Introduction
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year,
but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place.
If I quit, however, it lasts forever."
- Lance Armstrong
Hello and Welcome to the Minthill House!
For one reason or another, your mental health specialist or family member has referred you to the Minthill House. We know you are probably not leaping at the idea, but don't worry. The Minthill House is exactly how it sounds - A house. We are not a large facility with a large staff and many patients which do not let you leave the House. You are one of only four patients recieving help from us here at Minthill, recieving attention from two skilled doctors who truly care about their patients.
We understand you may have other concerns about your stay, such as the conditions of people you will be housemates with. Our patients are carefully selected with conditions which are naturally harmful to others as well as personalities which shall not clash with other's too much. There will not be a gender imbalance in the home to be wary of, and for your comfort, you may have our choice is speaking to either our male doctor or our female doctor, or both if you wish. These doctors will also be staying in the home to ensure that you will be access to help whenever you need it. We are eagerly awaiting your arrival here at The Minthill House! We're sure you'll be happy here!
Sincerely,
Marie Swall,
Founder and Overseer of The Minthill House.
P.S. Once you have finished your treatment here, you will be kept for as brief an observation time as possible before being released, to ensure a quick return to your family and/or friends.
Minthill Home for the Troubled is just as avertized by mental health specialists: A comfortable, home-like environment with care from certified, passionate doctors. The house has what every other house would; Bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room - Even a study! Everyone here has some kind of problem such as Drug Addiction, Depression, Grief, Alcoholism, Extreme Fear, Delusions, Anger Management Issues, Confusion, or even an extremely irrational, crippling fear of something. (Basically any mental issue that isn't hardcore like schizophrenia)
Each BEDROOM is identical and almost made to be rearranged. They are large and well lit with their own televisions as well as their own, personal bathrooms. The windows of the room open as well, letting in a cool breeze. However, there is a very thin, rounded steel screen for the patient's protection, but is so thin that it's almost not noticable. The door, however, has no lock.
Every bedroom has it's own personal BATHROOM, designed for simplicity, but also comfort. Everything has a grip on it to keep people from losing their balance and falling, but it is open even to feel refreshingly free. However, there is no lock on the door.
Even the LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, and KITCHEN look open and free, even through everything does have some sort of safety feature. People are monitored while cooking dinner due to the cutlery (which are stored away when it is not mealtime), the utensils are set on the table, washed, and put straight away into lockable drawers, etc. for patient safety.
'Wow! Who will i share this house with?-

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 4 authors
So naturally, she would wait for everyone and show them to their rooms when they arrived. Not everyone would be coming on one day, several perhaps coming a day or so later - But that was simply understandable. So, she would show whoever would come today to their rooms. Hopefully, she could at least sit down at talk with them for just a little bit; introductions, simple conversation, and before things got too heavy with pressure, dinner and bed. It was 6pm after all, surely it would be at least 8:30 pm before 'dinner'. It could never be helped, dinner was almost always late on the first day.
She stared at the bottle of medication she had thrown on the seat opposite of her. The medication that made everything better and worse all at the same time. While it gave her the normalcy she desperately wanted, it also made her feel dependent and weak - things she could never tell her mother because the woman just wouldn't understand. There were so many things that Lux believed no one could understand about her. Not a friend, not a therapist, not even the mother who birthed her.
The car began to slow to a stop, her cousin looking back at her. Her mother had originally wanted to take her, but Lucy just wouldn't have that.
"I know you think your mom was out of place for referring you here, but I think you might like it," She said, giving Lux a halfhearted smile.
Lux just blinked in response and grabbed her bags. The first thing she noticed about Minthill was the luxurious look it had, the second was the woman with fiery red hair waiting outside of it - one of the doctors, she assumed. She walked towards her, dragging her suitcase behind her. "Uhm, I'm supposed to be staying here for a while. Or something," Lucy announced, biting down on her lip.
The car stopped and she had to stop herself from giving the lovely girl who stepped out almost too enthusiastic greeting. As the girl spoke, she smiled. "Yes, you are. Welcome to The Minthill House, we're very happy to have you here." she said, her happy expression not seeming fake, shining with a spark that could only come from something genuine. "My name is Marie Swall, i believe you got my letter. It's a pleasure to meet you... Ms. ryan, is it?"
"It's Lux, by the way. Just Lux," Lucy told Miss Swall with a frown. She had been called by that nickname for years, never really sure where it originated. However, she was completely sure that she loved her nickname a lot more than her given name. "And yeah, I got your letter. Is anyone else here? Or am I the only one crazy enough to be accepted into this program? Whatever it is."
As Marie re-introduced herself as Lux, she nodded. "Alright, Lux is it then." she replied. Her lips parted for her to speak again when Lux spoke before her. Slowly, her parted lips met and pursed into a thin line. First impressions weren't fantastic, though they usually weren't. "I see. No one else is here yet, but i know at least one person will be coming soon, probably any minute really. As the letter stated, you shall be staying with three others here at Minthill. There will be another female and two males who will be staying here with you. I assure you they will not be if any threat to you, none of them are in any condition to." She moved aside and gestured to the house. "Do you want me to help you move your things to your room?" she offered, kindly.

And of course, The photo of his parents.
He was looking forward to getting back to his office at Minthill. It had been a long few weeks since Minthill closed between admittance groups. In this time, the other Doctors would be visiting their families. But Shane, who had no close family left, spent his time watching junk television and kicking back with his 2 closest friends. He'd also spent a considerable amount of time burning off his boredom at the local gym.
Satisfied that he had everything he would need for now, He loaded up his car, an old black BMW. Not the most expensive or flashy car in the world, but he didn't really care about cars anyway.
He slumped into the drivers seat and twisted the key in the ignition. The engine spat out a satisfying growl, and he curled off of his driveway.
The drive to Minthill was tiresome, and uninteresting. But as soon as he drew close, and saw the marvelous House looming closer, his heart perked up a little. He was excited to be back in his comfort zone.
As he parked up, he grabbed his bags. He saw Marie, the founder (and his boss), talking to a pretty young girl who he assumed was a patient. She couldn't have been any older that 18, something he found a little heartbreaking in it's own way.
As he walked up to the pair. He flashed Marie a quick smile, and said "Hello" to the young girl, and then walked through the front doors. heading towards his office. He didn't want to overwhelm the new patient by bombarding her with medical personnel.
The car pulled to a halt, but the male didn't more a single inch of his body. He didn't even twitch when his door was pulled open, nor did he look up when a voice started speaking. Only when a hand grabbed his wrist did he move. "Don't," Makiriy began as he tugged his wrist away, "touch me." He pushed the person away - it was some nurse from the hospital he was coming from - and reluctantly got out of the car. He was quite a bit taller than the nurse, but his posture was so horrendous that he seemed smaller.
He was handed a folder and a backpack, one containing his files and the other his belongings, and then pushed towards the entrance of the building. The car engine starting up behind him made it clear that the nurse was leaving. She always had difficulties tolerating Makiriy, so it made sense that she was trying to leave as soon as possible, even if it meant leaving the male alone. Well, not technically alone. There was a woman standing little more than ten feet from Makiriy, along with a younger female, so it was clear he wasn't alone.
Makiriy walked over to the woman, who appeared to be a doctor. He held out the manila folder as a greeting, not wanting to speak. Makiriy never was the social type, although this was rather rude even for him. Of course, right now he was in no mood to care about social ettiquette.
As she parted her lips to speak, yet another car arrived. She recognized the vehicle as a medical personnel vehicle and pursed her lips a bit, watching as the clearly exasperated nurse grabbed the boy inside and seemed to almost threw him at the house. Marie hid her contempt as the boy held his folder to her. 'What despicable treatment' he thought, watching as the vehicle drove away and disappeared down the road. How could they possibly be so cruel so someone with fragile mental health? She recognized the boy, but thanked him quietly and took the folder from him. "Welcome to Minthill. I'm Marie Swall - I believe, you got my letter?"
Once again, there was a another vehicle coming down the way - But she could only handle so much at once. She hated to bother him, but she called after Shane.
"Dr. Harrisson? There seems another resident is here! Could you possibly introduce them? I'd like to show these two around and to their rooms first, and i'm not much good at keeping track of too much." she asked with a gentle smile.
"It'll be fine, Matt. You'll like it there." Kyle asked as he rested his hand on his knee, looking into the back to face him. Matthew could feel Kyle's expectant and worried gaze, but barely registered it. Numb, Matthew dragged his gaze up to his brother's face and nodded.
"Okay," he replied in barely above a whisper. Matthew's face had deep etched lines of stress, and the world-weariness of the young man made him seem almost a decade older than he actually was. His eyes reflected things like an unpolished glass pane, dull and blurred with a kind of darkness around the rim. He watched as Kyle's mouth twitched into a sad smile and he patted his knee against before turning forward, allowing his dull blue eyes to trail back down to his hands.
The car ride was spent in complete silence, Matthew observing his hands the entire time. They were thin and pale - just like the rest of him -, fingers laced together. The ring and middle finger of his right hand ached as it pressed against the hard metal of his wedding ring, which shined just as new as the day he had gotten it - A silver band with a small, blue tinted diamond. It had been a cheaper wedding ring, but he didn't need a little metal and bling to say he was married, Abigail's love was enough.
'Sweetheart,'
Matthew barely managed to keep from choking on his tongue in shock as he heard the voice, whipping his head around both ways to try and find the familiar face he had expected to see, which would have matched the gentle, feminine voice. When he found no one, he reached up and pressed his hands against his ears. Just as he had pressed his hands hard enough against his ears to begin to physically hurt himself, the door opened and he lowered his hands, giving his brother a dull, blank look.
"We're here,"
Matthew was still, and only moved when they reached in to take his hand before moving it to his shoulder, assisting him out. He was weak from the lack of sleep, so they stopped to make sure that he was steady before leaving him to look at his new surroundings while they took out his bags. There was a large suitcase and a backpack which they set next to Matthew as he simply stared up at the building. In Matthew's mind, almost everything had disappeared and a kind of wandering focus began to draw his attention to things around himself. There was a young woman standing with a younger boy and girl, and a doctor, and finally there was the large house. Slowly, he walked over to one of the bushes near the house, looking down at it and reaching down to pinch a leaf between his thumb and pointer finger, not saying a word, simply staring at the leaf with a half-lidded and lightly closed lips. The man had the air of just being unaware of everything around himself, clueless.
"So - ah - are we gonna...go? Or are we all just going to stand out here, enjoying the scenery?" She questioned, lightly tilting her head to the side.
She watched Mr. Fucking Depressed stare at a leaf like it was the meaning of life, and she raised an eyebrow. Maybe she wasn't as messed up as people thought she was, not when she was put up next to these two. Sure, she refused to take her medication, occasionally became a little uncontrollable, and on more than a few occasions attempted to end her life...but at least she seemed to know what was going on around her.
"Is he, y'know, in a walking coma or something?" She elbowed Miss Marie Swall in the side.
She was pretty sure there wasn't such a thing as a walking coma, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Mr. Fucking Depressed looked like the God damned living dead, and she liked to think she knew her undead pretty well. She had an impressive collection of horror films waiting for her back home, Zombies and Vampires being the main creatures in nearly all of them. Not to mention she could do wonders with a little bit of liquid latex and fake blood. Maybe Mr. Goth-Boy would like a tutorial, as he obviously enjoyed the Make Up Industry and all their lipsticky, eye linery glory.

And through the course of this RP, please feel free to discuss things with us here in the OOC! Planning and scheming is great as long as it doesn't go overboard, and if you think it might, just run it by me. :)
