Description
Name: Kurtis T. Johnson (sometimes coined as "Big Kurt", or "Kurtabulous")
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Spirit Animal: Raven
Take on Ability: Uses it as a means to escape his normal life. Used to do it every night as a child, but now rarely does it once a week as an adult. ... Used it more-so in the past when his cousin or one of his friends are up to no good, as a means of keeping them in check, and making sure they're not making bad decisions or hanging around with the wrong people.
Appearance: An energetic black male with an upbeat attitude; easy to get along with and is often found at the center of attention, either joking around with his close friends or hanging around with other people around campuses or bars. He is often seen sporting a black coat covering a stylish t-shirt, jeans, and a smile on his face.
Appearance (animal): When in animal form, Kurtis takes on the form of a raven, which is oddly larger than most ravens in comparison. When in this form, he often stays a suitable distance away from whatever is grabbing his attention, and find his disguise ideal for peeking in on situations or conversations that are happening nearby. He rarely uses this form for any amount of conflict, but is not opposed to getting in close and flying in someones face or snatching something important.
Personality
Personality: Kurtis is a very likable, charismatic person, usually out on the town having fun with his larger circle of friends, or enjoying some time with his closer friends of whom he considers family. In many situations, he is the breakout character, getting other people's spirits up and getting them to enjoy life to the fullest with him. In other situations, he is the serious caretaker, making sure that those closest to him are not falling down the wrong path. Both of these sides to him stem from an unfortunate childhood living in a broken home for most of his life, having to endure a lot of trials at home and amongst his family. He has decided long ago never to let the past haunt him, and instead enjoy the present and make sure others are not making the same mistakes he made. When faced with drama, he is quick to put his foot down and stand his ground, while not dwelling on the old.

History
BIO: From a young age, Kurtis was the joker in his class, and this was something that often got him in trouble early on, both at school and at home. When his father left the family, he was forced to be the one to help look after his sister and his cousin, especially when his mother began drinking soon after. He did the best he could to make sure this side of his life didn't overflow into school, and those close to him often didn't know how much trouble was going on at home. When his mother finally went to rehab when he was a teenager, he kept on as the man of the house, even making sure that she did not relapse into drinking, or that his cousin wasn't getting into trouble at school himself. When he joined high-school, he joined the football team and quickly became linebacker, making himself very popular at his school. While he had plenty of friends this way, he still had a close affinity to his childhood friends.
All the while, whenever he needed to spy on a relative, or take note to any drama or dangerous situations between his friends (including one of his friends being apprentice to a drug dealer), he would revert to his Raven form to he could keep an eye on everybody, and then take the necessary action to make sure friends and relatives were not getting in over their heads. This constant set of trials throughout his young adult, and soon adult life, made him somewhat distant from his childhood friends at times, since part of it made him feel like a freak of nature. He knew the only way to justify such a gift was to use it for the better of those around him.
When he finally arrived at the time for graduation, he had high hopes to going to college for Business,... or perhaps even Social Work. ... This would surely mean that he would be split up from the rest of his friends, and so he was more than willing to join them on a final journey together and make the best out of their trip. Who could have known that this trip would end in a full submersion in a realm of mystery, where he would come face to face with the consequences of a rugged past.
So begins...
That was too easy. Gideon didnāt think taking on the lion would have gone over so smoothly. But now he faced an even bigger problem ā Walt finding out. He had wanted to run away, but he couldnāt do that. He had to stay. These were his friends and family. He had to make sure they were okay. Who else was going to protect them? Turning, he listened to the sounds Walt was making. The boy was in pain that much was sure. He really couldnāt leave.
Sighing almost in defeat, he stayed where he was. This allowed the coyote to see him. To see him for what he was and to see his eyes; it wasnāt a pleasant feeling as he stood there under the scrutinizing gaze of his friend. And then the other male started growling at him. Yeah, because no one believes that I could be alive. Iām dead. I died. They donāt get it. Theyāre dead now too. He shook his head. He wasnāt sure what he needed to do to prove that he was a friend and not an enemy because shifting back wasnāt an option right now.
But, he could always try it againā¦ Waltā¦ donāt. Gideon hoped that he could hear him. It didnāt always work since he didnāt have many people to practice it on. So he only had a little bit of background knowledge on how it all worked and that little knowledge was what he was relying on to save his skin.
All the teen wanted to do was to rub his face against his friend even though he was a cat and the other a dog. He was too excited about seeing his friends, avoiding the fact that meant they were dead for the most part; to really care what happened to him. So fight or not, how much damage could Walt do in the shape he was now?
Gideon took a risk and leaned out and rubbed the side of his face against the coyoteās a few times before leaning back to where he was now. He sat down to look as now threatening as he could. Wonder how the others are doingā¦ Aeryn, Ellen, Luke, Isabelle, Tomas, Kurt, Serena... He thought to himself, but didnāt move his head to look in the other direction for them. He had to trust that they were okay. The gang would all be together again even if it was under the worst of circumstances. He was happy to not be alone anymore.
There were no words to describe the feelings of relief when Aeryn had seen Tomas come into view; at least she had hoped the bear had been her friend. When he shifted back, she breathed a small breath of relief, but it was short lived. She repressed the gulp that wanted to follow and turned her attention back to Walt as she continued to try and stop his bleeding.
To Tomasā questions, she wasnāt sure where to start at. But she nodded to head to begin. āUhā¦ yeah maybeā¦ I had a cougar or puma, whichever.ā She shook her head as she fought back the tears that threatened to spill. She was so not crying here. Not in front of the guys, even if it was only two of them. Sheād cried in front of Isabelle before so that no was problem. But the other lynx? She hadnāt even decided if it was her brother yet or not. But she had cried since the day heād died. Lie. She cried any real time she actually thought about her twin.
āAll I know is that heās wounded and I canāt get the bleeding to stop. He mightā¦ even need stitches. We donāt know where weāre at or how we got hereā¦ā She kept trying to continue, but didnāt know how. āWeā¦ we were at a fire and then something started chasing us. We made it this farā¦ before we got attacked.ā She was scared, but she wasnāt going to say that. Admitting it would be worse than having to deal with it on her own. Especially since most of their group was still missing: Luke, Ellen, Serena, and Kurt.
As much as the others thought of her as a leader most of the time, she knew she wasnāt. She wasnāt the strong person they believed her to be. She wanted everything to get better, but it didnāt seem like that was going to be happening any time soon. āAnd Iāve got something in my leg that burns, and I canāt even deal with that because Walt is more important.ā She hoped Tomas would have an idea on something to do. Maybe Isabelle would. But right now Walt was all she could focus on. Sheād lost her brother, her own twin. She couldnāt lose Walt too.
