A stern and headstrong individual, one who cannot even see past the visor of his face cannot easily peer into the mind of Elric Hephaestus. Usually coming off as a very harsh and stern man, most people think he has no time for jokes and is always focused on his duty. To some extent, he is- only for the latter. He has the capacity to be kind to his comrades, though he prefers not to show this side too much. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is always thinking ahead. He does joke around every now and then, and he's a gentleman.
In battle, he tries to keep himself levelheaded but likes the thrill of smashing a few heads. He prefers to keep to himself, and prefers fighting to diplomacy. Due to this, he has to rely on others to negotiate and talk for him most of the time, but he can hold his own conversations. Very bleak and very quiet conversations, but conversations nevertheless.

Assorted Guns - Elric is a remarkable marksman and wields different kinds of guns for different kinds of missions. He's usually found carrying an anti-materiel rifle, commonly used against hacked pieces of technology and the machines themselves. He always has either dual pistols or submachine guns on hand at all costs, though he could easily carry something else.
Vanadis-05 - Being a cyborg came with its own perks. Aside from the strange ability to swap out his body parts for guns, swords and the like- which he does not like, at all- he can connect himself to a robotic exoskeleton commonly called the Vanadis-05. The exoskeleton serves only as added armor and grants the ability of flight.
Heat Blades - He carries either heated knives or axes with him just in case someone gets too dangerously close. It's commonly used against human enemies as well.
Strengths: "Battle-tested, combat evolved."
Elric's true strength lies in his physical augmentations. He had gone through all the training to be a proper soldier and had survived for many years on the battlefield. Giving him cybernetic implants and parts only served to better that. Particularly skilled in the martial art of Krav Maga, Elric can repel and overpower human enemies just as well as he destroys robotic foes. He is quite the marksman, able to operate turrets and while he's not the best, he can sometimes be found driving a tank around when he's not in the Vanadis-05.
You can't always count on Elric to come up with foolproof plans, but he's rather knowledgeable about strategies and formations. Additionally, not a single part of Elric can be hacked due to a few parts of him still remaining intact.
Weaknesses: "You'd think a cyborg would have no flaws. Guess what; they still do."
While most of his weaknesses as a human were covered by his cybernetic augmentations, it doesn't mean he's completely foolproof. While his overpowering strength is hard to pass, he cannot see with his own naked eye and relies on the visor of his helmet to see properly. Despite his overpowering strength, it doesn't necessarily mean that he cannot be overpowered. In hand-to-hand combat, he can only last so long before being overrun.
He can be a bit selfless and will try to protect some of his closer allies on the battlefield.
Backstory: "The Hephaestus Project was the craziest thing I've seen. Worse, it was pioneered by my old man."
Born into a family of inventors and soldiers, Elric had been born when the world had already fallen into the apocalypse. The demand for capable soldiers were high, and even when he was young, his family called for him to be a soldier almost right away. This caused Elric to have a strong sense of responsibility even as when he was young.
Elric had always admired his father; his father was an inventor, the man who started the Hephaestus Project. The Hephaestus Project was simple- to create cybernetic parts for injured or crippled soldiers. Its greatest idea was to create the very symbol of the Hephaestus- to create a soldier who was better, in any way possible. Enhanced strength. Enhanced speed. Forcing several martial arts into one body. It was like trying to force every possible talent into one person. For a human, it was impossible. But for the subjects of the Hephaestus Project, anything was- they were machines.
He used to want nothing to do with it. Though he admired his father, he did not exactly agree to the Hephaestus Project; it was impossible, at least to him. Even for machines. Machines could not be perfect- proven by the machines that have been hacked into.
But tragedy struck on one of his many missions.
It was easy. Almost too easy. Burst in, wipe out the machines and retake the facility.
What they did not expect was the arrival of a new weapon of the machines. A powerful superweapon that decimated most of his allies. Elric doesn't like to remember that day- all he remembers about that day is that his body burned away as he shielded one of his allies in an act of selfless sacrifice.
The next thing he knew he was awakening in a capsule. Apparently his father had begged for him to be saved; that there was still a way to save Elric. He was turned into a cyborg. He didn't feel like himself anymore. He had become exactly what he did not want to be; a machine.
He had become the symbol of the Hephaestus Project.
Testing went fine. To his relief, Elric could still think like himself, he just didn't feel quite right, lacking a heartbeat, and the fact that whenever he tapped on something, he could not feel it properly. Being a cyborg came with its perks, though. He found that he was taller, for example, and that he had become stronger than ever before. Faster. And he somehow knew several self-defense techniques that he had never even known in his life. It was like a soul being put into the body of someone else.
Little by little, Elric came to accept his new form and made peace with it. Now all that matters to him is finally ending this war the only way he knew how- destroying all sides.
