Name: Nathan Summers

Role: Junior highschooler, in homeroom.

Common Knowledge: Nathan doesn't do friends. He's an even bigger loner than Amy, and is hostile towards anyone who tries to talk to him. As such, people barely know anything about him, other than his abnormal speech patterns and that he lives with an old woman they assume is his grandmother, and her cats.

So begins...

Kayin did not simply enter a classroom. He had to make an entrance.

So when he strode into homeroom he had a ukulele in his hands, strumming the strings gently. His eyes were concealed behind thick sunglasses. His hair had been dyed white that summer, and almost matched his pallid skin. He was dressed mostly in blacks, which was a bit offsetting for the boy's personality. He walked right past the front row, pausing in his ukulele to run his hand over Hiro's hair for no other reason than to bother him, took a glance at Luca and his pal, and sailed right to the back of the class, beside the silent and very intreaguing Nathan Summers. It was from there he kept strumming the instrument, a pleasant and dreamy grin on his face.

Not seconds after staring ahead of him did his hand whip out to the side, grabbing onto the leg of Nathan's chair, dragging it with a high-pitched squeal closer to him. He leaned over towards his classmate and whispered, "Hi."

When Kayin made his ukulele-playing entrance, the majority of the room looked up at him. Then, after realising that it was Kayin, more than half of them just looked away again, possibly with an amused remark about 'Classic Kayin'. Nathan was not one of the people who had looked up. Instead, he only raised his eyes when the other boy had moved over to where he was sitting.

"No." he stated simply as the fair-haired boy stood there for a moment, narrowing his eyes. Kayin was not deterred, and when he took a seat, Nathan scowled. "Why are-"

He cut off when Kayin grabbed his chair and he felt himself being pulled across the floor. He stumbled on his words, losing his hostile and cold composure. "Wh ... what are you doing?" he spat out, blinking. By now, they were being stared at. Or at the very least, Kayin was.

Most of the eyes said the same thing. Why's he sitting there? With the weird kid?

Nathan regained some of his wits, enough to try and shuffle his chair back away. "If you're looking for a cheap laugh, you can fuck off." he muttered.

"A cheap laugh? If there's any laughs to be had, dear Nathan, it's not on you," chuckled Kayin, stretching one arm behind Nathan's chair to centimeter his chair as close to his own as possible.

"I need someone to give my daily play-by-plays to, and you're the lucky number. See, you've picked the best spot to give a hefty observance to every person in this room. And I dunno, man. We just resonate. Can't you feel it? I can feel it."

He grinned mischievously as he gazed at the room, studied, learned, and questioned. "I don't think I'm the only one who's taken notice of that Drake kid who seems really shady now. Like, what happened. Startling revelation over summer? Dark deeds changed his outlook? Maybe something more tragic gave him reason to look like another badly dressed goth kid. He can't even wear the color right. Scrub."

He switched his eyes to Jared. "And there's him. Like. How many years have we been in homeroom with him and we haven't even spoken really. Sleeping in class. I see much trouble in his future. But he's kinda boring. Let's switch to the two blazin' babes over in the corner, yeah? Oh! And it's Shug the Slug goin' in for the kill... makin' a pass... boom." Kayin raised his hands and spread out his fingers, his lips pursed as he pushed out air through his teeth.

"And he's goin' nowhere."

Nathan gave Kayin a look of confusion as the boy continued to shuffle closer, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. "Don't know why you've suddenly decided to start talking to me, but whatever." he muttered, folding his arms and shrinking down into his seat. "And don't care about all the meaningless goings on of everyone else. It's all pointless anyway. Looks and drama and sad excuses for relationships."

Clearly, Nathan was a veritable ray of sunshine.

Just a few moments later, the rest of the class started to file in, surrounding - of course - Cynthia Ward. The blonde-haired girl walked with the confidence of someone who knew they were important, knew that people hung on their every word, and knew that they were untouchable.

Around her, the trio of 'drones' as people called them - Katy, Lana and Marissa - walked like a human shield, separating Cynthia from the masses. As well as them, Andy Lawson and Dave Spinelli walked with their respective girlfriends, though Andy seemed more to be trailing after Cynthia than alongside her. Katy was latched onto Dave's arm like a limpet. Finally, Mei - the one girl of the group who seemed to actually have a mind of her own - picked up the rear, laughing about something with Lana.

The group seated themselves in the center of the room, at the tables that had been left unoccupied for them. Cynthia's eyes scanned the room briefly before she sat, finding Wade's. She met his slippery gaze with her lips pursed with distaste, and nodded her head to him. That was all, and then she sat.

The room continued on in a hubbub of post-summer catching up, before the door swung open once more. The noise quieted down, as the class was expecting their teacher, and then quietened even further then they noticed who it was.

Quietly and without so much as meeting anyone's eyes, Jamie Winters crossed to the empty table at the back of the room and took a seat. She was pale and fragile-looking, but otherwise unchanged from the end of the last year. Of course, everyone had heard the rumours that she had committed suicide over the break. There had been police questioning and everything! And yet, here she was, walking into homeroom as though nothing was wrong.

Lily broke off from her conversation with Alacyn to make her way over - she and Jamie were close friends - and sat beside her. The two began to speak in hushed voices.

It didn't take long for the rest of the room to crescendo again, as people excitedly discussed what had happened.

Amy nudged Jerrard. "Does the walking supposedly-dead count as interesting?" she remarked with a smirk, nodding her head towards Jamie.

At the front of the room, Annie stared after Jamie. "Some people," she muttered finally, rounding back to face the front and Rhapsody. "I bet she started that rumour about suicide just for attention."

Kayin traced his lower lip with his thumb and lowered his lids suspiciously. With two fingers, he rapped Nathan on the head. "Hey, you seein' what I'm seein'? I know rumors can get far fetched, but don't you think it's a little strange to pass around that somebody died when they didn't?" he asked, leaning in close with a whisper. He held his chin between his thumb and index. "Very strange..."

With a scruumph of his chair, Kayin pushed back from his desk, then walked over to the other side of the classroom. Without a word, he reached around and put his arms around Rhapsody's shoulders, then gently leaned her chair back as he crouched down to whisper in her ear.

"Hey, princess. Tell me, what did you hear about our main act, over there, Jamie? Anything funny happen to her over the summer?"
