Long ago the continent Mundus alter existed in a state of bloodshed and war. Humans and monsters coexisted in this world, the small and fragile humans offering gifts to appease the monsters that walked along with them. The largest of the monsters received the most offerings and worship, and chaos fell when the smaller, envious, monsters began attacking out of spite. These lesser monster took advantage of humanities inability to fight them. As the monster population grew humanity began to discover new ways to fight the creatures, using their brains and adaptability to begin to outwit and beat the slower minded monsters that stood before them.

Image

Humanity began to gain momentum and power against the monsters that they once feared quickly and in a short period of time. They found specialized weaknesses for each species and the counter attack against the monsters came in full swing. With a taste of power the people of Mundus alter did not stop the eradication of the monsters. Revenge filled minds conquered the creatures and drove many species into extinction. Terrified, the monster began to go into hiding, the weaker monsters, that had brought upon the wrath of humanity, groveled at the feet of the most powerful and ancient of monsters. They begged these creatures for solace and safety from the humans.

Image

These ancient monsters, however; did not take pity upon these creatures. They had not brought upon humanity's rage, and knew they had nothing to fear. As time went on, the humans got bored with the smaller game monsters that they had nearly driven to extinction, and thus began to move onto bigger, stronger monsters did the ancient creatures begin to worry. One of the oldest beings on Muntus alter descended upon the humans to strike a deal, its name was Huitzilopochtli and its presence struck fear into the hearts of the people it faced. It rooted itself into the ground of a large plateau in the RyRidge Mountains and waited. Its unblinking eyes obverting the humans, its stony mouth frozen in a menacing grin. It took eight months for the first human to approach it, Huitzilopochtli's eyes followed the small creature's every movement, its grin never fading. "You are the first to approach me, I have seen your face and will never forget. Go back to your life, when the time comes I will find you." It said to the human, and the human left with only a grateful bow on shaking legs.

Image

For two years Huitzilopochtli sat on the plateau on RyRidge mountain, and in that time five other humans approached it. For each of them it spoke the same words to the first. After the two years had past the giant monster moved from his spot for the first time since arriving and it let out a roar that echoed across the continent. It took several days for the humans to arrive, but once they did Huitzilopochtli granted the humans brave enough to come to it with a gift. They received a section of the continent, and drank the blood of Huitzilopochtli to ensure they would be reincarnated eternally. As assurance of their new power the ancient creature called upon monster species the humans had nearly driven to extinction, each the last of their kind, and bond each human soul to a monster, so that their monster companion would reincarnate as well, therefore never going extinct.

Image

After giving the gifts Huitzilopochtli brought down the Gemini Twins from the heavens and appointed them guardians of the bloodlines. Their jobs to take care of the future generations guaranteed to come, to nurture the eggs of the beasts that would come from the earth with the birth of the new generation and protect them until the beasts came to be old enough to do it themselves, as the eggs of the beasts would not hatch until they were touched by their human counterpart. Thus this story creates the legend of the six riders, the blood granted leaders of Mundus alter.

"Oh hell fuckin yeah. I’m so hungry I could eat a sand worm, the whole motherfucking thing. Let’s go somewhere we can sit down and eat some good ass food." Mordred raised a quizzical eyebrow as he led Amir out of the door and into the street once more.
"Those truly exist? I always thought they were nothing more than a myth. Surely there can't be enough sand for them to burrow well." After all, he reasoned, even the dirt gives way to stone if one digs deep enough.

The streets had calmed down a slight amount in their absence. It was just about the first hour past noon, judging on the sun as it peeked behind the clouds, which was the usual time most ate their midday meal. It made sense though that most would chose to either wait a little bit or eat a bit earlier, so as to avoid the crowding that sometimes happened around the more popular food business's. Still, he walked quickly through the crowd, focusing on picking his path in between the small clumps of people when the gaps formed. Most were too preoccupied with the shops around them to really notice the pair walking by.

"You know, this place isn’t too bad when Trytheus isn’t around to annoy the shit out of you." Mordred had to chuckle at that. Trytheus did have a certain way to rub people the wrong way with an almost unnatural skill. He had to wonder if it was the mans personality that caused it or he just held the kind of aura that made people feel generally uneasy and angry. It was like the man was angry bear, unpredictable and dangerous and not just a little irritating to try to placate.
"Us mortal folk do tend to be a little more amenable compared to the Riders, present company excluded of course. Its just that... Well, we've grown used to our own Rider being as he is that any others are viewed with a bit of suspicion when it turns out they don't act the same."

It didn't take much longer for the smells of gently cooking food to return pleasantly. Though it had taken them longer than if they had decided to go through the alleyways again, Mordred was reluctant to going through there again right now. He wasn't exactly sure if more fiends were lurking the shadows, nor would he be sure that he could simply deflect them this time. And though he didn't doubt Amirs fighting skill he wasn't exactly willing to risk a sword fight in such enclosed quarters if at all possible. He was however now at a crossroads at where to go to find food. It would be possible to find a good tavern, but he wasn't exactly in the mood for the stuffy air and overpowering smell of ale that followed every meal there. Instead that left him to decide which shop would work well enough, some places knew him and some didn't. Either group would work, but perhaps it would be good to demonstrate some proper wholesome Amstrian food to Amir that came from the simple folk rather than the cooks in the Keep. With his destination set he set his quick pace off once more, trusting Amir to be able to follow in good step.

They came up to the stone buildings where Mordred was sure he could find something good to eat. Customers usually tended to buy their food and then leave to eat elsewhere so he was fairly confident that they could get something to eat without waiting in a long line when he heard Amir behind.
"Has anyone tried to kidnap you before?"
He stopped dead in his tracks. Had anyone tried to kidnap him? No, of course not, that would be ridiculous wouldn't it?

He couldn't help but remembering his childhood. The last day of his childhood. His father had left earlier to go on a boar hunt, his father loved to hunt, the hall was lined with the heads of his kills that he loudly liked to boast about. Though Mordred couldn't remember the tales of the hunt his father had told him as a child, he remembered he always felt happy at his fathers happiness.

Ancestors he remembered it all.

"Mordred? Are you in here?" The young boy stilled a giggle as his nursemaid walked past his hiding spot behind a wicker basket. He had managed to slip away from her whilst she was looking out of a window and had spent the last ten minutes hiding from her. "Well if you're not in here I suppose I'll just have to have afternoon tea without you." His ears pricked up at the thought of not being able to have his beloved lemon cakes. That just wouldn't do!

"I'm here!" He cried, jumping out from behind the basket. The four year old boy had done a surprisingly good job of curling up into a ball so that he couldn't be seen. His nursemaid jumped back in mock surprise, a hand flying to her heart.
"My Mordred, you frightened me. I would never have found you there!" She moved quickly to pick the young boy up before he could scurry off again, eliciting a fit of giggles as he was lifted into the air. "Come on then. Lets find you some cakes then shall we?" The young boy bounced happily against the nursemaids chest at the sound of finally getting his cakes.

She carried him through the stone halls, spring light bleeding through the open castle windows that light up the stone in a wondrous yellow light. The young boy made a game of trying to grab the antlers of the heads that lined across the hall, actually managing to just about grasp the tip of one before his nursemaid caught what he was up to and stopped to see what exactly he was trying to grab over his shoulder. "Oh? What have you found there?" Turning to see the animals head mounted on the wall she smiled down at the boy in her arms. "What animal is that Mordred?"
"Is elk!" Mordred declared happily. The nursemaid looked down sternly at him.
"It is an elk, Mordred. Proper pronunciation is always important." The young boy nodded solemnly as he mouthed 'it is an' over and over.

The nursemaid carried the boy over to one of the wide window frames an sat against the stone sill. The castle that was the boys home sat atop a hill, in the middle of a huge woods, where trees sometimes reached as high as the castle walls themselves. If one looked very hard they could see the plains just beyond the edge of the treeline. Or they could look down where the trees were cut back from the walls and the huge track that was the main road up the gates of the castle and lose themselves in trying to watch the swaying of the branches. "Where do elk come from Mordred?"
"Out there! With the deer in the woods." The boy beamed up at his teacher.
"Very good, but you also find them out in the plains too. Deer are like us, they are happy wherever they are, as long as they are with their families." Mordred didn't really seem to take in the lesson as he looked out into the treeline, as though he was looking very hard to see if a herd of deer were looking back at him.
"Will I hunt deer one day?"
"I suppose you will, yes."
"I'm going to be the best hunter in the world!" Mordred declared happily. The nursemaid chuckled happily at the boys enthusiasm.
"I think your father may have to have words with you about that." The young boy didn't really know what to make of that so he returned to looking out of the window into the trees.

His eyes were suddenly drawn by a group of men riding fast towards the castle, with a wagon being pulled behind them. He recognised the pennon being flown by one of them as the banner of Mulasice, the banner of his home. The burning tree on a field of green was hoisted all around the castle that was home. He could see that the men didn't wear the shiny armour of the knights and instead wore simple browns and greens that could only mean it was his father, returning from the hunt he had departed on some day earlier
"Papa!" He called out, wriggling out of the nursemaids grip and speeding off down the halls, with the woman trying to give chase to young boy. Down the stone hall and down flights of twisting stairs until he came to a small door that opened out into the courtyard beyond.

The first thing he noticed as he exploded excitedly out was that he couldn't see his father. The men had arrived in the courtyard but everyone was clustered around the cart that had been following behind the party. He could see the group hurrying around then began to move towards the main doors of the castle, whilst he stood next to the door to one of the towers. He could see that in their midst that they were carrying someone. And as they got closer he could see that they were carrying his father. He didn't understand, he just looked like he was sleeping. But his face was pale and he was breathing fast and hard. Before he could hurry over to find out what was going on he felt his nursemaid snatch him up from behind, having finally caught up with him.
"Come away now Mordred, its time for your afternoon tea."
"Whats happened to papa? Is he alright?"
"He'll be fine. Come on now." She carried him inside once more.

The rest of the day passed with a sense like the air was holding its breath. Everyone moved with a nervous energy and people were often passing back and forth about the place with an uncertain look in their eye and quickness in their step. Mordred ate his evening meal alone that night, that never happened. The large seat at the table that was his fathers sat empty, whilst the smaller seat next to it was always empty. He had heard that that was his mothers seat, but he had never met his mother and didn't know exactly where she was. He had overheard some people whispering that she had passed away trying to give him to the world, but he didn't know what that meant either. Even some of the men who often wore shiny armour didn't eat with him.

That night he couldn't sleep. The way people were acting had left him restless and counting sheep was doing nothing to help him, so he decided to take a walk though the castle to try to tire himself out a bit. The castle was practically deserted and when he eventually did hear voices it was only two of them. He recognised one as Sir Mallisent, the man his father had called a 'master-at-arms' and Devon, the man who would sit on his fathers throne when his father was off hunting. He could just about make out what they were saying as he approached.

"-ou saw him in there. Don't tell me you think it's all going to go fine and dandy." The voice of Sir Mallisent. It sounded angry for some reason.
"I don't know! He has the kings blood in him, that must count for something." Devon sounded scared and confused.
"What good is that going to do him? How many men have you seen walk off being gored through the gut, Devon?"
"No many. But you don't know. It might be alright. We can't start to panic right now. After all, apothecary Casius said..."
"Never mind what the apothecary said, we still have to take precautions just in case. I have already sent a raven to the king. A contingent of knights will be here shortly."
"You've done what?! Sullest is still alive and you're already scheming up some plot?" It was here that Mordred, who had been leaning around the door frame of the room that the two men had been arguing in when Mallisent spotted his little face peering in.
"Mordred! What are you doing up? You should be abed!" He made a gesture and a guard who had been standing just out of sight emerged. The man smiled kindly to the little boy and made to pick up him.
"Come on now little one, Sir Mallisent is right. Lets get you back to bed."

The nervous air hung around for the next few days when it was broken suddenly by the arrival of strangers in the castle. The strange men rode in wearing shiney armour and held shields with a circle and a hammer painted on. Behind the men a covered carriage followed shortly behind. Mordred was brought not long after they had arrived. One of the men was talking to Sir Mallisent, who quickly concluded their conversation and strode over to the boy. He armoured man knelt down and smiled at the boy, but the boy couldn't help but notice the smile didn't really each the mans eyes.
"Hello there, Mordred. I am Lord Kalice, and I am here to take you to the capital. You're going to be the ward of the king, it's a very high honour thats only afforded to you because he is your spiritual ancestor. Did you know that?" The young boy gave a confused nod. He didn't like the man, he just felt... Wrong. All together alien to him, in the way he talked to the way his voice just held the underline sound of someone who gets whatever he wants no matter what he must do for it. Kalice stood up and placed a hand on the back of Mordreds head, guiding him over to the carriage. He looked back to the castle to see if he was doing the right thing. He would have bolted back there if he didn't see his nursemaid stood by the steps to the doors nodding him onwards. It looked like she was fighting back tears and he could feel them welling up inside himself. He didn't understand what was going on.

He was urged, fairly roughly inside the carriage. Thankfully Kalice didn't try to follow him inside and instead shut the door behind him, locking the latch so he could escape. He almost fell over as the carriage lurched forwards and he tried desperately to look out of the window as the castle fell away. As he was forced to leave his home behind.

He didn't understand why this was happening. And it wouldn't be for another ten years until he had the chance to return to his home.

Mordred felt a shuddering breath leave his lips. He quickly blinked away the sting in his eyes as tears threatened to form. His gaze slowly dropped to the sword at his hip, the last and only piece of his father that he had to remember him by. His father had died whilst he had been on the road to city. He hadn't even been able to return to say goodbye as his father was entombed. It took him ten years until he could finally say his farewells. Ten long years too late. But surely the men had taken him away for his own good. They had taken him to learn with the best, to be moulded into a steadfast knight and a protector of the people. They had taken him so that he could fulfil his duty to his name, his people, his eternal ancestor. Could anyone really call that kidnapping if it were done with such good intentions in mind?

"Yes." He answered weakly, he couldn't fail to hear just how pathetic and soft his voice was. He stepped inside the stone building quickly, trying to get away from the spot so the feelings of sorrow welling up in chest couldn't follow him. Luckily inside there were few people and it was light and airy, the smell of food thick and appealing. There were a few tables that sat next to the open windows and most of them sat empty. Nor was there a cue so Mordred could quickly place the order. He ordered a pair of pastries for himself and Amir, they were semi-circles of thick pastries with even thicker crusts around the curved edge. He knew from experience that they held thick cuts of choice beef ass well as cubes of turnips, potatoes and diced onion, somehow they even managed to contain a thick and rich gravy. Thankfully two such pastries were sitting waiting to be ordered so they were handed over to him on a pewter platter. Mordred made his way over to one of the table and placed the platter down on the side. On the walk from counter to table he had kept his eyes downcast, to the casual observer it would look like he was just making sure they didn't slide off the platter but if one paid close attention they could see his eyes were unfocused as he wrestled on the inner conflict in himself, trying to cast away the long held sadness that festered in his heart. He sat down at the table and looked down at the pastries, watching the steam rising off of them. "Careful." He muttered, his voice still not returned to its normal joyful tones. "They're hot. Best to let them cool a bit."

"The one about the fae? There was a couple..." Skyla responded after she nearly jumped out of her skin.

Enyo probably looked like a mad woman as she threw books across the room, sniffing back the blood that threatened to trickle down her nose. If anything, now, she felt as though time was of the essence. She didn't know but she just had this feeling... Deep in her gut that they were under the clock even more than the other riders. Something said he wanted to use this against them and that if they didn't get it soon... Who knew what would happen.

"Oberon's Dagger... How do you know this be t' weapon that we need?" Skyla asked after she pointed out the weapon they needed.

She sighed, wiping her nose. "You know how the twins said something about us all being connected to the beast somehow?" She went silent for a moment, "I get these... visions... But I wouldn't really call it that it's not like I see the future." Enyo tried to figure out how to word it, "I get glimpses of insight into his thoughts... And I saw that." She pointed to the dagger once again, "I think he wants this to use it against us so we can't stop him. So we not only need this to stop him, but we also need to get there before him. And since it's Fae... That would be a good place to start."

"They have a kin'dom in t' forests o' this region so we don't have t' travel too far at least. None o' t' books tell exactly where t' Fae live. We'll have t' find them ourselves." Enyo nodded her head as she scooped every book about the Fae, but most specifically the one about the dagger. "Shall we get goin'? I be itchin' t' get this started. We don't have a lot o' time."

Enyo nodded her head, leaving a couple gold coins and apology note for the mess they made. "We don't." She agreed about the time they had to figure this out. "And I think I might have to go crazy if I read another book comparing the sands of Amstra to the sands of Gnaji." She rolled her eyes as she hefted up the books and headed out of the library.

Enyo had no idea what the Fae were like. She read numerous books about them but that still didn't tell her about how they'd act when strangers travel through their land. If they were a helpful society or violent. So in a nutshell she had absolutely no idea what to expect. Once her and Skyla reached the woods, Enyo dismounted Nyx and told her to keep a fair distance in the woods. Enough so the beast could keep its eyes on her but not too close to be threatening to the Fae.

She walked grasping the book with the single picture of the dagger held tightly against her breast. This was all they had for a lead. Who knew if there were any other copies of this book? They couldn't risk it or have to waste time going to yet another library and searching. that would be counter productive. So instead she walked with it in her clutches.

"What happens if we cross the entire forest and don't encounter them?" She looked towards Skyla curiously. "These books say nothing about how to even track them down. If I had their scent, Nyx could track them... But we don't have that either."

Before she could say anything else, something clipped Enyo's foot as she took a step causing her to nearly fall over. Her gaze looked around and saw something from her peripheral... Something small, flying about. Then by the time she took another step something was wrapped around her ankles which restricted her from completely the step. "This isn't good." She said as she fell to the ground, the book slipping from her grasp on the way down.

From the ground she could see them all buzzing around, frantically dragging ropes everywhere across her. Enyo started thrashing furiously, breaking some of the ropes but in other areas where they were reenforced they wouldn't budge. Before she was unable to move at all she quickly crawled towards the book and grasped in tightly in her hand. She brought it to her chest once again, but this time when she kicked her legs they binds held her still. Enyo tried to wiggle and break free but after a few moments of trying, she sighed and let her head fall back in the grass. "Great."

It didn't take long for her to get used to the cold water. After a few short moments it was almost refreshing, relieving to an extent, freeing some of the tension that had knotted her muscles since the early days of their sea voyage. She scrubbed gently at her limbs to clean away any dirt and grime but careful not to scrub too hard at the paint.

She was relieved to hear that they shouldn't need to be traveling anywhere by boat anytime soon. She held back the urge to let loose a sigh of relief, instead she briefly submerged her head, the cooling water jolting her mind, she tossed her head back, her hair slapping against her shoulders and smiled at Dae. "That's good. I prefer my next trip by boat to be shorter, work myself up to the week long trips, you know?" She said, giggling slightly.

Shortly after Dae had gotten out of the water, she felt she had spent enough time in it herself and that she was sufficiently clean. She swam slowly to the edge of the water, gentle strokes carrying her to the spot where their clothes were waiting. Climbing out from the water, she pulled her hair tight into one hand and draped it around her shoulder. She dried off using the other cloth Dae had provided, and afterwards she dressed in the fresh leather bottoms and top similar to the one she wore before, only less tattered.

She perched on the boulder next to Dae, eyeing his dagger curiously as he spun it in his hand, her own fingers running through her hair to work loose some of the wet knots. He offered her a brief look, and she glanced into his eyes, something seemed to be troubling him, a deep disturbance beneath the surface, but when he opened his mouth to speak, only questions of what it was like to live on a farm came out.

It caught her off guard, and she looked away for a moment, focusing her attention on the water as she decided how best to answer. "It was...simple. There were plenty of animals to be taken care of, mostly horses, cows, chickens and pigs, but a few others. Then there was the crops, every year we'd have an entire field ready to be harvested. Many things grew their, I don't think I could name them all off the top of my head." She paused, as if she'd forgotten what she had planned to say next.

"I spent so much time with my brothers, my father let me tend to a small garden out back, said a lady should have some time to smell the flowers. Most of my spare time was spent there, if I found a flower I liked, I would take it from the garden and share them with the villagers. Most of them were hard workers and didn't have much free time to admire the simpler beauties, and I wanted to share it with them."

She looked back to Dae again, and couldn't help but feel like she was somehow, however indirectly, the result of his current malcontent. Averting her gaze, she rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry about your friend, the rider before me. Truly I am." Then for a few moments she remained silent, hoping she hadn't said something wrong.

Mordred’s abrupt stop at the question had Amir’s guilt spiking. He had been hoping that the questioned would have been brushed off as Amir being an idiot, but he seemed to strike a chord within in Mordred. The boy stood frozen for a moment, his eyes distant as the replaying of an undoubtedly unpleasant memory was suddenly at the forefront of his mind. He watched as the boy came back from the memory an how he glanced down at the thin sword attached to his side. Mordred looked as though he was ready to cry.

“Yes.”
Mor didn’t look at him as he entered the building and Amir shuffled in quietly behind him. He wasn’t good with sensitive situations, he didn’t know how to deal with deal, or how to say the right things to make someone feel better, or say anything at all. His voice had been soft, and shaky, and anything but ok. Clearly Amir had overstepped a red lined boundary that should not have been crossed. Even as they sat Mordred made no attempt to mask his inner turmoil. His words were void of the soft, comforting tone that he had used since meeting Amir. Despite how hungry he had been on their walk over, the boy suddenly found he had no appetite. The wasn’t sure what exactly to do, or how to go about trying to comfort Mordred.

“Amir, you can’t just stare at him like a half-witted moron. Please, do something other than look uncomfortable and try to fix this.” Hassan didn’t normally take up a tone of annoyance with him. Amir was used to being bossed around and being mother-henned by his beast, but rarely did the bird ever take a tone of agitation with him. The bird was probably angry that one of his stupid, half thought, comments finally had repercussions. He glanced up at Mordred, watching the boy as he stared blankly at the steam, he really had no idea how to break the tension. Hesitantly, the boy reached over a grabbed Mordred’s hand, squeezing it and meeting the boy’s eyes.

“Mor, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories. I’m just a fucking idiot. It's your eyes, blue eyes are the most valuable in the slave trade, and yours are the brightest I've ever seen. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?” He didn’t know if Mordred would even want Amir to do anything. The boy knew from personal experience that he himself preferred locking away the unpleasant memories and pretending they never happened, but that wasn’t the case for everyone. Others needed to confide in others when something troubled them, and hell, Amir probably should have done that with his own issues, but it was too late for that now. Instead, he held Mordred’s gaze with steely determination, if Mor did have a request for him he’d definitely do it.

Idiot. Compose yourself. Mordred berated himself as he sat across from Amir Acting sorry for yourself will not achieve anything. Worse you may drive him away. Get a grip. He blinked, holding his eyes shut for a moment, trying to bring himself back to his normal self. Nobody ever got anything done by being resentful of their childhood, and on top of that continuing as such would only sour the air between himself and Amir. So why was he acting like this? It could be possible that just the presence of a foreign entity was affecting him in unusual ways, or it could be a part of Amirs nature. He was more direct, more blunt and to the point than Mordred was used to. He held none of ulterior motives of the nobility. He was... Simpler than Amstra, he admired that.

His eyes shot open when he felt a gentle pressure on his hand. His heart gave an unusual flutter as he looked down to see Amir was holding his hand. Part of him wanted to just tear off his glove and actually feel the warmth of an others skin for the first time in far too many moons. It was like a craving in him to just reach out with his other hand and cusp Amirs in a similar gesture. And yet, at the same time part of him wanted to recoil, to hide himself away again and avoid the blond boys touch as best he could, he wasn't deserving of that tanned flesh anywhere near his. But he didn't do either, he wrestled away the desires of his heart and just let his hand stay there, held for just this brief moment underneath the black leather of his glove. His eyes were drawn back up to Amirs, where that same look of openness sat behind the veil of savagery. The same look he had seen in those brown pools back in the alleyway.

"Mor, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories. I’m just a fucking idiot. It's your eyes, blue eyes are the most valuable in the slave trade, and yours are the brightest I've ever seen. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?"
"Don't." Mordred smiled sadly, shaking his head. His voice had regained some of its familiar light again, he had to wonder how much was from his own attempt at recollecting himself and how much had been the sudden contact. "You couldn't have known, doubtless some would not consider it kidnap when the Order of the Forge comes to take you to learn at the heels of the king. No matter how unwilling you are to leave." He knew Amir wouldn't know exactly what he was talking about and he didn't much care, perhaps he would figure some parts out of his own initiative. But it was that part of the slave trade that caught his attention, such things had long been outlawed in Amstra, with great force at that. But Amir spoke of it as if he knew it personally. But he didn't have the air of the common bandit or merchant so it couldn't have been on the buyers side of the ordeal and he spoke with such familiarity of it that it seemed almost as if... It was a horrific idea to contemplate and he was afraid to ask about it. Some things were better left in the minds of long dead childhoods.
"There is one thing though. Tell me something, you speak with a... Fondness, a familiarity almost and a kindness that is rare found in Amstra. It is not often a person tells me that... Who I bed does not affect who I am, even the few who I have managed to convince to spend a night were not as kind with their words to say as such. But you, speak with conviction, pride almost, about the importance of its unimportant. Surely things cannot be so different in Gnaji that it is commonplace there for people to be allowed to pursue whoever they wish" He paused a moment, already regretting what he was about to say next. "Please, forgive me for assuming such things. But it sounds to me like you speak of such matters from the heart, out of experience of such things." It was the most tactile way he could think of asking after Amirs preference. And though he had to admit he admired Amirs looks, and they certainly were something unlike that in Amstra- blond hair and rich bronze skin was rare against the browns and blacks and light tans of summer especially compared to his own paler than normal skin, Amirs personality too was admirable in its plain and simple nature. But the fact he knew and understood so little about the blond boy intrigued him to no end that it seemed almost a drive to learn everything he could.

Skyla was right behind Enyo as they traversed through the forest of Languinre. She was excited to see the fae since she'd never seen them before but at the same time, she couldn't shake the sense of trepidation that shadowed her steps. There was a reason that no one described the fae in the books that they read. Little was known about the fae because they were hard to find but also because they were tricksters. They ensured that those that found them never came back out again or were in a shape that they couldn't reveal their secrets. Or at least, that is what she assumed. There was no other explanation. She hoped that this meeting didn't go awry.

Skyla stopped walking and placed a hand against her forehead to shade her eyes as she peered around them, hoping to find some sort of sign.

"What happens if we cross the entire forest and don't encounter them?"

"I don't know. We'll have t' think o' somethin'," she answered with a sigh. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that. She really didn't want to try and come up with another plan. This one was already a hassle as it was.

"These books say nothing about how to even track them down. If I had their scent, Nyx could track them... But we don't have that either."

"Yeah and I wouldn't be able t' see anythin' from t' sky with Ferringaw." Skyla turned her gaze upward and she tried to peer through the leaves of the trees to gauge how far the sun had gone on its trajectory. They had started this early in the day but they had done quite a bit of traveling. She could only assume that it was going to start getting dark soon; especially the deeper they went into the forest. Before Skyla could mention the idea of finding a place to camp, she a rustle that didn't quite make sense. It hadn't come from either of them and then she heard Enyo falling. She whirled to face her but that action completely failed as she found herself toppling over like a sawed off log. "Whoa!" she cried and hit the ground. Skyla tried to scramble up to her knees and get the vines off of her ankles but the little humanoid creatures were already lacing her body with more vines. In the next instant, she found herself being yanked backwards on the ground, her eyes wide.

Skyla looked around herself frantically and finally saw what was actually tying her down. Indeed they were human like, no bigger than her hand. Their wings fluttered behind them in a dizzying display of colors. They chattered and whispered to each other but she couldn't understand or truly hear what it was they were saying. Some of the creatures spilled from the trees then and flew above them, their heads tilting back and forth in curiosity before zipping away again. Skyla forgot about trying to escape at this point. She was mesmerized at these tiny little things. When one got close, she could see that the human figures were rather beautiful and they all sported corn-shell curved ears that extended against their heads and their little clothing seemed to shift in texture and color and were almost transparent. It was hard to tell if they were actually wearing clothes or not.

Skyla glanced over at Enyo and swallowed hard. "I think we found t' Fae."

Skyla gasped and tensed when she suddenly felt herself moving. She looked around herself wildly and froze when she saw the vines that were wrapped around herself and Enyo had suddenly come to life and were now scurrying across the floor. The vines had lifted them up an inch off of the floor and they were being carried off somewhere. Where were the fae taking them? All the fae that had once been on the ground took to the air and many seemed to vanish with a wink of light. 5 fae remained to escort them to their hive. Or at least Skyla assumed it was their hive.

It was a long trip or at least that is how it seemed with the slow pace of the vines. For a while Skyla just watched the light pass through the leaves above her but soon, silvery white blooms caught her gaze. They had entered an area full of Weeping Willows and little ponds. It was beautiful to watch the scenery change. And just like before, the fae reappeared all around them and the air hummed with their chatter. Despite the situation, Skyla found herself smiling. This place was gorgeous. Skyla twisted in her bonds to try and see everything they passed. They were rising over the water and when she looked down she realized they were going over a bridge made out of the roots of the trees. And the deeper they went, the more she noticed other structures embedded into the plants around them as they mad their way closer to a looming castle. Various mirrors were carved into the walls that they passed and the way the water moved over the stone and trees was surreal. She had never realized that the fae had a castle of their own. She glanced over at Enyo to see what she made out of all of this.

Enyo thrashed and groaned as the Fae made quick work of taking down her and Skyla. But eventually she knew that there was no point. She sighed. Glancing to her left she caught three pairs of yellow eyes, followed by it bearing its fangs and preparing to attack. Nyx would do whatever to protect Enyo and in the beast's eyes it didn't look good for her. But they needed the Fae. They needed them to tell them what they could about the dagger or whatever else. And having a Cerberus that looked at them as a boot looks at an ant... Well that wouldn't get them the answers they needed. So with whatever movement she could muster, she nodded her head towards Nyx in a silent gesture to stand down. If for some reason she was needed a whistle would bring her barreling back.

As the ropes tightened it threatened her newly established grip on the book. Enyo held as tightly as possible but as her arms were pulled to her sides, a few of the Faeries snatched up the book carrying it away over their heads. "Hey give that back!"

One of the little flying creatures moved near her ear and even then she barely could hear them speaking to her. "You will get this back if we let you go." They more moved near either one of Enyo's shoulders taking her swords from their holster on her back. She fought the binds but to no avail.

"I think we found t' Fae."

Enyo startled when she felt herself begin to move. She didn't know how because she could barely move her head to look around. "I think they found us."

She lost track of how long she had been dragged through the forest. It was a slow subtle change then all at once the entire atmosphere that surrounded her changed. Enyo couldn't help but wonder how a kingdom like this in the forest has gone over looked for years, centuries. People knew of the Fae but there was almost nothing on them. No sketches of appearance, map of location, nothing. She was trying to wrap her mind around all of this. At first she didn't pay any mind to half of the things around them until the mirrors caught her attention. Why have mirrors in a forest? She stared into each one as they passed by. At first the image passed too quickly for her to make it out, but then she caught glimpse of a reflection in the mirror. At first she thought it was some grotesque beast but then the more she looked at it and searched for the source of the reflection she grimaced.

Enyo quickly glanced away. She didn't know if they would treat her worse if they knew she had already seen so she tried to play cool as much as possible. But as they carried them towards the castle she got an uneasy feeling in her gut. She looked over to Skyla and whispered, "I have a bad feeling about this."

Dae continued to watched the dagger as he rotated it in his hand and listened to Jilpryis talk about the farm. She spoke of animals he wasn't familiar with. He was far more familiar with deer than little cows and chickens. He had seen them in his travels but never had to deal with them personally. He wondered what it would be like to be surrounded by those animals. It couldn't be too much different than life here in the forest even if the animals themselves weren't the same. It sounded quiet and peaceful. He wouldn't mind seeing what it was like to live on a farm and take care of the land and the animals. And he kind of wanted to see the flowers she was talking about. She brightened the day of the people she passed those flowers to. She seemed like a good person. That was probably why she had been chosen.

"I'm sorry about your friend, the rider before me. Truly I am."

Dae stopped twirling the dagger, its pointed edge towards him, and froze. That statement had come out of nowhere and at first he didn't know what to say. He looked over at her then and put away his weapon. He reached out and gripped her shoulder lightly and squeezed like he would with any brother or sister in arms.

"It is not your fault. Amir, Trytheus, and I should not have made it sound like it was," he sighed. "And you are still her as you are all the other reincarnations before you. But remember, you are also you. I am glad to have you on our team. Don't worry about what the others think. That will mend in time," he answered. As he often did with his sister, he tapped her nose and offered one of his rare little smiles. Then he got up and stretched, popping his back in the process. "I guess we should return," he mused. "Come on."

Dae led Jilpryis back towards the village then. A steady thrum of drums reverberated through them with each step and the smoke from the fire rose through the trees as it sought the open air. With it came the mouth watering aroma of cooking meat on a spit and the slowly roasting vegetables beside it. It certainly made Dae's stomach growl. He hadn't had a good meal in a while. And he did have to count their village lucky considering they could trade easily with Amstra. Without the trade route, they wouldn't have the seasonings that made the food stand out, not to mention some of the vegetable variety. The forest had a plethora of advantages but farm land was not one of them. To farm, they would have to raze the trees and that just wasn't an option. So much rested on the inter-working web the trees created naturally. They rarely cut the trees down when they did need them.

"Before we go down to the center of the village, I need to stop at the house," he informed his companion then. He slipped inside the little house and into his room and rummaged through his things before settling the beaded and feathered headband on his head. He didn't often like to have it on but it was custom to sport it in the gathering. Like most of the painting on his body, the beads were blue, clear, and white and the feathers themselves had been dipped in blue paint. When he was ready, he gave Jil a nod and the two of them headed down to the center of the village.

And there was quite the bustle of activity. The entire village was moving about the center. Some were just finishing with the dusting, brooms sweeping away the clutter of dirt to provide better seating area on the floor. Most were busying themselves with setting up the table that hadn't been there before with various fruits and vegetables as well as finger foods that had been prepared earlier. Around the area were musicians nodding their heads to the beat of the drums and flutes and when they tired, there were plenty of people ready to switch with them. The fire pit was the center of the activity however. A group of villagers were busy checking the roasting stag while others danced by themselves, in pairs or groups.

Aquarian himself was one of the dancers and his eyes were bright with the joy. A group of 4 children were dancing around with him though they were a little more interested in the bubbles and droplets of water he provided for them. Streams of water danced to his whim and the fire reflected off of the droplets sending an array of colors and sunlight almost making the water look like flecks of fire. Aquarian of course was loving the dance and the attention he was getting. The siren was a passionate individual but he was also quite the vain little thing. Especially if someone complimented his scales.

As people saw Dae and Jilpryis, cheers rang out and the drums picked up the pace. As if this wasn't enough of a spectacle, Aquarian wasn't one to miss a beat. Aquarian himself was dancing around the fire, streams of water twirling around him. He manipulated the water with ease. He even used it to spray some of the tribesmen to cool them off which they appreciated considering the roaring flame.

Then there was a flurry of motion as those checking on the deer hoisted it up, stick and all, and set it on a platter of its own. Dae then moved over to it and began cutting the slices for everyone, including a slice for Jilpryis, as was his honor. People crowded around him as he passed out the food and for a moment, the siren rider was overwhelmed by the attention of greetings, well wishing and plates passing by. When everyone had their food, Dae set his own plate. Dae then motioned for Jilpryis to follow him over to a slightly elevated perch and sat down. Aquarian was already sitting and he gave a little wave at Jilpryis. Dae's mother and sister were sitting just off to the side, closer to the rest of the circle of villagers that to the two riders.

Since people were far more occupied with their eating, most of the musicians left their instruments to eat and switch once they were full. There would always be a steady beat of music though it had lowered to more of a hum. Everyone was laughing and smiling and Dae found himself grinning. He did so love his people and he was happy to be among them again. It was right to be here. And then tomorrow, he and Jilpryiswould have to set out to find this mythical creature he'd never heard of. He would have to ask the tribe if they knew anything. It would be a good place to start.

Dae turned to Jilpryis then. "Where is your beast? I am sure he is hungry to, isn't he?"

Jilpryis almost regretted what she had said upon seeing the way his body froze in reaction, and for a moment he remained silent. Then he began to reassure her that things weren't as bad as they seemed, and that it was just a complicated situation to have been thrown into. This calmed her mind slightly, though she still couldn't help but feel badly for bringing it up in the first place.

Before long, Dae suggested they head back to join the feast. This finally brought her attention to how hungry she was, and she quickly followed. As she trailed behind Dae on their way to his home, one last stop before the festivities, she let her gaze wander as she had before on the marvelous exotic landscape, her mind adrift with the thoughts of the food to come.

While she waited for Dae outside, she could hear the sound of drums in the distance, not too far off. It made a feeling within her roil to the surface, a need to move, a sudden burst of energy. She rocked back and forth on her heels, drumming the surface of a wooden railing impatiently.

When Dae stepped back outside, he sported a fancy head piece that made her smile. "Interesting head wear, but I think it suits you. Come on, I don't want to miss much more." She gripped on to his hand suddenly, pulling him forward as she sped up to a jog. She made her way through the landscape, admittedly not knowing entirely where she was going, but she could hear the music getting louder, the energy in the air getting more profound, and occasionally the site of another villager headed in the same direction.

By the time they had arrived, the scene was quite a spectacle. Dozens of people busied themselves with tending the food, fire and other goings on of the festivities, while others, including Aquarian, danced around a large fire to the rhythm of the drums. Her eyes darted back and forth trying to take in the entire thing, frantically holding on to every detail. The energy in the air was unlike anything she'd ever felt. So pure, vibrant and expressive. She hardly noticed how tightly she had began to grip Dae's hand, until she felt her own fingers getting sore, and quickly released him from her grasp.

She couldn't help but blush, chuckling softly. "I'm sorry. Everything is just so..alive! Is it always like this?" Before Dae had a chance to respond, the mass had noticed their arrival, and everything began to get much louder. Any response would have been drowned out in the sea of drum beats and chants. She stuck close to Dae as they made their way to the center of the feast, where a large table was being prepared with a freshly cooked dear. She was suddenly grateful for the noise, because she could feel how loudly her stomach was growling, had it been quiet enough for anyone to hear, she would have been slightly embarrassed.

As Dae began to cut into the beast, the noise seemed to start dying down, and a familiar presence grazed her mind. It was Barnabus, it took a moment for his voice to come through, but she heard, "I am close by, it seems I have returned just in time. I won't be long now. My wings are well stretched, I am ready for a meal and rest." She was glad to hear her partner again, to know he had arrived safely. Slowly, from her core, she could begin to feel his energy as he got closer. Her thoughts were pulled back to the feast as Dae handed her a plate. She took it, offering a genuine smile and a low bow of her head.

Soon after, everyone had received their food and began to disperse to various locations to sit with friends and family. Dae motioned for her to follow him, and they sat together on the slightly elevated patch he had picked out. Aquarian nodded his greeting as they sat down. "I wish I could clean up as well as you Aquarian. I can't imagine how much jewelry I'd need to get that shine. I was sad I hadn't arrived sooner to see more."

The air was calm and tranquil, everyone was focused on their meal and their was still a smooth sound of drums seeping through the mass as people took shifts between playing and eating. When Dae inquired about Barnabus, almost on cue, the beat of his wings sounded in the distance, and he emerged from a clearing, his massive wings tucking into his sides as he trotted to a basket set aside for him filled with apples and carrots and other things of that nature. He grazed happily as he rested his wings, remaining silent while the others enjoyed their food. The way Dae was smiling made her smile, and she tried to recall other times she had been this happy.

“Don’t. You couldn't have known, doubtless some would not consider it kidnap when the Order of the Forge comes to take you to learn at the heels of the king. No matter how unwilling you are to leave.” Amir felt the tension in his gut ebb slightly as Mordred assured him that he held no will will towards him because of the question. The statement did have him cocking his head to the side slightly in confusion, curious to what he could mean by it, but the boy didn’t push the subject further. There was no need to test the waters any farther then he already had, least he oversteps his boundaries once again.

Happy, he turned his attention to the meat pie that say before him. The smell was decadent, the steam rising from the filling had him drooling and he didn’t hesitate to start his decimation of the meal. As Mordred started speaking again Amir didn’t stop eating, but he did take the time to look up between bites to acknowledge he was listening. He felt himself raise an eyebrow as Mor questioned the differences in their cultures, and even Amir’s own preferences. He shoveled the last bite of the food into his mouth before he sat back, chewing in contemplation of the questions and how to answer them.

“So, this your round-a-bout way of asking if you have a chance of getting in my pants?” The boy gave a light, humorful laugh before continuing, “If you must know, I don’t have a preference, I’ll go to bed with anyone I fucking please, man or woman. That’s not the reason I’m was so adamant, it’s mostly Try… He is such a loud-mouth about being a good person or what not, but he personally saw to driving you into that self-hatred.” He sighed in frustration dipping his head for a moment and rubbing his temples in frustration.

“And your preference for men, it is unimportant. Gnaji as a region is the polar fucking opposite of Amstra. This region is large, but it is one central culture as a whole. Gnaji Town is one of two population hubs, but the permanent population is only around 2,000. The rest is the nomadic tribes and clans and Gnaji hosts hundreds, maybe even fucking thousands of unique cultures each with their own rules and customs. Many don’t condemn homosexuality, but uplift it, sometimes worship it. The same goes for tribes that honor those who believe they were born the wrong gender, and give them special titles and roles within a community. So, actually, yes, homosexuality is commonplace. Gnaji is absolutely different from Amstra socially and economically, you’d surprised. I think all the regions are though.”

Amir thought back to his time in Gnaji Town, he was a figure head as well as their strongest military force. His teachers had only focused on the skills they were supposed to be teaching, his social life and habits were never condemned or questioned. As long as he continued to go and manage The Cape properly he’d be allowed to do as he pleased. Which he had, and as customary of the Phoenix Rider when he turned ten he went into The Cape for the first time and took down a crime ring. Sure it might have been a lower level, small-time gang of thugs, but it had been the start of actually being the Phoenix Rider rather than just holding the name. It might have been a memory of battle, but image of Hassan healing him for the first time had the boy taking on a look of nostalgia, a soft smile on his lips.

"So, this your round-a-bout way of asking if you have a chance of getting in my pants?" Mordred tried a stammer out a denial but it was as though he mouth was gummed up and the words caught in his throat. That hadn't been his intention at all, surely Amir didn't think that was his entire intentions in the here and now surely? Had he soured it all with one stupid question? And yet, he almost missed noticing it, that Amir didn't say either way if Mordred did in indeed have any chance for anything. Was Amir playing with him? Trying to flounder him in some fashion?

It was his turn to eat now though as Amir talked. Unlike Amir who had simply torn through the entire pastry, Mordred held it at thickened crust around the curve and made very sure not to eat any of it, not that isn't bad or anything it was simply an odd tradition that the people tended to follow when eating such things. Hearing that Amir bedded both man and woman intrigued him, especially considering he seemed to do so of his own desires. Naturally there were men like himself who were forced to marry and father children but they never did so of their volition. It was a fascinating thought that Amirs simpler nature also affected his sexual life at that. But was he right about Trytheus? Had he drawn him down a path of self hatred? It was true that he was one of the more prominent figures in decrying him but he certainly wasn't the only one. Though perhaps he was right somewhere there, after all Trytheus was supposed to be the embodiment of justice and yet was angered when something that did not fall into his view of justice but was not in the realm of injustice sprung into view.

He listened intently to Amir talk about some of the culture in Gnaji. It seemed mind boggling that such a prominent population centre could only house such a small number of people. Even the smallest city in Amstra far exceeded that number. It was starting to put into perspective why exactly Amstra was called the kingdom of man, and he had to wonder just how many people lived outside of the kingdoms borders. It was certainly a frightening thought that so many could live in so small a land compared to how much was out there in the wider word.

Mordreds eyes widened when he heard that those like him were not just accepted, and could be considered commonplace but in places were revered by those around them. All his life this thing that had contributed to his being an outcast could have been the reverse in another place all together. To think, that in another life his skin could have been a rich tan instead of pale as milk. His clothing could have been loose robes of white instead of thick clothes and black. He could have been free to feel the touch of anothers skin against his, the warmth of another flesh under his hand without it being a secret and a hurried disgrace in the shadows. He could have been happy.

"I wish I could have born there." He admitted softly. He realised that whatever had caused his mouth to jam shut as it awkwardly tried to excuse itself had for the moment passed he knew he had to take the initiative before it returned. "I wasn't just trying to find out if I could bed you... I mean..." His eyes fell back down to where his hand rested on the side of the table, now that he had finished eating. He couldn't find the right words to express what he wanted to say without seeming a fool about it. His attention was drawn to the outside as he tried to say what was on his mind. "I did not want to cause any offence. It would be inappropriate of me to try to pursue a Rider anyway, we mortals are not meant for such things. It's just that..." He paused before looking back at Amir, back into those brown eyes that seemed so caring yet tried so very hard to hide it away, even from themselves. "You seem a better sort than many in this city. And I would very much like not to lose that."

At last, the fae stopped moving their prey and settled both women down on top of a large dais. A small table that doubled as an altar rested not far from them and light danced on the black marble as if it to were held captive here; searching for a crack in the stone to escape. Beyond the table were stairs that leaded up to a throne made of the same eerie black slab as the table with inky tendrils reaching outward like branches. A figure was seated there but in their position, Skyla and Enyo would not be able to see who exactly resided there. Skyla tried to crane her neck to see better but the throne was far too high for her to see.

She was made aware of soft footsteps however as someone or something began to descend down those steps. The echo was soft, almost as if the feet never truly pressed on the ground. The rustle of cloth was indicative that whoever was coming forward wore long robes that made more noise upon the ground than did his feet. The riders were then introduced to a loud scratching noise as the figure dragged a claw over the table.

"Well, well, look who we have here," came a soft masculine voice. The timber was musical and sent a shiver through Skyla though there was an edge to the voice that demanded attention. It was strange how such a gentle voice could be sharper than a blade. "But oh, where are our manners? You are our guests and here we have you on the ground! I will remedy that right away." With a flourish of robes, both Enyo and Skyla were righted so that they were standing up but the vines never fell away. At least the two riders could now see who it was they were talking to.

There before them stood a fae as large as any human with hair as dark as ink cascading down his form in a waterfall. His equally dark robes were etched with green vines and a silver trimming around his collar and wrists. His skin was pale as moon beams making him almost ethereal thanks to the stark contrast of his dark wardrobe. Corn-shell shaped ears poked through his hair and extended back behind his head. Following that arch, Skyla saw the large navy blue wings behind him. All in all, he was an imposing figure. She never thought that fey could be the full size of a human. The fairy was giving the two of them a bright smile but it did not reach his smoldering dark eyes. Skyla took note of the large black crown embedded with obsidian and rubies.

"Well, if it isn't the Cerberus Rider and the Dragon Rider!" the fairy laughed as he began to circle the two of them, his gaze wandering over them. "You've changed your shell again but you have come to visit with me so soon! Although last time, you didn't really come and see me, now did you?" he said with a mock pout. "You two just came into our forest and took the fae wood with you and ran away. Not even a hello from you or a 'can we take some wood'." he said as he finished his circuit around the two and stood in front of them. "Did you think I'd let you wander in here and take what you pleased again? Things come for a price after all."

Skyla frowned as she watched the fairy. What the hell was he talking about? "We have never been here," Skyla answered then. "We would not just take someth-"

"Do not proceed to lie to me, Dragon Rider. You were just here not too long ago with the Cerberus Rider and you took the wood."

Crap he had to be talking about the other two people that they had replaced. How were they going to explain this to the fae? "It was t' previous riders. We be not them."

The fairy looked between them and frowned. "I am well aware of your immortality and your shifting shell. You retain your memories."

"We did not this time," Skyla insisted. "I be sorry about what they must have done but we came here lookin' for you. We had somethin' we were lookin' for and wanted t' ask you personally."

"You came here to see me? And maybe I could help you but maybe not." he grinned, a mischevious glint entering his eyes and playful smiling tugging at the corner of his lips. "But what would I get in return?" he asked, his eyes now settling on Enyo and the book she was still trying to hide against her body. "What is it that you seek from me?"

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Sorry for the delay guys! I should be posting with Skyla today.

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Hello my fine friends and authors! Because there is such an unbalance in posting speeds per the groups I will implementing the six round posting order once again. This is to keep the flow of story even and for everyone not to be overwhelmed by story advancement. Without further ado here is the posting order by character name:

Amir
Trytheus
Skyla
Enyo
Dae
Jilpryis

I look forward to seeing all your stories unfold!

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

@umademeink96 @Scar.- You guys might as well go ahead and post. I figure I don't have much to be posted about now that all the riders have arrived other than sit down at the table. Sooo~ I will pick up in the next round when we split off into groups, so Meg & May can get their explanation done and whatnot. ^^

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Alright everyone, now that the dragon rider has arrived the introduction arc will be coming to a close, and the pair missions will be starting. I can create new locations as needed, so just let me know what places in Mundus you need and I'll put up the locations so they can be posted in!

Thank you all so much for being so active these past couple of days, it has made for an incredibly exciting dynamic and development between all our characters!

-Uma

Edit// After my next Amir post everyone can break off, no one will be required to post again in the the house of wonders and can move to their new locations, though you can if you feel you should

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Ok all, do not be alarmed, after inquiring with Sirius Baren, our Dragon Rider, I have continued on with the role-play despite them not having a finished character yet. Sirius is still in our role-play, but will not be able to post or finished Niamh for a few days, so I have elected to keep the posting cycle going. Once they finish Niamh Sirius will be free to enter the posting cycle as soon as they have the time to do it.

I look forward to roleplaying wth everyone soon!!

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Posted twice, sorry! The first one didn't have the right location, so I fixed it and edited the first post to have nothing, and marked it as such. ^^

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Hello everyone! I have officially heard from all of our authors so I am going to post some ideas for the side adventures our four riders will have. What I'm posting below are only vague overviews of them and if that side plot gets choose I will be sending PM's with more details and key points to bring out. If nothing appeals please let me know and I'll try and think up more solutions for us! But here's wha I have for now!

1. Front and Centaur - Huitzilopochtli has retreated into the unclaimed territory to feed off the energy of the monsters there to regain its strength. The unclaimed Territory is unspeakably dangerous in order to get to the monster the riders must gain the trust of the Centaur leader so that the herd will grant them safe passage, protection, and act as a guide.

2. All that Glitter ain't Gold - Huitzilopochtli is not only massive, but also has huge magical potential. The riders must find a way to negate its magical abilities if they will be able to stand even the slightest chance. Two of the riders must find the legendary artifact Oberon's Dagger which has the power to temporarily seal the magic of any being, no matter how powerful, until the wound caused by the dagger heals. The dagger is said to be apart of infamous pirate Max's* hidden treasure said to be located somewhere on an island west of Sui Generis.
*Pirate name subject to change
-Enyo Custos (Cerberus Rider)

3. I wanna Hypno-potamus for Christmas - You can't kill a being this ancient with human strength alone, you can only stall it. Deep in the jungle of Sui Generis lurks a monster said to have the strongest hypnosis in the world. Her name is Kaa, a massive snake who's age may just as well rival that of Huitzilopochtli. Two riders must seek her out, convince her to aid in deterring Huitzilopochtli. Tame the beast so to speak.
-Dae Valen (Siren Rider)
-Jilpryis Isaara (Pegasus Rider)

So this is what I got, please let me know what everyone thinks. If these three are good then hopefully one or two will be chosen, and then once finished the remaining can also be played out.

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

Personally I think dividing up the two groups is a good thing story wise, because that way we get to see a bit more of the world and learn more about the new characters. Besides that it would also speed up posting if we have two separate cycles going on at the same time. It's easier to wait for one person than for five after all.

That's just my two bits at least.

Re: Mundus alter || Remake

HELLO authors of Mundus alter! Some of you are new, some are old friends, but nevertheless I am excited to be bringing back a role-play that I absolutely adore! I am making an OOC post to address everything that I currently have planned for us and also the fact that I have the first post of the role-play up already.

I first want to say that as of now no one should feel rushed or panicked to finish a character sheet or write a post since we literally just started, I just wanted to get the post up because I believe the Meg & May section is a good introduction to what I want this remake to be driven by: The return of Huitzilopochtli!

For our new authors, since I had made the decision not to completely restart and continue down the same general path the original role-play was going I had to come up with a way to allow your new characters to be new riders without having to do a twenty year time hop for them to grow up. I decided that with the return of Huitzilopochtli that three of the rider souls were ripped out of their vessels and forced into new ones during the chaos of the earthquake. Voila, your characters are riders!

So we'll be starting the role-play at Meg & May's House of Wonders. I would like to take this moment and say I am crazy ornery about location posting and would love it to death if everyone would be careful when posting a response in the correct location. I find the easiest way to ensure this is instead of going to the POST tab at the top of the role-play, go to the PLACES tab and click the location you wish to post in.

Also, about posting, as you can see by my first post, I write a lot. I don't want anyone to think that I except the same standard of response length because I know a lot of people have lives to live and I do not have a life so I can produce giant posts like that one. I want everyone to know that I am much more concerned with quality rather than quantity and would be much more happy if you got your responses out in a timely fashion that managed to address the key points in our other authors posts rather than massive bodies of text with no real substance to them.

I would also like to address a plot point that does not have to be included on the CS. With the return of Huitzilopochtli each of the riders has forged some sort of connection with the monster. For my character Amir he can hear the beast's heartbeat, Trytheus is connected to the monster's dreams, and Dae can feel its emotions. All the riders have some sort of subtle connection, but if you need help coming up with one let me know and I'd be happy to help!

Finally, I think this the last point I need to address, if I think of more I'll add an EDIT// to this post with more. During the last role-play Claw had a sub-plot arc based around Amstra and Trytheus that we were supposed to do, but the role-play ended up dying and it got discarded. Claw has waited a little over three months to do this arc so after introductions I will be sending Amir and Trytheus to Amstra to do that and will be creating a really epic and well-thoughtout adventure for everyone else, but I would like some opinions on how I go about it. Should there only be one subplot where the remaining four riders adventure together? Or should I break it up into two epic adventures that way the role-play turns into 3 1x1s temporarily before everyone meets back up to continue the main plot? Let me know everyone's preferences and I'll start making the adventures for you!

I am SO excited to role-play with everyone!
-Uma
