"Turkey, lots of veggies, light on the mayo..." Lyric stated his usual sandwich. He was a veggie man, not much of a meat person, but knew how important it was for his body and continued to eat it even though he was not entirely a fan. "Have you heard anything about the winter ball that the Raven-Crest family sets up?" he asked, knowing she was of royal blood from one failure attempt to meet the parents. He was not sure though if that meant she would be invited to go or not. "Or is it still up in the air?" he asked.

She paused for a moment hearing the name. She took a small breath and finished his sandwich and handed it to him. "no i have not heard anything yet, not really expecting anything from them any time soon." She looked at him "i know how much of an opportunity it would be for the news paper if we where able to attend but i dont think that they really will be inviting me we did not last speak on the best of terms and well you meet my family everyone at the ball would not really be anything different." She kissed his cheek before taking a bite of her sandwich.

Lyric thought about it and nodded. "I guess you are right." He looked out toward the lake and then took the sandwich that was made for him and held it to his lips for a moment. "You've never really told me why you showed up that night... in my office." He glanced over at her. "Its been almost six years."

~*~*~*~*~*~

Nathaniel lifted his hand and held hers in his own before standing up himself. "Then I look forward to you arrival this weekend for the festivities. I'll send an invite to you at once Miss..." he was at a loss of words. "Oh how rude of me, my name is Nathaniel Raven-Crest, son of the Raven-Crest family. And you are m'lady?" he asked, bowing his head down slightly.

Lyric was shocked by her response. He honestly believed only half of what she said, knowing by the way she was casting her eyes down that there was more going on that stormy night than she was accounting for, but he understood hardships and trying to leap over bounds to talk to the other about it. It was one of the hardest things he had ever done, talking to her about his abusive father and his sister that rarely came down stairs from the attic. Though she knew him now, six years had warmed him up enough to tell her the worst in his life, but he was willing to wait and see how long it took her. "The sun is going to start going down soon... perhaps we should head home?" he asked.

Celest looked up and smiled. "Yeah i think we should." She started to back up the food and plates. When she finished she stood up and moved the small cooler off of the blanket so Lyric could fold it up. She looked around at the meadow below. She sighed softly to herself. She wondered what would happen if she really told him what was going on. Would he still feel the same love for her, or would he freak out about the fact that the ball he so much wanted to go to so he could write a report about it for the newspaper was the place only 6 years ago that she had been told she was engaged. She knew it was a silly thing to worry about it but to her it seemed like a nightmare.

The maids around the Raven-Crest family mansion were searching everywhere for their master Nathaniel. His inventations were completely done, and one of them had managed to put them all on his desk with his signature, but they wanted to make sure that it was exactly how he had envisioned before they sent them out into the public. But of course Nathaniel was not found anywhere, making their job rather difficult. His mother told them to just watch his room and await his arrival for whatever may happen.

-------

Lyric watched her pack everything back up into the blue cooler and then shook his head. He took in a deep breath and then went after her downt he hill toward their home in the lower-class part of town. He did not know how she felt on his farm, and it was never clear how she felt about his past. But he was not worried about any of that because he had managed to keep her at his side for six years, so what could go wrong now? Surely, her parents would not cause them any problems, or even the RavenCrest Ball. "I'm sorry..." he caught up to her, lacing his fingers around hers. "I shouldn't have asked."

Lyric glanced over at the barn when Celest asked him about riding his horses. He thought about it a moment. "I think I will. I was hoping to get Aurora out of her room," he mentioned his sister, who almost always stayed up in the attic. She only came down for lunch, or to work in the guarden, but other than that she was not a fan of being around other people. After what her father had done to everyone, she had become socially awkward. "Would you like to join the two of us?" he asked.

Lyric nodded his head. He was hoping that one day the two of them would get along, but even after six years, Aurora still did not speak to Celest very often. At dinner she started to open up lately, talking to Lyric once more, but would not say much to the woman that was sharing the house. He took in a deep breath. "I hope so too. I fear that if she doesn't warm up to someone else then she'll never have a chance in this life," he stated, looking the ranch house over before seeing his sister in the garden. Her short dark hair ruffling up in the wind as she moved about the lilies with ease. It was not often that he would actually spot her in the garden, but today they were coming home a bit early.

"Aurora," Lyric called out to her once they were even closer to the great oak that stood right outside the lovely white and brown home. The girl looked up with her deep sunken in grey eyes and a small smile played on her lips. Today she was wearing a lovely blue bow, which apposed the usual bright red in her dark hair. She stood up and then held out a silvery white and blue envelope with some gold on it.

"Mail..." she said timidly, looking at her brother and doing a quick glance toward Celest before holding it out toward her. "For you both..." she parted it so that there were two invites.

~*~*~*~*~*~

"Lilly," he grasped her hand before she could swipe it away and then brushed his lips against the back. "It has been a pleasure meeting you Miss Rinn. I will pick you up for the ball in a few days. The invites will be coming out soon." He smirked when he saw the blush on her face once more. "Good-day." He added before pulling away from her and fading into the crowded street heading home. He then looked over the invites that had been made up.

"Where have you been?" his mother asked, walking into the study room he claimed.

"Finding a date to the dance, Mother. I think you'll like her." Nathaniel stated, when he approved the invites and added one more address to a Miss Lilly Rinn. His mother just looked him up and down and shook her head. He chuckled and watched as the maids moved away taking all the invites and heading out into the world to deliver them. All of the deliveries were soon made, with one maid waiting patiently on Lilly Rinn's door as asked to hand deliver it to her personally.

She looked at Aurora and smiled softly. "Hello" She noticed the color of the bow was different and smiled a little brighter. "you picked a different color bow today it looked pretty." She kept her voice calm and friendly and tried to push to hard into a conversation. She blinked slightly and looked at the invitation. "oh..?" She reached out and carefully took the one with her name on it. "Its a ball invitation....." her hands shook softly and she turned it over to open it but stopped and decided to open it later. "so lyric im going to go up to my room for a moment ill be right back ok" She smiled softly before slipping away into the house.

She walked for a few moment before slipping into the room where she kept her things mostly things that she had acquired over the past six year and when she showed up she had what she was wearing her backpack and half a locket. She walked over to a desk putting the letter down as she sat. She reached over for her letter opener. She slipped open the letter hoping it was just going to be a simple letter.

(Each invite is personalized. So all the invite information is within this post. Thanks.)
Lyric smiled at his sister. "What does the blue bow mean?" Lyric asked, as he gently pulled the invite out of his sister's hands and then wrapped an arm around her shoulder. He watched as Celest quickly entered the house and went to her room. Perhaps she had something she wanted to get, or perhaps the invite was a little more than what she had expected.

"Joy," his sister brought his attention back to her. "I was having fun in the garden, and I'm not so sad today, I can only hope that means joy..." She snuggled into her brother's arms and then gently pulled away. "I must return, my plants are calling me. I hope you have fun at your... dance..." Aurora gave him a soft smile, so soft that it could almost be said to be a normal face, but Lyric knew better. His sister was actually happy for once. He then flipped the invite over and opened it to see what it said.

Sir Lyric Heartstring
You've been invited to the RavenCrest Family Ball this weekend.
We've heard great news about your writing abilities and this is
the first ball ever thrown by Nathaniel, the son of the Raven-
Crest family. We hope that you will accept.
Nathaniel RavenCrest

The journalist was pleased to see that his invite was basically an invitation for recording the ball down and reporting it to the world. He was excited to tell Celest that he had been invited with this in mind. He took in a deep breath and started into the house.

My Lovely Celest Hart
You've been invited to the RavenCrest Family Ball this weekend.
This is the first ball ever thrown by Nathaniel, son of the Raven-
Crest family. It has been asked that you sing a son in honor of
this new event accompanied by a piano. Please let us know.
Love, Nathaniel RavenCrest.

"Celest?" Lyric entered the house and put his invite on the front desk near the door, where they put most of their mail now. "Celest, everything alright in there?" he started toward their room. They had only started sharing a room a couple of months ago, but she still had her own room in case she needed some alone time. When he opened the door to their own room he noticed that she was not in there. "Celest?" he then knocked lightly on her door.

Sweet Lilly Rinn
You've been personally invited to the RavenCrest Family Ball
this weekend. It is a delight to offer you my side as a dance
partner and hope that you will stay with me throughout
the evening events. I look forward to seeing you on my arm.
Nathaniel RavenCrest.

Lyric shook his head. "No reason. Aurora is staying out in the garden for once. The RavenCrest family wants to report the event, because it is the first one thrown by their son Nathaniel." He gave her a happy smile and hugged her lightly. "What did your letter say?" he wondered, not sure if she would have gotten a personalized letter as well, or if it was similar to a normal invite just saying something about the event and that she was invited to join them.

"A song?" he repeated as she continued to talk about how they would need to go tux shopping and that her singing must not have been that great anymore because her practice has only resorted to the shower. He shook his head and chuckled. "Aurora even comments on how beautiful your singing is," Lyric stated, remembering the first time Celest was over heard in the shower. Aurora had fell in love with the voice, and would often sit outside the bathroom until the singing stopped, but Lyric would tell her that. It was kinda creepy.

"I think it will be great to have your voice out there again. I don't see why you shouldn't. Anyway," he thought about tuxes and dresses and smiled. "I have a tux, one that my father left me." He then went still for a moment, remembering his father, but he had always loved the tux. "Do you have a dress?" he asked her, not sure if she had bought anything worth the ball within the past six years. "Perhaps Aurora will go with you to find a dress?" he suggested, not sure if Aurora would be much help, but he was hoping his sister would get some more time outside of the attic and garden.

she smiled and laughed softly. "yeah i dont have anything even really close to being ball gown formal" she thought for a moment. "i guess i sing if you really think its a good idea but that also means i should go call them the ball is coming up really soon" kissed lyrics cheek softly. "ill be right back" She ducked back into her room leaving it open if he wanted to come in. She walked over picking up her cell phone and flipped threw the numbers when she found the house number for RavenCrest she hit call and put the phone up to her ears. She prayed that a worker of the family wold answer not him....or worse, his mother.

Ring.... Ring.... Ring... Nathaniel heard the constant buzzing of the phone in his office going off. It was unlike him not to want to answer, but then he thought that perhaps it was Celest, and the worst thing would be to frighten her with his own voice currently. He waved a maid over from the hallway, who had stopped to see what the loud noise was about. "Would you please, answer that phone? Tell me who it is and what they want when you are done. You know what to do..." he stated softly before rolling over in his bed and pulling a pillow over his head. If it really was Celest, he hoped she agreed to the singing, and hoped that she wouldn't all at the same time. It was his mother's idea for their duo, which was unknown to the woman.

The maid lifted the phone to her ear and said in a sweet tone. "RavenCrest residence. This is Mailynn, may I take a message?" she asked, her voice never faltering as she glanced over at her master playing with half a locket around his neck.

Meanwhile, Lyric stood at the door to Celest's personal study and waited to see what would happen with the two of them.

She was revealed when it was a servant and not one of the RavenCrest family. "Um yes this is Celest Hart i was calling to confirm that i will be singing at the ball this coming week end?" The ball seemed to be coming up so soon as it was only Wednesday and the ball was Saturday. "And i also needed o ask if there was a certain song that was requested of me to sing or if i just prepare my own?" She waited for the response. She sat down on her desk top and looked back over at Lyric smiling slightly.

The maid listened carefully to Celest as she took in the name and information that she said rather quickly. Then she was at a loss for words when the woman asked about a specific song that may have been requested for her to sing at the ball. Her eyes turned to Nathaniel who was now sprawled out on the large black leather couch, his hair down for once instead of bound in a braid making him look like a red angelic creature. One of his beautiful emerald eyes peaked up at the maid as he felt her gaze upon him. Perhaps it was the eyes that Celest had fallen in love with Lyric, for the two men's eyes look almost identical. Nathaniel stared at the woman for the longest time before realizing that it was Celest on the other side of the phone, and he also knew that the woman would have asked about the song.

Taking in a deep breath, the man spoke softly, just loud enough that the maid would hear him but not loud enough for Celest to hear his sweet velvet voice. "Arms, by Christina Perri." He stated, then closed his grassy eyes and put his arms over his forehead. The maid nodded then returned her ear to the phone.

"Miss Hart. It seems that the song requested from you is Arms, by Christina Perri..." her voice came soft and sweet. "We will then see you on Saturday." She stated.

Lyric, once he saw Celest had asked a song he stepped into the room. "Well what song will you sing?" he asked impatiently.

She nodded. "thank you ma'am i will see you there." She hung up the phone writing down the song. She walked over to Lyric hugging him. "how badly do you want to know" laughed softly. She kissed his cheek, "i will tell you if you let me borrow the computer for a few minutes to get the lyrics and to download the music to my ipod" She laughed softly knowing he didnt like her using the computer cause she was not good with working them.

She looked into his eyes and smiled. She always loved him from the moment her eyes meet his something in her clicked. He was the world to her she didnt know what would have happened if he hand not of decided to help her. She also knew part of her hear still belonged the Nathaniel and she knew nothign could be done to fix it. She just hoped nothign would come of that love. Nothing that could break Lyrics heart. She could feel the weight of the locket that she never took of in the 6 years she had known Lyric it never came off. She knew she should take it off but she never did.

Lyric stared at Celest a moment, then nodded his head. "I suppose you can use the computer," he thought it over a moment. He was not exactly happy that she would need to use his technology, but he understood completely why she would need to use it in this moment. If she did not already have the song then she would need it to learn it well enough to sing it before a large crowd at the ball that weekend. "Let me just put in the password, and try not to spill anything on the keyboard this time..." he made a soft gentle face as if he were serious but playing around with her all at the same time, it was actually really cute.

~*~*~*~

After a few hours, Nathaniel stopped playing with his locket and asked a maid where he could locate the peasant girl he sent her to earlier. She gave him an address and he left the place in a very nice car. He flew down the streets before he was in thew worst part of the kingdom, and was soon at her door step with her hand knocking gently on her door. By this time it was very late out.

Lyric nodded, watching her wander away from him through the halls and out the front door. It seemed that the invitation had brought her back to the same emotional status she had been in when he asked her to stay at his house until she figured something else out. Of course within that amount of time he had fallen in love with the runaway and she returned that love enough to leave them together in the small house.

Deciding to give her some space, Lyric went into the kitchen to find out what his sister was making for dinner. She told him of her day in the garden and how all the flowers were feeling great. She also told him that she was making meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. It was one of her favorite dishes, though Lyric would prefer steak. He took in a deep breath and started to set the table as dinner was finishing up. He heard the door open and close and glanced up. "Everything alright?" he asked.

Aurora glanced over at Lyric once more before turning around completely to grab some of the dinner and placed it on the counter-top closest to the table. Her eyes were scanning everything, a normal habit for her when she was thinking, before raising them back up to Celest. "That sounds alright..." her voice was soft. "I can play the piano, so that you can hear the song in that way while you sing it..." she added. Then thought a little more on the dress shopping. "I'm not good a shopping, but I'll try to help."

"Well that is nice of you, Aurora, to help her out..." Lyric said with a soft smile. "I'm glad to see you willing to leave the house tomorrow." He would thank Celest later for trying so hard these past six years to make his sister get out of the house, and now it seemed to work. She was actually going to try and go shopping with his woman. It also gave him the opportunity to do something he was meaning to do for some time. He just smiled though. "Is dinner ready then?" he asked.

"U-u-uh, yeah." Aurora nodded her head and turned the stove off. "It's done."
