a character in “Mi Amor”, as played by ChildOfNone

Helen Fiori

Apparent age:

Human two

Helen stands at a rather short height of 4’8” with a petite and slim body to accompany her tininess. She weighs no more than 132 pounds or so read the scale since she last weighed herself. Her complexion is that of pale creamy softness that complements her rust colored eyes or caramel hued if you’d prefer to name it that way. Her small peachy pale lips go pretty well with her heart shaped face and other delicate features. Oddly enough, her hair varies on a white hue. Should you see it in light it may just look pure white but while under moonlight it takes on a blue tint that almost makes it look like strands of silver. Her hair falls in waves and ends precisely at her tiny waist.
Most of her attire consists of simple designs or cuts. Her clothes vary from traditional kimonos to casual dresses. Most of her clothing is dyed in neutral colors though if you asked her what her preferred color is she’d answer with a very dark red. While she dresses rather plainly, Helen loves to accessorize with eye-catching trinkets. Said trinkets could be anything from detailed ribbons to rather striking flowers. Other than that she doesn’t much stand out.

Helen, for a lack of a better word, can be said to be very broken. She is a very vulnerable person because of her past life and still quite innocent. She’s kind, friendly and polite to everyone with no exception. Believing that everyone has a good side to them she is very forgiving and understanding of everyone’s situations. Her naïve outlook on life has made it so that people tend to use her easily. Though, in all honesty if she is being used she knows full well of it but tends to overlook it for the happiness of others. Quite frankly, Helens only desire is to please others. In a way she believes if she makes others’ lives a bit simpler they may grow to like her.
When she is overcome by emotions such as sadness or anger she does so in silence because she doesn’t want anyone to feel burdened by them. Hiding her feelings from other has taken a toll on her persona to where she has become extremely sensitive and her feelings don’t pass and go. They linger in her until she can’t bottle them up inside. In the case that that ever occurs, she will hold it in until she is in solitude. From there she will just… let go.
Now, simply because she is a somewhat frail person does not mean she doesn’t have her moments where she can be kinda rude. In these small and rare cases she grumbles plenty and sometimes even yells. But at the end of it all she feels guilty and will apologize profusely for her behaviour. All in all, Helen is a person who gives out a lot of love and wishes for love in return (but would never demand it, of course).

~Music: simply because it soothes her in her emotional stages and because she enjoys it.
~Art: as she can’t really express herself well with spoken words she pours herself into her creations.
~Sewing: while she herself never wears extravagant and fine clothing she does love to create them for others.
~Trinkets: by trinkets, she would mean small accessories made by things she finds. All handmade of course; it’s basically arts and crafts.
~Baking: it’s another outlet for her. Though she doesn’t really eat anymore she loves the whole decorating cakes or cupcakes process.
~Housekeeping: really, she has no idea why she likes this but she has always kept things orderly and clean in her past life.
~Children: it’s their innocence, that’s all there is to it.
~Reading/Books: an escape. Now, Helen is rather picky with what she reads; never nonfiction books and never ones that hit too close to her past.
~Everyone in the manor: Helen is just like that. Many may and can dislike her but she will always like or love others no matter how cruel they are toward her.
~And a whole barrel of other things!

~Feeling unwanted: it’s the feeling that she hates and fears the most though truth be told she feels this way all the time.
~Upsetting others: she absolutely won’t tolerate upsetting people. Besides making her feel guilty she would also feel that she has failed in her life’s mission to make others happy. Should she upset anyone she would immediately feel unworthy of living.
~Silence: it gives her too much room to think about things she’d rather not think of at all.
~Boring clothing: while she herself wears plain simple things she absolutely can’t stand the site of others wearing something completely unappealing.
~Untidiness: it’s not so much the mess that she can’t stand it more of the idea that she hadn’t cleaned it in the first place.
~Bright lights: don’t even ask.
~And a few other things!

Helen is a great artist though she would never flatter herself by saying so. She’s a pretty good actress. Has a good eye for detail and an abundant amount of imagination that helps with the things she creates.

Helen never lived a very happy life. She was the middle child of three daughters and was often the one who was responsible for everything. Her mother favoured her elder sister while her father adored the younger one of them. Simply put she was the child they neglected and didn’t much care for. From this neglect came Helens need to please other, especially her parents. But all was wasted on them and the others.

Helens father ran a small bed and breakfast that slowly became more famous by the day. Since her father was occupied with financially keeping up the B&B and still affording her younger sisters wants and needs AND her mother busy with introducing her eldest to society, Helen took it upon herself to make things go smoother at the B&B. As always, she hoped her effort would bring her closer to her family but of course, it did not.

Years passed and her older and younger sister were married off. With the absence of their preferred children her parents grew colder and more distant from her than before. It was in those years that her mother died of a disease. While her father has never been particularly nice to her he had always been at least slightly civil when her mother was around. But since her death Helens father turned cruel and abusive. He’d take his anger out on her until her body was covered in bruises and blood. Sadly, through it all, Helen still loved her father dearly and tried to make him as happy as she could… with no luck.

She met Sabine Cayne after many years of her father’s abuse and harsh treatment. She had been out on her usual errands buying supplies for the B&B but on that day she had stalled going back home. She had stopped and watched people around her and even browsed around a few shops. The sun was setting when she encountered the male. He seemed like a good person though to Helen anyone could be a good person. But he gave her attention like no one ever had. She had accepted the drink he offered without knowing that his blood laced it. Without knowing what the effects would be. And as they say, the rest was history.

Feelings on others:
(Excerpts from her diary)

“I feel as if he’s mad at me but have no clue as to why. This is what it seemed to me when I first met him. And yet he was absolutely polite and very helpful. Oh, but what a beauty he is! Had I not noticed the small masculine features here and there I might have been deceived into thinking of him as a woman. I still feel the need to dress him up in lovely women’s attire. I find him to be very much like a leading man. He has that orderly feel about him and he takes his responsibilities seriously. One can notice the hard work he has done by the mansion itself and his own actions. I hope to learn and share many things with him in my stay here…
I noticed it today. That look! That splendid and wondrous image has filled my head! I can fully see the love Augustus has for Sabine. The devotion swirling in his eyes as well as the spark of life they get when near the Master. When I caught sight of it today it made me catch my breath and my finger itch with the urge to capture the emotion on parchment. I’ve actually started it. A simple sketch really but I hope to fill it with the love Augustus shone with. I wonder if I too will ever love that way…”

“Oh! Master has brought in someone new! She is absolutely wonderful and perfect! She’s so much liked I’d imagined a mother to be… a real mother… It scares me though, to think of her that way. What if she doesn’t like me? What if she hates me and feels completely affronted to be even the slightest bit near me? Yet, I still like to watch her and sometimes even maybe utter a word or two. She has a grace to her that I could never match and a voice dignified of a God. Truly she is a woman’s envy and a man’s desire. I could only hope to befriend such a person.”

“Another came this day. Actually to be precise two of them were brought in today. One was a woman and the other a man. To say that I was surprised by the man would be too vague a way to describe it. He is a complete flirt! I’d seen men act like him once or twice before around my eldest sister but never with me! It made me slightly flustered and yet agitated to have his attentions. Though I see he is not only that way towards me. I feel relieved by that small fact. It means he isn’t serious about it at all. I rather think it amuses him! Truthfully, that agitates me even more!
… I’ve finally stopped my cheeks from turning red. I think I’ve grown accustomed to his amorous ways. It’s actually quite a pleasant feeling to have someone’s attention. It reminds me of when I first met Master, although he was attentive in a different way. Still, I can’t help snapping at him once in a while for this reason or that and maybe lightly pushing him. I apologize immediately mind you…”

“The woman. I really like her. The first time I met her I actually thought of sunshine. Warm and comfortable she shines her light. And she is so expressive! I’ve actually finished a few sketches of her expressions. She is open and I feel rather nostalgic around her sometimes. I used to have a friend like her. My only friend. I guess you could say I feel at home with her. And I’ve only just met her!
…I read to her. I actually like it. She listens attentively to the way I read and how I say things. Sometimes I help her a bit with her letters and words. It’s truly fun and I feel useful as well. Ruth is simply precious. Oh! And her green thumb is magically divine! Augustus and she really do make beautiful flowers and a gorgeous garden.”

“Another man. This one is… different. We all are but he seems more… quiet than the rest. When I drew him today I found myself feeling quite sad. The way his face moved not once in show of emotion made me feel as if I had drawn nothing to begin with. His blank face drawn on a blank parchment. Somehow, color did not suite him. So I left his sketch black and white. To be honest I guess the absence of color suited him just fine and even brought out a bit of the life in the picture. I’m curious… what is it that he is trying to hide behind that stone mask of his? Or is it that he simply is that way?
…I found out something today. Artemus does have an interest! I saw him pick up a hat today. For a moment I actually saw the interest in his unexpressive eyes. I hope the library has a book on them. I’ve only made cloth hats before. I’m sure I’d need something other than cloth for other types of hats. Oh well! I’ll try my best. I think I might not be able to give it to him though… what if he gets mad for trying to give him something done unprofessionally? Well, I’ll think on that later.”

“A white china doll has been brought today! Well, not really but she looks like one. So delicate and lovely. Though I did wonder for a moment if she was ill. I’d only ever heard of albinos scarcely from time to time. I read today in the library a few things. So really, it’s not like she has an illness. She was just born rather different than us. I wonder if she’d let me make her some clothes. While I really wanted to draw her I’d felt the need to dress her up in pretty dresses. I suppose I do rather find her like a doll.
… She played with me! I haven’t ever played with anyone before. What with the B&B there just never seemed enough time for play. But it was so much fun! I’m thinking of making stuffed animals now. Truthfully, Colette reminds me a bit of my younger sister. Now if I can only find my special clothes…”

“Master has brought in a very peculiar man today. He was unconscious at first but when he awoke he threw such a fit! Really, I’m surprised all of us survived his rage. Actually, the man seemed madder at himself than with any of us. He threw a few hurtful words at the men but didn’t utter a word to the women. He just sort of nodded at us. I suppose he was just surprised by it all. I was, for a while. He’ll get used to it here. Might even like it.
… Nothing seems to have changed. Well, he talks now but only for brief moments. He’s actually quite nice sometimes when he allows himself to be. I find him to be brutally honest but I guess I’d rather hear the truth 0than be lied to. He told me he didn’t like me that much… but he also didn’t dislike me… what an odd way to put it. I admit I was hurt by his words and cried in the solitude of my room but I knew that he was only telling me what he felt. I hope I will be able to get along with him in the future.”

Sabine Cayne

Sabine didn't grasp the thoughts, the emotions afflicting his oldest pet. Perhaps because he only saw what he wanted to see or perhaps because he couldn't fathom such a reaction coming from his little Lark. That someone could be upset while he was so bright and excited. He looked after the dark haired man as he moved back into the room. Well, he was busy, that made sense, Sabine supposed. He'd come back later then and thank his little lark for cleaning more than was required from him. He reached down and lifted the little poppet up again, she'd run back to him after Augustus gave her a hug. Perhaps she was shy as well as mute. Of course, she'd only just been introduced to all these things, just picked up off the street. Considering, she was taking this whole thing rather well.

"Let us find the others and introduce you, yes?" He said as he carried her back down the stairs and through the halls.

Kalani Roman

After Ruth responded Kalani looked her over skeptically. The red-head didn't looked to pleased about having to remain 'calm and still' for any length of time, which the woman took to mean that she was alright in the grand sense of things. It looked like Artemis had things under control. That was a bit surprising, admittedly. Artemis, of all people. Maybe he was finally getting used to the manor. That was a good sign, his opening up. Now if she could just help Valentine out of his stiff shell. That didn't seem very likely without force, however, so Kalani thought she'd better leave him be.

Then the light haired young man began to read. The words on the page seemed to reach up and swipe him up, replacing him with some similar faced boy with a flowing voice and great amounts of inflection. His face was flushed, and he seemed to see nothing but the words on the page. Kalani decided it best to retreat again, and moved quietly to stand by Helen again. The young woman looked slightly troubled for a moment, but shook it off as Kalani neared. Curious. Kalani wondered what she was thinking. She noticed that the petite young woman had hidden her basket behind her skirts, and that made the faint creases of a frown line her forehead and mouth. Hopefully this wouldn't close her up again.

Sabine Cayne

Sabine passed Valentine and Nicolas again on his trek to the sitting room. He hadn't been upstairs for very long. "Come." He said shortly to them. He didn't want to make his speech too many more times. If he could get every one together it would make his life much easier. So to speak. Of course, he went out of his way to tell of Augustus, because he was, well, Augustus.

Then he made his way to the room again. Oh, Kalani and Helen were there now. That made everyone except for Collete. He'd find her later, he supposed. She was delicate, he could forgive her for being so little and fragile, for not wandering around. Perhaps she was still playing with the kitten he'd found. Ariel. He had a better pet than a cat now though. But perhaps the little girl would like a kitten. He had no clue what little girls liked, actually.

Once he emerged fully into the room, he stood for a moment, waiting for their attentions to be drawn to him. It appeared that Artemis was reading to Ruth. The other two were watching on. Once all the heads were turned towards him, he set Amara down again. "Look who I found." he said proudly, even though they were most likely already looking at the strange, wide eyed little girl. "She ran into me. She doesn't say much though. I call her Amara." He paused for a beat. "Poppet, there is Artemis, Ruth, Kalani and Helen." He made a gesture in said pet's direction as he said each name. Then he shifted to look behind him as Valentine and a rather pale Nicolas joined them. "And there are Valentine and Nicolas. This is Amara."

Sabine grinned widely, it was obvious that he was quite happy with his find.

Ruth's voice snapped him out of his mussings and his eyes turned away from Amara to look at the redhead. Valentine knew that look well. Actually, he'd been on the recieving end of it a few times here and there. Knowing exactly why Ruth was calling everyone away, he didnt much linger in the living room. He took a step back before his gaze returned to the small child at Sabines feet. Shaking his head he coughed softly before turning and heading back to where he left his bird house. He still hadnt asked Ruth's permission to put it out somewhere in the garden. He grunted in frustratin and shook his head. What has gotten into him?

Hitting his thigh with a few slaps he tol himself to concentrate on his tasks. Picking up the mini sized version of their mansion he looked at the door that lead to the garden. Surely Ruth wouldnt mind, would she? The little spunky woman was unpredictable in his opinion and he was never sure what she would think up of next. He sighed and shrugged. If she objected to the bird house e could always just take it somewhere else. Stepping outside he looked around for a place of shade. He'd just spotted the perfect spot when he also noticed Artemis near the shed. He tilted his head. What is he doing just standing there? he asked himself. He looked down at the mini mansion bird house and sighed. He was doing a lot of sighing that day. Placing it down he slowly walked up to the other man. Once beside him, he just looked forward at the shed like Artemis was doing. "What's got you?" he asked, his voice low but he was sure Artemis heard him.
