Personality:
Declan is a rather complicated individual. He generally keeps to himself and seems like the shy and sweet type despite is grown popularity over being the star quarterback. He's not much for partying or alcohol and really only attends them because it's expected of him. He plays off the part of being the golden boy rather well with his amazing grades, adorable smile, and general kindness to most people. He seems different from most jocks until you meet the darkness within him...

Declan is a talented liar and manipulator. He plays off the sweet innocent boy so well along with charming women left and right for the sake of keeping his secret well hidden but he is also extremely destructive and has a short temper especially when his sexuality is questioned. He's been in many fights and hurt a few former lovers but he's so talented at being fake that people haven't even noticed just how vile he really is.

History:
It's always been just Declan and his father. Always. His mother died giving birth to Declan leaving him with his father for the rest of his life. They lived just outside of this small little town in a small home on a huge plot of land just for them to go hunting, camping, and fishing every weekend. On the weekdays, Declan would go to school and then straight to football practice just like his dad wanted. Declan always did whatever his dad wanted. Always.

Now growing up in such a small town meant that everyone knew just about everything about anyone. Well, close to everything. Some people still had their secrets. But everyone in town knew that Declan's father became a bit of a mess after his mother died. It was no surprise to anyone that he was often seen drunk and prone to abuse. He'd even show up to his son's football games cheering him on with a beer in hand and tripping over the bleachers like an embarrassment but Declan always seemed to be okay. He'd take his father home and clean him up to start the process all over the next day. He seemed like a normal good kid. Seemed like.

Declan plays the part of the golden boy so well. He's popular in school as the star quarterback. Doesn't really drink or do drugs and has great grades. He's what parents push their kids to be like. Declan even has a full ride scholarship to a prestigious private school but there's only one problem... Declan's secret.

Declan always knew he didn't care much for women. They didn't intrigue him the way that men did but he also knew he could never come out. His father was too close minded and would probably do something horrible and the school he had a scholarship for was way too conservative and he couldn't give that up. That's his one shot at becoming a professional. So Declan did what he had to... He kept it a secret. He had a few mystery boys that he stole a few kisses from but he also many girls in order to keep the secret hidden. The only problem was that all this lying was making him violent and prone to outbursts whenever his sexuality was questioned. Then came the day his father found out...

There was one boy that particularly sparked Declan's interest and they met in secret a few times. One night Declan was dumb enough to bring him back to the house thinking his dad would still be at the bar. That of course went horribly when his father stumbled in and caught the two in the act. He threw the boy out of the house and then dragged Declan to his room for a beating of a lifetime saying that he'd need to fix this or he could kiss his dreams goodbye. Declan called the boy later that night and arranged for them to meet out where they first kissed in the woods. Declan met him there and then began to beat the boy with a bat telling him he couldn't tell anyone about them. He just kept going like something inside him finally snapped and once he was done... Declan simply left him there and drove back to his house.

And now we're here.

Declan woke up to the sound of his alarm blaring through his phone on the floor forcing Declan to get up and find it to be able to turn it off. He sighed in relief once it was over. He then proceeded through his morning routine of making his bed and making sure everything in his room was in it's place before stepping into the shower and getting himself ready for the day. Once Declan was out of his steaming hot shower, he towel dried his hair and simply rand his hands through it a few times with some product so it wouldn't be too much of a mess before brushing his teeth and getting his clothes on for the day.

Declan stepped out and was greeted by the innards of a house the exact opposite of his room. Empty beer bottles and cans laid spread across the floor. Cigarette buds laid n the floor near the overflowing ash tray next to the spit jug for dipping. Dirty dishes filled the sink and counter top while lat night's take out was all over the coffee table. Next to the coffee table was a large man passed out with a half downed beer bottle still in his hand. Declan shook his head and went to the kitchen like he did every morning to make breakfast. He cleaned some of the dishes for room and then began making biscuits and gravy for his father and several boiled eggs with bacon for himself. He then made Irish coffee for his father and a protein shake for himself.

Once he was done fixing up breakfast, Declan cleared the coffee table and put all the food that went bad over night in the trash before taking it outside. He came back in and went over to the couch with his father's tray of food before waking him up. His father woke up slowly and hungover before running to the bathroom to puke and coming back to scarf down all the food while Declan sat quietly eating his breakfast in another chair. Declan was first to finish his food and just as quickly cleaned his plate trying to get out as fast as possible but his father stopped him.

"Boy, get your ass over here." Declan's eyes fell to the floor as he spun around on his heels to face his father who had just gotten up and was making his way over to him. His father stood before him and and Declan looked up to make eye contact. "Now you listen to me, boy. I don't want you bringing none of your faggy lil friends here anymore. You understand?" Declan sighed and responded. "I know-" A large hand was quick to grab Declan around the throat and push him up against the wall. "Don't you fucking talk me in that tone of voice, boy." He glared at him and used his free hand to strike Declan hard across the face. "Now if you decide to ruin that lil scholarship of yours by deciding to be some homo, you'll get a lot worse than that. Do you understand?" Declan nodded. "Good." His father shoved him to the ground and he scrambled to get back up. "Now get out of my sight."

Declan practically bolted out the door and to his truck fearful of staying to long and getting that beating his father would surely give him. He left the house and began driving towards the cafe. He wasn't really hungry but he was in the mood for a cup of coffee. Plus he knew the other football players would show up there so Declan was expected to make an appearance. He pulled into the parking lot and inspected the damage on his face before going in. His left cheek was beginning to form a bruise which wasn't too bad. The last time Declan's father struck him with a beer bottle and he had to get stitches.

Declan hoped out of his pickup before walking towards the cafe with his hands tucked away in his Letterman jacket pockets. He took one out to open the door before tucking it back in and walking through the little coffee shop. He gave warm enough smiles to those that made eye contact with him before waiting in line to order his cup of coffee.

Ellie lay on the cold bathroom floor staring up at her ceiling. The room was spinning slightly as she felt faint and weak. She could hear her parents downstairs discussing the matter, their voices echoed through the vents. "Do you think she's covering something up?" she heard her mother say and a long pause followed. One of the gentlemen cleared his throat by the sounds of it and replied "Ma'am, there's just a hole in her story...I know it was just the two girls venturing so maybe Ellie is telling the truth, but we've inspected that bridge hundreds of times, those wooden boards shouldn't have collapsed." Ellie's heart began to race feverishly whilst skipping a beat here or there, she could feel sweat roll down from her forehead. "We'll keep investigating quietly and with your permission we'll have eyes watching Ellie, something doesn't seem right." A moment or two of silence passed and Ellie hadn't notice she was holding her breath until she let out a huge huff. She sat up slowly and glanced around, she began wiping tears from her cheek and took small breaths to calm herself.

At that moment Ellie's phone chimed announcing a new message. She reached inside her dress pocket and pulled it out, it was from Sam.
To: Samarama
Hey! Yes, let's meet please, need to escape my house. Meet you at the lake in the park?

On that note she shuffled to her feet and made her way over to the bathroom window. She slid it open and sung her leg over the edge and began to climb down the wall using a vine support that went from the lawn to the roof. Once she reached the bottom she tiptoed across the lawn and jumped into her convertible and sped off.

When Ellie arrived at the park she made her way over to the lake and sat down on the freshly cut grass. She loved the scenery here, the lake in it's cool blue was filled with roaming ducks, trees surrounded it and flowers grew in all sorts of places. She took a breath and began twirling her thumbs trying to avoid thinking about her recent interrogation.

Tyler took a couple strides ahead of Isabella and opened the door for her, walking in after. He shoved his hands in his pockets awkwardly, he didn't like being in public, people always stared and whispered and being high didn't help his paranoia. He walked over to the counter and ordered a cookie and tea for Isabella and an espresso for himself.

He went over near a window and sat down at a cozy table. He didn't feel like talking all of the sudden, being here made him slightly uncomfortable today. When their order was announced Tyler rushed over to claim it. He placed the cup of tea in front of Isabella and smiled, she looked happy. He took a swig of his coffee and cringed at the taste. He glanced at the label and sighed in annoyance. "They gave me the wrong order" he mumbled. Tyler hated confronting people, even in these circumstances. He got to his feet and walked up to the counter "Hey man sorry to bother you but this isn't what I ordered. It's under Tyler and the name scribbled on here is Declan"
The barista lifted a brow at him and replied "I would never mess an order, enjoy your coffee freak. Be happy we're serving a burnout like you."
Tyler blinked a couple times in disbelief, it was a good thing his high made him so chill or else he would have ripped him a new one. He glanced around the shop until he spotted Declan patiently waiting and walked towards him "Hey, Declan right? I think they gave me your coffee" he said handing it over.

There were many familiar faces in the cafe but none that Declan was in the mood to talk to. He could go talk to the group of cheerleaders and validate his reputation of being a sweet talker. Sit with his football team and hang back with barbaric men only thinking about sex, booze, and football. But Declan didn't want to do any of that. He simply just wanted to order his coffee and go to the gym until this day was over. His dad would be home late and Declan could always swing by someone's house or a party if he came home early. Declan wasn't in the mood for a second beating today.

It was Declan's turn now to order his coffee. He thought about ordering something like a Soy Machiatto but he was in the mood for a nice strong black coffee. Declan went up to the register and made his order taking note of the cashier girl. He made sure to flirt with her a bit and get a number written down on his receipt even though he was more interested in the barista boy. Too bad that would only make his beating today look like nothing. Football was everything in his family and Declan wasn't allowed to screw that up.

Declan had been waiting on his order when someone came up to him with a cup in hand. Declan looked up and recognized him instantly. Tyler Kingsley. The man had a reputation in their small town but Declan didn't really care for the rumors. He didn't care for any rumors unless they were about him. "Hey, Declan right? I think they gave me your coffee" Declan gave him a kind smile before putting his hand around the cup and taking it. He looked at the label and took a sip. Mmm black... Exactly how he liked his coffee. "Thank you, Tyler." He grinned at him but then noticed he had no cup of his own. "Were you able to get yours?" He asked. "I could buy you another one."

Isabella looked around the small coffee shop and smiled. She noticed the cliques of people sitting at various tables as they chatted and drank their coffee. She quietly sat down at a small cozy little table by the window. She noticed Tyler rushed rather quickly to get their order. She awkwardly waited. She became more nervous as she sat their by herself. She noticed the cheerleaders staring at her as they whispered their sly comments. Of course everyone thought she was a slut who slept around. They called her another one of Tyler’s groupies. Except no one knew that they were just friends. She fumbled around with the bottom of her sleeves while she bite her bottom lip. For someone who acted so confident she sure wasn’t feeling it. Her head snapped at the sound of Tylers voice. ”"They gave me the wrong order”” he mumbled with an annoyed undertone. Isabella just nodded her head as she sipped her coffee. She swirled the spoon around the cup a couple of times before she noticed tyler had gotten up and gone to the counter. She let out a soft sigh as she stared at the delicious cookie in front of her. Of course she was never going to eat it. She thought about what her mother would say if she saw Isabela eating anything other then crackers or veggies. ”Darling you know that will go straight to your hips. Boys don’t like thick girls, that is why you are still single.” That is what her mother told her on her sixteenth birthday. Isabella felt sick to her stomach so she pushed the cookie towards the other side of the table. ”Tylers been gone an awful while."She mumbled as she looked around the small shop. Once she saw him she noticed Declan. Of course every girl was in love with him. Have you seen him. Isabella grabbed a pen from her bag and wrote on a napkin telling Tyler that she was going to go home and that he can take her car. She left her keys on the table with the napkin under it. She grabbed her jacket and buttoned it up around her small frame. She threw out the delicious cookie and walked out of the coffee shop. As she walked past the small shops she glanced in the windows of each one. Everything looked so simple yet in her life it wasn’t. It was complicated and messy.

Ellie jumped slightly at Sam's arrival, she had not heard him coming. ”Hey.” She straightened up properly but felt herself slouch in discomfort as he commented on her dress. She hated pink. She hated her mother for being so demanding. She hated dresses. She wanted to throw up again but she took a breath and recomposed herself.

She examined Sam for a moment and focused her energy on him, pushing all other thoughts aside. She began to ponder her and Sam's friendship, she had known him for years but lately she felt betrayed by him, especially since she saw him and Alby together. She wanted to confront him calmly, ask him why he hadn't mentioned it. His silence about the relationship had confirmed her suspicions, their best friend status was coming to an end, she couldn't trust him anymore. After all they'd been through. She was there for him when he came out to his parents and he was there for her when her sister died. Going through such events meant an unbreakable bond. But she felt his selfishness, she became hostile and cautious as she waited for him to say something.

“So” she said finally, her tone both awkward and suspicious “what’s new…”

As Declan grabbed the coffee from Tyler he glanced around to make his way back to his table but noticed it was empty with a scribbled napkin laying in sight. He lifted a brow in confusion Okay bye then... he thought. Tyler turned on his heel and refocused his attention on Declan when he offered to buy him another coffee. He smiled politely and said “Yea sure, if you can convince them to give me the right coffee...they’re not too fond of me here. I have a bit of history with the female baristas if you know what I mean.” He chuckled awkwardly and ran a hand through his hair.

He felt the energy of the room, he felt people staring at him. He shoved his hands in his pants pocket and swayed back and forth, the high was wearing off. “You go to my school right? I’ve seen you around before...I think we’ve worked together on a project…then again I'm pretty bad at remembering people or I confuse names and faces... he rambled and squinted his eyes in uncertainty, he felt awkward. Everyone in this town always judged him or never gave him the time of day so making new friends was never easy for Tyler.

2 Weeks Later

Declan was completely and utterly miserable at this event. If it wasn't a requirement for the team to be here, especially Declan, he wouldn't have bothered showing up. Of course Declan was forced to come thanks to being the star quarterback and his father showed up as well which would definitely make this night one to remember. Declan had to confiscate his flask but his father was still obviously tipsy from drinking before they came and an utter embarrassment for him as he bragged about his soon with a slurred speech and tripped around the room. His father didn't even need to show up considering the event was just an art fundraiser.

Declan eventually ditched his father and went on to do what was expected of him. He went around the room doing his best to sell some of the art. Most of them simply wanted to talk about his sports career and scholarships which Declan found a bit annoying. He rather hated having to talk about himself all the time like he was some perfect super star. Declan was anything but perfect.

Eventually he grew tired and left the parents he was speaking with. He scanned the room of students hoping there was at least someone here he could tolerate and make it through the night with before his father made a huge mess of things. Ellie was the first laid eyes on but she was already leaving. Next was Tyler. He locked eyes with him for only a moment before moving on. Declan hadn't seen him since that day at the coffee shop when he bought him a coffee after they confused their orders. Declan obviously found him attractive but he knew better when it came to crushing on straight men and keeping his sexuality a secret.

Declan found a small group of three clustered together and Declan instantly recognized each of them. Scarlet was among them and the only reason he even made his way over their after grabbing two glasses of champagne in order to uphold his reputation. He stepped into the group with his typical heart melting smile. "Good evening, ladies..." He handed a glass to Beatrice and Scarlet before acknowledging Sam Hawkins with a nod. "Sam." His attention went back to Scarlet as he glanced down at her. "You look breathe taking as always, Scarlet."

2 Weeks Later

The last two weeks Alby had spent either drunk or high, which was rare for him outside of a party. He liked the occasional beer with dinner, or a smoke on the balcony, but it was nothing like this. He was unraveling. The pressure of his lies was dragging him down, and he felt like his secrets were written across his forehead.

His life was coming apart.

The cops were watching him out of the corners of their eyes, Scarlet seemed to be everywhere he looked, he was seriously beginning to worry about Bea, and things with him and Sam had been...off, lately. Not bad, just...different. He figured it was all in his head, his latest secret, sitting heavily in his gut. He needed to tell someone. He tried telling Bea, more than once, but then he'd remember how much she hated Scarlet and he'd whimp out.

Standing in front of the mirror in his apartment, he thought he looked sick. His eyes were a little sunken in, his skin was too pale, and he was pretty sure he was sweating. With a sigh he wiped his forehead and then pressed it against the cool glass. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd eaten.

A text from Bea came in claiming she was going to be late, and Alby tried not to laugh because so was he. Finally he picked himself up and finished dressing. Slacks, a lilac button down which he actually tucked in, a nice jacket to go on over it. He usually liked these galas - he could be anyone he wanted for the night. Prim and proper and the kind of kid his father would have actually claimed.

The thought made his stomach twist and Alby actually almost threw up. Which would have been interesting, since he was pretty sure there was nothing to throw up. He sighed, tried to fix his hair, and then finally left the apartment. By the time he reached his destination, most people were already there.

He ran his hands through his hair and glanced around the room as soon as he entered. Of course, he saw Sam first, surrounded by a group. If it had just been Bea, he would have happily made his way over. But it wasn't. Alby's throat closed as he realized Scarlet was over there, and for a moment he panicked, but then he realized that she had no idea he was dating Sam, there would be no reason for her to spill their secret, so he relaxed. Declan Cain was over there too, and Alby was not a fan of him, so instead of trying to steal a few moments small-talk with his boyfriend, he just avoided the area altogether. At least until he caught Ellie's gaze, which wasn't exactly friendly. Fantastic.

She looked at Sam. He seemed to think her comment was rude but that was how she was she told people the truth because that is who she was. "Well Sam you know how God is always watching but I have been praying for you don't worry."

She looked at her cell phone the text quickly from Beatrice. She didn't really care she came when she does.

She looked as Declan came out. She found him very attractive but who knew what for sins he had and who he was sleeping or doing wrong and when he spoke about how lovely she looked she smiled, and a tiny blush appeared. It had been a while not that she ever really dated.

"Well thank you very much Declan you look handsome as well." I didn't want to wear this I had a dress but it already was getting to tight thanks a lot Alby. She thought to herself for a moment when she saw other people make their way over.

She noticed Alby and Ellie for a second she wanted to speak to both but she didn't want to interrupt. She looked towards Alby he was very well good looking he looked plain awful and even though she was the one pregnant and having way more issues then him. She wasn't going to hound him on it.

"Not a problem Sam, I had fun doing it the homeless is one of my favourite projects."

Beatrice's eyes went slightly wide with disbelief when Sam suggested it could have been one of her pieces the man was enquiring about and showing an interest in and her heart kind of fluttered with pride and passion for a brief moment. She hadn't sold much since the painting at the Craft store went, she'd sold two canvases but they came in a set and only just covered the cost of making them, which brought her the paints she needed to do all the work for the fundraiser. Although many people had a negative opinion on Beatrice's work ethic and general personality, no one could say she hadn't given her display at the fundraiser her all- she'd used only the finest paints and canvases and the images themselves were exquisite. She was arguably one of the best artists in their town and her style was so unique but so adaptable too, she covered everything from portraits, landscapes to abstract and to more cultured styles like experimentation with aborigine influences. She really put herself out there but the work she'd produced for the fundraiser today was oil paintings and sketches inspired the human form- there were many of hair and eyes, apparently they were her speciality or preference to paint but there was a beautiful piece of half a women's figure, emphasising her curves and the collar bones, each piece was unique and meaningful as if each paint stroke spoke a word Beatrice failed to ever vocalise.

"You're kidding me right?" For a moment she sounded genuinely ecstatic but she was ashamed of herself for showing such a childish amount of glee over something as silly as a painting. She didn't expect anybody else to understand but to her, it was one of the best feelings out there- falling second only to being high. "Tired but coping thanks Sam, what about yourself?" She asked trying to keep her language as filtered as possible considering the importance of conduct at such an event like this.

As Declan joined the group she smiled politely, she didn't really know the guy but Beatrice had never had a problem with expressing herself or communication, so talking to a slight stranger didn't strike her as a challenge nor a problem. "Evening Declan, thank you," She replied whilst accepting the drink with a polite smile but she casted a glance around the room to see if Alby was present to save her from the pursuing danger of small talk.

She was turning her head around, seeking out her most highly regarded friend but when she noticed him he was seemingly being hunted by Ellie and Beatrice thought better than to intervene after seeing the looks she was throwing around at people but even Ellie had to admit, her dress was awfully flattering. She grit her teeth at the thought- she was still furious Ellie wouldn't tell her the truth about the party. She was almost certain they'd hooked up and it certainly explain why Ellie was avoiding her but why? It's not like she was going to be a victim of homophobia because Beatrice got through okay as did Alby- sure Bea had trouble in the past but not for a year or so. So it wasn't that, was it a pride problem? Was she ashamed to be associated with Beatrice?

She figured it'd be something like that from the start but she still found herself feeling kind of offended but then again, she couldn't blame her. Beatrice was some sort of Greek tragic hero- all good intentions, loving and fair but doomed to make the wrong decision, again and again and again.

Her skin of itched and she felt like her eyes were genuinely sinking but she couldn't let on to how terrible she felt. She couldn't be questioned about her state because she'd have to lie or come with some kind of excuse, she couldn't exactly explain she shot up twice and drank a bottle of whiskey- that'd ruin her for the rest of her life. She'd have to leave town and everything to ever stand a chance of living such a thing down again.

She sighed and returned her attention to the conversation, a false smile being dragged across her lips as she pulled her sleeve over her forearm to veil the tracks in her forearm from any prying eyes.

"I think we're all feeling the same way- especially with Coach Williams expecting the athletics team to be at training every single evening, on top of having to train for cross-country," Sam said, shrugging and laughing a little. "But I'm fine, Beatrice, thank you." As Declan appeared, Sam nodded. "Declan," he replied taking a mouthful out of his drink. While he and Declan weren't exactly best buds, their mutual love for sport did give them something in common.

He glanced across the floor, thinking about going back to circulate and talk with the donors. However, his gaze landed on Ellie- who was, at that point in time, figuratively cornering Alby. Sam's stomach nearly plunged through the floor, while also twisting itself in knots.

"Excuse me," he said, grinning at everyone, before returning back to the floor. Maybe he could get one of them away before Ellie could say anything. He should have warned her, told her not to say anything to him. The fucking bitch. As if it wasn't enough to hold it over Sam, she had to bring Alby into it. Sam wasn't completely blind- he could tell something was up with Alby, but didn't want to pry. Not when he'd been keeping secrets from his boyfriend as well. But he knew for a fact that Alby didn't need this hanging over him as well.

Before he could actually get to them, somebody called his name. Mentally letting out a stream of curses, he turned around, a perfect smile on his face. The principal of all people was approaching, accompanying a tall man whose broad frame told of former sporting glories.

"Sam, I'd like you to meet Arthur Marin. He's a big advocator of athletics in schools, and I figured that it was only fitting that he met one of our best athletes our school has to offer," the principal said. Sam widened his smile and shook the taller man's hand. "I heard you're quite a cross-country star, Sam. Are you going for nationals this year?" Arthur asked. Sam shrugged. "It all depends on my performance between here and there, sir, but I'm hoping to," he replied. He was thrilled to get to talk to such an influential figure- but the thoughts of what Ellie was potentially saying to Alby at that moment detracted from it all.

The party dragged on and Declan was back to where he started: alone. His father was mostly likely passed out in the bathroom from throwing up all the crap he ate that day but Declan had his flask now so at least he wouldn't have to worry about his father getting any more drunk soon. He ended up conversing with more adults, coaches, and colleges through out the night. he avoided his team mates mainly because he was already aware what mischief they had planned and wanted no part of it. He'd been avoiding his team a lot since the party.

A firm hand landed on his broad shoulder before he even had a chance to take a step towards the small group of cheerleaders for the sake of distracting himself for the night. Declan looked back to see a brooding officer standing over him. He did his best to keep a calm composure as the man cleared his throat. "Sorry to bother you, Declan." Of course the officer knew him. Everyone seemed to know the star quarterback. He dug into his shirt pocket and pulled out a photograph of a boy. A boy Declan easily recognized. "This boy was found beaten half to death in the woods-" Declan had to stay as calm as possible not to give anything away. "Thankfully he's still alive but barely hanging on in the hospital. We've been asking around to see what happened and a few teammates said they saw you leave a party with him."

Declan nodded to the officer. "Yeah, I think his name was Leo. Talented kid. He had the makings of being a great receiver..." Images of him and Leo flashed through his mind... "Well he won't be receiving anymore..." They went back to his place and fooled around on the couch... "What happened when you left the party?" His dad walked in... "He had a few too many drinks that night so I decided to just give him a ride home." He took him out into the woods... "Did anything else happen?" He had a bat... "No." There was so much blood... "Are you sure?" He left him for dead... "Yes."

The officer sighed and folded his arms. He already knew. Two more officers closed in on him and he panicked. He tried to run completely confused over what was happening but they already had him. One brought his hands behind his back. "You're under arrest for the attempted murder of Leo McKnight..." He began reading off his rights and Declan flared up with anger as he struggled with the cops while they handcuffed him. "This is fucking stupid! I didn't do anything! You can't fucking do this!" He caused a complete scene as they began dragging him out of the school.

She continued up in the bathroom and walked out in the hall to see her parents speaking with an officer discussing on how there should be more programs in town to keep kids out of trouble. As she walked over to her parents she nudged them.

"Just leave the kind officer alone they are working on a case mum and dad come and enjoy the party." She said smiling as she walked with her parents to a bunch of other adults and let them talk as she was grabbing another glass of punch because she needed to go to the bathroom more tonight most likely.

She looked as someone was running through and then an officer cuffed him in front of her. She couldn't remember his name but she knew that for him she would have to pray. What ever he did he needs forgiveness. And since she lived in a world where they never wanted to ask for forgiveness she wanted to ask for everyone else.

She wanted everyone to recieve a garden of roses in heaven for each person they helped. She wanted to have everyone be happy in heaven. But she knew with even her sin the Lord would still one day judge her on all mistakes. But she couldn't wait till she went to the good place.

She watched as they took him away and she heard everyone wishpering. She knew that, that was definetly not good.

"What are you on Ty? Are you crazy doing drugs in public, you could have-"
"Dad it's fine, I'm sober now don't worry about it..."
"Don't worry about it? Son we're at a public event, what the fuck did you take? How could you do this, the cops have been over at our place three times in the last two days. You really think this will make things better? We're almost out of money fighting for you Ty, and honestly I don't know why we're bothering anymore...here. This wipe your face, dry off and come back to the party. We have to endure this place until the cops let us go, try not to make a scene again...

Tyler's dad stormed out of the washroom whilst cursing furiously under his breath. "Jackass" Tyler mumbled. He stared at his ghost like face in the mirror, he was tired that was clear. He bowed his head at his reflection whilst thoughts of that last couple minutes flooded his brain. His whole body began to vibrate uncontrollably, he wanted to punch something and yet not because he was angry...

There was another emotion taking over, something Tyler was very familiar with. Dark thoughts flooded his brain, he had a longing and yearning...he needed to...he wanted to...

Tyler took a breath, he looked back at his reflection, the darkness in his eyes began to faded. He smiled weakly and recomposed himself for the fourth time making himself look semi presentable.

He walked out to the party, a couple individuals glanced at him but they averted their stares quickly. He spotted Scarlet staring worriedly at a scene and made his way next to her to see what all the fuss was about. "The fuck...why are they arresting Declan?" he questioned with slight panic in his voice.

"So let me get this straight...this is the third time in the past three months?"

Ellie nodded, she felt frustrated and confused...she wanted answers "It just keeps happening you know? I think I've made $30,000 all together. The worst part is I don't know who the benefactor is or what I'm doing that's so...right..."

Tyler scratched his head and placed his mug filled with dark roast on the chestnut coffee table. They sat in Ellie's dim lit living room, the surroundings almost haunting with pictures of her sister on nearly every wall. The only sound heard aside from their own voices was the ticking of an old grandfather clock sitting on the center of a shelf above the stone fireplace. The windows were sealed shut and had been for weeks now, one of the bulbs in the chandelier was burnt out and all the surfaces were covered in a light coat of dust.

After the gala, Ellie's parents took a much needed stress relief vacation, they left out of the blue and gave no notice for when they would return. During their absence Ellie had spent her days cooped in her large house only leaving when absolutely necessary, basically only for school and sports. On the brighter side over the last two weeks she had gained a few pounds. Her talk with Bea and Sam's unfortunate event gave her a realization that she needed to start taking care of herself. Although nutrition was present and she appeared healthier, she spent most of her nights laying on the bathroom floor crying and throwing up.

As for Tyler, since the gala he was on even closer watch. His outburst attracted plenty of media attention but luckily for him the arrests appeared to be more interesting. He'd been interviewed by the police almost everyday, questions were becoming redundant, the interrogations were useless and Tyler had become annoyed. On his down time away from school and the interviews he'd spent most of his time at Ellie's. They had become even closer friends since the gala since Isabella had become MIA and Ellie was avoiding everyone.

"I've tried on numerous occasions to return the money, I've paid a bank teller to watch my account and see if any signs or clues would pop up but nothing...Ty, if the cops catch wind of this they may think I've had something to do with the murders."

Tyler twirled his thumbs whilst pondering what to say, when he couldn't think of anything he pulled out a blunt from his jean pocket and smiled "Let's forget about our worries?"

Ellie chuckled as Tyler lit up the joint and passed it over. The duo weezed at the burning sensation in their throats and the energy in the room became relaxed. "I miss Bea, I keep wanting to message her but...I just can't"
Tyler took one last hit of the joint, coughed a little and nodded "You know El, why don't you just do it? Clearly you like this girl so give her a shout. I don't think staying in this house is doing much good. I mean sooner or later these walls and that goddam clock that crows every hour is bound to drive you insane."
"I suppose you're right, I should call up Sam too"
"Yup, sounds like you have much to do. Anyways I'm going to take off!"
"So soon? You've been hear like twenty minutes"
"Yea well...you have a lot to do. See yea El" he said getting to his feet and making his way out without another word.

Ellie stared at the empty space next to her in confusion, Tyler had been acting weird that was obvious but considering he was her only friend right now she thought it best not to question him. Ellie grabbed her phone that sat on the coffee table and sent Bea and Sam a text.

To: Sam & Bea
Message: Hey, can we meet? I think we need to talk

She placed her phone on her lap and sunk down on the couch. She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing, the last couple weeks had been...lonesome.

Tyler wandered about the streets after he left Ellie's home. He stared at his feet and kicked a rock whilst thinking about the last couple weeks and the night of the gala. There was a huge hole in his memory, his hands had scratches on them for reasons he could not remember and people avoid him even more than usual. The last thing he remembered was talking to Scarlet about Declan's arrest, after that his parents dragged him out and took him home.

Tyler paused outside the usual coffee shop where Alby worked. He stared through the window curiously, the place seemed lifeless without the upbeat barista and yet his arrest put him at ease. If Alby had been the one behind anything that would mean the cops would drop his case and move on, but he knew that was unlikely. If he'd remember that night perhaps he could offer freedom to either Declan or Alby but his word was useless according to the cops.

Tyler turned away from the window and leaned against it. He watched the boulevard in front of him observed people as they rushed by, admiring the sounds of the busy streets and zoned out into the abyss.

As he kissed her temple and he spoke to her somehow his words calmed her. She was just so nervous before and he somehow just put it to rest. But she was still herself and the worry would come back and she knew that.

As the guard came in and Alby said what he said she felt like it was so real she could believe him. She smiled as he walked out of the room with the guard and the guard spoke to her.

"No problem he is a good kid. He will make an amazing person in society. Take care guard." She said looking at him. As she looked around the cell room holding the bible with the picture of the infant.

She was so excited to be a mother and she had a feeling he would be a part of their child's life. She was worried about how it would all work but she just knew that she was happy.

Declan sat sprawled on his bed in the corner of his cell completely alone as one hand traced the bruises, cuts, and scars on the other. He'd gotten used to them by know. His hands ended up battered and bruised almost everyday from the fights. They were happening less now but some people were still stupid enough to consider themselves tough. Declan knocked them back into their place until guards had to beat him into a submission for a brief time period until he was dragged back into his lonely cell to sit there quietly and traced his knuckles.

He'd been in there for so long he'd even forgotten why he was there in the first place. Was Declan guilty? Yes. But what for? For beating a kid that could have blown his scholarship opportunities? Yes. For attacking Sam? No. For killing others his age? Maybe. Declan wasn't even sure what he was capable of anymore. All Declan really knew was he needed to get out. He needed to go home. He needed to play football again.

To be honest, Declan had forgotten how long he'd even been in here or how they managed to keep him here legally. He also didn't understand why he hadn't really spoken with any lawyer or seen his father. Wouldn't his father want justice or was he too busy getting drunk? Declan decided to finally get up and do something when he convinced a guard to let him make a phone call to the one person he could get him out of this mess. "Hey, Kara. I need your help..."

Scarlet walked out of Alby's room and slowly walked down the hall to a room where the guard said she could wait for Declan. She never met him but she knew that she could do her job.

She was good at trying to talk about God. She was one of God's biggest believer's. She was praying herself for a minute she needed to.

"God, I know you are listening, I need you to protect Alby, and Sam and hopefully me and my baby. There are so many children in the world and people you need to look out for. And I am sure your asking why to watch out for a bunch of gay guys and a girl who has done a pretty moral sin. I just hope you can for my families sake. I know they will disown me from the family line but I just have to move forward with my life."

She said getting off her knees grabbing two rosaries and sat down with her bible waiting for the young man to come talk with her.

Minutes had passed as Declan continued to talk on the phone. "I can't do this without you." He smiled as he spoke. A real smile. A rare sight that only the stranger across the line could create. More minutes ticked by as a guard finally came up to Declan and had him get off the phone. Declan fought back a bit like he did with any guard. It'd gotten to the point that he didn't believe he even belonged there. But Declan did. Declan was guilty of something even if he refused to acknowledge or see it as wrong.

The guard hustled him away from the phone and detained him as they lead him down a hall into the visitors area. Declan never got any visitors. No one wanted to see him. They all heard about what happened and now they all think he's some sort of monster. But here they were. His visitor with bright blonde hair and sitting like she just finished one of her prayers which made Declan snicker a bit as the guard sat him down and uncuffed him. He leaned forward just enough not to get in trouble. "Well if it isn't Scarlett Richardson. Come to bring me to the path of God or are bad boys just your thing?" There was a slight smirk on his lips as he spoke. It seemed almost out of character form the golden boy everyone knew.

Scarlet turned to face the door as he walked in and spoke. A smirk on his face and with that she stood and smiled. "I did come here for you to find your path to God but as I sit here looking at you I don't know if your interested."

She looked at him gently. "See not a lot of people know that in Catholicism the priest will listen to your sins and you are forgiven because God has mercy on all his sons and daughters. And everything you do or did you say it and it will be wiped away. Like an erase board with dirty words wiped away forever."

She said looking at him gently as she had grabbed a rosary. "Did you want to say the rosary with me?" She said looking at him gently.
