Introduction
Maydin Psychiatric Hospital: a world of it's own. You have the doctors researching the patients, diagnosing before they get a breakdown, or get worse. Nurses sharing secrets in the hallways; parading like guardian angels of the patients through the hospital and sometimes clash with the doctors when they dont agree. And of course the patients, who are not often interested in complete coöperation..
Doctor/Psychiatrist:
You came working here for personal reasons, and yes, there are ups and downs, but nevertheless Maydin has been your home (Sometimes litteraly when you're working late again.) This love-hate relationship with the hospital and it's patients eats up your free time and damages your personal life. But you keep going back.
Maybe it's intrgue, maybe it's the challenge, but you keep coming back.
Nurses:
You're about the guardian angel of the patients. You take care of them, and check if the doctors dont try to drug them up too much again.. The scedules are busy, the doctors seem a bit too cold for your compasionate heart, and not all nurses are equally likeable. But every long shift always leaves you with a sense of fulfilment and new insights in the patients.
Patients:
You're a patient, and Maydin is your home. Your world is the hospital and it's many many rules. People around you change and sometimes doctors and nurses dont expect you to see as much as you do..
-> Doctors and Nurses can have mental problems of themselves too. some light and unsevere, some creepily undetected..
-> Patients can have everything, from a depression to full clinical.
-> Neccesairy violence from nurses to patients is accepted, as long as you dont hear any OOC complains.
The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 7 authors
"Nature sure has a way of being an escape, the way the trees move in the wind to creat the sweetest music and how flowers can add colour to an otherwise dull world. I can almost see it, the place hidden just beyond our reach, hidden away behind the trees. There are many beautiful creatures that live there, mermaids swimming through the water and centaurs playing their magical flutes for the king and queen. Oh yes the king and queen, so brilliant and kind they are, they look at everything and only see the good. They walk among the subject and bestow gifts to those who have done them great service, no one there is unhappy, they live in a world of peace and love. These are my friends Cortlan. This is why I don't take my medicine, because the world I can see threw my eyes is so perfect and is my sanctuary. You can come visit it with me someday, those mean friends of your want ever be able to hurt you, so please don't become a doll and live happily with me, let us be friends."
Cleo flashed Cortlan a happy smile again, and reached out her hand, hoping the girl would take it.
Sure, she didnt want to become a doll, but how far would the alternative go? today was one of the better days but would Cleo still want to be with her when she would get bad again? would it be like the last hospital, where drugs were the actual padded rooms? and what if The Others came to take Cleo?
well at least she would offer some distraction, and, if she was brutally honest, she started to carefully consider her a friend already.
Cortlan took Cleo's hand tightly.
"Your my friend now Cortlan, you can't run away and leave me." Cleo giggled and gave Cortlan a comforting smile, "Let's promise, I won't leave you and you won't leave me. We will always be friends!" Even through she did have a perfect world that she could see clearly as day, Cleo knew she could never get to it, never touch her perfect world and escape her grim reality and that's what hurt most of all, but maybe with Cortlan's help she could grew used to her reality and stop missing her magical world.
Maybe Rose could help them? Honestly they didn't seem like the monsters the Doctors made them out to be. If anything they seemed kinder then the doctors themselves.
She shook her head, deciding at that moment she would protect these two. She was a nurse after all, and no stupid doctor, even her boos, could stop Rose.
She could hear the lunch bell going off somewhere within the hospital and gave Cortlan a smile, "Come on let's go eat lunch, I am really hungry and I bet you are to!" Cleo said happily, keeping hold of her friends hand as she lead her towards the canteen. She didnt really want to leave the patio but there wouldn't be anymore food till dinner and because of her friends Cleo had already missed breakfast.
"I wonder what they will be serving us today? I hope it's toasted cheese sandwiches! They are my favourite lunch time food fall time through the cooks don't make it often!" Cleo babbled to Cortlan as they walked down the corridors towards the canteen which was just starting to fill up, Cleo quickly grabbed 2 seats at a table for 6, as all the other tables had been taken up, for her and Cortlan while they waited for someone to bring them their lunch.
He was sat alone again, like Cleo, no one really talked to Oli because he was a doll, Cleo had tried but he had been so drugged but that he hadn't acknowledged her existence, it had hurt her feelings and she stopped using the medicine because she didnt want to become like him.
From the look in his eyes he seemed more conscious today than normal, maybe she should try again... Maybe he was just lonely like she had been... Like Cortlan had been...
"Hay Cortlan, I will be right back. I am just going to invite Oli to our table because he's alone over there." She indicated the boy with her hand before getting up and walking to stand in front of him, 'please see me this time...' She thought before speaking.
"Hay Oli!" She said, waving and giving him an enthusiastic smile, "Want to come and sit with me and Cortlan? You look lonely over here and we have lots of seats at our table!" Cleo said again, tilting her head slightly to the side and smiling down at Oli, waiting for his answer.
"Hay Oli! Want to come and sit with me and Cortlan? You look lonely over here and we have lots of seats at our table!"
It took him a long moment to focus his eyes on the little blonde girl, to make out exactly who it was. Not that Cleo was someone that could be easily forgotten. They all knew who she was, the one that didn't let the gloom of ol' Maydin's get to her. Yet.
Cleo had tried to speak to him before a few times, all smiles and joy of her usual self, but, as much as he had tried, he could not respond. He had watched in hollow silence as her smile faded to one of pity, waving a goodbye to him and going away to speak with her 'friends'.
But this time was different , he thought hazily as his eyes slowly tracked back to the girl who had been seated at Cleo's lunch table. She had a real person accompanying her this time. A friend they could all see, and a newbie at that.
Another long moment passed as Oli tried to piece all his thoughts together, really wanting to respond, to say 'Yes', but the drugs made it hard to concentrate. Not that that was essentially a bad thing.
He blinked hard a few times, trying to get some control, but everything stayed fuzzy.
Finally, with a shaky voice, "I.. Y-ye... Yes. I-I wou... Would."
"You finally spoke to me! I'm sooooooooooooo happy!" She said as she grabbed Oli's hand and dragged him up from his seat and across the room to sit on her and Cortlan's table. "Cortlan this is Oli, he doesn't talk much but he's going to sit its us!" She said excitedly before turning to the nurse who had brought them food, driving quickly into her desert first.
That statement made Oli happy, too, even if he couldn't get himself to show it on the outside. He hadn't spoken to anyone since he had first arrived, and, he had to admit, it felt really... Nice.
He allowed her to pull him along across the lunch room to the table where a girl, who he assumed must be Cortlan, sat. Oli took up the empty seat beside Cleo, his hands tightly gripping one of the crossbeams under the table in an attempt to keep his sanity. It was easy to tell that his medication was starting to wear off by now, strange things starting to dance across his vision, and that made his stomach a bit sick to think about, but he didn't want to disturb this moment.
It had been so long since anyone had spoken to him, and he didn't want to ruin it by going to take more medication. He didn't want to lose this chance to make a friend or two.
He nodded to Cortlan in an awkward greeting before his eyes flicked to watch Cleo devour her dessert.
Cleo paused for a moment as she glanced closer at Oli's face, he was looking kind of tense and had a slightly pale completion suddenly.
"Hay, are you okay?!" She asked, suddenly worried for the boy. She hated it when people became sick as they weren't themselves and seemed to hurt. She hated it when other hurt no matter who they were.
He forced a smile of his own and nodded, trying to reassure her that he was fine. Even if that was a lie, and he was definitely not fine. Oli was off, fully awake now, fully vulnerable. As he watched, a strand of scarlet dripped down from Cleo's hair and rolled down her face. The slow strand slowly grew to a waterfall, soaking her clothing and the floor around her as her skin started to peel away, revealing charred skin beneath.
'Not real, not real, not real...'
Oli turned his gaze to the table, refusing anymore eye contact, "F... I-I'm f... Fine."
Oli refused to make eye contact and it made Cleo worry, "Do you want to go to your room, where there are less people? I know I do that a lot when my friends come out to play, it normally helps!" She said enthusiastically, "I can also come with you if you want, I don't think Cortlan will mind if I leave her to help your for a bit!" She said again, reassuringly, sending Cortlan a quick glance and a sheepish smile at having to leave the girl alone, but right now Oli looked like he needed help and Cleo wanted to help him!
"Do you want to go to your room, where there are less people?" Was all he caught in his rising panic.
"Y-yes. I'll go to my room..." He decided as he stood up abruptly, trying to keep his voice as level as possible, sparing her a look. That was a mistake. Cleo's voice was no longer coming from Cleo, and the sight he saw made him stumble back, knocking into another patient.
He muttered a dazed good-bye before running off, pushing his way out the lunchroom doors and down the halls. Oli was in his room, safely locked away, in a matter of minutes, pressing the 'Nurse Call' button far too many times, knowing good and well that there was a good chance that no nurse would actually come.
Oli practically leaped for the doorknob, flinging it open in a crazed manner. He didn't really care who it was, anyone with the ability to fill a prescription was fine by him, and this nurse filled that requirement nicely. Not that she really looked like a nurse to him at the time being, she looked more like a walking nightmare, and it took everything he had not to slam the door in her face, but he was willing to take her word for it.
He felt like an addict, wanting the medicine so badly, but he needed it. Truly needed it.
Staring at the nurse in eerie silence, he clutched his trembling hands behind his back, refusing to unclasp them.
"M-My med... Medicine... I nee... ed." He begged like a man with no pride, giving Miss Rose the most desperate look he could muster. "Please."
"T-Three...? Four..." They were just guesses, not true numbers. Keeping track of the doses was never something he had to do, usually he just had to ask and any nurse on duty would get a cup of pills ready. Oli just couldn't remember, couldn't think, not with all the screaming going on in his ears.
Her hands on his only made it worse as his mind played tricks on him. The hands that held his looked like they had been burned to a crisp, with large talons arching out from the finger tips. That wasn't even mentioning the state of the room. The walls were breathing. Bleeding.
"P-Please, Miss. Ro... Rose. You d-don't understand."
