Aphula

Aphula is a nation whose whole northern region is a tundra filled with wildlife largely untouched by civilization. To the south, you'd come across seemingly endless plains and forests with small towns lightly dotting the terrain. In fact, most of the population is along the coastline, where the cities generally contain 5.7 million people or more.

Fishing and tourism are two of the main factors which keep the Aphulan Union's economy from falling apart. Of course, there are regulations on how much of certain kinds of fish can be caught yearly, so to ensure they do not go extinct. Tourism has even more rules, since the natural habitat is filled with wildlife not yet used to sentient beings coming to their homes.

As for the politics, the arena for it is mostly run by two political parties: the Brotherhood of Freedom (BoF) and the Stability League (SL). The BoF is , in some ways, conservative, specifically when it comes to economics. They believe in the economy mostly regulating itself, whereas the SL thinks it best that the government use its legislation and policies to keep the economy from going down under from monopolies, environmental damage, jobs shipped overseas, etc. The Stability League is, to a degree, liberal in regards to the economy.

The parts of politics not concerning the economy, however, are debated on a more personal level, since political parties normally do not have an official stance on such topics as abortion, same-sex marriage, immigration, foreign policy, etc.

Slowly, however, the smaller parties are seizing the opportunity set by these unofficial stances to gain a foothold in the political spectrum, trying to gain more supporters this way.

As far as foreign policy goes, Aphula has largely stayed out of wars, since their military strength is nowhere near that of either Benjlakk, Metargo, or Mysticara.
