Skin Complexion: Fair
Height: 5'6"

Detailed Appearance: Maeve is one of the more prettier faces of the Glade. Despite not having the proper equipment to keep her clean, she makes do with the items that she has. Her burnt umber hair is natural, although it is speculated by the boys that she dyed it in her past life. Maeve refuses to believe that accusation. Her chocolate brown eyes often twinkle with the rising sun above the Glade. Her eyes are her favorite facial features.
Her nose is very centered and larger than normal. She inherited it from her mother. Luckily, not many pay attention to her nose. She has high cheekbones and naturally well-formed eyebrows. Her ears happen to be pierced, but since there are no earrings in the Glade, she has to deal with the holes in her ears.
To enhance her looks, she uses raspberry juice on her lips. In some ways, it's more comfortable to her than lipstick. She has strong leg muscles, partially because she is a runner and happened to be a track and field runner in her past life. There are scars on her right knee, from her surgery. Although they are rather subtle, if someone were to look close enough, they would see them.
Maeve also had a nose piercing, but it was removed when she was brought up to the Glade, thus making a small hole in her nose. She also has a strange disease that makes her bones stop growing in one of her toes. Her left ring toe is shorter than her pinkie one, but she is unafraid to embrace her flaw.

Personality:
Tough | Hopeless Romantic | Sarcastic | Courageous | Perfectionist
Maeve is no girly girl. She is tougher than a bull. She can survive the impossible. Although she is strong, she is modest about her abilities. That's why she doesn't want to be Keeper unless she really has to. Her modesty ends when it comes to her looks, she can't deny that she's extremely attractive. Of course, she never says that out loud, only in the quiet haven of her mind. A downside to her toughness is that she scares some people away, which isn't her intention.
She is also a hopeless romantic. She hopes that she'll find a soulmate, even if it means dating one of the Gladers. She is attracted to guys and girls, and has a small crush on the First in Command, but tries to hide it. She often dreams of going on extravagant dates with other people. Unfortunately, she's too nervous to ask anyone out.
Her sarcasm can be seen as being rude. But in reality, she just loves to make light out of the situation with some good ol' sarcasm. Sometimes she teases the Gladers, but some take it personally. In response, she would comfort them by giving them a little extra food, much to the cook's dismay. She uses her sarcastic marks as a defence mechanism when she feels uncomfortable, in hopes of pushing others away. There are a few Gladers that she could always feel comfortable sharing her feelings though.
Another strength of Maeve is that she is very courageous. Her courage and fearlessness made her a strong contender for runner when she first arrived. She has never run into any Grievers, but she knows that she can take one on easily. Whenever she is dared to do something, she won't back down as she considers in cowardly. Her bravery can be compared to those who have sacrificed themselves for the Glade, except she never died of course.
A major flaw of Maeve is her desire for everything to be perfect. When one thing goes wrong, she immediately gets upset. She'll go a long way to make everything right for herself. She'll even spend time drawing very detailed maps of the maze, which has caused her several times to almost miss the wall closing. Whenever she upsets someone, she'll go out of her way to fix the relationship or she'll feel guilty. Some people take advantage of her by making her think that they hate her.

History:
Before the Glade
Maeve doesn't remember much about her time before the Glade. There are three memories that have been able to pull through her mind though. She does not want to know more, as she is afraid it will upset her greatly.
There was a fire in her neighborhood. She remembers her sister waking her up and pulling her out of her bed. Her parents were screaming and shouting, packing things into bags. A weird government organization that started with W evacuated everyone, but they wanted to separate Maeve from her family. Her mother refused and she was shot in the head. Maeve was then put into a van with four other teenagers in her neighborhood. She remembers her sister trying to follow the van while her father pulled her back. Of course, Maeve didn't know who these people were.
The next memory was from when she was 9. She dislocated her knee and tore several muscles. They had just finished surgery and she felt weak and tired. A sixteen year old version of her sister came in and squeezed her hand. She kept telling her it was going to be okay, and things would be okay. Whenever she thinks of her sister, she immediately gets a calm feeling in herself. She assumed that her sister and her were very close, almost thinking that they were dating at a point too.
The final memory was in a field on a picnic. It was probably weeks before the fire happened. Her family was eating lunch together and discussing Hannah's life in college. For some reason, she wasn't talking during all of this. She was instead listening intently and watching the wind blow against the grass. It gave her a warm sense of belonging and happiness. It often makes her happy.
The Glade
Eight months before the present, she came up the shaft. She had no memory of who she was or what she was doing. When she arrived at the main area of the Glade. She stared at everyone, surprised at first before responding, "You all look like you've seen a ghost." She said to everyone in a snarky tone. Her nickname was feisty until the next day when she remembered her name, Maeve. She told everyone to call her by that and only close friends can say anything different.
After two weeks of doing several different jobs, the Keepers decided she would be best fit with the runners. She was pleased with the role and was very devoted to her work. She spent much of her time working hard, and then hanging out with others during her free time. She kept to the schedule and didn't ask lots of questions, which was what the Gladers wanted. She is a good mentor for the Greenies, but none of them approach her because they are afraid of her.
