You might love me, but I can't love you
Ava seems much like a daughter of Aphrodite (the goddess of love in Greek mythology). She is manipulative & devious, she can get practically anyone to think they desperately love her or she can get them to hate her, whatever it is she wants at the moment. She has been taught since she was a small child how to get what she wants, when she wants, how she wants. It is incredibly easy for her to find most any person's weak spot, creating rifts between people is second nature. Men lust after her & women want to be her & yet, she despises every single one of them, the men that kiss her hand or lick her wrist & the women who pretend to fawn over one another then stab each other in the back. Most of all she hates her mother & father for making her one of them! She wants nothing more then to leave these people far behind her, she wishes her whole life is just a nightmare that she is about to wake up from, but it is the hell she must live in. Ava thinks that she cannot love at all, & she is secretly lonely but she only wants someone who is real & true... Not the liars & fakes that surround her, the liar & the fake that she is. She longs for a simple life, true love & trust. Things she has never known & never will. She never lets herself slip, her best foot is always forward. On the inside she wants to just die... or to run. She has never loved anyone, never let anyone know who she really is, never done something she has wanted to do. Her life is comitted to making sure her mother can keep her life of ease. She is dying to rebel against everyone who has ever told her to do something... If she could find someone anyone, even a vampire who was true & real then she might let her real self show & if she could find a magican who could sence her power she might even get out from under her mother's thumb.
Her manipulation skills, or really the little bit of magic she knew & her quick wit.
Ava Barlow's great great grandfather won a title, some land &, a fortune in a gambling match, her great grandfather & his son (her grandfather) all did well taking care of the estates, buliding it up even, but her father, Jonah, squandered most of the fortune on food drink & women, all of these things reduced Ava's mother, Helen, to nothing in her father's eyes &, so Helen soon hated her husband for all of the women he replaced her with & all of his drunken rages. Though he never harmed her nor did he hurt Ava she was terrified of him when he was drunk. She chose Ava as her salvation as she was the only child. Ava would become the most desirable young woman on the market when she became of age. Ava quickly realized it was going to be up to her to keep up the family name, she was going to have to rescue her family from ruin & save face... All by marrying someone with money, & so her mother started teaching her at a young age how to manipulate so as to get what she wanted. Her mother turned her into the perfect woman on the outside. Because of this she traded her childhood for lessons on being a temptress. Her days consisted of tricking the servants & playing the guests. Every day was a miserable thing over & over, again & again, she hated her life from the beginning of the first lesson. What she didn't know about the lesson was that she was learning magic! If she had known she would have used it much differently. The only person she couldn't charm was her father...
