Introduction
Story
Theres an old legend that when you die in your sleep you stay asleep forever. That's completely true, but as your body rests your soul is stuck in the world of dreams. This will happen to your character. They will peacefully pass away in their sleep, or be murdered, have a heart attack... whatever. Be creative, and original. I don't want six murder victims or something like that. The only way to get out of the land of dreams is to acquire The Stone of Bersan. This stone is guarded by an ancient creature, it is literally a nightmare. Every fear you have, everything that makes your skin crawl, Bersan the Nightmare will become. None have succeeded defeating him or stealing it, but if it is recovered, the hero that possesses it will wake from their death, and time will go back to before they died. Then it is prophesied that another Bersan will be spawned from the fears of the world. At least that is what legend says. No one knows for sure because no one has ever done it. Good luck.
Someone with the power to shapeshift-
Our story begins in the town of Mantua in The Dream World. that is where our characters will meet, create a party, hate each other an go off alone, or break up into separate groups whatever. they will somehow find out there is a way to get back to the real world to their loved ones. maybe they hate their family and don't want to go back... whatever you think would make a good story. Remember as my friend Shadereen would say "don't grab for the tits", don't be too hasty to advance the story. I will do that through the NPC's.
The Dream World
The dream world is a magical world where anything existits. It is like the human mind, anything that can be imagined can be. There are even Dream Weavers who are powerful enough of the mind to manipulate the world around them by using their imaginations. There are some that are gifted with magic, but it's not shooting flames form your palms immediately. it's always shaky in the beginning. Most peoples powers end up blowing up in their face. The powers are decided by someones personality. For example, someone reckless and passionate may have the power to create and control fire, whereas someone peaceful and calm would control water. Remember These powers are extremely hard to control it takes a lot of concentration and discipline to master a power. Another big factor of The Dream World is the world it'self. It's like a fantasy world, there are thick forests, high mountains, grassy plains, deep dungeons and deep blue seas. Remember the world of dreams is created out of the dreams of humans. There are beautiful small medieval villages, but there are also dark creatures and dangerous ruins created by nightmares. ((This is like a Medieval world! Swords and magic!))
More (or rules) on Powers
-Hard to control
-I, THE GM WILL DECIDE THESE POWERS BASED ON THE CHARACTERS PERSONALITIES
-Be descriptive about how it feels to use them, what it makes your character feel like
-Don't make yourself OP,or powerplay/godmod. Theres no warnings. It's simple courtesy.
Rules
-No powerplaying, godmodding, marry/gary sues... long story short: Be fair, creative, and original.
-Write "761" on your character sheet or else I will reject it.
-Follow character skeleton, you may add all you want but do not forget anything!
-Take away 65 from 761 and write it on the bottom of your character sheet
-Try to check OOC often and be an active participant in OOC
-If you followed the last character sheet instruction say "F**k it" and write
"dream freely" on the top of your character sheet
-Have a good time *evil voice* OR FACE MY WRATH!
-I will play all NPC's
-When battling do not write outcomes. I will calculate the attack and defense by using a system much like one created by my friend Shadereen. I will write the outcome after I have calculated the result.
Eg:
A's player would write:
A swung his sword in a long downward arch towards B's left shoulder in a full out attack putting all his energy into the strike, attempting to severe his arm.
Then B's player would write:
B saw the attack coming and attempted to raise his shield to block the blow while bashing forward to try and stun A.
Then I would write the outcome:
A's attack contacted with B's shield and glanced off. thye force of the blow however was enough to stop B's shield bash.
Skelly
-include this list of things in your skelly, lay it out however you want, but try to make it look good. (there are unlimited spots)
-Name
-Age (14-40)
-Personality (remember that I will base their power off of this)
-History (how they died, childhood, etc.)
-Appearance (written or pictures real preferred but anime acceptable)

-Strengths (3-5)
-weaknesses (3-5)

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
The beast was a Manticore. The nightmare of lost travellers in the Middle-East and Mediterranean. Is roared at him and hooked it's tail over it's back in a vicious manner. This evil nightmare wished to see the scared face on it's victim before it dined. It's roar was an attempt to stun and scare his victim into a fearful confusion.

Awesomeness: 9/20

Logic: 18/20
Dice roll: 14/20
Ryle has a 57% chance to escape the Manticore.
The manticore looked on with pleasure as it's prey fled. The Manticore took off after it into the trees, the manticore watched as it tried to zig zag and maneuver to try and confuse it. The Manticore kept his eye on the prey and broke off in a sprint getting ready for a pounce on it's back and to deliver a killing blow to it's neck with his lethal jaws.

The Manticore has a 63% chance to catch up to Ryle
The manticore caught up to Ryle and was now only a few metres behind him ready to pounce.
Trenton sighed. He was tired of soul peering. He was already tired from his little teleportation act. He didn't need to waste some more energy to answer a question that had already been answered. "He's bound to you, he's a part of your soul." Trenton answered. He liked the curiosity, but asking the same questions would only leave them at a stalemate.
"So... What's your name friend?" Trenton asked the young man in the black cloak.

The Manticore pounced but caught air as Ryle took off. The Manticore was now angry and hungrier because of all the running. He chased Ryle again, this time utilising his tail, he fired pins of horn out of his tail towards Ryle, like a turret mounted on it's back. The Manticore was trying to either kill him or wound him so the beast could make the kill.

Ryles chance to evade/escape the Manticore:

Ryle has 48% chance. He fails to evade the Manticores missiles.
One of the manticores horns flew straight into Ryles calf with great force, plunging into the flesh of his muscle and stopping at the bone. A very painful wound, but not life threatening. Yet. The manticore roared in delight and slowly wandered over to it's now incapacitated prey.
Trenton laughed. "you already know the answer to that Dov." Trenton told him. Then, something was ringing in his head. Trenton himself was just a dream, and there was a Nightmare nearby. He could always sense other dreams, good or evil. This one was far from good.
"Come with me." Trenton said. He grabbed the men by the wrists and his eyes glowed again, like they had when he manipulated the dream realm before. They didn't actually teleport this time, but more of levitated at a very fast pace through objects as if they were air. Trenton stopped when they were just a few seconds into the warp. They had arrived about a five minute walk out of Mantua, beside the crumpled figure of the other young man. "It shouldn't be this close to town!" Trenton cursed.
The manticore recoiled when three new targets appeared, but to it they were more food. The manticore launched out into a sprint and pounced at the man in the front who's eyes glowed with teeth bared and tail ready to sting.
Trenton raised his hand to the beast, but as it pounced, it passed right through him. Trenton himself being a dream couldn't directly effect the creature or even touch it. "Here!" Trenton shouted. With a wave of his hands The Nathaniel, Dov and Ryle were armed with swords and shields. "protect yourselves well. I won't let you die here." Trenton told them, then he dissappeared into thin air.
((footnote: This is an extreme amount of Godmodding on my part, but I can't let Ryle die this far into the RP...And; I want a little more action and excitement. This event will most likely scare the characters into wanting to go home, thus putting our RP in motion. If there is a problem with it I am willing to tweak this post.))
Dov's panic set in, strike at the biggest threat or die because you didn't. One could say that Dov only fled when he thought, like he didn't have a flight instinct, but instead a flight thought. Never the less, Dov charged the manticore with his shield up and his sword at his side. His target was the tail of the beast, planning the use the shield to stop the teeth and claws long enough for Dov to stab the tail near, or at, the poison sack. If he was lucky enough, his strike would leave the sword stuck in the ground and the tail.
Dov's whole logical analysis capabilities had kicked in. His choice of the tail as the first target came with this simple thought, 'The tail has poison that kills within a single hit, the claws and teeth do not.' And the thought for the attacking was 'Have to kill it before it kills me.'
All the while, the pup ran behind a tree, likely too small for the manticore to even notice.
Is this it for me?
Two silhouettes appeared before him and his heart pounded as fear overwhelms him, his wound throbbing.
Is that the reapers I see? Are they here to collect me?
Then a sword and shield appeared on his hands, automatically letting his grip on his calf loosen.
What is this?
He tried to get up, but one of his leg could no longer carry his weight. Blood pooled on the ground beneath him since pressure was no longer instilled in on his torn calf. To his surprise, one of the silhouettes began fighting the creature. His vision reddened and blackened, almost losing his consciousness, but not quite.
"It shouldn't be this close to town!" Trenton yelled before apparently trying to stop the creature. But it only passed through him like he was still unreal. Then he turned to them and shouted, "Here!" As he did so a sword and shield appeared in everyone's hands. It was apparent he wished for Nathan to help this man. The other man with him, Dov, charged forward almost immediately heading directly into the beast. Fool.
Moving forward a few steps, he bent down to check the wounded man. He had what appeared to be a large stinger-like bone lodged deep in his calf. Nathaniel had seen worse wounds from arrows but he knew the man was definitely not going to enjoy the next few moments. "I'm going to pull it but you will have wrap your own wound. Can you hear me? Do you understand?" He checked the man's face and he seemed to be lucid enough to have understood. He used the tip of his sword to cut a strip of the man's shirt quickly. Setting his blade on the ground he put the strip of cloth in the mans hand, removing the sword from his grip. Nathan then counted from three backwards aloud before yanking the spike out with a bit of trouble.
Soon as it was over he stood, no longer concerned with the man. He breathed deeply as he tightened the grip on his blade. Observing the situation between the lion like creature and Dov. Who was working his way behind the creature trying to attack it's tail. Knowing from experience that if the creature acts anything like an actual lion it wasn't going to allow that, Nathan charged forward yelling and clashing his sword against his shield trying to distract the creature for him. He was ready for it as he circled around to stay on the opposite side of Dov, hoping it would attack him instead of the fool.

Nate:

Description: 18/20
Roll: 18/20
Holy shit! this is possibly one of the greatest posts I've ever seen evaluated, good job Quantum. The Manticore was successfully distracted by Nathaniel. (71% chance to distract the Manticore.)
The manticore roared furiously as the man disappeared and he began to get charged. The Manticore could easily hear the man coming from behind him. The manticore was about to turn around and attack when his ears began to ring. He turned an had his tail plates made of hardened scale slashed with a sword. (The sword bounced off of the scale Manticore has 98/100 health left)
His companion started to beat his shield in front of him. The Manticores sensitive ears were being overflowed with pain from the sound so the Manticore lashed out at this man, jaws wide open and aimed for his throat.
Trenton saw the manticore lash out at Nate. Trenton cringed and hoped to god they would be alright. Trento reached out a hand at Ryle and probed his consciousness. He was beginning to bleed out. They couldn't leave until the creature was dead however, then it may attack an unarmed farmhand, and start terrorizing the town. Trenton allowed some of his massive pool of energy flow into Ryle to help speed the healing of the wound, and it began to shut, the pain would still be there for a while, but in a few hours he would be completely well.
((I want to make some adjustments to this system so that the modifier can go up to 100% instead of just 80%. But what else could I evaluate? Give me ideas in OOC will ya?))
After only a single moment of thought, Dov continued his assault strategy. Shield up and sword held so that he could easily stab, Dov shot straight for the beast's throat. If he was right, one good strike could cause the beast to choke on its own blood.
Upon reaching the beast, two possibilities could occur, or so Dov calculated. The first would be that the beast maintained focus on Nate, and if this were to happen, Dov would put one foot on the nearest claw while he positioned the shield to be ready for an attack from the tail or back claw. Now on the front foot, Dov would use his hand with the sword in it to stab the beast's neck, hoping for a kill shot. The other possibility would be that the beast noticed Dov. In this situation, Dov would crouch so that his shield covered him from claws, teeth, and tail. As the beast would come into striking range, Dov would attempt to send his blade through the creatures mouth.
He didn't have time to think as he instinctively let his grip go on the handle of the blade, allowing it to free fall for only a fraction of a second before grabbing it by the blade and shoving his arm forward. He positioned the blade tilted in front of him so that when the creature closed it's mouth on him the blade would pierce flesh and inside before teeth would arm. This was a far riskier move but it would also allow for the other man to finish the hopefully stunned or seriously injured creature.
Soon as the blade was in position he would try to let go and pull his arm out before the jaws actually snapped shut, and he knew it was going to be close. He knew that because of the speed of the creature he would also likely regret both the impact of him and it's body or having underestimated the creature. Either way he was focused on saving both of these people and probably more if this thing killed them and got into the village.
Before Ryle could answer, the silhouette -who was no doubt a man- tore Ryle's shirt to obtain a strip of clothing, jerked the sword off of Ryle's hand, and exchanged it with the strip of clothing. Suddenly, the man slowly counted backwards from three to one.
"What? Wait a se-" said Ryle.
Then the stinger was yanked out.
"MOTHER OF ALL FUCKS!!!"
The pain was unbearable. With that, Ryle's eyes rolled back and lost his consciousness. The man, who seemed content and pleased with what he had done, left Ryle unintended in his own pool of blood to fight the huge lion. Fortunately, a minute later, Ryle's wounds miraculously kneaded together and healed. Another minute later, He gained consciousness. Confused and dazed, he said, "Thank god it was all just a dream." When his vision cleared, his eyes widened from the shock. He couldn't believe his eyes. Blinking and rubbing his eyes, his vision became much clearer but it was still the same. His jaw dropped. Two man was fighting the huge lion with a scorpion's tail, in the night forest, under the brilliant moonlight's beam. When he inspect himself, he saw that he was soaked and drenched in his own blood. This was his reality. Once again, Ryle lost consciousness.
