ImageImageA vampire is a mythical being who subsists by feeding on the life essence of living creatures.

Image

In folkloric tales, undead vampires often visited loved ones and caused mischief or multiple deaths in the neighborhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance, a stark difference from today's gaunt, pale vampires which dates from the early 1800s. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in most cultures, the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century, after an influx of vampire superstition in Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent, such as the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

Enamored by these supposedly flawless creatures, authors around the world began to collect tales, building a reputation around the creatures of the night. Some of the earliest works of supposed fiction concerning vampires includes titles such as The Vampyre, Varney the Vampire, Carmilla, and perhaps the most famous of them all, Dracula. What was it about these beings that captivated humans so? Was it their supposed immortality? Or maybe it was rumored tragedies of love that could last centuries, even after a partner has passed?

One at a time rumors were unmasked, vampires stepping into the metaphorical light expecting to be celebrated and worshiped. Instead they were met with horror and chased from civilization. Neighbors turned on one another, families suspecting their loved ones in a terrible twist of fate. Whole communities were torn apart in the search for these creatures. Meanwhile they continued to blend, living in plain in sight among the people that hated them. They tolerated the slander and racism until finally the excitement died down and vampires were nearly forgotten about.

It was a thing of the past, once more immortals were nothing more than a work of fiction. Vampires could once again live in relative peace, no longer fearing to be ousted by their neighbors. The days passed slowly; during a lazy autumn they found the first body, a wooden stake driven through the body's chest. More bodies were found, the cause of death nearly always the same. It was the work of hunters, mutilating whatever vampires they could get their hands on. Families of vampires began migrating towards the mountains, fleeing society altogether in hopes of a safer life in the country.

Nestled in the mountains to the north is a hotel, it is extravagant in every sense of the word. Once a castle owned by the Vampire Princess, it was taken by a woman who worked as her care taker, turned into a safe heaven for their kind. Their primary clientele happen to be vampire, occasionally however, a few humans will stumble along the place looking for a bed to retire to for the night. A place where no hunter can reach and is for those on the run as well as a place where they can drop their guard. The hotel is nearly impossible to get to, unless of course you can fly and yet, twice a year some confused human finds themselves at their doorstep.

The employees are known to serve with a smile and are incredibly trustworthy. Unless of course you're human, then you may find yourself becoming a midnight snack. It is not uncommon to awake to a vampire or two standing at the foot of your bed. They have been more cautious lately though due to the amount of hunters that seem to be passing through the mountains. Now more than ever it is imperative to lay low. The hunters have been on the look out, tracking bodies and attempting to exterminate the vampires completely.
Image

Hunters || Primarily human although occasionally you can find a vampire or two among their ranks.

Sarkomenos || Vampires that have a bit of a Ghoulish appearance, they come from Crete and Rhodes.

Danag || A vampire that is not dangerous nor immortal until it tastes its first blood. Before that point they can live as humans, their primary distinction is their red eyes and pale skin.

Gothic ||They are resistant to the more traditional vampire killing methods. The only way to slay a Gothic is to crush its heart completely and scatter the remains. They inherit their power through their sires, therefore if the one that turned them was a shapeshifter then they too become a shapeshifter.

Lahmians || Lahmians are primarily female, they all descend from Queen Neferata. They have powers of enchantment which they use to influence their prey. They can be defined by the markings on their bodies that shimmer in the light.

Necrarchs || They are the rarest and most hideous of species, bearing scares whereas their kin can heal any blemish on their body.

So what's going to happen? Well obviously a war is brewing, the vampire's are killing humans, humans are killing vampires, it's not pretty and neither side is very happy. So what's going to happen is that it starts with a ball, all the major Ladies and Lords have been invited and the staff are working double time to ensure the happiness of their guests (this is at the hotel).

Riven knows what's going on, she hasn't been invited but she hasn't said anything because she doesn't want her kin to perish. Unfortunately though, someone has tipped the hunters off as to the place and time when some VIV's (Very Important Vampire's) will have their guard down.

After that it is basically a snowball effect of things falling into place and an official war being declared.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Abilities are also something you need to know. Humans do not have any because they're, well, human. The only exception to this are dhampires who are half human, half vampire and they only have very minor powers.
All vampire's share distinct abilities; shape shifting into a bat (and in some rare cases a black cat), enhanced senses, razor sharp teeth and nails, and sometimes enhanced strength. Along with this they have one main ability that is a distinct trait passed down from either their family, or one they developed when becoming a vampire.
~~~~~~~~~~

The Kings || The Seven Vampire Kings used to be key players, however most of them have died or have been succeeded by younger (somewhat better disguised) heirs. The seven king's in this country were defined by their regions and each known by a very brutal measure they took to protect their land(King of the South East, AKA the Bloodied Sword). The territories are formed to ensure good hunting grounds and that there are enough humans for the vampire's to prey on. Obviously they lived in secret, but they were very wealthy and had lavish homes despite the fact that on the outside they had to appear as commoners.

The King's are the most powerful, well known, and respected vampire's to have ever walked the earth. Some were born into this power, other's obtained it by joining a King's ranks and being named heir. All have earned the title one way or another.

~~~~~~~~~
Other Information || Children : When two vampire's love each other very much, they get busy and have a baby. Normally the child takes after the more dominant species, so if a Danag and a Gothic make love, the child will almost always be a Gothic.
When a human and a vampire get busy, the child almost always dies. Once in a blue moon though, it will stick and the female will become pregnant. When this happens, the child becomes a dhampire. Sometimes they can surpass the abilities of both parents when in fight or flight mode, but most of the time they appear to be weaker versions of vampire's that can tolerate limited amounts of human food.
Being Turned || So obviously the vampire drinking has the decision as to whether or not they would like to turn someone. There are two ways to do this: the first is to make them drink your blood. This is normally the most convenient method because it is very easy to force someone's mouth open and to make them swallow.
The second option, the harder of the two, is normally used on lover's in dire circumstances. The vampire would have to bite the human (does not matter where, can be on hand, neck, shoulder, etc) and focus all of their energy into the human's body. This method is reserved for extreme circumstances where one is no longer able to swallow and almost past the point of saving.
~~~~~~~~
Turning Process || Obviously changing all at once would be a bit overwhelming, that's why the body start to slowly adjust. The first twenty four hours are normally full of excruciating pain due to the fact that you are technically dead and yet still walking around as though you are living. Vampires don't have to breathe, but most do out of instinct; young vampire's are taught to inhale and exhale in order to blend in, in the human world.

Normally the first change they will notice is their complexion. Unless they are a day walker they will turn deathly pale, almost sickly looking. After this the fangs come in and depending on the type of vampire any other attributes starting from the top of the body to the bottom will be noticed.

”I think you put the sticky part down on the cloth,” Riven mused, attempting to figure out the instructions that Dominic was giving them. “That makes the most sense at least,” she murmured. Dominic nodded, it seemed that Riven had gotten that right. “And then the wings go underneath, there.” Viola had gotten it and now she knew how to use a pad. What a strange thing, why did humans shed blood? She wrinkled her nose at the smell, it was not the same, it smelled... like fish. She wrinkled her nose and helped Viola put her underwear on quickly so as to make the smell go away. The nurse returned with dinner for Viola and blood for Riven, the vampire took it eagerly, as she was hungry. It was clear the nurse was afraid of her, not that she was surprised.

Riven poked her teeth into the bag, slurping the blood out of it. No doubt if she was feeling suicidal, she could try to escape now. With no silver cuffs, the only thing that could stop her was Viola. Or maybe a gun with silver bullets. “I’m gonna let you two rest now, goodnight.” Dominic waved as he left, going to get his own dinner. Krane’s head emerged from a shadow, “human anatomy is so strange.” He shook his head, pulling himself out and sitting in the wheelchair since there were no other seats. He picked up an apple off of Viola’s tray and bit into it. “I’ve never heard of this lunar cycle business.” Riven tossed the emptied blood bag into the trash. “Such fragile things,” he shook his head, as though unimpressed by their strange needs. Riven rather agreed, humans were strange.

“Krane, I have a favor to ask of you,” he nodded, rising to his feet. “I need you to retrieve Doll and Melody’s schedules for the next week,” he disappeared into a shadow quickly. Riven lay on her stomach, even like that she took up barely any room. “How are you feeling?” Riven inquired, “Really, I’ll know if you’re lying to me.” She accused, already well-aware of Viola’s habit of dancing aroud the truth. “Your wrists are getting weaker, aren’t they?” It was critical that they leave now, that they figure out how to extract the soul piece. “Viola, would you be opposed of becoming an official Seylum once we leave this place? A real one of course, not one underneath Gavyn.” If they did manage to pull this off, Riven would have to uphold her end of the bargain of course.

It was growing late, they should have been getting ready for bed now. Riven ran a hand through her messy hair, she wrapped her blanket around her body, turning her self into a vampire burrito. “So cold,” Poor circulation was at fault of course, vampires had blood circulating through their bodies, but it was much slower than a human’s. Therefore, they were prone to chills, especially in cold weather. In the castle, whenever she had gotten cold, Athena would make up the bed with a smell heater underneath the blankets. The Princess missed those simple days, when she was just a Princess and King Seylum ruled the vampires.

Viola watched as Dominic and Riven figured out together how to apply the pad to her underwear. It was kind of funny, but she had to learn too so she could do it herself eventually. Once that was done Dominic left to allow them to rest for the night, as it was getting dark. Vi hated being here at night, since it got so much colder than normal. At least Vercingetorix Hall was well heated and insulated so they were safe from the elements for the most part. Her stomach still hurt so she decided to take one of the pills the nurse gave her to help with it. It would be annoying, but she would manage, she had had worse before. "I'm okay." Vi said but Riven didn't seem to buy it. "It's hard to pick things up and keep them in my hand." The pain was getting worse, too.

If she continued fighting, her future was looking grim in her current state. Her hands would be useless, and she was due to lose her legs too if this kept up. Now a part of her was afraid of having to use her Blood Pact to strengthen herself, no matter how necessary it may be. "So you do love me after all, Rivie-poo!" She definitely wanted to be a vampire, wasn't that the whole point? "Do you have the power to make me a Seylum?' Would a bite from Riven fix everything? Would she be a true Seylum? "Orgia can make new bloodlines, but not new Seylums." They still needed to save her once it was time. Krane would be in charge of taking care of that. He also needed to save Oliver too, from the labs where Luis once worked.

There was a lot to do so Viola patted the head of her bed. "You're cold. Let's sleep next to each other, I'm cold too." At the foot of her bed they wouldn't get to share body heat at all. With Riven close, Viola closed her eyes to get ready for bed when suddenly pain shot all the way up her legs, black lines forming, spreading from her legs to the rest of her body. Eyes blood red, the miasma was starting to get out of control. "Aah!" She slapped a hand over her mouth, she did not want to accidentally wake Jacob up. It hurt, everything hurt, just like it did back in the facility before the medicine was made.

She reached for her bag on the nightstand at the side of her bed, but it fell, slipping out of her pathetic grip, landing uselessly on the floor. The plastic bag of candies was visible but she couldn't reach it! "Riven... help, please?" It was awful being so weak and useless. Wasn't the whole point of the operation to become stronger than a human? Why did Iflet have such a strong weapon that it made permanent wounds anyways? Who thought that was a good idea? "Jacob... too." She could smell it, the black lines were growing on him too. It seemed the nurses forgot to administer the special pills, or maybe they weren't made aware of it. "Need to... wake him up."

”Yes, in order to turn someone into a vampire, you have to consciously do it while drinking their blood.” She confirmed, since they would be part of the Seylum blood line, the Orgia was not needed. Having her, however, would be a welcome touch. It would give Riven the power she needed to create more blood lines, if she wanted to. Who knew what the future look like? People might opt to become vampires in order to cure themselves of disease or other ailments. Vampires were susceptible to very few ailments. Most of them could be cured, but there was one deadly one that resulted in sudden and instantaneous death. Thankfully it was very rare and usually it would occur just after turning into a vampire, a bodily rejection of sorts. Or at least, that was how King Seylum had described it.

Riven nodded, she was cold. She crawled over to where Viola had indicated, resting her head on the pillow. Riven had no idea why she was so exhausted when she had barely moved today, perhaps it was all of the healing she had done? She rubbed her eye tiredly, preparing to drift off to sleep when she sensed something strange. Viola had stiffened beside her. “Viola?” Riven sat up, suddenly alert. It seemed she had sensed Viola’s pain through the contract, the dummy had forgotten to take her medicine again. Riven sighed as she sat upright, fetching the bag and putting a candy into Viola’s mouth. “I’ll go to Jacob,” she left the curtained area, going over to where she remembered Jacob was.

He was asleep, unaware as to what was happening. The vampire rifled through his belongings, finding the pill bottle. She popped one out and opened up Jacob’s mouth, dropping it in. He swallowed on instinct, no doubt sensing something tickling his throat. There, crisis averted. She wiped her hands on her gown and went back over to Viola, shivering once more. She clambered onto the mattress and wrapped herself into a burrito once more. “Crisis averted,” it was strange how she felt no panic despite the fact that Viola had quickly begun to freak out. “I’ll find someone who can fix your wrists,” she said quietly. No doubt there was a vampire or a demon, or someone that could heal the wounds. That is, if they couldn’t be fixed by turning into a vampire. These were mortal wounds after all, who knew what would happen when Viola turned?

“Goodnight Viola,” Riven murmured as she drifted off to sleep, protected from Vi’s attempts to touch her by wrapping everything but her face in her blanket. Or at least, she hoped it would stave off any attacks. Riven wasn’t stupid, she knew what Viola’s game was and her strange fascination with vampires. Being asleep meant that she was vulnerable to attack and needed to protect herself from the hunter’s attack on her body.

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

Viola went to sleep feeling better thanks to Riven having given her the medicine. The morning came around and she winced, the burn in her wrists getting worse. Not only were her wrists cut open and raw, but the muscles inside being constantly exposed, even with the bandages, they were deteriorating. The doctors had her on permanent antibiotics for now but that wasn't a long term solution. Medical supplies were hard enough already, it was a drain on their resources to have her keep using up the stash. "Good morning." She said to Riven, poking at her with a tingly slightly numb finger. "We have quite the day ahead of us! Let's be wives first, okay?" There was a bathing tent which was less of a tent and more of a makeshift communal bathhouse, one for the women, one for the men.

It provided much needed heat for those who did not have any. The cramps were still bothering her but Vi wanted a bath, darnit! "Can you help me into my wheelchair?" She felt all gross and sticky, like a prune left out in the sun for too long. She probably smelled just as good, too. She hadn't gotten to have a bath yesterday either. "Actually, I'm just gonna walk! Yeah!" It had been three days, her leg was fine now, right? Vi gingerly leaned to angle herself off of the bed, putting her right leg down, right flat on the ground. Next was the left leg and she felt a twinge of pain but fought through it. No pain, no gain, wasn't that what people always said when trying to sound cool? She stood, leaning with the small of her back against the bed, giving Riven a big grin. "See? I can totally do it!"

One step and she immediately fell forward, her left leg buckling under her weight. Arms reached out on reflex to protect her head and the tearing pain in her wrists got worse as they took the impact of the fall. "Nnnh." She moaned, gritting her teeth. "Okay, if I crawl we can make it." She really wanted to bath with Riven again, because they hadn't been able to do it together ever since leaving the Vercingetorix Hall behind. Right at that moment the nurse came by, looking a little confused. "Why are you on the ground?" She asked. "I wanted a good view up Riven's dress so I decided to camp on the ground!" She said with a grin, flashing the baby browns. The nurse sighed, lifting her onto the bed.

"You still can't yet. Here, another sponge bath." The nurse prepared the bucket and the sponge and soap, then looked at Riven. "Do you want me to teach you how to do it?" That way Riven could take care of it if ever there was a reason the nurses on rotation couldn't do it. "Uuurgh." Vi mumbled. Today Elise and Dom would be on a mission together, and Jacob was still knocked out so recruiting Doll and Melody was up to her and Riven. Hopefully Riven didn't miscalculate their good hearts.

The rain wouldn't stop its torrential downpour. The entire world seemed to be crying. "Riven?" The door poked open, casting a bit of light upon the otherwise dark room. "Riven? Do you want to eat?" Athena asked, her heels clicking on the floor. "Riven, you can't be so stubborn, you have to eat eventually." Athena sat down on the mattress, but the vampire wasn't interested in food. She lay curled in a ball underneath the blankets, still wearing her nightgown. "The funeral is today," Athena murmured, running a hand through Riven's hair. "They're going to expect you to be there, you're their crown Princess after all." Riven shook her head, her entire body aching. It wasn't real, she told herself every time she awoke from her feverish haze. King Seylum would waltz in any second and demand she transform.

Athena wordlessly made her sit up and drink, the vampire sucking the blood down slowly. She felt as though she were moving through fog as the nursemaid dressed her funeral black. The two headed down the stairs, a screen already set over the portrait of King Seylum. She felt sick to her stomach as they passed it, feeling his eyes on the back of her neck, still watching her, scrutinizing her. Stand up straight, he would snap, you're going to be Queen. The funeral was a large and grand, but somber affair. Those who attended wore their finest black coats. They gave her their apologies, he truly was a great King. Her hands balled into fists each time, on the verge of tears. Athena would place her hand on Riven's shoulder, holding an umbrella up so that she would not get soaked by rain as so many others were.

She stood there until the cemetery closed. She stood there until her toes had gone cold and numb. She stood there until the pain began to ebb and her resolve had hardened. She was Princess now.

She was going to be Queen.

Riven awoke to the sound of Viola falling out of bed. She rubbed one eye, using her other hand to push herself upright. "What are you doing?" Riven asked, watching her. What did Viola think was going to happen? That she would miraculously be cured? "Are you stupid?" Riven rose to help Viola up, but a nurse had already come to take her place, insisting on a sponge bath. "Sure, I guess I'll learn." Riven shrugged, although she did not think that she would ever partake in something so undignified. If anything, she would have Athena bathe her, if they did ever get to that point. Riven had no doubt in her mind that Viola considered herself to be a Princess in her own right, spoiled by all of the others.

She herself needed a bath, but she could not go to a public area unescorted. Once the bath was done, Krane poked his head out of the shadows, handing them both clothing and the schedule. "Thank you for your hard work," Krane seemed to light up at the acknowledgement as he sank back into the shadows. "Sit up, we have clothing now. I'll push you to where Doll and Melody will be." Riven would try to do the convincing, but if it failed, well then perhaps Viola could at least get them to be quiet about it or look the other way. After all, she was in a rather sorry state.

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

Viola floundered on the ground, trying to crawl to the bathhouse. She didn't want to be sponge bathed, so this would be the great heroic escape of Viola, super huntress of vampires. Only true heroes can manage an escape like this. Sadly, she was easily picked up and placed back onto her bed for the sponge bath and bandage replacing and quarter daily dosage of antibiotics. Riven asked if she was stupid and Vi knew this wasn't the first time Riven wondered something along those lines. "No I'm not, I was going to save us." She whimpered, allowing the nurse to finish the sponge bath no matter how much she didn't want it. "It's not the same if we can't take a bath together and I can't touch - I mean, I can't help you wash yourself."

Okay fine, maybe she had a little bit of ulterior motives, but Riven was a piece of art. That cute body of hers was far too adorable to be understood, that much was certain. Krane appeared after the nurse left and wished them a good day. Was it strange that a male vampire could be hidden and watching you at all times? No, Vi didn't mind. Heck, an audience was kind of exciting if you think about it. Plus, he was friendly and on their side and that was always a plus in these trying times. Vi wriggled into the casual uniform given to her, not as formal as the battle uniform they wore, but still largely white in color but with pink highlights. She glanced down at the schedule - it seemed in a few hours Chris and Doll would be scouting the highway to Heidelburg to plan the approach route, while this afternoon Flame and Melody were to scavenge the nearby woods for food.

They were both free right now, then. "Apparently the sisters are rooming together, so they might still be getting prepared for the day." Viola read the schedule, figuring that that made sense. "Krane, can you scan it when we're there to make sure it isn't bugged?" While it was doubtful they would do something like bug Doll's tent, you never could be too careful. With help Vi was lowered into the wheelchair and she wondered how long it would take until her leg became hers again. Hopefully not too long, at least.

While Viola knew Doll and was familiar with her, she had never really met Melody before, as Melody and Flame had gone missing before Vi and Julia were taken to Castle Seylum. If Melody was anything like Doll, maybe this would get dangerous. Her phone lit up - thankfully on silent now. Viola pried it out of her pocket to glance at it. "It's from Wolfe." She read, a little surprised. "He's inviting us for a drive after lunch today to patrol with him." It would be a patrol of the northern highway, so it would be safer and most likely not result in a fight. "Should we accept?"

Riven dressed in the clothing Krane had brought them. They were casual uniforms that he had snatched so that they might blend in easier. Riven didn't mind of course, it was preferable to the thin hospital gown she had been wearing since her battle uniform had been cut off of her to treat her wounds. The silver stab wound had since healed completely, leaving not even a scar behind. She was eager to leave the tent and begin proactively working towards their escape. They only had a week to plan this and their timing had to be perfect or else they would get caught in the cross fire, or worse, caught by Lorraine. Krane left," Riven informed Viola, who no doubt could not sense the demon's presence the same way she could. He returned a moment later, "The room is clean, they're still in there."

"Thank you Krane," he disappeared once more and Riven assisted Viola into her wheelchair. "You should accept, it'll give us an opportunity to scout." Besides, Riven rather liked Wolf. He was a strange human, he had knowledge of things that most humans only dared to dream of. His presence was very much a welcome one. "Ready?" Riven gripped the handles of the wheelchair, small, but mighty. She propelled Viola forward, leaving behind the medical tent in search of the officer's tents. It was easy to locate where Doll and Melody were sleeping, as it was the only tent with a decorated exterior. "This is it," she knocked on the wooden pole between the tent flaps. "Come in!" A voice rang, not Doll's, it must have been Melody's.

Riven pushed Viola inside, the interior just as decorated. The two beds had what looked to be silk sheets, Doll's had a temporary canopy set up and there were fairy lights glittering on the ceiling. "Oh, it's you," Melody smiled. Doll turned around, applying lipstick. "Viola, Riven, to what do we owe the pleasure?" She took in their state, clearly displeased by the outfits they were wearing. Never mind that, they had a limited window of time. Riven glanced at Viola before stepping forward, but Doll started speaking. "Oh, where are my manners? Melody, this is Riven and her Master, Viola." Master? Riven glowered at the use of that term. "She's like a pink haired Echo!" Melody squeaked, running over to hug her. "Just as tall and that face you made just now? It was exactly like her's!" Riven suddenly found herself lifted off of her feet.

"Except she's much more amicable and a vampire," Doll nodded in agreement. Riven disagreed, from what she saw, she was nothing like that fearful, crying demon. "What was it you were going to say?" Riven was replaced on her feet. The vampire fixed her jacket and shook her head, never mind that, she needed to get this on with. "We need your help with something." Riven began, glancing at Viola once more, hopefully the hunter's sorry state would help convince them. "With what?" Melody asked, kneeling down to play with Riven's hair. It was clear she did not take her seriously.

"We want to go AWOL."

It had been a little hard to get dressed but Vi did her best, grinning once she was finished. She always loved getting into uniform and she didn't really know why. Maybe it was because the casual uniform was quite comfortable, it felt good on her body. "You're looking good, Riven! Perfect for my wife." She pretended to try to squeeze her vampire's butt as they got ready to head out. Krane gave the confirmation that they would be okay, that Doll and Melody's room was not bugged and that they were both still there. "Okay, let's go!" Viola pointed ahead, pretending she was a car and Riven was her driver, pretending this was a racing game against other imaginary racers. She tapped the phone to confirm that yes, she and Riven would be happy to go with Wolfe scouting.

The door opened to Riven's knock and they were introduced to Doll and Melody, the two elder King sisters. Echo was the smallest but she had vanished quite some time ago, hadn't she? Not even Wei knew where she could have gone, it perplexed everyone. There was so much security in the nursery, poor Shiro was in tears. Immediately the blonde one picked Riven up, enamored by her adorableness. "Hey, that's mine! But she is super cute, isn't she?" A mix of pride and candor was in her voice as she rubbed at the bandages on her wrists. "Nice to meet you, Melody. I'm Viola!" She gave her best smile, and a thumbs up to boot.

Riven decided now was the best time to divulge the plan. They did not really believe it at first but when Riven repeated it, their faces changed a little. "That's pretty serious." Doll said, voice neutral. "What made this come along?" Viola held up her wrists, removing the bandages. It was time to play the pity card, wasn't it? "These won't heal ever. And that means I might get disposed of and be useless." Well, she was already useless, and disposal was next on the list if it was discovered that she could barely even hold things in her hands anymore. "If I go, Riven will be executed too! So we have to go!"

Her eyes focused, an uncharacteristic serious look in her eyes. "We're all just kids. We don't want to fight anymore." Naturally, there was a practical reason for doing this as well, not only to save her friends from further injuries or possible death. "Going rogue we might have an opportunity to finish the war quicker than your army can. While the vampires focus on vanquishing the Alliance, we can sneak in with the eyes not on us." And once Riven is on the throne, the vampires would leave the war. Doll did not look convinced, however. "There's a lot of problems with that plan." Doll said sternly. "Most important of which is the fact that without medicine, you'll all die but Riven."

Riven was glad for Viola's assistance. It seemed as though Doll was not totally against the plan, even if she did state that they would all die without the medicine. "Without the medicine, they become demons." Melody's eyes widened, it seemed they had failed to inform her just what these hunters were. "As it stands, their bodies are in rapid decline. If we don't do something soon, their lives will be considerably shortened." It seemed as though Riven was going to have to divulge all of the information, she had been hoping to just get by with the minimal in case Doll denied their request and told their superiors. "The others have already been stealing and building up a supply of the pills and Viola's candies. As it stands we currently have enough for three months, which should give us plenty of time to figure out how to extract the demon soul piece."

Melody looked between them, her expression was carefully neutral. "You'll never survive out there, Iflet won't hesitate to kill all of you," Doll crossed her arms, cocking a hip, it was clear that she was going to deny their request. IT seemed that Riven was going to have to use the card she had been saving, black mail. "With your assistance, we can disappear the same way you did with Hawk and Echo." The two demons stiffened. Riven tossed her pink hair over her shoulders, it seemed that Viola was going to learn that vampires were not only able to use physical warfare, but mental as well. Their stiffness confirmed it. "You really are like Echo, aren't you?" Melody laughed, there was nothing mean about it, she seemed to be genuinely pleased.

"You two are the ones that smuggled her out of VH, aren't you?" Riven crossed her arms as Doll's fell to her side. "We had no other choice," the blonde demon shook her head, "Wei was never going to send her to rehabilitation. She wasn't making any progress." Her mouth was set in a thin line. "So you made her and Hawk disappear," Doll nodded. "We'll help you," Melody said suddenly, walking forward. She held out a hand to Viola, "the humans have been walking all over us for far too long. It's about time someone showed them that demons and humans with demon soul pieces aren't just tools." Doll stood where she was, it was clear she still did not agree to this.

"You don't have to agree with it Doll, you've done plenty of controversial things before. Where's your sense of adventure?" Melody moved to nudge Doll in the ribs with an elbow. Gently of course, "Think about Sonata, what would you do if it was her in this position?" The demon continued in a whisper. "Fine," Doll's shoulders straightened, "I'll help you, even if I don't agree with these methods. So tell me, what's the plan for the escape?"

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

The exact details of what they were was a mystery. Oliver came back as a demon, but it seemed even more did not come back at all. Did they all become demons and were experimented on and disposed of? Or did something special need to happen to be a demon? Viola didn't know, none of the details ever were given to the survivors in the end, other than that if they didn't have medicine, they would die. "I always thought it was strange." Doll said quietly, looking at Viola. "Why do you hybrids need medicine, but others don't? Princess Charlotte and Ariel both have soul pieces inside them, but they're perfectly stable and are immortal thanks to it." Obviously, that had to mean Luis's experiment wasn't just implanting the soul pieces, but involved something else too, something more intensive.

With some blackmail - a genius and attractive move from Riven that made Vi's mouth water a little - the King sisters agreed to help with their plan. Doll now wanted more details on what exactly their plan would be. "Well, you know the big fight about to happen for Heidelburg?" Both Melody and Doll nodded, as both had important roles in helping prepare for the assault. "It's going to be a bloodbath." Melody shook her head, looking anxious. Maybe she didn't like fighting anymore, maybe she was weary after so much of it for so long. Ever since Baroness Zinnia had freed the Kings, nothing was ever truly peaceful since. "We're gonna escape after opening the gate." The Blood Pact was assigned to sneaking in to get the gate to the city opened. If they could do that, then vanish into the chaos it would be nigh impossible to chase them.

"What about Jacob? He won't be at the battle." Doll narrowed her eyes in questioning. It was clear if she did not like their answers she may retract her offer to help. Vi was going to have to be convincing. "That's where you and Mel come in! If you can smuggle him out the way you did Echo, we can meet up with you and him and make our way." That was a lot of responsibility to put onto the two of them, but no one else would help them. It had to be these two. "Three months. Will you be able to kill the Seylums in time?" Doll crossed her arms dismissively. "You might be good, but that's not much time at all." If they wanted to put Riven on the throne, they needed to be able to fight. Without being hybrids, a fight would end in Riven's death. Even with the four of them, it would be dangerous.

"My sister is there. I'm sure she has friends." Julia still loved her, Viola knew it, right? Obviously their sisterly bond would be strong after all these years. "I can talk to her and get her and her friends to help us against the Seylums!" Melody looked as if she liked that idea. "Yeah! Sisterly bonds are great!" She gave Doll a hug, wanting the interogation to stop. "Every moment I was with the Adamanta Mages, I kept thinking of you, sis." Doll looked less believing. "Wasn't your sister the one that nearly killed you with a whip?" Viola laughed robotically. "It was out of love?"She tried, shrugging unconvincingly.

Doll groaned, rolling her eyes. "I want to have a plan that sounds like it can work. Otherwise, you're all just marching into death." Doll sounded strict as she spoke. "You'd best be able to sort all this out. You have to be prepared."

"We'll fix the kinks, we're going to make it work," Riven was determined to make this plan go smoothly, she needed it to. Staying here, with these hunters, with these humans, it was a dead end. "You're sick of it too, are you not?" Riven spoke softly, "The fighting, it never seems to end." Doll's shoulders sagged, if just a little bit. "We were bred for war," Doll and Riven had known each other for a very long time, of course. Melody and Echo had yet to be hatched. Melody was still an egg when Riven had disappeared. Yes, the two demons were that old. "This was your purpose too, was it not?" Doll's eyes met her own knowingly. "King Seylum did not wish for war between the vampires and humans. As much as the hunters tried to stir it up, his intentions were never to exterminate the humans."

She glanced at Viola, "We have Viola's sister on the inside. Even if she tried to kill her, I'm sure she did it out of desperation. I'm certain this was not her wish for her." Doll nodded, she glanced at Melody. No doubt the eldest of the three King sisters did not wish this for her siblings either. "And if that doesn't work, I'll kill them all myself. They are Seylums, after all." Riven could control them, she wasn't sure how many at a time, as she had only ever seen King Seylum use the ability over one vampire in particular. It was usually used for the recently turned and unruly. Riven had been on the receiving end of it multiple times, she knew it wasn't a pleasant sensation to have your limbs turned against you.

"We have to go," Melody glanced at the clock on their tent wall. They needed to get to their squad meeting before they would head out to fight. "Good luck," Riven murmured as they passed. Her shoulders sagged, she breathed out a sigh of relief once they were alone. The vampire took the handles of Viola's wheelchair once more. "That was easier than I thought it was going to be." The vampire admitted, wondering if she should be suspicious. Melody had seemed to take to her though, even if it was merely out of her feelings for wanting to protect her sister. Riven knew their secret, she could tell on them whenever she wished. Not that she would of course, as that poor demon and vampire needed time to rest.

"You don't think they'll betray us, do you?" Riven asked Viola as she wheeled them out of the tent and to where they were supposed to meet Wolfe. Hopefully this was just scouting and they wouldn't have to do any fighting, as Riven wasn't wearing the uniform and she wasn't in the mood either. "Oh, there you two are!" Lorraine chirped, spotting them. "I checked the medical tent, but you weren't there. Riven, hold out your wrists," the vampire sighed, having expected this. The silver cuffs clapped down, her skin crying out in response. She felt dizzy, having been freed of them of them for so long only to be reduced to half strength once more.

For now they were going to help but that could easily change if Doll didn't think they were prepared for it. After all, their own necks would be on the line if this went wrong, they had to be careful and make sure it worked. The sisters left then, so Viola and Riven had to go too. "We hope you help." She said to Doll and then smiled at Melody. "And it's nice to meet you, Melody!" She had only seen the singer once before, and that was in Frisia in the fight against Wernicke. Riven was worried that they may betray them but Viola shook her head. "You told us to trust them, so I know they're okay." She and Doll appeared to be old friends, from before all of this. Surely that wasn't for nothing.

Lorraine arrived, with Fifi behind them, familiar silver cuffs in hand. Poor Riven, she had to be shackled yet again. Hopefully it didn't hurt, but Vi knew there was nothing she could say to help her for now. "Aww, cute." She dangled the collar still on Riven's neck, touching the bell. "I love my wife so very much!" Lorraine sighed, seeming exhausted for some reason. "Sorry, but this is the way it has to be. The others are getting anxious when you don't have them on." Viola frowned a little. "But I can keep her under control, right?" Lorraine looked at her with sympathy. "They don't really trust you either after you cut your throat the other day. We have to go, but take care, okay?" She looked at Riven in particular. "Don't do anything foolish."

It wasn't long until they arrived at the hangar. Wolfe was already there, sporting a grin. Naturally he wasn't going to wear a helmet, he would never need one because he was too cool for it. "There y'all are. I was wondering if you'd ever get here." The hangar tent was large and tall, it had to be to be able to fit all the vehicles the Alliance would need to be able to fight the war against the vampires and demons. "We're here!" Wolfe helped her into the side car and allowed Riven to get into hers after Viola had Riven help her with her helmet. "I'm an expert, but you kids still need helmets just in case." He grinned, revealing a fanged tooth before revving the engine and they set out.

The northern highway would take them to Cologne. Naturally, they didn't have to go all the way, since hunters in Cologne would be doing their part and patrol halfway as well. "Do you like fighting, Wolfe?" Vi asked, wondering why he was in this. A man like him didn't seem to be the type to care much about the fight of humanity. "Not really. Maybe more when I was younger." He was still young, but definitely getting on in years now. One day soon he could be a grizzled old warrior. "This war better end soon." He grit his teeth. "I gotta get back to Ariel. It's been years, the girl must be worried." For once he seemed anxious, his usual carefree smile not on his face.

"I thought you did." Vi looked at the noon sun bearing overhead, not hot enough to melt away the snow surrounding them. The blizzard from the other day had gone away but it was still frigid out here, moreso than in the town of tents that was Koblens. Wolfe had to act strong, otherwise he wouldn't keep the respect of his Berserkers. Still, that didn't mean he was happy to be here. "A man gets weary after a while, y'know? I can only live so long." There were more lines on his face than the last time Vi saw him. "One of these days, even my luck as a pretty boy may run out." Who would take care of Ariel if not for Wolfe was the unasked question. Even more reason to end this war quickly. They needed to get Wolfe back to his little girl.

The week rolled on slowly. They met each evening, all of them, under the guise of visiting Jacob. With Doll on their side, he no longer feared death at the hands of his brother. Doll had not told anyone else, she simply said she would be going to visit the ill and Christopher thought nothing of it, using the time to call Shiro, who was with Sonata. The poor baby missed her parents, but would have to make due until they returned from the forefront. She hoped that by ending this war faster, she would get to spend more time with her baby. Doll had chips on this bet, they had best make good on their promise, lest they seek the wrath of the strongest demon-hunter pair London had. The day before they were set to leave, they were fitted for new uniforms. These ones were lined with fur, much warmer than their previous ones, which would help them survive the tundra.

Riven did not protest when she was fitted and handed a new outfit. It looked virtually the same, but was a bit thicker. She was allotted a knife as well, but it was silver and she could not touch it with her bare hands. It made sense of course, as it was the only effective tool against vampires. If only they had recalled that she too, was a vampire, when giving it to her. She had nearly burned her fingers on the foil. Nevertheless, sheathed the weapon, figuring it might come in handy later on. Thankfully the thick layer of clothing prevented it from touching her. The evening before, she and Viola were sleeping in a regular tent with two beds, a small heater between them. "Tomorrow," she whispered as the lights went out. Tomorrow they would make their escape.

They were up at sunrise, a trumpet blasting throughout the camp as it did every morning, at 5 AM. Riven wasn't happy at having to wake up so early of course, but she knew it was essential to get an early start, as the vampires and demons would be changing the shifts soon. The breakfast tent was bustling with activity. Riven felt tense as she sat beside Viola, reaching for her blood bag. "Do you think the winds will be bad?" She asked causally as Elise and Dominic joined them. "The weather is actually supposed to be pretty sunny, surprisingly," Dominic said, handing Riven the cereal he had gotten her from the breakfast line. She brightened instantly, mixing it with her blood. The salty, sweet contrast was pleasant on her tongue, if not a bit gross for all of the humans watching. She would need to ask Athena to buy this Colossal Frosted Crunch for her once they returned to her castle.

Their bikes were waiting. They passed Doll and Christopher, the demon giving a subtle nod. Riven sat in the sidecar, pulling a helmet on, her dead heart thrumming in her chest. This was it, the moment they had been preparing for. Why did dread fill her heart? Was it because she knew that they were leaving the others behind in the blood bath? Was it something else? "Ready?" Riven asked, well aware that they had been tasked with breaking the gate down. The plan was as follows: they broke the gate down, but instead of retreating as they were supposed to, they would rid themselves of their contact equipment. A meeting point had been set up with Doll and Melody, where Jacob would be passed on to them. From there, they would take the bikes and drive as far as they could.

Hopefully they wouldn't get caught. Hopefully they wouldn't get caught in the crossfire and killed.

Viola looked at her boots, feeling confident. She made an order to Ellen and yesterday her boots came in, her Rhomphaia was attached to the soles so now she can fight with kicks to cut enemies with the many knife blades. She only had a day to practice with them, but it already felt fine even if it was a different fighting style than her same old. Elise and Dominic looked grim but ready as Lorraine wished them good luck. "I'll be right there at our defensive line." She said, trying to reassure them. "I know you'll all be okay." Two Tower Agents would be in charge of of the main army - Miranda Eldriss and Wolfe. They would be close by. From the rear Leonard, Juria and Erasmus were protecting the back, so they had to escape to the east to meet up with Doll, Melody, and Jacob.

The ride to Heidelburg was quiet. They were nearly one hundred strong, but their bikes made a good amount of noise. "The enemies are going to know we're there." Miranda informed everyone as Wicked sat in her sidecar, playing with her grenade toy. "Get ready for a tough fight." Miranda and Wolfe would take their forces to engage outside the walls, in order to distract Baron Lipidus's army to allow the Blood Pact to sneak over the wall and open the gate. "You're all only allowed to die if you kill two enemies with you!" Wolfe growled, gritting his teeth. Once he loved battle but now, he only wanted to return to Ariel alive and well. Viola waved lazily at Riven from her sidecar with Elise driving the bike. Dominic was driving the bike Riven was attached to. "We all have to stay within eyesight of one another." He told them seriously, brow furrowed with worry and fret. "That way we can look out for each other if anything happens."

The walls of Heidelburg stood tall and strong. The Alliance stopped their advance and prepared to start engaging. Viola, naturally, sliced through the silver cuffs with a kick, grinning in nervous anticipation. "We're gonna do this. Stop looking so anxious, wife!" Elise pulled at her ear with a sigh. "Focus, Vi. Jacob isn't here so you can't relax." He was still too wounded to fight but at least stable enough that as long as they changed his bandages and cleaned the wounds he would heal up fine. Miranda, Wicked, and their soldiers approached the gate. The former gang leader pulled out her handcannon, sneering. "Baron Lipidus! Give us back our city!" She fired, the bullets causing explosions as they struck the walls. Demons and vampires alike were atop the walls, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

A purple haired Baron stood atop the Gate itself, shrugging as if this was all a bother. "You humans really are pathetic. When I took this city, all I wanted was my Empress back, my Queen. But you never did return her to me." He grinned maliciously, madly in love with Echo, the former Baroness Nova. "All the citizens of this city have become good obedient farm animals for the vampires." Wicked giggled like an insane child and cut her arm off, throwing it over the wall, creating a giant explosion. She was a powerful demon, known as the Mad Bomber by those who knew her.

With that, the fighting began in earnest. Wolfe rode over to where the Blood Pact were stationed in the center line. "It's time, kids. Stay safe out there. Don't let Lipidus see you - we'll try to keep him occupied for you brats." He drove away to join the fight, large sword trailing with his bike. "Follow after me." Dominic said, since he was the leader. "Riven, try not to make it obvious that you're here. If the Seylums find out, they'll come." Viola snickered, patting him on the arm. "Silly, it'll be fine! We never lose!" They slashed their arms, eyes glowing red as they jumped the wall under cover of the smoke from Wicked's bomb arm.

"Are you alright?" Dominic asked, glancing at Riven as they rode, the wind whipping through her hair. "Yes, just nervous," she admitted, leaning back in her seat. She reached up to pull her wild hair down, fitting all of her pink locks beneath a snug cap. There, now no one would know it was her. Unless of course they noticed her small stature, glowing red eyes, pointed ears, and fangs. "We're gonna be fine," Dominic replied as he revved the engine. "Everyone will be too focused on the fighting to notice us slipping away." Riven nodded, but the assurance was not much. Lorraine would be watching them and others might wonder where they had gone off to. Riven shook her head, this was no time to be worrying herself, they had everything ready. Or as ready as they could have it.

She scowled when Viola yelled at her to stop looking so anxious. "I'm not your wife," Riven murmured, crossing her arms. Dominic laughed, they were going close now. Miranda and Wolfe were giving everyone instructions. They were not to die unless they took two others with them. Hopefully, if everything went to plan, none of them would die. Well, Riven's plan anyhow. She didn't quite care how the humans fared after today. She was glad to be rid of them and would be glad to be rid of these bonds. Viola sliced through the silver cuffs with ease, it was time at last to for the action to start. A Baron had scaled the gate, standing atop. Wicked was quick to send an exploding arm at him, knocking him down.

Just like that the fighting had begun, it was their time to shine. Riven looked at the others, who cut their arms. "That's why I covered it," she pointed to the hat where her hair had been tucked underneath. They wouldn't recognize her if it was covered, surely? She closed her eyes, took in a deep breath, opened them, and leaped. Riven landed on top of the wall, it was taller than she had expected. They slid down the other side, a fluffy pile of snow awaiting them. What did they do now? "Look for a mechanism to open up the gate," Dominic informed them. "Elise and I will that side. Vi, you and Riven look around here, it should look like a stick." A stick? That was oddly specific.

"A stick," Riven murmured underneath her breath. Almost instantly they were assaulted by a demon. It was one of a lesser level, but a demon nonetheless. The vampire back peddled when it jumped out at them, slashing. Riven pulled out her knife, using it to cut through the beast. Its soul piece glimmered in the snow, dead in an instant. "That was easy, now let's find that stick and get the heck out of here." She turned back towards Viola, hoping that they would not be attacked again. She had watched Viola practice the day before with her new knives, but Riven wasn't sure how confident Vi felt about them.

Over the wall they went, and Viola was more than ready. Rhomphaia felt good attached to her boots, they may not be throwing knives anymore but she was glad to still be able to fight now. Dominic and Elise went to take care of one side of the gate, leaving Riven and Viola assigned to do the other. Up above them on the walls and battlements the demons and vampires were pelting the Alliance with attacks. The fighting was already intense, and it would only get worse once the gate opened. "I hope Wolfe lives." Viola murmured quietly to herself as Riven quickly solod a demon with little to no effort. "Hey! You've got the moves!" She grinned Riven's way then turned towards their side of the inner gate. Where was the lever to raise it up?

Hieidelberg had a two gate system, an Inner and an Outer. They would have to open both sets in order to allow the Alliance to breach the city and take it back. They could hear the sounds of Valkyrie firing it's lasers while Dom pulled on the first lever. Viola decided to kick it, to see if that would work but it didn't. "I can't pull with my hands as they are." Viola admitted, shaking her head at the knobbed metal stick in the side of the wall. "You need to pull it upwards and time it with Dominic's side to open the Inner Gate. I'll cover you, okay?" It would take around a minute for this gate to fully open, after which they could duck into the alcove and take care of the Outer Gate. Two demons charged at them, tasked with protecting the gate so Viola jumped, eyes red, landing a drop kick on one demon's head, spinning to whack the other one away with her foot, slashing at it's hands with her knife boots.

One was a soul piece, the other lunged at her again, fangs bared, a shadowy tendril reaching towards her. She kicked it away and did a spinning kick to send it away. She grinned, panting. "I haven't been able to fight for a long time." It was a good idea to ask Ellen for help based on her strengths. Her legs were enhanced the most by the Blood Pact, so naturally it made sense to turn them into weapons of death. The Inner Gate had risen and Dominic and Riven could press a button to lock it in place as the four made it into the inner alcove between the two gates. Once again another set of levers was waiting to be raised simultaneously. "On three, Riven." Dom said, gritting his teeth. "One... two... three!" He pulled on the lever, yanking as hard as he could.

"Vi,, help me protect them." Elise set up Valkyria, mounting it on the ground to fire at enemies trying to get in. The sounds of battle were all around them, and Viola kicked a demon away that tried to get close, knocking them into the Valkyria's electric bolt. Suddenly they heard a strange noise all about them. It didn't sound like the normal sound of demons, but something else. "Plants?" Elise looked confused. Baron Lipidus stood at the Inner Gate, as numerous flowers and plants rose up, all powered by his hands. "I knew you visitors were here." He grinned, sneering. "Maybe I can get my Queen back by capturing you hybrids."

"I can pull the lever," as long as Viola provided her with the cover. Riven pulled the first one, Viola protecting her with her fancy new boots. "Nice," the vampire nodded, glad they had already gotten over the first hurdle. Now came the second, the first gate opened, demons attempting to stop them. Riven used her new knife, able to fight at full strength without the cuffs holding her back. She grit her teeth, slashing a demon in half and running in through the small gap in the first wall, Dominic following behind her. They took position, prepared to open the second one. Riven glanced at Dominic, waiting for his count down and pulling the second lever. It was harder to pull, but Riven threw all of her weight into it.

She grunted, the lever going downwards at the same time as Dominic's. "We did it!" She threw a fist in the air, running back towards Viola in a sort of victory lap. Vines began to grow from the ground, green despite the snow. Riven backed up, grabbing her knife to hack at the growth. Flowers popped up as well, the gate opening slowly. "Riven!" Dominic suddenly called, pulling her attention away from keeping Viola from getting strung up. "Turn into a chainsaw!" She had no idea what that was, but she tried, her body apparently knowing more than she did. Dominic cut through the vines, making his way to Elise in order to free her. The two of them rounded on Viola, freeing her third. "Let's get out of here," the fight was being taken inside of the gate now, it seems that the humans in the village had begun their own rebellion, perhaps on purpose to coincide with the attack, perhaps just in coincidence.

"Riven, turn back," Dominic ordered, her hat falling off as she returned to her human form. "Let's get out of here while they're distracted!" Riven bellowed, grabbing Viola's hand. Almost instantly a vine entwined around their hands, pulling them both off of the ground. "Tch, pest!" She grabbed out her knife, attempting to hack at it. "Viola, help me!" They couldn't get caught here, they had to meet up with Doll and Melody. They needed to go, now. "Got it!" At last she sawed through it, the two of them falling to the ground. Riven took Viola's hand once more, running towards where Dominic and Elise were already retreating. Her hat was gone, it had disappeared somewhere in the snow.

An explosion sounded somewhere behind them, the ground shaking. Riven tripped in the snow, this really was becoming a war zone. "This way!" Dominic ushered them, they needed to make it over the wall again, at a different part and back towards the bikes. Riven prayed that they could make it back as the fighting continued to rocket in all directions. She couldn't pour on her vampire speed, not here and risk outrunning them and giving them away. Therefore, she was the slowest of the group, being the shortest of them all. "Almost there," Riven hated running.

The vines were wrapping up around them. Viola kicked and kicked but she couldn't tear her leg free and her hands were too weak so she couldn't pull any of it off. Baron Lipidus grinned, fangs bared, they were all caught in the green embrace of his flowers. The gate was opening, but Lipidus was going to get rid of them here if they couldn't get away. The Alliance wouldn't be able to get to them on time. Dominic and his quick thinking turned Riven into a chainsaw and cut the plants away, ripping them apart. "We have to go before they see us." Elise said, shaking the dead vines off of her legs. "Oh no! Here!" They couldn't let Riven be seen, her pink hair was far too vibrant. Viola wrapped her in her jacket, deciding to not mind the cold.

Well, she did mind the cold but it was more important to protect Riven right now so she covered Riven's hair with her white jacket. "We gotta move! Then we'll be free!" Dominic swiped at some enemies in front of them while Elise fired, Valkyria now in handgun mode. An explosion sounded behind them and Vi held her hand out for Riven so they could make sure they didn't get separated. The sounds of war was all around them, this was their best chance to make an escape. The wall towards freedom was beckoning to them, all they had to do was make it through the snow and the combat. A demon pounced on Riven but was shot mid-air by Elise, her gun steady and strong. "Hurry up, I'll cover you." Elise walked backwards then, firing her electric bolts at anyone who tried to get close to Riven and Viola. She looked so pretty, Vi hoped she could be elegant like Elise one day.

There was an unmistakable scream. Viola turned back, knowing that voice anywhere. "Wolfe." He was bleeding, Lipidus had stabbed him through the stomach with a bamboo spear, poison ivy wrapping around his arms to pin him down. He was separated from the others and - "Don't look back! We have to keep going!" Elise muttered. Feeling guilt drip down her spine, the german nodded, turning away. Wolfe was a friend, but he wasn't their responsibility. He was screaming not because he felt pain, but because if he died, he wouldn't get to go home to his little girl. It was his worst fear coming true - and it was also the perfect cover for the Blood Pact to make progress unseen, unheard.

They were finally at the wall. "I'll go first to make sure it's safe. Elise, stay back to make sure Vi and Riven make it." Dominic ordered and Elise nodded, ever the loyal second in command. "Alright. Riven, your turn, then Viola." Vi nodded, swinging her bladed boots at another demon, feeling tired but also surprised that she had made it this far without injury. As Viola jumped up suddenly she felt a huge impact behind her, knocking her to the ground, blinding white light and ringing in her ears. Elise had fallen to her knees, slamming into the wall by the blast. "Dammit, Wicked!" Dominic growled. "Hey! Are you two okay?" But Viola couldn't hear it, couldn't hear anything the ringing was too strong.

She was dizzy as she pulled herself up, the snow and gristle flying about. There was another flash and then she shielded her head as the blast blew apart another part of the city. The mad bomber, the Second General of Hell was enjoying her work. "Elise!" Vi cried as she found her, her eyes were bleeding, there was blood and red raw flesh. She looked at her own arms and saw they were scorched by the heat of Wicked's explosions. "Where are you?" Elise asked, looking around. "I can't see you, Viola!" Was she - no, there was no time to worry about that for now. "Come on, we can make it!" She kicked Elise into the air, knocking her to the other side, then jumped over herself, wincing from the pain. Wicked had started throwing bombs at them, but whether it was because she was trying to stop them or she was just throwing them randomly without a thought Vi had no idea.

The explosion made her ears ring and her vision shake. Riven closed her eyes, she needed to make it over the wall. "Come on!" Dominic called, the vampire leaping to clear it. She ran across the top, sliding down the wall on the other side. Dominic caught her and set her down. "Viola, you're up next!" Another explosion rocked the world violently. Riven closed her eyes once more, it was far too loud. Far too bright for her comfort either, she was not enjoying this. When Riven opened her eyes up once again Viola was sailing over with Elise, both injured badly. "Shit," Dominic cursed, this was not part of the plan. They had prepared for minor injuries, but not explosions and blindness. "Riven, you sit on the back of the bike. Viola, Elise, you two in the sidecar." Dominic ordered, as none of them could really drive in this shape.

"Vi, are you alright?" Riven asked as she helped guide Elise into the sidecar. The vampire sat on the back of Dominic's bike, the engine stalling. "Come on, come on," he egged it onwards, the bike eventually taking off. Riven held on tightly, having never sat on the back before. "We did it," she breathed, feeling as though a massive weight had been lifted off of her chest. Now they just needed to meet Doll and Melody and they would be free. Her heart leaped into her throat at the thought of finally, after all of these years, she would at last be free of her chains. The thought made her shake a bit. She had lived on everyone else's terms but her own and now at last she would be free to do, see, and exist as she wished. "We'll need to get Viola and Elise medical attention as soon as we can." Riven spoke softly, unable to be heard over the wind.

They were coming close to the meeting spot. The closer they drove, the more Riven shook. "Wait," she sat upright, smelling something in the air. "Wait, Dominic stop. Stop!" She tugged on his coat frantically. The humans couldn't smell it. "Dominic, stop the bike!" Riven yelled frantically. They were growing ever closer. There was something wrong, she could smell demon, but there were too many of them. It was only supposed to be Doll, Melody, and Jacob. They were hit from underneath, a land mine set off as soon as they drove over it. The bike flipped violently, spinning out. Riven screamed as she hit the road, they had walked right into a set up. Had Doll and Melody given them away? No, they would never do that, not to the enemy.

Almost instantly Riven was pinned to the ground, her limbs held down by strong arms so that she couldn't move. "Let go of me!" The vampire squirmed, her vision hazy. Everything smelled like ash, she couldn't tell whether these were humans, demons, or something else. Her vision was blurred from having hit her head, there were stars dancing in her eyes. Viola? Where was Viola? And Elise? And Dominic? Were the humans alright? She would be fine, a hit like that would only injure her at most, it hadn't been strong enough to blow any of her limbs off, but the humans were softer, their flesh more malleable. "Let me go!" Riven screamed, thrashing, but she could barely move.

Elise was blind, it was awful. Was this the price of freedom? "Don't freak out. Just don't let go of my hand." Elise was pale and shaking but she bit her lip in order to be brave in the darkness that was blindness. "We don't know if... if it's permanent yet. Okay?" Dominic nodded, helping her into the sidecar. "I'm okay." Vi said, still having trouble hearing anything. She turned her head to the other side and caught half of what Riven was saying. "I think my left ear is busted. Maybe it'll wear off?" The ringing was so loud she could barely make sense of anything. "Be glad we don't have to fight Wicked. No wonder she and Miranda were able to kill Baroness Licht eight years ago."

They drove off now. "I wonder if this is what Clara wanted." Dom muttered, allowing himself a moment to be sad now that they were free from human hands. "Am I still making her proud by running away?" He shook his head, shelving his thoughts for now. Viola picked at her ear, sticking her finger in to try to make it hear again but it wasn't working. Hopefully it was just shock and it would wear off. It was nice to be able to hear things. Elise was in far worse shape considering she was unable to see now, her eyes covered in blood from her face. It was a little bit sad to be gone from Lorraine who had taken care of them. She saw the shape they were in after Luis was done with them and took them under her wing, caring for them like a mother would her children. And they were paying for her kindness with betrayal.

Another explosion, deafening and blinding as pain erupted all over her body. She could hear a voice, someone was speaking. Viola rubbed at her eyes to try to make sense of the blurry shapes. Fifi was standing there in uniform, holding a familiar demon in her hands. No - not a demon, but a soul piece. It was Krane's piece. Lorraine was crying as she held a baby - Sonata. What? Had Lorraine planned this from the start? "You all want to leave? You want to go out into the dangerous world out there? Don't you know you'll die, or worse? The Seylums will show you no mercy, Riven! And you kids, what were you thinking?"

Sonata. That was why Doll and Melody were bought by Lorraine, they couldn't risk the baby's life. "We can't fight anymore!" Dom yelled, coughing. Elise was desperately feeling the ground as soldiers in white stuffed her into the helicopter. "If you want to be free, you have to show me you're all strong enough." Lorraine was grim, wiping her eyes. "You'll have to convince me that you can survive." Violet felt herself being lifted up, carried into the helicopter. "If you all can break out and kill me, then you'll be free to go." Lorraine and Fifi joined the others in the helicopter. Guilt and apology was clear in Mel's eyes as she watched, while Doll merely glared, whether it was at Lorraine or at them, it was impossible to know.

"We're going to my old home. The Alliance won't follow us there. You'll all be locked up, of course. Mama will take care of all of you." She spoke with love in her voice. "Mama won't let you all go out into the dangerous world. You'll have to kill me first." The helicopter took off, it was too late now. "Don't worry. I already saved Oliver, he's waiting for you at home. We'll all be a family." She stroked Riven's pink hair gently. "Even you can be family, Riven. I love you just as much as I love everyone here." She wiped her tears , eyes dry now. "I won't let you all die out there."

This had been their only chance at getting away. Riven screamed in fury, attempting to lash out, but was quickly bound with silver. Her enraged screaming turned into coughing, spitting out snow and gravel in the process. They had almost made it, they had been so close. Victory was snatched out of their hands, just like that. "You crazy bitch!" Riven yelled as she was dragged towards the helicopter, attempting to lunge at the human, but a needle was stuck in her neck, Benadryl, her worst enemy. She slumped over, her thoughts becoming slow and placid. She was placed in the helicopter alongside the others, swaying as she was strapped in. Doll would not so much as look at them as the helicopter took off, her hands balling into fists. Sonata was handed back to her, the deal having come to pass. The vampire could not hold herself upright, she slumped to the side, her head landing in Lorraine's lap. She did not want to go, her heart screamed for them to be set free as her eyes closed, dizziness overcoming her.

She felt sick when she awoke, slow and cramped from having been curled up for so long. Where was she? The vampire attempted to sit up, the space dark. There were chains on her wrists and ankles, she felt weak from the weight of so much silver. Riven shivered, her clothing replaced with something akin to a gown. The lights blinked on with her movements, revealing what she had expected. Another cell. She wasn't surprised of course, only disappointed. She had been so close to freedom, but once more it had been ripped out of her grasp. No doubt they would order her execution this time, as Riven already made the humans nervous. They would blame this failed escape attempt on her. Perhaps it was for the best, perhaps she was meant to be a caged bird.

"Stupid Riven," the vampire looked up at the ceiling, shivering. Her entire body felt cold, perhaps with the realization that they would more than likely kill her soon. After all, Viola could not fight. Elise was more than likely blind, Jacob was still broken, and Dominic was well, the only Blood Pact in working order last she had seen him. They were not compatible, his blood tasted disgusting. With no one to reign her in, they would surely kill her. Rid themselves of the dirty vampire at last. Her mind flashed back to Fifi, holding Krane's soul piece. The demons had ratted him out; he deserved better. To be betrayed by humans was one thing, but to be betrayed by your own kind was another. Riven's shoulders shook as she began to sob, tears running down her cheeks.

This was no different then that time. Being controlled by a human, being kept alive on their terms. This was no different than being a servant. "I'm sorry King Seylum, I'm a failure." She would die by the hands of the humans, she would die without ever having accomplished anything. A waste of a vessel, she was not worthy of being called the Blood Stained Sword.

They were not back at the Vercingetorix Hall. They were somewhere else entirely. This was not anywhere she ever saw before. It was an empty, barren house, no - a mansion, it was a mansion. The Venatus Mansion, but that didn't make sense. Wasn't it burned down a long time ago? How were they here now? Vi had seen pictures but she had no idea that it had been rebuilt. When had this even happened? There was someone in the room with her, looking at her strangely. He looked familiar... then she finally understood. "Vi, it's been so long." Oliver reached out for her and pulled her into a hug. She smelled different, wrong, not like before. "It's true..." Vi's voice was hitched in her throat. "You really are a demon now."

Oliver used to be smaller than this. He wasn't supposed to be scarred and ruined, he wasn't supposed to have a tail and claws, he was human like the rest of them. They all died, so why did he - "I'm sorry. If we had known, we would have come to save you." Oliver shook his head, hugging her closer. "It's not your fault, Vi. You couldn't have known. And it's okay, because Lorraine saved me. I'm going to be okay, we all are." Lorraine? Her head hurt - why was she here? What was going on? "That's good." She smiled, feeling nauseous. She was getting a headache from only hearing things on one side of her head, it did not make her feel good at all. "Lorraine... she... oh, Riven..." No, this wasn't how it was supposed to be. They were supposed to be on their way to freedom, weren't they? This wasn't -

"She betrayed us, didn't she?" Oliver looked surprised. "But she told me she was always taking care of you guys?" He didn't know, to him, Lorraine was his savior from Luis's cruel experiments. She had a lot to explain to him but there really was no time. "Urrgh." Viola bit on her tongue, drawing blood, and kicked through the wall. Naturally the door was locked, but no one expected her to go for the wall. "Stay here, I have someone I need to find!" Heart thumping, she limped through the building. A large lonely home, the Venatus Mansion was not a happy place, nor was it's fate one a little girl should have to suffer through. Lorraine hardly spoke of her past to anyone.

She heard music. If her memories were correct, then - there was an indoor garden in the center of the building. Lorraine was there, drinking tea and playing music and talking to someone. What was - Elise? Lissie did not look okay, her eyes were all bandaged up and was she being force fed sweets? No, that was wrong! That was mean! That's not okay at all! "I-" No, she had to find Riven, she had to make sure Riven was't being hurt. Elise could come later. She bit her tongue again, activating her sense of smell. Riven was in the basement!

Viola rushed there as quickly as she could, panting. "Riven, are you okay? Are you hurt?" She was frantic as she reached the cell. "Why are you in a cell?" She shook her head, this wasn't the time. Vi pulled her leg back for a big kick - and then she felt horrendous pain as her foot collided with the metal bars as some sort of racking sound was heard. She fell onto her back, whimpering in both pain and humiliation.

She was stupid and naive, she should never have trusted the demons with her plan. This would never have happened if she had never told them. There was a crash, Riven wincing at the sudden loud noise. Viola had appeared, running down the stairs to the basement. It was just like the day they had met, when she had cut through the chains and freed Riven of her bondage. Only this time, when Viola attempted to break through the bars, she crashed horrendously to the ground. "You shouldn't do that," a voice came from the darkness. The lights flickered on, Fifi was standing there. How long had she been there? Riven wasn't sure, she hadn't been able to smell her. Had she been watching her cry? The thought was rather creepy.

"Riven is a traiter to humanity," Fifi attempted to help lift Viola to her feet. She was wearing Krane's soul piece as a necklace, which made Riven seethe with rage. She thrashed against the chains pinning her to the wall, Fifi taking a step back. "You're filth! You and that woman both!" Riven growled, straining against the chains. "Bad," Fifi sprayed her with a bottle of holy water through the bars. Riven hissed, baring her fangs. "We should have never taken that thing in. Lorraine was wrong, we can never be friends with vampires." Fifi grabbed Viola's hand, hauling her out of the basement and back up the stairs. The door slammed shut behind her and Riven slumped against the wall. This really was just like that time. She looked up at the ceiling, her heart hammering in her chest. They were going to kill her, weren't they? Or perhaps she would remain here until she was skin and bones.

~

"What do you mean she slipped out of your fingers?" Gavyn glared, Iflet scratching her arm and looking away, attempting to come up with an explanation. "We were prepared to assault them on the road," Iflet started, "they were leaving the city, but a bomb exploded and then they took them away." Gavyn set his lips in a scowl, "How is it that no one can do anything right around here?" He rose from his throne, Kaito scuttling out of his path. "It looks like I'm just going to have to retrieve her myself," Athena shook her head, she was standing in the doorway, Iflet's elite team sitting on one side of the stairs, Slaine standing on the other, wondering why he was summoned.

"I wouldn't do that," Athena ran a hand through her gloriously long hair. "Riven's been taken by Lorraine, that woman is bat shit crazy." Athena pushed off of the wall and strode down the aisle. "If you want to save Riven, you need to kill Lorraine." Gavyn nodded, "Alright, we'll kill her then. I'll be the one to rescue her, you lot can take care of the others," he gestured towards Iflet and her wild band of merry vampires. "I'll go as well," Athena decided. "Slaine, I leave the hotel in your care," the white haired dhampire nodded, stiffening upon hearing his name.

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

"You really are too thin. Come along, eat up." It was nice to have people in her home again. It was nice to have a family again. Lorraine missed being here in Scotland, missed living here. She had had her home rebuilt after the arson, once she joined the Hunter Federation she rose in the ranks pretty quickly and even began making a good living. Then she found children she cared for - gallant Dominic who tried so hard to be a big brother, pretty Elise who never eats enough, troubled Violet who turns everything into a joke, sweet Jacob who just wants to be a hero. "I know how much you love food, Elise." Elise couldn't see anymore, it was just so sad. "Don't worry, Mama's here. We're a family now, all of us."

"I don't want to." Elise growled, shaking, looking nauseous as she no doubt smelled the sweet pastries waiting for her at the tea table. "I'm full." She was chained to a chair because Elise really was far too thin. She needed to eat, it wasn't safe to be so small. "Eat. I'll be back, I have to check on the others now love." Lorraine stood up, happy. Ever since she was a little girl, her family was targeted due to being rich and living on good land and she lost her entire family. Now she finally had a family again. As the mama, it was her job to help them with all of their problems. She wheeled herself out, and entered into a room where, in the parlor, Dominic was locked in. He stared at her with something close to wonder and disgust. What was the problem? Lorraine had no idea, but she knew she would help him.

She pulled something out of her purse. It was a very precious item, you see. This photograph was a chain to tie Dominic down to the past and not allow him to accept this as his new family. "Clara is dead, Dominic." Lorraine said with a sad shake of the head. "I know. What's your point?" He spat at her feet, not bothering to try to break through the chains holding him down. Both physically and emotionally, he was trapped. "I will help you move on from your painful past. Here, one last look." She held the photo up to him and smiled, pulling a lighter out and lit the photo, reducing it to cinders.

Dominic let out a cry as he thrashed and struggled. "Here, her old toy. Do you remember Teddles, the Teddie Bear?" The old thing, it even still had a patch where its arm was ripped off by Jacob when he accidentally tore it trying to play with it. Dominic patched Teddles up and fixed him. "You need to get rid of all your attachments to the past." Lorraine said while Dominic cried and pleaded. "Then we can be a happy family." She burned Teddles, the bear toy full of memories nothing but a black smear on the ground.

Riven was tired, no that word wasn't suitable. She was exhausted, her very core feeling this sense of depletion that pulled her down. Perhaps she should just go back to sleep, sleep and wait for a better world, one where vampires and humans got along. Or perhaps she would sleep until her execution. That sounded nice, an endless abyss, where she was no longer chained down. Then she thought of Viola, of Dominic, Elise, and Jacob. They were up there; this would not only be her end, but their's as well. She tugged on the chains, hissing as they stung against her flesh. The silver would not be easy to break out of. She had no weapons, no knives, but she had purpose. So Riven tugged, she tugged, and tugged, and tugged. Until the skin broke, until the bone snapped, until her hands were gone. She rose, free of the chains at last, her blood dripping on the floor.

The vampire reattached her hands, her eyes glowing in the darkness. Or at least, that was how she wished it had gone. In truth, the more she tugged, the more she screamed. Her throat was raw, her blood dripping onto her lap. She needed no torture, as this was enough. No doubt Lorraine was well aware of that, she had seen where Riven was rescued from. "You should have just died in that snow bank, you shouldn't have screamed for help," then she wouldn't be here, in the same situation. "Worthless, you're worthless." The door crept open, Riven's head bolting upright as she tensed, preparing for whatever it was. "Man, this place is huge, no wonder no one saw us come in."

The scent was not familiar, neither was the voice. "Hang on," a flashlight turned on, Riven flinching at the sudden light. "Oh! It's the Princess!" A set of footsteps made their way down the marble stairs, the light turning on. "Move aside," Gavyn, she recognized him from the ball. What was he doing here? Why were there vampires in Lorraine's mansion? "I'm here to rescue you," he wrenched open the cage with his vampire strength, a sword dangling by his side. Riven didn't move though. "No," she turned away, crossing her arms. "No? If I heard correctly, a moment ago you were sobbing." A muscle above his eyebrow bulged. "I won't go with you, you're just going to enslave me too." He used his sword to cut through the chains. "I don't care whether you think I'm going to rescue you or not, you're coming with me." He threw Riven over his shoulder easily.

"Put me down! I'm not going with you!" She slammed her fists against his back. "Not without Viola!" Gavyn took pause, "Is that your only condition?" He asked, his voice oddly soft. "And the others, all of the hybrids. And Oliver and Krane's soul piece," he turned towards his compatriot. "You heard the Princess, go," the other vampire scurried off. "How did you find me?" She asked quietly as he walked up the stairs, not setting her down. His grip on her was tight, almost smothering. "I've been tracking you for a very long time Princess."

Re: Mirrored

If this is still active.

Yakumo from Psychic Detective

Re: Mirrored

No problem! For names I used behindthename.com and just clicked "random," until I saw something I liked.

Re: Mirrored

Okay, thank you for answering that for me! Just was trying to get an idea of the region before I started drawing up my character as it helps with naming and such. :)

Re: Mirrored

It's sort of a mix, the culture is medieval but the technology is futuristic. Every region is different though, I will leave it up to you guys to decide what you want Castiva to be like.

Re: Mirrored

I have two quick questions involving the region of Castiva and its people: So would there be any sort of specific culture that the people of the region would fall under and would it be a more of a medieval setting or would it differ?

Re: Mirrored

@ઽ૮૨α, yes thank you for joining!

Re: Mirrored

May I reserve the youngest son role?

His Fc will be Yato from Norigami

Re: Mirrored

Okay thanks for clarifying!

Re: Mirrored

@Angel_Eyes, all humans are from Earth. There is such a thing as a shell, or a person born without magic but they're usually killed by their families because it's shameful.

Re: Mirrored

Question: are all the humans from another world? Did they all fall through into this world at some point in the past? Or do they all originate from this world??

Re: Mirrored

@Seraphim, thank you for joining :D

Re: Mirrored

Hey there!

I'd like to see if I could reserve the Eldest Sister for this roleplay and if you'd allow it I would like my face claim to Kurisu Makise from Steins Gate though if you had something in mind for the character I am willing to change it.

Re: Mirrored

@Mei, yes thank you for joining!

Re: Mirrored

May I reserve The Youngest Daughter?

My FC would be Taiga Aisaka.

Re: Mirrored

@Angel_Eyes, thank you for joining, your spot has been reserved!

Re: Mirrored

I would be interested in reserving human one, the one that serves the youngest two :) I love the idea of falling into a world through a mirror :)

If you'd allow it, I would chose female as my characters gender and her face claim would be "Asako Natsume"

Image

Re: Mirrored

@Byte, yes you may! I will post details when I get the CS up, but for now I have to leave to school.

Re: Mirrored

Ignore Post

Re: Mirrored

May I reserve the Eldest Son?

Image

My face claim will be Shiroe from Log Horizon.

Anyway, a couple of questions. Is there a set age, or age range you'd like me to stick with? Might be important to know. =P

And... What about their primary magic? Can we just go with whatever? Are there any dos and don'ts?
