Description

Nico Quinesberry

ImageImage
|[Full Name]|
Nicolai Humphrey Quinesberry

|[Age]|
25 Years

|[Birthday]|
September 22nd

|[Role]|
Bassist & Really passionate about the lyrics, too.

|[Sexuality]|
Homoflexible, closeted.

Image|[Description:] |
The first thing most people notice about Nico is his mess of hair and his smile, he always seems relaxed and endlessly friendly. He's got a reasonable build, but is relatively short at 5'7" and doesn't really consider himself physically fit or attractive. He dresses like a bassist usually might, in black and jeans and more often than not, a beanie when he doesn't wanna be assed with his hair.
Despite often wearing clothes which cover them up, Nico has a small collection of tattoos. He has a set of buttons tattooed on each wrist, violin 'f' marks on his lower back, a 'bass' tattoo on his right arm, an anatomical heart with over his heart (more centered than the reference picture), with the lyrics 'love will tear us apart again', an array of small music-themed tattoos to cover his wrists, and the lyric 'Throw my emotions in the grave. Hell, who needs them anyway?' across his collarbone.

Image|[Personality:] |
Nico is probably the happiest depressive you'll ever meet. Unshy and outgoing in social situations, he's the stepford wife and happy 'kid brother' type in the band. He often finds himself in interviews because he's bright, talkative, and loves music more than anything. The only really true part of himself that Nico shares usually is his passion for music, otherwise he's spent a quarter of a decade pretending to be everything he's not. While not he himself violent, he's fiercely loyal enough to back his friends up in a fight, and he's been known for falling into bouts of alcoholism or drug abuse and not telling anyone until they find him passed out on some floor. Barely even managing to keep his head above water, romance has almost been a non-issue for much of Nico's music career, seeing as, despite being friends with his bandmates, he's insisted on shouldering everything he's had alone. One of the things shouldered, however, just so happens to be a secret sexuality, and a longtime desire for something more than an empty cycle of city to city and no one to go back to.

Image
|[Likes:] |
Music: Nico would be the first to tell
you how much he loves music,
almost any type. | Lyrics: Music did
him wonders, but lyrics saved his life. |
Animals: Nico has a kitten who's used
to tour buses, and who comes along
with them on tours. | Sweets: Nico has
a major sweet tooth. | Love Songs &
Romance Novels:
something about 'em.
|[Dislikes:] |
Groupies: he's been stalked back to the bus one too many times. | Insensitivity: Bigots and every day assholes fall under this category. | Spiders: He's terrified of 'em. | Depressive Episodes: He runs into them enough. | Faking Being Happy: And yet he still does it. He doesn't know why.
Image|[History:] |
Even with his bandmates, Nico's past is off-limits. He keeps it to himself. Nico was born in Detroit, home of, well, a lot of abandoned buildings, for the most part. His blood is thick with addictive tendencies, and he was raised with his mother, an alcholic chain smoker and factory worker in Detroit, and his older half brothers, Sven and Abel, both from different fathers and five or six years Nico's elders. From the beginning, Nico was a musician. He wrote lyrics before he learned bass in middle school, and hasn't stopped the practice. By the time Nico was a teenager, he was an addict, picked up by correctional services, and then shipped to a foster home. He was lucky, he ended up adopted by fifteen, and met his best friends in a band not long after. While still no stranger to the worst kind of habits and trying to fill an unfillable hole, Nico is doing a little better with friends around, that said, the thing between Chayton and Roni is bumming him out. He forgot how lonely he is.

So begins...

Nico had been avoiding people all day. His band, his manager, everyone. It was in his nature to just disappear from everyone for a few days every now and then, it was all he could do. Sometimes he had to take a day or two to himself when his days started getting worse and his depression got the best of him.
As he entered the bus, he anticipated no one there. He anticipated walking in on quiet and the poignant absence which spelled a moment alone in the bus where he was all-too-often in way-too-close quarters with the band. It was way better than their van days, though, when they hadn't quite made it yet.
Nico froze, confused by the television being on with no one watching it, and he sat down in front of it, mid-way through his action toward the back of the bus and digging around in his jacket pocket for the joint he'd rolled earlier. He slowly withdrew his hand, watching the TV with a certain skepticism. He quirked an eyebrow at it, then turned the set off, and sighed, he looked back toward the bedroom behind the bunks and shook his head. He had one guess about who'd left the TV on, blaring about Roni having solo work.
He pushed himself from the couch and to standing, before picking his way to the back of the bus, knocking gently on the doorframe before entering, and sitting beside Roni without missing a beat. Somewhere along the line, he plastered on his beautifully faked and so natural-appearing smile, and brushed her hair out of her face.
"I don't believe that shit, for the record, and even if I did, who cares if you do solo stuff," he said, and then, to brush over the encounter, make it clear it was okay if she didn't want to talk about it, "What are you working on? Need help?"

Hmm… Warm…
That was the first thing Viv felt when she woke up. She was all curled up under a soft blanket, and there was… something else that was making her feel so warm. She shifted slowly; it was almost instinctive for her to move carefully. Why? Her legs moved and she squirmed… She still wasn’t sure what this thing was. It was practically wrapped around her considering the warmth was also around her neck, shoulders, and back. Rather reluctantly, she opened her eyes. The harsh, artificial light of the inside of her bus hurt her eyes. It took all of her willpower not to shut them again.
After they had adjusted to the brightness of the room, Viv looked down at the warm thing… Oh… its.. Emma… Oh.

This was perfectly fine, of course. The others wouldn’t mind or anything. Her eyes fluttered shut once more and she began to doze off again… But this was.. extreme warmth. She felt Emma’s hands on her bare back, radiating a comforting heat. Wait… B-bare back? When did my shirt come off?! This also would not be that much of a problem. It wasn’t too uncommon to see Viv strutting around the bus with just a sports bra on, but the bra she was wearing now was far from a sports bra. She glanced down and noticed she had lost her sweat pants as well. She was left in just her undergarments.

The sound of Nico and Roni moving around jolted her even farther into awareness. The two girls were snuggled together on one of the bunks. Her arms, which were curled around Emma’s waist, tightened. She hugging the girl hard, as if she was trying to hide her cloth-lessness despite the fact that they were mostly covered with a blanket. “E-emma…” She whispered, a deep seated blush spreading across her cheeks. W-wait… we didn’t.. we couldn’t have… the others are here… O-oh my… She buried her face in the crook of Emma’s neck.

Roni didn't look up when she heard the knock on the door. Either someone was coming to confront her or someone was coming to tell her everything was okay. But really was it? What kind of jerk would make something like this up? She loved her friends and would never betray them. She bit her lip when she heard Nico. He was one of her closest friends within the band. He was probably the one she wanted to believe in her the most.

"I don't believe that shit, for the record, and even if I did, who cares if you do solo stuff?" He said to her.

ImageImage
Her green eyes met his brown ones. It felt like a weight had been listed off her chest. "But you know, I wouldn't be doing this type of thing if it wasn't for the band. I have no interest in going solo. I only tried out for the band because of-" She stopped short in case someone was listening in. "Well, you know..." Her cheeks were now red. She looked down at her notebook again. She closed her eyes and rested her temple against his shoulder. "Thank you though. It means a lot that you believe me."

"What are you working on? Need help?" Nico asked.

ImageImage
She snorted, not opening her eyes when he asked what she was working on. She held out her notebook to him where she had been scribbling down harsh words of a poem about how rumors could turn lives upside down. "I just needed to vent I guess." She laughed, looking up at him. "You can try to help but I doubt we could make this into a hit song. Then again with our skillz we could pull it off." She teased, bumping her shoulder with his.

Roni bit her a lip, wondering if the others had heard the rumor yet. "Have... you talked to the others yet?" She asked him softly.

"But you know, I wouldn't be doing this type of thing if it wasn't for the band. I have no interest in going solo. I only tried out for the band because of- well, you know..."
Nico chuckled. He did indeed know, and found Roni's somehow-not-obvious affection for Chayton borderline adorable. He'd been watching it bloom since high school and hadn't until about five years in realised the full implications of the looks Roni gave Chayton, when she'd fallen over him drunk and half-out-of-her-mind, and spilled her guts. He'd kept her secrets. They all kept each other's. For a fraction of a second, Nico struggled to keep his smile genuine. Then her forehead was pressed into his shoulder, and he was reaching up, running his fingers down her hair.
As soon as Roni handed him the page of lyrics, he adjusted his sitting position so he could read while still petting her hair, and chuckling along.
"Come on, you know vent songs make some of our best work," he said, eyes running over the page a few times before he took her pen and started making annotations carefully in the margin and off her words so they could still be read. This was common practice; co-writing lyrics had made Roni and Nico a lot closer than they ever would have been without the practice, and it was something they both got passionate about.
"Have... you talked to the others yet?" The question almost startled Nico, and he had to settle himself a minute so he didn't look awkward.
"Nah, I haven't talked to anyone since we left stage last night, uh, stuff hasn't really lined up," he lied (Nico didn't much like the idea of admitting to avoiding his band members for the sake of his own mental health), "But I bet everyone else feels the same. We love you. We trust you. We won't think anything came from your mouth 'til we heard it ourselves."

Roni continued to rest against Nico. He might not have voiced all of his secrets but she had been able to guess them. She hated that he thought he needed those drugs to make him feel better but she knew it would hurt him if she brought it up. So she took care of him. If she heard word there was a drug dealer around, she'd make the security guards go and send them away and if they didn't go willingly they got arrested. She was fine with his pot use but she hated him getting into anything heavier. She couldn't stop it all, but she tried. When he got too wasted, she took care of him. She helped keep it a secret from the others but it was getting harder and harder to do. They were best friends. They'd take care of each other. She trusted him with her secret.

She smiled, letting him adjust to sit up. She watched him start scribbling away. Had she not known him for ten years it would have been unreadable

"Come on, you know vent songs make some of our best work." He said.

ImageImage
She smirked and nodded. "Yeah that's true. But you don't think this could just be so generic? I mean, don't most bands have a 'fuck you paparazzi'?"[/b] She asked him. She hummed softly, trying to come up with a melody for their song. She reached over and grabbed a binder that they kept song sheets in and another pen. She started jotting down a few things. She glanced over at the sheet he was working on. She nodded along at the changes he was making. [i]"Oooh, I like that change." She said, pointing to one of his notes.

Glancing at him, she listened to him. "Nah, I haven't talked to anyone since we left stage last night, uh, stuff hasn't really lined up." She frowned at that. She knew better. Plenty of things had lined up but he had chosen to stay away. She couldn't help wonder if there was anything she could do to make everything easier on him. "But I bet everyone else feels the same. We love you. We trust you. We won't think anything came from your mouth 'til we heard it ourselves."

ImageImage
Roni nodded but wasn't sure what to say to that. Would they all really be that understanding? Would they all just know she'd never do anything like that? "I hope they all me know me as well as you." Smiling at him, she tucked a free curl behind her ear. "I'm worried that Chayton might now be so... understanding."

She bit her lip. This wasn't exactly the first time something like this happened. Roni was always so nervous around Chayton that she didn't always fully open up to him. Around the time, they were first starting getting big Roni started dating a guitarist who didn't have a band. Chayton had seemed so sure that she was just going to up and leave them that it started several fights.

"I don't want this to be like last time, you know? She sighed then jumped at the sound of Chayton's voice. She blushed, staring at him. "Yeah?" She prayed he hadn't heard what they were talking about. "What's up?" She hoped he hadn't heard the news.

Viv waited patiently as Emma got herself dressed. She watched with interest, inspecting Em’s every movement. She let Em hop out of the bed first, and took her hand to help her out. She hadn’t expected her to hug her close and kiss the side of her neck. Viv let out a quiet squeal and practically fell against Em. Her neck was her weak spot, and Emma had discovered it. She blushed furiously as the other girl pulled away to walk towards the kitchen. "Come on let's see if there's any breakfast anywhere, I fancy some cereal or some chocolate milk. I wonder if my dads flying in for the show in a few days time."

Viv puffed up her cheeks and crossed her arms stubbornly. She was still embarrassed. However, she still followed the other blonde to the kitchen. She watched as she rummaged through the cupboards. “Hmm… I don’t think I’ve ever met your dad officially. If he does fly to our next show, make sure to introduce him to me.” Viv smiled warmly. She jumped up as she saw a familiar reddish-orange box in one of the cabinets. Lunging forward, she snatched the box out. “Yay, Captain Crunch!” She smiled. Bouncing over to another cabinet, she grabbed a bowl, opened the box, and found nothing but disappointment. She frowned, her brow furrowing. “Aww…” She had been so excited… Captain Crunch was her favorite…

Her sadness was overcome by anger. Viv wasn’t sure how many times she had opened and box of cereal and found nothing. “Pour l'amour de merde…” She cursed in French, a habit of hers. She turned on her heel and stomped over to the main bedroom, where she had heard the others talking before, with the empty box in hand.

“Alright, which one of you sons of- whoa.” She froze, her grip on the box loosening. “What’s with all the morbid faces? Did someone die ‘r something?” She asked, her gaze nervously sweeping the room.

In the exact moment that Viv made an entrance, three things happened instantaneously to Nico. Firstly, he turned to her, this made the second about fifteen times more unexpected. The second, was that out of nowhere Nico's scalp was suddenly full of fifteen or so tiny claws. To be entirely fair, he had forgotten to keep an eye out for the three month old tour bus terror, but he hadn't exactly expected her to come flying out of nowhere. Or off the shelf in the corner, maybe.
The third was the realization that this was all going to go downhill from here (and fast), which came only a second before Nico started flailing, trying to get the cat off himself. In what seemed like a large scrabble, but was actually only a few seconds, the cat jumped off of him and scurried to some hidden corner of the bus, but not before Nico had successfully scattered their papers, and bumped into the two closest people rather harshly trying to free himself from the furry terror.
He shoved himself away from the bed and shot Roni an apology stare while stalking across the room and taking Vivian by the elbow, turning her around and walking her out of the room and back into the couch area. As he grabbed her he gave her a look which said 'let's give them some space', and he made it clear he wasn't going to take no for a nonverbal answer. He sat down on a couch and looked up at her.
"There are rumors going around of Roni making solo stuff, or switching over to solo work, and, like most rumors," Nico gave her his best smile, "They're the farthest thing from true."

Emma turned briefly at the quick flash of movement from Viv as she grabbed a box of cereal that seemed to be empty, Viv pulled a funny face and cursed in French then finally stormed off. Emma eventually found a box of Lucky Charms that was close to empty anyway, picking up a bowl she dumped the contents of the box into the bowl as well as a good measure of milk.

Then there was the sound of shuffling then as if on cue the little minx of a cat came barraging through the kitchen and off to somewhere else. Finding a clean spoon Emma walked into the lounge area seeing Nico talking to Viv.

"There are rumors going around of Roni making solo stuff, or switching over to solo work, and, like most rumors, they're the farthest thing from true"

Emma took a seat on the couch and ate a few spoonfuls of cereal before making her point heard. " well i'm calling BS on that one, if Roni was doing that she would have talked to us first. Probably an outside source that they are calling an inside source. I see Bagheera scratched your head up, I think he is part monkey" Emma laughed softly and continued to eat.

The second that Viv walked into the room, chaos erupted. Nico was flailing this way and that, scattering Roni’s paper’s everywhere and running into people. She opened her mouth to speak, but was quickly cut off as Nico grabbed her, turned her around, and pushed her out of the room. “Hey!” She stumbled out of the room into the main area once more. She scowled as Nico plopped down onto a couch.

"There are rumors going around of Roni making solo stuff, or switching over to solo work, and, like most rumors," Nico gave her his best smile, "They're the farthest thing from true."

Viv’s face was expressionless as she processed this information. “Oh…”

"Well I'm calling BS on that one, if Roni was doing that she would have talked to us first. Probably an outside source that they are calling an inside source. I see Bagheera scratched your head up, I think he is part monkey." Em walked over, bowl of cereal in hand, and sat besides Nico.

“I agree with Em. She’s also… just not that kind of person, y’know.” Viv shrugged. She looked down at Em and noticed she was eating Lucky Charms. “Aw… was that last of it?” She kneeled down in front of Em, resting her chin on the other girl’s knees. She pouted, giving Em the most adorable puppy dog face she could muster. It consisted of the wide, watery eyes and soft whine. “Can I have some…?” She whimpered, gazing up at Em.

Nico greeted Emma with a wave and another smile and started to feel like he was stitching himself together. He was momentarily reminded of that feeling that things were only going to get worse and that having the entire band around him was exactly what he'd been trying to avoid for the past twenty-four hours.

"Well I'm calling BS on that one, if Roni was doing that she would have talked to us first. Probably an outside source that they are calling an inside source. I see Bagheera scratched your head up, I think he is part monkey," Emma responded before Viv had a chance to. She sat beside him and Nico rolled his eyes, he gave that little convincing smile-laugh he was so good at while he ran his fingers down the scratches on the back of his neck.

"She is full cat, thanks," Nico jokingly corrected, still smiling, "But yeah, total BS."

After Viv shared her agreement, as well, Nico watched her and Emma do their thing. They'd been doing this, this almost-flirting thing, for long enough to let Nico notice it. He was honestly just starting to wonder when the paparazzi would, or the gossip columnists, and more importantly he was beginning to wonder why everyone in the band was suddenly (or not so suddenly) leaning toward each other in such romantic ways while Nico himself seemed to be the last man standing.

(And maybe, he thought, it might actually be time for him to try to get into the whole 'getting together with people' scene himself, he wasn't getting any younger. But that, of course, would mean the all-encompassing topic of 'coming out' and more importantly, finding someone willing to put up with him.)

All of that, combined and in addition to his previous doldrums, meant Nico was becoming less and less inclined to stick around to watch his bandmates climb all over each other. They could have the bus. He hoisted himself up from the couch and smiled, shrugging at the two of them.

"Well, crisis averted with you two then, you might wanna check on Roni and Chayton in a few minutes to make sure he's not too angry. We're not playing tonight, are we? If we are, someone text me a couple hours ahead of time, or text me if anyone wants to smoke up I guess. I'm gonna see if I can't track down some food and something strong to drink," Nico said, firm, not letting Viv or Em get a word in edgewise. He took the few backward steps off the bus, then turned around and started walking toward the stage and the vendors around it. His hand was going for his pocket wen he ran straight into a girl he knew.

He smelled like leather; one of the few things that Sienna had not gotten used to on the road was knowing how band members smelled. Nico blinked down at her, and then smiled a huge smile Sienna was more than used to. Of all five band members, Nico was perhaps Sienna's least favorite; she didn't know how to connect to him and something about him just seemed incessantly fake. She wished he wouldn't act like he was happy all the time if he wasn't. That said, she didn't necessarily dislike him.
"Hey Nico," she chirped.

"Hey, I'd love to stay and chat, but if you don't mind, I'm hungry as hell," he responded, and she gestured with an open hand, he just turned and immediately walked off the other direction. She could just see scratches down the back of his neck. He was weird. Sienna really wasn't sure if she even liked him. There were two explanations for the scratches; his cat, which was more likely, or the story Sienna was certain the paparazzi would go with if anyone noticed them; he was turning into one of those band guys who sleep with whatever woman they can find and leave her for the next city when their tour dates take them out of the town, and who like to get rough while doing it.

She turned away and continued her path toward the equipment van, shoving his extra basses and a backup guitar for Chayton back into their rightful places. She shrugged, then, leaning against the van and lighting a misty 120 while she thought. She took a long drag and let the smoke trickle from her lips after inhaling.

Sienna was inclined to believe the latter about Nico, but she was a little worried about what the press might say, what with Roni's rumor already flying. If the gossip journalists could capitalize on this band, they would, and scratches like those could be easily blown out of proportion.

Sammie felt exhausted, for one. She'd been on a flight since 3 p.m. the previous day, just to get to where ever her band was for their gig. She couldn't keep track, and was too tired to take the time to look it up on her tablet, a white Ipad Mini. That little thing was her best friend during this job, and she couldn't have been more satisfied with it. It even had little games for her to play when she wasn't sleeping on a plane, bus, or car.

After going through an exhausting trip through the airport, she grabbed her car keys out of the little basket she was required to place them in, for checking, and booked it out of the way too-crowded building. She was slightly annoyed, not only because of being swiped by those policemen, but because she sat next to a young mother, and a newborn the whole way here. Sammie was sure she was already a mess, but without sleep, she'd crash. So, with a messy bun, and red eyes she grabbed the biggest cup of coffee she'd had in a while, and booked it on over to the band's gig site, at least that's where she hoped they'd be.

Sammie was kind of nervous about working for the band, in general. With the rumors going about Roni, she didn't know how exactly they'd been reacting to it. Sure, she's their agent, but she'd been gone away, sealing up the last of the end ties for this whole rock tour, off in another state. So, she'd been gone for about a month and a half.

She finally arrived to the band's gig spot, and thank god, they hadn't moved on yet. It looked like they were either getting ready to leave, or had just gotten there and hadn't set up yet, she couldn't quite tell. Pulling up next to the van, she parked, and hopped out, her legs a little tingly from starting to fall asleep from the long drive. After stretching momentarily, she whipped out her faithful little Ipad, and threw her backpack on her shoulders, and headed towards the buses to see what exactly was going on with the band, coffee in tow.

Johnny had napped for a good two hours on his flight, alone. Sammie had gone who knows where to do something about the tour, and he'd gone to a meeting with his boss about a possible future tour, if the band continues to see success throughout the current tour. He liked his job alright, it paid the bills, and.. he got to see her.

Roni. Oh, Roni, was the light of his life for almost 3 years. He'd had a major crush on her in highschool, then finally had the balls to ask her out, and dagum, she accepted. They'd dated for the almost 3 years, and then she found Chayton. He'd never cared for him, but Johnny didn't hate Chayton. He hadn't given him reason to, until he noticed Roni paying more attention to him. Now, he doesn't exactly go out of his way to make Chayton happy.

He scratched his forehead rather seriously, his hair in it's usual spikes, and his jeans their usual dark color, with a few wrinkles in the upper thigh area. His and Roni's old anniversary was coming up, and he was more than excited. He loved her, and that may be the only thing he was damned sure of.

Johnny, a little late, arrived at the gig location, and as scheduled, the band hadn't left yet. "Right on time.." he muttered, as he ran a hand through his thick hair, and grabbed a clipboard from the passenger seat of his truck, a black F-150, the latest model. For only a brief second, he smiled, at his earlier conversation this morning with Chayton, or Sunshine, as he'd called him. As Johnny walked towards the buses, he noticed Sammie's car, a bright aqua blue Ford Mustang, with two white stripes on the hood, and roof of the car. Shaking his head, he chuckled, and was interested to see what the band had been up to as he'd been gone.

Evanne suppressed an aggravated moan towards the glorified bucket of bolts she schlepped this band in to God knows where in the country. It's been getting on her last nerve for a few months now and she's not looking to get any new ones in. Her messy black hair was piled haphazardly on her head while she worked. Most days she thought of just chopping it off, but if her saltiness didn't drive every man away already, her boyish coif certainly will. She had her future children to think about. Not that she ever had any dream of having them. Sleep deprivation can do a lot of awful things to the body and she doesn't exactly take care of herself. She'd be surprised if she had one good egg still floating in there.
One positive thing she can attribute to her perpetual lack of sleep is the exuberant amount she is allowed to spend on whatever she damn well please. Her high physical fitness and expansive knowledge of engineering, engines, and more was attributed to.
But all of that counted for jack shit right about now considering the damn circuit on the electrical panel was fried. Lights have been wonky before but she chalked that up to laziness and now had no other choice but to handle up on it. She kicked the tire and plopped herself down, gathering herself before she did what she knew she had to, call her brother over. Don't get it twisted her brother was a genius when it came to all types of electronics, but these situations always played out the same. He'd be smug at the fact that she needed his help to work on a vehicle, but then turn around and constantly ask questions about the rest of the vehicle. He made no sense.
Evanne wiped the sweat from her brow and laid her arms on her propped up knees. She wore thin sweat pants, even though it was still quite warm, but all she wore on top was a black sports bra and a frown. If beau saw one more grease stain on a shirt he bought her he'd throw a hissy fit and she really didn't feel like hearing it. She traced the lines of her tattoo on one arm absentmindedly and let her mind open for just a little while. She's been up for about 36 hours now, but managed to put in hours of tinkering and exercise in between drives and gigs that she never went to. Uninterested. She was hopeful that she might actually be able to sleep tonight. God Bless the person that ever woke her up from a "nap" as she calls it, she's busted many a ball for less.
Rolling her eyes at nothing in particular, she hoisted herself up, got a quick sip of water and went to go find Beau so that they could get the show on the road. She walked through the bus first even though she knew he was more than likely inside or by her car. He was so lucky he got that privilege. She passed several band mates that she merely nodded to. She can't really recall having more than a few words with anyone actually in the band so she kept it brief most of the time. She grabbed a jacket from a small closet where she kept spare items and let down her hair, not bothering to brush it. Eventually after some searching she found what she was looking for.

Image
Beau was placing some of his equipment into the back of Evvy's car. The band was planning on playing shows, mostly because it was a band, so electronics always had to be tweaked. Audio always had to go through and everything had to be perfect. No one said it would be easy doing the thing you love, but he'd always been a hard worker. His light grey t-shirt and dark jeans felt heavy on him since he'd been working most of the morning after he woke up so he pulled a shirt out of the back of Evanne's car and had just taken his grey one off in exchange when she came stomping up, looking as cute as a button. But she's always looked cute when she's mad. He laughed as he was sliding on his clean black shirt.
"What's got your panties all in a twist?"Forgetting who he was talking to, "Forget I asked"
Evanne mocked amusement but got to the point quicker than usual, "The electrical panel on the bus needs some TLC and a wire needs to be re sectioned and re soldered."
Beau was feeling positively giddy as he reached into the back seat where he had just sat his tools and grabbed his portable soldering gun, a handful of wires, pliers, and his gloves. He followed close behind her as they made the short walk back to the bus from her BMW.
"So does this mean that you actually need my help with a vehicle?" Giddy couldn't even describe his euphoria. IT had been a couple of months since Evanne had asked him for anything and he was going to milk until it was dry.
She gave a short "Can it." before she lifted the panel leading to the electrical panel. "All I need are these two wires here...and here, to be re soldered. I also need this wire to be replaced up to this point, as she pointed to about a foot above where the wire had been attached to the motherboard. "Think you can handle that Sparky?"
Beau smiled at her and nodded his head as he surveyed the damage to the wire. It looks as if it ruptured from over stimulation. Since this was the particular wire running the head lights it made sense, they had been traveling quite frequently lately. He grabbed some plastic wire connectors from his pocket and began putting his gloves on. "Shouldn't be a problem sister dear," he said letting some of his southern drawl eek out, knowing it would get under her skin. It did. She squinted her eyes, but eventually rolled them and blew out a breath and leaned her head on his shoulder. " I think I might actually be tired. Tired and dirty."Her nose scrunched up slightly and he smiled at her and kissed her forehead. "Go wash up Evvy, I'll handle this no problem so we can be on the way. We should be moving within a couple of hours, but I'm sure you could squeeze a nap in if your'e up to it." He always worried about how her sleeping habits, or lack of, affected her health so he always tried to remain optimistic about the promise of sleep. Beau watched his sister sigh softly and lift her head up before squeezing his arm and pulling up the corner of her lip, the closest thing to a smile she gives on a regular basis. "Here's to hoping". His eyes followed her into the bus where she entered the bathroom before he got down to business. He could do this kind of stuff blindfolded, but he took his time. He liked doing things to lessen Evanne's workload whenever he could and it made him feel good to help her. Too soon, though, he was done and shut the door to the compartment. As he walked back once again to her prized BMW to place his tools inside, he shot her a text saying that everything should be up and running.

Secrets. That was the life MacKenzie Marbles now delt in. Her music career was short lived but she did love it while it was there. No one remembers her as 'Kenzi'the pop star. When she was at the height of her popularity, she met this guy named Frances Morgan. He was a french camera man who introduced her to her true love. Film. She loves the way that capturing real life on film can change people's view.

She sat on a park bench across the street from the bus. Instead of sitting like a normal person did, she had her feet on the seat and her but on the back part where people usually rested ther back up against it. She brought a joint up to her lips and took a long drag. Her blue eyes stared at the tablet that sat on her knees. The one thing that her subjects weren't aware of was all of her hidden cameras and mics that she had added to the bus when they were off at a show.

Right now she couldn't see Viv and Em, but oh, she could definitely hear them. She blew the smoke out. "Well, well, well. This... could be very fun."

ImageImage
Kenzie finished her joint and turned off the tablet as she saw Em and Viv climbing out of the bunk. She put it into her bag and pulled out her hand held camera. She pulled it out and turned it on. She made her way back to the bus, smiling at the Harkin siblings as they worked on the van. "Hey guys. I want an interview with you two later!" She said aiming the camera at them so she got a good look at their olive toned gloriousness. They could be models if they had wanted to but she got the sense they were too down to earth.

She turned and stopped when she ran into Nico. "Hello there. Nico, got anything you want to say about that little rumor about Roni? I doubt it's true but it would be better to hear it from you rather than the person behind the camera." She gave him a flirtaious smile. She suspected a few things about him. She was positive he was a user and she was almost certain he was gay. She also knew he was not about to come out. But people would start to ask questions.

ImageImage
Mac saw Sienna behind Nico. She winked at her. She didn't see any harm in behind friendly to everyone. It wasn't like she couldn't get just about everyone into bed. It's not like they needed a forcing from her. Who wouldn't want her? She waited until he responded to move on to the bus. As she was climbing up the stairs, she noticed Sammie arriving. She gave her small way then continued on.

And there was viv all alone. Emma must have gone off to the bathroom or something. "Hey there, darling." She said to Vivian in a sultry voice. She aimed the camera at the keyboardist as she finished off the bowl of cereal. "What, not gonna share with me?" She teased her, coming to sit next to her. She smiled when Emma came back. She grinned at her. "Well, there you are. Good morning."

The air was thick with the steam that emanated from the shower than rained on her. She liked it hot enough to melt the flesh from your bones. It just felt nicer. In the corner of the large mirrored bathroom a nifty Bluetooth speaker was bumping and she frankly didn't care if it bothered anyone. This was her time. Her time to relax her mind, smooth out her tension with the temperature of the water. And just turn off. This was her sleep and her escape from the world outside of the wall of steam.
Water fell over her face and burned her eyes, but damn if she didn't like it much better than the burn from lack of sleep. But all good things must come to an end, her shower included. She turned the water off and stepped out of her little sanctuary. Goose flesh rose on her skin at the sudden loss of heat and she quickly towel dried. She could only barely hear voices outside of the bathroom, laughing and talking to each other, socializing, and her forehead creased. She should probably get her butt in gear and check to see if the engine was still working good before they shipped off. It always was, but she had to keep herself busy somehow. She slipped on a pair of tight black skinny jeans and a loose fitting blue t shirt. She then blow-dried her roots and applied her eyeliner a small bit of make up to her under eye so she didn't look TOO much like the dead. She looked at herself in the mirror, noting how rosy her skin was after such a hot shower. Once she deemed herself presentable, she made the seemingly endless trek out of the bathroom.
She had just shut the door when many things happened simultaneously: She spotted Johnny out the corner of her eye, being a worry wart as usual, wondering where Roni is. Here best bet was with Chayton somewhere. That was a slice of drama that she was unwilling to take a bite of. Then Viv, Em, and Kameralady Kenzie were all giggly and flirtatious and it made her even more concious of her gargantuan height. Well, her and Beau's. It also made her stomach roll, thankful that her salty demeanor was enough to deter most kinds of advances. Not that she would know what to do with herself should the occasion arised. It's not as if she has any expierience. Kenzie mentioned something in passing, while being annoyingly invasive with her camera, about interviewing her and Beau. Evanne didn't get it. There was nothing for her to say. She just drove. She had no opinions and didn't care to voice anything, but Beau would more than likely be aiming a pitchfork at her back, if Kenzie wasn't already holding it. She set her dirty clothes into the closet and sat on a sofa, resting her bones. There was no point in checking the engine. She knew it was fine, she always knew. So she crossed her left leg over her knee and flipped on the TV, halfway interested in whatever program was on. Cartoons...Great.

Beau Harkin hated his Glasses. As if he wasn't the biggest nerd on the planet, he had to have terrible eyes on top of it. Don't get it twisted, his knew his glasses looked good on him, but he'd be damned if they weren't a giant pain in his ass. Always falling when he's trying to look at something closely or when he's working. It was a nightmare but he didn't have much of a choice. Contacts worked well for everyday use, but if he needed to focus, glasses were his best bet. But since he wasn't working...Eyeballs are contacted and he's ready to not focus on the world!
Beau walked past the bus, and peaked his head in through the door to see Evanne all clean and relaxed on the couch being anti-social as usual while everyone was talking and laughing. She spotted him out of the corner of her eye and rolled her eyes. Adorable.
"Hungry Sport"
"Don't call me sport like you're old. If anything, I'm the oldest. I was born first."
It was Beau's turn to roll his eyes, "This again? A few seconds doesn't make you older. I'm the more mature one."
Her huff almost sounded like a chuckle. Almost.
"Enough about me being the better twin, Hungry."
Evanne looked up at him and then looked away. "...cheeseburger."
Beau beamed as he saluted, "Commin' right up!", he looked to the other occupants of the bus and tipped his metaphorical hat. "Ladies...Johnny", and quickly exited. His belly rumbling up at him for the millionth time told him that if he doesn't get food soon he'll have hell to pay.
He made his way over to the vendors for some grub when he spotted Nico, the bassist for the band, and Sienna, fellow techie (instrument techie) BUT TECHIE NONETHELESS. He saw the two standing near each other and smiled as he walked up.
"Hey there! Haven't seen you two in a while. You especially Nico. I feel like it's been forever since we said some fine hellos!" Beau lightly patted his shoulder then looked between the two "So how's it going? Anything good here? I'm starving!"

"Hello there. Nico, got anything you want to say about that little rumor about Roni? I doubt it's true but it would be better to hear it from you rather than the person behind the camera." The words jarred Nico from his self-induced mental isolation, and he turned to get an eyeful of bright red hair, blinking wide eyes, startled for a long moment before he cleared his throat, bringing his hand to his mouth. He let his face fall into the comfortable fake smile he'd been mastering for years, turning to the camera in Kenzie's hands.

"Of course it's not true. Even if it were, the music industry's gotta learn that just 'cuz someone does solo work doesn't mean they wanna leave their band. Hell, I write some songs on the side, does that mean I'm gonna run off and start my own band? Hell no! This is our family. Silent Serenade has been around for almost half our lives now, it pretty much is our lives. And we're each other's best shot at going anywhere else in life. I think Roni feels that more than any of us. She'd never leave us," Nico finished with a pointed look into the camera before Kenzie scampered off again with a wink to Sienna a dozen yards back.

He sighed, turning back to Sienna to bum a smoke, and smile at her, a grateful tiny smile, before he leaned into the nearest vendor stall and ordered two coffees. He remained leaning against the counter until they were ready and he handed one over to Sienna, looking at her between drags of her blue Misty 120. (Definitely not Nico's brand; he preferred American Spirit or Nat Sherman, Mistys were pretty much just bitch cigarettes as bad as Virginia Slims, but Nico was bumming, so he wasn't going to be a chooser.) They didn't really talk. Nico liked Sienna, but didn't have much to say to her.

"You're damn good with a bass," was all Nico could really say before Beau entered the scene. He smiled as he approached.

"Hey there! Haven't seen you two in a while. You especially Nico. I feel like it's been forever since we said some fine hellos! So how's it going? Anything good here? I'm starving!"

Nico gestured to the cigarette in his hand, "I came for coffee and cigarettes, man. I haven't been hungry since yesterday." He shrugged, then screwed up his gaze and pointed to a stall a couple down, "They had really good funnel cake and pastries, though, I remember that much."

Sienna raised her eyebrows and shook her head, she gestured to a different stall. "Get yourself something real to eat, don't take this goon's advice. He wants to get you fat." Nico shot her a glare.

"But I'm good," Nico said with a little more conviction than he needed to sound convincing, "Bus trouble really sucks. How's Evanne taking it? How're you?"

Sienna received the wink from Kenzie, returned one of her own, and raised the pinky on her cigarette while she mock curtsied at the woman before she disappeared, off to do whatever it was she was off to do. She rolled her eyes a little at Kenzie's question about the band breaking up; they'd never be anything but rumors. Sienna was damn sure of that. If anything in this world was a constant, it was definitely Silent Serenade.

"Can I bum one of those?" Nico asked and Sienna gave him a half-quizzical look, but retrieved her pack of Mistys and slid one long, thin, white cancer stick out to place it between his fingers. He gave her a slightly more genuine smile in return while he turned away to light it and she, maybe, thought a little better of him in that moment.

They smoked in silence until Nico once again broke it, "You're damn good with a bass." Sienna looked a little startled, cocking her head to the side and gearing to respond, but suddenly Beau was right there and she couldn't do much besides shrug off the compliment as she turned to Beau.

"Hey there! Haven't seen you two in a while. You especially Nico. I feel like it's been forever since we said some fine hellos! So how's it going? Anything good here? I'm starving!"

Sienna had to bite back a chuckle at that- Nico thought he was keeping secrets avoiding people, but she and everyone else saw the avoidance loud and clear. He was the only one who didn't realize everyone else knew that he'd duck behind corners to stay away from his own friends and bandmates.

"I came for coffee and cigarettes, man. I haven't been hungry since yesterday. They had really good funnel cake and pastries, though, I remember that much." Nico pointed at a stall a few down which Sienna snorted about.

[color=#00FF66]"Get yourself something real to eat, don't take this goon's advice. He wants to get you fat,"[/url] she said to Beau, which earned her a glare from Nico.

"Babe..."

Roni pouted when he pulled away from her. She looked up at him, unsure what changed in him as he sat up. "What's wrong, sweetie?" It wasn't like they hadn't been intimate before... even on the bus. She could remember one time they had almost been caught by Em and he had to cover her mouth to keep her quiet. But that was neither her nor there since he now seemed wanted nothing to do with her. Her head started to spin.

"You've never been this touchy so fast... and... Are you okay? I mean, I know there are those rumors going around, but strong, independent Roni doesn't usually let that stuff get to her."

She nodded slowly. She could see something was coming that he was afraid to say. She was too scared to object when he slid her hand out from under her shirt. "Yeah... I was just worried it was gonna be like before. You know five years ago. I was dating that guitarist and Chayton freaked, thinking I was leaving the band. I was worried we were gonna have another civil war on our hands." She told him honestly.
ImageImage
"Babe, it's all gonna be okay. Are you.. hiding something? Are you trying to get me to not think about the fact that everytime I come back from some trip, I almost always find you with him?"

The redhead stared at him in disbelief. She opened her mouth to speak but this was just insane. How could he think that? Did he really not know her at all? "Are you fucking kidding me?" She hissed quietly. She sat up, scooting away from him to get space. He wasn't the only one feeling anger. How could he think that she would go behind his back?
ImageImage
Roni let out a frustrated squeal, chucking her pillow at him with more force than she had before as he was climbing out of her bunk. "It's been three fucking months. What am I not allowed to want to have sex with my own boyfriend?" She growled at him. She glared at him. She couldn't remember ever being this mad at him before.

And there it was. When she got angry, it would always turn to tears. She continued to glare at him as tears formed in her eyes.

"If you're gonna go around and tease me, with that... boy toy, then, I guess maybe I do need to find a new band, and I'll just let you live on in your whatever career of a singer."

That could have possibly been the most hurtful thing to say to her. Sure, when she was high school she didn't know what she wanted to be but the band showed her what she was good at. "If that's what you really think then leave." Her voice came out stronger than she had thought it would.

She pulled the curtain shut so he wouldn't see the tears that began to fall rapidly. She pulled out her phone and sent a mass text to Nico, Em, and Viv. "911! I think Johnny just broke up with me! Please come?"

Rain pittered and pattered , falling on the dense canopy of a forest. Nocturnal birds called and were answered. The forest floor crawled with life. All things that slithered and creeped crept were awake. A single lit window as all of civilization that could be seen.

A dull , squishing thump echoed in a steady theme through the underbrush. A thunderous crack broke the night in two, the birds stopped calling, the forest froze as if holding a collective breath. A soft thud. The breath was exhaled.

Brad opened his eyes slowly. He wasn't in the jungle anymore... He inhaled the musty, stale air, the bus where the band stored all the sound and light equipment had always had that stale taste to it. He sat up with a groan from his makeshift cot that was little more than cloth draped over a frame with milk creates for supports. Pushing a hand through his messy blond hair he let out his held breath. ' What time was it...' He glanced down at the faintly glowing hands on his watch. 02:34. He could tell the bus wasn't moving, the band must have wanted to stop and stretch their legs or something. He stood an d shrugged on his usual clothing, a light kevlar vest and a plain black t-shirt. He probably wouldn't need it but it had become more of a habit than anything else to wear the light body armor, besides it's not like it stood out 'that' much.

He patted down his jean's to check if he had anything, wallet, multi-tool, sidearm, lighter and smokes. His mental check list checked off each box.

He left the opened the back of the bus carefully as to not smack anyone with the door.
A few of the other roadies were hanging out by the back door, gossiping as normally for the road crew to do.
" Mornin" He said as he passed, giving a small wave while he walked. He'd probably go find something to chow down on.

He followed along the side of the bus, seeing some of the band members outside, smoking.
It looked like Nico , he seemed sullen about something if brad had to guess.
He gave them a waves as usual as he walked to the closest place to grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich or something.
