The kingdom of Eldin a great and powerful country ruled by a noble council. The country was at peace with itself and the kingdoms around it. In the time of peace a tradition started that every winter on the day that the countries was finally announced and found to be true a party was thrown. members from each of the noble families attended other important people from all over the kingdom always showed. Ever year the party seemed to become more and more famous.

Celest walked up to a small newspaper. She had a small cooler in her hands with some sandwiches and drinks. She had her hair pulled back in a messy pony tail and her bangs loosely behind her ear. She had light jeans on a grey jacket and a bright light green shirt under it with boot. She looked around for a moment and smiled pulled out her cell phone and leaned back against the wall in the front. She watched Lyric from his office as she called him. She waited patiently for him to answer his cell.

Lyric fumbled around the office suddenly when his phone began ringing under all of his papers. He had just gotten the newspaper out with the information on the winter ball approved by himself before he was bothered. He tossed and turned around all the mountains of paper and smirked, when he found the cell with his girl's name flashing on the top of it. He took in a deep breath and answered the phone. "You're not stalkin' me again are you darlin'?" he asked, his voice soothing like velvet as he spoke over the phone to her. Now that he had the phone only the top of his dark black-brown hair could be seen from the window.

Meanwhile, in the large castle like structure of the RavenCrest family, Nathaniel was working with some of his servants to come up with the perfect invitations to the winter dance. His hands nervously ran over his deep-red hair that was spun into the perfect braid over his shoulder. It was beautiful against the white dress shirt he was currently wearing over top black pants while he thought. His emerald eyes scanned over all the different colors for the invitations, but still he was having trouble. His mother had suggested red and green, the traditional sense of Christmas, to the winter party, but he wanted to make a love romance this year, and red and green just did not seem to make that happen.

He took in a deep breath and decided on a silvery-blue with gold trim and golden letters on each. He then told her how he wanted them to look before she took off to make them all. Soon he would have to sign his name to all 1000 copies of his invites with his name: Nathaniel RavenCrest... Oh he was so excited when he thought about signing the invites. He could feel a rush of excitement run up his spine just before he did a little dance and laughed. "Oh this is going to be great!" Nathaniel stated before walking out of the large foyer into the halls of his home.

I tryed my best to scrub out the blood stains. What does my father do in the house to get so bloody? I wiped some of the remaining sweat dribles from my forhead and stood up. Whiping away the dirt stains. I sloshed in the bucket and set it down, noticing my father asleep on the scruched up couch. Hmm. I wonder what life might be like if mother took me as well as Alex? Oh well. I set down the tub with a thud and father swooshed of the couch yelling "Ahhh!" I rolled my eyes and went out, I can't wait until this ball. I hope I would be invited! But then again, I don't really have the best of luck.

She laughed softly. "maybe but then i though you took your lunch break right about now yet you still seem to be at your desk" as she spoke she slowly walked over to the door of his office and knocked on the little pain of glass. "you work way to much sometimes you know that right" She held up the cooler so it was see able from the desk and smiled. "lunch?" She waited for his response one of her bangs slipping from behind her ear laying softly against her cheek. She hung up the phone making it so he would have to open the door to answer her.

She was glad she came by with lunch or he might not have taken a break. She sighed softly thinking to herself. He never takes a rest ever sometimes he even stays up till odd times of night just to get a paper written. She hoped that the bigger the paper got the more people he could hire and the less he would have to take on and do himself. She had even joked once that she should quit her job at the flower shop and come help with the paper.

Lyric glanced over at the glass when she knocked on it and smiled, his blue eyes gleaming. He put the cell into his back jean pocket, and fixed his stripped blue dress shirt before opening the door with an ear to ear smile. "Of course I would love to have lunch with you. Actually," he looked back at the office. "I sent everyone home early and was just about to leave myself. Paper is done already, and should have hit the stores by now. Job well done." He chuckled, knowing that his half days were always on the of the bests, cause then he was able to stay with Celest much longer than his normal work days. It was true he was always busy, but when it came to his girl, he always managed to make time for her when she asked or needed him.

"Where would you like to eat that?" he pointed at the cooler she had in her hands.

Nathaniel decided to head out for a little air, making his way into the commoner's area outside his own large home and court-yard. Once he got word about the invites being finished he would return to sign them, and send them out to all of his lovelies.

She walked over put the cooler down and hugged Lyric kissed softly. "well if you are free the rest of the day want to go have lunch at the park its a bright beautiful day out and i would really love to get you out of this office you spent to much time in here as it is" smiled softly. "what do you say lunch in the park?"

Lyric kissed her cheek softly, then glanced around at the beautiful blue cloudless skies, and emerald grasses that lead up to yellow-golden trees with specks of read to hint to the middle of fall. He could not have agreed with her more. The day was just breath taking, and it was odd to be this warm, must have been and Indian Summer, the thought before picking up the blue cooler, and wrapping his large hand over her smaller one. "A park lunch sounds great, I need to get my mind off of the paper anyway." He stated, his voice still sounding like warm velvet before he lead the way toward the nearest park.

"How was the floral shop today?" he asked, knowing her passion for the natural plants.

The commoner square never seemed to be bustling with happy sing song foak. Actually i was quite the oppisite, people walking slowly with a sullen gloom to them. In fact I bet I looked the cheeriest one there. My shoes clacked on the bricks as I went to the plaza, looking at random, pretty jems I knew I wouldn't be able to buy. Instead I sat down and scanned the crowd, looking for anything or anyone to talk to. Theonly thing I had to do was talk to my father and he was always so gloomy. I noticed a man that stuck out a little. He seemed richer then most men here. He's probably just on a stroll I told myself and went back to scanning the crowd.

She smiled walking out with him. She was slightly confused at the fact he was so happy with the getting away from work. It was nice but weird especially for him. "Well he got an order for the biggest wedding in town and a whole lot of wrist corsages cause the school dances are coming up so it was busy" She laughed softly "and we had a special order of daisies for an anniversary the shop smelled so good after we got them into the store"

"Sounds so much better than the papers surround my desk," he smiled. Sometimes he hated the office, because it had nothing more than busy men trying to scramble something out of their brain to write on paper and put out in the public eye. He found the path to the park, passing the plaza and then found an nice spot on a hill under a willow tree, just in view of the clear blue lake in the near distance. "How about this?" he asked.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel walked about the plaza looking a little petty gems that were nothing compared to the jewels that he saw his mother put on her wrist, ears, and neck. He scoffed at the though of anyone wanting something so dull, when he could apparently bring them something more worth their wild. He then noticed that the crowd around him were all about their daily routine. Some children tried to pull their parents away from their activities to look at the handsome rich man, but they only shushed them and told them it was rude to stare at the rich. Though Nathaniel, unlike his RavenCrest family, did not mind the attention of children and their poor class families.

Deciding that the solemn looks that the crowds carried on their face was too much for him to take anymore, Nathaniel started to head toward his house again when he spotted a woman who seemed out of place on her little black bench. She was pretty, and happy, unlike all the others. He decided that perhaps it was time to ask someone to accompany him to the dance, but the thought only made him shake his head. Perhaps he should find out more about her first, and so he started toward the bench with his head down before sitting down when her attention was caught on some couples bickering. He cleared his throat and smirked, "Odd how they are all gloomy, and you curiously scan each of them... is there a reason why?"

I slightly glanced at the richer man, blushing. I drew my attention back to him, how did he get there? “It's something to do in a boring town like this.” I said with a smile towards him. It wasn't often a rich man comes to this district. I slightly noticed how dirty my dress was and felt more heat travel to my cheeks. I slightly scolded myself for being such a mess and traveling to town.

"Boring?" he glanced around at some of the playing children, and women shopping for either clothing or groceries in the open market. He loved it even more now that the pumpkins had made their way into the market, bring a flare of orange that was normally green. Usually when he traveled to this district he was in plain clothes so to fit in a little more, but to get himself a little more relaxed about the party, he decided to just head out as he was. "I don't see anything boring about this."

"Other than the dull gems..." he added, then glanced over at her. "Why so red... you're not ill now are you?" he asked, his voice soft and light, almost playful.

I bit my lower lip hard. That only brought on more blushing. Damit! Stop blushing! I shreiked at myself in my head. I looked away at the bustle of the plaza. "Well, when you come here everyday, you get used to it." I said and trailed off. Looking at some children stairing at him wide eyed as if they have never seen a rich man before. "And it's the sun, must be giving me a burn." I lied, trying to sound a bit more playful myself. He didn't seem like one of those stuck up rich boys who act like there better than everyone. No, he seemed to have a bit of life in him.

She smiled and sat down in the grass. "oh its perfect" looked back up a lyric. "i could get you guys a nice set of many looking plants to put around the office it might help a little or maybe you guys should get the walls painted something other then that boring grey color" she laughed softly. She was always messing with him about the color of his office walls. She pulled the cooler gently from his hand and set it down opening it up "i was not sure about what type of sandwich you would want to i packed all the stuff to make them and i remembered the knife for spreading the mustard and mayo." She pulled a set of drinks out and handed one up to him.

Nathaniel glanced around the small town, watching people try to get everything done while the sun was still up and smiled. Then he turned his eyes toward the sun and back at the young girl's face. "The sun can do that to a person?" he cocked his head to one side and chuckled. "Interesting." Then he stood up and nodded his head toward the girl. "It seems like you need a little cheering up... I'm having a winter ball here soon, would you like to accompany me?" he asked her.

*~*~*~

Lyric grabbed the Cola and sat down on the blanket he finished putting on the ground. He smiled at her gently. "Ah, that is great," he said softly, waiting for her to maker herself something to eat before even thinking about making himself something. He then thought about the plants around the office and chuckled. "I'm not sure Ricky-Bobby would be happy with flowers around the office. In fact I think I would have to put him down... Just to shut him up." He laughed slightly.

((Sorry about being so late. Been extremely busy this week...))

She laughed slightly and got out the sandwich stuff making herself a sandwich and looked at him. "true that might not be the best what do you want on the sandwich ill make it for you" She smiled she knew the boys at the newspaper would hate flowers but she could always try ivy or something like that. She looked around at the hill side. It was a bright calm day not much wind it was nice and warm. She smiled she was happy the paper was done for the week that meant she had Lyric to herself for once.

"Turkey, lots of veggies, light on the mayo..." Lyric stated his usual sandwich. He was a veggie man, not much of a meat person, but knew how important it was for his body and continued to eat it even though he was not entirely a fan. "Have you heard anything about the winter ball that the Raven-Crest family sets up?" he asked, knowing she was of royal blood from one failure attempt to meet the parents. He was not sure though if that meant she would be invited to go or not. "Or is it still up in the air?" he asked.

She paused for a moment hearing the name. She took a small breath and finished his sandwich and handed it to him. "no i have not heard anything yet, not really expecting anything from them any time soon." She looked at him "i know how much of an opportunity it would be for the news paper if we where able to attend but i dont think that they really will be inviting me we did not last speak on the best of terms and well you meet my family everyone at the ball would not really be anything different." She kissed his cheek before taking a bite of her sandwich.

A flutter of excitment went through me. Wow. NEver thought I would be going that ball. Every one in the town has been talking about it for ages! Despite me screaming and jumping on the inside I smile and stood up. "I would love to." I said toward him. His red hair was some what gleaming in the light.

Lyric thought about it and nodded. "I guess you are right." He looked out toward the lake and then took the sandwich that was made for him and held it to his lips for a moment. "You've never really told me why you showed up that night... in my office." He glanced over at her. "Its been almost six years."

~*~*~*~*~*~

Nathaniel lifted his hand and held hers in his own before standing up himself. "Then I look forward to you arrival this weekend for the festivities. I'll send an invite to you at once Miss..." he was at a loss of words. "Oh how rude of me, my name is Nathaniel Raven-Crest, son of the Raven-Crest family. And you are m'lady?" he asked, bowing his head down slightly.

Lyric was shocked by her response. He honestly believed only half of what she said, knowing by the way she was casting her eyes down that there was more going on that stormy night than she was accounting for, but he understood hardships and trying to leap over bounds to talk to the other about it. It was one of the hardest things he had ever done, talking to her about his abusive father and his sister that rarely came down stairs from the attic. Though she knew him now, six years had warmed him up enough to tell her the worst in his life, but he was willing to wait and see how long it took her. "The sun is going to start going down soon... perhaps we should head home?" he asked.

Celest looked up and smiled. "Yeah i think we should." She started to back up the food and plates. When she finished she stood up and moved the small cooler off of the blanket so Lyric could fold it up. She looked around at the meadow below. She sighed softly to herself. She wondered what would happen if she really told him what was going on. Would he still feel the same love for her, or would he freak out about the fact that the ball he so much wanted to go to so he could write a report about it for the newspaper was the place only 6 years ago that she had been told she was engaged. She knew it was a silly thing to worry about it but to her it seemed like a nightmare.

The maids around the Raven-Crest family mansion were searching everywhere for their master Nathaniel. His inventations were completely done, and one of them had managed to put them all on his desk with his signature, but they wanted to make sure that it was exactly how he had envisioned before they sent them out into the public. But of course Nathaniel was not found anywhere, making their job rather difficult. His mother told them to just watch his room and await his arrival for whatever may happen.

-------

Lyric watched her pack everything back up into the blue cooler and then shook his head. He took in a deep breath and then went after her downt he hill toward their home in the lower-class part of town. He did not know how she felt on his farm, and it was never clear how she felt about his past. But he was not worried about any of that because he had managed to keep her at his side for six years, so what could go wrong now? Surely, her parents would not cause them any problems, or even the RavenCrest Ball. "I'm sorry..." he caught up to her, lacing his fingers around hers. "I shouldn't have asked."
