0 · 253 views · located in Pacific

a character in “Middle of Nowhere”, originally authored by Eiko B. Winters, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

NAME: Eiko Winters

SEX: Female

AGE: 18

HEIGHT: 5'4

WEIGHT:115 lb

LOOKS: Long pink hair down past her thighs. Her eyes are bright candy apple red with long eyelashes. A round face with ghostly pale skin. She's slender with long legs, thin waists. She has a tattoo on her lower stomach that resembles a flame. She also has one on her shoulder of the same symbol.

PERSONALITY: Bubbly and nice. She's outgoing and recklace, somtimes hotheaded, and oblivious to her own emotions. She can scene the mood around her and tries to be optimistic.

CLOTHING: Blue bikini top and black shorts with a brown leather jacket from WW2, knee high blue converse.

SKILLS AND FAULTS:Skills: swimming, cooking, knife use, hunting. Faults: too trusting.

HISTORY: She was named after her grandmother, who fought in disguise as a man under the name "Eriku". Eiko's parents were never around when she was a child, so her grandmother raised her and her sister. Her grandmother was a strong beliver in "Being prepared" and taught Eiko how to survive in difficult terrans. This helped her while exploring, as she lived rihgt by the forest, and she loved to go on explorer missions. Her and her friends would always be looking for somthing new to find.

Her grandmother passed away when Eiko was fifteenth, and gave Eiko her bomber jacket before she died. Eiko wears that jacket everywhere. She got her tattoos during the beginning of Highschool at age 15, when she was tired of being ignored, she did something crazy to get people to notice her. The symbols are the same one's her grandmother had used as a warning to fellow solders. This caught the attention of Jacen Haven, a boy who she grew to have a crush on.

She was one of the five Highschool seniors chosen to go on the cruise for the yearly "student trip". The day the ship sank, she had been swimming in the pool with Jace when he had told her he was planning on asking Carly, a perky blond cheerleader and one of the over five of the cruise, out. Eiko was heartbroken, as she had been in love with Jace for over a year now. Insead of telling him not to, she ran back to her room so he wouldn't see her cry. She eventully fell asleep, but was woken up by her roommate in a panic, yelling that the ship was sinking. Eiko grabbed her jacket and rushed out, only to find that the lifeboats were gone. Her classmates didn't want to go down like that, so they decided that at least one of them should live. Eiko was the best swimmer of the group, so in an act of pure desperation, they decided she would jump off the ship and try to make in on another life boat. Before she jumped, she looked back to her classmates for one final goodbye, when Jace said to her "You'll always be my best friend" and gave her his pocket knife for good luck. So she jumped, landing in the water and swimming as fast as she could out to sea. She swam for hours and hours till she eventully came to an island, and passed out on the beach. A few hours later, she woke up, she saw footprints on the sand and realised she wasn't the only one on the island. So she set off to find others. Jace still remained in her heart and she didn't think she could ever find another person she would love so much...well, she thought so anyway.

So begins...

Eiko ran as fast as her legs could carry her (which was pretty fast) down the long white sandy beach, looking for any possible survivors. Her hand was gripping onto the red pocket knife he had given her just as she was about to jump off the ship.

Eiko stopped suddenly to catch her breath. While she stood there breathing heavily, she heard a male voice in the distance yell "HEEY!!".

She suddenly pearked up, seeing a figure in the distance. Picking up speed, she saw the the figure was that of a man's, with messy blond hair and (from what she could tell in the distance, though she wasn't sure) blue eyes. He was leaning up against a tree and looked to be struggling to stay conscious. Her instincts kicked in, and she ran up to him, carefully and gently putting a hand one on his shoulder and the other on his chest to keep him standing upright. By his appearance, she guessed he was only a couple years younger than her.
"Hey, are you alright? She notices a large bump on his head, in which there a nasty bumb. She reached into one of her many pockets on her jacket and pulled out a travel first aid kit that her grandmother always made her carry around, in which she didn't think she'd ever need till now. Pulling out a dry rag and a mini bottle of rubbing alcohol, she dipped the rag, letting in soak slightly for a few seconds.
"This may sting a bit" she said, lightly and gentle dabbing the wound. After she was done, she pulled out a bandage and covered the bump. Then she put the rag and rubbing alcohol back in the first aid kit, and pulled out a bottle of asprin, and put two pills in her hand.
"Here, this should help ease the pain. I'm sorry, I don't have any water."

"The cruise we were on sank" Eiko said, digging her nails into her palms in an attempt to keep a straight face. "All the lifeboats were gone, the people here had to swim." She still managed to keep her smile, but you could easily tell it was fake, and in her mind she wanted to break down and cry.

"Wow that really happened? Gosh, we sure are lucky to be alive. Gee, you'd think with something that serious...I'd remember it. Why can't I remember it...and who am I?" I began to pace frantically. "Something isn't right. Why can't I remember!?" I sat back down, breathing heavily. I listened to the blowing palms and crashing waves as they calmed me down. I sighed, "I guess we should get started with shelters and gathering food. When is sunup going to come around? How long was I out?"

Eiko looked at the man pace around heavily, then sit down. In a desperate act of comfort, she put her hand on his shoulder. He looked up at her, confused, but she just smiled. She then sat down on the sand and began to play with the red pocket knife.

(Memory) "Why are you taking that pocket knife with you?" She asked Jace as they walk up the deck onto the ship. Jace had flashed her a smile, the one that made her stomach tie in knots. "You never know when ya might need it!" Eiko rolled her eyes and lightly shoved him on the shoulder. "Your going to get in trouble if the teacher sees that." She gestured to there teacher in the front of the group. Jace laughed playfully and put his arm around her shoulder. "Ah, but that's only if Mrs. Crabby @$$ see it." Eiko had blushed bright red as he did that, and shoved him off rather forcibly, but Jace had just laughed again. "You won't tell on me, right?" Eiko sighed, covering her face with her hair a bit to hide the blush, but eventually answered "no, I guess not." Jace had chuckled and punched her lightly in the shoulder in a friendly manor.

"Your cute when you get all shy, Eiko." He had said. "But your still my bet friend!" (End memory)

Eiko sighed as she watched the others slowly drift into sleep. She leaned up against a tree and looked up into the sky, her mind unconsciously sought out the constellations in the sky. She tried to close her eyes, but couldn't force it. She was extremely tired due to the day she had, but, as always, sleep wouldn't come for a long time.

"Damn, stupid insomnia..." she sat up and watched the waves crash on the beach, pulling her knees up to her chest. In the sand, she started to draw little pictures in the sand.

I continued to pace the stretch of beach the fire lit. I saw one of the survivors sitting on the beach, trailing her finger in the sand. I walked over and stuck my spear down into the sand. "Can't sleep? I don't think I could even if I was tired. This whole shipwreck thing would leave me awake for hours. And then what good would I be? I'm assuming we don't have coffee here."

Eiko laughed at his comment, an true, laugh, not a fake one. It felt good to laugh after all that had happened the day before.

She then sighed and layed down on the sand and starred up into the stars. "It's hard to believe something like that could happen. I mean, one day your boarding a cruise for a school trip, and the next your stranded on a desert island. Life is cruel that way, huh?"

"Pretty much. At least...I think." I sighed. "Honestly, remembering that would be great right about now. I mean, you have memories you can hang on to but I don't. It seems harder to me but I don't really know that. Well, you can remember who you lost right? I can't even do that. Except for this anyway." I said as I opened my watch to show her the photo. "I don't know who they are but I feel they are important...in some way, to me."

Looking at the watch, she smiled slightly. "She's pretty." Resting her head on her knees, she watched the moon rest on the ocean. "Hey, think of it this way. If you can't remember, you can tell yourself that you didn't lose her. How do you know she was even on the cruise for you? See, there's something for you to hang on to. The fact that she might be alive and waiting for you somewhere." She rested her head on the ground, using her jacket as a pillow and finally able to close her eyes without force.

(Timeskip to next morning)

Eiko woke up the the blinding sun hitting her face, surprised she got any sleep at all. She groaned, turning on her side and covering her eyes with her arms. She sound of a bag being dropped woke her up, feeling her stomach growl, she picked up a coconut. The bitter taste it her tongue, and she scrunched up her nose.

"There has to be something better" she mumbled, grabbing her jacket and pocket knife. She saw Mark walking off with his spear, the others were off to examine the box (which in all honesty, was a little afraid to go near) and Pike was no where in sight.

Sighing, she got up and started walking out deeper into the island, wanting to see if she could find any supplies needed.

I was the first to notice the new person to was up on the shore. While everyone was marveling at the nailed up box I was going to get open later I noticed a shape wash up about a hundred feet down the shore. I held my hand up to my eyes to shade them from the sun and get a better look on what it was. It was a person! "Guys!" I called over to them. "Look!" I pointed over at whoever it was. I shimmied down the palm tree I was nested in and took off through the sand. I didn't see the root that snaked through the ground and landed face-first into the hot sand. I pulled my face out of it, spitting the grit out of my mouth, and looked up at where they washed up. Whoever they were, they were gone. Was it just a figment of my imagination? I shook my head and walked back to the crowd. They seemed ready to welcome a new survivor but seemed disappointed when I came back. "I must be hallucinating. The amnesia, you know." They seemed to understand and walked back to the camp. All but Eiko. "I saw them too." she said before turning to follow them. So where did they go?

While walking around the ocean when I saw a girl watching us from behind a tree. I watched her for a few seconds, but all she did was stand there. She heard Mark yell for us to look, but everyone ran off before everyone could see her. Mark was standing there looking confused. He said is was amnesia, but that wasn't true.

"I saw them too" I said, looking in the direction of girl. I wanted to go after her, but didn't want to go out into the jungle alone. I turned to Mark and grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's follow her" She said, dragging Mark behind her as she ran after the girl.

"Wha-? You've found them? Where?" I asked as I freed my collar from Eiko's steel vice of a grip. "Look here's a footprint. They went into the jungle? Well I hope they didn't go too far, or they may not find their way out. Oh and the dark-haired one went into there himself. I sure hope he knows where he went, because none of us have mapped out any of this. Agh, I'm getting sidetracked. Let's go!" I said as I grabbed my spear.

I heard a shout come from deeper into the jungle. It seemed like a male voice but from the distance we were I couldn't tell. I pulled myself up a tree. "Wait here." I told Eiko. "I'm going to get a bird's eye view." I popped my head above the palm fronds and scanned the dense vegetation. This was one big island that's for sure. I couldn't even see the other side! It seems the beach we were stranded on was the west side of the island because the sun was in front of me. Slightly to the left, I guess it would be northeast, a mountain rose up from the middle of the jungle with trees growing up it. I couldn't see any distinct movements or colors other than green out in the jungle so I climbed back down. "I found nothing." I told her.

She held up a finger to quiet me before peering into the dark jungle. "I heard something else. It was this way." she said as she pointed deeper in. "Let's go."

I grunted, "Right." We took off into the damp brush. I could feel my arms and legs getting cut up by the terrain and plants. I stumbled over a rock that jutted out of the ground. I fell down into mud puddle. I spat out mud. "Ugh, I'm not used to this type of terrain.

We were reaching a clearing as I could see some light slowly getting brighter ahead of us. The survivor that had left earlier in the morning was standing with the person I saw wash up on the beach. "Is everything alright? We heard shouting."

I watched Mark climb up the tree to get a better view on the island. I sigheed and leaned up against the tree he had just climbed up, woundering for a second if we'd be able to make it off this island, or when a resque would come.

"I suppose we could make a boat, or even wings like in that greek story, Icurus and Deadulus." I smiled at the thought, remembering the story from history class. "Ah, but we all know how well that worked out" I chuckled slightly, but my smile faded as I heard the sound of a twig snapping, then the the muffled voices of somone talking. At that momment Mark slid down the tree, saying he found nothing, but I put up my finger to quiet him.

"I heard something else. It was this way" We ran off deeper into the jungle. I often went exploring with my friend in the forest, so I had a little experiance. Key word: a little. I heard Mark fall into a mud puddle. I couldn't help but giggle slightly as i put out my hand to help him up.

"I'm not used to this kind of terrain" he said, and I smiled at him as to say "Its okay".

We reached the clearing when we saw two survivors, the one with the long dark hair (I belive his name was Pike) and the other girl whose name i did not know. Mark explained that we heard them and came to see what was wrong. I smiled at the girl, who looked really scared and shy.

I followed behind Eiko, still brushing mud off myself. The dark-haired one was talking to the new survivor and Eiko was getting into their conversation as well. "Hi, my name is Mark. What's yours?" I asked her as I heard a snap of a branch to our left. "Perhaps we should continue this back at camp." I said nervously. "We should go. Now." We began to run back the way we came. I was leading us only by the footprints I could see in the dimly lit jungle. Whatever was moving in the brush, it wasn't planning on following us. Yet. We came back to the beach and I gave a sigh of relief, sinking down into the sand. I ran my fingers through my unkempt hair and reclined back in the sand. It was warm for this early in the morning.

The box was still where we left it, the tide had gone out and left it in dry sand. I don't think it'll be washing back out any time soon, but we need to get it higher up so it won't get washed out to sea. It may contain something important. Now if only we had something to open it...

I glanced up from where I was lying. The rest had already gone. They must have gone to the camp zone. Well, time to get to work. I got up and headed over to where our smoldering campfire was. The place was empty so they must have gone to get food. Maybe it'll be nice to surprise them with some shelters. Or maybe a shelter? I took a small stick from the fire that only had the tip of it charred. I grabbed a few palm fronds from the trees around me and wove together the individual fronds into a quilt pattern. Homemade paper, alright. I took my stick and began to sketch out a small design. The walls will be made of wood to keep out predators and a tightly woven palm frond roof will keep out any rain. Now how will I cut down trees. I'm going to need an axe.

I watched as Mark went into the woods to cut trees for shelter. Everyone else was off doing there own thing, weather it was collecting food, mapping out area's or working on shelters. I knew I had to do something too, but I wasn't feeling like truly doing anything, as I probably got a total of three hours sleep last night. I took off my jacket, throwing it a few feet to the side, I walked over to the end of the beach, then taking my shoes off, I step into the water.

Swimming has always been something I enjoyed. To most people, after the boat sank and we had to swim for our lives, swimming would be the last thing on there minds. But to me, it's a way of saying "Your life was saved by swimming, so obviously, swimming is an important fact in your life!" I stayed in a shallow little cove as I laid on my back and floated on my back, watching the clouds fly though the sky as the wind picked up. The wind caused the water to ripple, as I floated up and down.

The warm sun felt nice on my skin. The water was cool and relaxing. For a minute I forgot we were on an island, and started waiting for my sister to sneak up and dunk me in the water, or Jace to grab my leg and try to recreate that cheesy scene from Jaws. But when I opened my eyes again, in was back on the island.

"I wonder if we'll ever make it off this island?" I thoughts as a cool wave splashed over my face.

"I'm falling...Why?...hey, they're waving to me. Are they saying goodbye? Why?" I ponder so many things as I fall down towards the cold waters below. Closer and closer I'm getting towards the water, colder and colder it's getting as I feel the wind on my arms, legs and body, till finally Splash! I go under, water stinging my eyes...or maybe those are tears...and entering my mouth, nearly choking me as I struggle to get a grip on my breath. I'm drowning.

"I don't want to die..." I think as I'm sinking further and further down along with the rest of the ship. "And I'm not going to" getting a grip on myself, I thrust my arms out, kicking my legs back and forth and using all the strength I can muster to swim up. I break the surface, just in time to see the entire ship submerged in water, sinking down to the lowest depths of the ocean along with all the people who were abandoned on board

"No!" I screamed, splashing around in the shallow cove as I woke up suddenly. Looking around, I realized I was still in the shallow cove I had been swimming in, but had fallen asleep.

Walking up to the shore, I sat by a large rock and pulled my knees up to my chest, trying to rid myself of that terrible memory that seemed like ages ago.

"So many people drowned..." I though, as I closed my eyes and fought off the urge to cry.

I was preparing my new idea for our shelters when I heard sobbing coming from the cove. I waded through the brush until I came out into the opening where the shore was. Eiko was sitting on a rock clearly unhappy. I gave a sigh of unhappiness and joined her on the rock. "It's hard...isn't it? Knowing that your loved ones could either be happily back at home or hundreds of feet beneath the sea." I gave a large exhale. "Morale is always low the first days in...i-in...movies! Yeah, movies! Hey I remembered something! My memory must be coming back!" I got up, tugging Eiko up as well. I picked her up and spun her around. Suddenly my cheeks got red and I set her down. "Sorry." I said. "This is just an excitement I'm not sure I can control. Well I should be heading back to building. Don't come peeking until I'm done!" I said as I headed back through the jungle. I smacked myself in the forehead. "What's wrong with me?!"

I gasped as Mark picked me up and spun me around. He sat me down with a flustered face and apologized, saying not to peek on the shelter till he was done. I was happy that he remembered something, and I found myself smiling because of it, but I also felt my cheeks go red. Gasping, I shook my head wildly and sat back down on the rock.

"I need to get my mind off of things" I sighed, I stood up from the rock, stretching my sore muscles and deciding to walk further down across the beach to explore what hadn't discovered.
