The cabin boy is typically a young boy of privileged birth who is sent to sea to learn the maritime trade. Typically the cabin boy waits upon the officers of the ship. In some instances he may act as the Captain's servant. The cabin boy will run messages and errands for the officers, prepare their uniforms, perhaps even fetch their dinners. Because he is an apprentice of sorts, he is also expected to learn all aspects of the maritime trade. The cabin boy works long hard hours. Jason is a pretty laid back kind of guy who does what he's told, when he's told and doesn't like to pick fights with those he works with. Don't get him wrong, he loves fighting, but not with the people he has to look at everyday of his life. He's been there and done that and now has scars from it. So he'll most likely avoid starting a fight with his crew mates as much as he can. Jason loves food, and is a pretty good cook if even the chance. He isn't the best and he knows that, but he can make some amazing cobbler dishes. Jason cares more about his friends then his own life, sometimes that can become a bad thing but it hasn't yet so he doesn't worry about it. At least he cares.
History:
Jason will always go where ever his twin sister, Jennova goes, doesn't matter where. Where-ever her heart lays he will follow her. It was his promise to his mother, that he would always be there for her and make sure she never got herself into anything she couldn't handle. You could call him her personal guardian angel. But the two have always been there for each other and don't plan on leaving each other unless they know that the other will be alright. Whenever Jennova falls in love he knows he'll have a hard time letting another man take his role. But he can't be with her all the time. He'll have to learn that one day.

Aaahh~! The grandest ship out there. It's sails as black as the night sky, it's body built so thin that it cuts through any waters. And the skies are so blue they are! How does Cap'n Ron ever sail such a ship on his own? Easy enough said, the ship is alive. The crew members are merely just items to pass his time. This ship will creak and the ship will weep, but it never talks or eats. An amazing ship it is, but cursed indeed. A ship and man so evil that hell itself spat them out and never ask for them to return. Cursed forever on the seas, lost in the waters. Some say it is to be said that once you see the ship, you yourself will be cursed.

That very ship now rest at the back docks of the Caribbean, sitting and waiting for the crew members to arrive, but what no one knows is that ship is the legendary Mis'Fortune. Each crew member was picked out personally but Cap'n Ron himself. Cap'n Ron himself even written each member to his crew a Deed to work on his ship until death. Any of them who cross him or try to run away, will be killed by his very own hands. Don't think for a second that just because he won't leave the ship, means he won't go out and kill you. No is to see these Deed's only the crew member giving it is allowed to see it. And if you were to show anyone other than yourself of what is read on it, that person will get the poison eyes. Poison sent to the eyes, making them black and painful. All part of the cursed Mis'Fortune, only the crew can know about it.

And now it waits, waiting for the crew to arrive.

His voice was familiar, but not of a person in this life time, someone from another world. Jennova couldn't quite figure it out, one thing she did know however, was that she was dreaming. How she knew this was simple, she was floating above water and a a man dressed like a pirate stood before her, arm out stretched reaching for her. What did this dream even mean to her? How would she know? This was the first time she had really had a dream in quite a long time... The man opened his mouth, his blonde hair covered one eye, and suddenly.... She knew who he was. The Pirate King...Or at least the made up one she had created as a child. She took a step towards him and reached for his hand, but as her hand fell into his - she heard her name and the image of him, and the clear water beneath them faded...

Jennova's eyes fluttered open for a second before she shut them again, only to rub her eyes. Outside her bedroom door her brother banged his fist repeatedly on the door. "Jenn! It's time to go!" He shouted over and over again until she finally reached over and shut the alarm next to her bed off. "I'll be out in second!" She told him with a sore throat as she took a deep breath, still trying to wake herself from the breath taking dream she had just woken up from. She looked on the floor where two bags stood next to each other, those were the bags that she'd be taking with her to the ship she was so lucky to be invited too. Well, as she liked to put it she was invited too.

Outside her door, Jason was ready to go, had his bags by the door, and was just finishing up some last minute cleaning before he would leave his rented home to another family to stay in. He walked back to the front door as he heard his sister getting out of her bed, he'd miss the famailar creek that they're house made everytime some one moved. It was only 5 minutes before Jenn was out with her bags on her shoulder. Jason shook his head at her outfit. A female pirate never dresses modest, but at least she didn't have a skirt one today. She was dressed in tight pants and a shirt that showed off her stomach and bare shoulders, something Jason was used to seeing on Jenn. He didn't really care all that much anymore.

"Well are you ready, or not?" Jennova asked him, gracefully walking past him, her heeled boots hit the ground with a loud 'thud' before swinging the front door open and making her way outside. They lived 50 seconds from the docks so it wasn't that big of a rush for her. Jason had his letter in his hands and smiled to himself as he saw Jennova's letter sticking out of one of her knee high boots. He'd miss this place, but his sister's heart belonged out at sea, and he followed her everywhere she went.

Jennova yawned as she saw three men on the ship before her, she made her way up the beautiful ship and smiled at them. "Didn't expect a women to be apart of yer crew did yew?" She said with a fake accent as her brother just shrugged and held his bags as he stepped aside and out of the way. He wasn't much of a people person, so he kept his mouth shut and let his sister do all the talking.

(Gladis isn't here so I will just start! Please do excuse her absence! I will have her just wing it. Also let's just say for now that she is here with you waiting at the docks.)

He shifted his body in his slept in the Crow's Nest, he always found it relaxing up there. It's the part of the ship where the Lookout stays during his times on the ship with a telescope. The guys you see at the very top of the all the sails. What woke him were the voices he heard down below. He saw that his crew had finally arrived. With a smirk rested on his lips he got up and rose to his feet, leaning over the Crow's Nest, he yelled in a cheered tone.

"Ahoy there mateys!" Cap'n Ron waved his hat hanging far over, any man would think he'd fall and kill himself. But Cap'n Ron never feared death, falling, wounds anything like that. His cheerfulness waved across the Ship, sea and docks. Cap'n Ron looked extremely young in age. He didn't look a day over his 20's or early teens.

Ron's hand 'Slipped' and he started to fall over the Crow's Nest. His grin never left his face as he started to fall down and past the sails.

Despite the clarity of the day and the rather pleasant weather all-around, the ship seemed to dominate the entirety of the back docks, black sails blotting out the clear blue skies. No ship, Mortimer reasoned, had any right to be as ominous as this one, the creaking of wooden boards as the vessel swayed in the ocean current overwhelming the sound of gulls and the gentle lapping of waves against the docks. Which is why, when the boardwalk suddenly fell against against the dock with a resounding crash, Mortimer nearly jumped out of his skin, clutching his bags even closer to his person, especially when, despite everything, no one appeared on board, the ship's deck just as empty as it had been before.

"Mon dieu," He breathed, resisting the urge to cross himself purely out of habit. That was when others became to arrive. These people, he noted as they passed by, were pirates. Not just pirates, but pirates. The first to arrive had a swagger in his step and a tongue as sharp as the blade he carried, the threat easily rolling off of his tongue. If the rather specific threat concerning 'his' kitchen meant anything, this man was just the cook, and if the cook was this volatile, well, Mortimer was dreading the reveal of the rest of the crew. The next to arrive was a pair, the woman dressed in such a way that he was sure would make his mother back home have a conniption and make Renee green with envy. As for Mortimer, he averted his eyes because despite how many years he'd been away from France, women exposing themselves like that still managed to surprise him.

"Didn't expect a women to be apart of yer crew did yew?" Her words sounded smug to Mortimer's ears, as she traipsed onto the ship, the boy following behind with only a shrug. In actuality, he didn't care if there was a woman on board or not because she wasn't a lady- she was a pirate and he'd learned from experience that there was a monumental difference.

Thought others began to arrive and boarded the ship without even a split second of misgiving, Mortimer hesitated near the gangplank, unwilling to take that final step that might indeed seal his fate. These people- they craved the life of a pirate, would probably be thrilled to be a part of the Mis 'fortune's legacy if this was indeed that ship. As for the Frenchman, well, he wasn't quite sure if he even had a choice in the matter and-

The figure falling from the crow's nest dragged him forcefully from his thoughts, wide eyes now intent on the child- well, young man- plummeting to the ship below. A noise of surprise was caught in his throat and he only watched the scene unfold from the docks.

Jennova & Jason
Jennova smiled to herself as she turned her head to the side to glance at her brother, obviously knowing something that everyone else didn't. Because the so called 'kid' that everyone else clearing sees she was seeing something far different. Maybe she was insane, but she knew there was something about him that she would just have to take her chances. As she turned her head back to the so called kid she took a step up and nodded her head at him. "Jennova Blood, Boatswain."
Behind her Jason stepped beside her, in defense mode. "Jason Blood, not sure what I'm good for."
Jennova laughed and looked at Jason. "You can cook!"
"I can bake....there is a fair difference" Jason said claimly, and then smiled.
Jennova turned back to the captain. "Okay he's the cabin boy then." Jennova smiled and then looked around her and focused all her attention on a new person. (Loct). "Well hello handsome."
"Jenn.." Jason muttered shaking his head, he shut himself up and went to stand behind everyone else. He looked around and frowned at the number of people here. Smaller group meant he'd have every few people to choose to be friends or foes with. Jason wasn't exactly a people person, and had a hard time making friends as it is. He was his sisters friend and that was it. Well he wasn't exactly friend material. Though he knew he had bigger fish to fry. He looked next to him where another women stood.(Meli) "Nice to know there's not only one woman on board." He told her with a smile.
(Edit, Don't know why this part didn't show up)
Jennova had a feeling the guy she had just talked too didn't like women, much less ones that were pirates, because she knew there was a fair difference between a man as a pirate and a woman, at least most crews she was apart of had treated her different. So she clenched her jaw at the memory and stepped back and away from the man, finding her brother and folding her hands over her chest as stood beside him, further away from everyone else.

Ron saw Loct look up to see Ron fall in his direction. "What the He-" Out of panic Loct started to run but turned back. Ron twisted and turned landing on his feet with a loud thud, grinning happily as he landed.. "You know, I think this is why Kids shouldn't be on ships anymore. Are you hurt anywhere?" Loct searched the Robs body with his eyes.. "You're lucky, those thin legs didn't snap into pieces." Loct squinted his eyes to look Ron in his eyes. "Who are you, are you part of the crew too?" Loct looked over Ron again.

"HO HO HO" Ron laughed and walked past Loct. "Come with me and let me explain myself." Ron pushed Loct in front of him and off the ship onto the boardwalk along with whoever else was on the ship. Ron never got off the ship though and stood at the entrance of the boardwalk."Good morning everyone. And welcome to my hear ship. As some of you may think or believe who I already am. I'd like to say that it is true. If you do not believe me, then leave." He said it like a 'I dare you to leave' warning kind of voice. And like that his smile was gone and his childish face went dark and a bit like a mans. And just as quick he smiled again. "Now those of you who is staying. Get on the ship fast! Come on look alive." He snapped at them and moved out of the way. Watching them pass by one at a time.

Jennova & Jason

Jason didn't like being led off the ship just to be told to get back on so he folded his arms over his chest and stormed back onto the ship, making room for others to get on the ship as well by standing further away then where he was in the first place. He eye'd everyone. There was one person he knew for certain he wouldn't like and that was the man who looked stiff like he had a lot on his mind. Jason was very judgemental, anyone could tell you that, but did he care what anyone else thought? Of course not! He took a deep breath, his arms folded over his chest as his eyes fell on another person, he wasn't quite sure if it was a woman or a man, He has come across some manly women and some pretty men in his time, but he couldn't quite put his finger on which gender this person was. He shook his head and looked at the next person, his sister.. She had her eyes locked on the ground, biting the dry skin on her bottom lip. It was her thinking face, something was up. But what? When they had first come on the ship she wasn't surprised that this captain fellow had jumped from such heights or the fact that he was so young. Then again he and his sister were pretty young themselves. He looked around, finally deciding there were six men not including himself and three women. More men then women was always the best idea. But in his point of view, a crew always needed a women's touch. He smiled to himself as he thought of the time he was apart of a crew and was the only man around. Besides the manly woman.. That was the time when his sister changed her name to Jennova.. It was so similar to her birth-name, Jennora.. But he never had to change his name. Nobody recognized him without his blue hair, he liked brown hair, natural colors.

Jennova flicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth as she thought of something, she didn't understand. It was something more personal then anything, usually she was the one always talking, always flirting. Flashing a smile to this young man to that one, but there was something her mother had said once about where those legends really came from. She just couldn't quite figure out where. So of course she believed this young man was the legend from the stories she read as a child. But there was something about the curse. She was mentally beating herself up for not knowing what it was. Something caught her by surprise, out of the corner of her eye something shining on the docks. It was a necklace, she picked it up on her way back to the ship and ran it over in her hands, it was a locket, in the shape of a heart, like something a mother would give a child. She loved it, secretly of course. As she walked up back to the ship she thought of where the necklace could have come from.

Anita listened as Ron made his introduction to the crew. It would appear this reckless, well-dressed young man was the captain. He was not what Anita had expected the infamous Captain Ron Hingsty to look like, but she knew from a lifetime of observation that looks could be deceiving. The darkness in his tone when he dared anyone who doubted his identity to leave made it clear that in all actuality leaving was not an option. She did not have to be told twice to follow orders. She slung her fiddle case over her shoulder and quickly boarded the ship. She went to stand by the railing, not quite sure what to do for the moment. She watched as the others boarded the ship, and waited to receive any orders, or to play a song of departure if one was called for.

Jennova & Jason

Jennova smiled at the newcomer and looked across at her brother, who was shaking his head. She frowned, deciding not to go all out and give him her royal welcome. "I'm Jennova, Boatswain." Was all she said, giving her brother a nod as he smile. She could punch him if he was just a bit closer.
Jason smiled. "Im just a Cabin boy.." He muttered, remembering that he was nobody special. "Jason, if you cared at all" He might as well git his role.

(Sorry I fell asleep!)
Jennova & Jason
Jennova smiled at what Roland had said, so she went to stand next to him and pointed to the captain. "The kid's the Cap'n" She said. "The legends are true, you don't believe them, you can leave." She decided to shorten what was said to her. She still knew the cook would be her favorite person, mainly because he can cook.
"Well I can fix my own guns so I won't yell at you." Jason smiled, taking so long to think of an answer, Jennova didn't even realize he was still there by how silent he was.
"Oh your still here? Thought you weren't a believer." She teased him, and laughed when the death glare came on his face.
He clenched his jaw for a moment and then smiled at her, "Well you are, as you call a believer, and you have never been wrong before."

The beginning of the journey found Mortimer exactly where he wanted to be; stationed at the helm with his two bags piled together beside him. Of course he could have tucked them away in the crew's sleeping quarters down below, but he trusted his new crew-mates as far as he could throw them which, he reasoned, was not at all. This, though, the feeling of the wooden wheel beneath his calloused hands, the distinct scent of salty air brought on by a steady breeze, this was familiar, almost comforting if he forgot where exactly he was and the ominous feeling lingering over every plank and every board of the ship.

In the end, he'd reluctantly made his way up the gangplank, following behind the real pirates at the beckoning of their apparent captain. He was just a boy, really, dressed to the nines in an elaborate costume, and going by the name of the demonic pirate captain that haunted the dreams of all who heard his legend. Logically, Mortimer should have been convinced that this was all a sham, a boy from a wealthy family running off to play pirate, taking up the name of Ron Hingsty to boost his own credentials. Then again, logically deeds don't force innkeepers to claw at their eyes and people who fall off crows nests don't make it and certainly don't land on their feet with nary a break or sprain to show from it. Still, in the end, it wasn't as if Mortimer had a choice. It was starve to death as a homeless scoundrel at the port, perhaps lingering a few years on whatever he managed to scrape together, or join a ship that was either headed by the most infamous pirate of all times or a spoilt boy who would hopefully keep them alive. That, in the end, was the driving force for him to climb onto the ship with the others. This wasn't what he wanted, but it was a necessity.

The Frenchman hadn't participated in the getting to know you conversation, instead finding his way to the helm and prepared to set sail as other bustled about, either going about their duties or familiarizing themselves with their new home. This part would be easy, brilliant navigator or not. He knew from stories and his own experiences the waters surrounding the port like the back of his hand, every hidden rock avoided without a second glance, the boat carried by both the wind and a current pulling them out to sea. The gulls were calling overhead, their tune adding to the soft background noise of the sloshing waves and the natural noises of a ship sailing out to sea.

Then, the strains of some melody he'd never heard before began, the fiddle music intertwining with the natural melody of the ocean in such a way that Mortimer was reminded why musicians were so well-liked on ships. His boot-clad foot tapped to the tempo, a little tick of his developed after hearing performances both in grand halls and in private recitals while growing up in France. Mortimer spun the wheel idly with one hand, the other pulling his compass out of his shirt to allow it to guide him until the port was far behind them and they were officially out at sea, surrounded by blue ocean waters. He hadn't gotten his orders yet, no destination to speak of, but away seemed like a very good idea indeed.

These rare moments where Jennova found herself all alone happened to be some of the best moments that she could have. She ran her fingers over the wood around the deck, slowly walking around the entire ship, until she found herself next to a man by the wheel. She hadn't even realized that she was in his personal bubble until she felt something fleshly under her fingers, not wooden at all. She quickly took her head back, as if she had just touched fire. "I'm sorry" She told him (Mortimer) and held her hand to her chest as she stared at the wheel intensely. She was looking for a fault of some kind. Why would the Cap'n have a need for her if there was nothing for her to do? She frowned to herself, not seeing any fault at all. There was no use for her here, at least as she saw there was not one. She sighed to herself as she turned from the wheel and looked down, finally finding a fault! In the floor, there was a large scrap, like someone had moved something rather heavy across it. She felt a small smile spread across her face as she started to put her hair into pigtails, a sign that meant she was working or about too.

Being a cabin boy was something new to Jason, so he'd decided to stay in the Cabin, he sat on what he assumed was his bed and stared at out the one window he found so far. He closed his eyes for a second, to listen to everything around him, strange enough it was quiet. Nothing but soft music from above played, and a few footsteps here and there. He ran a hand through his hair as his eyes opened and yawned to himself, not noticing if anyone else was in the room with him or not. What good was he to a bunch of pirates? He didn't consider cabin boy to really be a pirate. He was too afraid to go ask the cook for help because he had heard someone say that the cook would kill anyone who stepped into his kitchen without permission. So until anyone called for him, he'd stay in the cabins

The tempo was changing, but Mortimer paid it no mind, foot still tapping, unconsciously changing to match the beat. It was just background noise now as he kept his eyes ahead him on the blue ocean waters, occasionally glancing at the compass tied around his neck if only to avoid more populated shipping routes. He didn't particularly want to tempt fate and risk running across a naval vessel or any other ship that thirsted for pirate blood. The crew of the supposed Mis 'fortune they may be, but he hardly thought that they'd fare well as a crew given that they'd only known each other for upwards of one hour or so.

He was so enraptured by his duties that he didn't notice the fiddle music trail off at first until a voice broke into the soundtrack of the sea. It was the fiddle player, one of the women who'd somehow gained or been cursed with(he wasn't actually sure which it was at this point in their voyage) a position in this mysterious crew.

"No, not a stranger to music," He agreed, glancing at her but not turning fully to face the fiddler. "You certainly know how to play." The compliment was curt but honest if only because he'd been surrounded by so many talentless musicians while at port and someone with the ability to pull a decent melody from their instrument was a welcome surprise. However, the musician was distracted by their sour-faced doctor and Mortimer returned his full attention to the helm. That is, until a shrill shriek rang out on deck. He let go of the wheel just in time to see the captain's sword pull across the first woman's throat, the one who'd sashayed onto the boat with flirtations already falling from her lips, the blood spraying like a fountain, coating both the captain's face and the deck beneath them. Mortimer froze, eyes wide in horror as her body fell to the planks beneath her feet, wound still oozing between the cracks, spreading slowly and painting the wood of the deck. Then, as if giving an encore to his performance, the captain broke the girl's companion's neck with a simple twist of his hands, the sickening crunch making him involuntarily gag. He'd seen death before in many forms, but never like this.

Any doubt that had been in Mortimer's mind of who this boy really was was instantly dissolved in those few moments. No simple teenager could accomplish that, would even think to do so without a valid reason. No, that level of carnage, of bloodlust, the lack of regard for human life added with everything that had happened since he'd received that damned deed the day before exposed the truth. This was no mere boy; this was Captain Ron Hingsty, the demonic pirate of legends, and now- now Mortimer was part of his Hellish crew.

He felt ill at the revelation combined with the senseless carnage he'd just been forced to witness, the two bodies still on the deck where they'd fallen, the blood from the girl still flowing even in her death, but now only at a trickle. The worst part was the reaction of the crew or lack there of. Some watched on in a mild sort of shock, but continued about their duties afterwards without so much as a gasp or a stare of horror. Their illustrious Captain had chosen his crew well if this was their only reaction to the two brutal murders of crew members in quick succession.

"Putain de merde," He groaned and only just refrained from crossing himself as none other than Captain Ron Hingsty retreated back to his rooms as if nothing had happened at all. He took a deep breath, composing himself and schooling his expression before turning back to the wheel. There was nothing he could do now except carry out his duties or risk being the next victim of the Mis 'fortune.

So, naturally, when he felt a finger tapping at his shoulder, he gave a little jump, whirling around and half expecting the disturbing smile of their Captain and a sword to the throat. But, no, the face was much more pleasant to look at in that the person did not look like they were about to murder him. He couldn't quite tell if they were a girl dressing like a boy or a particularly feminine young man, but decided that he didn't really care at this point.

"You would be correct... Ezra," He said with a nod, stepping away from the wheel to allow the pilot to their position. At least that was one less thing for him to do. "Call me Mortimer." It wasn't because he particularly liked the pilot as of yet, but more of a dislike for his last name. Lachance, he decided rather bitterly as he began fishing through his overstuffed bags, thumbing quickly through maps upon maps and books upon books stuffed inside, barely glancing at each one, was much too ironic of a name given his current circumstances. The Southern hemisphere was vague enough, but he was prepared- how the Captain had known this, he didn't even dare guess. It was better to not know. He tugged out three maps, all slightly different but intricately detailed just as the pilot called for the doctor to assist their Captain. Huh. So even a monster like Ron Hingsty occasionally needed medical assistance. Who would have thought?

"Here we are," He said out loud for Ezra's benefit, unrolling the maps and holding up his compass for a glance. "Turn hard a-starboard, then we can continue to go towards the South until further instructions, yes?"
