Physical Description
Average height, average weight. Not overly muscular. James is the definition of 'that brown haired average looking guy who is innocuous.' Not that he is innocuous. He triest to stand out at any opportunity, he just can't really beat his genetic ability to be so indiscribably normal that he doesn't really last that well.
Personality
From an early age, James has found himself feeling inferior to others. Where there was always the unique jock or the nerd that everyone remembered, in a good or bad light, no one really seemed to take notice of him either way. He was average even in sports, though he tried his damnest to stand out.
Not to say he didn't stand out here and there. He managed to get a little name for being the one who would try the most insane ideas. But he still didn't become one of those people you remember. Point proven when someone boarded half a year as an exchange student, came back, and couldn't remember who he was.
His personality is very much a contrast to his looks. As intentionally unique as possible, he will act in the most outlandish way usually, from vibrant humour to over the top dramaticism. Behind this mask of attentionseeking, quite blatant attentionseeking, there is a boy that, quite frankly, feels he is inferior. Just the pure fact that he isn't worthy to be remembered by anyone of note means that he's worse even than the objects of their ire. He doesn't even deserve the hatred.
This eats at him a lot, and is often cause for a sudden break in his boistrousness to quitely contemplate. As a result of this feeling, he will somewhat relinquish to others authority, not even questioning unless he has really good reason to. If you asked him to walk out into a suicide mission, he'd do it unless he had some real objections. And if he did, they wouldn't be about dying.
Careless, but not in it for the thrill, his more outrageous actions are more geared towards the spectators than himself, giving up pleasure to try and be particularly unique. But he cares so little for anything other than this, quite frankly, obsession that he would give up life and limb if it meant he stood out.
Skill(s)/Abilities
- Jack of all Trades - James has tried his hand at anything. While he is not particularly proficient in anything, he knows at least the basics about anything. There are very few things he doesn't know how to do in some rudimentry way at the least.
- Average guy - If he actually paused for a second, he'd realise that his 'normalcy' is a brilliant gift, and that he has the ability to fade into crowds or be the easily looked over guy. However, due to his personal issues, he's unlikely to ever use this.
- Retention Excellence - While he has no 'perfect memory', he remembers things very well. If he's read a book about it, he'll tell you. If he's used this route before, likely he'll remember enough to stop you being steered wrong. If he's seen you before, he'll either recognise you or wonder why he feels like he should.
History
Born the sixth in a family of seven children, James was in the perfect position to lose most of his attention to his one year younger sister, Emily. Early on in his life, he felt the first pangs of the jealousy that would drive him in the future, that feeling of not being enough to be noticed.
His parents, completely unaware and oblivious to this, continued their ways as the family grew up. When he entered highschool, he still hadn't consciously realised his own fault, and so found himself embarrassing himself in all manners of ways just to try and grab some little attention here and there. Throwing his brain here and there, he took off at lightspeeds only to be halted when he couldn't pass the next hurdle in a career direction.
He actually, unbenownst to him, gained some small name as a man who would do anything that got him attention. And by the time he graduated, the teachers were left just shaking their heads at what he'd do. He wasn't a brilliant student, but he passed all his grades fairly well. Averagely, it could be said, although he'd rip your head off.
So, he refused to take extra education, refusing to go to university. His parents, distraught, attempted to convince him, and failing that, attempted to try and get him into a job. In a funk, the boy refused either. He became a loafer as he struggled with the questions he had no answers to.
It was that year, two years ago, that he first found his mask. Axilious, a powerful thing in name and place became his sole friend. You could see the foppish masked one a mile away, where James would blend in. That immediately sealed his love for the mask and personality inside.
It was while out in the rooftops, mask active as it explored its limits, that he ran into Arthur Torrings. First, hostility, thinking Itex. But then, then they realised the other was more than they first seemed. The rest of that night, after the mask was taken off, was a blur, a memory half-remembered. All except one line 'Help me, and you'll be something special. Something only one in over twenty five million people can have.'
Ever since, he joined the ranks of the Masked, a special and unique group of five who stood out from all the others, even if they stood in shadow for now...
Since then, he has picked up a few odd jobs until he decided to take himself on as a Sales Clerk. On and off on irregular hours, he's quite the competant, if overdramatic, assistant.
