✽ His equipment, or rather his auburn cloth he wears is long sleeved and reachs until almost every part of his body is covered and unseen. It isn't necessarily made for the purpose of protecting ones body, on the contrary, it's only due to Zefar dislike his own skin. He has it rather not for anyone to see what there actually is; a rough and hard thick skin, similar to that of a dragon. However, it isn't only protecting him from various dangers, but what isn't know is also that it eats Zefar from inside. Anyway, the details of his essence to be explained later, his coat is actually fairly thin and his hood is there only to protect his face from the sun. The hood is of a great importance because only the face doesn't have a hint of dragons blood manipulations and so doesn't strengthen Zefar's face where then the characteristics of a vampire takes effect; namely not being able to face the sun. (more details about his appearance below ⇊)
✽ He carries around a spanish 6-shot flintlock sword revolver, a sabre with an argent hilt and a respective amount of throwing knives. They are all hidden beneath his auburn clothes, either carried in a scabbard hanging from a waist-mounted sword belt or attached on the belt, so its close at hands. I'd count as an overstatement when saying he is an excellent swordsman, nonetheless, he isn't a fairly bad one either. To be honest, his strength he put into every sword thrust is evidently lacking albeit its agility and accuracy. Only thanks to his precision and quick eyes, Zefar managed to even survive up until now -- and that's truly no one is able to look down upon. Anyway, it has to be noted that the sword revolver is already overused and won't be any help in a real fight also due to its weight which is fairly heavy. So why is he still carrying such useless scrap with him? Well, it's all about the memories which it bears and the certain value of it in Zefar's eyes. Also to be added is his, well, kind of hobby to collect knives, taking it from those, who can't use it anymore (corpses). Therefore it isn't rare for the throwing knives of his owns a rather wide variety.
✽ Within his cylindrical case which he carries on his shoulder, he keeps things like bottles with either water or blood, edible food mostly consist of fruits he found along the way, various books and more importantly paper and ink, writing things about the journey, like a diary, and also imaginary stories one couldn't believe Zefar could write. It is truthfully odd for a mercenary to do that, indeed, but it isn't the matter of getting unneeded attention but furthermore for private reasons. He dislikes to share his writings with anyone due to the awkwardness and he avoids to write within the presence of others, whether they're in his friends circle or not. Either way, he persists that he only writes a formal journal due to the opinion of having imaginations is a tad bit feminine.

Skills/ Abilities
Basic knowledge about Herbals; It isn't a rare thing to have him knowing about such fundamental healing due to his diligent studying but also his overly eager compulsion to information. That's probably why he can count as a bookworm. Anyway, such things are truly convenient through the journey which of course, holds its own dangers and surprises.
An excellent convincer; Thanks to his natural charisma and carefully chosen words.
Analyzing the ability through blood; An ability inherited from the vampire blood of his father, though the dragon blood which is blends within restricts this ability quite a bit. Of course, this can only work out by him biting into the flesh of the creature and sucking the blood directly.
Maintain composure; He was always a calm individual.
Charisma; That's probably a given, which he has yet to fully make use of.

Magic
Stealing magic ability; Aside from analyzing the ability through tasting the blood, he is also able to steal its magic, though that isn't without consequences. Due to the dragon, and the human blood, this vampire ability is very limited and can only take effect in a certain span of time. And that's includes the risk losing blood. (more details in the weaknesses below ⇊)
The skin of dragon; Said to be hard as steal and very difficult to even scratch. This is one of a very few advantages the mixed dragon blood actually brought along. Although it might not be as robust as a dragon skin in Zefar's case, it still protect him from many harm and fire won't do anything to him. However, it's significant that his face is that of a normal human being, which means it's harmful and vulnerable. Although its characteristics might favor his vampire existence because of the noticeable beauty and also the sharp canines, yet the skin in his face is that of his human mother -- soft and fragile.
A weak but existent ability to fly; It never succeeds, but there is always the theory and the hidden wish.

Weaknesses
Sickly body; As already been said before, the dragon blood within Zefar isn't only protecting, but also deadly. It's the very reason for his poor physical strength also condition. Another thing is also that he occasionally had to spit out blood and so trying to weaken the dragon blood. It is like a fire within himself, that just won't die out -- something that makes him suffer. However, it isn't really known to the others mercenaries due to him hiding that fact not wanting to cause anyone to worry. It is enough that someone in the past died trying to heal him, because previously unknown to him that the blood he spit out is boiling hot like lava; and it won't left any skin unharmed that had touched it.
Inability of his face to meet the sun; See above.
Unable to take neccessary risks; See below (personality part)
Water; He dislikes water, probably because he literary carries around a flame within his body -- more importantly, he can't swim. So it might be possible for him to be even scared of this blue liquid.

    Calm || Mature || Analytical || A bit pacifistic || Sceptical || Charismatic || Intellectual || Rather Idealistic

He is a rather complex individual to understand, and if you'd try comprehending his demeanours, you'll have to dig deeper into the past of his, long long ago. As such what’s obvious is his calm and mature side that never precipitates things and tends to take it easy and slow. Zefar is a person who thinks first before taking an action and to be bold, loathes a rush actions which in his opinion is equal to idiocy and goofiness. He rather not makes a move at all if it's not verified that everyone knows exactly what to do. If anything, he would probably call it off and stop the mission or assure everyone’s safety at first in that instant without wanting to receive any objections. Perhaps his behaviour is rather unpleasant for those, who still seem to dwell a hope of success, but his character not taking any risk is probably one quality as a good leader. However, that doesn't mean he is qualified to be one which is frankly speaking actually impossible. It's also due to this exact same reason; not being able to take risks. If a situation arouses where he has to choose either saving many or one, two people, he'll of course choose the one with bigger amount of life first. Only that won't make him enemies. However, his analytical being in these situations takes the best of him and although there is still hope, he won't save the other few, rather staying and assuring the peoples safety, and that act won't necessarily make people trust him. Everything comes down to his promises... and those don’t dwell long as such. So, why I am telling you this side of him? It is due to its importance and also because it plays an evident role in his past as a leader of many; where he had to carry such a big responsibility.

Zefar is a peace orientated person, and dislikes to solve problems with violence. Probably sounds rather pacifistic, but it's not completely the point. Although he might seem and talk like a Buddha or whatever sacred person, he is actually quite sceptical of strangers and won't just trust their words. Therefore it occurs several times that due to his crucial analysis, he chooses to fight rather than dissipating time to coax somebody to hinder a meaningless fight. Zefar is namely in the persuasion that words won't reach certain people and that he is able to distinguish them from another. And to be honest, that wasn't always the case. Anyway, although currently he might appear as a bit overly confident and calculated, there isn't one who can say he isn't right with his words. There was something about him that appeals to those, who hears out his speak -- as if they are left assured by his side. He is skilled in gradually persuade people to follow him and let them absorb his promises like a helpless lamb. Despite this giving off such an evil intention, it isn't used as such so slowly, trust is also build upon his words. Both is perceptive and intellectual essence helped him with it, which perhaps would also assist him to acquire dominion -- however, those positions never appealed to Zefar. He was that kind of a man who appears only when he was urgently needed and if there really is no one who'll help. If he is in the belief that one didn't need his help, he wouldn't help. It's a persistence of conviction that one will actually withstand, which sometimes appear to be shallow and a tad naive.

Principally not Zefar himself is ignorant, in fact, he often helps people out. It's probably only his belief that makes him seem as indifferent. Although he might have much knowledge inside his head, even though he is able to speak with such undeniable persuasion -- he isn't as well-versed if it's about human psychology. Appears to be rather clumsy in figuring peoples mind, he often misinterpret ones words and with adding his sceptical entity, this characteristic might be the fatal point in his essentially kind person. Then again, it is just because he is thinking too much -- and so lacking the ability of taking risks for others. No, Zefar was never a person who took risk, even until now. Zefar doesn't believe in a so called 'hope' and only trusting his 'possibilities' and plans. Short, he is a man of fact where personal feelings can't interfere. A tad bit like an automaton, like a computer... it's sad, really. Nonetheless, that doesn't mean he lacks of sentiments. He owns them, and they occasionally cry for him to release them, but they dwell on inside his heart, in a prison because of him suppressing the feelings not wanting them to take over him.

As a friend, Zefar is known to be reliable, caring, kind and on top of it loyal. He holds dear those principles of a well-functioned friendship and he knows exactly what he supposes to do or not. However, within such a bond, Zefar is more nonchalant and rather open, less strict even friendly. It's like his emotions within him is spreading, although in his demeanour, there are seemingly restrictions like a bad-hidden insecurity. Nonetheless, due to his charismatic and extrovert essence those small hints that he is still 'on guard' within the friends circle is barely conspicuous, and overall if one would notice, it wouldn't make any sense. It screamed telling him that he can't show his vulnerability -- yes, those thoughts still exist. Yet, he aspires a place to rest and blurt everything out. He urges to trust people better. However, he is just unable to. Aside from those hidden feelings, it's notable how authentic and trustworthy he is thus, what excellent humour he actually possesses. Among those in his circle, he is able to laugh freely in an extent that one ought to believe in a carefree Zefar, though one could never be more wrong than that. Zefar is unique in a way of being witty, or rather well, has an interesting taste of humour. It's something basic what makes him also a natural interlocutor one can easily talk to. He might be secretive about certain events in his past, and he tends to encourage rather than to lead in the now present time; but what hasn't change is his quite idealistic thinking and his will to help people.

The Dragon Blood & The Birth of the Bastard
The occurrences around his birth is vital for his whole existence, so I guess we'll start off with 'once upon a time' -- where both of Zefar's parents haven't met yet, hence, how it came to his birth. It all began with his father. He was said to be a greedy vampire. No one could blame him for that though, due to his biological heritage from both of the very famous vampire duo whose name was well-known through those many years. Nonetheless, it wasn't the fame he was greedy for unlike his parents, but the urge to own even more abilities -- it was him craving for knowledge and more importantly; strength. He was also the one who invented something new, developed an ability superior to the other vampires; an ability to recreate a similar chemical structure while analyzing another’s blood -- and so theoretically be able to literary steal ones ability. It couldn't be classified as harmless; however, nothing is able to stop him from his urge for power. That's how it came to the point, where he went to steal dragon's abilities; therefore dragons because they are known to be superior to any other race, known to be the strongest and known to be the almighty. And although this sounds unbelievable, he succeeds to come back alive. Yes, truly succeed... rumours even went around saying he came back without suffering from anything, proud and... able to spread wings. It was, as if a new creature was born. However... nothing lasts long. If there is no other way to the peak, you can only roll to the ground. In the case of Zefar's father, his demise was rapid and very shameful. One day, he couldn't control the ability of the dragon he acquired through their blood and it came to a disaster he had caused. Suddenly, respect and awe changed to hatred and frightened screams that's the reason he had to go away, far, far away, so he won't ever do a harm to his home country. There, in his miserable state, he'd found his angel. Truthfully, she wasn't one, of course, are you silly? It was only a human; 'she' was only a human. Vampires in Zefar's father’s position regard the female human only as their servants... or toys. Anything, but not as an equal being. Nevertheless, she allured him... and probably due to her forced marriage, she saw him as the only way to be free. Or perhaps she truly loved him? These stories of them are variety, but the only thing for sure is that they'd a baby together. And you may guess who that baby is. –

Zefar never lost many words about his childhood, neither what he had done before becoming a mercenary under the king. Well, that's probably cause there is almost nothing to be proud about... and on the other hand, he wouldn't want to accept any unnecessary pity from others. Anyway, he despised to talk about himself the most - not due to any shyness, nor because of the pitiful there is to tell, in fact, it is more about how others will regard him afterwards. He didn't want to be seen as someone you should be kind to due to his background -- that hurt his proud the most. Either way though, he often talked about his home country... apparently his father told him many stories, tales and also his adventures. To be honest, Zefar has yet to believe his father -- well, who would believe someone talking about rich parents where the child himself is living under a nearly crushing down house? There was times where Zefar urged to go to that country, wanting to meet his grandparents. However, the expression on his father's face always let him back off from saying anything. That was also the case about his mother, whose face he only knew through words only. It wasn't obvious to see but... it was in his early teens where Zefar started to doubt his father and regard him as a liar. Though seeing the way he is now, he didn't hate him nor his stories.

His father died fairly soon for a vampire... perhaps it was cause he rejected to drink human blood? Either way, the blood from the animals which was always the feed he had poisoned him -- and so it came to that point where his soul left his body. And Zefar. He buried his father by himself knowing the villagers wouldn't want to help them anyway. Somehow, it became known that they were vampires, although they tried to hid it well. Tried to mingle in the human society -- for nothing. Nothing tied him from going, so he went. Far away... gaining the knowledge his father told him was endless, and so found the beauty within. There, it wasn't sure what he'd done. The years afterwards were grey and dark. Nearly unbearable -- makes probably anyone suicidal. Once was a proud leader, than everyone suddenly despised him, without Zefar comprehending the reason. That's how he ended up far far away, trying to slip through the boundaries in a disguise -- but somehow ended up in the royal army. Yeah well -- though it sounds pretty much like a fantasy, it was the truth. He just accidentaly ended up as a mercenary. Ridiculous perhaps, but he just saw it as, well... Lucky. And somehow, he became hooked to the journey they were doing -- where he in the past was always alone.

So begins...

It was about time.

Years of planning and getting ready for that very moment were about to take place. Sakura looked about her room, no, her prison. A frown pulled on her lips as she eyed every inch of the space that had been the only thing she'd known for almost ten years. The bed in the center of the room with its four tall mahogany posts. The closet that held all of her clothing which she'd only ever worn three dresses from. A writing desk that she never used, except to sit at and ponder how she was going to free herself.

It had taken several years to accumulate what she needed. Hiding sheets from the nursemaid who tended to her room every so often, but not so much that it was suspicious. Gathering up old clothes from a couple of the servants in the castle whose rooms were close to her own. Finally, making requests for cloth that she knew she would be granted and from that making the rest of her clothing that she would wear when leaving the castle. She didn't want anyone recognizing her right off the bat as soon as she stepped foot outside of the palace walls.

Not that anyone would, though. Sakura thought to herself as she turned to the window. She'd never been let out of the castle before and even rarely ever allowed to wander the halls of her palace. It had taken place when she was about five years old. One of the maids had been carrying a tray of dishware and Sakura had startled the poor woman by coming around a corner too fast as she'd been playing. The young princess had crashed into the woman's legs and they both got tangled up. In order to not fall upon the small princess, the maid dropped the platter she'd been carrying and the dishes broke all around Sakura, scaring her.

Sakura wasn't entirely sure what had happened after that, all she could remember was feeling a lot of pain in her chest and then nothing afterwards. Since then she'd been locked into her room, her mother's only reasons were that she was very fragile and that she was being taken care of in this way.

Shaking her head, the princess cleared the memory and went to where she'd stashed all the sheets that she'd tied together. Dragging it all out from a well concealed place underneath the head of the bed, she tied the end of it to one of the bed posts and pulled on it heavily. When it didn't give out, she nodded her head in satisfaction and released her hold on it. The last preparation was for her to change clothes. Currently she was wearing a bright red silken dress and her hair was done up, pulled away from her face to show the flowering mark on her forehead. Undoing her hair, she let the long black silken locks fall, covering the mark perfectly.

Stripping from the dress, she pulled out the commoners clothes that she'd prepared. First a pair of leather pants, over that a white and brown skirt that was cut in such a fashion that the front of it only came down to mid thigh while the back was down to just above her knees. Tall boots came on over the pants, their leather warm against her feet. A white commoners shirt was next, and over that was a leather vest that pulled it all together. Catching her reflection in a tall mirror just across from her, she eyed the appearance with careful scrutiny. Satisfied with how it looked, she grabbed the sheets and threw them out of her window.

She frowned a bit, wish there was a better way to do this.... Leaning out the window she looked around to make sure that there was no one around. It was nearing the end of the day, the sunlight casting it's orange glow on the other side of the castle and thus where her room was, the shadows were much darker. Climbing up onto the edge of her window, she gripped the sheets that would take her three stories down the side of the castle wall. Straddling the sheets, she took one look over her shoulder and ground her teeth.

For a brief moment, her body shook uncontrollably. Facing the wall again, she took a deep breath and stepped off the ledge of her window. Leaning backwards, she started walking down the side of the stone wall. Thankfully, there weren't any other large windows down below her room, only the small occasional one here and there. Halfway down, she felt the sheets slacken a bit, jolting her body. Her heart jumped to her throat and she feared for a moment that she would begin to feel the pain that she hadn't felt in a few months. The attacks were rare, but every now and then when she was feeling particularly upset it would flare up.

Was this going to be too much for her? No. She shook her head and continued downwards. Freedom wasn't too much farther and she would have it even if it cost her. Nearing the bottom, the sheets finally gave, the knots loosening as she'd climbed down. A bit of a sharp gasp filled her throat as she fell the last few feet. Thankfully she hadn't been that high up and the bushes softened her fall. Tangled up in leaves, vines and a some thorns, she groaned slightly before sitting up. Brushing her fingers through her hair, she worked to free the small sticks and leaves that had tangled there.

Standing up, Sakura turned and caught sight of a carriage that was sitting not too far from where she'd come down at. Her heart leapt with elation and joy. My escape! Looking left and right, she quickly skirted towards the carriage and jumped into the back of it just as she heard voices from the palace entrance. Ducking down between two large boxes, she settled there with her heart pounding rapidly. Closing her eyes, she focused on calming herself quickly and hoped that whoever it was wouldn't notice her until she was far from the palace.

"Thank you for your trouble, mercenary," the Queen's adviser called as Shyc left the castle. He waved back at the man without saying a word or turning around, taking the steps two at a time.

He walked out back to the carriage that he'd been driving. The delivery to the castle had been taken care of and a couple of the palace guard were escorting him back to the cart. Shyc wondered what it was that the Queen had wanted, and what was in the box that he'd just delivered to her, but he knew it was best not to ask. Even so, she probably wouldn't have answered him anyway. The Queen was just that kind of woman, cold and secretive.

A few gold coins had been given for his trouble and the talk with the Queen had been short and to the point, a feature that he quite enjoyed about the woman, even if she was cold in manner. Shyc reached up and ran his hand through his brown hair, pulling it away from his eyes as he strode towards the carriage. The guards next to him halted a few feet away from it, having done their duty.

"Thanks!" he called back to them, waving his hand a bit. His grin was a bit wild and mischievous as he climbed up onto the seat of the carriage and flicked the reigns to get the horses going. Once he was freed from the scrutinizing gaze of the castle guard and others, he laughed out loud. Putting the reigns in one hand, he dug into his pocket with his free hand and drew out a few jewels. His grin was wide as he let the horses pull the cart down the cobble stoned street of the city.

"Way too easy. Sometimes it's no fun being able to just grab what you want and not get caught at all," he said to himself. Re-pocketing the jewels he pulled the reigns to the left and the horses turned at an intersection in the street. The carriage clattered down the street that came to a small gate leading out of the city and into the forested area just beyond. Shyc hummed to himself while he directed the horses into the woods. I wonder if Merialeth or Henry will like the jewels I got... Or maybe Kai would like them... he thought to himself. He enjoyed showing off what he'd gathered to the others, even if he was going to get into trouble about it.

The carriage pulled into the area where they'd camped out for the night only because they had to do that delivery. Shyc stood up and stretched. With having to report back to the castle, getting new supplies was also in order since they were going to be away for a while. As he jumped off the cart, he pulled from his pouch a letter from the Queen, "Hey Raze, this is from her Majesty," he called out and handed the letter to the elf.

He went back to the cart and lifted himself up onto the back of it and grabbed the crate that he'd filled with the supplies from the city. As he lifted it, he caught sight of black hair and a body shifting around frantically. Startled as he looked at bright purple eyes gazing up at him in shock, he gave a sharp shout and stumbled backwards. The back of his boot caught the edge of the carriage and he cried out again as he fell from the cart. Landing hard on his back with the heavy crate atop his chest, he groaned as he lay there. Lifting a hand he pointed at the cart.

"Girl.... girl in cart...."

The seasons this year meant well for him, given the fact that Zefar preferred coldness over the indomitable ardency the sun's rays provided. He thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of doing nothing in these relaxing short moments as he took a walk through the nearby forest. Several foliages in their own unique way, danced with the blowing wind, offered Zefar a chance to cool off and forget about the living flame inwardly. It felt good to have an opportunity to be alone sometimes, but nevertheless, having someone to support you is true bliss. One significant warm smile hushed through his face while he walked down the path. Continuously worry about certain individuals is rather tedious, probably the reason he is often called the worry-wart of the troop. However, these expressions only showed his care for the most, also an inexplicable strong belief to the worst occurrence when anticipating possibilities. Short, it's only him who wished for their safety, like a mother for its child -- though in the other hand, not really. More like how a friend would be concerned, yet there is more to it than the naked eyes may show.

It was only a matter of seconds that allowed him clear his thoughts as he then reverted by contemplating on the uncertainties life consist of – as eventually a sigh escaped his crimson lips. Enough. It is now definitely more than enough, so he told himself, tried to convince himself to only concentrate on the task given. To be frank, it had been him who went voluntarily, searching for useful herbs and wild berries. He disliked the thought of letting others do all the work; instead, he urged to be the one relied to. Given that Zefar only took benefits out of his knowledge that he had gathered, which mostly centred about alternative medicine, he had found this task to be his only utility. However, there was also another reason to go off alone. It was his body’s demands which consisted of the longing for human blood, the only kind of blood that may satisfy and alleviate the pain within. These specific times, he loathed his vampire heritage and really despised his own sentiments. To whatever extent though he felt hatred, he couldn't help but being in an ecstasy when he catches the alluring odour of a female human, mostly them, who were yet to become a woman. The sensation once he grabbed for their fragile frame and infiltrate the young flesh, as then sucking dry their blood until the soul left its shell -- it was indeed heaven, and it was more addicting than any drug is able to. Once every four month, so he gave a rule for his own, was the only time he allowed himself to lower his pride and letting his senses took the monstrous being out of him, permit him to go crazy for his own behalf. Although it was not the slightest enough – Zefar insisted and somehow survived with mixed blood of several animals that were proven not to be a poison to him.

Breathing in and out, trying to calm himself, he put the wide variety of troves inside his cylindrical case he always brought along and stood up, prudently with light steps, jumping above all obstacles on the way when he found back to the path, which lead to the place the group of mercenaries had placed its cart. From the distant, he caught the glimpse of Henry – a rather easy individual to get along with and definitely In Zefar’s liking, given the fact that she didn’t own the odour as other female human do which left his worries assured. However, before he could even wave towards her direction, she had already left her position to guard and went to the cart in a rather concerning manner. It was obvious that something wasn’t right, given the fact that she just left her assigned position. Soon, as he neared the camp, he noticed that nearly the whole bunch was gathered there, seemingly fixed on something within the cart. Whatsoever it is they are looking at, it appeared not to give off a certain danger degree, due to the fact that there is less fierce suspiciousness on their faces, rather it was a certain kind of surprise with a mixture of rare interest.

“…what are you doing here miss?" Was the only thing he overheard and he could have sworn, that even gentleness swinged within Henry’s tune of voice. A tad surprised with everyone’s reaction to an uninvited guest inside the cart, he couldn’t do otherwise but peeking... and in that very moment, he could comprehend them. It was a woman with a rather strong odour of virginity, and a beautiful face like no other, needless to say that she was a captivating elegancy. Her eyes was able to allure easily with its purple orbs and a deep kind of innocence which was fairly hard to find in these days and age. To be honest, it was unfitting for her to wear such dirty commoner clothes because her attitude resembled more a royalty than a mere citizen. Summarizing, she was odd – but not quite the type of a usual thief. It was also safe to assume that she didn’t meant to do any harm – or so he perceived.

“What a rare occasion we have here, that everyone is gathered so nicely?,” One could hear a certain delight within his voice as then he gently slapped his male companions shoulders, convince them to follow him with a simple hand gesture. “Let’s better back off and leave the speaking to Henry. Our uninvited guest will probably deem it appropriate to convey her intent to another woman than a bunch of suspicious looking men,” Zefar eventually said while laughing with his usual friendly manner. “She can't escape elsewhere anyway,” He added only for the mercenary to hear and smiled, which is rather difficult to identify. Thereby he also distanced himself, not only for the spoken purpose, but also due to the fact that he couldn’t stand her attractive scent any longer – or he would turn into a murderous vampire sooner or later.

The cart had come to a stop and Sakura had intended to make her escape before anyone caught her, except now she was in a predicament... The voice of the boy who had driven the cart was still nearby and within moments he was up in the back of the cart with her. Sakura thought that it was great she was still hidden, but that didn't last very long as the boy leaned down and grabbed the crate that was right in front of her, hiding her away. She tried to move away so that he wouldn't see her, but alas his gaze fell on her and he gave a startled shout.

The poor youth then stumbled backwards, taken completely by surprise with her being there and promptly fell out of the carriage with yet another scream. Within seconds she heard another voice, this one came around the carriage to see what had happened and then another one almost immediately after shouting across the way as there was a lone tavern sitting off the side of the road where the carriage had been drawn too.

"Yes.There is a girl in the cart. Although I am not so certain she was the woman that screamed." the first said as he gazed into the cart at her. Sakura didn't move an inch, afraid that they would do something to her and also because her heart was pounding so hard that she could feel the pain beginning to start.

"What is going on?" The second voice shouted out, startling her again. It would seem that she'd woken up an entire contingent of people. What luck... The first one move away from the fallen boy who groaned on the ground and peered into the cart to try to get a better look at her.

"I am guessing you aren't something Shyc purchased at the market, given his reaction. That being said, I do wonder why you're here. Can you explain what wisdom led you to infiltrate a mercenary's carriage on the way back to its camp?"

"Mer-mercenary?" she muttered, probably not even audible enough for him to hear. What was a mercenary anyway? She didn't know, but what she did know is that if she didn't calm down soon, her pain was going to take over very quickly. Sakura clenched her teeth, her fingers pulling into a tight fist. To add to her growing discomfort and sudden attention, a woman's voice filled the air as she came over to them rapidly.

"It's a girl Shyc, no need to be screaming like that. Move back your crowding her. Names Henry, and what are you doing here miss?" the young woman said as she ushered the growing group of men away from the cart and then turned to offer Sakura a smile.

Perhaps it was the smile, or maybe it was the fact that it was a woman in front of her, either way it seemed to calm the princess and she released her pent up breath almost as a sigh. Slowly she crawled to the front of the carriage where she looked out and around her surroundings. They were located in the forested area of Iverien with the lone tavern sitting on the outskirts of the city. Wow.... were her thoughts as she gazed about her surroundings in awe.

"Uh... um, I jumped in this cart without thinking really...." she answered the woman slowly, "I just..." her voice faltered how was she supposed to tell them that she was running away from the castle without them knowing that she was the resident there? Maybe she should just say that she wasn't from around there... kidnapped? Possibly... running from her kidnappers and trying to get back home... Yes, that should do.

"I was taken from my home a few years ago. I finally managed to escape... I just want to get back home," she offered, hoping that her petty lie wouldn't be caught.

Shyc groaned as he lay there with the heavy crate on his chest. His lips pulled into a deep frown as Raze accused him of the girlish scream earlier. The young mercenary felt his face heating at that and he quickly turned away to object, "It wasn't me!" he cried out, though that didn't really help the situation either.

To add insult to injury, Raze directed his next words towards the woman saying that she definitely wasn't something that Shyc had bought from the market simply because of his reaction. To this, the youth gasped at the accusation, "I would never do such a thing Raze!" then he faltered for a moment, thoughts filling his mind, "Er... well accept for that one time, but that doesn't count! She was forced on me and I didn't know what to do! Such weird rules in that Kingdom... I swear I was so confused..." Shyc paused, then realized that their leader wasn't really paying attention to him.

Finally, grumbling to himself he noted that the others were far more interested in the girl sitting in their cart than if he was alright. Rolling his eyes he huffed as he started to shove the crate off his chest. Why did he pick up so much stuff? Oh, because Raze wanted him to... damn it.

"Damn... heavy... thing!" he panted as he finally managed to get it off him, "Jeez some help you guys are," he muttered as he stood and patted himself clean, but as per usual he wasn't heard or he was ignored. Henry came then and ushered them all away from the cart, saying that they were crowding the poor girl inside. Shyc would have argued back, but a pat on his shoulder took his attention and he turned to see Zefar standing beside them, a pleasant look on his face under the hood of his robes.

“What a rare occasion we have here, that everyone is gathered so nicely? Let’s better back off and leave the speaking to Henry. Our uninvited guest will probably deem it appropriate to convey her intent to another woman than a bunch of suspicious looking men. She can't escape elsewhere anyway,” Zefar said as he turned away to put some distance between them and the cart. Shyc frowned a bit, but he followed after the tall man and allowed Henry to speak with the woman.

"I wonder what we're going to do with her," Shyc pondered as he stood there for a bit. Then almost as if he'd forgotten something seriously important, he gave a bit of a gasp and shoved his hand into his pocket, digging around for the jewels he'd 'acquired'. Beaming at Kai and Zefar, he lifted his hand to show the seven jewels that he'd procured, "Hey! Look, what do you think, do you like them? I got them for you guys," he said, smiling brightly.

"Oh, hey Raze, what did the Queen want?" he asked suddenly, turning to look over to the half elf as he still held his hand out for the others to see the jewels. Shyc switched gears so easily just like usual. His normal energy seemingly returning almost instantly and the girl in the cart a thing of the past.

"Uh... um, I jumped in this cart without thinking really...." Henry listened patiently for the girl to continue, she was obviously hesitating and trying to come up with an excuse on why she was there but she wasn't dangerous to them, this Henry knew for a fact, as well as that she didn't mean them any trouble either.

"I just... I was taken from my home a few years ago. I finally managed to escape... I just want to get back home." She finished off after a few more faltered words, Henry gave her a sweet smile in hopes of making the girl feel more comfortable after all she had just been caught in the back of a carriage and probably hadn't been expecting it to happen.

"Well if that's the case, you can always come with us. I was a runaway myself only 2 years ago and besides it will be nice to have another girl in the group." She paused as she glanced over her shoulder at the 4 boys who seemed to be standing with Zefar after being pulled away, Henry sent Zefar grateful smile knowing how Shyn could be and at the thought of the boy glanced towards him, only to roll her eyes when she noticed the pretty jems laying in his palm.

"So runaway, what's your name?" She asked a she turned back to the girl and reaching out her hand to offer her help out of her cramped little hiding place underneath the carriage. She wanted to make the girl feel welcome, she didn't know her one bit but she could always sense when someone was similar to her, maybe not with an evil clan of assassins chasing them for their head but still with a heavy past.

"Oh, hey Raze, what did the Queen want?" Glancing over her shoulder again at the group, she spotted the letter that Shyn had handed the man a little while ago, she had to admit she found herself curious. Though they were mercenaries it wasn't everyday that they were hired by a queen.

"Ya Raze, let's hear what her majesty has to say, and Shyn, don't go throwing around crates like that, someone could get hurt." She smiled at him innocently as she helped the lady from the carriage, before taking her hand and pulling her over to stand with the group. "Oh and if everyone's cool with it, Our dear runaway over here is going to join us until she can return 'home'. She continued at they both came to a stop in front of her comrades.

Asteridax Morzän

"Thank you for your trouble, mercenary,"

After watching the mercenary leave the castle grounds, Lord Asteridax had finally returned to his personal quarters, excusing himself from the Queen's presence by stating that he had some delicate matters to attend. Even though the Queen was one of absolute power, she did give him free rein over some aspects of her kingdom.

Once he reached the entrance, the door leading to his quarters had opened itself as if by reaction to his presence. Potions of various colors and sizes lined one of his walls, across from the many ingredients lining the opposite wall. Paperwork and alchemical devices laid scattered across his main desk, the window behind it revealing the castle's beautiful courtyard below.

The sorcerer took his usual place at the window, hidden behind the darkened glass frame, removing the golden mask that most of the kingdom's subjects have recognized him by. Taking a quick glance into the grounds below, he noticed the same mercenary from below, being escorted by a couple of Her Majesty's palace guards to the gates...

"Sorry for the intrusion my Liege, but Her Majesty has tasked me with passing this message to you."

One of the guards had entered his personal quarters, his domain, passing a letter from the Queen herself, the personal seal clearly visible.

"Well then, explain what Her Majesty requires of my personal abilities," Asteridax ordered with his back turned, his reply holding such fervor.

"I apologize, but I believe it is better for you to read it yourself. She explained that no other eyes are to gaze upon the letter but yours, my Liege-"

"Very well."

The sorcerer replaced his golden mask before turning to the guard, his fiery eyes burning through the mask itself, and removing the sealed letter from the guard's possession. As he opened the letter, he sighed approvingly to what the letter had contained, before inscribing a nearby piece of parchment and setting the letter alight.

The Queen wished for him to personally serve as a Liaison between the very group of mercenaries that she had contracted and herself, though she would not explain for what reasons exactly in the letter. This was more than enough for him to understand that the Queen had taken interest in this odd group of mercenaries.

"My transport, have it ready. I'll be taking my leave soon. Her Majesty has tasked me with a special assignment. Now leave my sight, you've extended your stay for long enough."

By his order, the guard had removed himself from the sorcerer's sight, closing the reinforced door behind him. Asteridax grabbed a small crystal orb from the surface of his desk, then proceeded to search his collection of potions, deciding upon keeping a few restoration and abjuration potions for his travels, their hues of blue and green shining through their crystal containers. Before departing, he magically recalled a wooden walking stick from a nearby wall.

---

"My Liege, we have arrived."

Asteridax had suddenly opened his eyes from the sound of the guard's voice, after taking a quick rest during the [roughly] twenty-minute ride to the mercenaries' campsite.

"Good. I no longer require of your services. You may return to your duties," he called out through the carriage's door, before departing the transport itself. As he looked towards the camp, two royal guards were stationed to both sides of the carriage, much to his chagrin. He waved them off, before entering the campsite itself.

While he approached the odd group, the guards had removed their presence as quickly as they had arrived, leaving only the sorcerer and his belongings at the entrance of the camp. That was when he realized that the group were too busy to notice a guest and had leaned against the trunk of a nearby tree...

I wonder how long it'll take them to realize that there's a guest at their campsite and if I have to cast any spells to garner their attention, he chuckled to himself as he waited silently before introducing himself to the crowd, not feeling the need to closely observe what exactly was happening.

Razeluxe

Naturally, if Shyc captured Razeluxe's attention, the rest of the camp was sure to follow shortly behind. This statement held true when, no sooner than when Raze attempted to question the stowaway, Henry appeared to see what all the commotion was about, as anyone probably would when hearing a womanly screech of the likes of which Shyc had previously emitted. Assertive as always, she forced herself into the scene.

"It's a girl Shnc, no need to be screaming like that." she restated, and honestly, it was probably needed. Shyc could be a handful on occasion, especially with his nasty habit of thievery. And he dared boast about it as well! At the very least, the young man was wise enough not to do so directly in front of Razeluxe, who would only get irritated with him. The woman began ordering them back. "Move back, you're crowding her." she told them, giving Razeluxe a small push away from the carriage before turning back to the other lady and (although Raze couldn't really see it) giving her a smile. She the decided to introduce herself to their stowaway.

"What is going on?" Kai asked, appearing from the camp. He did not look his best at this moment, but Razeluxe had something else to worry about right now.

"Shyc brought back a woman." Razeluxe informed, leaving it at that. Perhaps one could take that a very odd way, but he figured that Kai would get the gyst of what was occurring soon enough, when she explained herself. For now, however, Razeluxe could do naught but wait and see if Henry just upset the woman more or got actual answers from her. Raze, although a chilvarous guy at times, was not the expert in dealing with woman, especially those who decide to use his carriage as a free trip without so much as asking for permission. She did not look harmful, but that did not mean she wouldn't be a problem. By her reaction to his earlier question, she was completely oblivious as to whose carriage she stowed away upon. He couldn't help but wonder if she was a fool, and hoped that she would soon be gone, for her own good. Without common sense and skills to survive, being with mercenaries would get you killed in a heartbeat. He did not want an innocent's blood on his hands, and if she was with them when she died, Razeluxe would consider that as good as killing her himself. It was how he handled things, and he had a sense of responsibility for those around him.

By now, the carriage turned into the equivalent of a party, with just about everyone from the camp all checking the scene out, and most agreeing to just let Henry deal with it. Although Raze did take notice his fellow elf hadn't appeared yet. Anyway, while it SHOULD be the leader's responsibility, Raze had no real desire to deal with the situation, hoping that it would deal with itself. This, of course, turned out to be a huge mistake on Razeluxe's end, as Henrietta decided to promise the stowaway a place to hang out. Namely; with them. And he had just been thinking about the possibility of her getting killed just by being around them....

"Don't just decide things like that by yourself, Henrietta." his tone was strict, and like most of the others in the camp, he normally just called her Henry. He was prepared for any arguments about the girl, but he was ultimately going to forbid the stranger from accompanying them. There were many things wrong with it besides the risk of life, such as that they would need even more supplies than they had, they'd have to be able to trust her, and she would have to be able to carry her own weight. Family or not, nobody here did get to slack around. There would be no exceptions. Hopefully Henry could understan----

"Oh, hey Raze, what did the Queen want?" Shyc asked, seemingly recovered from earlier, and completely oblivious to Razeluxe's prior statement. Well, it was like him.

"Ya Raze, let's hear what her majesty has to say, and Shyn, don't go throwing around crates like that, someone could get hurt." she joined in, then adding, "Oh and if everyone's cool with it, Our dear runaway over here is going to join us until she can return 'home'."

Razeluxe couldn't help but narrow his eyes at her, using that situation to seal the argument before it begun. For now. He'd definitely deal with the situation at a later time, but for now he could just answer it since it was on their minds. "Another mission." Raze explained. "We'll be acting as the Queen's eyes for this one. Nothing complicated, just seeing what Lyura's military is up to. However... it's a mission from the Queen, so don't screw this up and we'll be content with the reward, I'm sure." Royalty did know how to pay, after all, and Razeluxe was a fan of that pay. It kept them fed and their weapons sharp. In fact, the Queen was likely to give them enough to take a while off, hopefully. The idea that they could relax for more than a day at a time really excited the young half-elf. No fighting, no working, just some shut-eye and interaction between the rest of the crew. What more could he want?

Nothing, that's what.

"Now that that's settled with, enjoy the company of our 'guest' for a bit longer, I suppose. If she's willing. However, about her staying with us, when she appears as though she knows not of combat... well, we'll discuss it later." with that, he took his leave. And as fate would have it, another 'guest' had appeared, leaning against a tree further up the road.

Guess I'm not going back to sleep anytime soon.

It was a shame, but he was not one to cry over spilled milk... or rest. Or to cry in general, honestly. But I digress. Unsure as to what this eccentrically-dressed man wanted with him, he approached. Not that the mask made him approachable or anything. "I apologize if I kept you waiting, sir. I shall assume you know where you are? Do state your business being here, if that is the case."

"Shyc brought back a woman."

To this, Shyc bristled, his eyes closing tightly as he turned to Raze and announced his disagreement, most like a young kid, "I didn't bring her with me! She just jumped in when I wasn't looking," he puffed out a cheek as he looked at their leader. For all of his fighting and teasing, pranks and getting into trouble with the man, Raze was probably the number one person out of their group that Shyc really looked up to. Which might explain why the youth tried too hard sometimes.

With a sigh, he turned back to Zefar and Kai only to notice that Kai had missed Shyc's showing off the jewel's completely. He frowned even more as he watched the other mercenary wander about a bit before disappearing into a tent. His teeth grit together as his face flushed for a moment. What is he doing? Shyc thought frantically. Then he heard Henry's voice chiding him for throwing the crates. Henry then added that their runaway was going to stay with them for a while, which cheered up Shyc. New people were always interesting.

"Another mission. We'll be acting as the Queen's eyes for this one. Nothing complicated, just seeing what Lyura's military is up to. However... it's a mission from the Queen, so don't screw this up and we'll be content with the reward, I'm sure." Raze's voice said rising above theirs to be heard.

Shyc frowned, "So far..." he muttered with a heavy sigh but then, orders were orders and even he would follow them. The young mercenary returned his attention to the prior statement and he looked over to Henry with a mischievous look in his gaze.

Turning to her, he called out, "And I didn't throw the crate, it was on my chest and it was super heavy, so mean... It's no wonder that people mistake you for a boy rather than a girl, Henry. You should be nicer, like a girl," he teased and then quickly scrambled behind Zefar, using the taller man as his personal shield. Fingers curling into the fabric that hung along Zefar's arm, Shyc peeked out from behind the mercenary and stuck his tongue out at Henry whom he was sure to be about ready to throw something at him. The boy laughed though as he hid there, meaning no harm whatsoever, it was just his way of showing his friendship to those around him.

"Here Zefar! This one is for you," he said brightly, passing an amber colored jem to him, "And this one is for you, Henry," he yelled at her and threw a purple one at her before quickly getting out of her range. After getting away from danger, he made his way over to Kai and promptly sat himself upon the barrel so that Kai could see him properly and also so that the barrel wouldn't go any farther.

"Hey Kai," he beamed brightly. Digging through his stash of jewels he found the one he'd wanted and held it up at Kai's face, probably a bit too close for comfort but all the same, "This one is for you. You walked away while I was trying to give them to you guys. Do you like it? It's blue just like your hair," he said with a wide smile. He laughed a bit and bounced up and down on the barrel which moved under him and with a startled gasp he flailed a bit before falling backwards heavily onto his back. With both legs still up on the barrel, Shyc winced a bit as he rubbed the back of his head.

He gave an embarrassed grin and shorter laugh as he lay there, "Heh... Anyway, you should take this back. Raze'll get really angry with you, you know. Besides, I already got you more ale, it's in the crate... I'm sure Raze wouldn't get mad about you having a flask of it... but a barrel most definitely," Shyc said, rambling a bit as he untangled himself from the barrel and put his hands on it to start rolling it back to the tent that Kai had got it from. Hopefully he'd get it back there before there was too much trouble to be had, that was, if Kai let him.

"Well if that's the case, you can always come with us. I was a runaway myself only 2 years ago and besides it will be nice to have another girl in the group. So runaway, what's your name?" The girl said as Sakura clambered out of the carriage and stood on her two feet next to the somewhat shorter woman.

"Uh.. I'm Sakura," she answered, forgoing her last name as she was pretty sure it was unnecessary.

"Don't just decide things like that by yourself, Henrietta." the deeper voice belonged to the first person who had confronted her other than the guy -Shyc was it?- who had screamed earlier. In a matter of minutes she found out his name too, it was Raze and it seemed that he was the one in charge of all of the people that had gathered around.

The Queen's orders? My mother? What could she possibly want these people to do? Oh yeah, he'd said that this was a mercenary camp... what does that mean exactly... she pondered as she watched with wide eyes at the energy that surrounded them all.

Shyc was especially lively as he teased Henry who was standing right next to Sakura and then ran away. Probably for good reason too, Sakura was sure. Her gaze swept the camp site. The old tavern that was probably the most run down, a few tents here and there and a hammock strung out between two large trees. The fresh smell of grass and pine, the cool wind through the trees and her hair... how refreshing. A smile pulled at her lips as she drunk it all in.

"Now that that's settled with, enjoy the company of our 'guest' for a bit longer, I suppose. If she's willing. However, about her staying with us, when she appears as though she knows not of combat... well, we'll discuss it later."

"Yes! I want to stay, please," she said, hearing a bit of a pleading tone in her own voice which she winced at slightly. Raze didn't seem all too intent on her being with them, and thus made her feel even more obliged to prove that she wouldn't be a burden of any sort. She would learn how things worked with them as quickly as possible, starting with....

"Henry," she called, turning to the other woman and looking into her gaze with Sakura's eyes being very firm and serious, "What is a mercenary?"

"Another mission. We'll be acting as the Queen's eyes for this one. Nothing complicated, just seeing what Lyura's military is up to. However... it's a mission from the Queen, so don't screw this up and we'll be content with the reward, I'm sure." Henry grinned slightly, she loved fighting but a bit of relaxation should be nice every once in a while.

"Now that that's settled with, enjoy the company of our 'guest' for a bit longer, I suppose. If she's willing. However, about her staying with us, when she appears as though she knows not of combat... well, we'll discuss it later." Henry's smiled quickly turned into a frown, okay maybe the girl didn't know how to fight but she didn't see anything wrong with the girl staying as long as she could pull her own weight. However before Henry could voice an arguement the girl beat her to the punch line, "Yes! I want to stay, please,", Pleading? Okay that might work but with Raze you could never be sure, but in those case it probably wouldn't.

"Don't worry about it to much, I can probably talk him round..." She trailed off, the sentence was more for hope than anything else, oh ya she could probably talk him around with a bit of screaming and annoying him and temper tantrums until he was so annoyed and just gave up, which she really didn't want to do as it was degrading to act that way... Or maybe he would be nice for once and they could just have a pleasant, civil argument...

"Henry, What is a mercenary?" Henry froze, how could she not know what a mercenary was? Almost everyone did, most people had seen them, hired them or worked with them. Shaking her head she gave the (SLIGHTLY!) taller women an amused smile before answering her question, "We fight for money basically, though we do do other type of missions, like assassination and Recon, usually the missions work with one of the groups specialises. Say me for example, I'm a trained assassin, this means we can take on assassin missions." she finished easily, it was her description of what they did.

"And I didn't throw the crate, it was on my chest and it was super heavy, so mean... It's no wonder that people mistake you for a boy rather than a girl, Henry. You should be nicer, like a girl," Henry froze in surprise for a second before turning a heated glare at shyn who was running away to hide behind Zefar, so damn typical that was!

"You Brat! Just wait till I get you! I am not a boy!" she yelled in anger as she ran towards the boy who was taking cover, before having to stop as suddenly a small, purple, spinning Jem came flying at her. Catching ire as I'll she was distracted from the boy who ran away to hide with Kai, leaving Henry to look at the Jem. It was pretty, guess Shyn can be forgiven this time.

"Sorry about that," She said as she turned to walk back to Sakura, realising she had just run off and left the girl, "Shyn just knows how to wind people up, so sakura just had to make sure, but do you actually know how to fight?" She was slightly curious, and if the girl could fight than maybe her temper tantrum with Raze could be avoided! praise The Lord!

Compose yourself, don't freak out, just calm down..., for a couple of seconds, Zefar just stood there, breathing out and in without letting anyone notice, and slipped even further away from the cart, letting Sync troubles being unseen. Usually, he would help anyone out without expecting anything in return; however, it was obvious that today wasn't particularly one of his best days. To Zefar's relief though, no one seems to have perceived his slightly different state of mind, given them to be busy concerning themselves with the current situation.

It took Zefar not long to settle down and follow the events afterwards; which appeared rather ominous. There was no doubt that Zefar did not believe the story the girl presented..., which made her suspicious. Although it was obvious that this girl did not own that certain filth within her scent and face, Zefar was never able to completely pass women (in general) as innocent or harmless. He experienced various things which he still remembered as a memory, dearly or not, even until now. Most of them came back as nightmares, with women to be the cause of it -- probably the reason he preferred men. The only reason he let Henry talk to her was to fully comprehend her true intention by hearing her out… but that appears to have failed. He can’t seem to understand what she actually wanted. Distrust made him stare at her eyes a tad bit too long, which secret intention he only covered with a mere smile. Not really holding any gentleness, only professional sympathy services.

"Another mission. We'll be acting as the Queen's eyes for this one. Nothing complicated, just seeing what Lyura's military is up to. However... it's a mission from the Queen, so don't screw this up and we'll be content with the reward, I'm sure."

As his attention averted to the words the leader had told them, he caught an individual from the corners of eye, not far from the place he stood. Gazing to the direction he thought it was, a rather eye-catching figure leaned there, seemingly watching the group of mercenaries. It was truly a tad bit disturbing and suspicious, but there is no special threat about him or any bad intentions, or so Zefar's instincts told him. Although he isn't completely convinced about the significance the masked man was, he had an apprehension that he wasn't a mere passer-by. Well, who would be? Most of people preferred to stay out of problems, or so it was logical. A familiar noise awoke him from his gaze, as suddenly Henry glared at his direction... or to be exact, to Shyc who was behind him, using him like so often as a shield. Although it was kind of noisy, Zefar enjoyed it nonetheless and felt amusement within those now daily little quarrels. Probably a prove that those two getting along fairly well with each other.

"Well, aren't you both cheerful today?,", he said, as always letting him sound like an old geezer. "Don't you mind him Henry, I heard that boys tend to tease the girl they like,"When he received the gift from Shyr though, he could only frown. He disliked how Shyc is stealing things as he pleased, because he helt to the conviction that one should work for their belongings, and to thieve didn't belong to the division 'work', did it? "Where did you take this from, Shyc?,", he asked very seriously and strict, though afterwards he went off somewhere else, leaving Henry, the woman and Zefar behind. Raze on the other hand already went for the other guest. He trusted Raze to do the right thing, and due to that he didn't concern himself any further with it, allowing him to put all his attention to Sakura.

"Really, today is an odd one. Truly a rare occasion and I thought we have time to relax!,", although his voice conveys a significant carefree attitude, there was a slight discomfort, given that he had to do something with this new woman who called herself 'Sakura'. "I doubt it, to be honest,", said Zefar by the question of Henry while still keeping the distance between him and the female individuals. "And Miss... Sakura, is it? You’re well aware that I can't trust your words entirely, aren’t you?,", he firmly stated. " I hope you understand myself asking questions concerning yourself only for the sake of our groups safety," Afterwards, his smile appeared, not warm, but less distant. "However, I think you will just get along well with Henry. Right Henry?,", he asked, indirectly gave the responsibility to her concerning Sakura. Well, not like this couldn’t be foreseen. She was the one wanting her to join in anyway. "Well then, may I invite you to a drink within the tent?,", by having said that, it was only common sense to offer a hand to help her step out of the cart.

"You Brat! Just wait till I get you! I am not a boy!" Henry shouted, shaking her fist in the air, but she halted in her steps as she snatched something out of the air as Shyc had tossed something at her.

"Don't you mind him Henry, I heard that boys tend to tease the girl they like," the man whom Shyc had hid behind said with a gentle smile and soft voice.

Sakura shifted her gaze between both Henry and the hooded man who had remained with them while the others had seemed to scurry off to do other things. Well, at least Shyc had scurried off, although he had tossed back at the hooded man that he most certainly did not like Henry in that sense. Sakura giggled at this. It was still fun to watch the young man so energetically rushing about. Although he did avoid the question of where he'd gotten those jewel's altogether, that or he just hadn't heard. This left the princess wondering where he'd gotten them too, especially since it seemed that Shyc was the more mischievous out of the group.

"Sorry about that, Shyc just knows how to wind people up, so Sakura just had to make sure, but do you actually know how to fight?"

"I doubt it, to be honest," the male mercenary said, though his voice wasn't harsh. Still it cut straight to the truth.

To this, Sakura blushed as she gazed at Henry. Oh no... how do I answer this... she thought frantically. He'd hit the mark, that much was for certain. Slowly she let her head fall down as she nodded a bit.

"Yes, it's true, I don't know how to fight, but I'm more than willing to learn! Would you teach me? I wasn't allowed to know anything when I was in captivity. I've only known a single room for most of my life, please I want to learn all there is to know!"

"And Miss... Sakura, is it? You’re well aware that I can't trust your words entirely, aren’t you?" the hooded mercenary said as he turned to address her and Sakura bit her lip.

"I hope you understand myself asking questions concerning yourself only for the sake of our groups safety. However, I think you will just get along well with Henry. Right Henry?" he continued.

Even Sakura could hear the words of responsibility given to Henry about Sakura's joining them from the man's voice. She glanced over to Henry hoping that the girl would accept in having Sakura with her and helping to have Sakura learn the ropes of this small group. Her fingers intertwined together and clenched lightly as she watched the exchange.

"Well then, may I invite you to a drink within the tent?"

"Yes, of course," she answered a bit stiffly, her voice low. Of course it was to be expected that at least one of the people in the group would find her suspicious. Sakura hadn't even expected it to go as good as it had. She glanced around the group, more specifically looking for Razeluxe who had been the first to see her. She found him on the other side of the camp approaching someone who looked to have been standing on the edge of the camp for quite a while. She couldn't get a good glimpse until Raze moved a bit and her heart jumped a bit.

Oh no! Someone from the castle! I've been found out... she thought frantically, her heart racing which in turn began to hurt a bit. She winced and quickly turned away. Too soon! Way too soon for this! her fingers clenched tightly as she tried to keep the pain from her features. Sakura hoped that the two she was standing with wouldn't be looking all that closely. Breathing hurt a bit so she took shallow, slower breathes in an attempt to calm herself from the sudden shock.

Shyc looked up from where he'd been trying to coerce Kai to return the barrel of ale. He'd been hoping that his words of having brought the young man a flask from the market would change his mind from stealing the barrel from the tent. It was then that he'd noticed someone else on the edge of the camp to which Raze was striding over to. He immediately stopped what he was doing, his interests elsewhere then and stood up straight. Reaching upwards he pushed his hand through his hair with a bit of a grin.

"Hey look Kai! More people! Man, today is a strange one isn't it? It's been a while since we've had so much attention... Er well, the good kind of attention is what I mean. Nothing like those damn bandits and irritated shop keepers and the like you know?" he said, rambling on as usual. Glancing over to Kai he smiled, giving a bit of a laugh as he did so.

"Hmm, wonder what that guy wants... I'm sure Raze'll tell us when he finds out."

Merialeth Riverblosem

It was the 9th of Frostfall and since I was a youngling that only meant one thing in my mind. It was time to pay homage to Erevan liesere the elven God of trickery and deceit. I left the group a few days ago to begin my pilgrimage as is custom on this day. Of course I didn’t tell them what I was doing, it was hardly their business anyway this was a moment for me to be alone with Erevan liesere.
I traveled to the shine of Erevan Liesere; along my way others joined me however to fully embrace Erevan one must travel to his shine alone and unwatched so we parted way after a short time. Although all was not loss, the pilgrim did help me secure a sacrifice for my Lord a golden locket that seemed to mean a great deal to her. How fortunate, when this little trinket found its ways into my hands.

As I made my way back to camp, I seemed to find myself wander on the embers and ancient group of tombs describing to priest and pilgrims the power and might of Erevan Liesere. A tear withdrew from my eye as I gazed upon the tomb that read; “Honor amongst Thieves.” I had just broken that tomb, when that little locket found its way into my hand. How foolish I had been, I forgot this tomb this sacred truth of my people.

As I continued down the mountain, I read on “Thou shalt rob an honest man.”
“Shadows are an extension of thy self.” And so on…
Most of the tombs were harmless sayings that really had no deeper meaning then to tell a story. Others the more pivoted ones told ways to live your life and be in favor with Erevan Liesere. Many of these more sincere ones I had broken in my lifetime, perhaps even twice, was Erevan looking down on my actions as a consequence of this?

The next morning; I continued my way back to the camp with a much grief ridden mind set. After a few days I approached a smoke pile that I thought to be the others, I heard voiced peering from the direction. Many of them I knew, but there was one I did not, it was younger and naïve apart from the others. A new member or trouble I thought as I braced myself into the clearing ready to grab my bow if anything were to surprise me. I saw the groups with the stranger, no hostile intent seemed present I opened my mouth in a melodramatic tone.

“I heard your voices nearly a mile away, what did I miss wail I was gone?” I asked looking at the group; my eyes looked tired I had not slept in a day. My body ached and all I wanted to do was rest, I was getting far too old for this anymore I would retire if I had the funds but alas for a comfortable retirement I would need a good chunk more to make it worth my while.

Asteridax Morzän

Asteridax had counted the seconds when some of the inhabitants began noticing him, and only then did a minute or two had passed when one particular being approached him - a half-elf.

I apologize if I kept you waiting, sir. I shall assume you know where you are? Do state your business being here, if that is the case.

The words flowed from the stranger's lips, and upon closer inspection, the sorcerer recognized the half-elf as a male, somewhere in his early twenties, though he anticipated the elfling before him would be much older than what he appeared.

"I know exactly where I am. It's not difficult to find a group of mercenaries as yourself with the amount of noise you generate, now is it?" He gestured towards the rest of the mercenaries. Shifting his weight, lifting himself from the trunk, the sorcerer continued. "I do apologize, I am Lord Morzän, personal advisor to Her Majesty. Now, you asked for what my business is, straight to the point, I like that. I'm under the direct orders of the Queen herself to... oversee a particular group of mercenaries to make sure that they carry out a special mission without much difficulty."

Asteridax straightened himself, correcting his posture while taking a small breath in before continuing on.

"Now that I've introduced myself formally, now who would you be, and when shall we start?"

Henry had to physically suppress the shiver that racked her body at the thought of Shyr liking her, "That's just... No... Just no." She said quickly, quickly giving herself a shake.

"Really, today is an odd one. Truly a rare occasion and I thought we have time to relax! I doubt it, to be honest," Zefar said to answer her question before sakura nodded her head in confirmation straight after, saying she would love to learn. Giving a small sigh, Henry couldn't suppress the small laugh that escaped her. She had her work cut out for her with this one, no fighting experience and a runaway. Honestly, what did she think she was going to do in the big bad world if she hadn't found them.

"Don't worry sakura, I will teach you all I know, and trust me that's a lot. After all we runaways have to stick together."She said as she gave the women a reassuring smile, though sakura wasn't as small as she was, she would probably be able to able to modify her fighting style to suit the taller build.

"And Miss... Sakura, is it? You’re well aware that I can't trust your words entirely, aren’t you?, I hope you understand myself asking questions concerning yourself only for the sake of our groups safety. However, I think you will just get along well with Henry. Right Henry?" Zefar said with a pointed look towards Henry who just stuck her tongue out in return, honestly did they really think she would just invite a girl to join them and not take responsibility?!

"Don't mind him Sakura, we all have our secrets and we don't have to spill them till we are ready." She said while giving Zefar her own pointed look, before following the two towards Zefars tent for some drinks. "The guys are just really suspicious, if you were a danger I would never of invited you in so you can relax a bit." She finished off whispering in the girls ear before she noticed Merialeth entering the camp and grinned, boy had she missed out because of that little trip she took.

“I heard your voices nearly a mile away, what did I miss wail I was gone?”, Merialeth said as she entered the camp before giving it a once over. Smiling, Henry sent the other women a wave and beckoned her over before presenting sakura with an over exaggerated flourish, "Welcome back Meri, this is Sakura. She's a runaway and I want her to join us but Raze is making a fuss... Wanna be my best friends and convince him for me seeing as you both elves?" She asked as she put on her super innocent face, family must count for something right... Even if it was really, really, really, really, really, reallllllly distant family... Or just even the same race must count for something... "Anywho, we are heading for drinks with Zefar, wanna join us and we can fill you in?" She asked while sending the women a smile, resuming her journey towards the tent.

Given that Henry was fairly overprotective of her made him on the one hand rest assured, on the other anxious. She was too trusting and that worried him. Even though he could relate to her sympathy, there are endless things which aren’t as it seems and unless Henry did not understand that, they’re not going anywhere with this. That’s why, he approved of her presence within their circles. Additionally, he had to admit that Sakura was indeed getting more and more harmless in his eyes, probably due a certain naïveté swinging within the words in which she expressed herself. Was it really mere act? Even Zefar began to doubt it. Nonetheless, he stayed alerted. He merely needed to observe her demeanours, and if she is proven to be suspicious, he’ll just get rid of her like any other who was trying to deceive the groups trust.

"Don't mind him Sakura, we all have our secrets and we don't have to spill them till we are ready."

Zefar merely frowned, slightly shook his head. Henry did not understand him, like any other day. Must she be as carefree as Shyc in this kind of important matters? He only tried to prevent them to be killed when light was out and everyone was sleeping, due to that time any other assassin would have attempted to launch an attack. Even though her remark just hurt him quite a bit, he smiled to brush it off. If Henry didn’t regard her as suspicious, she should do it. Nonetheless, Zefar was only able to decide after talking to her more seriously. His hand however, which he’d stretched out for her remained cold in the air without any sense of significance. She did answer to his invitation (well, not like Zefar gave her much too choose) but her attention was scattered elsewhere, her eyes seem to be fixed on something particular. Zefar followed her eyes and figured she’d stared at the other guest with the mask, and Zefar deemed that there was a certain turmoil going on inside her when regarding her eyes. The appropriate thought probably had to be: Is that her kidnapper? On the other hand, there was a difference between the fears Zefar anticipated that she felt. In any way, he contemplated it as necessary for them, both Sakura and the masked man, to meet. Yes, probably with that, he’d receive information regarding the two of them.

“Marialeth! Good to see you! However… you seem very tired. Why don’t you lie down in the tent? Shyc and Kai are present there, they’ll probably better off watched by you,” He uttered with a friendly countenance. “For the drink in the tent… I am afraid, that have to wait. I prefer us to greet the other guest now, don’t you agree, Henry? … Sakura?,” With a smile covering up his true intentions, he didn’t left Henry much choice to choose from, as well as Sakura, who couldn’t afford to act suspicious now. She would accompany him to the guest, and that won’t be interfered yet. By slightly telling her to step forward first, you could say he gently pushed her up front, closing to the other guest who had entered the scene. He caught some of the words, but not entirely that he’d come to a clarity of how his presence was of any importance. “Sir, Raze,” He nodded politely towards both of them. “My name is Zefar. This is Henry and she is Sakura. I apologize to have bothered you within your conversation; I only deem it as necessary. I don’t regard it as appropriate to eavesdropping and so I might as well, participate,” It was a plain lie, but his sole purpose was to be accomplished and Zefar hoped Raze didn’t mind him interrupting. He stole a quick glance to Sakura’s demeanours and didn’t let any of her movements to be unnoticed. In the other hand, he smiled politely to the masked man without being able to figure out what there is so intimidating about him. Perhaps it is due to Zefar unable to see his face? In anyway, the man with his graceful attitude wasn’t from the streets that’s for sure.
