”If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.”

Dropped, month by month, into a lift with supplies while sedated. That’s how each person came to be in the Glade. Never remembering why or how they ended up there, dozens of young adults now inhabit a large green pasture just outside a labyrinth that encases their destiny, unbeknownst to them. Also unbeknownst to them is the fact that they are each experiments. W.I.C.K.E.D: World in Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department is an organization formed to find a cure for the Flare (zombie virus). W.I.C.K.E.D used these teenagers, kids, young adults in order to develop a cure, but eventually W.I.C.K.E.D turns into a corrupted organization, out for blood and power over immunity.

It’s been years since the first experiment was lifted into the Glade. Now an entire population lives in the Glade, where there are only three rules for the ultimate living of life:

    1. Everyone does their part. No slackers.
    2. Never hurt another Glader. You have to trust each other.
    3. Never go outside the Glade, unless you’re a Runner.

As each person rose into the Glade by the lift, they were each given jobs. All were first put to work with the slicers, which work to care for the livestock and slaughtering them for food. Each job has a keeper which is the overseers of that job. Over all the Glade, there is a keeper council which acts as the Glade’s governing decisions.

In the Glade, every day is another day of surviving. Attempting to find a way out of the maze they’ve been stuck in for years now. With each month that passes, they hope for answers, they hope for an escape, they hope for life.

”Can’t take a chance that one day, in one spot, somewhere, an exit might appear. We can’t give up. Ever.”

Image[1] Real face claims. I do not do roleplays with anime/animated/drawn characters. I require that you use real people. For the sake of confusion, please do not use canon characters. Please find other FC's to substitute.

[2] Literacy. I expect all posts to be at a VERY minimum 250 words. I'd prefer 300 but I understand that sometimes we get writers blocks or we don't know how to exactly work off of each other's previous post and need a little wiggle room. This will not be an extremely advanced roleplay but please do not let it become too casual.

[3] Determination. This is something we’ve all heard before but honestly, it’s something I require. If you foresee a busy schedule in your near future, don’t add on to it by joining this RP. Sorry to sound mean but we just all want to see one of these survive. I will only require posting 3 to 4 times a week. Of course more is encouraged but this will be the bare minimum. However, I will state this now as well NO RAPID POSTING . This leaves people behind and causes people to drop out.

[4] Have fun. I want this to be something people enjoy. I want it to be a fantasy world that can expand any which way. Most people RP to escape for a little, so let’s try to make it as fun as possible.

[5] So that I know you read this far, when reserving a character please include a FC with a gif, a job (if you need a reference follow this link), and your favorite fantasy world. Thanks!

Here is a reference for those who need to brush up on their maze runner knowledge (spoilers.)

The Glade || July 23rd, 2228 || Day One

The air was dry and hot. It brought a warm and sticky sweat to Elliot’s forehead. The metal crate elevator underneath him was cool but there’s wasn’t enough surface area to the crate bottom to cool up all of Elliot’s body. He lay quiet, resting, sedated. As the crate elevator rapidly ascended, it neared the top of its shaft. At the top was either an end or a new beginning. A red light flashed in the elevator shaft as a loud blaring noise followed. The ascent was getting close to its end and that was the sound to let the whole world know – or just Elliot. The blaring sound woke him violently. Elliot was startled awake, his entire body now covered in a cold sweat rather than a warm one. He looked around the dark, small, confined space he was in, attempting to discover where he was but it as to no avail. He couldn’t see enough, not even with the red flashing light. Elliot panicked and began screaming at the top of his lungs, as if that would grab anyone’s attention – as if there was anyone around for attention to be grabbed. He kicked, screamed, and thrashed around in the small crate. He kicked around the supplies he was stuck in there with, unaware of what they were. “Hey! Let me out of here!” No matter how hard he screamed, no one would hear him. Elliot was alone.

It wasn’t until the crate stopped moving that Elliot calmed down. His breathing was shallow, quick, and shaky. He laid on the crate, leaning on his elbows, staring up at the blue blur that was just past the crate’s opening. Elliot maneuvered in the short box to be able to kneel right under the opening of the crate. It took him a second but when he finally gained the courage to do so, Elliot opened the crate he stood in to be welcomed by a beating ray of sunshine to his face. He brought his arm over his face to cover the sun’s ray. He looked around to see the new world he’d be living in. He lived like this for a while. Elliot learned that he was alone and he had no idea how long it’d be until someone else, if anyone, would join him. He lived on the land for a month before anyone joined him. Elliot made himself a home, he created a bed for himself out of the tools and supplies provided for him. Every day he looked at the note that was left in his pocket: Here are supplies given for you to live. Use them wisely. W.I.C.K.E.D is good.

Elliot was unprepared for this adventure. His first night consisted of sleepless hours and darting eyes. Elliot had spent the day scouting the land, trying to find any other form of life that had been dropped there. To his demise, Elliot was alone. He spent several hours plotting the land into the sand to figure out his next move. He stood, at one point, at the opening of the great stone wall in front of him. He peered inside the corridor that lead to God knows what. Elliot was too afraid to walk into the opening, unaware of what might happen if he did. That night, Elliot sat by a small fire he had started in the middle of the pasture. He slept for only a few hours, which was only brought on accidently as he attempted to stay awake the whole night. The loud roaring of the maze doors closing kept him awake for majority of the night but when he finally fell asleep, he wasn’t awakened until the doors roared open again. The next few days, Elliot plotted the land with regions. Plants, water, and crops in one corner; home in another corner, maze plotting behind the homestead. He gave each section of the pasture a purpose. He created a life for himself.

Just short of a month had gone by and Elliot had begun believing he was the only one in the maze. He had seen no end in sight and no possibility of any other life form joining him. Elliot was panicked for those last few days in the month. He was sure someone would have come for him by now, but when no one had, Elliot began plotting his escape. He knew the schedule of the maze, he knew when it would open and when it would close. The last few days of the month where his first trial runs in the maze. Then was when he discovered the insides of the maze. He discovered the maze had more than just the walls to it. The maze had monsters, creatures set out to kill him. The maze had walls that turned and creaked and was different every time he went back in. He knew it’d take him a while to plot the land and then plot his escape indefinitely.

When Elliot finally began feeling comfortable by himself, a month had gone by. He was out by the crops, weeding away the dead plants and weeds when he could hear a loud blaring horn. His head quickly popped out of the greens as he had remembered the noise. He ran over to the box to see it rising with more inside. It was only two weeks ago that more supplies were sent up. Elliot had expected more supplies this time around but was shocked by a body inside the crate. As soon as it stopped, he quickly hopped on top of the metal box and propped open one of the doors for the girl inside. Elliot made eye contact with the girl, “Hi.”

Now, an entire colony joins Elliot and while he sleeps slightly more soundly at night, he waits for the day where answers are given and he is removed from this glade.

The Glade || August 4th, 2232 || Day 1472

Lot was usually awake before anyone else was. That was part of his being the first-in-command. He needed to scout the land to be sure all was safe for the other Gladers. He’d walk the length of the Glade to be sure that all was going as planned. It was also part of the fact that ever since that first day, Lot has had a tough time actually staying asleep. He usually beat the doors of the maze and was awake before they roared open, waking everyone else up. Earlier in the morning he had walked the length of the Glade, including the forest where many of the past were buried. Lot usually liked to pay his respects to them in the morning – most usually forgot about the deceased shortly after they were gone. While in the forest, Lot came across a fresh blood trail that lead to a body.

Lot had rushed back into the open area of the Glade and woke a few up to join him in the hunt of whatever it was that killed the boy. With him was builder James, medjack Jo, and bagger Xavier, and his right hand lady, Mia. The five of them walked out into the small section of woods that were located in the corner of the Glade. The five stood over the lifeless body of one of the Gladers. His name was Hector. He was fairly new still and very quiet. It looked as though he had been stung by a griever and had returned to the woods to die, alone and quietly. Lot told the crew to take care of it while he and Mia formed a meeting to figure out what to do about the griever issue. He pulled Mia aside and spoke softly so no one else would hear her, “Something is going on here and we need to figure out what it is. I’ve seen grievers by the doors lately,” Lot paused and looked around to see if anyone was listening. When he’d come to realize no one was, he continued, “They’re starting to invade. I’m calling a meeting.”

Lot walked back into the square where he figured all could be within an ear-shot. He called out to the lot of them, “I need all keepers in the meeting hall!” Lot began to walk towards the meeting hall when Xavier stopped him by grabbing his arm. “What are you going to do about Hec?” Lot and Xav met eyes and Lot could see the anger in Xavier’s eyes. “I don’t know yet Xavier. We’re going to try to figure that out now.” Xavier scoffed in his face. “You have no idea what you’re doing, do you?” Lot’s eyes narrowed into Xavier and curled his upper lips in aggravation. “Who the hell does Xavier?” Lot pulled his arm away aggressively and walked into the meeting hall. He knew everyone else had just witnessed that interaction and now all eyes were on Lot and anyone who wasn’t in that meeting was going to be curious as hell as to what was going on. Word was going to travel fast and that’s exactly what he didn’t want. Lot sighed loudly and ran his hand through his hair as he walked to stand in front of all the Keepers called into meeting. “Listen, something is happening out there. We found Hector’s body ripped to shreds in the woods. He got attacked by a griever. We need to figure out what’s going on in the maze.” Lot didn’t know what the rest of them would think about it, but he knew that they needed to send out a group of runners not only to track the maze and plot it, but to discover what was going on with the grievers. “Kane, I need you to send out a group. I think it’d be good to send them out at night. I know we usually don’t do that but I think it’s our only way to figure out what was going on with the grievers and why they’re starting to attack at all hours of the day.” Lot fought to get those words out fast before the room was sent into an uproar. Sending the runners out after the grievers was crazy enough but sending the runners out after the grievers at night! after the doors close! Well, that’s just ludicrous.

The room was left in an uproar and Lot wasn’t sure if he’d be able to grab anyone’s attention to calm everyone down. He looked to Mia and shook his head. He didn’t know what to do at this point. He knew the idea was crazy, but what else was he to do? What else was there to do? In Lot’s mind, nothing. This was their last resort. If he had to go in there himself, he would. He hoped it wouldn’t come down to that honestly, it’s been so long since he’s been in there. He was terrified of the possibility. His gaze stuck to Mia as though he was asking for help.

MIA BLUNT

The Glade | August 4th 2232

Mia had once again struggled through another night of incredibly unpleasant, disturbing and harrowing sleeplessness. She was haunted by the ever growing louder howls of Grievers and the cries of those in the night who were still too fear stricken to find comfort in their subconscious. She'd laid in her hammock all night, her palms flat on her stomach with her eyes wide open staring at the sky. As she grew drearier and her eyelashes fell more heavily over her lids, the thick dark lashes began to form into Grievers, swarming over the walls of the Maze, infiltrating and worming the way inside; ruining everything and leaving nothing behind. She could almost taste the smoke as she watched the people she'd grown to love as family run and flee the monsters that guarded their prison. She couldn't remember when the shadows of the night had disappeared and been replaced with the ominous shine of day but as though awakening even though the unconsciousness of sleep had never occurred to her that evening, she slowly became aware of footsteps, she was quick to swing out of her hammock, removing her knife from it's sheath but before she could lift the weapon as a threat or plunge towards her pursuer, her mind caught up with her body and she recognised Lot.

She didn't speak as to avoid awakening the others because she could see the urgency and fear in Lot's eyes, so she lowered her knife and nodded soundlessly to him and stood to her fall height walking after him. She wouldn't pretend that Lot's behaviour didn't make her uneasy. What could have happened? She prayed it be nothing awful, that no pain had afflicted to any of the Gladers but she knew better. She could see in Lot's eyes someone was hurt and if not worse, dead. She followed him loyally, slightly ahead of the other three he'd awoken.

The further they got into the woods, the more her heart filled with dread and by the time she laid her eyes upon Hector's body, she was no longer surprised but still not prepared. She shook her head sorrowfully at the sight and knelt on dry leaves by the body.

"He was stung," She confirmed. Her voice cracked and her heart torn that those were the first words she had to speak that day. She kissed her finger tips and pressed them to his forehead sympathetically but more importantly, out of respect.

"Rest in peace Hec, I'm sorry," She whispered gravely before stepping away noticing how Elliot looked like he wanted to talk to her and she could easily guess why.

As he explained his desire for meeting, Mia understood and agreed on the importance of having an assembly but what unnerved her on how they were going to explain and what they might say. The last thing she wanted was to send the Gladers into a flurry of unforeseen panic and fear. They were owed clarity and a fair decision. It didn't feel right to go to them all unless they had something to tell them, something they could give them to hold on to for comfort.

The brunette turned her chestnut gaze up to him and nodded thoughtfully before she spoke. "I agree, we need to take some form of action as soon as we possibly can but I wouldn't call a meeting unless you know what you're going to say yet Elliot. We don't want to distress anyone, but you're right we need to up are game; before anybody else dies," As she spoke her last sentence she turned her dark gaze to Hector and sighed, shaking her head gently. "That, that shouldn't have happened," She exhaled heavily as she frowned weakly.

She followed Lot at his heel and upon noticing Xavier's agitation and aggressive nature she glared at him warningly.

"Unless you think you could do a better job or have something to bring the table, stay out of it and leave him to it. He's been co-exiting with Grievers longer than any of us, so if anyone knows it's him," She reminded lowly. It was a known fact Mia wasn't someone to push around and consequently this almost instantaneously gave her favourites like Elliot, Maeve and sometimes Nate too, a veil of protection. No one would get a bad word about them edge ways if Mia was in ear shot and if they tried, she'd have no problem with tackling them to the ground till they ate their words.

As the meeting was coordinated and the keepers rolled quietly into the room together, Mia sat to a distance watching everyone's expressions and reactions as they gathered. She then waited very patiently for Lot to speak. Though she didn't have to wait long, what he said came to her with a certain element of shock and surprise and the uproar was expectable and something she would have assumed Lot was capable of foreseeing.

"Everyone, be quiet. Even I'll admit the idea seems half rash but-," She continued looking at Lot so he knew he had her support. "Assuming we exercise our best tactics and plan wisely, it could be effective. No one is suggesting this is rushed or unplanned. We'll of course do everything we can to minimize the risks and plan accordingly but I don't think it's an idea to completely cast aside. Anything any of you want to say or add, please say it but for heaven's sake be respectful and don't all speak at once; we're not children, okay? Lot's only trying to think of what's best and how we can protect ourselves and not all end up purpled veined and stone cold like Hector and all the others we've lost before. So please, just think twice," Despite her upset over the loss of another innocent Glader, her presence as always was a calm one and her aura tranquil and controlled. Even though she was one of the more emotional Gladers, she was one of the most private and collected too. It was the main reason most people found it so easy to respect her and appreciate her as a superior rank.

MAEVE COLLINS
Outfit

Maeve did not expect to be awoken early by Lot. The runner sat upright from her hammock and squinted. Sure enough, Lot, Mia, and a few other Gladers were causing a commotion. The last thing she needed was for something out of the ordinary to happen. She checked her watch, grunting at the time. She was lucky enough to be one of the few people that got to have a watch. She slipped out of her hammock and put on her running shoes. The girl's hair was very unkempt but she honestly couldn't give a damn at the moment.

She had some time to kill before going out into the Maze, so she should spend it wisely. Her eyes scanned the area for anyone she knew that wouldn't be angry if she bothered them. Lot was busy, so he was out of the question. Although she certainly enjoyed the male's company. Mia too was busy. But she didn't really feel like talking to her yet. She looked over at the other side of the Glade. The womanizer Nate would certainly be fun to talk to, he wouldn't at all mind her company. Ashley wouldn't be too bad either, the two could have been fraternal twins if they had the same parents.

There were people already gossiping about what had happened. Apparently someone had died. No wonder all of the keepers including Kane, the Keeper of Runners, and stupid Aryn. "If this person really is dead, how could he have died? It's not like one of us is a murderous psychopath," she huffed, rolling her eyes after she got shrugging as a response. "Whatever klunkheads."

An idea popped into the girl's head and a smirk formed on her lips. The Greenie. He was perfect, not in the way someone would think. He was perfect for the girl's plan, he would become her pawn in Operation Seduce Lot. If she could get him to be head over heels in love with her, things would work out perfectly.

"Ohh Greenie!" She called out in a sing song voice. She began sashaying in an elegant manner to where he usually would be. If he was not there however, she would probably look near the fields which was where he worked. Her brown orbs searched the area tentatively. "Where the hell are you? She called out, getting an annoyed glare from Lexa, one of the slicers. Masve turned in her direction and blew a kiss before continuing her adventure of finding Theo.

It had been one of those nights again. One of those nights where Theodor woke up sweating and frightened because he had one of his dreams/flashbacks. This time it was the one about his sister, or so he thinks that’s who the girl is and he only says that because sometimes it's like looking into a mirror plus she has identical blue eyes as his. He woke up right when he began to feel and hear the panic in his sister's voice when they dragged her out the room kicking and screaming for him. Theo sat up in his hammock, took a couple of deep breaths and ran his fingers through his sweaty hair making it stick up a little in certain places. He tried being as quiet as he could because it was the middle of the night, maybe 2 or 3 in the morning and he didn't want to be that one annoying guy who woke up half the gladers to use the bathroom or something.

The night was hot and sticky so instead of going for a walk to calm his nerves Theo pulled his shirt over his head and laid back down. He let his eyes travel around the camp a little, what he could see form where he was laying anyway. His eyes focused in and out on a flame that belong to one of the torches that were surrounding the camp. Just watching the flame was enough to calm his nerves enough for him to begin counting the night stars so he could fall asleep again. Just then though there was a loud howl from the maze that made his eyes shoot open. He heard a small whimper from some gladers who obviously weren’t asleep and fearful of the noises and he felt kind of bad but he only looked towards the walls. Stared for a bit while thinking about getting out one day until he felt his eyes slowly shut again and be taken over by sleep.

Image

Footsteps could be heard in the distance and that's what got Theo to finally open his eyes. They were greeted by the warm rays of the morning sun which caused him to squint for a second as his eyes adjusted. He gave them a rub before opening them fully. There was a awful quiet moment that followed the footsteps before they began again and curiously Theo propped himself up onto his elbows just in time to see the back of Lot's and Mia's head. Apparently he had a few others with him and they were heading towards the forest. He watched until the stirring from others waking up or turning over in their hammocks snapped him out of that little moment where you sometimes space out in the morning.

Theo's mind briefly wondered what that was all about before he swung his legs from his hammock and stood up fully, stretching out his limbs. Although the morning was still hot something about the sun on his bare chest made him feel warm and more awake if that made any sense. By the time Theo had did his little morning routine where he woke up, used the bathroom and splashed some water in his face and through his hair Lot was back with the little group he had assembled and others were either awake and about or just waking up. He walked back to his hammock while watching what just happened between Lot and Xavier. What were they arguing about? He wondered as his hand reached down for his canteen and he took a couple of sips from it.

That's when Lot called for all the keepers and this peaked Theodor's curiosity even more. He wanted to go and see what all this commotion was about but when he grabbed his shirt he heard his nickname being called out though there were other greenies besides him so he wasn't so sure until he turned around, shirt in hand. His eyes met a runner by the name of Maeve. Unusual and pretty he thought the name was as he walked up to her with his head and left arm already in the shirt. "Looking for me?" He asked as he slipped the rest of his shirt on and rolled up the already short sleeves until they were a neat fold on each side. Bright blue eyes met brown ones as he opened his mouth again to speak. "Know what's up with Lot and calling all the keepers?"

The previous night was terrible. For some reason Ash couldn't get to sleep and when she finally did it felt like it had only been an hour before people around her began moving around. Most in the Glade had nightmares every night but Ash didn't, at least not every night. She laid in her hammock, eyes closed and trying to ignore the fact that it was nearly time to get up anyway. It was useless so she sat up and swung her feet over the edge. Almost everyone was out of their hammocks at this point. She jumped to the floor and slid on her shoes and her jacket.

The thing about the Glade is that you didn't necessarily have everything you needed, like a comb. Lucky for Ash her hair seemed to naturally know it's place but she ran her fingers through it anyway. Outside she noticed the meeting hall was occupied by Lot and the Keepers. Wonder what's going on? She though to herself as she made her way towards the forest for her daily walk. Seeing that everyone was up earlier than usual she had some time to kill before it was time to check on the recently injured. She didn't get far when she overheard Hector had been killed. She froze at the edge of the forest, Probably not the best idea. She sighed turning back around and made her way to the Medic room to check on patients. There weren't many and most were asleep but at least she will have started her work early.

As she changed bandages she couldn't help wonder how Hec died. He hadn't been there that long. Perhaps the keepers will tell them once they are dismissed from the meeting, she will have to ask Aryn. This death tauntingly reminded her of the boy she killed the first day she got here. She shook the thought out of her head, it was an accident. Not her fault.

Iggy was always one of the first ones up. It wasn't that he was a morning person - he really wasn't an any-time-of-the-day-person - it was just easier that way. He didn't sleep much to begin with, and it was usually a good idea to get breakfast as soon as possible, since he spent most of the day in the maze.

Typically, the early-group was small, not even all the Cooks were out yet, and Iggy could eat in peace. Lately, however, Alex had found himself in the same crowd. That little brat was a morning person. Iggy hated it. He hated it even more than he seemed to be the focus of Alex's attention for the day.

"Anyway, do you know what happened? I'll tell you! I nearly fell! Right there! In a pile of klunk! Can you believe that!"

Iggy raised dark, furious eyes at Alex slowly, thinking that maybe if he just cut that tongue out of his face, the kid could stop bothering all of them. It was too early for anyone to be talked to like this. He closed his eyes, inhaled thickly. What was it Lot had told him? Count to ten before reacting? One...Two...

"I'm really glad I didn't fall in that, though," Alex continued, just as enthusiastically as he had been before. "I mean, can you imagine the smell, Ig?"

Iggy let out his breath slowly. Three...Four...

Alex was reaching for his plate. Iggy could feel it even before his eyes snapped open. Fivesixseveneight- Alex's hand went for his eggs, and Iggy snapped. He growled, and was up from his spot seated on the ground in a second, hand wrapped firmly in the front of Alex's shirt. "Are you jacked?!" he spat out.

Alex's eyes were wide as saucers, and Ig wondered how hard he would have to knock those teeth in before the kid got it. He was a simple guy. Didn't want people to talk to him, touch him, or even so much as look at his food.

"Put him down, Ignacious," Jin advised coolly from where he was still passing out food. "And Alex, leave Iggy alone, alright?"

Alex was looking at him with wide, frightful eyes, and the last thing Ig wanted was to let him go. But when Jin simply arched an eyebrow and tilted his head towards where Lot was approaching with the others, Iggy made the right choice. He'd already been in trouble recently, no need going back.

He dropped the kid, and Alex wasted no time hurrying away, before Lot was calling up all the Keepers. Ig cocked his head thoughtfully, popping his knuckles while he watched. Lot was in full leader mode. Something must have happened. "Wonder what's up," someone mused from beside him.

Iggy shrugged and sank back down to the ground, picking up his food once again. He didn't know what was going on, but he had a feeling he needed to be well fed to deal with it.

Image

The nights were rough on Kane as they were any other Glader. With every blink working towards a prolonged sleep came with flashing images of the maze. He’s been having the same recurring nightmare for the past 3 months now – He’s walking through the maze alone. It’s night out and somehow he got stuck out in the maze on his own. All he has with his is a small knife and nothing else. He tiptoes through the maze, trying to stay alive until the sun comes up. He can feel the warmth of the sun starting to rise but there’s no light coming down into the maze. His stomach his nervous and his heart palpitates nervously. The maze, in his dream, is endless twists and turns, darker with every turn. Just as he rounds a corner, he’s faced with a griever and that’s where the dream ends. Every night it’s the same. He wakes up in a cold sweat and a frenzy trying to catch a breath.

He's never able to sleep more than a few hours anymore, so instead of wasting his time trying, Kane runs. He’ll run the length of the Glade, over and over until the sun comes up. It’s easier for Kane to sleep when the sun’s up, so he’ll catch a few hours of shut eye before the sun is at its brightest. This night was no different. Kane had been plagued with his nightmare yet again and instead of fighting with his demons, he got up from his hammock, got dressed, strapped his boots on and went for a run around the Glade. This time he ran longer than he normally did. He ran the length of the Glade several times; so much so that on his last run, he ran into Mia and Lot walking back from the woods. “Hey guys, what’s going on?” Kane asked, slowing down next to them as they departed from the other three they were with. Kane looked around, confused as to what was going on. Neither of the two answered him as Xavier and Lot got into it. Kane was a little taken aback about what was happening, but being so close he was able to hear the reason for the secrecy was Hector’s death. Kane didn’t know how to react, so he didn’t. Kane trailed behind Lot and Mia as they walked back to the Glade’s center. Lot called a meeting and Kane followed him and the other Keepers into the meeting hall. What the hell could possibly be going on right now? Kane genuinely confused, unaware the grievers were the reason for Hector’s passing.

In the meeting hall, tension was so thick it could be cut with a blade. Kane’s head whipped around trying to follow everything that was going on, he was having a hard time following the confused mumbling from others. He tried to listen in on what others were talking about but Lot very quickly cut everyone off but speaking, causing the room to fall quiet. “Listen, something is happening out there. We found Hector’s body ripped to shreds in the woods. He got attacked by a griever. We need to figure out what’s going on in the maze.” What the hell?! Kane’s eyes darted again through the room as people began to shout and call back at Lot. No fucking way this was actually happening right now. Then Lot directed his attention to Kane specifically, the boy fell nervous again, just as he does at night. “Kane, I need you to send out a group. I think it’d be good to send them out at night. I know we usually don’t do that but I think it’s our only way to figure out what was going on with the grievers and why they’re starting to attack at all hours of the day.”

Kane was suddenly hit by a truck, at least that’s what it felt like. He could see nothing but white, he could hear nothing but a ringing in his ears. His eyes felt heavy and Kane blinked several times as though he was trying to get this bad idea out of his mind, out of sight. His body felt both numb and ached with immense pain. The air in him escaped and Kane could not breathe for the life of him. “Lot, man… you can’t be serious.” To Kane, it was as though his nightmare was ringing true right in front of him. “Are you daft? Seriously man, have you gon’t klunked? Are you trying to kill us? There’s no way that you’re sending me and my guys out there, expecting us to live!” Kane’s voice raised into a shout.

Kane ran out of the meeting hall as everyone else’s voices raised or didn’t. Some were left dumbfounded, left quiet by Kane’s reaction. Others rose their voices in uproar alongside Kane. Kane walked out shouting at everyone. “Can I get all my fucking runners out here? Because apparently, Mr. Big Shot over there is trying to kill us all. We’re gonna do a vote, right here and right now.” Kane turned his head when he could hear a voice behind him shouting out to him. “Kane! Shut it! Don’t get klunked man. You’ll get stuck in the lock up, so cut it out.” Kane wasn’t bothered by getting locked up but something came over him and he got quiet. The eyes of the Gladers widened and if they didn’t know what was going on before, they certainly had a clue now. “Fuck you, Lot.” Kane walked off, towards the maze, leaving everyone else to their devices.

________________________________________

Aryn sometimes liked to think of herself as an early riser, but then she'd be lying to herself. She wasn't in her normal cheery mode, as she was forced to get up way too early in her standards.

She was in a particularly strange dream. Walking through a darkly lit room, with cylindrical tanks lining the room in rows for as far as she could see. She walked up to one, lightly brushing her fingers across the surface, it was cool to the touch, and the water bubbled ever so often. She looked up at her face reflecting through the glass, but it was blurred and contorted, she took a hesitant step back, but before she could comprehend any aspect she was roughly shoved in her hammock, jolting her awake.

She just managed to let out a small, "Hmm?" as she shifted in her hammock to face fiery Carrie, who already looked up and ready to go. "It's Lot, he called a meeting" She said before she hurried off.

She let out a small noise of irritation as she watched Carrie run off, leaving her in her hammock. She was confused on why he had called a meeting, but trusted him none the less, so she pushed herself up. She slowly got up, slipping on her worn brown boots, and stretched her back, popping with a quiet, satisfying click. She ran her fingers through her hair a bit, the mass of strawberry colored straw pieces falling in unruly waves across her shoulders.

As she began her trek to the Meeting building, she noticed a couple of the early risers up and kicking, some of them off to eat breakfast. She offered a small wave to Maeve and Greenie, as she passed them but they were too busy talking. She didn't expect a wave back but it was the least she could do, Maeve had not taken a liking to her. She didn't really know why exactly but the girl just flat out despised her. She didn't let it try to bother her too much, but it still made it quite awkward when Lot tried to talk to her and Maeve was always close behind.

Her thoughts were quickly dismissed as she neared the Meeting she could tell something wasn't right, all around her Keepers were fuming, some looked almost disappointed. She searched through all of them till her eyes fell on Lot, he looked quite tense maybe a bit stressed, and she gave him almost a quizzical look. What could he have said to get everyone this riled up? “Listen, something is happening out there. We found Hector’s body ripped to shreds in the woods. He got attacked by a griever. We need to figure out what’s going on in the maze.” The words were like a bullet through Aryn, A griever attack during the day? That was unusual, unheard of.

"Assuming we exercise our best tactics and plan wisely, it could be effective. No one is suggesting this is rushed or unplanned. We'll of course do everything we can to minimize the risks and plan accordingly but I don't think it's an idea to completely cast aside." Aryn still couldn't process what both of the Leaders where trying to say, send a group out? At Night? Only a couple had survived the Maze at night, and after Hector they couldn't lose anyone else. She could see the same thoughts across Kane's, Keeper of the Runners, face, and before she could comprehend he was storming out of the building heading towards the maze.

From a Medjack point of view this was a nightmare, how many half dead bodies were they going to drag back, that she couldn't even save? She had to find Ashley, she always had a good opinion on everything and this was something that Aryn needed a second opinion on. She slipped quietly out of the building, she didn't want to risk anyone asking for her opinion, she believed she didn't even have one yet.

She made her way into the Medjack building, and finally let out a breath she had been holding in when she saw Ashley attended to one of the younger Gladers. "Ashley, they found Hector dead, Griever, they're thinking about sending a group into the Maze, at night". The words tumbled out abrupt and jumbled, but she didn't know how else to lay down the big news.

Nate was awoken by the sound of hushed whispers coming from the other hammocks near him. He groaned rolling over in his towards the group of talkative Gladers. "What in the hell is so important that you shanks had to wake me up?" His voice was muffled from the fabric of the hammock, as he opened one eye to see Nic talking to another one of the young Gladers, a boy, who's name Nate wasn't too familiar with. The boy looked quite terrified at Nate's abrupt interruption, while Nic looked more annoyed. "Well, one of you two better spit it out", He said shifting on the edge of his hammock so he was facing the both of them, Nic was like a fox. He always counted on her to find out all information that was floating around the Glade. "Lot just called a Keeper meeting", she spoke her face turning an ashy white, "We heard they found Hec dead, torn to shreds". Nate was shocked at the information, and instantly images of Henry flashed through his mind. Was there a rogue Glader? That was the only explanation he could conjure up, and it wasn't a good one. Many thoughts, and emotions racked his brain. First, Anger, how could that bumbling idiot of a leader could have let this happen? Lot couldn't even take care of a rock, let alone a damn community. Second, Fear, stuff like this never just happened once, whoever, whatever did this is surely still out there waiting to do it again. Third, Curiosity, he wondered how Lot was going to handle the situation, no doubt at the moment he had a bunch of angry Gladers up his ass, and that was just the right equation for a rash, dumb idea that would kill all of them.

Nate had never gotten out of his hammock so fast, he had to steady himself to make sure that he wouldn't fall over. "You're positive?" He asked, grabbing his knife slipping it into a belt he had managed to snag from one of the supply boxes. Nic just nodded, her eyes still wide as saucers. He knew the boy, Hec. He was fairly new, young, and Nate had talked to him sometimes when they boy couldn't fall asleep. Now the thought of the poor boy torn to shreds made him want to empty the contents of last night's dinner. He turned back to Nic, and could tell the girl was slightly traumatized, he leaned over and ruffled her hair, wanting to ease her tension. "Thanks Kiddo", cracking a grin at her scowl from the pet name. Nic had become like a little sister to him, and he had always looked out for her ever since they met on the Glade.

He grabbed some of his stuff, said a quick goodbye to Nic and the young boy, before walking off towards a large area where many Gladers normally accumulated. His eyes immediately locked on the beautiful brunette, Maeve, who he noticed had hers locked on the Greenie. He couldn't help but let out a small chuckle as he watched her toy with the Greenie, Maeve was quite the firecracker. He couldn't help but think about the other brunette, Mia, he had to blink harshly to get the image of her out of his head. She was just another Glader girl, and 'Lot's' practical sister... He thought, and had no doubt that she was at the meeting calming everyone down, she had that effect on a lot of people.

He approached the Greenie, and Dark-haired Princess, just in time to catch the boy's last sentence, "Know what's up with Lot and calling all the keepers?". He gave the Greenie a firm pat on the shoulder and slipped a smile to Maeve, "I was just about to ask you both the same question", he decided to see if they knew anything, before relaying the information he had gotten from Nic.

Lot’s head dropped with the weight of stress on him. He knew that there was going to be at least one person that wasn’t going to react well to his news. Although, to be completely honest, not many people did react well. Some just reacted less bad than others. Kane’s reaction, however, was completely expected but it certainly wasn’t hoped for. What could Lot do? What was he to do about it? He was doing the best he could for what he had, for what he knew, for where they were. What the hell did people expect from him? Lot shook his head and followed the crowd that just dismissed themselves from the meeting.

Kane stood out in the courtyard, shouting, to the other Gladers. Lot spoke up as quickly as he could, with the hope that he could get Kane to stop talking. “Kane! Shut it! Don’t get klunked man. You’ll get stuck in the lock up, so cut it out.” Kane looked disgustingly at Lot and cursed at him before walking towards the maze. Lot, on the other hand, waited for the crowd to soften up a little before he started speaking up again. “Everyone, there is a matter of safety that it is being addressed. As of right now, we know as much as you do about what’s going on. As soon as we know more, you’ll know more. For the time being, go about your duties as usual. Thank you.” Lot’s eyes were tired. He knew not what to do but was doing his best to keep everyone under control.

While people trickled away from the middle of the Glade to their posts, Lot let his shoulders fall. The heaviness of weight that was piled on him showed in his weariness. Lot stuck around by Mia after all that’s happened. He spoke softly to her, “Maybe I should be the one out there. I shouldn’t ask them to do something I wouldn’t do, you know?” Lot’s arms crossed across his chest and he sighed deeply. From a short distance he could see Aryn and a smile fell gently upon his cheeks. His affections for her grew and the thought came to his mind that perhaps his going out into the maze at night was his best chance for her protection. He wanted to do the best he could for everyone in the Glade but for her to be protected, meant the world to Lot. He looked at Mia and smiled gently. I know it better than anyone out there. I’d be their best bet.” This time, as Lot spoke, his eyes locked with Maeve. His stomach rumbled with emotion.

He made it about half way to the maze before turning around; Kane walked towards the crowd that had not yet dispersed. There he found two of his runners close by, Mae and Iggy. He joined Maeve, who stood with the Greenie and Nate. He gave the two a nodded greeting and then looked at his runner. “Hey you, what do you think about going for a run?” Kane looked over Maeve’s shoulder to where Mia and Lot stood, talking. He nodded his head towards Lot and spoke again, “Boss man’s trying to kill us to might as well get a round done before he goes crazy and has us sent out.” He didn’t wait for the girl to respond before calling out to an eating Iggy, “Are you ready to go, too? I could use you out there.” The group stood around talking, while everyone else got to work. Kane wanted to get to work too, but he wasn’t quite ready to die. Not alone anyway. Kane called out to Lot before he turned around to walk back towards the maze. “Anytime you want to join us too, Boss. Let me know. It’d be nice for you to see what we do out there.” Kane very well knew that Lot knew more than enough about the maze, but Kane was bitter and he had a grudge to hold.

She was brought out of her thought when the poor kid began to whimper. "Shh, it's ok. You're fine. She cooed as she ran her fingers through his hair trying to sooth him back to sleep. Finally he did and she went back to finish his new bandage. This one thing that made her feel like it was worth being in the Glade, being able to help heal people. It made her feel human, this place can make you feel like the world outside wasn't even there anymore. They all knew there was an outside world, at least she did, she just didn't know why they were out there and Gladers were in here.

She turned towards the entrance when she heard a sigh and saw Aryn and smiled. Before Ash could greet her friend Aryn began to speak, "Ashley, they found Hector dead, Griever, they're thinking about sending a group into the Maze, at night." She was shocked to hear the Lot even thought that was a good idea. She turned to finish the bandage before standing on her feet. Everything in her wanted to yell but she didn't need the poor injured souls being in anymore pain than they already were, nor did they need to worry about others getting killed. "Is he insane!? They're going to get killed! She hissed under her breath. This was the craziest thing she'd ever heard. Sending runners out into the maze at night. "Aryn you have to convince him that this isn't a good idea. Half of those kids will come back dead or injured."

MIA BLUNT

The Glade | August 4th 2232
Clothes
________________________________________

Image
It was difficult. The whole situation was almost impossible to work with or manipulate. Grievers and Gladers, both were complicated things and maybe Mia's respect for that is what made her the best person to consider it over and formulate some kind of plan or idea, but she didn't have time for that. They were talking about going in now, at the next opportunity and she wasn't sure how she felt about that. In her heart, she had the same dread of any other Glader about the Maze at night. She couldn't pretend to be comfortable with the idea and although in a heart beat she'd volunteer herself to go and all would know that true, she knew her duty too important. There wasn't a Glader with her same sense of rationality and ability to bring tranquillity, she didn't mean that boastingly- she just understood her strengths and weaknesses well.

She found herself distracted however when she noticed Nate across the Glade and she shivered with anger she directed only to herself for acknowledging the boy. He may be older than a boy but in her opinion, he still acted like one but there was a part of her which she whole heartedly resented that couldn't help admire some of his qualities. She didn't allow herself to think of them though and quickly turned her attention to Lot who was confiding in her once more.

“Maybe I should be the one out there. I shouldn’t ask them to do something I wouldn’t do, you know?”

She hated the idea.

She hated the thought.

It was selfish because she hated it because she couldn't bare the thought of Lot being harmed or more likely, killed by a Griever but politically, she understood it would look far more admirable to the Gladers and more just. She understood morally, Nate probably felt obliged and strategically, he did know the Maze better than anybody else.

It made sense but she didn't like it at all.

"If you must, I won't stop you and it does make sense but don't be rash Elliot. When did you last go in the Maze? And how prepared are you for what's out there? Really? And you'd leave us without a leader Lot. And heaven forbid it went wrong, we wouldn't last any longer than 24 hours," She admitted her concerns because she trusted Lot but weakness like this she'd never indulge any other Glader in witnessing. Mia was an incredibly proud individual and quite rightly so but still, she didn't like to let on to when things were out of her control.

Her eyes turned over all the Gladers, Maeve who she loved like a sister was with Kane; they two probably thought awfully of Lot now (maybe even Mia too for trying to defend his idea), she looked at Nate finding herself concerned as to if he'd disrespect her decision to support Lot to as big an extent as she could. She knew some Gladers liked to insist her loyalty was as ill placed as her faith but she disagreed, she always had. Some Gladers might be angry at her but she couldn't worry about petty disagreements now. There was a bigger issue at hand.

"I can't tell you what to do or how to do things Lot and you know very well I'd never try to but I do urge you think twice about something like this. Yes, they might respect you more for it and maybe you do know the Maze well but is it worth the risk with? Your the leader Lot, you're their hope; if this went wrong, who'd they look up to then? There'd be no hope. So unless you can look me dead in the eye and say you're not gonna die out there, I'm not sure you should rush into this so quickly," She told him, bluntly but fairly and her words were as ever true.

She stood by Lot and pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment before moving her hand to run through her dark brown locks missing the streak which was still stained red, the only trace of her life from before the Maze she had left. She didn't understand how the dye remained, it was paler then it had been at the start but the tone of the colour still ran through in occasional streaks. She had once joked to Lot she'd have to tip her hair dresser when she got back.

But more recently the joke had been rephrased to 'if' she got back.

She sighed and let go of the hair she'd taken to tugging on and paced a little forward, turning her intelligent chestnut gaze over the Glade once more considering it all. Thinking about how it began, how it was now and how it might be if this mission of Lot's went wrong.

It would never be the same.

She wasn't even convinced it'd last.

She'd do everything she could to keep the peace, whether it be for her continued life in the Maze with Lot as a leader, or for 24 hours whilst he was in the Maze or permanently after because it went wrong. She'd always do everything to keep the peace, that was her purpose in the Glade. She mediated squabbles and rows between Gladers young and old, she was a confidante for many and advisor to all but she didn't know if she could keep that up should chaos and fear pursue them all.

MAEVE COLLINS
Outfit

Maeve's pupils dilated as the Greenie put his shirt back on. His muscles were not as prominent as she thought they were which was a disappointment. This gave her another reason to be disgusted with her idea of flirting with the boy. In attempt to fix the situation, she mentally enhanced his abdominal and pectoral muscles to make him slightly more attractive. "Keep the shirt off," she said in a sing-songish voice. "You look way more attractive shirtless." She giggled, twirling a bit of her burnt umber locks with her finger. It was her way of showing interest, but in reality it was one of the fakest things she had ever done.

After he had asked the question, she pursed her pink lips. What was the commotion about? There was talk of someone dying from the people she slept near. But she would never believe them for a second. They had lied about so many things before. She remembered it was about seven months ago when she stopped trusting them. They told her that they were having chocolate for dessert, she didn't remember what chocolate was. Once they described it to her, she ran into the eating area, frantically looking for this said chocolate. Never would she ever make a fool of herself like that again.

Just as she was about to speak, her knight in shining armor came to save her. He truly was one of the only males in the Glade that she tolerated. His facial features were simply mesmerizing, and his words could make any man or woman fall in love. But while Nate was the womanizer of the males, she was the queen of seduction for the females. His smile immediately lightened up her mood. The runner elegantly scooted over to him, carefully sliding her hand into his. She knew he wouldn't mind, but she also knew that this would mean thing. Love was just a game for the both of them. They played with the strings on other's hearts for their personal gain.

"Lovely to see you too Nate," she cooed, her eyebrows raising as well as the smile on her lips. "Apparently someone was ripped to shreds. I think it's one of the Gladers who turned out to be a psychopath and killed him. My bet's on Aryn." Whenever the girl could, she would make jokes about the idiot Keeper of the Medjacks. No one would care either. They would just steer clear of the situation. The last thing Maeve needed was for someone to question her motives.

Her attention was brought to Kane, who seemed to be throwing a fit. Her eyebrows rose even further as she slipped away from Nate. She crossed her arms, narrowing her brown orbs. Was this guy for real? He was going to wake up everyone else who was asleep if they hadn't already been woken up by Lot's yelling. "Shucks, Kane's gone bonkers." She thought out loud, suddenly bursting out into laughter. Whenever she could, she would laugh whenever one of the Gladers. Call her cruel, but she just needed some entertainment in her boring life. It was always the same: wake up, run, sleep. Repeat.

Her eyes met Lot, who was looking at her. She crossed her arms, giving him an obvious wink before turning to Kane. Her amused expression turned into a serious one as she listened to his request. Running? Of course! She was born ready to run. Before she could respond, he began talking to Iguana. That was her nickname for one of the other runners, Iggy. She huffedm looking down at the ground before turning back to Nate and the Greenie. "His Royal Highness has requested me to accompany him to the maze." She said in a posh British accent. As she began walking towards the maze, she blew a kiss to Nate before taking off into a run.

As soon as she caught up to Kane, she let out a chuckle. "So milord, is it true that Lot wants us in the maze at night?" She inquired in a rather annoyed tone. Not towards Kane, but towards Lot for being a total fucking idiot.

After his little outburst with Alex, Iggy was getting a wide breath. Which was fine with him, he liked things better that way. It was early, he had food, he just wanted to be left alone.

There was a general murmuring of conversation, trying to figure out what Lot and the others were talking about. Meetings between the Keepers weren't unusual...but the way Lot had called that one was. Iggy didn't particularly care...at least until Kane showed up.

“Can I get all my fucking runners out here? Because apparently, Mr. Big Shot over there is trying to kill us all. We’re gonna do a vote, right here and right now.”

Iggy raised an eyebrow slowly, followed by his fork to his mouth. Lot called a lot of questionable shots, but even he could admit the guy was usually trying to keep them alive, not the other way around. That's why there rules after all.

Ah, and there came Mr. Bigshot himself, trying to keep things contained. "Kane! Shut it! Don’t get klunked man. You’ll get stuck in the lock up, so cut it out.” Silence. All the Gladers were paying attention now. Even the late risers were hanging out of their hammocks, brows drawn and eyes curious. Iggy sighed, and went back to his food.

The others were splitting up quicker than usual, breaking for their posts, and Iggy sighed when he heard Kane's voice, knowing for sure he was getting called out. He nodded simply, tossed his plate away, and easily bounced to his feet. Hands shoved in his pockets, he headed towards the little group getting ready to hit the maze.

[b]"So milord, is it true that Lot wants us in the maze at night?"

This time, Iggy felt both eyebrows raise, and he turned towards Kane. "What?" Lot wanted to send them out at night? That...didn't sound like him.

Collectibles

By creating Collectibles, you can reward your players with unique items that accentuate their character sheets.

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

Current Mobs

No mobs have been created yet.

Spawns

Locations where Mobs and Items might appear.

Events

You can schedule events for your players to create notifications and schedule times for everyone to plan around.

Permissions

Add and remove other people from your Universe.

The Forge

Use your INK to craft new artifacts in Maze Runner. Once created, Items cannot be changed, but they can be bought and sold in the marketplace.
