Huitzilopochtli has awoken. That simple sentence alone sent a shiver down the Siren Rider's back as he took his seat which Aquarian had vacated. The earthquake... the emotions... all of that was Huitzilopochtli doing. He was back and those emotions that weren't his own were his. It was very unnerving. Dae touched his chest and swallowed hard. They needed to find a way to put Huitzilopochtli back to sleep. He glanced at the Pegasus Rider who would accompany him back to Sui Generis where they had to find this creature whose age rivaled Huitzilopochtli. He had never heard of a creature like this. At least not from his clan. Maybe one of the other clans knew what they were looking for. She was deep in he forest, the sisters admonished but nothing more. This was going to be like trying to find a a Chimera hair in the fields of grass. They'd have to find her. There was no other way. When the sisters were done instructing them and they were released, Dae gave a nod of respect to everyone and motioned for Jilpryis to follow him out of the house. It was time to get to work. Aquarian followed without missing a beat even though he did look back to wiggle his fingers in good bye at Amir who thus far, was the only other rider besides Dae that had fun responses and paid attention to him.

"We will be traveling to Sui Generis via ship. We'll get there in about a week or so. Maybe a little longer." Dae explained. He hoped they weren't deterred on their way. The sea could be a dangerous place after all. Thankfully, the little team made their journey with little event. Dae was far calmer now that he knew the source of the other emotions and didn't let them overcome him. He wouldn't give Huitzilopochtli the satisfaction of knowing he could overwhelm him and make him lose his rationality. But now that he was calm, he was also much quieter. Aquarian had to do most of the bantering and of course, he flirted with the other rider and the other shipmates under Dae's command. They were used to the siren's antics however so there wasn't much cause for concern.

When they did finally near the cost of Sui Generis, a week and a half later, Dae's heart skipped a beat. Home. He loved his home so much and it was honestly a relief to be back. He sported a darker tan now thanks to the unforgiving rays of the sun on their journey. The young rider sported the markings and tiara made of differently colored beads and feathers once more. Wearing the markings did make him feel more at home and comfortable in his skin again. He didn't have to be so self conscious of his appearance. He was the siren rider. That meant he was attractive and his life style made sure he kept up his lithe muscles and he was in top form. He just didn't like people staring at him and judging him based on it as he was sure Trytheus had been doing silent and Amir had done blatantly. Regardless, he was feeling much more confident and self assured now that he was home.

What surprised him most was that Jilpryis had decided to adopt their style since it was much more comfortable in the humid heat of the forest region. Dae didn't have any female clothing aboard the ship so she ended up wearing one of his longer pants tied with a rope so it wouldn't fall off her smaller waist and he had helped her fashion her original shirt into a makeshift bra. Dae and Aquarian had adorned her hair with feathers and extra beads that he had and Dae even applied the blue and white markings of his tribe. He did vary the design to represent the Pegasus rather than the siren and accented some of the markings in black so the others would know her for what she was. Though all the tribes generally viewed everyone on the same level, some honors were only provided to the riders. Dae gave a nod of approval when he was done working on her markings.

"You look good," Dae said then before he got off his stool and turned to the mirror himself to finish applying the black marks on his eyes and dragged the paint down his face to mimic the look of a cheetah's tears once more.

Aquarian chuckled at his rider as he moved past him to circle around Jilpryis. "Just good, Dae? I think she looks amazing," he purred and walked two of his fingers over her shoulders. "The tribal looks suits you well."

"What is it with you and trying to get into bed with all of the riders?" Dae grumbled then.

"What's wrong with it? We are young. These bodies will expire. You are all fun to play with. You should try it sometime." Aquarian chuckled. "I saw you blush when Amir complimented you."

"Damn it, Aquarian!" he growled and glanced at the siren who was now draped over Jilpryis's shoulders. This was not how he wanted Jilpryis to see him. He wanted to make up for the childish behavior he had displayed upon their first meeting. Aquarian just laughed. "Did you finish applying the beads and feathers in Barnabus's main and tail?"

"Yeah, yeah. Everyone is ready."

Dae gave a nod and looked over at Jilpryis, a small blush touching his cheeks before he turned away. She did look good with the markings on her body. He kind of liked how she looked in the pants to. She shook his head. It was time to focus again. He left the captains quarters where the make up session had just taken place and inhaled deeply. Ah, the salty smell of the ocean air. It really was the best place to be. He took over the wheel again from his second mate and couldn't wipe the smile on his face as they finally made harbor. "We are home!" His crew gave a cry of joy as well as they began the flurry of activity as they prepared to leave the ship. Various other ships also rested on the gentle waves but Dae's truly was the largest and most elaborate considering Dae had often sat carving away at the boat when he needed to be alone with his thoughts or get away from the burden for a while. Crafting the vessel had been something he had really thrown his heart into and in a way it was his baby even though everyone on-board had helped him finish the ship. He still added things here and there when he had a chance.

Dae pulled himself out of his day dream and easily made his way onto land. He would have thrown himself onto the short beach and rolled in the sand and then run through the forest like a true wildthing but again, he didn't want to give Jilpryis the wrong impression of her fellow rider. Besides, he hadn't been gone that long. Last time he had dove into the water at first sight of shore and swam to his homeland in his excitement that he had lived through the events and managed to get home again. There was no better feeling than being home.

Dae looked back when he heard Jilpryis coming after him. "We will reach my village in two hours," he explained.

At last, their traveling came to an end. He gave a whistle and those closest that heard turned to see who was calling out a greeting. Upon seeing their rider return along with the other crew, an uproar erupted with squeals of relief and excitement which alerted everyone else. It wasn't long before the whole village swarmed around them in greeting and bowing towards both Dae and Jilpryis, awe in their eyes. They'd never seen another rider beside Dae and that meant they'd never seen a Pegasus either. They were very curious and excited to see another rider. And within seconds, it was decided that a festival would be held for the quick return of their own rider and to welcome Jilpryis among them. Not even Dae could stop that from occurring, not that he wanted to. Dae was wearing the brightest smile he had worn yet in the presence of any of the riders as he hugged and touched his people in greeting.

"Ravi! Ravi! Ravi Dae!" came the voice of a little girl. Dae looked around trying to locate the voice but the owner of said voice had her own greeting planned out. From a tree above, the little girl who couldn't be more that 6, leaped towards Dae. Dae had thankfully turned in time to see the child falling towards him. His eyes widened and he extended his arms outward to catch the bundle of energy. Her momentum almost knocked Dae over. It did make him stumble but the girl didn't seem to care. She hugged Dae tightly and nuzzled her head against his chin. "Dae! Al vai'ben! {Welcome home}"

Dae grinned and hugged the girl tightly and twirled them both around. "Arai, it is good to see you," he answered her softly and kissed her head. The little girl had hair as gold as corn; just like Dae himself. Her eyes were a startling green and she refused to be put down. Her little fingers and arms held on like a vice. "Arai, this is another rider. Her name is Jipryis and the Pegasus beside her is Barnabus. Jilpryis, this is my sister Arai," Dae introduced then. Arai gave a nod to the other rider but refused to let go of her older brother. She was very attached to her sibling and hated it whenever he had to go away regardless of how long it had been. Last time he had come back injured.

"Dae," cam another voice and Dae beamed as an older woman approached. She was also blond but silver had replaced most of the gold. Her kind eyes looked her son up and down to make sure he was healthy and Dae moved forward to hug her tightly while he continued to hold his sister. "Momo," he called to her. She kissed his cheek before she pulled out of his arms and patted his cheek before she looked behind him to see Jilpryis standing off to the side. Her eyes brightened as she moved forward to greet the stranger.

Dae's mother raised her right hand to cross against her chest before giving her a bow. "Eta ari'vai neh, corai Pegai et Raeis. It is an honor to welcome you, friend, Pegasus Protector," she translated. "It is good to meet one of the other riders and companions my son travels with. You will find a friend in all who reside here, Rider. I am Lele when Dae is not here and his momo. I would be honored to have you complete your stay with us in our humble home. You may call me Momo or Cari. What is your name my dear?" she asked then.

The week and a half long trip gave Jilpryis a lot of time to mull things over. She spent most of her time with her eyes cast out among the waves, a trance like stare reflecting the glimmering surface of the water. Occasionally she would try to keep an eye on Aquarian, to study his movements and swimming patterns. It was easy save for when he dove beneath the surface, which was frequently.

Her most common thoughts were of the beast that the twins had told them about that had awoken from it's slumber. Hutzilopochtli. This ancient being had risen and now was the cause of all their bizarre feelings. If something wasn't done the world as they knew it would surely be plunged into chaos. More and more she came to realize what her task was meant to be, what she had been chosen for. She couldn't comprehend it. How her, at one point no more than a farmer's daughter, was setting out on a quest for an ancient creature that would help them save the world from slipping into darkness. A daunting thought indeed.

Several days into the journey, her dress began to get a bit uncomfortable with all the spray from the waves, and constant need to be dried. Dae seemed to notice this, because he offered her some more suitable clothing for their sea voyage. She donned the same leg wear as he did, which was a little loose, so they used a portion of her dress to fashion a belt, the rest they rolled tightly into sort of strapless bra, the tattered lining reaching a couple inches below her chest, keeping her concealed but offering a cooling exposure to her torso.

She had inquired about the markings that covered Dae and Aquarian, and upon learning they were customary among their tribe, she insisted that her body be painted as well. She wanted to give off the impression that she was open to the customs of her fellow riders, hoping to ease the uncertainty that lingered among them. They were happy to do so, Aquarian seemed a bit more eager considering the flirtatious behavior he had displayed the length of the trip. More than once she felt his touch lingering while they painted the markings. When they added the finishing touches of beads and feathers to her hair, they set to work on Barnabus, which turned out to more amusing then she anticipated. They both had begun to look like they belonged, and that was a pleasant feeling for Jilpryis.

Finally their time at sea had come to an end, and not a moment too soon. Though it hadn't bothered her, she was starting to get more and more eager the closer they got. By the time they had landed ashore, they were making preparations to depart and begin the rest of their journey on foot. Dae had commented on her appearance, and Aquarian one upped him, draping himself around her shoulders and offering a more sugar coated comment. She couldn't help but blush, especially as Dae scolded him for trying to bed the other riders. She giggled slightly. "I'm just glad I'm up to someone's expectations." She said, playfully prodding Dae in the chest.

Once they were on land, they were greeted with many happy faces, greetings, and curious stares. Dae immediately seemed to be overwhelmed with a more cheerful and relaxed demeanor. She was glad for this. Though their journey wasn't over, at least nobody was in low spirits any more. Things were starting to look up.

Several more hours into their journey, they had reached their destination at last. The crowd that greeted them was much more excited than the last, by the time their enthusiastic greetings had concluded, they had declared a feast was to be had in celebration of their arrival. Jilpryis felt so welcome that she almost started crying, steadying herself on Barnabus as they made their way through the throng of benevolent villagers.

Dae introduced her to his sister and mother. Both of them took kindly to her, welcoming her to their home with open arms. She was surprised how willing they were to treat her like one of their own, it seemed the polar opposite of her meeting with the other riders.

"I am Jilpryis, and my partner is Barnabus. It is so nice to meet the both of you. Your hospitality and greetings are too kind. I'm looking forward to spending time among you." She bowed slightly to Dae's mother, offering her respect.

"Oh how polite you are!" Cari beamed. "It will be an honor to have you and your beast Barnabus with us. We've never had any of the other riders here before. Well, at least not in my life time," she chuckled. "I trust my son treated you well on your journey?"

"Yes, Mom." Dae answered. He let his sister down when she wiggled. As soon as she was on the ground, she hurried toward Aquarian.

"Uncle Aquarian! Uncle Aquarian!" she called. Dae still wondered to this day why she called Aquarian 'uncle'. Aquarian beamed at the little one and hoisted her up into his arms to give her a great big hug before he rested her on his hip. He went cross eyed and sucked in his cheeks and moved his lips in a kissing fashion to make a silly fish face for her. She immediately laughed at Aquarian. Aquarian smiled, having to give up the face. He inhaled deeply before he let out a stream of bubbles around the little girl. She squealed in delight as she tried to catch the bubbles that were produced for her.

Dae smiled before he brought his attention back to his mother and Jilpryis. "Do you and the others require assistance for the feast?"

"No, baby. We saw your ship on the horizon so most everything is prepared. we are just cooking it now. You show our guest where she will be sleeping and tour her around a bit. We've got everything under control." His mother patted his cheek softly before she leaned forward to kiss his forehead. She headed towards the center of the village then.

Dae looked back at Aquarian then. "Watch over them, te?"

"Of course." Then a sly grin appeared on his face even as Arai patted his cheek asking for more bubbles, "I see what you are doing. Some alone time with Jilpryis, hm? I'll make sure no one bothers you for a while."

Dae's eyes widened and a vibrant flush reached his cheeks as he whirled on Aquarian. "Aquarian!" If he wasn't holding Arai, Dae would have thrown something at the cackling siren.

"Your blush was worth it ~" he sang then as he hurried away with the child and indeed, left Dae alone with Jilpryis and Barnabus.

Dae sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He looked over at Jilpryis through his bangs, and offered a shaky smile. "Sorry about that," he said softly. He cleared his throat to get himself centered again and motioned for her to follow him.

The village was rather large and though there were trees everywhere, they weren't in the way. The villagers had found a way to maneuver around the plant life so it wouldn't be too disturbed. They did cut down some of the trees in the center of the village to create a flat area for cooking but everything they killed was used. The trees they cut down crafted the labyrinth of tree houses and the stairs were often carved into the standing trees themselves if the bark was large enough. All of the houses above them were connected by sturdy bridges. The bridges and houses went in a circle around the center and continued outward like a spiderweb. Each house and bridge was testament to Sui Generis's craftsmanship. They were excellent architects and wood workers. As was the style, it was elaborate and sophisticated considering they were living in a forest without most modern commodities such as running water. In place of standard pluming, they had a water pulley system. It was so hidden away among the trees that visitors wouldn't even be able to see the various vines and strings that connected it. When the right strings were pulled, water was drawn up from the irrigation system they created from the lake just outside the village.

Around the center of the village also stood various totems. The totems started here at the center but they continued through the forest into each of the territories of the other clans. Through these large statues they told their history and stories. The particular totems in their village started the story of the first siren rider. Dae reached out and caressed the totem carved with various waves and seashells. At its center was the Heart Pearl that the first version of Aquarian had given to the first rider. This totem was beside his house and he had a habit of caressing the carvings when he passed in homage. There was no better place to be.

"It may not look like much here, but we make do with what we have. I am sure it is very different from the cities," he mused to Jilpryis. "I am sure it will take some getting use to since our customs are different but... bear with us. Thank you by the way. For being willing to take part," he explained and motioned to the markings and dress. He started to walk up the stairs to his home then. "This is where my family and I live. We have a spare place for guests to sleep. We... we don't have a whole lot of privacy," he warned then. "We share everything with everyone so please don't be alarmed if you find someone suddenly in the house grabbing things. And... umm. Again there isn't much privacy. We don't have many walls or curtains or anything so... you...well.." dang it now he was going pink in the face again. These things were natural here but he was sure someone born in a city would find these things outrageous and appalling. He really didn't like him or his people being judged. "We aren't shy when it comes to our bodies. When you dress, undress, people may see you. We bathe together as well. Even the bathroom isn't all that safe," he sighed and rubbed the back of his head feeling a little uncomfortable

He cleared his throat and actually entered the house. They had a large main room with cushioned seats where they normally took their family meals. The room also doubled as a kitchen so they had herbs hanging from the ceiling and a cold box in the corner where they kept their food cold. Hand crafted cabinets also decorated the room where their plates and other dishes resided. It was easy to see where a door led out to a bridge for anyone to use and enter. Dae led her to the left which opened up to reveal 3 rooms. One was slightly larger and was his mother's room. The second was the room he shared with his sister and lastly, there was a bare room. Their beds were bed rolls and thick quilts so even a nice heavy bed was a luxury hey didn't have. Dae went to one of their cupboards and pulled out clean pillows and a quilt to set in her room which didn't have a door; none of the rooms did. "Here," he said then as he set everything down in the spare room. He folded everything out to make it look a little homier. He got up then and rested his hands on his hips. "Did you need anything?" he asked her then.

Their way of life was something she would have to get used to, but the architecture and ways they had found to coexist with the land were something to be marveled at. She had almost tuned out during the introductions when she heard Aquarian make a joke about Dae wanting to spend some alone time with her. Immediately she flushed red, and couldn't help but look the other way. Even though she knew it was just Aquarian being himself, it caught her off guard. Amidst the elation that emanated from the crowd, her emotions seemed to be in overdrive, like a natural high. She made the same effort to clear her throat as Dae uttered an apology, and shuffled along the path to where she would be staying.

Luckily, few words were exchanged during the walk, for she probably wouldn't have been paying full attention anyhow. She was too busy staring at all the feats of architecture displayed throughout the village. Everything they had done had been carved with such detail, a labor of love that had surely taken much longer than it would have had they been in a rush to get a roof over their heads.

The totems bore even more detail, something she hardly thought possible. Just before they arrived at his home, Dae began to speak as if his home wasn't much to look at, and that she should be prepared to put up with a lot more than an overzealous greeting. He eyed her for a moment, thanking her for her willingness to participate in his customs. "Your home is different from the cities, this is true, but in no way inferior. The ways you've found to coexist with the nature is remarkable to say the least, and the wood craft is something even Trytheus would have to admire." She offered a warm smile at his gratitude, finding it hardly necessary. "I'm honored to have the opportunity to do so." She bowed her head slightly. Barnabus snorted then, as to get their attention. He spoke, his voice ringing in both their minds. "I could not agree more with Jilpryis, but for now I must depart. I have not stretched my wings properly since before the boat, and I yearn to do so. I shall return in time for the feast, and not stray too far. Many thanks for opening your arms to Jilpryis as the others were not so ready to do, Dae. I am grateful for your maturity."

With that, he backed a few paces so he would have enough room to take off, and with several powerful strokes of his wings, began his ascent above the canopy. With a whinny, he shifted his mass and began to move out of their site, his elegant wings carrying him away. She watched for a moment, but focused her attention back on Dae when he spoke. He got a bit flustered trying to explain his tribes lack of privacy, to the point where he trailed off, unable to find the right words. She couldn't help but laugh. "What's the matter? Afraid you'll see something you like? The others didn't really give me a chance to explain my past but I came from a farm family of three older brothers, privacy isn't something I've ever had the luxury of experiencing, save for my time with Barnabus. If it's customary among your people then I would only draw more attention by going extra lengths to seek privacy, or sneaking off to try and bathe alone. So long as Aquarian isn't asking to scrub my back, I think I'll get along just fine. Like I said, I'm honored you've welcomed me the way you have, I was beginning to think I'd be spending more time in solitude then I expected." Again she smiled in an attempt to comfort him, and it seemed to work as Dae made to go inside.

The interior was just as intricate as the exterior, it could be argued even more so. It seemed cozy, a place that belonged to a family. She watched as Dae spread out some spare belongings in the extra room. When he had gotten everything in place, he asked if she needed anything else. "If you think there's time, I'd like to bathe before this feast. I smell like travel, and I figure I'd have a head start on the bath since their preparing for tonight. Though, I might need to borrow some more clothes." She half smiled, motioning at what had become of her clothes. At the very least they would need to be cleaned.

{Dae: #0D4F8B Aquarian: #73B1B7}

Dae was a bit surprised when Barnabus thanked him for opening his arms and his home to Jilpryris when the others would not. It made him feel a little uncomfortable to be complimented and thanked. He didn't really do much. He did what needed to be done. Mature? Maybe, but he didn't want to take credit for something that was just natural. This was the way things were. Ah well. It was nice to hear but he needed to make sure it didn't go to his head. He leaned against the door frame then and looked over at his fellow rider when she began to speak.

"What's the matter? Afraid you'll see something you like?"

Dae was blushing clear down to his chest. Worried that he would see something that he liked? He wasn't sure how he wanted to respond to that. He could be flirtatious if he wanted to be. He didn't often pull out that charm but it was not like he was a stranger to it. He was the siren rider after all. Charm was part of his nature and Aquarian had taught him enough. Though Aquarian was very up front about sexuality, Dae didn't always want to be like that. Jilpryris didn't seem to mind it though so maybe doing a little flirting of his own wouldn't hurt.

"I am not worried about that," he cooed. "I already see something I like," he winked. "And you would not want to get into the water if Aquarian is there. He'll do far more than try and wash your back," he chuckled. "Trust me." He was a little surprised to hear that she lived on the farm with brothers. The other riders were always nobility or rulers so he was the only one that had a more simplistic life though he to was a leader of his people. To hear that she lived on a farm made her feel more on his level. She could appreciate and understand the quiet life much more than say someone like Trytheus. He has seen Amstra once and it had been... very overwhelming for him. He offered her a smile and relaxed a bit now that he knew she wasn't going to start judging his people's customs. Then she mentioned bathing.

"Oh right. Taking a bath is probably a good idea," he chuckled. He went back to the cupboard and grabbed cloth that they could use to wipe themselves off before he went into his mother's bedroom and sifted through the clothing trying to find something that would fit Jilpryis. He came back into the hall with the bundle. "Here we are. Come on, I'll show you to the waterfall." He exited onto the maze of bridges and he toured her to the waterfall that was used for bathing thanks to the running water. He set the clothes on a tree branch so that they would be easily accessible and not get dirty.

"I'll take your clothes. The paint will fade a bit but it won't come off unless you really scrub at it. When we are done, the food should be finished. Hopefully we'll be able to get some information about what beast we should be looking for or get some sort of direction," he informed. He blushed lightly when he saw the other rider strip down in front of him. This was normal but for some reason he still felt a bit shy. He couldn't help but let his eyes wander over her form as she revealed it. She was rather attractive. She had a nice curve to her body and she looked rather athletic. When he caught himself staring, he averted his gaze and accepted her clothes and rested them on the branch with the rest of it before he took off his own clothes and weapons. He wondered if she was watching him to but decided not to look up and see if she was. Once he was disrobed, he dove into the water.

Ahhhh water. It was cold but just like Aqauarian, he loved the water. He felt at home in the blue depths and the chill made him feel clean. It was going to be amazing to wipe off the old sweat and grime and sand from the travel. He surfaced and shook his head, spraying water as his hair plastered against his face. He offered the other rider a smile. "It is cold but you'll get used to it!" he warned and dunked his head again to scrub at his head before he surfaced again.

She was smiling and full of confidence when Dae started to blush at her question, but whatever response she was expecting, it wasn't the one he gave. "I already see something I like." Suddenly she felt very much like the tables has been turned, because he even went so far as to wink at her. A deep shade of red overtook her face, an excessive blood pounding in her ears drowning out the warning about being in the water around Aquarian.

A momentary silence came between them before Dae spoke about the bath. Thankfully he began searching for something else for her to wear, not only was she eager to get a change of clothes, but she turned away from him while he gathered the necessities, drawing in several slow, deep breaths. "Okay...that was silly. You weren't expecting it, that's all." She repeated this to herself several times in her mind to calm herself down. She was almost startled when Dae made his way past, announcing he would show her to the waterfall.

Waterfall? Well, what else had she expected? The way they had blended their homes with nature the bathing area was undoubtedly similar, and she couldn't figure out why it surprised her, or that she had even expected there to be a bathhouse. She followed him, her curiosity keeping her silent during the trek. When they arrived, it was a lot nicer than she had expected. The flawless tactics that had been used to coexist with the natural landscape continued to amaze her.

Dae suggested placing their clothes in the branches for ease of access and to keep them clean, then it started to dawn on her that she was actually about to get nude in front of him. She chuckled almost nervously, tugging at the strings that kept her hair up, letting it down to clean properly. "Right...well, here goes."

First she wiggled free from her trousers, her top not providing much in the ways of coverage, so it was best to take that off last. She handed him the trousers, and took off the top. "Hopefully however far we have to go to find this creature it isn't another week by sea. I haven't quite gotten my sea legs yet." She uttered a playful groan.

When Dae turned to place her clothes on the tree, she jumped into the pool, a chilling wave cascading from her toes to her head as she plunged beneath the surface. Immediately she clutched at her sides, the cold giving quite a shock to her body. Pushing off the bottom lightly with her foot, she surfaced, gasping loudly as she did so, followed by a shout of excitement. "Well! If I wasn't awake before. Phew!" She leaned her head back, tilting it side to side, running her fingers through her hair to loosen the knots that had developed during their travels. The sudden splash from Dae diving in startled her, but she smiled at him when he surfaced. "I'm glad I jumped in, had I known it was this cold beforehand it would have taken me ages to get in." She clenched her jaw as it began to tremble, fanning her arms out wide several times to keep from staying still.

Dae chuckled at Jilpryis. She was already chattering with her teeth thanks to the fresh coolness of the water. Of course Dae was shivering a bit to and goosebumps riddled his skin. It really was cold. It wasn't summer so the water seemed that much colder. He sunk until the water reached his neck and shook a bit as he continued to wipe away the grime. It really did feel amazing to bathe. Though he had to admit, when they had finished their task last time, Serafina had allowed him to bathe in the castle and they had steaming hot baths. It was heaven. It was one luxury he wouldn't have minded. He quickly finished cleaning off before he moved onto his back to float in the water. He really liked the weightlessness of the water around him and staring up into the canopy of leaves and branches. The sun was going down but even with darkness approaching, you could see light shifting through the leaves and it really was a beautiful sight. He could get lost in it for hours.

"I don't think we are going to need to go anywhere by boat for a while. The twins said that this creature was in this forest so we may have to travel a while through the territories, but no boat trips," he answered her then. He really wondered what this creature could be. He knew there were a plethora of animals he hadn't seen in the forest but he had only seen two different types of creatures with any sort of magic in them and those were harpies and chimeras. He doubted that the twins were talking about either of those. Though harpies could live a very long time, they didn't have any sort of power that could rival the beast they were up against. And chimeras... they had brute strength and speed but not much else though they were intelligent creatures.

Dae sat up in the water then as his thought turned towards their mission. He swam towards the shore and hoisted himself out of the water. He squeegeed himself of and used one of the clothes he brought to wipe off most of the water before he put on a fresh pair of leather and his boots. He then went through the task to equip himself with his weapons before he sat down on a boulder beside the water and shoved his wet hair away from his face. He pulled free one of his daggers and twirled it around in his hand and watched as it turned. They had a limited time limit for all of this. They couldn't take too long with pleasantries. He may be home, but he wasn't going to stay long in the village. He really did hate how much he had to leave them. His mother watched the village when he was gone but what would happen if he died? Or when his mother died? One day he could just up and die. He glanced at Jilpryis who was a vivid example of what could happen at any moment.

The dread was starting to rise up again and he shook his head to clear it and shove those emotions back. He wouldn't let those feelings consume him. He needed to distract himself. "So Jilpryis, what is life like on a farm? I've never been on a farm before. I know you take care of animals but not much else," he admitted then.

It didn't take long for her to get used to the cold water. After a few short moments it was almost refreshing, relieving to an extent, freeing some of the tension that had knotted her muscles since the early days of their sea voyage. She scrubbed gently at her limbs to clean away any dirt and grime but careful not to scrub too hard at the paint.

She was relieved to hear that they shouldn't need to be traveling anywhere by boat anytime soon. She held back the urge to let loose a sigh of relief, instead she briefly submerged her head, the cooling water jolting her mind, she tossed her head back, her hair slapping against her shoulders and smiled at Dae. "That's good. I prefer my next trip by boat to be shorter, work myself up to the week long trips, you know?" She said, giggling slightly.

Shortly after Dae had gotten out of the water, she felt she had spent enough time in it herself and that she was sufficiently clean. She swam slowly to the edge of the water, gentle strokes carrying her to the spot where their clothes were waiting. Climbing out from the water, she pulled her hair tight into one hand and draped it around her shoulder. She dried off using the other cloth Dae had provided, and afterwards she dressed in the fresh leather bottoms and top similar to the one she wore before, only less tattered.

She perched on the boulder next to Dae, eyeing his dagger curiously as he spun it in his hand, her own fingers running through her hair to work loose some of the wet knots. He offered her a brief look, and she glanced into his eyes, something seemed to be troubling him, a deep disturbance beneath the surface, but when he opened his mouth to speak, only questions of what it was like to live on a farm came out.

It caught her off guard, and she looked away for a moment, focusing her attention on the water as she decided how best to answer. "It was...simple. There were plenty of animals to be taken care of, mostly horses, cows, chickens and pigs, but a few others. Then there was the crops, every year we'd have an entire field ready to be harvested. Many things grew their, I don't think I could name them all off the top of my head." She paused, as if she'd forgotten what she had planned to say next.

"I spent so much time with my brothers, my father let me tend to a small garden out back, said a lady should have some time to smell the flowers. Most of my spare time was spent there, if I found a flower I liked, I would take it from the garden and share them with the villagers. Most of them were hard workers and didn't have much free time to admire the simpler beauties, and I wanted to share it with them."

She looked back to Dae again, and couldn't help but feel like she was somehow, however indirectly, the result of his current malcontent. Averting her gaze, she rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry about your friend, the rider before me. Truly I am." Then for a few moments she remained silent, hoping she hadn't said something wrong.

Dae continued to watched the dagger as he rotated it in his hand and listened to Jilpryis talk about the farm. She spoke of animals he wasn't familiar with. He was far more familiar with deer than little cows and chickens. He had seen them in his travels but never had to deal with them personally. He wondered what it would be like to be surrounded by those animals. It couldn't be too much different than life here in the forest even if the animals themselves weren't the same. It sounded quiet and peaceful. He wouldn't mind seeing what it was like to live on a farm and take care of the land and the animals. And he kind of wanted to see the flowers she was talking about. She brightened the day of the people she passed those flowers to. She seemed like a good person. That was probably why she had been chosen.

"I'm sorry about your friend, the rider before me. Truly I am."

Dae stopped twirling the dagger, its pointed edge towards him, and froze. That statement had come out of nowhere and at first he didn't know what to say. He looked over at her then and put away his weapon. He reached out and gripped her shoulder lightly and squeezed like he would with any brother or sister in arms.

"It is not your fault. Amir, Trytheus, and I should not have made it sound like it was," he sighed. "And you are still her as you are all the other reincarnations before you. But remember, you are also you. I am glad to have you on our team. Don't worry about what the others think. That will mend in time," he answered. As he often did with his sister, he tapped her nose and offered one of his rare little smiles. Then he got up and stretched, popping his back in the process. "I guess we should return," he mused. "Come on."

Dae led Jilpryis back towards the village then. A steady thrum of drums reverberated through them with each step and the smoke from the fire rose through the trees as it sought the open air. With it came the mouth watering aroma of cooking meat on a spit and the slowly roasting vegetables beside it. It certainly made Dae's stomach growl. He hadn't had a good meal in a while. And he did have to count their village lucky considering they could trade easily with Amstra. Without the trade route, they wouldn't have the seasonings that made the food stand out, not to mention some of the vegetable variety. The forest had a plethora of advantages but farm land was not one of them. To farm, they would have to raze the trees and that just wasn't an option. So much rested on the inter-working web the trees created naturally. They rarely cut the trees down when they did need them.

"Before we go down to the center of the village, I need to stop at the house," he informed his companion then. He slipped inside the little house and into his room and rummaged through his things before settling the beaded and feathered headband on his head. He didn't often like to have it on but it was custom to sport it in the gathering. Like most of the painting on his body, the beads were blue, clear, and white and the feathers themselves had been dipped in blue paint. When he was ready, he gave Jil a nod and the two of them headed down to the center of the village.

And there was quite the bustle of activity. The entire village was moving about the center. Some were just finishing with the dusting, brooms sweeping away the clutter of dirt to provide better seating area on the floor. Most were busying themselves with setting up the table that hadn't been there before with various fruits and vegetables as well as finger foods that had been prepared earlier. Around the area were musicians nodding their heads to the beat of the drums and flutes and when they tired, there were plenty of people ready to switch with them. The fire pit was the center of the activity however. A group of villagers were busy checking the roasting stag while others danced by themselves, in pairs or groups.

Aquarian himself was one of the dancers and his eyes were bright with the joy. A group of 4 children were dancing around with him though they were a little more interested in the bubbles and droplets of water he provided for them. Streams of water danced to his whim and the fire reflected off of the droplets sending an array of colors and sunlight almost making the water look like flecks of fire. Aquarian of course was loving the dance and the attention he was getting. The siren was a passionate individual but he was also quite the vain little thing. Especially if someone complimented his scales.

As people saw Dae and Jilpryis, cheers rang out and the drums picked up the pace. As if this wasn't enough of a spectacle, Aquarian wasn't one to miss a beat. Aquarian himself was dancing around the fire, streams of water twirling around him. He manipulated the water with ease. He even used it to spray some of the tribesmen to cool them off which they appreciated considering the roaring flame.

Then there was a flurry of motion as those checking on the deer hoisted it up, stick and all, and set it on a platter of its own. Dae then moved over to it and began cutting the slices for everyone, including a slice for Jilpryis, as was his honor. People crowded around him as he passed out the food and for a moment, the siren rider was overwhelmed by the attention of greetings, well wishing and plates passing by. When everyone had their food, Dae set his own plate. Dae then motioned for Jilpryis to follow him over to a slightly elevated perch and sat down. Aquarian was already sitting and he gave a little wave at Jilpryis. Dae's mother and sister were sitting just off to the side, closer to the rest of the circle of villagers that to the two riders.

Since people were far more occupied with their eating, most of the musicians left their instruments to eat and switch once they were full. There would always be a steady beat of music though it had lowered to more of a hum. Everyone was laughing and smiling and Dae found himself grinning. He did so love his people and he was happy to be among them again. It was right to be here. And then tomorrow, he and Jilpryiswould have to set out to find this mythical creature he'd never heard of. He would have to ask the tribe if they knew anything. It would be a good place to start.

Dae turned to Jilpryis then. "Where is your beast? I am sure he is hungry to, isn't he?"

Jilpryis almost regretted what she had said upon seeing the way his body froze in reaction, and for a moment he remained silent. Then he began to reassure her that things weren't as bad as they seemed, and that it was just a complicated situation to have been thrown into. This calmed her mind slightly, though she still couldn't help but feel badly for bringing it up in the first place.

Before long, Dae suggested they head back to join the feast. This finally brought her attention to how hungry she was, and she quickly followed. As she trailed behind Dae on their way to his home, one last stop before the festivities, she let her gaze wander as she had before on the marvelous exotic landscape, her mind adrift with the thoughts of the food to come.

While she waited for Dae outside, she could hear the sound of drums in the distance, not too far off. It made a feeling within her roil to the surface, a need to move, a sudden burst of energy. She rocked back and forth on her heels, drumming the surface of a wooden railing impatiently.

When Dae stepped back outside, he sported a fancy head piece that made her smile. "Interesting head wear, but I think it suits you. Come on, I don't want to miss much more." She gripped on to his hand suddenly, pulling him forward as she sped up to a jog. She made her way through the landscape, admittedly not knowing entirely where she was going, but she could hear the music getting louder, the energy in the air getting more profound, and occasionally the site of another villager headed in the same direction.

By the time they had arrived, the scene was quite a spectacle. Dozens of people busied themselves with tending the food, fire and other goings on of the festivities, while others, including Aquarian, danced around a large fire to the rhythm of the drums. Her eyes darted back and forth trying to take in the entire thing, frantically holding on to every detail. The energy in the air was unlike anything she'd ever felt. So pure, vibrant and expressive. She hardly noticed how tightly she had began to grip Dae's hand, until she felt her own fingers getting sore, and quickly released him from her grasp.

She couldn't help but blush, chuckling softly. "I'm sorry. Everything is just so..alive! Is it always like this?" Before Dae had a chance to respond, the mass had noticed their arrival, and everything began to get much louder. Any response would have been drowned out in the sea of drum beats and chants. She stuck close to Dae as they made their way to the center of the feast, where a large table was being prepared with a freshly cooked dear. She was suddenly grateful for the noise, because she could feel how loudly her stomach was growling, had it been quiet enough for anyone to hear, she would have been slightly embarrassed.

As Dae began to cut into the beast, the noise seemed to start dying down, and a familiar presence grazed her mind. It was Barnabus, it took a moment for his voice to come through, but she heard, "I am close by, it seems I have returned just in time. I won't be long now. My wings are well stretched, I am ready for a meal and rest." She was glad to hear her partner again, to know he had arrived safely. Slowly, from her core, she could begin to feel his energy as he got closer. Her thoughts were pulled back to the feast as Dae handed her a plate. She took it, offering a genuine smile and a low bow of her head.

Soon after, everyone had received their food and began to disperse to various locations to sit with friends and family. Dae motioned for her to follow him, and they sat together on the slightly elevated patch he had picked out. Aquarian nodded his greeting as they sat down. "I wish I could clean up as well as you Aquarian. I can't imagine how much jewelry I'd need to get that shine. I was sad I hadn't arrived sooner to see more."

The air was calm and tranquil, everyone was focused on their meal and their was still a smooth sound of drums seeping through the mass as people took shifts between playing and eating. When Dae inquired about Barnabus, almost on cue, the beat of his wings sounded in the distance, and he emerged from a clearing, his massive wings tucking into his sides as he trotted to a basket set aside for him filled with apples and carrots and other things of that nature. He grazed happily as he rested his wings, remaining silent while the others enjoyed their food. The way Dae was smiling made her smile, and she tried to recall other times she had been this happy.
