Description

Image

Name:
Oriana Aspiral

Age:
18

Height:
5'0

Occupation:
Benjlakki Diplomat

Appearance:
Short blue red hair and striking sky blue eyes have always made Oriana stick out more then she's comfortable with. Soft pale yet creamy skin make her seem elegant but strong shoulders, and a head held always high will make you see beyond her elegance. The diplomat unlike most does not wear serious dark clothes but often warm sweaters in earthy tones. Oriana often does her best to keep her right arm covered as it was cut off during a horrible attack on Benjlakki back when the war still raged, her arm was cut off while she attempted to save a little girl. Her arms been replaced with a mechanical arm that works and looks almost human thanks to magic and science but many people instantly tell it's metal from the nuts and bolts noticeable also the fact the joint holding it to her arm often hurts if she uses it too much. But Oriana really hates the arm... Not because it's gone but because despite loosing it the girl she tried to save was still killed.

Personality:
Oriana is hard working and loyal to her country she believes peace is the only victory and has fought over and over again in parliaments all over to ensure that Benjlakki is able to stay neutral but also that any wars be prevented or stopped. She hates no one not the Mysticaran or Metargo. Oriana is fairly friendly and kind and actually isn't super serious unless she's discussing serious matters. Mostly the young woman is just hard working and determined. Her large and forgiving heart though hurt often is still fighting. Oriana never see's herself as better always as equal this makes her easy to respect. Her positive, honest, understanding attitude makes her easily likeable by most.

Bio:
Oriana is one of the youngest diplomats of her time and is very well known. All over Benjlakki people and children know her name. While most would think it's because of something scandalous it's actually because the diplomat is the most down to earth. She's never once denied the way the way anything is. She's shown compassion and grief during times of hardship. When someones try's to buy her out she reveals them leaves no harsh word un-said. Unlike most diplomats she keeps no guards with her and goes at everything alone. But despite being a down to earth reveal everything person she has shown compassion and sensitivity, when it is needed.. She also use to be just a farmers daughter which makes many people able to see eye to eye with her.

Oriana was born to a family of farmers. In school she immediately excelled and upon graduating immediately headed toward a government oriented position so as to de-bug the system as she called it. At 16 she started out in the lowest section of government not to long after that did she loose her arm. The story of the loss of her arm gained her popularity and respect. By 17 she was out speaking to the public and was on her way to being the youngest diplomat. It was around this time that she lost her parents. Many people believed she would leave after this taking the deaths as a personal threat though few knew why. Instead Oriana continued her work but distanced herself from strong political parties that in her opinion seemed to swing in a non-neutral direction. By 18 she was indeed a diplomat, cunning witty brutally honest she was indeed de-bugging the system by pointing out those who were not neutral who'd been bought off and neglected any truth no matter the topic. Her most famous moment was when she slapped the head diplomat across the face and called him a liar... She was nearly shot for the incident but the people impressed by her very VERY direct act cheered her on.

Nationality:

Zechariah realized from the nod and half whisper that this was indeed the same Amaryllis that he met at the convention. Grinning politely, he put away his disk and said, "Pardon me for my rudeness. It is a pleasure to meet you, too."

Benjamin quizzically glanced at his brother and the princess. So, that's the gal he's been talking to with the disk? Why the sudden reactions? There's nothing to be ashamed of, is there? He decided to help his brother out by playing along. "Well, quite a pleasant surprise, eh? Want me to get all three of us some vanilla lattes? It's on me."

Zechariah knew Benjamin was trying to allow him and Amaryllis to have some alone time, so he nodded. "Sure, Ben, thanks."

Just as Benjamin went over to the coffee bar, President Anderson looked at his watch, stating, "Well, it seems it is time for Saul and I to head to the conference, so we do not end up late." He motioned for Oriana to come along before walking away.

Saul kept his smile upon. He had a vague clue as to why his daughter and Zechariah reacted the way they did, yet said nothing about it. He figured it best if he did not press the matter. He went towards the conference room after saying to amaryllis. "I better get going. I'll come to pick you up after the meeting."

Now that nobody was near the pair, Zechariah could now talk to Amaryllis without anyone else hearing them. "I'm... I'm sorry for not telling you about my being of the Malachi family. I just... was afraid you'd end up thinking of me in terms of my heritage, only. I wanted you to know the real me, not what other people say about me."

-----

"Hey, hey, hey! We were told not to show any disrespect to the Benjlakki or its important sites! This is neutral territory, you know!" Using his Sanitation Magic, Gracchus cleaned up the spot that had been spat on, twice, maybe more than that. "And we'll get that AI after we leave this country! We cannot afford to make the Benjlakki mad by violating their neutrality! Any spying, stealing, or some other stuff like that will jeopardize our chances of making an ally of those guys, thus ensuring victory against Metargo!" He rolled his eyes at his commanding officer's words of what it was about. "We already know what it's about, unless you weren't listening to your superiors. It's about Benjlakk's neutrality policies and the chance of either side of this war convincing them to get involved and side with one or the other. The more respectful we are, the better the chances of having the Benjlakki Republic on our side. Besides, this place is not all "metal-heads", there are plenty of magi here, too, and they all work to together to keep the natural environment cleaner instead of having at each other's throats. I've read a book about Benjlakk that was written by one of our tribe's scholars, I would know."

I'm beginning to wonder if joining the Natrulkra Tribal Force was a good idea, after all. You'd think your commanding officers would be more informed about other places than you? I guess stupidity is the standard for leading a group of soldiers... Poor Gracchus was so internally frustrated by his group's leader's obvious ignorance, he was unaware of one of the Benjlakki soldiers headed towards him until they collided into each other. "Sorry about that, sir. I was a bit distracted due to a little... well, a little bit of annoyance in my mind."

The soldier, Benjamin, chuckled a little as he said, "Don't worry about it! I was a little dazed, myself!"

Gracchus nodded. "Well, we better get going, maybe we'll talk, later."

Once at the conference room, all weapons and rings were confiscated by the Benjlakki troops inside. There to meet the two Mysticarans were President Howard Anderson, King Saul Metargo, and Benjlakk's diplomat, Oriana Aspiral. Gracchus merely nodded with a small grin and sat don at one of the chairs.

Once everyone was seated, President Anderson began the meeting. "Order, please... Thank you. As you all know, Benjlakk has a long history of neutrality in other nation's wars. It is what allowed the Republic to prosper, to live, and to have its citizens live without worry of being killed in any crossfire whatsoever. Time and time again, invasions by other countries have reminded we Benjlakki of the horrors of war, and the hatred it breeds. We have already fought a war, recently, and we would rather we recover fully from it. It would prove difficult to convince Congress to take either side, even if we were not recovering from a past war. As we begin our discussion of the policies we Benjlakki have, I pray we all behave with civility, without insults or threats or anything else disrespectful." He held out his hand towards Oriana to cue her in to give her point of view on the conflict. "Ladies first."

-----

Meanwhile, Benjamin waited in a long line for his chance to order the lattes. He knew by the time he would return to his brother and the princess with the beverages, their conversation would most likely be over. Let's hope no fights break up with us not on patrol, right now.

-----

Aaron decided to speak to May after a few more moments of angry silence. "Hmph! They said the so-called "Eagle of Mercy" would be in this part of town, today, yet he does not seem to be. At any rate, what's the point of trying to convince a bunch of cowards to ally with us when they hide within that shell they call "neutrality"? They're too much like rats and mice who scurry into their little holes to get away from cats."

Rear Admiral Lionel walked along one of the many walkways toward the meeting hall. She managed to slid in just before the doors closed to the conference and took a seat toward the back with the aides. She was honestly just here to listen, and she prayed she was not noticed she didn't want to take part in this though peace was on her mind she could feel the tension in the room between the two opposing nations.

It appeared she had been chosen by her superiors because they wanted her out of the way. Or maybe they felt she was expendable, what ever the reason she was told to listen and send a report on any and all developments on the meeting. She wondered why the man had not come himself but pushed the thought away as her mind began to wander. She reached into her pocket to remove her data pad and began to take notes on what was being said. She also took note of who was here, The President, Diplomats Aides and even an inventor all the faces seemed familiar though she had not met any of them before. Mostly from the news Sandra had a rather meager post with a small fleet of interception ships and was usually assigned to guard trade ships. Though she was happy to have a job that rarely saw combat even in war time.

When Oriana was given her cue she gave a small nod and stood. "Before I begin I wish to welcome and thank everyone for being here today." She bowed. "I am a representative of the people so by taking into account there wishes I will tell you what they would like but also my own personal opinions... I wish to do this so that all our peoples voices might be heard and not just our own." Oriana looked around making sure she'd been heard and understood.

When she was satisfied she began. "The people of Benjlakki feel that neutrality is the only way for us to stand but they understand that tensions have always run high and that forming strong bonds through forms of alliance and treaties would be both beneficial and wise... Though the idea of an alliance is a controversial one because most people fear being dragged into the fighting... And with scars of the last battle for our land so fresh many of our people fear an alliance would pull us into a war or battle... They would prefer a treaty one that would secure Benjlakki neutrality but also our support, and input if even there is an absolute necessity for such things..." The blue eyed girl looked about the room before continuing. "Now for my opinion... As much as I agree with the people I must state my concern over the matter... I fear that by signing any treaty or agreement Benjlakki will ultimately aid or be a part of death on either side... But I will keep my ears open to your ideas and opinions... Perhaps you might convince me otherwise..."

Oriana looked over to the president and bowed her head to say she was finished before she took her seat once more. When she thought the eyes were off of her Oriana pulled out a screw driver and once again began to tinker with her metal arm. The blasted thing was always causing her pain. She simply hoped no one would pay to close attention to her missing appendage as she was not looking for a pity party but instead actually understanding for her concerns and that of the people.. The people she had to represent today.

(My apologies but it's not letting me tag any character x_x not even my own hopefully this will be fixed soon! )

President Anderson nodded after Pygmalion's speech and said, "Protecting nature and helping it regrow is a noble cause, yes. The speech shall be taken into account when the announcement on the results of this conference is made in front of the Senate portion of Congress."

Gracchus shrugged after hearing Faust's whisper, whispering back to him with, "Wouldn't be hard for me to play nice, I am always pleasant to others when outside the battlefield."

The President continued on by saying, "Now that we have heard the Mysticaran Federation's statements, it is now the Metargo Kingdom's turn to speak."

King Saul stood up, records in hand. "Greetings to everyone gathered here, today. I am Saul Metargo, King of the nation named after my family, the Metargo Kingdom. While the royal court did not always support the policies made in parliament, we have always been dutiful to our country." He glanced toward Howard. "If I may, Mr. President, I would like to point out a simple flaw in how the Mysticaran Federation set out to begin their 'crusade to preserve the natural balance in our world', as they would put it." Inserting his datapad into a slideshow camera, he had pictures appear of a certain weapon on the Mysticaran side they used in the past. "You can see here, the weapon of mass destruction they have used against us: a type of golem ship called a 'sand worm'." The slide show continued as he spoke. "That is what they used in their aggression against us, initiating the whole war through it. As you can see, it is larger than a whale. When it began to dig, it tore through the foundations of the buildings in the city of Progrossa, along with thirteen other communities. That same destruction cause not only killed six million people and wounded others -not to mention left homeless-, but it also resulted in countless chemicals being spilt into the ground, contaminating the soil they all touched. Pardon me if I sound absurd, but for what reason would someone under the motto of 'preserving the natural balance' be hypocritical and cause damage to the environment in an act of war? Are they now under a double standard? Fortunately, we were able to destroy that weapon before it did any further damage."

When the King gathered the records and sat down, the President nodded. "The information on the magnitude of the destruction within communities and natural habitats with the 'sand worm' does shed some light on how your dispute has escalated. However, we have also seen via satellite the Metargo Kingdom's military setting fire to Mysticaran villages in retaliation."

One of the diplomats besides Oriana immediately, yet politely said, "Although, the community razing has stopped there on both sides, Mr. President. Both nations now just go after military targets."

"Point well taken, Francis." The President nodded towards both men before saying to everyone in the conference room, "Well, so far, there are valid points from both sides, yet there are set backs, as well. If anything, this could reinforce the decision to remain neutral. Is there any further discussion?" From there, the meeting was full of a bunch of statements which kept on being countered by one another.

-----

Aaron hesitantly shook the man's hand, a puzzled look on his face "Hello, there sir, but... isn't it a little odd for men of opposing nationalities to be greeting each other this way? What is your name, by any chance? You seem a little familiar."

-----

When Zechariah and Amaryllis parted lips, he smiled gently towards her, saying, "Why don't we sit down at a bench while we wait for Ben?" He found one without much worry. They were practically all over Diplomacy Square. When they were both seated, he brought out a leaf he picked from a bush, earlier, showing it to Amaryllis. "This came off of a Vitallik bush. They are fairly common in the forests of Southeastern Fertaninn. When it is used to make tea, it can speed up healing processes in patients, as well as help enhance the immune system." His smile faltered a little. "If only I was given the chance to use my knowledge of solar technology to help the medical and agricultural fields before I was drafted. It would be nice to construct things instead of destructing, for a change."

-----

Benjamin heard wings unfold. It was a faint sound that most people untrained in minding their surrundings would not hear, so nobody but him heard the sound. He jerked his head in that general direction to see a winged woman. His eyes widened as he noticed the wings. And yet, there was this innocence coming out of her. In the end, that got the better of him as he walked forward with a small grin. "Well, hello there, miss!" He could be a smooth talker, sometimes, whenever he sees a woman he deems cute. "You don't seem to be from around here, nor Metargo or Mysticara. I guess you're just here for the festivities, eh?" He held her hand and shook it gently, grinning warmly. "May I ask what your name is?"

Sandra sat and listened as the meeting began, and was immediately captivated by Orianna's speech. It was cool calm and collective and seemed to send a message to the other nations that Benjakki was in control. She took note of this as she looked at the others reactions. Something had to be done about this war. She had family enlisted with the other nations who were fighting each other. And she wasn't sure if she could even order a strike against them.

When the diplomat had finished and sat down Sandra let her gaze settle on the woman. Only then did she notice the woman's arm, or well the robotic appendage in place of an arm. Must be a war wound. She thought with sympathy for the woman. This was exactly why they needed to remain neutral to prevent this. If only someone could get it through those other numskulls heads that this what their stupid war was costing them. It wasn't a game they played from their offices it was costing others their lives while that sat back and went to parties and lived it up.

Zechariah smiled when he noticed how Amaryllis cheered up. It was quite a relief she had actually calmed down after what just happened moments before. He nodded when she mentioned counting and memorizing the veins on the leaves.

She gripped the leaf in her palm and hugged him. "Thank you smarty pants " She said to lighten the mood slightly. Sure it was childish but the real grown up thing about Amary was her face. Inside she had the innocence and sweetness of a six year old girl.

He hugged her back while saying, "You're welcome." Zechariah even pecked her on the cheek. When they let go, he decided to talk about something else, so to keep their minds off of anything troubling. "You said you read The Highwayman? I never read it, but it does sound interesting."

-----

At the conference, Saul heard a beeping sound from his communication disk. Picking it up and setting the volume on low, he played back a message from his wife, Alejandrina, which basically asked what was going on. The King chuckled to himself. Figures she'd push herself too hard. He regained his somewhat serious facial expressions In a whisper while replying with a voice message of his own, he stated, "So far, neither Metargo nor Mysticara seems to be getting anywhere. Mysticara mentioned the destruction of natural environments, I pointed out how the use of their sandworm was no different, the President mentioned the Prime Minister's retaliation attack, and it has been a diplomatic stalemate, since."

Pygmalion could tell that they were at a standstill but he had been thinking about the kings counter point. Finally he realized the ancew to this problem, the council would be happy that he got the stalemate and a trading agreement that favored them or they would look like the merciful angels whose olive branch was refused. He stood up waited his turn and entered center stage once more.

“Hello everyone I have been thinking about the counter to my previous speech and I now asking for a trade agreement that would speed the peace along. You state that we have cause chemical spill and I will agree to you on that point, as much as it hurts to admit it. The problem is that did you ever ask if we could fix it, it’s a high level skill and would take some high level elementalists but it’s doable. With that we could also help you prevent some other natural disasters that your industrialization has cause. Oil spills, giant fires, natural disasters like hurricanes, earth quakes, and tornados, all of these can be helped by us with magic at a cost that our governments can argue about later. Though radiation is your problem even with our great skills we have very little that can weaken it.”

He looked at the king and those siting around him with the smile of a merchant that has you right where he wants you. “What do you think about that your highness?” He phrased it in the politest terms and bowed but the undertone was mocking, showing how much he thought of the king.

Saul just finished sending his message to Alejandrina when Pygmalion spoke. There was some merit in it, but then again, there was one flaw with the proposal: What the Federation did was an act of war. The Mysticaran Council made it crystal clear beforehand they would "cleanse" Myrstrarkia of the "taint" through "any means necessary." The declaration was all over the press in each nation.

Saul decided to speak after considering the different scenarios. "The offer seems tempting, though I see one flaw: The Federation Council made it crystal clear ahead of time that Mysticara would use any means at hand to get rid of the industrial establishments within Metargo. That being said, I pose the question: How can we trust you to keep your end of the bargain? If you were so willing to use terrorism to achieve an objective, what is to stop you from causing even more damage and death through further terrorism in the future?" Shrugging, he added, "Regardless, I shall tell the Prime Ministr of the offer when I return home, then parliament will decide. Is that a fair enough response to what you propose?"

-----

Zechariah listened intently as she quoted from that poem. There was enthusiasm in her voice as she did so. She stated it was her favorite verse in Part One once she completed quoting it. The plot was quite a tragedy, from what he heard. Then he heard her ask what his favorite poem was.

Shrugging, Zechariah said, "I don't know. Although, I did read Hiawatha, once. It is another poem written before computers and technology. The protagonist is a tribal man named, of course, Hiawatha, and he was quite a bold one, too. I forget when, exactly, it was written, since information on that point in history has been kind of lost to time, long before the nations of today. I'll bet the geography was different, back then."

-----

Benjamin shrugged when Clarissa rejected holding his arm. He was not even going to respond to the part about many young women swooning over him. Ben heard the wings, again, along with a giggle from the young winged-woman. Keeping his grin on his face, he walked with her out the coffee shop, back onto Diplomacy Square, and back to where he left his brother and the princess. "Got the lattes, like I said, Zech!"

Zechariah glanced over Benjamin's direction with a small, closed-mouth grin as he was handed his latte. "Thanks, Ben."

Ben then gave one to Amaryllis. "And, one for you." The last vanilla latte, he picked up and sipped. "Nothing like a good cup of Joe on a busy day, don't you think, little brother?"

Zech shrugged. "As long as you don't take in too much caffeine from the coffee."

"True."

-----

Aaron noticed May's reaction and shrugged. I guess I should have seen that coming. taking another sip, he posed the query, "This is the first time you've been to Benjlakk, isn't it? The Eastern half of the country we are in, Fertaninn, is mostly farmers, agricultural workers, scientists, and solar technicians. People often come to this part of Benjlakk to get away from the fuss that comes with city life and politics. It is kind of comparable to Metargo's central region, Wildro, where you mostly see natural habitats."

Right after Saul got finished saying his piece, he received a message from Alejandrina to not say what he just got through saying. This caused him to slap himself in the forehead while silently mouthing a curse word. You blew it, Saul.

President Anderson shook his head at what was said. "I'm rather disappointed in you, Saul. This was an opportunity to end the war, and you rejected it? Very disappointing."

Nodding to the President, the King next sent this message to the Queen, "Uh... about that, darling... well... I... I blew it." Good going, Saul... Now, she's going to push herself even harder than is healthy for her. She's doing enough of that, as it is.

-----

Benjamin shrugged. "Eh, it's been all right, unless you count the number of fights that almost broke out between Mysticaran and Metargo guests, earlier. Politics just makes things like maintaining order difficult, you know?"

Zechariah shrugged. "Yeah, patrol was a pain." He turned his gaze towards Amary. "Hopefully, you weren't given a hard time by anyone, today."

Sandra sat perched in her chair listening to the proposals. She knew there were tensions in this room but the spew of comments coming from the Admiral were shocking. Sandra cleared her throat a bit. "I-If I may interrupt perhaps you should Iron that out in your agreement... Make a written promise that Mysticara will not attempt to harm or undermine Metargo's industry." She said aloud making eye contact with the others she was addressing.

She knew she was only suppose to listen but it was starting to annoy her that these fools could not get past their childish grudges. She also knew it was not her place to speak but she just hoped they would not toss her out the door. She straightened her uniform and sat back down as she waited to see if some sort of agreement would actually be met.

Saul received the message from Alejandrina with the advise. The Benjlakki admiral's interruption gave the perfect distraction for him to listen and think over how to present himself and make it look convincing. This had better work.

The President nodded towards Sandra. "Point well taken, Admiral Lionel." From there, murmurs from the other Benjlakki officials and military officers began to fill the room. Most were just as annoyed with the current climate as Sandra was. Some even went so far as to consider her one of the only people who spoke with common sense.

All Gracchus could do was keep silent and soak in the words each individual said. Elven ears could pick up many sounds and distinguish from them, which was a plus. And yet, it was a minus, at the same time. Was it wise to join the Natrulkra Tribal Force, after all? Sounds like both sides in this conflict are messed up.

At last, Saul spoke up. "The point I am making with mention of the attack on our cities is that both our nations should fix our own problems. The only way this can happen is if we set aside all the aggression and threats, all our pride, all the threats, and focusing on amending our mistakes. We humbly wish for peace in this way. There are those within parliament who are just now making a dent in the usual policy making, a movement initiating. It is subtle enough to avoid the notice of most foreigners. That being said, the damage we have done to the environment will be repaired, with time. All that I ask, on behalf of Benjlakk, is for the Mysticaran Federation to respectfully withdraw their weapons and troops so that war will no longer be an issue or priority."

Saul sat down after saying his piece. Thankfully, the Mysticarans were speaking amongst themselves, apparently puzzled. That was a good sign, since it ultimately meant they were convinced by his tone that he was the one that thought of the proposal, to begin with. Hopefully, that will be enough.

Gracchus was now sighing a breath of relief, due to the fact the Mysticaran officials were now at a loss as to what to say next and considering agreeing to the terms set out by King Saul. All the young elf could think of was his satisfaction at the possibility of all the fighting to stop. For the first time since listening to his commanding officer's rants, he felt no regrets.

At last, one of the Mysticaran officials spoke up with, "We shall think on this."

President Anderson nodded. "Well, then, that concludes our meeting, today."

As everyone else left, Howard whispered to Oriana. "It would seem we are not going to be involved in a war, after all. Thank goodness for that."

Oriana had sat quietly the entire time. She listened as each person spoke and many times resisted the urge to yell at someone when they made a point she did not approve of. She waited patiently until things calmed down. This was normal in politics. Yelling arguments ideas... But suddenly Saul brought things in a different direction. Oriana raised a blue eye brow her bright eyes blinking as she listened. Something did not seem right about the whole thing...

When Howard whispered in her ear she nodded silently and stood. Everyone was standing up and packing up. Or wandering around trying to make powerful connections with whomever they could. She brushed herself off quietly and headed toward the door but pumped into a Mysticarian before she reached it. "Oh sorry... I'm always a tad dazzed after these things... They go by either too fast or too slow..." Oriana turned to face the Mysticarian noting his features and remembering his face. Gently she held out her robotic hand to him and smiled. "Sense I bumped into you guess I should introduce myself... Name's Oriana Aspiral..." If Oriana had known this Mysticarian was Graccus the golem rider escorting his commander she probably would not have been so calm... After all she had been told everyone's name and told that anyone escorting a general or commander was to be treated with utmost perfect respect. Though this was not the calm blue haired girls style.

Aaron took another sip as he glanced downward. "Yeah, well, I've only been here before because of our country's invasion of Benjlakk, four years ago. They repelled it within that same year." He shrugged. "But, I'm guessing going on and on about recent history would just bore you, like it would others, including me." Looking over at May, again, he decided to ask a few more questions about her. He did not know why. Perhaps, it was just to fill in the time they had before heading back to escort Saul and Amaryllis. "I wonder what motivated you to join the military? I mean... people have all sorts of reasons, good or ill."

----

Benjamin noticed how silent the winged woman was and raised an eyebrow. "You all right, Clarissa?"

He then heard footsteps from behind, silent, as if sneaking up. This alarmed and angered him, causing him to instantly pull out his pistol from his holster, point it behind him, and shout, "Freeze!"

He took note that it was a woman in revealing clothes, holding a staff. A Mysticaran. Walking slowly towards the suspect, he questioned her. "Were you sent here for some sort of assassination? If so, then your country is violating our neutrality! Identify yourself, and don't bother trying to pull anything!"

Zechariah jerked his head in Benjamin's direction the moment he heard him shout at someone. The sight of what was going on made him roll his eyes. His brother always was rather zealous when it came to the family's military lineage. "Ben, will you calm down, already?"

Benjamin did not bother moving his eyes anywhere, just focused them on the skimpy-looking woman. "Do you realize how critical securing our neutrality is, Zech? Give any warring nation an inch, and they'll be trampling all over us!"

"You're overreacting, Benjamin Amos Malachi! Put that pistol back in your holster, and that's an order!"

The older Malachi brother snarled at Zechariah. As much as Ben hated his full name being used to get his attention, he realized an order from a military officer at a higher rank than him had to be obeyed. To get back at him, though, as he put away his weapon, he answered with, "Of course, Zechariah Samuel Malachi. You always were the black sheep of the family, little brother."

Zechariah snapped with, "Out of the question!" He felt guilty, immediately, knowing that must have frightened Amaryllis, so he said to her, "Sorry about that. It's a brotherly thing, you know?" Zechariah then hugged Amary to calm her down.

-----

The poor elf was suddenly bumped into when he was about to go through the door. The woman apologized, to which he responded to, "Don't worry about it! I wasn't paying much attention, either!" She introduced herself as Oriana Aspirial. Shaking her mechanical hand, he grinned warmly. "Ah, yeah! The gal representin' Benjlakk! Nice to meet ya, too! I'm Gracchus! Gracchus Ossi!" He snapped his fingers right then, making ingredients for a specific coffee beverage appear, right then. Using his magic to help speed the process along, he made a mocha in little time, handing the glass of it to the woman. "Mocha?"

Oriana blinked and went wide eyed watching Gracchus use his magic. "Why... Uhh..." She could not help but smile warmly. "Thank you..." She took the Mocha gently and smelled it. "If the president new I was doing this he'd have my blue head on a silver platter..." Oriana shook her head and sipped the drink. "See I was suppose to treat you and everyone else like royalty... And of course my clumsiness makes me ram into one of the guards for our super important guests." She blushed awkwardly. "And for the record..." Oriana's eyes became proud and defiant and sparkled with enthusiasm. "I am not representing Benjlakki... I am representing it's people... There is a difference."

She smirked. "If I was representing just Benjlakki have the diplomats opinions on my mind but I could care less what they think... I just wanna make sure the people are ok... After all there the ones who asked me to come here... If they hadn't I'd probably be in jail after slapping some narcissistic idiot across the face!" Realizing she was talking out loud Oriana blushed and stuttered. "Sorry! I... I don't talk to people often... I listen more then I talk... Guess I got a tad carried away..." She smiled softly and calmed down. "Now may I offer you something in return for the Mocha... It was so kind of you'd I'd feel bad if I didn't at least show you around."

Gracchus shrugged at what Orianna said about representing Benjlakk's people. "Yeah, I sometimes get that confused." When she apologized, he laughed a little. "Don't worry about it!" At the very mention of being showed around, he grinned warmly. Ever since hearing about the strange things people use without a ton of magic, he has been the curious type. And the diplomat who represents the people of Benjlakk offering to show him all that? He could hardly believe it. What were the odds of that?

"Sure! I got time!"

Oriana smiled. "Then please follow me." She led Gracchus out of the conference room and walked about. "So what are you interested in seeing exactly?" She blinked her blue eyes curiously. "I can show the city if you want or are you one of those people more interested in food or something?" She smiled and walked backward while she adjusted her metal arm to a more comfortable angel.

Saul came by moments after the Head councilor got finished with speaking his mind and saw Amaryllis with Zechariah. He subtly grinned, knowing what could be going on. "Sorry I took so long. I was trying to get a hold of Sergeant Lextu so he could come find us and we could head back to our shuttle."

----

Aaron shrugged. "Sometimes. Swimming, card games, and other things." A beeping sound was heard on his communication disk, the beeping signaling that the meeting was over. Placing his glass on the bar, he said to May, "That's our cue to meet up with the King and his daughter so we can get out of here. Come on."

----

Benjamin looked around to try to find Clarissa, yet she was nowhere in sight. Where could she have gone? Back to her home? He was a little disappointed, but he knew he could not just try to find her. It would be kind of rude. Instead, he just stood where he was until he noticed a familiar face.

Walking up to her, he saluted and said, "Admiral Lionel, it's been a while."

----

Gracchus shrugged. "The city sounds good. I've been rather curious about other places, anyway, which is actually why I joined the Natrulkra Tribal Force, to begin with. Foods, monuments, the different things people use. Everything about this place is new to me." He laughed a little. "That's what happens when you live in a magic-dominated society, everything about another society seems exotic and exciting." He followed Oriana the whole time.

----

Zechariah heard a message on his communication disk from one of his subordinates which said, "Zechariah, we are receiving a couple distress calls. I'd like you to come to room A39 to take a look at them once I decode them completely. I'll let you know when that happens."

Once he heard the message, he said to Amary, "I better go. I'll keep in touch with you via communication disk, okay?" He offered a small smile before walking on over to the hotel.

It was not anything fancy, which was a plus for him, since it meant less attention from policy makers who would prefer something more extravagant. Walking over to the buffet, he picked up a veggie burger along with a fruit salad, vanilla almond milk, and a fruit smoothie. Once he was seated at a table and was eating, he thought on how the conference could have gone. Hopefully, he would not be involved in another war.

Oriana smiled. "I could say the same about your culture... I've always been curious about the Mysticarians but because of my busy schedule I have never managed to find out much..." Oriana led Gracchus down to the main plaza and then into the city. She made sure to point out there architecture and lead him down the road at an easy pace trying to think of what he might like to see. Finally a thought occurred to her as they passed by her favorite bakery / candy shop.

Oriana grabbed Gracchus hand and led him inside immediately grinning as the smell of warm bread and pastries and candy assaulted there noses. Oriana grinned. "Ok so I don't know what you guy's eat or how you make them but this is my favorite bakery and candy shop mainly becauseee." Oriana pointed to answer her own sentence. Behind the glass counter the chefs were hard at work. Some were pulling bread out of the oven while others were using mixers to help mix the especially tough to stir ingredients. There were also other people using there hands to stretch out the sticky taffy. Oriana smiled. "The people here use machines only for really difficult things then they use there hands for things that well are just better that way like making taffy stretching it manually always yields better taffy in my opinion."

Finally the head chef spotted Oriana. He let out a laugh and moved from behind the counter to grab her into a long and hard hug. Oriana yelped but allowed herself to be squeezed by the older rounder man. When she was finally released she gasped and laughed. "Pablo I'm giving Gracchus here a tour of the city where better place to start but here?" The chef laughed and much to Oriana's dismay grabbed Gracchus into a bone crushing hug next before yelling out hello and pointing him out to everyone else who began to talk excitedly and shoot Oriana questions like how they had no idea she had a thing for wild boys. Oriana shook her head lightly laughing knowing they were teasing as they often did. "So Gracchus what would you like to try I'm buying!"

Gracchus soaked in all the details of what he saw of the city. Everything seemed fascinating to him. You would think he was in a candy store by the look in his eyes as he examined the architecture. His eyes were averted to the bakery once Oriana grabbed his hand. The aromas inside tickled his nose, a pleasant tickle, for sure. The smile on the woman's face made him grin back.

"The people here use machines only for really difficult things then they use there hands for things that well are just better that way like making taffy stretching it manually always yields better taffy in my opinion."

Gracchus tilted his head. "Machines? What are... machines?" Before he could get an answer, he was introduced to Pablo, the head chef, who grabbed him into a hug which half-suffocated him. When pointed out, everyone else talked excitedly and teased Oriana. Being an elf, his ears picked up every word. He raised an eyebrow at the being called "wild". His eyes once again focused on Oriana when he heard her ask what he wanted to try, stating she'd buy.

He took a moment to look at the breads. Everything seemed appetizing to him, though he did focus on a particular one, shaped like a hoop and filled with berries. "What's that hoop-shaped bread, there?"

Pablo chuckled. "It's a bagel. Want one?"

"Sure."

"Here, have some cream cheese with that."

The elf made sure Oriana paid for the bagel before taking a bite. It was warm, sweet, and overall delightful. "Whoa! This is amazing! Who would have thought to put berries in the bread, back home?" Looking at the young, blue-haired woman, whom he found pretty, he asked, "What did they mean by 'wild boys'?"

-----

Saul's smile faltered a little when Amaryllis asked about the meeting. "It could have gone better. At least, there could be a stop to the fighting, soon. I just hope the Mysticarans actually agree to end their attacks so to let us amend our mistakes with the industry and its excessive pollution. It will take time, but I still hope it happens."

Suddenly, the President's communication device beeped, and a message from a member of Brown Wing Team, which went, "Mr. President, we are receiving two coded distress calls from civilians at the abandoned buildings along Eagle Road. The men who captured them are supposedly in uniform, but the two calls differ on what those uniforms look like. I've called Sargeant Zechariah Malachi over to take a look at the messages once I decode them completely. After that, he'll be calling the shots on what to do."

"Thank you for letting me, know, Private Johnson." President Howard hung up then glanced over to both Saul and Pygmalion. Pardon me for asking this, but do either of you know anyone who has not been seen in a while?"

Saul shrugged, then answered, "I'd have to look a the numerous reports I have been given to know for sure. Why?"

"I have a feeling something's up, involving both your nations. Two distress calls are being decoded, each describing different people who have taken them hostage."

Saul's eyes widened. "I hope that is not the case."

"We'll find out."

Several moments later, Aaron, along with May, arrived, Aaron saluting and stating, "We're back to escort you, your majesty." He glanced over to Amaryllis and nodded. "Highness." Looking over to the two Mysticarans, he arched an eyebrow. The tall one seemed to be some sort of Golem maker. The woman, probably a chieftain, by the staff. "Did we interrupt something?"

Oriana laughed happy to see Gracchus enjoying the bagel. She bought herself a sweet beignet paid for the bagel. At Gracchus question Oriana smiled and led the boy back outside so they could sit on the bench in front of the shop. "Well... Mysticarians are a mystery to most people around here... Because of the little they know about you guys they assume you guys are really wild and back to nature..." Oriana shook her head with a smile. "I've met enough Mysticarians to know that aside certain things... Were not really different at all..." She smiled at the elf. "Ok... well the ears are also different but to be honest..." Oriana looked at Gracchus's ears. "I like them... There different and refreshing."

She took a bite of beignet and hummed to herself. "oh... Earlier you asked what a machine was?" Oriana's eyes widened. Did he really have no idea... But he did not seem like he did. "Well.. There metal things and when electricity or magic runs through them they start to work and do stuff... The mixing things in the bakery are machines they mix everything together so it tastes better." Oriana smiled. "Few machines use magic but some do." Oriana was being very honest and made sure to tell Gracchus everything she knew... She saw no reason to lie or hold back any information... Gracchus seemed trust worthy and Oriana so far liked him.

"Oh, that." Benjamin placed a hand around the back of his neck. "I thought a Mysticaran named Ebele was about to attempt an assassination, with how quietly she was walking towards Zechariah, Amaryllis, another young woman, and I. So, I instinctively pulled out my pistol and questioned her. Zechariah got onto me about overreacting and told me to put the pistol away. Ebele apologized for startling me, but that was when Pygmalion Faust falsely accused me of drawing out a weapon just because Ebele had one. I made clear that she was approaching from behind like an assassin, but he didn't listen, not even to her. He even questioned our neutrality policies, saying 'supposedly neutral', or something like that."

He rolled his eyes. "I don't get it. Why would Zech talking to Amaryllis make us all of a sudden not neutral? If he knew how neutrality worked and how it is defended, I doubt he'd be saying those things. I even heard the Head Councilor chew Pygmalion out for disrespecting Diplomacy Square and us by spitting in the middle of the place while talking about Benjlakk as if we were enemies, at all. I swear, these war lovers think too much in terms of 'us versus them'."

Benjamin shrugged then asked, "What about you? Anything happen since the Battle of Southeastern Feratininn, besides the rest of the fighting during our previous war with Metargo?"

Benjamin could not be more grateful towards Sandra for helping Brown Wing Team out during that battle. Not only did her fleet make it possible to break the stalemate in that war, it also paved the way for his brother, Zechariah, to take on Aaron Lextu so to keep the anti-air turrets from being destroyed. Zechariah, on the other hand, would agree with Sandra in terms of avoiding fighting, if possible.

-----

Gracchus blushed a little. "Thanks. We elves all have pointy ears like these. Although, we are also a minority in Mysticara. Like Most other places I've seen, humans are the majority in the Federation."

He listened intently on what she said about machines and how they run. From electricity, to solar power, and even the different machines they saw in the bakery, he found it all exciting. "Cool!" Taking another bite of the bagel, he asked, "Say, pardon me if I have touched on something sensitive, but about the arm, was that during the Metargo invasion of Fertaninn I keep hearing about from the locals?"

Oriana looked down at her arm. She moved it a little. "Yeah it is... I was visiting my family and at the time was barely into politics really... The attack happened and next thing you know I was trying to save a girl then... I woke up with a missing arm..." She moved the metal one. "It's not much of a replacement but it move's and keeps my center of gravity the way it was before..." Oriana smiled. It still hurt remembering the loss of her arm... Well more like the fact she'd lost it for nothing as the girl died anyway. Oriana decided not to dwell. "Wanna see something cool about the arm though..." She smirked and grabbed the arm finding the joint and turning it until it came off. She then handed the metal robotic arm to Gracchus and wiggled her little stump while giggling. She was happy today despite everything... It was nice.

Benjamin nodded towards May, then said, "You best hope Aaron does not pull that stunt in this country again, because next time, I won't just be pointing my pistol." He then walked past everyone, his shoulder shoving Pygmalion out of the way, showing how he really felt about him.

President Anderson placed a hand on Faust's shoulder and said, "It's best to let him calm down. When he's that agitated, few people can stop him. Among them, his brother, Zechariah, which is why Benjamin is still corporal while Zechariah is sergeant."

Saul nodded prior to saying to Amaryllis, "In light of the fact armed combat almost occurred in Diplomacy Square, it may be best that we, along with Aaron and May, find your mother and brother then head back to our shuttle."

----

Gracchus listened to what Oriana said about the arm. It was rather interesting, and shed some light on the nature of Metargo's previous war with Benjlakk. Of course, seeing her wiggle her stump and giggle made him reveal a closed-mouth grin. Not only was she beautiful, but also smart and fun to be around. He was about to say something to her when he heard angry footsteps. There was only one person he knew who would walk angrily like that. Jerking his head to the side, he spotted her. What's the chieftain doing way out here?

He waved and cheerfully shouted, "Chieftain Spirit! Who'd have thought you'd come way out here to this part of town? Come sit with us! Oriana won't bite!"

----

Zechariah finished his meal, then heard the message that the distress calls have been decoded, his cue to head to the room mentioned earlier. He was now alone in the hall, his mind in multiple places. Suddenly, he heard someone behind him and looked to see a chubby man with grease all over. Raising an eyebrow, the young soldier asked, "Yes, sir? Can I help you with something?"

Oriana was happy that she'd made Gracchus smile. It also felt nice to have the metal arm off it allowed fresh air to touch the stump of her missing arm and felt cool and oddly refreshing on the shortened appendage. Oriana was enjoying Gracchus's company. More then she enjoyed most peoples. The diplomat was well liked yes that was true. But aside that she often seemed a cold scary person except to kids certain close friends and oddly enough... Gracchus. There was something about the happy handsome elf that made her want to blush but mostly smile.

When footsteps approached Oriana quickly wolfed down the rest of her pastry and smiled welcomingly at the new comer. "Hello there, yes do join us the benches can accommodate four really so I see no reason why not." Oriana happily made room for the chieftain on the bench. She of course would choose her actions carefully around the chieftain, at least until she figured out what they were like.

Ebele marched down the street, with an angry skip in her step turned her head when she heard some calling her name. Hm. It's that elf... Ebele looked at the other girl and sighed. Why do I feel so angry? This needs to stop. Maybe visiting with them will lighten my mood. Ebele walked over and smiled at them, without her handy staff that she usually has with her. The only thing that Ebele slipped out of her mouth was, "Hello." She said with a simple, half smile.
