Appearance: Chael stands at 5’4” and has a petite and slender body. She has straight, jet-black hair that reaches the small of her back and bangs with shorter strands of hair framing her heart-shaped face. She has a rather pale complexion that’s slightly tanned now due to swimming. Her eyes are a gentle red-orange with thick, long eyelashes. Because she’s an anima, she has a scar on her right foot.

Personality: Chael is kind, polite, generous, helpful, and shy. She has trouble trusting people sometimes and is very suspicious of others who are not animas. When meeting someone for the first time, she’s very shy and timid and won’t talk much (unless she's confident that your an anima or won't hurt her). But once she gets used to your presence, she’ll be more outspoken and friendly. She cares for her friends and acquaintances and worries more about others than herself. She’s not the weak little girl she was anymore who was pushed around so she likes to be of great help and offering protection to the injured, ill, or young in any way she can.
History: Chaerin was born into a wealthy, high-class family. Before Chaerin’s father, Robin, had married or met his wife, he had a one-night stand with someone. The girl was unknown but he didn’t care seeing as he wasn’t going to meet up or see her again. Little did he know, that woman was carrying his first heir. About three years later, Robin had finally married (it was arranged) and everyone in the family was elated to know that a baby boy was due in a few months or so. But one night, the doorbell had rung and when one of the maids opened the door, all they saw was a sleeping three year old girl with a letter. It was soon revealed that the first heir had actually been a girl whom was the daughter of a prostitute. She was shunned but was given the things she needed since she was still blood-related to them.
When her half brother, Christof, was born, the spotlight was on him every time. Though Chaerin was neglected, she didn’t mind; she didn’t like attention anyways. Nonetheless, they still lived with her and would always give her a dirty look. The one who disliked her most was her grandmother. She was utterly ashamed of the sin her son had done.
One evening, a six year old Charein couldn’t sleep so she went out to the backyard and sat by the pond. She loved watching the fish swim and she was especially mesmerized by the Koi and Goldfish although she favoured the Goldfish’s tail more. Leaning close to the edge, she felt someone’s hand on her back and was pushed in the water. She was quite short for her so the pond felt much deeper than what it really was. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how to swim and as she struggled, she swallowed more and more water, making her even more tired. Before she couldn’t move her limbs anymore, Chaerin saw a goldfish and thought, I wish I was a fish and able swim. Then I could live to see another day. The Goldfish had heard her and a warm light engulfed her body. She suddenly had a tail and was able to get back up to the surface. No one ever knew about that incident and she never found out who had tried to kill her.
Chaerin knew that she had a gift and that she was different from her family so when she was ten, she ran away from them. She was content being alone and independent rather than having people around her all the time who didn’t even care about her existence. She also knew that they would just carry on life as if she weren't even born. She was right: no one bothered looking for her.
Other: Though Chaerin is her real name, she prefers being called Chael. Being acquainted to water, she comes in very handy when it comes to healing (and looking for certain herbs).
