In 2011, a young boy and girl, around 10-11, both had strange mutations which gave them a tail and ears that resembled a cat. It was all over the news as scientists were baffled as to how it happened. The first prediction came as a supposed new bacteria that instead of harming the body, morphed it and grew certain qualities. It changed all of their senses so they seemed to be able to hear a mile off and walk quietly, even if they tried as much as they could to be noisy. In 2013, the prediction of a new bactera was confirmed when a group of scientists analyzed it and watched it grow that of bacteria. When scientists fuzed the bacteria with big illnesses like Ebola and HIV, they found the bacteria also killed the illnesses (even if they couldn't cure a cold).

One scientist wished to make a formulae to attract the bacteria and trap it to test if it did infact cause the strange mutations. In 2016, an accident in the lab released a gas that the scientist created by converting the bacteria god knows how and turned people into cat/human hybrids after the glass the gas was contained in shattered from pressure. Slowly, everyone became the hybrids like the boy and girl and the gas floated around in the Earth's atmosphere for about a week before going off into space.

In the span of 5 years, major scientific discoveries were made at a price. Lots of jobs were now no longer needed and people who were allergic to fur could, sadly, not be saved from their allergy. New buildings were then set up to accustom to the newly formed population and designs changed very quickly. It took a while for the clothing industries to figure out how to make clothes effectively for the tail as well.

Although more than 99% of the population got mutated, about 0.2% of the population were not mutated. Most of them were angry about the mutations and wanted to kill any mutated people, while others got on with life normally.
