Calida Metargo

"Would you like some tea? I've heard that I make wonderful tea!"

a character in “Mechas, Golems, and Nations”, originally authored by ISpeakTheTruth, as played by Zarhara

Description

Image

Name:
Calida Metargo

Gender:
Female

Age:
44 (Forty-four)

Height:
5'8"

Occupation:
Queen of Metargo

Appearance:
Calida is fairly young looking for the age of forty-four. She has long, very light blonde hair and gentle blue eyes. Calida is also quite pale, but still does have a small bit of colour in her skin. She has a friendly and welcoming smile no matter the circumstance and always looks as if she's in a cheery mood.
Calida is rather petite looking, but her appearance is very decieving. She can be intimidating when she wants to be and can win a fight if she must. One thing that is known about her is that no one should ever hurt or go near her two children.

Image

Personality:
The woman would offer her enemies tea and invite them to stay for dinner before she would order for them to be killed. That one fact about her basically sums the queen up.
She is friendly to all, even those she dislikes, and manages to maintane a perfectly happy attitude even when her kingdom is at war.
Being a bit of an over-protective mother, she absolutely adores her son Leo (or Prince Leonardo, as most call him) and would be overwhelmed with grief if anything bad happened to him.
Her daughter of course has a huge spot in her heart as well, and Calida likes to keep up with what her perfect, open minded, somewhat snobby little angel is doing.
The feelings are the same for her husband Saul, but Calida mostly worries for him and wonders how the war is effecting him.
Other than adoring her small family, being a bright and bubbly optomistic queen, and a tad bit of a chatterbox, Calida can be cold as stone when she needs to be.
The serious side of her won't hesitate to rip someone's throat out and feed it to the wolves, of course she wouldn't be so brutal as to do such a thing, but she occasionally does try to get people to do it for her.

Bio:
Not being born into royalty, although being in the upper class, Calida's family didn't expect her to marry the prince of Metargo. This little problem, however, didn't get in the way of the young child's dreams and hopes to one day be queen.
Her parents marked her idea's as crazy, if not impossible, but Calida was determined to prove herself as the perfect match for the prince, even if she was considered a bit on the odd side.

As a young girl, despite searching for the good in every living soul, made death threats to whomever she saw doing wrong. Second chances were acceptable only sometimes and only when the girl saw it necessary, she was well known to not be very forgiving once someone mistreated her.

The friends she managed to make seemed to overlook her faults, and they supported her dreams of marrying Saul, they even were so helpful to arrange the wedding when it finally happened.
Calida and Saul's marriage had taken not only her family, but nearly everyone by surprise, including Calida herself. She was an odd choice for the future king's wife and an even odder one to be the queen, but it was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she was glad that her dreams had finally come true.
Doubts from the people occurred, of course, but Calida quickly proved herself to be a fine partner for the king.

In the years that followed after the marriage, Leonardo and Azalea were born and Calida saw her two children as the greatest gifts she had ever been given. Loving them to death, Calida gave herself a new goal to be the best mother she could possibly be, and as the prince and princess grew Calida was confident that she and Saul did a fantastic job raising them.

Nationality:
Metargo

Fertaninn, Benjlakk's eastern region, contains wildlife and plant life relatively untouched by civilization, making this place a haven and paradise for people looking for an escape from most of the fuss that comes with politics. Many farmers, agricultural workers, biologists, and solar technicians call Fertaninn home. This is where Benjlakk's capital, the District of Justicra, is located. Here, the story begins.

Zechariah just put on his khaki, ceremonial military uniform for this day. It was the day of the conference to determine whether Benjlakk were to be involved in the war between Metargo and Mysticara. At the moment, Benjlakk was neutral, and the young sergeant doubted that would change. He then remembered the communication disk on his desk, which he picked up and began recording a voice message on it:

My dear Azalea,

Today is a big day for Benjlakk. Diplomacy Square is going to be packed with guests from around the world, as well as people from all over Benjlakk. While the festivities go on, a conference is going to be held on whom Benjlakk will side with, if at all. All the while, I am going to be out on patrol and stuff like that with the rest of my platoon of mech pilots. I hope the war is not out of hand where you live, knowing what has went on, so far.

Were it possible, right now, I would have loved to have brought you here, to Fertaninn, the most peaceful region in Benjlakk. There are plains and forests here which are relatively unspoiled by civilization. It is peaceful, an ideal place to live in if you want to avoid the fuss of politics and stuff of that nature. Well, it is close to time to patrol Diplomacy Square, so I should get going, now.

Yours forever and always,
Zechariah

Just then, as Zechariah sent the message, his older borther, Benjamin, whom was wearing a green uniform, knocked on the door and asked, "Hey, Zech! Who you calling?"

The Eagle of Mercy grinned and rolled his eyes. "Oh, it was someone I met at the Solar Tech Convention in Southeastern Fertaninn."

"Well, let's get going. The Diplomacy Square Festival is about to start, and we need to be there to keep any fights from happening!"

Zech laughed. "I know."

With that, he prepared his two laser pistols, setting them to stun before placing them in his holsters. The two brothers met up with the rest of the Brown Wing Team. Zechariah said to them, "Okay, As you all know, this is an event which will contain tons of people from many different places. Be on the lookout for anyone who winds up hostile towards each other and either escort them out or arrest them if the hostilities turn into a fight. That could happen, anywhere, anytime, especially with the war outside our borders. You all know what to do. Move out."

With members of the Brown Wing Team at other locations, the brothers chose to patrol a quieter spot of Diplomacy Square. So far, no fight broke out, yet they could never be too cautious. several moments passed before a familiar face, and an angry one, at that, appeared right at the area's entrance to diplomacy Square. It was Aaron Lextu, the Metargo soldier whom Zechariah fought during the previous war that occurred a couple years back. With Aaron were May and Kyle, Kyle behaving in a somewhat jolly mood due to the possibility of being able to party some.

Kyle spoke, first. "Hey, Aaron! Look at that! The Malachi Brothers! Kind of cool to see 'em in person, eh, buddy?"

Aaron gritted his teeth. "Hush, Private Scipio! We're here to escort the Princess, not for the party!" The leader of the Lion Team glanced back at Zechariah and posed the query, "I guess you're gonna gloat, now, over the several times you beat me?"

Aaron's words set Zechariah's teeth grinding. How dare that man treat war or combat like it was some game! "There's nothing to discuss with you, Aaron, so don't pretend there is!"

Aaron merely crossed his arms across his chest with, "Fine by me!"

Kyle laughed a little. "Looks like you've been told off, sergeant!"

"Whatever..." Aaron looked around and finally spotted the Princess coming their way to the entrance. "Good morning, your highness. It looks like you get to meet the famous Malachi Brothers early. One of them is Benjamin Malachi and the other is the so-called 'Eagle of Mercy', Zechariah Malachi."

It was when Aaron stepped to the side that Zechariah noticed the woman Aaron spoke to. Just the sight of her changed Zechariah's mood from angry to shocked, which showed in his eyes and facial expressions. He quite literally froze where he was. "Aza?"

Benjamin gave a confused look, "Zech, what's wrong? Is it really that big of a surprise she'd be here? Did you see her in person, before, or something?"

-----

Elsewhere, Saul, Calida, and Leonardo were making their way to the conference building where the diplomatic matters were to take place. Saul held Calida's hand while he mentioned some things required to know beforehand. "Now, Leo, we must be on our best behavior in front of the President of Benjlakk. Even one sign of disrespect towards anyone in the room could be used against us. In order to gain the Benjlakki people's approval, we cannot do anything they will frown upon. We are already in quite a pickle with how many towns and villages you burned to the ground, so far. We need to break the stalemate, and cannot afford to mess this up."

-----

Over at the refreshment section of Diplomacy Square, Gracchus and the rest of the Air and Ground Party from the Natrulkra Tribal Force were enjoying some coffee and/or wine. Gracchus personally enjoyed the friendly vibe of the place the most. The different cultures and people mixed into one intrigued him, as he was always curious. Granted, he knew he could not stay at that spot of Diplomacy Square for too long, so he told Isaac and Elisabeth. "I better head over to the conference building to be at the Chieftain's side, so no funny business while I'm gone, especially you, Isaac. Don't. Kill. Anyone. This isn't like Mysticara, where you could challenge somebody to a duel, you quite literally cannot kill a living person here in Benjlakk. If you do that, we'll have the Benjlakki Republic as an enemy before the conference even begins. That being said, don't bother hurting anyone while we're here."

The elf leader of the Air and Ground Party said what he had to and walked on over to the Chieftain, Malinha Nedilo, and escorted her. He was one of few people who knew of her spy network. "I don't know what you hope to achieve by having spies in Benjlakk, but you best hope they don't find out there are any in their country, as that will be construed as a violation of their neutrality."

Along the way, Gracchus noticed one of the Benjlakki Diplomats, Oriana Aspiral, heading the same direction. Wow! She's beautiful! He could not help but smile at the blue-haired woman, yet did not glance in her direction long, since staring was rude. He quickly recovered and had his eyes forward, again.

Leo. For a moment, Leonardo believed it was his mother, Calida, speaking, but it seems he had assumed wrong. Leo? Why had his father used that name? Never before had he ever called him by such, only his mother and sister did as terms of endearment. He had never fancied himself close to his father, in fact, Leonardo could not remember one time in which they sat together and spoke that didn't concern politics, the nation, or war. Perhaps it was to put him in his place? To remind him of who would be leading the talks. For that, Leonardo was not sure why he wished to do that. This entire... charade was a waste of time as it were, and the only reason, besides being commanded, Leonardo had come was to see his Mysticaran opponents. Lately they had begun to almost predict their troop movements, particularly Leonardo's own. Either it was something magical like clairvoyance, but he highly doubted it, or more realistically espionage, but on such a large scale was incredibly impressive. In the war, Leonardo felt it was the only thing that had given him pause. Perhaps here, he would gain insight on their shadow network.

"Aren't I always?" Leonardo said, his voice naturally soft. Perhaps his father was saying it to make himself feel better, feel more in his element. Either way, this was a waste of time, and more so, why did his father insist on bringing the entire royal family? Leonardo was sure there was no point in bringing him along. His reputation was far more intimidating then the person. The Red Prince was famed for his strength and brutality, while the person was merely a tall slender man that looked more akin to a woman than a man. The ruby silk robes he wore did not help that matter, nor did his long sweeping silver hair, so why bring him along? His presence would only hurt what good will they had with the Mysticarans. His father may distaste his tactics, but they were incredibly effective. Since Leonardo's entrance into the war; they had finally begun to gain ground. His father would understand that if he would grow outside his primitive and foolish views on war. They had gotten him nowhere, and so were obviously flawed.

His sister was another person who should not be here. Avalea had no reason to be here. She was far to blunt and opinionated for an atmosphere as tense as his father liked to stress, not only that, but placing her here only placed her in harm's way. The Princess would be a useful bargaining chip should another nation have the courage to act upon it.

Leonardo brought his hand to his chin and rubbed it in thought as he kept pace behind his parents. Why did they come? That thought had plagued him for some time. What did pleasing another nations people have to do with anything? They were too caught up in hiding their heads beneath the sand to move against anyone unless, no, Leonardo highly doubted his father had the cunning or initiative to move against them. While his father was a brave man, Leonardo never considered him to be an ambitious man. Not to mention fighting two wars on two fronts would tie down their efforts and only end in a stalemate. Yes, Leonardo was sure his father did not have the stomach for such a thing, but yet here they were. Odd.

Calida, as much as she tried to remain focused, had difficulty with not admiring the beauty of Benjlakk. Everywhere she looked there was something new to gawk at, it was if the entire nation knew she had been coming and made everything as eye catching as possible.
Yes, it was true that most of what she had seen had been farming lands and not much city, but the more populated places she had seen already were fabulous.
And no, Calida didn't think that Benjlakk was better than her beloved Metargo, but she would honestly admit that the land itself had its own way of grace.

The queen was glad that she and her husband were holding hands, if they weren't then she was positive she'd get carried away with all the sights and fall behind. Metargo's queen getting herself lost would surely make a bad impression on the people of Benjlakk.

Saul began speaking to their son Leo, and Calida nodded in support as he reminded the prince to be on best behaviour. Truthfully, the fact that they were reminding him to be good and respectful brought back memories from when Calida herself and been teaching him those manners.
Mother was right when she said that children grow up far too fast... She thought, glancing at her son, Much, much too fast.

"Aren't I always? Leonardo asked, and for the second time Calida nodded.
"Absolutely, Leo! Any child of mine is obvious to have wonderful manners! Your father just wants things to go as smoothly as possible. We're counting on Benjlakk to help us." She explained, flashing a positive attitude smile.
She was certain that Metargo could win the war with or without Benjlakk's help, and the queen was confident in her husband to be the one who lead their nation to victory, but Calida had already made up her mind. A few extra players on their team would be greatly appreciated.

Zechariah watched for a another moment or so, with Aaron cocking his head in a combination of confusion and annoyance. Kyle, in the meantime, already begun to have silent fantasies about what Zech and Aza might do in bed with each other if they chose to. Benjamin gave a stern look which demanded an explanation from his little brother.

Eventually, Zech noticed his older brother's glare and sighed as he glanced downwards. "Yes, we have met, before. It was at a solar tech convention in southeastern Fertaninn." He glanced upwards at his brother. "I did not even tell her I was a member of the Malachi family, or that I was the 'Eagle of Mercy'. I did not want her to focus on that. I wanted her to focus on the real me, which is not some legend or anything like that. I'm not just a skilled soldier with a reputation." Glaring at Aaron, he added, "And there is definitely more to me than just my achievements on the battlefield, or anything else the press focuses on. I don't even consider what I'll I did during the Metargo invasion upon Benjlakk, two years ago, to be anything honorable. I'm not someone who enjoys anything about combat." Zechariah glanced downwards, once more. "I'm just... Zechariah. I don't want to be treated like some legend or anything of the sort."

Benjamin sighed in a combination of pity and other feelings. "I know what you mean, Zech. It really stinks when people think what you are known for is all you are." The older Malachi brother next noticed Catrina behind her. He had this brother mentality towards her, considering the redhead like a little sister. "Hey, Catrina, you all right?"

Kyle finally got out of his fantasy world to register what he did hear from Zecahriah, specifically the last part. Kyle then nodded and said, "That's deep, man."

Aaron huffed in anger. To him, it did not change the fact his own reputation went down the drain. On the other hand, if what Zech said was true, then what happened was not to humiliate him, after all. Aaron became confused internally, yet never showed it on the outside. They only saw his cold exterior.

------

Saul did not say a word after his wife gave their son an explanation. He realized he has not been much of a father. Calling him 'Leo' was his way of trying to make it up to him with whatever time there was. Yet, he was unsure of how to begin. Calida was always better with the social matters.

------

Gracchus saw Oriana glaring daggers at an older man and was going to help her when Malinha already did that. Either way, he was glad a fight was avoided. "Oriana, huh? That's a nice name. I'm Gracchus, and this woman here is the Chieftain of Natrulkra, Malinha Nedilo." He used his magic to bring out ingredients and quickly make a mocha for the blue-haired diplomat. "Here, have a mocha."

"Absolutely, Leo! Any child of mine is obvious to have wonderful manners! Your father just wants things to go as smoothly as possible. We're counting on Benjlakk to help us." Leonardo nodded to show he was listening, yet, why? Why did they require Benjlakk aid? Were they not winning? He had assumed they had come to ensure the Benjlakk stayed out of the war, but couldn't diplomats have achieved the same end? Besides that, Leonardo doubted the nation of Benjlakk would do anything as they were quite content with keeping their head under the sand as long as no one stepped on their vaunted neutrality sign they insisted on waving around.

Leonardo slipped his hands into the opposing robes cuffs as he toke the time to examine his surroundings. A small group of people caught his attention with a strange blue haired woman, which was incredible odd in itself, an older man and a group of Mysticarans were standing and talking. At first he didn't know they were Mysticaran, but when one waved his hand and created some form of drink; it became fairly obvious. Leonardo couldn't help the small smile that tugged at his lips. In a age of bloodshed and war, people were doing magic tricks. It was... well, something to ponder on.

"Interesting." Leonardo said watching the small group, his eyes catching the light, gleaming a soft gold. He examined each member in turn, from the odd, yet alluring, blue haired woman holding onto her arm, to the drink maker with a goofy grin, and finally the woman with long black hair. She... looked like she did not belong there. Surrounded by people enjoying their lives, laughing without worry, yet her smile was so small. A smile Leonardo knew well, it was the same one he gave. One that was for the benefit of the other person alone. He could not make out much else from the distance, but it was something else to ponder.

Saul noticed Leo's expression and told him, "Don't bother saying anything to Oriana if it is anything questioning Benjlakk's neutrality. Anyone from a warring nation who does so in Benjlakki territory ends up arrested, or worse, shot on sight. It is how they have proven their point for five decades, now. In their eyes, the ones who question their neutrality will eventually violate it, and must not be allowed to do so. You must understand, these are a people who withstood and repelled hundreds of invasions and became embittered by them. As such, their resolve is unmatched even by yours, Leo. Do not underestimate them or their willingness to unleash their wrath on those they feel threatened by. At least, they would not kill a civilian. The worst that can happen to one would be life imprisonment. It is the military 'threats' they frequently destroy."

Saul sat next to Calida, not sure if being next to Leo was a good idea. He felt himself a terrible father. That alone weighed heavily on his mind, yet he did not show it.

-----

"Oh, yeah, caffeine can do that..." He listened to her request and said, "No problem! We elves are known for our speed!"

Gracchus did not notice until too late that the Metargo royal family was nearby. Crud... now, they might not take her seriously... then again, anyone who didn't were often shot or imprisoned to drive the point home... Somewhat comforted by that thought, He went to his seat next to Malinha. Where is Cam? Gracchus did not know what to think of the whole situation. After all, why would a Benjlakki diplomat risk her career to go out with a citizen of a warring country? Just that thought left his head downcast.

------

President Howard Anderson stood between two security officers in the conference room, with other officers surrounding the table, rifles armed and held in a diagonal position across their chests. He knew just as the others did, that foreigners would be wise not to question their neutrality while in Benjlakk. Besides, any Benjlakki individual found giving any aid to warring nations, be it through ammunition, weapons, vehicles, or other means, ended up either imprisoned for life, or executed.

Leonardo listened intently as the blue headed woman spoke. She was an amusing woman that much was sure. Connecting the dots, she was most likely a diplomat, but she didn't seem to be like many diplomats he had met before. From the bright clothing, the large unguarded smile, and finally to the... well, refreshingly honest nature. Oriana Aspiral. Leonardo committed the name to memory, well, it was not as if he had a choice. He remembered everything no matter what from names, to faces, to small details he glimpsed over. It was his power and his curse.

"Your faith in me is inspiring." Leonardo said smoothly, hiding his annoyance with his father with years of practice. He was not a child, nor was he a brash fool who went around pointing out peoples flaws, but he felt his patience with his father wearing thin. Every five minutes it seemed like he was being told of how he couldn't do this or should do that. How they were better then him at this or how he should feel ashamed for that. Perhaps he should stop thinking for himself and just allow his father to do that for him? Might make him sleep better at night.

It seemed that the meeting was finally going to get underway as his parents went to find their seats on the 'Metargo' side and the elf went to sit on their own side. He assumed the dark haired woman would be joining him shortly. Leonardo stopped by Oriana and gave her a soft smile and offered his left arm. Leonardo had noticed that she had been holding her arm, and on closer inspection it seemed her arm was a fake, so he offered his arm that would allow her to grip it with her human arm, "Forgive me if I seem forward." Leonardo said softly before leaning and whispering, his arm still held up, "But you see my, oh so, dear father has spent the last hour or so talking my ear off about how I should be on my best behavior and what I should or should not do, and it seems the prospect of me talking to you terrifies him, so allow me the honor of making him squirm for just a little while. It is a sons duty to worry his father is it not?" He said flashing a mischievous smile.

The black haired girl simply watched the interaction between her friend and the diplomat. She always did like love stories, and in keeping with her hope of peace, a love between Gracchus and Oriana would make her visit more pleasurable. When she left, Fink was saddened, mostly because that meant that he had to go back up onto Malinha's shoulder or go to the older man. 'I like her.' The fox said. She agreed and watched as the woman left to get the meeting ready. Gracchus had taken his seat, and she said a small goodbye to Sir. Black and then took her seat beside him, all the while watching who was in the room.

"Do not fret Gracchus, I know of no woman who can resist an elf's charm." She whispered to him, and giggled softly before looking at the room. Guard's were all around, most likely to make sure no violence took place between them, or in case people tried to break into the building. She truly didn't know. Every meeting in her country was open for the public to view, but she recognized that this was a delicate meeting. The King and Queen of Metargo sat opposite her, looking at her slightly. They should be her enemy, but she wished for peace, and would try her hardest for it, no matter the cost to her. She knew it would be hard, sense The Red Prince of War, Leonardo Metargo, would be here. He killed her father, and the pride of Mysticarian would demand she challenge him to a duel and take his head, but she had to be above it, for the sake's of millions.

Fink studied the room, and gave a brief analysis of everyone's emotions, and she focused on the king and Leonardo, as she had to convince them, but she kept the queen in her pocket for an emotional appeal. She had wished the princess was present, she wished for peace as well, and was having an affair with a Benjlakk solider, but she worked with what she was dealt. She closed her book of spies, and put it in her pocket and placed her hands in her lap, and smiled at the king, and then the president. She hoped that the meeting would start soon, as she wanted to voice her opinion early on, but knew that it was considered rude, as the holder of the conference was usually the first to speak at these meetings.

Zechariah looked up at Aza while listening. He did not even have time to respond when he was grabbed by the wrist. When told there was more to Aaron, he thought in his head about what more there could be to him. Either way, Zech noticed Azalea in a nervous state of mind. His heart beat at a more rapid pace when he heard the query, "Your not going to like flip out on me just for being the princess of Metargo and not telling you at all, are you?"

To which, the Benjlakki man smiled and said to her. "No way. I would not flip out at that. You are you, no one else." Were it not for being in a public area, he would have implanted a kiss after saying what he said. What held him back was, he knew people would not look highly upon their relationship, which would put a strain on both of them if the wrong person found out.

Of course, he looked around for some sort of place which would afford them more privacy. He found that in the form of two walls which were part of a previous structure which was no longer there. They were right at the corner of Diplomacy Square they were in, too, which made it ideal for him and Aza to have a little time to themselves. Once both he and her were out of sight, he knelt down a little so to stand somewhat close to her height, right before he kissed her on the cheek. He would have gone for the lips, yet with how hard it is to remove lipstick, neither of them would have been able to hide what they did. Once his lips parted from her cheeks, he handed her a leaf he had on his person.

"This came off a Vitaliik shrub, native to southeastern Fertaninn."

Zechariah knew Aza having possession of something from Benjlakk was risky, yet he figured the Metargo Kingdom would look at the leaf as a souvenir from her time at the District of Justicra. He could only hope he was right. Right now, however, he merely wanted to spend whatever time he could with her. Of course, this was probably enough time without causing suspicion. It was her call, though.

------

Meanwhile, Benmjamin shrugged and told Catrina, "The two of them met before, but the thing is... Zech held back info on him being the 'Eagle of Mercy', while Azalea withheld information on her being the Metargo Princess. That kind of explains how they reacted to each other. So you know, this is not going in the records. if any part of what we saw were to be made known to the public, it would not end well. We should probably continue patrolling, now."

Aaron's cold exterior was replaced with confusion as May held him by the neck. However, he knew what was asked. "Just what Zechariah said. It's a little confusing."

Kyle smirked and walked up in front of him. "What are you thinking about, now, Aaron?"

The leader of the Lion team glared at Kyle. "I can well imagine what you're thinking."

------

Saul did not say a word, though he did spot Leo offering his arm to Oriana. Saul placed a hand on his forehead, lowered his head, and said mostly to himself, "What is he doing...?"

Gracchus, meanwhile, glared at Leo for a brief moment. What was the Red Prince thinking? Jealousy became apparent, but was soon bottled up to avoid anyone getting any wrong ideas.

Zechariah was going to say they should probably head back, but then he remembered the conference would most likely end up a somewhat long one, provided two sides go back and forth on the backlash, or if the two sides just reach an impasse. He held Azalea and said, "I think we should have a bit of time."

------

Kyle smirked. He knew May loved to mess with Aaron, and he had an idea as to the reason. although the wink he felt should have been directed at Aaron. Aaron, on the other hand, did not know what to think of the situation of his mouth being moved by May's fingers right before being poked in the stomach. It did not hurt, yet it made him feel awkward, for some reason.

Kyle held back laughter from his hair being messed with, plus tried to restrain from thinking dirty about being leaned on, as he knew Aaron could get jealous. Kyle knew what was going on, but Aaron did not. Now that Kyle thought about it, possibly the rest of the Lion Team knew, as well, since they have seen May and Aaron interact in this fashion quite frequently.

Once Aaron regained his posture, he snapped out of his awkward daze and said, "Well, we might as well do something, though we can't wander off too far, or we'll end up on a wild goose chase searching for the Princess, which would not be good in our report."

Kyle nodded in agreement. "I'll get us some drinks. Just tell me where you two are going, and I'll meet you there once I have the refreshments. I know what I'm getting, what about you?"

Aaron shrugged. "I guess I'll have a strawberry daiquiri. I never liked the bitter stuff. As for where to go, I was thinking maybe... hmm... quite frankly, I don't know what to do. Where do you think we should go, May, that is within this part of Diplomacy Square?"

It was then Kyle saw Max, which made him smile more genuinely, since that mechanic can be fun to talk to, despite the fact Max's bisexual behavior does make things a little awkward inwardly, even if it did not show. Once Kyle heard what May wanted, plus where she and Aaron would go, Kyle walked up to Max and waved while saying, "Hey, Max! Nice to see you, buddy! How've you been?" He waited until he heard Max's response before adding. "I'm getting a few drinks for Aaron, May , and I. WAnt to come with me for one, too? I hear the Benjlakki gals, especially from Fertaninn, the region we are in, are tough from working farms and solar technology, which makes for some hot figures."

------

Benjamin started right after Catrina said to lead the way. It was mostly uneventful until Ben noticed someone who seemed a little out of place. It was a white-haired girl, yet she did not look like a Metargo citizen, whom are known for a great many of them having nearly-colorless hair. He could not determine what was different, yet there was something. Perhaps it was just him. He did not even know he was glancing over in the direction of an angel, since the wings were not visible. Ben quickly recovered so not to stare or be rude and continued his patrol. Hmmm... that girl is rather cute...

------

Gracchus was inwardly upset that Orianna actually accepted. Of course, given his hearing being so great, he knew it was only to annoy the King of Metargo, but he still felt a pang of jealousy. He would definitely ask Orianna out before the Prince could have the chance to.

President Howard Anderson waited until all the people from both sides meant to be here were seated to speak, but when he was about to, he saw Oriana and Sir. Black already arguing about something off topic. Even the security officers shook their heads and groaned, since the two bickering diplomats were not making a good first impression. "That is quite enough, you two! We are not talking about bombs in this conference. This is about the war going on between Metargo and Mysticara. Would you be so kind as to stay on topic, and furthermore, wait for the meeting to come to order? Thank you."

The President then turned his attention forward. "Now, as I was about to say, the first thing you should know before we begin is that we do not take any foreign questioning of our neutrality lightly, as those who have doubts about it are more likely to violate it, and must be dealt with in the necessary manner to make the point clear. That being said, we shall begin.

On the possibility of allying with one of the two nations present, it should be noted that there are many Senators in Congress who are unwilling to side with a nation with a general who would massacre entire communities of civilians, neither do they feel it beneficial to side with a country experiencing the brunt of the massacres, as such tragedies could reach our own citizens and residents, leaving even children in our lands as part of the casualties. Such barbarism on the part of military personnel who order such genocide does not settle in the stomachs of the Benjlakki people. In order to convince the Senate in Congress either way, this issue especially must be addressed, the reason we have invited Leonardo Metargo, so he can to explain himself in this conference. First, though, we must have the views of our own citizens mentioned, which is where Oriana Aspiral comes in. Oriana, if you will..."

Saul listened intently to what all was being said. He knew this would be difficult, considering the circumstances. Regardless, he was not one to give up without trying.

Leonardo flashed a smile in thanks, glad that she had accepted his offer. It would have been fairly awkward should she had rejected his offer. He had not believed she would, as if he did, he would not have offered, but believing and knowing are two very different things. He was nearly recovered from his previous smile before she spoke again of old men and their hearts, and he could not help but smile once again, "We wouldn't want that now, imagine the scandal." He said gently waving his hand to show his beliefs on such dramatics.

Leonardo was impressed with how well she moved. His own walk was slow, his robes shimmering with every movement, and his posture was impeccable, and so walking next to him was always a challenge. A daunting one as his allure tended to overshadow whoever he was next to, yet Oriana was not merely holding up but thriving. While far shorter than he, the blue haired diplomat did well as if she was feeding off his own allure and was glowing more beautiful for it. An odd thought, but the way she moved now reminded him of a great cat. Each movement was controlled and precise, and Leonardo did not recall her moving as such before.

The mention of her arm caused his eyes to phase out for just a moment as he relived a previous experience in perfect detail. The young soldier, no. Not a soldier, a child of only fifteen clutching onto Leonardo's forearms as he spat blood up saying the same thing over and over again, 'I want to go home...'. The child-soldier had stepped on a mine which tore apart his leg leaving only a shredded mess left over. Shrapnel had tore small holes all over his body, the medic was trying to remove the leg with a bone-saw to place the clogging solution into the wound. They had ran out of anesthetics on the second day of combat, and so the child had to suffer through it, and Leonardo had to hold him down. The sound of the bone-saw slicing through flesh and the grinding sound of bone yielding to metal was always able to break above the screams... The boy would have gotten a metal leg, but he did not survive the operation.

Leonardo's eyes refocused, and he gave a polite smile to hide the fact that he had lost sense for a moment. Feeling her arm slide out from his, he moved his arm behind his back as without her holding on to it; it felt rather odd to simply have it hanging out. Leonardo gave a bow in return to her nod, and turned away. Pity. Yes, he could understand that hatred for pity.

Making his way to his parents, he sat on the other side of his mother, and waited for the charade to be over. Leonardo gave the president a polite nod as he spoke about him. Barbarism? In war?! Oh, say it isn't so. Leonardo kept his small polite smile on his face as the president talked and was, honestly, highly amused by the dramatics. He was the scapegoat this time for their indecision. They did not want to join the war, but didn't have the self-respect to simply say so, so they needed a valid reason, and it seemed he was it.

Leonardo was slightly interested to know that it was they who invited him. His father had never let that slip and instead brought the entire family. If he had, perhaps, told him of the personal invitation he would have been able to put two and two together and figure out that they wanted to use him as a scapegoat. If he had known, he would have prepared a speech.

Oriana Aspiral. The name of the fair diplomat had Leonardo turning his attention to her once more. She was one of only two people that had managed to interest him. Her and the black haired Mysticaran. If her sharp tongue proved as powerful as her beauty; he may roll over and surrender now saving himself the trouble.

Zechariah smiled gently, as was customary of him to do, as he gazed into Azalea's eyes, again. There this sense of calm whenever he saw those beautiful, light blue eyes. He thought for a moment and remembered something. "I know of a bakery, just outside Diplomacy Square, that is always open. Ben and I sometimes went there during our last stay in the District of Justicra, which was when we were first trained in handling Mechs. Everything at that bakery is made fresh, and the coffee is not bad, either. We can tell the head baker that I am giving you a tour of the city, so they won't even suspect anything. What do you say?"

------

Aaron shrugged. "Only because of a few previous visits, plus I've seen a map of the city that was made from a satellite photo via a military computer during our country's previous war. We never made it to the District of Justicra due to being pushed back by the Benjlakki, Zechariah among them, but I if I remember the details. If I remember right, there is a shooting game section not far from here. Let's go check it out."

Aaron held May's hand, not sure of why, and led her to what he was talking about. Soon enough, he found the game he was looking for. "This one is where you take a game pistol, designed to look real when shooting it while not doing any actual harm, and shoot at the target, which moves to another area of the screen when the shot hits. The location of the target that is hit determines the number of points you gain. If it's a bullseye, you gain ten points. There is a stop in in the middle of the session where you switch out the clip as fast as you can, as you are competing with other people who are participating the same time as you are, before shooting again. At the end of the whole session, the scores are compared. The winner is the person with the highest score, whose score is then compared to the scores of other previous winners that ever came about. If yours is a high score, you get a prize, which is usually some sort of souvenir. Want to have a go?"

------

Benjamin glanced in the white-haired girl's direction, noticing her. Upon that, his face went three shades of red. Oh, crud! What do I do? He turned around with a nervous look as he placed a hand behind his neck. "Uh... Y-yes, miss? A-anything I can help with?"

-------

Gracchus admired Oriana's passion for the discussion, which showed in his smile. He did not even notice her metallic arm. I think I'm in love...

Meanwhile, the President nodded towards Oriana and then glanced towards Leonardo. "Leonardo Metargo, will you please stand and speak?"

Resources? Leonardo was a madman! Every Benjlakki officer in the room looked on at Leonardo with utter disgust. Besides, what use did Benjlakk have for Metargo's technology when their environmentally friendly gear worked just as efficiently, if not more so? Of all the men representing Benjlakk, only President Howard Anderson kept his reserve and calmness in the midst of the obvious anger. Howard nodded and said, "I comprehend what you are saying, though there are flaws in your logic I can see. Regardless, I shall refrain from speaking of my own opinions until I hear more from both sides. With Leonardo's explanation out of the way..."

One of the security officers interrupted when he stepped forward in outrage as he spoke with the same intensity he showed. "What threat would a child pose, especially a very young one? What about a pregnant woman? Or somebody with a developmental disorder, such as severe autism or down syndrome? What did they do to deserve death? What threat would they pose? Look at the infants, toddlers, and newborns! None of such people could pose nearly as big a threat as a battle-hardened soldier! Those so-called 'resources' I have specified most likely would not be working a military factory, or manufacturing weapons, nor would they be the ones to carry a lethal weapon! To ensure a civilian's safety is not 'treating war as a game', as the Red Prince puts it! Protecting civilians is at the core of what a military should be like! Isn't that right, men?"

The other security officers simultaneously pumped their right fists into the air while shouting three times in unison, "Justice!"

President Anderson shrugged and told the officers, "That interruption was not necessary." Looking back at the table, he continued. "Anyway, would King Saul please stand and speak?"

Saul stood up, ever so calmly, and gave his point of view on the matter. "It is the opinion of Metargo's Parliament that the reason we fight is to survive as a nation, as an arms race has occurred after our defeat in our previous war, against Benjlakk. Both sides, as in Metargo and Mysticara, have feared one another due to hostilities on how a nation should use its resources. For most Metargo men and women, progress is what is needed, yet what kind of progress has never been defined. This unfortunately led to tensions until the Mysticarans felt threatened enough to attack one of our factories which built weapons, armor, and other equipment. At the time, Parliament's intent was to hold the Mysticaran Federation off. Unfortunately, it turned into a conflict of retaliation rather quickly, as the nation's citizens were that outraged at the attack. I, myself, merely wish to reach a point where a ceasefire can be declared, so there will be times for both sides to calm down and recover."

The moment Saul sat down, one of the Metargo soldiers present stood up and pounded his fist to the ground. "What's the point of a ceasefire when such a backwards society insists upon forcing us to change our way of life!? Science has always led to the betterment of society at large, increasing life expectancy, speeding up production, and providing many other benefits to society! We can no longer afford to live in a cave and be content with low standards of living! The survival of mankind depends upon the progress we make in our technology! We cannot just stop at where we are at, lest we decide to reverse all that we gained!"

President Anderson maintained his calm and motioned for the Metargo soldier to sit down, while asking for a Mysticaran official to share his opinion. This individual had this persona of fierceness about him, as shown in his numerous scars. It was the Head Councilor, Marcus Pericles, the very first elf to be elected Head Councilor of the Mysticaran Federation. He has seen more battles than most chieftains in their lifetimes due to having lived so long.

Marcus glared at the soldier who spoke before giving his rebuttal. "Such 'progress' often came at the expense of wildlife and plant life. One cannot call it progress if the setbacks are just as great. It can only do harm, in the long run. What of the trees and shrubs which provide medicine and food? What of the natural balance in our world which ensures life not just for nature, but also civilization? To disrupt that would endanger every living being on the planet due to species after species dying out that maintained such balance. In the end, there would be nothing left to protect, nothing to preserve, only a mass extinction which would echo for eternity. That is why we fight Mysticarans fight."

When Marcus Pericles sat down, President Anderson calmly glanced over to Malinha. "Chieftain Nedilo, would you care to add anything to the discussion?"

Gracchus looked in the Chieftain's direction, wondering what she would mention. He knew the spy network might have given her something to talk about. However, that was a mystery to him, since he did not know what all she knew.

The Chieftain only sat stroking her demon while the circus came to town all around her. The Red Prince was asked to speak, and after flirting with a diplomat, proceeded to defend his tactics. Malinha, had she not been a patient person, would have challenged him to a duel and killed him. She knew the strategy to winning an alliance was patient and being the better negotiator. Fink had confirmed that he held in firm belief that the prince meant what he had said, which didn't surprise her in the slightest.

When the soldier's began to voice their own opinions on the war, she felt it was a silly distraction. She wanted to use the whole 'appealing to emotion' argument, but knew it was a useless tactic in this setting, and hearing from those men confirmed it to her. Fink was excited at the large array of hatred coming from most of the room. He sat in her lap, his fur began to stand on end, and she guessed he was close to running, so she held him tighter and whispered to him, "Be soft, Fink. We can not afford that happening here." And this calmed him slightly. The thing that no one, not even the Head Counselor knew was how destructive Fink could be with her. It was one of the reason she never had a focus to use magic, the demon was her focus, and if used properly, could be more destructive than most bombs. But she had managed to calm him.

She bowed her head when the Head Counselor was asked to rebut. He was a very important person, and he had won more battled than she dared to think. He had also been one of the few people who supported her stance in the war when she became a Chieftain, and was thankful for the insight her spies gave her. She nodded slightly as he spoke, but knew that her tactic would be a peaceful one, as is her nature.

When the President had addressed her, she was surprised a tad. She knew she would most likely speak, but the rate that he asked her was quick. She simply nodded to him as she walked to the center stage were she would address the crowd, her fox following her footsteps and looking around at everyone as she began to speak.

"Dear President Anderson, and everyone else who lines this room, while I am grateful for the opportunity to speak on my country's behalf, it saddens me that I must do so." She spoke in a soft, but firm voice, her usual voice. "This war that my country finds itself embroiled in has left my people, as well as the ones from Metargo, with a deepened hatred for the other, and only wishes to see more blood spilled until none are left standing. And while this may be an effective way to end conflict, as previously pointed out, It is not the best way to end this conflict."

"I wish to give a little information to the council today on how people of Mysticara battle, especially in my tribe. We fight smartly, bravely, and ruthlessly, but we are always lead by our Chieftain of the tribe. This responsibility would fall on me now, as I have inherited the title from my father when he was killed by the Red Prince Leonardo. But I tell you here truthfully that I have never, nor do I wish to, enter battle. I have not once joined my people, and instead they have been lead by Gracchus Occi, who sits beside me." She said, and used her hand to softly point to him, before returning them together in front of her stomach. "Some have said I do this because I fear battle, but this is not so. I would relish the idea of destroying my enemies who murder my people without hesitation, but I stay out because I wish to express my wish for peace.

"The difference between Mysticara and Metargo are numerable to the point of excessive. However, for all of the differences, one thing is true for both. Neither of there leaders wish to send their people to die for purposes that mean nothing to them. And while the common people, as seen by a member of the Metargo military, prove to be ignorant to the greater peace, and use hatful language, everyone here today knows how much damage will be done by continuing this war. Deaths in the millions, entire cites, villages, and towns destroyed. This is a price that is far too high for a bad peace to exist."

She then turned to the President, as she had been trying to move around and look at everyone, and looked at him with soft eyes. "That is why today I, Chieftain Malinha of the Natrulkra Tribe, wish to call upon the government and people of Benjlakk to not join this war, but rather act as a mediator for Metargo and Mysticara, and help a peace grow between these countries. Even though I am but one of many Chieftains, I was called here to join my leader because of my tribe's strength. I am willing to pay any price to see a long standing peace run between the nations and for relations to improve," She then turned briefly over to Leonardo, and then returned to talking, "But I will warn this. Should a peace not be reached, and this war continue, I will join in this fight, and I will make sure that no matter the damages done by the Red Prince, the damages done to his people will be returned ten fold."

She then bowed to President Anderson, before taking her seat again beside her friend. 'I pray that they listen.' She thought, and then Fink told her, 'You did a good job Linha, it is out of your hands now, just be at peace now.'

Zechariah, upon hearing Aza's agreement, motioned for her to follow as he walked along. He made sure she was with him, in the process. Once outside Diplomacy Square, he led her to the bakery he talked about. The interior had the aroma of home-baked goods about it. Zech saw the head baker come in and greet him while wondering why Azalea was with her.'

Zechariah answered with, "I'm giving her a tour of town."

The baker nodded and went over to the counter to take Zech's order. There was a great variety of things to choose from. The coffee seemed to have as much variety.

Zechariah spoke once he made his decision. "I think I'll have a blueberry bagel." Glancing towards Aza, he asked her, "See anything you like?"

----

Aaron smirked at the thought of May competing with him. He knew this was going to be fun. The sergeant followed May to the game mentioned and put in the coins needed foe both of them. picking up the fake pistol, he waited for her to do the same before pressing the start button. His shots were rather accurate, yet he did not always hit the bullseye, only sometimes.

----

Benjamin raised an eyebrow, since he was not sure what she was talking about. It was confusing. Either way, he said to the white-haired girl, "Sure."

----

President Anderson heard both Malinha and Oriana speak on a possible peaceful union. He knew this would not be easy, so he nodded and said to the people in conference. "We shall now take this time to take a break from the meeting. We shall continue after a bit of time has passed. I would also recommend considering what all was said earlier."

Officials, military personnel, and other people at the conference got up and began moving about. This was Gracchus' chance, which he took and walked up to Oriana with a closed-mouth grin. "You were amazing, Oriana!"

Meanwhile, Saul remained where he was and held Calida's hand. He knew this would not be an easy decision, considering what all has happened. The king could hear his own men speaking amongst themselves in confusion. Whatever would happen was a mystery.

-----

Kyle laughed softly prior to leading Max to the bar in the refreshment section. The atmosphere was pleasant enough, considering the mix of different kinds of people gathered here. Heading over to the bartender, he order a vodka, strawberry daiquiri, and a hot chocolate. With all three orders in place and paid for, he offered to pay for Max's drink, as well. Once Max received his, Kyle noticed a Benjlakki soldier in a black uniform. She was quite attractive, both in the body and in the face. Kyle nudged Max and motioned for him to look in her direction.

"Go for it."

Next came another Benjlakki soldier, whom was wearing a different uniform and had red hair. Her face radiated a kind of innocence that he found hard to resist. She's adorable! Picking up the vodka, strawberry daiquiri, and hot chocolate with a cup handler, he expressed his easygoing nature while saying to the red-head. "Well, hello there, cuteness! Aren't you looking lovely?"

Leonardo sucessfully blocked out the sounds of his father and another man talking. If he wished too, he could think back to the conversation and remember every word, but he truly did not wish to do so. He was quiet content with concentrating on Oriana in order to allow himself time to organize his thoughts. He still could not fight the feeling that he had been set up. Someone had wanted him to take a shot, and Leonardo was not sure who it was. Either it was his father or the Benjlakk government, either way, this was a prime example of why he despised politics. Dishonesty and ambition ran rampant; so far he had only met one diplomat who had the self-respect to speak plainly. Everyone was always trying to blame another, but he supposed it was easier. To blame one man instead of one nation. One idea.

The soft sounds of footsteps were not enough to get his attention, but the soft voice was. A strong, but feminine voice. Turning his head to the other occupant of the floor, he spotted the same black haired woman from before, only this time he was close enough to see everything. From the strange black fox that trotted by her side, to her perfect posture that rivaled his own, and to the most shocking thing of all, her pure white eyes. It reminded him slightly of his own hair, and they held a charm all on their own. Bringing up her name from what the Preisdent said just moments ago, Malinha Nedilo.

Leonardo kept his face passive as his mind raced. Nedilo. The chieftain who lead the forces he ambushed in his very first battle. The man he struck down in the battle... Was her father. It was odd. Leonardo had killed fathers, sons, brothers, daughters and mothers; yet the idea that he had killed this woman's father created a pang in his heart, but he pushed it down with the firm reminder that it was war. Had he not killed her father, her father would have killed him, but it still did not remove that slight ache because, in the end, he still cut down her father.

Red Prince. Leonardo forced himself not to wince at the alias. He had never minded before, but the way she spoke it; it was, well, he found it rather unpleasant. It was not a name, it sounded more like a curse. Leonardo felt the small smile tug at his lips when she spoke of people saying she stayed out of war because she was afraid of war. His own people had whispered that behind his back as well once.

Leonardo spotted the Metargo soldier who looked down in a mixture of shame and anger when she spoke about him, but he also felt her sting, but it was the truth. He would kill millions if that is what he had to do... And then she dropped the bombshell. Her plan all along, and it was an intelligent one. Use it to pave the way to peace. It was, well, it was a brilliant move. If the Metargo military seemed to eager to keep fighting they would seem bloodthirsty, well, more then they already were, and if they agreed they would lose what little land they had gained from the war.

Personally, Leonardo felt it was for the best. The stalemate had taken it's toll on the Metargo military, and they were tired. Time to rest would do wonders for morale as well as allow them time to further build up their strength to ensure they did not fail the next time, and he had not lied when he said he felt no true ill will towards Malinha's people. They were defending themselves as he would expect his own people to do. Sure, their way of life was alien and savage, but it was not enough for Leonardo to feel anything overall about them. If anything, he disliked the citizens of Benjlakk far more, with a few... No, just one exception.

Leonardo felt a spark run down his spine when his eyes met hers for the first time. Her white eyes seeming to reflect his very soul back at him, and for a second. Just a second, Leonardo felt everything about him laid bare as if his hard fought persona of the Prince no longer existed. It was a freeing yet... terrifying moment, but it was most likely merely his imagination and nothing more.

Her declaration to join the war did not frighten Leonardo, on the contrary, for some reason; it excited him, and he was not sure why. In the entire war, the only person he felt that had given him any kind of pause was whoever was pulling the strings behind their forces incredible foresight and redeployment abilities, and yet this woman made his heart miss a beat... It was odd, and he did not fail to notice. He was not Prince Leonardo. Nor simply Leonardo. He was the Red Prince to her.

Leonardo did not expect to find anything in Benjlakk... but how odd life turned out. The daughter of a slain enemy who managed to make him feel a pang of guilt, and oddly enough, excite him, and then the azure haired diplomat. The diplomat who could smile unguarded and aid in childish desires before turning around like a deadly tiger and control men and women far more powerful then she.

The azure tiger spoke once more, this time with icy determination. It seemed that she had finally found what she was looking for, but then considering what little he knew of her; this was probably the outcome she desired the most. Leonardo remained silent as she spoke, and was glad that the pressure was no longer on him, although he still felt as if someone had tried to use him as a scapegoat, but it seems that there was nothing he could do about that at the moment.

The president declared a time for a break, and Leonardo gave a single nod to show his understanding. That was for the best. Everyone needed time to think it over, and Leonardo was in no mood to aid his father in deciding because he was one of the prime suspects in setting him up to take the political bullet.

While Malinha intrigued him to no end, and he wanted to speak to her, he also did not wish to speak to her at the same time. What could he possibly say to her that would not offend her or be about their current situation? Nothing. He would not force someone to speak to the man who killed their parent. Even the Red Prince was not that cruel. No, fate decreed that they be enemies.

Turning his head, as he faintly hoped to catch Oriana in a conversation as maybe she could make him forget all of this. If only for a moment, maybe he could throw back his head and just laugh, but it seems he was a little too slow as Malinha's soldier, Gracchus, jumped to speak with her. Perhaps it was for the best because he had nothing to offer her. His desire to speak to her were incredibly selfish. She had, no doubt, a lot of work ahead of her and would not have the time to spare in speaking with a Prince just so that he could laugh again or because he simply wished to be in her company. Leonardo had long come to the terms that he would most likely marry who his father and mother wished in order to strengthen Metargo's position, and it wouldn't be right for him to harbor thoughts of anyone as it would only hurt everyone involved. He was a prince, and he was not allowed such luxuries especially if they were about another nations diplomat or... the daughter of a slain enemy.

Leonardo gave Oriana a soft smile before turning away and walking out the doors and into the fresh air. Taking a deep breath, he let it out slowly trying to regain his thoughts and composure. Politics. How he detested them. Leonardo stood besides the door, watching the crowd as he tried to enjoy the brief respite.

Calida Metargo

Calida knew that she should have been prepared for... well, what was going on in the room at the moment, and she honestly thought that she had been, but everyone's actions still took her by surprise.
Truthfully, the queen really didn't like war meetings.

While a few others in the room disagreed, Calida had thought her son's speech was wonderful. Silently in her head she was congratulating him and made a mental note to bring it up later.
As her husband Saul stood up to speak next, Calida focused on giving his words her full attention. Her thought's traveled quickly though, and in no more than a few seconds the queen found herself wondering if she would be called to speak next. Hopefully not. What did she know about persuading people? Besides, she was merely there to give support to her husband and son, not to give long, boring speeches on why Metargo deserves to be heard out.

Saul sat back down and once again Calida placed her hand in his. The moment she did so one of the Metargo soldiers shot up from his seat and began raising his voice.
Calida, at the moment, wanted to have him thrown out of the room. Luckily for not only the soldier but everyone else present, President Anderson motioned for him to sit down before Calida could do anything.

As the Head Councilor began talking, Calida did her best to not look as if she wanted to be in any other place than the one she was in at the moment. In other words, she was trying not to look bored.
She knew that what was being discussed was important, but really the queen was starting to worry where Azalea was, hopefully not getting into trouble.

Zechariah shrugged while giggling a little, as well, thinking on what Aza said. He broke eye contact and ate a little. With a few bites of his bagel down, he swallowed the latest one and looked in the Princess' direction. He figured talking about certain relative of hers would result in an uncomfortable situation, so he decided to ask a question on something else. He heard from other people Metargo cities were largely metallic, with gardens on the roofs of buildings due to them being to tall. Either way, he felt that should he meet some of her family (assuming it was at any point safe enough to have their relationship known to the public) he would have to know about the nation, sooner or later.

"What is Metargo like?"

-----

Benjamin nodded, a bit more relaxed, now, and nodded towards Clarissa. "Sure do. Was there a specific place you had in mind? I know that the Disctrict of Justicra is a massive place, like Diplomacy Square is. Anyway, I can help with that."

-----

Kyle noticed the shyness from Catrina and thought of how adorable she was. Frankly, he was a bit shy, as well. He was always like that on the inside whenever seeing someone he genuinely liked. He was a pervert, yes, but not to the point of insensitivity. He still did not show anything but the grin on his face. He could be such a smooth talker, sometimes. He was about to say something when he heard Aaron from a distance, which was not at all pleasant with him not showing up.

Kyle shugged and handed Catrina a paper with his communications number before he walked up to Aaron with, "Sorry, I got a bit sidetracked."

Aaron scoffed. "I can see that."

Kyle handed the hot chocolate (which was still warm, to an extent) to May, and the strawberry daiquiri to Aaron. Picking up the cup of vodka and sipping it, he thought on what else was there to do. Of course, he did not desire to leave Catrina's side. Alas, if they had to, they had to.

-----

Gracchus heard what Oriana said and felt somewhat more relaxed. Of course, it was only fair that the diplomat not make a decision. Not knowing one another so well could pose a problem. Granted, he did not have much of a choice on admitting his feelings due to putting himself in a spot where he had to. Nodded, he went back to the room and sat down without a word.

------

Saul decided to break the silence between him and Calida. He was not sure when the meeting would continue, so he said to her, "Calida, darling, you were always better at social matters, which is why I need a little help from you with something." The King sighed prior to resuming. "I believe I may have been too hard on Leo, and I feel I was a terrible father because of that. I wish to make it up to him, yet I am not sure how to go about it."

Calida Metargo

Calida, though not wanting to say it aloud, was secretly happy the meeting had ended for the moment. She wasn't, however, thrilled with the reason why it ended.
Honestly! Was it really so hard to have a nice, pleasant conversation while discussing war? These people were horrendous to work with!
And Leonardo, ever since he left the room Calida was worried that he'd do something reckless. If he did... well, Calida would make it so he'd be dreading their return to Metargo.

"Calida, darling," Saul's voice pulled Calida out of her thoughts. She looked at her husband and immediately sensed his worry, You were always better at social matters, which is why I need a little help from you with something." Her husband let out a sigh, which triggered Calida's own worry.
"I believe I may have been too hard on Leo, and I feel I was a terrible father because of that. I wish to make it up to him, yet I am not sure how to go about it."
Calida smiled, "You are a lot of things, Saul. I admit that. But I assure that you are certainly not a terrible father for saying what you must." She said, and in reassurance she squeezed her husband's hand, "You and I both love Leo dearly, but he is a man, not a boy, I do not think he needs you to make anything up to him." Calida went on, "Give it some time, I doubt that our Leonardo is even angry."

Calida was mostly confident in her words, but for a second she wondered if they were true. What if Leo was angry? That would be a problem.
'Address the issue, don't dismiss each others feelings, and be reasonable, Calida. Family is important, you cannot let the relationship with them go wrong.' Was something that her mother had told her long ago, and what Calida had told her husband and both her children.
She didn't think neither Saul or Leonardo needed to be reminded of that, and hopefully they both had it stored in mind.

Zechariah nodded occasionally to confirm he was listening. Metargo Capitag'hk, coming from Azalea's mouth, sounded like a nice city, yet the towers blocking the sky so much would take some getting used to. Shrugging, he answered her question with, "Nah, I can't think of anything specific." Finishing off his bagel, he thought on what to discuss, next. As he thought on it, he saw a pair of birds building a nest at a nearby tree. If only we could be like them and not worry about what other people think. The mere recollection on the reality of what both the Benjlakki and Metargo would say to them being together gave him a saddened frown. One of these days, Zechariah. Soon, it will be safe. It is just a matter of time. All this political stuff needs to fade away, first, is all.

------

Benjamin grinned a little. for some odd reason, he felt a lot calmer, less intense. Of course, he was a sucker for innocent-looking people, yet he felt even more so around this woman, and he could not place a finger on why. Nodding, Benjamin showed her around town, including some of the major sites, such as Justicra Library, where books on countless topics were found (even a ton of old newspapers and recordings).Last, but not least, the bakery next to Diplomacy Square. "My brother and I came here, once in a while, during our first time in this city for mech piloting training. Everything in this bakery is handmade."

------

Kyle looked behind him and saw Catrina walking away, which made him snap his fingers in disappointment. "Drat."

Aaron simply rolled his eyes. "You can't get your mind off of women, can you?"

"I try."

Aaron glanced over at a nearby clock. "Well, we may need to get going back to the gate we came through. I don't know when the conference will end, so we're better safe than sorry."

He led all both Kyle and May back to where they were at the gate to see Zechariah and Azalea on the bench together. At this point, Aaron's cold façade faded just by reflecting on what all Zechariah said. His face expressed subtle signs of regret at ever being so harsh towards the Eagle of Mercy, whom would prefer not to be preferred as such. Kyle was the first to notice.

"Hey, sergeant? You seem to be down, a little."

Aaron glanced in Kyle's direction. "What makes you say that?"

Kyle smirked. "Oh, come on! You hardly ever let that cold façade go away. What's eating you?"

"Nothing."

Shrugging, the perverted Private told him, "Okay, but if you ever want to talk about it, let us know."

-----

Agathe took a sip of iced, decaffeinated coffee, to refresh after having arrived at the District of Justicra. She had many things to attend to before arriving so late, such as reconfiguring the 9H-K Red Bolt via spells so that it could handle magic ammo and projectiles, plus give off a magic blade where plasma would be, since plasma is still a mystery to most Mysticarans. She felt Cam Broch has been dealt a bad hand and could use a friend. Fertaninn had quite a beauty of its own, she had to admit, with all the farms, bizarre windmills, communities which thrive on solar energy, and all sorts of natural wildlife and plantlife native only to Benjlakk. The towns were amazing, as well, with all the different arrays of buildings and gardens, plus the occasional fountains and pools. She loved it all.

Agathe decided to use a spell she developed which would allow her to see different sites of the city without having to move about. Frankly, she eventually spotted a Metargo soldier armed with a sniper rifle looking onwards toward a window in the Conference Hall, which gave her some concern. Who would risk the wrath of Benjlakk doing what she thought the man was doing? Then again, he could have been doing something else, yet she had no clue. At any rate, she was compelled to go see this man. Her teleportation worked just fine, her winding up behind the man without a sound. Granted, she wondered how much longer it would be before matters got out of hand, as she took a large enough risk teleporting behind him.

Hesitantly, she tapped him on the shoulder while shyly saying, "Hello? I-Is everything okay? I mean, Benjlakk doesn't want any violence, and they are strict about enforing their polices so... there's nothing to worry about, right?" Agathe took a few steps back at noticing the mask. It was one she was familiar with from reading a book on the Metargo military while bored. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

----

Saul smiled towards Calida ever so gently. Her response was not what he expected, given how she mistook part of what he said, yet he realized he should have worded it differently. At any rate, his wife was correct in that Leonardo should not be treated like a boy. Yet, it did nothing to ease his remorse, overall, at how he was not particularly fatherly towards their son. He hid that well with his closed-mouth grin as he waited for everyone to be seated so that President Anderson could give commence with the continuation of the meeting.

"You wish to speak to me after this meeting has ended?" Leonardo gave a soft nod. Well, in truth, he merely said it because it was the most polite way to end the conversation. If he just said, 'Excuse me, but I must go.' It would have been a little... well, rude, and he was many things, but he did not consider himself to be rude. "If I were an paranoid woman, I would think you ask because you wish to kill me in an alley. If I was a love, I would think this is a declaration of affection. I am unsure how to read this, but I agree that we may meet again, and hopefully not on the battle field."

Leonardo raised an eyebrow at her over-evaluation of his simple desire to end the conversation. Kill her? Well, perhaps. He still believed she wished him dead as no matter how hard she try to preach peace and understanding, he had slain her father. He simply could not fathom Malinha not wishing for his death. Declaration of affection? No. Leonardo would never do something so bold or crass. She was the enemy, at the moment, and the daughter of a man he had killed. There would never be anything like that between them, well, and he had just met her and while yes, he would admit that both Malinha and Oriana were both very beautiful women; he was not that kind of man.

A Prince had to be above such things... Or at least, that is what he told himself. One conversation was not nearly enough to develop such strong feelings besides interest in the person behind the mask she skillfully portrayed. Leonardo had a mask of his own, and while he couldn't see through hers; he felt it was there. Her smile was always polite, but her eyes always danced with with mischief or amusement.

"I believe that it is almost time for the meeting to start again. See you later, Leonardo." See you later. An odd phrase. Not one used by the more posh nobility of Metargo that Leonardo was used to rubbing shoulders with. It was a commons phrase, one he heard soldiers use from time to time, but that was to be expected given her culture. More then that, the wink. While the wink was indeed, alluring, it raised Leonardo's caution of her. Malinha was a cunning woman which was different from an intelligent woman. A cunning woman was one that had to be watched, and a man had to be careful around such a woman before they find themselves caught in their web. Perhaps if he had not slain her father and was not a Prince; it would almost be worth getting caught in that web.

So lost in his thoughts over Malinha's actions he failed to notice Oriana until she spoke to him, "It seems the people of Mysticaran are quite flirtatious... Though judging by Malinha I think your hallway date went better then mine... In fact I'm pretty sure I just broke some poor elfs heart... Either that or he's highly embarrassed by his declaration...But she is right I believe the meeting will be re-commencing shortly... We should both get back in there... Or your father might actually have a heart attack... Though if it ended the meeting faster I'd not complain."

Leonardo smiled at her for more reasons then simply that he was glad to see her after such an... odd and dangerous conversation. Quite flirtatious? No, Leonardo could not shake that she had done that on purpose. He wasn't sure why, perhaps it was to enjoy a small measure of revenge? Perhaps she was willing to offer up her body to gain peace? Or perhaps it was simply a diplomatic weapon that only women had. Either way, he couldn't believe it was simple flirting, not given their history.

Hallway date? Leonardo shook his head softly at that; it was anything but. Broke some poor elf's heart? It was wrong, and he had no right to, but Leonardo was both amused and glad he had his heart broken. He found Oriana both interesting and beautiful, and in another life; he would have tried to court her, well, he would probably have tried to court Malinha too, but that wasn't the point. It felt good to know the elf failed that Oriana was still available. Granted, he could never attempt anything, but it was pleasing to know that.

His father having a heart attack? She remembered. Leonardo couldn't help the small chuckle that left his lips at the thought. Oh, may the Gods above have mercy upon Metargo if the 'brave' and 'perfect' King Saul were to have a heart attack due to the actions of the dreaded Red Prince.... A monster prince indeed.

"It's like trying to be civil with a bunch of hormonal baboons..." The way she ran her hand through her hair was almost adorable. It was a different, Leonardo noted between Oriana and Malinha. With Oriana he felt relaxed and at ease as if he could let down his guard for once. With Malinha it was as if he was fighting a battle, one he did not understand against an opponent that was far more deadly then they appeared. Women were frightful creatures.

But yes, he agreed. Hormonal baboons; Leonardo would have to remember that one. He wanted to speak more, but understood the situation well enough to know better. They didn't have time for such things. Not now, and probably, not ever. Leonardo followed her into the hall, and gave her a small nod goodbye, but as she was in front of him; he doubted she saw it. Leonardo moved to his families place, and sat once more in his spot which would be once again on his mother's left.

((The meeting has started. There was just a break from it, for a bit.))

Agathe nearly blushed at the sight of the man with his mask off. In her mind, she was thinking of him as handsome. Of course, she realized that if the peace talks failed, she would probably have to face him, at some point. At first, when the man held out his hand, she did not know what to do. Yet, she quickly realized this was how they greeted each other. She hesitantly placed her hand in his for the shake. "Agathe. Agathe Erasmus." She did not know what to do, nor what to say. But, somehow, she felt something around him. What was it?

-----

President Anderson waited until everyone was seated prior to speaking. "Well, everyone, we have come to the point where we determine what each person representing their country decides on this union being formed. Marcus Pericles?"

Marcus stood up to speak. "I must say, I feel Chieftain Nedilo has a point. This war did escalate dramatically. It will not be easy to convince the Council to agree to this union. As fro what I think on this, I will have to give it some more thought when I head back to Mysticara."

President Anderson nodded before motioning for Saul to say his piece, next. The King had this to say: "Prime Minister Lopez is a proud man. It would be no simple feat to convince him this proposed union would be the correct course of action, either. He truly does believe Mysticara to be a backwards society. Such a mentality is difficult to break. Personally, I would have to agree with Chieftain Nedilo and Miss Aspiral. The question is, will Parliament share that opinion? I suppose we shall find out, soon enough."

Howard nodded before posing a another query. "What does Queen Calida think about this scenario?"

Calida Metargo

People once again took their seats in the room. That was good, the meeting had officially has started again. Now all everyone had to was make sure it didn't go up in flames.
President Anderson called for Marcus Pericles to speak first and the man stood up from his chair, "I must say, I feel Chieftain Nedilo has a point. This war did escalate dramatically. It will not be easy to convince the Council to agree to this union. As for what I think on this, I will have to give it some more thought when I head back to Mysticara."
Once he sat back down, Saul was chosen to speak next, "Prime Minister Lopez is a proud man.

Calida nodded slowly, thinking about what both men had just said. The union did seem like the best option, it would be a win-win situation for both sides, and hopefully they'd remain at peace. But convincing the Parliament of Metargo and the Council of Mysticara would be a whole other matter.

"What does Queen Calida think about this scenario?"
Calida was surprised to see President Anderson looking at her. He was asking for her opinion on this? What could she say that others hadn't already?

Calida nodded and stood up, "I think the union is a wonderful idea and the right decision to make. However, I do agree that it will be difficult to have Prime Minister Lopez share those thoughts and agree with the proposition. Nevertheless, it is the Parliament who must decide whether or not they agree, and I can only hope that they do."

Oriana tilted her head to the side and listened. 'The hormonal apes are agreeing with me??? Now that's a pleasant surprise...' Oriana listened to each opinion the thought of peace made her smile gently. "I agree with Queen Calida... The Parliament will pause an issue but as well as them we must convince the military of each side as well... There are many divisions of military and should even one of them become displeased and act against the wishes of others it could cause a large falling out with any plans of peace... As such I wish to hear the opinions of the military as well." Oriana's predatory eyes looked over the room like an animal trying to decide which prey would offer the most bounty if cut into. Many people diverted there gaze from Oriana's gaze but Oriana had no intention of singling anyone out... But that didn't mean she could not enjoy the antics they did in order to avoid her.

Zechariah glanced in Azalea's direction with a soft grin. "It should not be too long before we can behave like a real couple. Tensions between Benjlakk and Metargo don't usually last for more than a few years." He glanced back at the tree with the birds while he spoke, his grin somewhat faltering at the thought of the pattern. "It's sort of always the same story: Every century or so, someone leads an invasion upon us due to Fertaninn's surplus of crops, the invasion force is defeated, and a treaty is signed to try to remove the shortage problems of the time. After that, it's usually a few years before things cool down."

----

Aaron felt May's hand on his arma nd blushed. This turn, his face was redder than usual whenever May touched him. He kept calm, though, while he shrugged. "I have no idea. It really depends on how long those politicians and such keep at it. I'll bet there has been some sort of child-like argument, at this point. At any rate, we should stick close to this area and keep an eye open for any assassins."

Kyle expressed every hint of disappointment. "Ah, man! that's no fun!"

----

Benjamin nodded. "Yep. Everything is freshly baked, and they do a great job at making what they do. Come on, let's go inside."

The head baker welcomed the two and made small chatter before asking what they would like. Benjamin ordered a croissant and a cup of vanilla latte. He then glanced in Clarrissa's direction. "Well, see anything you like?"

----

Gracchus listened to both Oriana and Sandra. They both seemed to have a point. When President Anderson motioned for him to speak, next, the elf rose to share his opinion. "Well, I cannot speak for all the Tribal Forces, as they are mainly under the control of their chieftains, making coordination with one another a necessity. This is actually the first time a Head Councilor has been given as much authority over some aspects of the Mysticaran Tribal Forces as Marcus Pericles was. However, I can speak for most of my troops in the Natrulkra Tribal Force. Yes, we fought because many of us believed it was necessary to preserve the natural balance in Myrstarkia, yet we witnessed our efforts having the opposite effect. Admiral Lionel of the Benjlakki Navy is not joking when she says everything and everyone felt the effects of the war. People are abandoning their homelands, creatures of the land, air, and sea are on the brink of extinction, desolation is spreading, and individuals everywhere are suffering for it all. Even Feliniri, an out-of-the way subcontinent of a nation, is being torn from within by the conflict. Unless both sides lower their arms soon, Angels of the Deity help us as we realize how much everyone truly lost to the entire scenario."

Gracchus said what he had to, so he sat down to await the results of his brief speech. Although, his ears being so great at hearing, he had a hunch from what little he heard from Malinha and Leonardo's conversation that Prince Leonardo might dismiss the idea of a union or the lowering of arms.

President Anderson nodded before motioning for Leonardo. "Since you are a leader within the Metargo Military, what is your opinion on this, Prince Leonardo?"

----

Agathe blushed a little when she heard Cain ask if she wanted to come with him for a bite to eat somewhere. Is he... asking me out on a date? Me, a Mysticaran, when he could be asking out a Metargo girl without any trouble? Why would he want to spend time with me? She hesitated for a moment, but then nodded with a soft smile. "Sure. I walked past a bakery just outside of Diplomacy Square which makes everything from scratch. I hear that same bakery also makes some great deli sandwiches, whatever they are. Follow me."

Along the way, when she and Cain reached a less crowded area right next to a gate, she noticed Zechariah and Azaalea sitting on a bench together. She immediately noticed both of them, making a note to tell Malinha that it was Zechariah Malachi that was in a relationship with the Metargo Princess. I don't know why my Chieftain thinks their relationship an affair, since they are not even married or cheating on anyone. The only reason that couple would be hiding their relationship would be because of the current tensions between Metargo and Benjlakk from the Benjlakki region of Fertaninn being invaded a couple years ago.

Once at the bakery, Agathe saw Zechriah's brother, Benjamin Malachi, with a white-haired woman and already ordering something from the baker. The Mysticaran woman looked towards Cain with her soft smile. "I guess we can look at what this place has on the menu while we wait. I hear they make some great coffee, as well."
