Lilly Rinn's Story

A flutter of excitment went through me. Wow. NEver thought I would be going that ball. Every one in the town has been talking about it for ages! Despite me screaming and jumping on the inside I smile and stood up. "I would love to." I said toward him. His red hair was some what gleaming in the light.

Lyric thought about it and nodded. "I guess you are right." He looked out toward the lake and then took the sandwich that was made for him and held it to his lips for a moment. "You've never really told me why you showed up that night... in my office." He glanced over at her. "Its been almost six years."

Nathaniel lifted his hand and held hers in his own before standing up himself. "Then I look forward to you arrival this weekend for the festivities. I'll send an invite to you at once Miss..." he was at a loss of words. "Oh how rude of me, my name is Nathaniel Raven-Crest, son of the Raven-Crest family. And you are m'lady?" he asked, bowing his head down slightly.

"Oh-" I couldn't help the sound escape my mouth. Ravencrest. that was the family holding the ball! "My name is Lilly Rinn." I said after a moment. I realized that my hand was with his and I blushed madly. I tok up my hand tried to somewhat wipe it away, hoping Nathaniel didn't see it. What if I make a total fool of myself? my mind worried.

Lyric nodded his head. He was hoping that one day the two of them would get along, but even after six years, Aurora still did not speak to Celest very often. At dinner she started to open up lately, talking to Lyric once more, but would not say much to the woman that was sharing the house. He took in a deep breath. "I hope so too. I fear that if she doesn't warm up to someone else then she'll never have a chance in this life," he stated, looking the ranch house over before seeing his sister in the garden. Her short dark hair ruffling up in the wind as she moved about the lilies with ease. It was not often that he would actually spot her in the garden, but today they were coming home a bit early.

"Aurora," Lyric called out to her once they were even closer to the great oak that stood right outside the lovely white and brown home. The girl looked up with her deep sunken in grey eyes and a small smile played on her lips. Today she was wearing a lovely blue bow, which apposed the usual bright red in her dark hair. She stood up and then held out a silvery white and blue envelope with some gold on it.

"Mail..." she said timidly, looking at her brother and doing a quick glance toward Celest before holding it out toward her. "For you both..." she parted it so that there were two invites.

"Lilly," he grasped her hand before she could swipe it away and then brushed his lips against the back. "It has been a pleasure meeting you Miss Rinn. I will pick you up for the ball in a few days. The invites will be coming out soon." He smirked when he saw the blush on her face once more. "Good-day." He added before pulling away from her and fading into the crowded street heading home. He then looked over the invites that had been made up.

"Where have you been?" his mother asked, walking into the study room he claimed.

"Finding a date to the dance, Mother. I think you'll like her." Nathaniel stated, when he approved the invites and added one more address to a Miss Lilly Rinn. His mother just looked him up and down and shook her head. He chuckled and watched as the maids moved away taking all the invites and heading out into the world to deliver them. All of the deliveries were soon made, with one maid waiting patiently on Lilly Rinn's door as asked to hand deliver it to her personally.

When Nathaniel had disapeared into the crowd my heart was pounding so hard I could swear that some one could hear it. A dress! Father wouldn't mind. We never really use money except to pay bills. And we always ha plenty left over from him being a butcher. So when I saw Naniel disapear I made my way to the silk's shop and got some long red sik with black imbroudery. Iwent home and started working on the dress. Father just glanced at it and shook his head, mumbling, "Children these days.." I chuckled a littl bit then I heard a knock on the door. My father went to go open it and there was a maid holding a invite I beleive? I stood up quickly, setting down my almost finished dress. "Who's-" My father srted but I rushed in front of him. "Can I help you?" I asked, slightly pushing my father away.

The maid glanced back and forth between the two, seeing that the father was just pushed. "A special delivery from Nathaniel RavenCrest, to the winter ball," the maid stated, her voice on the verge of stuttering, but she managed to say everything clearly without falter. She held the invite out toward the woman. "For a Miss Lilly Rinn?" she made it more of a question because she was not sure if this woman here was the Lilly Rinn that her master had told her about.

I smiled at her. “Yes, I’m Lilly. Thank you.” I said politely also cutting my father out of saying, “What winter ba-“ I closed the door slowly so it wouldn’t be like I was slamming the door in her face. I turned towards my father with a smile on my face. “Daddy can I go to the RavenCrest Winter Ball?” I asked in the most angelic voice I could. “GUH!” He growned. “I guess, Is that what the dress was for?” he asked. I nodded hurriedly. “Just don’t get killed.” He half grumbled, half joked. “Yes daddy!” I said and went to finish the dress.

Lyric smiled at his sister. "What does the blue bow mean?" Lyric asked, as he gently pulled the invite out of his sister's hands and then wrapped an arm around her shoulder. He watched as Celest quickly entered the house and went to her room. Perhaps she had something she wanted to get, or perhaps the invite was a little more than what she had expected.

"Joy," his sister brought his attention back to her. "I was having fun in the garden, and I'm not so sad today, I can only hope that means joy..." She snuggled into her brother's arms and then gently pulled away. "I must return, my plants are calling me. I hope you have fun at your... dance..." Aurora gave him a soft smile, so soft that it could almost be said to be a normal face, but Lyric knew better. His sister was actually happy for once. He then flipped the invite over and opened it to see what it said.

We've heard great news about your writing abilities and this is
the first ball ever thrown by Nathaniel, the son of the Raven-

The journalist was pleased to see that his invite was basically an invitation for recording the ball down and reporting it to the world. He was excited to tell Celest that he had been invited with this in mind. He took in a deep breath and started into the house.

"Celest?" Lyric entered the house and put his invite on the front desk near the door, where they put most of their mail now. "Celest, everything alright in there?" he started toward their room. They had only started sharing a room a couple of months ago, but she still had her own room in case she needed some alone time. When he opened the door to their own room he noticed that she was not in there. "Celest?" he then knocked lightly on her door.

I had finished the dress by nightfall. I had finally opened the letter and started reading, my father over my shoulder. "Nathaniel RavenCrest, huh?" He said after reading the letter. "Isn't that the- Ugh!" He groaned. "What have I let you go to? I'm already regretting it." He joked, I think. But instead of letting him joke around some more I went to my room and laid down. The dress was finished, I got the invite, and I already know what I'm going to do with my hair. Why did ll of this seem like a fairy tale?

Lyric stared at Celest a moment, then nodded his head. "I suppose you can use the computer," he thought it over a moment. He was not exactly happy that she would need to use his technology, but he understood completely why she would need to use it in this moment. If she did not already have the song then she would need it to learn it well enough to sing it before a large crowd at the ball that weekend. "Let me just put in the password, and try not to spill anything on the keyboard this time..." he made a soft gentle face as if he were serious but playing around with her all at the same time, it was actually really cute.

After a few hours, Nathaniel stopped playing with his locket and asked a maid where he could locate the peasant girl he sent her to earlier. She gave him an address and he left the place in a very nice car. He flew down the streets before he was in thew worst part of the kingdom, and was soon at her door step with her hand knocking gently on her door. By this time it was very late out.

Nathaniel shook his head with a smile on his face. "Not a problem," he stated, rubbing the back of his head with a smile. "Your father will be displeased that you lied to him, but I understand the meaning." he stated, noting the words on the note that was left on the fridge. He had left such notes for his family at times before as well, but never lying about his location, just lying about what he was up to. Now that he was of age to do as he please though, he often didn't lie to his mother, who watched him like a hawk.

"Oh," I giggled and slightly itched my neck as I do so when I'm nervice. I took a step down onto the grass with my black sneakers.The night was some what cold but the stars gave a luminous glow. "Where do you want to go, Nathaniel?" I asked turbing to him, my black fitted jeens seemed to be hugging me and my shirt, now aware that some one was infront of me felt to tight. Wow. I am really self-concious...

Lyric smiled at Celest's comment on Aurora's cooking, because his sister started to glow again when she placed everything on the table for everyone to eat. It was not often that he saw his sister so happy, unless the flowers were telling her good stories. He took his spot at the table. "That's why she cooks and I watch... we'd have burnt soup if I was cooking." He laughed and Aurora chuckled.

"I was thinking back to my house. I have a room ready for you, and dinner should be just about ready for the two of us. The event is only a day or so away, so I figured you could stay until the event was over?" Nathaniel asked, watching her carefully as he started back toward town where they had met.

"Oh, um, alright." Lilly said sweetly as she got into the expensive looking car. "I guess I'll call my dad later." Lily murmered she looked around at the stars. Thinking of how she would get the dress. Oh, well, she would just go by there later and get it.

Lyric nodded. "I guess you are right about that. perhaps I should spend a little more time with you, Aurora." he turned his bright emerald gaze to his sister after starting the conversation with his love. He gave her a bright smile to go with his lovely eyes. She nodded his head. "Horses then?" he asked, knowing her passion for the large beasts after what happened to their father. She found them a blessing from God to have taken out the worst evil in her life. "Great." Then he turned his attention to his love. "Perhaps you should take her out tomorrow though. I can take some time working with the horses while you are out on the town."

Nathaniel told the driver where to take them, and so they were off. He was not sure what to say to the woman. It would be rude to tell her anything about his past, or so he thought. Then he smiled at her gently. "so Lilly, what are your hobbies?" He hoped that the two of them would become very close by the weekend. Though he was sure his passion for Celest was still to strong to hold any true feelings next to him, but he did not let this show on his features.

Lilly pondered the question for a moment. She had many different hobbies. "Well, I play the flute and piano. I enjoy acting and playing sports." She said after another moment. She felt nervice, it was not often that she would be around men. Just her friend Samuel and Jace a long time ago. Now all she ever hung out with was Amanda. "How about you, tell me some of you're hobbies." She said softly, letting herself relax.

Lily giggled slightly. Relaxing a little bit. She knew it was none of her business and knew well than to ask. The locket around his neck was beautiful. Made of white gold with a sapphire placed in the middle. "Shame I'm not a good singer." She some what lied. Her friends had said that she was actually a very good singer but she never had believed them.

Lyric gave her eyes of concern and worry along with happiness. He was happy that his sister was opening up, but he was worried for the reason. It was odd that his sister was so open and happy around the two of them. It was normally himself that had to work to get his sister in a good mood, but today was a good day. It was a miracle to see her like this.

Aurora tightened her grip on Celest's hand then lead her out the door and past the garden. Lyric followed behind them a bit. Then watched as the young woman opened a shed next to the garden that she had cleaned up and made into a small art room. A blank canvas was set up with colors surrounding it along with other paint utensils. "Do you like it?" she asked, looking at the paint room which over saw the pasture and the gardens.

"I bet you have a beautiful voice," Nathaniel pulled his hand away from the locket and wrapped it around Lilly's hands. "Something as beautiful as you must have a voice to show." He added before they came up to his mansion. He opened her door for her and waited for her to get out. "We are here..." he mentioned.

Lily blushed when he took her hands. Then the manor came in view, ruining the moment. Although she was hopeful he didn't see her blush, witch it seemed was easy to spot on her pale white face. The manor was beutiful, decorated with so many things it took her awhile to get them all crammed in her head. He opened the door for her, making her feel a bit more special. "We are here..." He mentioned and Lily squeazed out, careful not to slip or something she was sure to do when she was excited. "It's beutiful..." She mumbled, eyes sparkiling. "I meen I knew the Ravencrest family was wealthy but this... this is amazing." She said, glancing at all the scenes.
