Andy Longi's Story

While looking around she saw another man. I'm not the only one here early, she thought to herself, and watched as he smiled and said "Why hello there." Giving him her best smile, she replied "Nice to meet you." She didn't know if he was in a higher position than her, so she had to play it on the safe side and act on her best behaviour. But as he ducked inside what looked like to be an employee lounge, she realized that he was just a co-worker. She could act like a normal human being around him then. "Coffee?" he offered when he returned. "I could go in and get you one." he said with a laugh.

"Sure." she grinned and took the coffee he held in front of her. Her body relaxed as her hands cupped the warmth of the mug. "Thanks." Paige managed to say before taking a big sip. "I'm Paige, frozen foods." She explained and pointed to her name tag. "And you are?" she asked, raising the corner of her lips as she continued to drink the delicious coffee.

Ashton was already up today, even though it was only early morning. She was walking on the sidewalk on the way to Joe-Mart, her new working place. She wasn't wearing her uniform for the job, but she wasn't going to be actually working yet either. She'd applied for the job as a night cleaner and she'd gotten it right away. There's probably not that many who wants to work at night, but for Ash it was the only choice she had.
As she got inside the supermarket, she looked for an office of some kind. She needed to get her keys to the building, as she was the one who was supposed to lock and close the whole store tonight. Instead she found what looked like an employee lounge and decided to ask the people inside.

"Uhm, hi..." she said carefully and waved at the two employees in the lounge. "Do you know where.... uhm, where I can find... the boss or something?" she asked and smiled nervously. "I need some keys."

Sam skipped in, grinning like the mad woman she was. She didn't need to clock in or anything! Her. Job. Was. A-MAZING! All she had to do was scream at people and act bananas! Not too hard to do, is it? She saw the people in the lounge and walked over, wanting to introduce herself. She popped her head in, smiling polietly. "Hello! 'Tis my first day on the job an' my name's Sam. Nice to meet ya'll." She paused for a moment. "I'm the new Joe 'round here so if I'm acting.. well... crazy, don't mind me!"

Paige looked up from the rim of the coffee cup when two new people walked in. "Do you know where... uhm, when I can find... the boss or something? I need some keys." the first girl said who wasn't wearing a uniform. Shaking her head Paige frowned "Sorry, I just got here a few moments ago, I've never met the boss." she admitted. The second girl was also not in a uniform, and introduced herself as the store's Joe. "Nice to meet you both, I'm Paige." she took another sip of coffee and let out a breath. "Are you going to dress up like a homeless cat lady?" she asked Sam with a hint of amusement in her voice.

((DANGIT, IMPATIENT DOUBLE CLICKING...))

Sam laughed, grinning. "I was hoping to, yeah! Maybe the boss'll let me. By the sound of it, we've never seen the boss. Any of us, right?" She asked with a sense of mystery. What kind of boss doesn't introduce themselves to the new workers? She shook the thought from her head. "Anyways, I'm gonna go look for the govna'. See you folks 'round." She nodded polietly and left the room, the thought of her dressed up as an old cat horder still making her grin. Walking around for 10 minutes, she saw no sign of the boss or anyone in charge. Maybe they could just party all day!

"Uhm, do you mind if I sit down?" Ashton asked and pointed at one of the old ugly couches, even though she didn't care about their answer. "See you folks 'round." the cat lady - what was her name? said and left with a big grin on her face. Ashton couldn't help laughing at the woman. "Interesting person..." she mumbled and then sat down without waiting for the other two to answer her question. She glanced at the guy, he was quite handsome actually, and read his sign. "So Andy.... what humiliating job did you get then?" she asked and smirked slightly.

Sam smiled caustiously. "Ummm, matter o' fact, I was just lookin' for the Gov'... I've never met the guy and I would like too." She stopped for a moment, something hitting her like a frisbee. "He is a he right? Or is he a she?" She stopped again, realising how strange that sounded. "Or is she a he that's secretly a she still?" Sam joked, knowing she wouldn't be able to correct how the rest of what she had said sounded anyway.

After Andy shook her hand, he abruptly left the room seemingly to go after Sam. Paige sat down on the floor, though she was tempted to climb up onto one of the bunk beds. Not soon after Andy left the room another man entered it, smiling and raising his hand, saying nicely "Hello." She set down her empty mug and waved back at the new man. "Hey, I'm Paige and that's..." she paused and glanced over at the other girl's name tag. “Ashton." She looked down at her own nametag and thought it looked rather... plain. I'll have to decorate it will something later tonight, she thought to herself, isn't that what you're supposed to do with nametags?

Standing again she scooped the mug off the floor and wondered where to return it, deciding to place it on one of the boxes and she would ask Andy about it later. "I'm going to go and find out where the frozen foods section is, cuz' that's where I'll be working. Anyone want to take a walk around the store with me?" she offered, looking around.

Sam blinked at the keys the guy handed her. He must be getting mixed up, Sam wasn't the one who wanted the keys. Wasn't it that other lady? What's 'er name! "Sorry, Sir, I think you've got mixed up. I don't need these keys. It was the other lady." She smiled warmly, wandering back to the lounge where everyone was at earlier, she popped her head in. She was gone. Damn. Sam turned away and leaned on the wall beside the door, putting a hand in her jean pocket while jangling the keys. "Lady who needed the keys, come get 'em..." She called out. Smiling to herself, she called out again. "Come to the lounge!"
