Solaris

I wait for my bonded...

0 · 270 views · located in Hainius

a character in “Marked: For Better or for Worse”, as played by Whiskyness

Description

Name: Solaris Aurelian

Breed: I am a Western Cloudskimmer

Gender: The most manliest man you'll ever meet.

Marking: My marking is in the shape of a dark black sun that encircles the left eye entirely.
Image

Egg Appearance: My egg is a large oval that looks like someone had coated the shell with the hottest embers from the biggest fire. The colour and the design make it seem as if the embers glow and writhe, alive on the outside and alive on the inside. On the left side there is an abnormality, a Mark. It is a black mark that rests on the top left half. It is designed as a sun.

Hatchling Appearance: My body build is of medium length, with the rest of my length made up with my very long tail and short elegant neck. I am the colour of a darker dandelion yellow that can vary in it's prominence as you go along my body. My wings are a brighter dandelion yellow, and the ribbing of my wings are the darker dandelion colour. My legs are shorter than the average dragon so I can tuck them close to me during flight to make myself faster and glide for longer periods of time. The legs can hinder me when running on land, as I'm not as fast as others might be, who have longer legs. My underbelly is well protected with small, well-knit scales that are a dull, off white colour. Along the top of my head are small, sharp spikes that look similar to frills, and when touched with an average amount of pressure they cut skin cleanly, and shallow, as if a warning. With more pressure applied the cuts are more deep and the barbs going down the frills will catch the skin and tear if one tries to pull loose. I have also have three spike-like-horns growing; two medium sized ones at the top sides of my head growing off near the brow area, and a third small one that grows in the middle of my nose. I have several tendrils that are at the sides of my face and the bottom of it. The ones at the sides are rigid, though are rounded and don't hurt to the touch. The frills at the bottom are soft and light, moving about as I move my head. My wings are large and wide, easily catching wind. At the end of them they too looked frilled, are are sharp to the touch and cut the skin, and the frilled wing carries down to the tip of my tail. My wings are what I am the most vain about, and I find them my most stunning attribute. As a hatching I am only a mere 3 feet long, my tail taking up almost a foot and a half of my length.
Image

Adult Appearance: As an adult my spike-like-horns have fully grown and can be effectively used to ram something. The spike-fills on top of my head are larger now, and sharper. My body has grown to a nice size of 24 feet, with my wings still the most majestic thing, their width amazing and graceful.
Image

Breath Weapon: My breath weapon is a hot torrent of fire.

Bonded: I have no idea who they are yet...

Personality

Personality: Generally I am an easy-going dragon. Not much in life troubles me and I'm slow to anger. I'm not as shy as the rest of my breed, tending to seek conversation and interaction, and don't like being left out or left alone. I can be a little particular when it comes to the way my bed is laid out, how and if my food is cooked and what type of food it is, though I'll be okay with maybe changing it up once or twice to accommodate for others or to be polite. I can be a bit confident and bold sometimes, and I am really proud of my appearance. To be brutally honest, I'm a bit of a pyro, and anything I can burn and get away with, I will (sometimes I will burn something I'm not supposed to). When it comes to friends I'm very protective, and this is where my anger and strength will show the most. I learn as I go the best I can, and try to be a good student. I soak up little tidbits of information when I need to, but things I deem useless will go in one ear and out the other. I'm always up for a good adventure and a little bit (or a whole lot) of trouble.

Solaris felt all rushed with giddy. The Serpent's shrill calls had woken him from his surface slumber, and now he started to shift, eager for the time he could emerge. Before he was only semi-aware of what was happening around him, as he had just wanted a rest, but now he soaked in everything he could. Scents. Sounds. Images seen through his egg. He tried to stretch in what little space he had, feeling the urge to get into motion. He could hear the Great Dragon and his soothing voice, it was one of the only voices he knew. It was all happening! His bonded was going to show up with seven others, and he got to choose! Making his own decision made Solaris feel very grown up already, and he hummed in happiness. He just couldn't wait!

Solaris heard the Great Dragon speak, and his body reverberated, knowing that now was the time to hatch. He listened as the siblings of his kind hatched, and knew that he should join them. But how was one to go about getting out of his egg? Well, he knew that he wanted out, and so he concentrated on this feeling of out. He felt his egg begin to shake slowly, though not violently or in a rocking motion, more like vibration. The vibration picked up speed and emitted a low, pure note that rumbled off the rocks. The sound was soon consumed by the rest of the world, and didn't get very far, but to Solaris it was a great loud sound that went through every bone in his body.
As the speed increased, so did the pitch of the note, until it was at a frequency that most might not be able to hear, but it wasn't hard on the ears. Inside of the egg was completely still, it was only the shell that showed signs of movement. Finally, the egg shattered, making a muffled noise similar to broken glass. The shards of the egg didn't fly everywhere, but rather, sort of remained suspended in the air long enough for the naked eye to catch it. Then they fell to the floor and made light clattering sounds, like pins dropping.

The viscous liquid that had surrounded and protected Solaris spilled out and took the dragon with it. Now that he didn't have a layer of fluid around him, things got a lot louder. Solaris immediately opened his eyes and blinked a few times, the sudden change in light hurt his eyes. The first thing he noticed was the bright light that was coming from outside of the cave, at the entrance. The second thing his eyes found was the one hardest to miss, the Great Dragon. He was amazed and humbled my the mere size of the dragon, knowing that he must be very old, and that wisdom must come with his age.
The last thing he noticed had to be the twolegs, and the others of his kind. Everything was so new to him, his head was beginning to throb, but he welcomed it. His mind began to absorb this information. What kind of twolegs were they? And what kind of dragons were they, for that matter?

He could already see that some twolegs were being approached and questioned by other dragons, and Solaris almost wanted to walk up beside them and just... listen. He figured it was more like 'find a twoleg you might bond with, and talk'.
But everyone was so big here, it made his little world inside of his little egg seems so... uh, little. Then Solaris spotted a small twoleg, one of the smallest there. He didn't even think, he just acted, and moved his feet shakily one in front of the other, his wings were damp and clung to his body. In a few seconds he was by the little twolegs feet, and he looked up to meet where its eyes were located. What a funny way to stand, he thought, on two feet instead of on all four. To be honest, Solaris didn't enjoy craning his neck to view this person, and he didn't want to carry on a conversation as such. He reached his front two legs up and placed them on the back two, (or was it bottom two, he really couldn't tell with the two leg standing all funny) of the twoleg and made a scrabbling motion. “Down here!” he said in his most loud voice. “You down here!”

"Huh?" Ryuu looked down at his feet to see a hatchling pawing at his legs. Kneeling so that he could hear and see it better. What a nice little dragon.... All warm yellow, with a long tail.... Was there something wrong with the wings, or was it just new? Would this dragon be his bonded? Whether it would or not, it was quite cute.

Still absently wondering whether baby dragons could breath fire or whatever it was dragons breathed, he grinned at it. It? No, it sounded like a he. "Hello there." The dragon smelled new and fresh, and very dragon-y. Dragon-y, yes, that was the word. Lizards smelled more brown, so reptile-y would not be correct.

The twoleg knelt and Solaris felt a rush of relief go through him, now he didn't feel so small and insignificant. “Hello there.” said the little twoleg, and his mouth curved up and his whole face looked happy. Solaris tried to copy his face, and smirked a dragon smirk. He hoped that looked right.
Before he could say anything he both sensed, and saw movement close by him in the corner of his eye. He turned around and spotted another dragon, dark as anything, observing them. There was something in the way he carried himself that unsettled Solaris and made him become defensive. He pried his still-not-yet-dry wings from his sides and spread them out at their full width and height, making him appear much more larger than he actually was. He made no other move, and just stared back at the other dragon. He really wanted to reply to the nice twoleg, but he was too interested in what the other dragon might do. In fact, now he was becoming less wary and more excited, and he started to move his tail back and forth slowly. What had started out as a defensive instinct was now more of a game to Solaris. He didn't know whether to run around or tackle the other dragon in a playful wrestling way.

Songrose watched curiously as the dragons all found some person that they wanted to talk to. It seemed a little odd, but they all seemed to know who they were bonded with. She tilted her head curiously to one side as two went to the werewolf that had led her there. She watched, about to back away a step before it became a fight, but calmed when it seemed like he was being playful. It almost reminded her of a cat trying to play. She grinned and looked back to the werewolf; she felt a little bad that she hadn't gotten his name, but he hadn't offered, and hadn't asked for hers.

Still, she turned her attention to him, and the two dragon nearby. "...Seems like...you're kinda...popular...with the dragons..." she offered, hesitantly. She wouldn't be able to stand it if she had no one to talk to. Even at home, she talked with the animals there, even though they couldn't respond. Or, perhaps, because they couldn't respond. Either way, she felt uncomfortable trying to force conversation, but even more so when she couldn't hear all of the other conversations in the room.

Ryuu's attention went quickly from his scattered thoughts and back to the little yellow dragon as he felt it stiffen, following its gaze and seeing the larger, deeply black colored hatchling. Making a mildly amused sound in his throat, he watched its half aggressive, half playful movements. This could be.... Entertaining.

"...Seems like...you're kinda...popular...with the dragons..." Ryuu glanced at his traveling companion with a grin. "Guess so." He really wanted to ask if her hesitant speech was genetic or just out of nervousness, but wasn't in the mood to start a fight or make someone cry. A question for later, perhaps, when he felt like causing trouble. He was also a bit amused that the hatchlings seemed to like him; he wasn't known for being good with animals. Oh, well, no use pondering it. It was how it was, and that's as complicated as life needed to be. His focus went to the hatchlings again.

As the black one lunged forward, Ryuu grinned and watched its maneuvers. A strong little dragon indeed. Settling back into a more relaxed position, he surveyed the young dragon's antics with quiet amusement and interest.

The other dragon wanted to play too! He had first jumped past Solaris, and then had sprung off a rock and was now standing very close to him. He was pumping with energy and excitedly dropped his top half low to the ground and moved his tail back and forth rhythmically and let out a little sound, crossed between a growl and a chirp. Solaris tilted his head and lifted his right paw in the air and batted out in front of him, his smaller arms not reaching very far towards the other dragon, but he didn't want to actually swat Xanath. He was aware of all the other commotion around him made by other two legs and the dragons, but he tried to zone them out. All thoughts of bonding were tossed to the back of his mind, but his body didn't forget. While he was posed like such with his mind thinking 'PlayPlayPlayPlay', he had a small itch to find his Bonded, and itches can only be ignored for a short while. Hopefully it was a long enough short time for him to keep having this little bit of fun. Solaris blinked his yellow-green eyes and batted out at Xanath again, for good measure, still only reaching a small distance in front of himself.

Xanath wasn't impressed by the other's half-hearted attempts. Dodging around the playful swipes with excess movement, circling his opponent. He let out a slight snarl, although it wasn't particularly aggressive. He struck back, darting forward and attempting to nip the Cloudskimmer before vaulting over him. again on the other side with less of a struggle to circle back. This was already boring the energetic Chaos Wraith and he upped the stakes. With a low crouch he shuffled his balance, whipping his tail to and fro. He tensed his leg muscles, preparing to bound. Yellow eyes watching any movements from the yellow dragon. Moments later he released himself, dashing forward and into the other. He closed for a violent yet playful wrestle careful to account for any movements from Solaris. Xanath was not quite aware that others were as willing to put so much effort into the mock fight as he was. Naturally he avoided his claws and teeth to scrape against the chitinous scales but he spared no expense with the amount of force he used. The wiry black creature attempted to use all the strength within his limbs and serpentine body to bully the other onto the ground and take victory on top.

Larissa scooped up the dragon carefully, and held Shiya somewhat protectively in her arms loosely so she wouldn't be uncomfortable. She felt rather guilty when she heard a hint of jealousy in Kyren's voice. When Shiya snapped at Kyren, Larissa's voice became very soothing and gentle. "It's alright, Shiya. Kyren is a wonderful person. You can see it in his face if you look closely enough." Her adopted mother had always told her if she looked hard enough, she could always see if someone was good or not. 'Bad people' always had a certain dead look to their eyes, while 'good people' always had a certain light about themselves. "Kyren, look." She nodded to two dragons that where play fighting. "One of them is sure to be your bonded. It doesn't appear that they have chosen anyone quiet yet."
