Setting

It is pretty much set up a lot like the United States: three branches of government balancing each other out, a constitution dictating the roles of each branch, a bill of rights, and all that jazz. A major difference is that it is not just two parties with a large hold of the power. It is also environmentally friendly; renewable energy sources are the dominant method of electricity in Benjlakk.

The eastern region, Fertaninn, is a paradise for farmers, agricultural workers, and biological researchers. This is also where many of the great solar technicians can be found. People often move to this region to escape the fuss of politics and the like due to the relatively untouched wildlife and plant life. This region includes Benjlakk's capital, the District of Justicra, where Congress, the President, the Supreme Court, and several headquarters to other important parts of the federal government reside.

Within the District of Justicra is a vibrant mix of cultures, along with a hub for philosophy and debate. Bakeries, restaurants, prestigious colleges, and the famous Justicra Library (comparable to the Library of Congress in our world), make this city home. Among other important cites is Diplomacy Square, where guests from foreign countries are entertained and citizens from all over Benjlakk, no matter their standing, come to both entertain and be entertained. The District of Justicra is where the cultures within the country and around the world mix the most, which is obvious in the food, architecture, and other aspects of life there.

Fertaninn, Benjlakk's eastern region, contains wildlife and plant life relatively untouched by civilization, making this place a haven and paradise for people looking for an escape from most of the fuss that comes with politics. Many farmers, agricultural workers, biologists, and solar technicians call Fertaninn home. This is where Benjlakk's capital, the District of Justicra, is located. Here, the story begins.

Zechariah just put on his khaki, ceremonial military uniform for this day. It was the day of the conference to determine whether Benjlakk were to be involved in the war between Metargo and Mysticara. At the moment, Benjlakk was neutral, and the young sergeant doubted that would change. He then remembered the communication disk on his desk, which he picked up and began recording a voice message on it:

My dear Azalea,

Today is a big day for Benjlakk. Diplomacy Square is going to be packed with guests from around the world, as well as people from all over Benjlakk. While the festivities go on, a conference is going to be held on whom Benjlakk will side with, if at all. All the while, I am going to be out on patrol and stuff like that with the rest of my platoon of mech pilots. I hope the war is not out of hand where you live, knowing what has went on, so far.

Were it possible, right now, I would have loved to have brought you here, to Fertaninn, the most peaceful region in Benjlakk. There are plains and forests here which are relatively unspoiled by civilization. It is peaceful, an ideal place to live in if you want to avoid the fuss of politics and stuff of that nature. Well, it is close to time to patrol Diplomacy Square, so I should get going, now.

Yours forever and always,
Zechariah

Just then, as Zechariah sent the message, his older borther, Benjamin, whom was wearing a green uniform, knocked on the door and asked, "Hey, Zech! Who you calling?"

The Eagle of Mercy grinned and rolled his eyes. "Oh, it was someone I met at the Solar Tech Convention in Southeastern Fertaninn."

"Well, let's get going. The Diplomacy Square Festival is about to start, and we need to be there to keep any fights from happening!"

Zech laughed. "I know."

With that, he prepared his two laser pistols, setting them to stun before placing them in his holsters. The two brothers met up with the rest of the Brown Wing Team. Zechariah said to them, "Okay, As you all know, this is an event which will contain tons of people from many different places. Be on the lookout for anyone who winds up hostile towards each other and either escort them out or arrest them if the hostilities turn into a fight. That could happen, anywhere, anytime, especially with the war outside our borders. You all know what to do. Move out."

With members of the Brown Wing Team at other locations, the brothers chose to patrol a quieter spot of Diplomacy Square. So far, no fight broke out, yet they could never be too cautious. several moments passed before a familiar face, and an angry one, at that, appeared right at the area's entrance to diplomacy Square. It was Aaron Lextu, the Metargo soldier whom Zechariah fought during the previous war that occurred a couple years back. With Aaron were May and Kyle, Kyle behaving in a somewhat jolly mood due to the possibility of being able to party some.

Kyle spoke, first. "Hey, Aaron! Look at that! The Malachi Brothers! Kind of cool to see 'em in person, eh, buddy?"

Aaron gritted his teeth. "Hush, Private Scipio! We're here to escort the Princess, not for the party!" The leader of the Lion Team glanced back at Zechariah and posed the query, "I guess you're gonna gloat, now, over the several times you beat me?"

Aaron's words set Zechariah's teeth grinding. How dare that man treat war or combat like it was some game! "There's nothing to discuss with you, Aaron, so don't pretend there is!"

Aaron merely crossed his arms across his chest with, "Fine by me!"

Kyle laughed a little. "Looks like you've been told off, sergeant!"

"Whatever..." Aaron looked around and finally spotted the Princess coming their way to the entrance. "Good morning, your highness. It looks like you get to meet the famous Malachi Brothers early. One of them is Benjamin Malachi and the other is the so-called 'Eagle of Mercy', Zechariah Malachi."

It was when Aaron stepped to the side that Zechariah noticed the woman Aaron spoke to. Just the sight of her changed Zechariah's mood from angry to shocked, which showed in his eyes and facial expressions. He quite literally froze where he was. "Aza?"

Benjamin gave a confused look, "Zech, what's wrong? Is it really that big of a surprise she'd be here? Did you see her in person, before, or something?"

-----

Elsewhere, Saul, Calida, and Leonardo were making their way to the conference building where the diplomatic matters were to take place. Saul held Calida's hand while he mentioned some things required to know beforehand. "Now, Leo, we must be on our best behavior in front of the President of Benjlakk. Even one sign of disrespect towards anyone in the room could be used against us. In order to gain the Benjlakki people's approval, we cannot do anything they will frown upon. We are already in quite a pickle with how many towns and villages you burned to the ground, so far. We need to break the stalemate, and cannot afford to mess this up."

-----

Over at the refreshment section of Diplomacy Square, Gracchus and the rest of the Air and Ground Party from the Natrulkra Tribal Force were enjoying some coffee and/or wine. Gracchus personally enjoyed the friendly vibe of the place the most. The different cultures and people mixed into one intrigued him, as he was always curious. Granted, he knew he could not stay at that spot of Diplomacy Square for too long, so he told Isaac and Elisabeth. "I better head over to the conference building to be at the Chieftain's side, so no funny business while I'm gone, especially you, Isaac. Don't. Kill. Anyone. This isn't like Mysticara, where you could challenge somebody to a duel, you quite literally cannot kill a living person here in Benjlakk. If you do that, we'll have the Benjlakki Republic as an enemy before the conference even begins. That being said, don't bother hurting anyone while we're here."

The elf leader of the Air and Ground Party said what he had to and walked on over to the Chieftain, Malinha Nedilo, and escorted her. He was one of few people who knew of her spy network. "I don't know what you hope to achieve by having spies in Benjlakk, but you best hope they don't find out there are any in their country, as that will be construed as a violation of their neutrality."

Along the way, Gracchus noticed one of the Benjlakki Diplomats, Oriana Aspiral, heading the same direction. Wow! She's beautiful! He could not help but smile at the blue-haired woman, yet did not glance in her direction long, since staring was rude. He quickly recovered and had his eyes forward, again.

"Okay!" Replied Elisabeth cheerfully to her elf captain's orders. "So, Isaac was it?" Elisabeth said, walking forward and turning to him. She has only been in the outfit for a few days. She only just got her weapon, the axe gleaming as it was hanging from her side, the magical rune etched into it glowing dimly. She thought it would be best to find a friend or two among her squad. Not many, though. She couldn't remember why... Something about death, and avoiding pain, or something like that. "I heard you were a shapshifter, is it true? That'd be so cool!" She said. She always thought it would be awesome to change into something else, like a owl. An owl would be pretty awesome, sitting there at night, hearing something moving, flying down for the kill... "So, what is it that you shapshift into?" Elisabeth asked, gulping down her coffee.

Isaac was more in a good mood today then any other day. "im not promising anything" he said holding his hands up and shaking his head. a photo of his family and friends was tucked neatly in his pocket and his necklace fell loosely around his neck. even though he knew he could control his killing his best friend Matt had always told him not to control it. so that was exactly what he did. he still respected Gracchus. of course that was because he was a wolf and loyal to his caretakers and close friend. just as a girl spoke his name he shot his head towards her. "um yea." he said. he tilted his head in a dog sort of way. "shapeshift?" he repeated to himself. "not really but i guess so" he said tapping his pocket which held many knives. "and im a werewolf" he said proudly.

Zechariah watched for a another moment or so, with Aaron cocking his head in a combination of confusion and annoyance. Kyle, in the meantime, already begun to have silent fantasies about what Zech and Aza might do in bed with each other if they chose to. Benjamin gave a stern look which demanded an explanation from his little brother.

Eventually, Zech noticed his older brother's glare and sighed as he glanced downwards. "Yes, we have met, before. It was at a solar tech convention in southeastern Fertaninn." He glanced upwards at his brother. "I did not even tell her I was a member of the Malachi family, or that I was the 'Eagle of Mercy'. I did not want her to focus on that. I wanted her to focus on the real me, which is not some legend or anything like that. I'm not just a skilled soldier with a reputation." Glaring at Aaron, he added, "And there is definitely more to me than just my achievements on the battlefield, or anything else the press focuses on. I don't even consider what I'll I did during the Metargo invasion upon Benjlakk, two years ago, to be anything honorable. I'm not someone who enjoys anything about combat." Zechariah glanced downwards, once more. "I'm just... Zechariah. I don't want to be treated like some legend or anything of the sort."

Benjamin sighed in a combination of pity and other feelings. "I know what you mean, Zech. It really stinks when people think what you are known for is all you are." The older Malachi brother next noticed Catrina behind her. He had this brother mentality towards her, considering the redhead like a little sister. "Hey, Catrina, you all right?"

Kyle finally got out of his fantasy world to register what he did hear from Zecahriah, specifically the last part. Kyle then nodded and said, "That's deep, man."

Aaron huffed in anger. To him, it did not change the fact his own reputation went down the drain. On the other hand, if what Zech said was true, then what happened was not to humiliate him, after all. Aaron became confused internally, yet never showed it on the outside. They only saw his cold exterior.

------

Saul did not say a word after his wife gave their son an explanation. He realized he has not been much of a father. Calling him 'Leo' was his way of trying to make it up to him with whatever time there was. Yet, he was unsure of how to begin. Calida was always better with the social matters.

------

Gracchus saw Oriana glaring daggers at an older man and was going to help her when Malinha already did that. Either way, he was glad a fight was avoided. "Oriana, huh? That's a nice name. I'm Gracchus, and this woman here is the Chieftain of Natrulkra, Malinha Nedilo." He used his magic to bring out ingredients and quickly make a mocha for the blue-haired diplomat. "Here, have a mocha."

Leonardo listened intently as the blue headed woman spoke. She was an amusing woman that much was sure. Connecting the dots, she was most likely a diplomat, but she didn't seem to be like many diplomats he had met before. From the bright clothing, the large unguarded smile, and finally to the... well, refreshingly honest nature. Oriana Aspiral. Leonardo committed the name to memory, well, it was not as if he had a choice. He remembered everything no matter what from names, to faces, to small details he glimpsed over. It was his power and his curse.

"Your faith in me is inspiring." Leonardo said smoothly, hiding his annoyance with his father with years of practice. He was not a child, nor was he a brash fool who went around pointing out peoples flaws, but he felt his patience with his father wearing thin. Every five minutes it seemed like he was being told of how he couldn't do this or should do that. How they were better then him at this or how he should feel ashamed for that. Perhaps he should stop thinking for himself and just allow his father to do that for him? Might make him sleep better at night.

It seemed that the meeting was finally going to get underway as his parents went to find their seats on the 'Metargo' side and the elf went to sit on their own side. He assumed the dark haired woman would be joining him shortly. Leonardo stopped by Oriana and gave her a soft smile and offered his left arm. Leonardo had noticed that she had been holding her arm, and on closer inspection it seemed her arm was a fake, so he offered his arm that would allow her to grip it with her human arm, "Forgive me if I seem forward." Leonardo said softly before leaning and whispering, his arm still held up, "But you see my, oh so, dear father has spent the last hour or so talking my ear off about how I should be on my best behavior and what I should or should not do, and it seems the prospect of me talking to you terrifies him, so allow me the honor of making him squirm for just a little while. It is a sons duty to worry his father is it not?" He said flashing a mischievous smile.

Azalea messed with her braid, listening to what Zech was saying. At the moment she was still trying to figure out what exactly was happening right now. Everything was all happening so fast and she didn't know what to say or what to do when Zech started talking about he wanted her to see the real him not just some 'Eagle of Mercy' which she understood because she didn't want him to see her just as a princess. "Wow," She whispered mostly to herself. Slowly her eyes glanced around at everyone, stopping at Aaron who had this amazingly cold exterior even after Zechariah had said that. Sighing softly she looked at Zechariah again, "Could we speak? You know not in front of like this crowd of people?" She asked curiously then added, "not that I don't like you guys its just I would like to speak to him in private." Without even waiting she walked over to him, grabbing his wrist and tugging him away from the crowd.

Azalea held his wrist until they were out of ear shot of them so no one but the people who would pass them could hear what she was saying to him. "That was really deep," She said with a small smile. Messing with her laced sleeve nervously she glanced from the sleeve to Zechariah and back. Her heart thudding again like before as though it would just break from her chest. Unsure of what to say she finally looked at him longer than a few seconds. "Sorry for pulling you away from your group, but um Aaron was kind of freaking me out. He just had this like cold expression on your face even after you said that. I like Aaron, he can be a jerk some times, but he isn't necessarily all that bad." She shook her head, realizing she was totally getting off topic. "I'm sorry, I'm really nervous if you can't tell. Your not going to like flip out on me just for being the princess of Metargo and not telling you at all, are you?" Azalea asked, searching for something more to say to him.

While Azalea and Zechariah talked Catrina looked at Benjamin, gripping his wrist, and acting as if she was younger than she really was. "What's going on? I am like completely lost because I have no idea what is going on. What is Zechariah doing with the princess of Metargo?" She questioned him. Some times she thought of Benjamin as her older brother because he seemed to actually care about her. He would often help her out since she is just a Private and really has no idea what to do with a gun or anything that has to do with shooting it at some one or something. It's really not one of her strong points.

Finally May was thinking about going out for just one night without even really acting like she was a solider whom had no problem killing someone. She glanced over at Kyle, nudging him with her shoulder before walking over to Aaron's side and slinging her arm around his neck. "Whatcha thinking about? Or are you not thinking about anything because if so then you should lighten up a bit dear." She said with a small grin. She loved to mess with Aaron and a lot of the time she didn't really care if he got mad at her or not because she was kind of use to him being well a jerk. By this time she was kind of standing on her tippy toes due to the fact that he was pretty much almost a foot taller than she was and this was the only thing she could think of to get near his height without kneeling on a chair.

Ayoto noticed the teeth, claws, and all sorts of things that would tear a normal human being to pieces, "Well. That's definitely a feat. Must be something fun. Having the ability to change into three different basically bodies, yet, staying the same." she said in a nice, yet very nervous tone as she was bumped into, "I still hate crowds... Don't I?" she thought to herself as the crowd pushed past, pressing the coat of her unifourm onto her shoulders and back and needless to say, it wasn't pleasant. It was coarse and hot and it was not fun to have pressing against her. Yet, she brushed the thought off and looked at the two, "By the way, My name is Ayoto Miryle." she siad smiling, "May I ask of your names?" she said smiling lightly still.

Azalea smiled a bright, beautiful smile as she gently hugged Zechariah. Slowly she pulled away from him, holding one of his hand she sighed softly and began to hope that the conference would take quite a while. She looked at him, smiling at him then gently tugged on his hand. "Okay so where do you plan on us going then?" She asked curiously, lifting a single perfectly shaped eyebrow.

After telling Kyle that she wanted just anything with chocolate in or nothing that had a ton of alcohol in it she turned to Aaron, sighing softly. Also after saying where they were going to meet up with she ran a hand through her hair. "Well, want to lead the way Aaron? You seem to know this area better than I do." She said, shrugging once. She had only been here once before, maybe twice, but still she hasn't been here to many times and has no idea which way to take especially since there are a lot of people walking around.

Catrina stayed close to Benjamin, following near him as he led the patrol. She ran a hand through her hair, glancing down at her feet momentarily because her clumsy self decided that right about now near a bunch of people was the best time to trip. She grumbled as she tried to regain her foot, by this time she had lifted her head and glanced in the direction that Benjamin was looking. Noticing the girl who looked like she was completely lost and who looked like she had not been here before. She noted how Benjamin quickly looked away and continued walking. Speeding up slightly to catch up with him her eyes scanned over him then smiled a little. Shaking her head once she decided to leave it how it was so she fell back a little, though, made sure he was still within eyesight.

When she glanced over her shoulder because she heard a few people who were walking, say something angrily under their breath. She caught that same snowy white hair girl, lightly pushing her way through the crowd of people. Clarissa pushed lightly through people after she had caught the eye of a single solider who he thought could help her out a little. She smiled gently at Catrina as she passed by her and gently put her hand on Benjamin's shoulder. When her hand connected with his shoulder she sighed softly, biting her lip, and hoping that he wouldn't totally snap at her. "Excuse me," She said politely, glancing over her should momentarily to make sure she wasn't about to totally knock someone over. She noticed Catrina who had completely stopped and was now looking at Clarissa with this confused face.

The Chieftain only sat stroking her demon while the circus came to town all around her. The Red Prince was asked to speak, and after flirting with a diplomat, proceeded to defend his tactics. Malinha, had she not been a patient person, would have challenged him to a duel and killed him. She knew the strategy to winning an alliance was patient and being the better negotiator. Fink had confirmed that he held in firm belief that the prince meant what he had said, which didn't surprise her in the slightest.

When the soldier's began to voice their own opinions on the war, she felt it was a silly distraction. She wanted to use the whole 'appealing to emotion' argument, but knew it was a useless tactic in this setting, and hearing from those men confirmed it to her. Fink was excited at the large array of hatred coming from most of the room. He sat in her lap, his fur began to stand on end, and she guessed he was close to running, so she held him tighter and whispered to him, "Be soft, Fink. We can not afford that happening here." And this calmed him slightly. The thing that no one, not even the Head Counselor knew was how destructive Fink could be with her. It was one of the reason she never had a focus to use magic, the demon was her focus, and if used properly, could be more destructive than most bombs. But she had managed to calm him.

She bowed her head when the Head Counselor was asked to rebut. He was a very important person, and he had won more battled than she dared to think. He had also been one of the few people who supported her stance in the war when she became a Chieftain, and was thankful for the insight her spies gave her. She nodded slightly as he spoke, but knew that her tactic would be a peaceful one, as is her nature.

When the President had addressed her, she was surprised a tad. She knew she would most likely speak, but the rate that he asked her was quick. She simply nodded to him as she walked to the center stage were she would address the crowd, her fox following her footsteps and looking around at everyone as she began to speak.

"Dear President Anderson, and everyone else who lines this room, while I am grateful for the opportunity to speak on my country's behalf, it saddens me that I must do so." She spoke in a soft, but firm voice, her usual voice. "This war that my country finds itself embroiled in has left my people, as well as the ones from Metargo, with a deepened hatred for the other, and only wishes to see more blood spilled until none are left standing. And while this may be an effective way to end conflict, as previously pointed out, It is not the best way to end this conflict."

"I wish to give a little information to the council today on how people of Mysticara battle, especially in my tribe. We fight smartly, bravely, and ruthlessly, but we are always lead by our Chieftain of the tribe. This responsibility would fall on me now, as I have inherited the title from my father when he was killed by the Red Prince Leonardo. But I tell you here truthfully that I have never, nor do I wish to, enter battle. I have not once joined my people, and instead they have been lead by Gracchus Occi, who sits beside me." She said, and used her hand to softly point to him, before returning them together in front of her stomach. "Some have said I do this because I fear battle, but this is not so. I would relish the idea of destroying my enemies who murder my people without hesitation, but I stay out because I wish to express my wish for peace.

"The difference between Mysticara and Metargo are numerable to the point of excessive. However, for all of the differences, one thing is true for both. Neither of there leaders wish to send their people to die for purposes that mean nothing to them. And while the common people, as seen by a member of the Metargo military, prove to be ignorant to the greater peace, and use hatful language, everyone here today knows how much damage will be done by continuing this war. Deaths in the millions, entire cites, villages, and towns destroyed. This is a price that is far too high for a bad peace to exist."

She then turned to the President, as she had been trying to move around and look at everyone, and looked at him with soft eyes. "That is why today I, Chieftain Malinha of the Natrulkra Tribe, wish to call upon the government and people of Benjlakk to not join this war, but rather act as a mediator for Metargo and Mysticara, and help a peace grow between these countries. Even though I am but one of many Chieftains, I was called here to join my leader because of my tribe's strength. I am willing to pay any price to see a long standing peace run between the nations and for relations to improve," She then turned briefly over to Leonardo, and then returned to talking, "But I will warn this. Should a peace not be reached, and this war continue, I will join in this fight, and I will make sure that no matter the damages done by the Red Prince, the damages done to his people will be returned ten fold."

She then bowed to President Anderson, before taking her seat again beside her friend. 'I pray that they listen.' She thought, and then Fink told her, 'You did a good job Linha, it is out of your hands now, just be at peace now.'

Azalea held onto him gently and debated if going to the bakery was a good idea or not. Finally after a few seconds of debating she nodded in agreement. "I like that idea, it seems like it is going to be good." She said softly then sighed softly. She hated that they had to keep their relationship a secret, but she knew there were reasons that they couldn't be seen as a couple. She looked down, a little upset about what she had just thought about. Some times she hated being a Princess because she couldn't really do exactly what she wanted. Sighing softly she looked at Zechariah with a small smile.

May blushed lightly while she held Aaron's hand as he lead her to where they were supposed to meet up with Kyle at after he got their refreshments. Upon seeing the game she smirked a little, looking over at Aaron. She listened to how they play the game and she nodded slowly as she took all of the information in. "Do I want to have a go?" She asked with a small grin. "Of course I do!" She giggled, rolling her eyes at him. She gently pushed him with her open hand and gently bit her lip. Releasing her lip she finally said, "I'm totally going to beat you at this game." She slowly slipped her hand from his before skipping towards and into the building where the game was.

Clarissa giggled softly, rolling her eyes at him as she saw his face turn three different shades of red. "Oh nothing really. I just saw you looking at me and I was also thinking you could help me out with something that I need help with." She said to him with a small smile as she looked him over. Catrina stopped near them, raising a curious eyebrow at them. Weird, she thought when she saw how red Benjamin's face was. She shook her head then just started to walk off without him and continued their patrol without him while he talked to Clarissa.

Aza had followed close to him all the way to the bakery then she slowed down so that he left a few feet between them. Upon entering the bakery the instant aroma of baked goods hit her and an instant smile grew on her face. She inhaled the aroma deeply. Following Zechariah over to the counter she looked at all the options of what she could get. She bit her lip gently, nibbling on it a bit as she looked at all of the possible things she could get. Everything looked so freaking delicious! She was having a hard time choosing. Finally after a few minutes of debating she looked at the baker and smiled gently while straightening up a bit. "I'll have a Banana Muffin." She told him as she pushed her braid over her shoulder. Accidentally without thinking about it she reach for Zechariah's hand, but quickly yanked her hand back when she realized what she was doing.

May giggled, picking up a fake pistol and aiming. She wasn't perfect, but she knew she was a really good shooter when it came to using a pistol. Holding it up she aimed and fired, going for the bullseye which she hit several times. She couldn't remember how many times though, just that she had suddenly been determined to get a better score than Aaron at least. She didn't care about winning even though the competitive side of her wanted first place as long as she beat Aaron that would be good enough for her.

Clarissa sighed softly, realizing she had probably confused him. "I'm sorry," She said softly. "That was probably really confusing. Here lets start with this," She paused, thinking for a moment. "I really need your help right now. Your a solider right? You know your way around here right?" She asked, let out a soft, long breath. You could tell she was starting to stress out for a reason that was unknown to human beings.

Catrina stopped, turning in the direction of who was speaking. Her eyes landed on the person who was speaking. She glanced down at her outfit, oh yeah real attractive her in her uniform turns every man on. She rolled her eyes at Kyle, pushing a strand of her red hair over her shoulder. Even though she was acting like she didn't care you could tell by the blush slowly showing up that she had never had that happen before. She shook her head at him, "Can I help you?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

He was kind of nervous himself. he was never used to not killing or hurting something for this long. he needed something to hurt. the cup that he had in his hand broke and the liquid spilled onto the floor luckily missing his shoes. he looked at the glass stuck into his hands and simply brushed his off on his pants. "how greatt" he muttered. his cut skin sewed back together.

Leonardo enjoyed the view, not of the land or buildings, but of the people. He considered Metargo to have grander and greater cities and Mysticara to have far more beautiful land and scenary, but it was amusing to see the people of Benjlakk travel from place to place. Where did they have to go? Why where they going? When he was younger; he would make a game out of it. Try to imagine where they were going and for what reason. Sometimes it was something small like they were going to work or to pick up a gift, other times they were more complex such as a young woman going to meet her secret lover because her husband was doing this or that.

A pudgy woman with a band of children around her waved to the building, and Leonardo leaned forward to see what she was waving at, but didn't manage to see anything besides numerous windows. It looked like the children were saying something, but he wasn't able to make out any of it. A shame because they looked incredibly excited which he found odd given the location. Perhaps they were waiting for someone, but who would have such a large family?

Soft footsteps caught his attention as Leonardo leaned back and looked to see who else had the same idea as him, and his back stiffened at the sight. Malinha Nedilo. She looked preoccupied with the surroundings as he had been just moments ago, the strange black fox was still tagging along behind her. It was to some shock that he realized she did not even realize he was there which was a little fortunate. If she had known he was there and came anyways; it would have made the situation even more tense, which seemed impossible.

So close, Leonardo could not miss the slight tensing of the shoulders, and he understood. She noticed he was there, but why didn't she leave? Then it clicked. Her own speech, but he doubted many people would force her to endure his presence. Forgiveness was a lie. People merely learned to put up with things, and if her plan worked; he would be one of those things in her life. An existence she suffered to allow. Her feelings on the matter were obvious in her refusal to look at him, but he did understand that he was staring, and so tried to find something else to look at. Anything.

But it was a vain hope. The situation was so tense; he felt he could cut it with a knife. The silence was suffocating, and that in itself was humorous. Leonardo was always fond of peaceful silences and was usually content with merely sitting or standing next to people in silence, yet this time the silence was killing him, yet Leonardo could not help but think that even this suffocating silence was better then the alternative. Trying to make pleasantries neither truly felt and having to stare into those unfathomable deep eyes that peered into his soul.

Finally his green eyes rested on the black fox that lay around her leg, and the, almost, adorable way it stuck its paw out to try and touch him. Leonardo was not a fool and knew it was a familiar of some type as he had seen other Mysticarans use them, but the fox was as beautiful as it was strange. He had a strong desire to hold his hand out to allow the fox to become acquainted with him, but understood that doing so could offend her.

Steeling his resolve, her turned his head to, once more, attempt to examine the crowds. He would simply have to endure the silence as he was sure it was far worse for her. If he stood next to the person who killed his family, could he preach peace and forgiveness? No, he was far to harsh for such a thing. He would want to tear everything they loved away and, even then, he would not allow them to die. For living alone was afar worse fate then the embrace of death. Yes, Leonardo understood that even as a child. He was not a good man which is why he had to be a perfect prince.

Malinha watched as Leonardo struggled to find a response to her story of her Heroine and the Prince. She loved it, seeing her enemy falter like that, but she had to admit she loved to see him try and not blush. Fink had decided that he personally liked the prince, which showed her that she had some type of feeling for him. Positive or negative, she wasn't too sure.

"I am glad I you think I would be a suitable monster prince. Flattered. And while I do not agree with you on many things we speak about, and I desire to continue this conversation; I am afraid we may have to cut it short. This is probably not the best place for such things. Perhaps when this diplomatic meeting is over; we can continue this discussion." He said to her, at which she felt a little blown back. Her enemy wanted to continue to talk to her. Why was that? To get her alone to kill, or maybe he had slightly less evil intensions.

Her mind raced to his sister, Princess Avalea. She was having an affair with a solider of Benjlakk. That's right, no one was above her network. She had seen the entire life of these people play out, unaware of how closely she knew them. Her spies had even told her what color undergarments they were wearing to the meeting today, under the order that ,"Nothing is too small of a bit of information to not tell me." If she remembered correctly, Prince Leonardo had on red and yellow ones, some odd shrine to his country or whatever. If she played him, he could be blushing to his death, but it would also give her up in her information.

"You wish to speak to me after this meeting has ended?" She asked inquisitively, not sincere, but faked well. "If I were an paranoid woman, I would think you ask because you wish to kill me in an alley. If I was a love, I would think this is a declaration of affection. I am unsure how to read this, but I agree that we may meet again, and hopefully not on the battle field." She then stood straight, and then looked at him, "I believe that it is almost time for the meeting to start again. See you later, Leonardo." She then winked at him. She wasn't above using her womanhood to get a peace, she had said at any cost. She then snapped her fingers, which aroused Fink to get up and get by her side, and she began to walk back into the meeting room.

Nine hours before present time......

Cain woke up early today. His eyes crept open and gazed at the darkness that surrounded him as he reached for a switch. He groaned as he stood up and took his back away from the comfort of the wall. He never did need a watch. Years of training and continuous missions gave him the ability to wake up whenever he saw fit. He was already dressed as he walked inside the cave. Today was the day. The day of the big meeting between representatives from each nation. The details of why weren't of much concern to him. All he had to do was to make sure the royalty was safe. He grabbed his communicator and called his father.

"Hello." The familiar raspy voice answered.
"I'm in route to Benjlakki. Confirm my positions." He gave a cold tone in return.
"Yes. Five points. We'll go by the alphabet. Alpha Bravo are in the east. Charlie Delta are to the west. Echo to the north."
"I'll take south."
"Remember the map?"
Click
He hung up. Of course he remembered the map. He studied the territory for years. He knew the District of Justicra like the back of his hand. He resented his fathers cry at being caring. He looked at his watch and sighed. Today would be a long day.

Present time.......

He wasn't tired. Nor could he say he was bored. The many people walking around kept him busy. He loved it when a good plan came together. Over the course of nine months he set up AI rifles around the locations fixed with camera's. The reason he took south was because that way he would have a clear look at the royal family of Metargo. At least where they were supposed to sit. To the naked eye he would look like a sniper set to go against the Metargo, but, in reality he was there to protect them. If he was caught he would escape and no one could trace him back to the Lion Team. He even wore his mask.
It was weird. He only felt normal with the mask on. Everything else felt fake.

Even with it on, he could see the prince from about five clicks away. (Kilometers) He seemed to be acting normal which meant everything was alright. So far. He had been sitting in that spot for more than five hours. His body was used to it though. He could even fall asleep without moving his position one inch if he felt the need. He was prepared to stay there a whole day as needed. He was The furthest point away from the meeting point. The AI systems were good, but he was better. Not to mention the fact that there were lots of obstacles in the way of the shot. Only a person like him could make a shot like that. He glanced up and watched as a bird landed on the railing of room he was in. It looked nice. So peaceful. The only thing going threw his mind was not wanting to have to shoot his weapon. Not because of the killing, but because the bird would go away. It would go away and never come back. Just like his brother.

Zechariah nodded occasionally to confirm he was listening. Metargo Capitag'hk, coming from Azalea's mouth, sounded like a nice city, yet the towers blocking the sky so much would take some getting used to. Shrugging, he answered her question with, "Nah, I can't think of anything specific." Finishing off his bagel, he thought on what to discuss, next. As he thought on it, he saw a pair of birds building a nest at a nearby tree. If only we could be like them and not worry about what other people think. The mere recollection on the reality of what both the Benjlakki and Metargo would say to them being together gave him a saddened frown. One of these days, Zechariah. Soon, it will be safe. It is just a matter of time. All this political stuff needs to fade away, first, is all.

------

Benjamin grinned a little. for some odd reason, he felt a lot calmer, less intense. Of course, he was a sucker for innocent-looking people, yet he felt even more so around this woman, and he could not place a finger on why. Nodding, Benjamin showed her around town, including some of the major sites, such as Justicra Library, where books on countless topics were found (even a ton of old newspapers and recordings).Last, but not least, the bakery next to Diplomacy Square. "My brother and I came here, once in a while, during our first time in this city for mech piloting training. Everything in this bakery is handmade."

------

Kyle looked behind him and saw Catrina walking away, which made him snap his fingers in disappointment. "Drat."

Aaron simply rolled his eyes. "You can't get your mind off of women, can you?"

"I try."

Aaron glanced over at a nearby clock. "Well, we may need to get going back to the gate we came through. I don't know when the conference will end, so we're better safe than sorry."

He led all both Kyle and May back to where they were at the gate to see Zechariah and Azalea on the bench together. At this point, Aaron's cold façade faded just by reflecting on what all Zechariah said. His face expressed subtle signs of regret at ever being so harsh towards the Eagle of Mercy, whom would prefer not to be preferred as such. Kyle was the first to notice.

"Hey, sergeant? You seem to be down, a little."

Aaron glanced in Kyle's direction. "What makes you say that?"

Kyle smirked. "Oh, come on! You hardly ever let that cold façade go away. What's eating you?"

"Nothing."

Shrugging, the perverted Private told him, "Okay, but if you ever want to talk about it, let us know."

-----

Agathe took a sip of iced, decaffeinated coffee, to refresh after having arrived at the District of Justicra. She had many things to attend to before arriving so late, such as reconfiguring the 9H-K Red Bolt via spells so that it could handle magic ammo and projectiles, plus give off a magic blade where plasma would be, since plasma is still a mystery to most Mysticarans. She felt Cam Broch has been dealt a bad hand and could use a friend. Fertaninn had quite a beauty of its own, she had to admit, with all the farms, bizarre windmills, communities which thrive on solar energy, and all sorts of natural wildlife and plantlife native only to Benjlakk. The towns were amazing, as well, with all the different arrays of buildings and gardens, plus the occasional fountains and pools. She loved it all.

Agathe decided to use a spell she developed which would allow her to see different sites of the city without having to move about. Frankly, she eventually spotted a Metargo soldier armed with a sniper rifle looking onwards toward a window in the Conference Hall, which gave her some concern. Who would risk the wrath of Benjlakk doing what she thought the man was doing? Then again, he could have been doing something else, yet she had no clue. At any rate, she was compelled to go see this man. Her teleportation worked just fine, her winding up behind the man without a sound. Granted, she wondered how much longer it would be before matters got out of hand, as she took a large enough risk teleporting behind him.

Hesitantly, she tapped him on the shoulder while shyly saying, "Hello? I-Is everything okay? I mean, Benjlakk doesn't want any violence, and they are strict about enforing their polices so... there's nothing to worry about, right?" Agathe took a few steps back at noticing the mask. It was one she was familiar with from reading a book on the Metargo military while bored. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

----

Saul smiled towards Calida ever so gently. Her response was not what he expected, given how she mistook part of what he said, yet he realized he should have worded it differently. At any rate, his wife was correct in that Leonardo should not be treated like a boy. Yet, it did nothing to ease his remorse, overall, at how he was not particularly fatherly towards their son. He hid that well with his closed-mouth grin as he waited for everyone to be seated so that President Anderson could give commence with the continuation of the meeting.

Cralyn would sit silently upon the top of a building overlooking the square and it's boundless inhabitants as they went about their festival. The lights and noise kept a cigarette clinging to his lips, held loosely between his middle and ring finger, snug and warm pressed to his knuckles and kept in place with the large joints of his fingers keeping it from moving, this was taken note of as the man gave a soft laugh, his focus undivided upon the details of the cigarette, his wrist would shift to look at the ashes building up at the end. His fingers would press to his cheek, his palm to the other as he deeply inhaled the smoke, letting out a deep breath. The crowd would bend and shake and he'd look only for those he was bound to. War was harsh, and so it was beyond him why there would be a festival to gather these people just before pitting them against one another.

He'd give a light shake of his head, absent mindedly smoking. Pressed is what he felt, confined and struggling, he'd never seen combat on the scale by which this war would be fought, but perhaps there weren't a man more ready in the whole of this damned city than him. Cralyn would observe, furrowing his eyebrows as the crowd changed form with a commotion, he'd loosen his fingers, shifting the butt forward before lightly flicking it away.

There'd be a small pop as his holster were undone, his grip tightening about the grip and giving a satisfying sound as the pistol were pulled. He'd shift, putting his weight forward as he nimbly dropped from the ledge, shifting to grip the edge of the roof before dropping..

Gracchus could not see Oriana or where she went, so he figured she went somewhere urgent or something. This left him disappointed, though he knew he still had to escort the Chieftain. Standing up and looking in her direction, he said, "well, there's no point staying in this building, now. We better pack up and get out of here to meet up with the Air and Ground Party. Most of them should be at the refreshment area of Diplomacy Square. Knowing Isaac, though, he may be somewhere away from that area, up to mischief or trouble or something. Hoefully, nobody got hurt while I was gone."

While escorting the Chieftain around Diplomacy Square, the elf thought about what Oriana said to him earlier. It stung, yet he expected it. Suddenly, a child pointed to him and said there was a cool 'wild man' nearby. Gracchus became curious and looked in the kid's direction, only to spot Oriana. This made him blush while he held his hands out to frantically say, "I wasn't following you, Oriana! Really, I wasn't! I am just escorting Chieftain Malinha!"

-----

Agathe gave a wide-eyed look towards Cain when he poked her. Listening to his words, she blushed when she was called radiant. She turned her head to the side, eyes closed, while shyly grinning. with her hand on her bottom lip. glancing back at him, her hands on the table, she told him. "I guess you're right. Benjlakk is known to be a mediator between countries. things will probably work for the better." She glanced around to see what Cain was referring to, her smile widening in pleasant surprise. "Oh, that's right! There are certainly a ton of people from across Myrstrarkia getting along! Even the Feliniri and Caninisians are doing quite well together here! Normally, their rivalry keeps them apart." Agathe place a finger at the side of her forehead while she glanced upwards. "Speaking of Caninisians, I wonder what Isaac is up to?" looking once again back at Cain, she told him with a smile. "He's like a little brother to me, a devious one at that." The woman giggled at the thought of the Caninisian sti9rring up some sort of trouble or mischief; it was very typical of him.

-----

Seaking of Isaac, a Feliniri Immigrant draftee in Brown Wing Team was patrolling an out of the way area of Diplomacy Square that consisted of trees and bushes. This tiger woman, Sarxas, decided it was safe to go on all fours and look around for anything to play with, her kitten mentality kicking in. A butterfly came by, so she pounced at it while cutely meowing and giggling. eventually, though, her eyes came upon a wolf which had the scent of sentience. Oh, crud... a Caninisian... Right when she thought she woke him up, she stood on her two feet while shouting, "I... I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to wake you up! I was just chasing a butterfly for a moment! I'm really sorry!" Her eyes became wide like a kitten's while she waited for the male Caninisian's response.

-----

Zechariah, Aaron, and Kyle were startled by the sound on feet landing on the concrete, quickly turning their eyes in the direction of the sound before Aaron sighed a breath of relief, the Sergeant of the Lion Team saying to May and Kyle, "It's just Private Alymer."

Kyle put away his pistol upon hearing it was Cralyn. "You should be more careful, buddy. We didn't know you were sitting on the roof of that building."

Zechariah sat back down with Azalea and hoped this Cralyn would not tell anyone of what he saw of the Eagle of Mercy and the Princess. Nothing naughty happened, but it would only take just one wrong witness of them together that for the secret of the relationship to spill out early. Hopefully, that would not be the case.

If cats could blush, it would not show. Sarxas noticed how hesitant Isaac was in his movements and wondered what was going on in his head. Stay calm. He hasn't made an advance. No problem, just don't scream. She kept her anxiety hidden by her soft smile. "Nice to meet you, Isaac." Spontaneous, isn't he? She made a mental to read up on Caninisian culture at a later time. For now, she focused on the conversation. "Well, uh, you wouldn't happen to like seafood, would you? I know a stall nearby which makes some great teriyaki salmon. The guy who runs it can also make some excellent teriyaki chicken, if you'd prefer something that over seafood. I mean, The District of Justicra is pretty close to towns along the coast, which means everything seafood around here is pretty fresh. Along the way to that stall, we can talk about what we like to do, and stuff."

Her eyes sort of glittered in excitement. "You up for it?"

Sarxas saw the polite smile and knew from his words that he would love it. She felt a little better. "Okay! Right this way!" Along the way, she told him. "I actually have an adoptive brother whom is a Caninisian. My parents took him in when he was found on a beach in Felinir, where we used to live before we moved here to Benjlakk." Her eyes turned a little sad. "As you can probably guess, our former neighbors back in the Feliniri States sometimes looked down upon the adoption happening in the first place due to the economic and athletic rivalry between Caninisia and Felinir. So, that is why my family immigrated to this country: to avoid all that fuss. Unfortunately, I did not spend long with my family while here in Benjlakk before I was drafted to repel an invasion upon the Benjlakki region of Fertaninn that was conducted by Metargo, two years ago. The invasion was stopped, but my selective service term is not exactly over, yet." Placing a hand behind her neck, she shrugged and stated, "But, that aside, Benjlakk's a pretty decent place to live in. Anyway, what about you? Did something happen for you to immigrate to Mysticara? I noticed you are wearing a Natrulkra Tribal Force uniform, so that's why I'm asking." Whatever he had to say next, she would nod in confirmation that she understood.

Once at the stall she mentioned, she ordered two teriyaki salmon meals, one for Isaac and one for herself. With that paid for, she found a table bench nearby for the two of them to sit at before sitting down next to him and pulling a plastic fork to use while pick up a piece of her salmon and brought it to her mouth, savoring the flavor as she slowly chewed and than swallowed. "Mmmm..." Turning to Isaac, she asked, "How are you liking yours?"

He'd not even known they were there, falling with bent knees to absorb the shock, rising from the crouch he'd look between the two a moment as they both gave him looks and nods. As the girl rolled his eyes he'd give a soft sarcastic laugh, disregarding the pair impassively, his own pistol wielded in a loose grip as he walked away, the other reaching up to rub at the light stubble of his chin. I hope they realize now isn't the time to be having petty love affairs, with war on the horizon.

Cralyn would roll his shoulders making his way through the crowd, an alert and yet calm, steady gaze persisting in his tired green eye and passing over all that moved about him. People would look cautiously at his mechanical lifeless gaze, the oddity not being enough to draw some of the women of the crowd away as they whispered, in the crowd his gun was hardly noticed if at all. It was never waved about or held up, just loosely swinging almost rhythmically with his silent but sure maneuvers, passing through the crowd as if it were nothing more that stationary obstacles in his path. A man with his drink was wide eyed in alarm as he appeared suddenly, his heart in a fit as he prepared for a collision, only for Cralyn to dip nimbly in a slant, using his heels to easily pivot about the man, his movement not slowed nor hindered.

As he neared the commotion, the attention was undivided, whispers and all, he wasn't quite sure of the situation-- but if someone needed guarding, it'd be much more comfortable than this. He saw three people in particular, and broke from the bulk of the crowd to head for the group.

After hearing whatever Azalea had to say, he did not even have time to respond when he suddenly received a message from a member of Brown Wing Team. Whatever it was had to be important. The voice message went as follows:

Zechariah, we have a problem! We just received two distress calls from two different locations at Hawk Street, on the southern side of town! They each claim people in military uniform are holding them hostage for secrets on the Benjlakki Armed Forces' military technology! I couldn't get anything else from the transmissions other than torture is going on as we speak! I've sent the coordinates to you while sending this message! We better get to those locations, and fast! Kenneth Nadab, out!

Zechariah glanced towards Azalea with a soft grin, though his eyes expressed a hint of sadness at the two of them having to go their separate ways, again. "I'll keep in touch, okay?" With that, he sprinted off while sending a message to every Brown Wing Team Member about the scenario, ordering everyone to set their weapons to stun.

With that out of the way, Zechariah had to send a distress call to one of the military headquarters in town. The nearest to the scenes was the Naval Headquarters. Knowing that, he set an announcement on the facility's speakers which went as follows:

Naval Headquarters, this is Zechariah Malachi, from Brown Wing Team! We received two distress calls from two different locations on Hawk Street that cvilians are being held hostage in abandoned buildings, the coordinates indicated on the map! All personnel available are requested to assist with rescuing them and finding out who it is that violated our neutrality!

-----

Agathe noticed the cold look Cain gave and frowned. I must've touched on something I shouldn't have... Hearing what he said caused her to express a hint of sadness. "Sorry to hear that."

-----

Gracchus relaxed a little when Oriana said it was okay, though he still did not enjoy the cold look she gave. When she gave the suggestion of coming with her and the orphans, he casually nodded. "I don't see any harm in that." turning toward Malinha, he asked her, "Yes, no, maybe? What say you chieftain?"

-----

Benjamin listened to whatever Clarissa told him before be heard his brother call for Brown Wing Team to head to two different locations to rescue civilians. "Dang. Sorry, I better go, here's an extra communications devise." He gave instructions on how to use it then said he would call her, soon, on it. That out of the way, he sprinted towards one of the buildings. There, he and his squadron stormed inside and were met by elemental blasts. Mysticarans... Who'd have thought they'd go this far?

-----

President Anderson listened to whatever Sandra had to say. Before anything could be said back, however, one of the security officers ran up to him with the report of Naval Headquarters being notified of civilian held hostage in abandoned buildings at Hawk Street, the coordinates for both buildings provided. President Anderon nodded with a solemn nod, then told Sandra, "We should probably handle the task at hand before we discuss this matter further."

-----

Zechariah and two squadrons met at the other buildings, weapons set to stun, ready for further instructions. The sergeant could only hope reinforcements would arrive. If this, this would prove difficult.

-----

Aaron could see armored hovercraft above the city while he was on guard for any assassins. Kyle raised an eyebrow while wondering what could be going on. First, Zechariah had to leave because of an emergency, then suddenly this happens? What was going on?

-----

Sarxas listened to whatever Isaac next said before hearing from zechariah about an emergency to attend to. From what she heard, it seemed serious. Bringing out her pistols and setting them to stun, her expressions turned from happy and kitten-like to serious and angry. "I better go. Someone's violated Benjlakk's neutrality policies, and I need to be there to rescue some civilians. If there is time later today, I'll come back to talk to you."

Throwing away her plate and what was left of the salmon she had, she sprinted off with incredible speed. She met up with Zechariah and leaned on the wall where everyone in her squadron was. Whatever it was that would happen, the tiger Feliniri immigrant was prepared for.
