Bobby had joined the others in the lounge, and complained the most loudly when Cid ruled out all ideas that involved leaving the grounds. He sunk further into the comfy chair where he was sat by himself, and groaned as noisily as he could.

"So we're seriously just gonna be couped up?" he said, "In the one place a serious attack has taken place."

"Come on Bobby play fair," Cid sighed, "we're still safe here if we stick together."

Jeff winced a little at the flare of tension. Things had only just started to lighten up a little, he didn't want it to come crashing down again.

"Well," he said tentatively, "it's not like we're short on space in the house. And how long has it been since we had a proper house party?"

"Chuh..." Bobby spat, looking down, then added quietly, "...Alpha's pet..."

"No but seriously," Jeff went on, "I think it'd be good to have something like that which isn't about the pack, just about us. We've always been tight, but with all the crap that's gone on lately it's been...well I dunno...I just feel like I kinda miss you guys!"

There was a brief moment of silence, and Jeff took an awkward sip of tea, realising he'd not tested the ground before blurting that out and that he may well have just made a bit of an ape of himself if other people weren't feeling the same way...

Adrian lay his head on Lux's shoulder. It was a bit uncomfortable, considering hes taller than her, but it didn't matter. They were in each others arms and he could smell her and everything would be alright. He didn't cry - he hadn't cried in years - but he did allow himself to wallow in self-pity and sorrow. He let himself slouch down and curl up under her arm. Well, he didn't exactly fit, but it half worked.

After a few minutes and her speaking, he straightened, wiped dry eyes, and kissed the tips of her fingers. "That conversation seems like ages ago. I think I said something about riding it out till you find the right one? I don't know. Dad walked in and I reverted to panicked teenager mode." He chuckled, the sound coming from deep in his chest. He wouldn't tell anyone else he had panicked over his father finding him kissing a girl. It hadn't been the first time, after all.

Emmy left her stomach summersault at the idea of a house party, devious ideas sprang to mind and she was certain her heartbeat picked up a notch when Jeff put the idea in the air. When he went on to say he missed them all she found herself frowning...a rocky, unstable expression that seemed reluctant to deny she understood what he meant. It made her feel bad knowing that Jeff felt...seperate? It made a change for him to be the only one with his head above the water- usually it was her with the couldnt-care-less air about her.

Emmy placed the tea down and pushed it more on the table knowing she was never going to finish the stuff before she turned to the others with a determined grin. "Jeff's right. A house party would be bang on what we need- give us some cheer- a get well soon party for you boys" she cheered getting to her feet and eyeing Cid with a flame in her eye. "You said so yourself we have to stay in the house so stay in the house we will" she declared.

Emmy turned to the girls. "We'll organise it...obviously" she turned back to Cid and wedged two hands in to his jumper. "What d'you say can we Cid. I think we should be able to dont you guys (she didnt wait for an answer) Yes see we all think so!"

Mina calmed down considerably. "Yeah." She murmured before continuing just so everyone understood her meaning. "I'll make sure to carry you to a nice bed where you can rest. However, don't expect me to tend to you like a good little nurse. I'm going to be out their trailing with the others." She chuckled lightly.

She turned in her seat hearing Cid tell them about their ideas. Talk about a letdown! She sighed and went to set her cup down on the coffee table in front of the couch and her seat. She was about to start another subject in the tense silence when Jeff and Emmy came up with a brilliant idea. However Jeff had been rather tactless with his word but it had struck a cord nonetheless. Mina leaned forward just slightly and reached over the table to pat Jeff's knee innocently. "Thanks." She shot him a smile then looked to Emmy as she relaxed in her seat. She raised one hand to give the sign of a thumbs up and winked.

"Yeah, that's perfect! And you-" She whipped out her hand that had been turned to Emmy to point it at Cid in excitement. "-can't say a word about it because we'll be right here on the pack grounds. Right where even you can attend." She plastered a grin full of victory on her somewhat smug face. The girls had won this match.

Had the youngsters simply groaned in reluctant acceptance and casually agreed to throw a party as a sort of second-best option, Cid would have had no qualms at all. But the way Emmy, and then Mina, reacted with considerable enthusiasm gave him pause as he wondered what sort of thing they would devise.

But after already causing such disappointment, he didn't have the heart to try to interfere with or quash any more of their ideas. So instead he took a deep breath, then let out a deep chuckle.

"Alright," he said, "do your worst. You girls can organise it, but just remember one thing...."

He grappled his arms tightly around the small rascal who was kneading her hands into his jumper and lifted her clean off her feet.

"...it's still my party, and I'm inviting myself."

With a wicked laugh he set Emmy down on her feet again and backed away towards the door to leave them to their scheming.

Tai frowned, she would have preferred to get out of the house, but Alpha knew best. She sat up as Emmy looked like she was about to explode, so it was a party? Tai was excited but there had been a reason it had been a bad idea before, but maybe there could be a way around it. "Okay, house party, uhmm just so its not too inappropriate after a funeral maybe we could label it a get well party for the people who got hurt" she smiled. "Just so no one get ansy about it" she shrugged feeling the eagerness return to her after their ideas had been shut down by Cid.

"Ooooh it should be themed!" she added thoughtfully. "Something funny, people always say the best medicine is laughter" Tai thought for a moment longer. She was pretty sure everyone here was past the age where fairy costumes and such were not considered cool even at parties, so she doubted anyone had costumes like that. She wished she had run off with a few of the outfits from the circus before she left. "I know!" she squeaked snapping her fingers repeatedly, "and it's easy too, if we want to make it a bit more fun we could dress in drag?" she snickered wondering how cooperative the guys would be to wearing a dress and make up.

Jeff screwed up his face at the mention of the word 'drag'. At the same time his heart sank, as it was starting to feel like the decision had passed well and truly into the hands of the girls. Even Cid had been rather cavalier in giving his consent for the girls to plan it...and then walked out before hearing their ideas. Did the alpha still want to be invited if he was gonna have to come in a dress? Jeff wasn't sure which he dreaded more; coming to a party in drag, or seeing Cid come in drag. It was a typical girl's cop-out...what where they going to come in? Trousers and an oxford shirt? Hardly the same degree of humiliation.

"So am I hearing this right?" he said slowly, "To unite ourselves in solidarity and communal fortitude we're gonna...dress in each other's clothes?"

Once Emmy firmly had her feet back on the ground she hissed with excitement and grinned widely at how the party idea was coming together and gave a hearty laugh at Tai's idea of drag. Turning to Jeff she gave the boy a chummy slap on the thigh. "It'll be fun- everyone needs to feel better- times are tough and Garrett would of been the first to reach for the lipstick!" she declared. "And I'll help you get ready as long as you let me borrow some of your clothes" she added barely able to contain the feeling bubbling within.

Things were dull, times were hard and undoubtly about to get harder- it made her cling to the idea of one night of careless fun. Just one more night before she had to grow up.

Mina chuckled as Jeff seemed to dread the idea Tai spouted. It was a magnificent one but she didn't think many of the boys would like to show up in princess dresses. She covered her lips to hide the mischievous grin while her mind pictured the boys posing for a picture all in wedding dressed. Frills, beads, and more of the like scattered over their muscular bodies. Maybe in pink? Another laugh escaped her lips and her hidden smile broadened.

Lowering her hand she decided to put in her own thoughts to the growing pool of opinions. "This will be the best party ever. I know it. Tai is right, that laughter is the best medicine." She paused, letting her gaze switch over to Tyler. "However, since the other girls are borrowing clothes, may I borrow some of yours? Maybe I can summon up a dress your size. In pink too." She winked with a hearty laugh.

She was glad that the usual jostle of affection was back. The familiarity that the packmates shared had become lost when the rogue had attacked but now, with the promise of a night full of fun, the packmates were smiling and joking around again. Smiles here and there. She let out a soft sound of content. She would treasure the days before the trouble began again. After all, it wouldn't be long until the moon came and the threat of rogues with it. The thought made a frown cross her expression but it was fleeting. Gone as soon as it had arrived. Directing her silvery gaze back to Tyler's she fidgeted in her chair suddenly conscious of the rooms' occupants. One thought resounded in her mind. Is it him or someone else in here? I have to be careful about this because I could be wrong.

Jeff jumped slightly at the slap on his thigh. Wow, she perked up fast.

"I don't guess I'm gonna get much choice about that." he replied, "But OK sure, swing by my room and I'll see what I got for ya...you can pick up that homework assignment while you're there."

A warm feeling returned at seeing people getting enthusiastic for something...even if the looks on the other boys faces didn't exactly speed of joyous acceptance of the idea of drag, there was at least a sense of resigned acceptance in the air, and surely (he hoped he wasn't imagining it) a gladness to be doing something altogether as a group.

He smiled across at Emmy who was wearing that impish grin he'd developed an undeniable fondness for over the years...however much it usually spelled trouble for someone...and however often that someone was him. As he got up his forgotten wrist twinged slightly, but rather than forcing a grimace of pain, it threw into sharp relief the positive reality of the previous night's outcome. Yes, three people had gotten pretty badly hurt. But Jeff was sure he couldn't be the only one glad that the only ones who got hurt were the ones who put themselves in harms way. Of the people injured, none were any of the girls. None of them was Emmy...

Lux smiles at Adrian's answer, "You just embarrassed because you were kissing me?" she teases, "What makes me different?"

"You should become an agony aunt - agony uncle? - in a pre-teen magazine." she says, "Those are wise words, but they don't exactly make everything clear...I don't know how to articulate it." she's frustrated, she doesn't have the words to explain to him, "Your male, you don't have to worry about stuff like this."

She can hear the others making a commotion inside and turns her head towards the house, wondering vaguely what's happening in there.

Tai got to her feet and set her cup down. Their dress in drag party idea seemed pretty much settled. "I'll go tell everyone else the idea, if they really have a problem with it I'll send them in" she said. She left the room chipper and excited. She looked out the window and could see a Kiara shape way out climbing a tree. That seemed odd, even for Tai. She shrugged, Kiara would have to find out when she came back to the house. Tai poked her head in the kitchen in search of Lux and Adrian. "Nope" she said to herself.

She heard hushed voices coming from the patio and crept over. She felt her stomach drop, or was it her heart. She wasn't sure but something inside her fell. The same jealousy that had sparked up in her at the bon fire hit her again hard. She wanted to dive on top of them, wrench Lux off Adrian, anything to separate them. She bit her lip and looked down at her feet as if she had walked in on something she shouldn't have. She stayed quiet as she tried to shut out the awful feeling, Lux and Adrian had known each other for ages they had every right to have a tender moment. It wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't know about something happening between them before the bon fire.

She looked up and realized Lux would have seen her by now, even her reaction, the girl had been staring at the doorway even before Tai had stepped in. Her cheeks flushed heavily and her eyes went shiny as they brimmed up with tears. "Uhm..everyone's decided on have-having a party" she said, her voice soft and ashamed, wavering slightly as she spoke. "I-I'm going" she stuttered, turning away briskly. She couldn't stay, couldn't stand the embarrassment, couldn't stand being so confused.

She headed for the front door, hand on the handle. She smacked her head on the wood of the door as she remembered she wasn't allowed to leave. She wiped her eyes angrily and started to cuss under her breath. She took a deep breath. Nope, still no good, she still felt like crap. Her eyes fresh with new tears, she growled and ran up stairs. She just wanted to get out of the house right now but even that wasn't possible. She shut her room door, gently, she didn't want to attract attention. She scowled at her bed and kicked off her guitar, crawling over the blankets and hugging her knees and falling to one side. This wasn't where she wanted to be.

“Yeah you should do it man,” Bobby laughed playfully punching Tyler in the arm. “let her fix you up with a nice lacy number.”

“Laugh it up Bobby.” Tyler rolled his eyes. “You and Ade will probably have Lux to play dress-up with so, y’know, just think about that for a minute.”

“Nothing to worry about,” Jeff chipped in, “Bobby’s got great legs, we don’t see him get them out enough around here.”

“You’re gross man.” Bobby screwed up his face and looked away.

Mina put her hand to her chin and looked at each of the others in turn. “You know,” she said pensively, “you’re all worrying about having to see each other in skirts and dresses. It’s possible that will be the least of your worries.”

The three boys looked at Mina quizzically, who stared back at them waiting for the penny to drop. When it didn’t happen right away, she cast a glance towards the door Cid had left by. And then the full horror dawned on them.

“Oh that’s nasty.” Tyler spluttered.

“You don’t think he will, will he?” said Jeff

“I dunno,” Mina said with a wry smile and a shrug, “he did say this was going to be his party and that he insisted on being invited.”

Bobby buried his face in his hands an let out a groan of dismay. “I’m gonna be laying on a couch relating this to a professional one day, I just know it...”

“What makes you different? Please tell me you’re kidding.” He tweaked her nose gently. “I would be a horrible columnist, unless it was for our rather small community. And even then. But enough of this” he released her hands, “we should go back inside. Everyone is planning something.”

The smell hit him at the same time Tai started speaking. He turned to look at her, tilting his head at the sound of her voice. The look on her face made him frown and something inside him tensed. When she darted away, Adrian stood, and glanced down at Lux. When he spoke, he sounded distracted. “You should go inside, see what they have planned. I’ll be back.”

Without waiting for a reply, he followed Tai inside the house. He caught sight of her blue hair as she disappeared up the stairs. As he passed the living room, he gave everyone a wave without even looking and continued on. As he got to the top of the stairs he slowed, listening intently. He could hear her moving about her room, but he couldn’t hear any sobbing. But he was sure her eyes had been wet, in more than a ‘I have something in my eye’ way.

“Tai?” He stood outside her door, unsure of what to do. Finally he turned and slid to the ground to lean back against it. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, choosing to listen instead of interrupt.

Tai tightened the ball she had curled up into before sprawling out on her bed, her head hanging over the side. She heard Adrian say her name through the wood of the door which made her groan internally. Obviously he'd seen her little moment too. He'd chased after her too? She rubbed her face with her hands, she just needed a moment. She looked down at the guitar that had landed face up on the ground. She reached out and plucked a few of the strings, focusing on the noise instead of the idea that Adrian was just at her door.

She sighed and sat up, her long blue hair falling over her face as she slumped over, resting her chin in her hand. She got up and checked her face in the mirror. She had managed to hold back from bawling but her eyes were still glassy and slightly pink. Maybe she could pass herself off as a stoner instead of an emotional teen.

She took a breath and walked over to her door, pausing just to give herself that little extra piece of recovery. "I'm coming out Ade" she croaked, opening the door and clearing her throat. She looked down to find Adrian on the ground. "Come to borrow a dress for the party have you?" she asked with a smirk, her voice back to a normal level, he probably still hadn't heard of the party's theme yet. It was also a nice subtle change of topic, in case he was about to ask why she had acted so weird. She wondered if any of the boys would even be able to fit her clothes. She was a reasonable height but barely any width to her, she didn't want to get her stuff back with a split in the seam.

Mina peered at the boys, giving a small chuckle. She had to give them credit, nightmares would only be appropriate after this was all said and done. She moved to stand up and looked to Tyler. "If you give me a moment, we can go up to my room together." Mina looked down to her task of picking up her teacups, as a blush crowded her cheeks. "To get a dress for you." She mentioned as an afterthought. Geez. I need to stop being such a girly teenager. Snap out of it, it's not the first time a guy has gone in your room. She sighed and picked up the tray that held the set of cups and pot on it. Days like this were languid and fun but it was better to wing things than make plans about it.

She set the tray on the kitchen counter and went about cleaning the cups. It didn't take long to clean and put the cups away, after all she was soon heading back into the living room with a slight smile on her face. Her footsteps led her to the stairwell and she paused at the bottom stair. "Come on, Tyler. I'm heading up with or without you." She made her way up the steps and paused once more at the top, viewing the hall. It was a strange sight not to see Lux around when Adrian was present, specially when there were festivities to be planned. Plus, she had figured Adrian would have been borrowing a dress from Lux. Hm. That's strange.

She watched the exchange between Tai and Adrian before she shook her head deciding not to intrude, and strode past them to head into her proper and clean room. She wasn't the type to have any sort of mess around her room. Mina strode over to the dresser and pulled out the drawer to look inside. There were plenty of dresses but which one would look best? She would have to ask him what he wanted and then she could ask him if he had a beige suit or something light for her to wear. She grinned as the flowery dress caught her eye. Perfect.

He looked up at the ceiling, listening. He could still hear the others talking downstairs, but he couldn’t make out the words. The familiar sound of plucked guitar strings came through the door. Figures – Tai usually dealt with her problems with music or exercise. He relaxed, preparing for a long wait. If she fell asleep, he would go back down stairs, but he would wait until then.

He got only a slight warning before she opened the door. He thought about letting himself fall back against her legs, using his weight to knock her over. A quick look up at her face told him that it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to send her sprawling. Instead he caught himself on his elbows, half laying on his back and looked up at her with a playful grin. “You know Tai, that is a nice dress. Looks really good on you from this angle.”

Her words dawned on him and his eyebrows drew together in confusion. “Dress? Why would I need a dress for the party?” Her plan had, of course, worked. Thoughts of her crying had completely flown out of his mind, in place of wondering why the heck he would need a dress. He sat up as realization dawned on him. “You guys didn’t. I am not wearing a dress!”

Bobby's face is still buried in the sofa, trying to smother the image of Cid in a miniskirt and sandals.

After regaining his composure, he emerges from the sofa. "Well, who are you borrowing a dress from then, Jeff?" he asks his brother - he had rarely seen Mina in anything other than jeans and doubts she has a spare dress to lend Jeff.

He hasn't seen Lux all day, and Adrian had disappeared to look for her ages ago. He wonders what they could be doing, alone together, but quickly banishes the thought. "I'm going to find Lux, and ask her about a - " he shudders inwardly " - a dress...Roberta will see you later."

He heads upstairs, knocking on Lux's bedroom door before he barges in, just in case Adrian is with her in there, but the room is empty. He hovers in the doorway for a moment before deciding simply to have a peek in her wardrobe. Everything she owns is short or sheer and impossibly tight - too tight for Bobby's frame, anyway - and he's not sure he'll actually fit into anything.

Lux had lingered outside on the porch for a while after Adrian had left, and when she returns inside she's surprised to find Bobby raiding her wardrobe. "What are you doing?", she asks uneasily.

She splutters at his explanation and it takes her a long moment to regain her composure, "I think you'd suit pink, actually.", she muses aloud. She waves him out of the way so she can look through the wardrobe, after about a minute, she emerges with a garish, pink dress with a netted skirt, like a ballerina's tutu. "It was a bridesmaid's dress.", she explains the gaudy outfit, "It might fit..." she holds it up against him. "Try it on." she hands it to him, "I won't look, I swear."

Tai's smirk grew more defined and she folded her arms across her chest as she watched Adrian's facial expression change to horror. She giggled maniacally "There's no escape!" she quickly grabbed him under the arms and dragged him into her room, dropping him in front of her wardrobe. "I knew you'd love the idea" she added smugly as she opened her wardrobe and started rummaging. She pulled out a few pieces, trying to stick to stretchy materials.

She pulled out a leotard she'd kept from her gig at the circus, no way could it fit Ade she giggled trying to imagine one of the boys in it. They would need a testicular retrieval operation afterwards and her leotard would be saggy forever. She tossed it behind her and continued rummaging. She pulled out a couple of simple dresses, a black halter neck and a thin strapped purple dress. She hardly ever wore them, they were stretchy with zips and easily replaced. To that collection she added some tops and two different miniskirts.

"These should do but if they don't fit I guess you'll have to find a different supplier" she said walking around him back to her bed.

Bobby starts guiltily when Lux interrupts him, "It's not what it looks like!" he insists, "I was looking for a dress. We're having a drag party tonight."

He holds the fuchsia garment she hands him gingerly, "Can you turn around?" he asks, waiting until she's looking the other way to tug off his t-shirt and jeans and struggle into the dress. "Will it zip up?" he asks, trying to look over his shoulder to see the back of the dress.

Tai could, of course, not drag him if he was unwilling. He though about fighting, running, escaping into the woods. The girls could never catch him if he got out of the house. With a groan, he half crab walked, half let her drag him into her room. He couldn’t leave the house. It was dangerous. He felt his good mood evaporating again. He leaned back against her bed frame and used his foot to swing the door closed, feeling like he was closing the coffin to his own grave.

God, was he really going to wear a stupid dress? Of course he was, he thought as he watched Tai’s back as she went through her wardrobe, his lips pursed tight. Everyone needed a laugh, and what could be better than him and the other males in dresses? When a leotard landed on his face, he regretted his decision.

“Why can’t it just be a costume party?” he complained loudly. “Girls costumes are skimpy and that’s what I need to get my morals up. That way Bobby can wear a dress like hes always wanted and I can be masked and mysterious. Not… gay.” He threw the leotard in a corner. There was no way this was going to end well. He groaned again when she held up her finds. “You know I’m not going to fit into anything of yours, right? You’re a stick. I refuse. You can’t make me.”

That, of course, was a dare.

Tai folded her arms across her chest. Disappointed that Ade hadnt liked the idea, her idea. "There's nothing gay about wearing a dress" she pouted. "Come on Ade grow up, it's going to be fun just you wait. I promise you wont be the most ridiculous looking person there" she giggled. "Everyone's doing it, think how stupid everyone else is going to look" she tried to reason with Adrian's childish attitude towards the party but he wasnt letting up.

He refused it completely. Her pout turned into a devilish smirk, she picked up the purple dress and unzipped it walking around the otherside of the bed and crawled onto it towards the top of Adrian's head. "Challenge accepted!" she squealed playfully as she pulled the top of the dress over his head and shoulders. She tackled him down trying to worm his arms through the strap. She didnt care if she broke the dress, split seam or broken zip it would be worth it if she actually got him in it. No matter if he struggled, she was going to do her best to succeed.
