"I've cried enough tears to see my own reflection in them."
{ My Everything | Ariana Grande}

History:
Born in India, Henry had a sad childhood in the slums. His dad was an English businessman who lived in Australia, while his mother was an Indian prostitute. He would often steal and cause havoc in Delhi. He never attended school but he taught himself how to read and write as well as speak English.

When he was 13, his mother died from lung cancer from all the pollution around her. His father then was willing to take him in where he was then sent to live in Australia. He attended high school and did quite well for someone who did not attend school as a child.

He wanted to be an artist so he spent his time painting and sketching while his father wanted him to learn business so he could take over the family business. Instead, he would inherit the money from his father.

After he finished his senior year, he decided to go off and do a set of paintings that would be based off of Mako Island. But he was unprepared for what would happen next.

Full Moon
Friday night
Partly cloudy, chilly with little wind.
Mermaids of Mako Island are celebrating the full moon on the far side of the island unseen by human eyes.

Image

Nina loved the full moon not only because it was what gave the mermaids their power, coupled with Mako, but it was beautiful. A large beautiful rock surrounded by stars that helped it brighten the sky. During this time mermaids of Mako gathered in circles in the water and sang songs together. It was a celebration of the moon, and Nina couldn't wait for it to begin.

She swam towards Mako, from her daily exploring, and entered the moon pool where there were a few other mermaids from her pod. "Have you guys seen O? She asked them but each shook their head and continued with their conversation. Without another word Nina left the moon pool and rose to the surface of the ocean. The moon was going to rise soon and the two friends always saw the first sight of the moon together.

Amber was busy preparing for her camping trip to Mako island. She checked to make sure she had everything and double checked. She would keep checking until she was ready to leave. Her friend Colin was supposed to meet her at the pier, he was the only one with a boat that they could use for the night since her father wouldn't let her use his. She threw her bag over her shoulder and her tent and sleeping bag over the other. Carefully decending down the stairs, careful not to fall, she dropped her things at the front door.

"Dad, I'm going!" She yelled from the door. She didn't have to wait even a second before her dad came walking through the living room from the kitchen with a towel in his hands. He smiled at her "Have fun sweetie. No funny business, and don't go in the water. Sharks might get you." Amber couldn't help but chuckle, ever since she was little he warned her about the sharks around Mako but they never bothered them. "Bye Daddy." She said giving him a kiss and picked up her bags again.

She opened the door and walked out into the cool air and smiled, it was going to be a perfect night for camping. She was in a great mood until she got down the porch steps and heard her dad come out onto the porch, "Be home early, your mom is coming to get you tomorrow afternoon and you still need to pack." He yelled after her. She didn't even acknowledge him but she knew that he knew that she'd hear what he said. She'd been putting off packing for her weekend with her mother. She'd convinced her mother to allow her to go camping tonight since technically this was the beginning of the weekend which was usually the day she was forced to get in a car with her mother and make a half an hour to her mothers house where she lived with that joke of a new husband she hated just as much as she hated her own mother if not more.

Once she reached the pier she placed her things down and pulled out her phone to send a text.
To Colin
You had better be on your way. Dont make me wait too long or I'll swim there and live there forever.

She smirked at the text and pressed send, she was being a little bitchy but she just wanted to get away from her problems for the moment, plus he was late anyway.

"How did you find this sandwich shop anyway? ]They literally have the best ham and cheese sandwiches the Earth has ever seen!"[/color] Morgan giggled, twirling around the seaside shopping area. Before the two were going to spend a day on Mako Island. They decided to have dinner together at the local sandwich shop.

Henry was very nervous about the occasion, in fact he didn't even finish his sandwich. Morgan happily ate his, of course. "I don't know Morgan, I doubt I'll be able to finish the sketches on time." He sighed, rubbing his hands together. "I mean you know that I keep things under control," his thick Indian accent was evident in his voice. "I can't help but judge my own work."

She rolled her cerulean orbs and grabbed his hand. "Come on, Mister Nice Guy. If you won't stop with your squabbling, we'll miss the ferry!" She dragged Henry along the pier, making their way to a ferry that made its rounds to Mako Island at least once a day, but only at night. She pulled the tickets out of her gray backpack and scoffed. "Did it really cost $40 in total for both of our tickets!?"

"$51 in Indian money," Henry commented, giving a polite smile to one of the crew members.

"We're in Australia," she huffed, rolling her eyes as she climbed the stairs towards the upper deck. Henry was close behind her. Her eyes widened as she looked up at the sky. "Holy shit," she whispered as she looked at the full moon. Its reflection hit the splashing waves in an almost perfect manner.

Henry knew that the sunsets in India were better than anything, but the full moon was quite memorable. His eyes widened in awe as he looked at the night sky. It was an artist's dream, filled with many stars and he was sure he could see Venus. "You're right, it's beautiful." He commented, taking a seat near the ledge, while Morgan sat next to him in the aisle seat. "I think we're the only ones going."

"I wouldn't be surprised," she responded. "I don't get why they have this giant ass ferry for an unpopular island. What a waste of money." Morgan rolled her eyes, leaning back into her seat as the boat took off.

"Attention passengers, welcome aboard the Queensland Pride! I am Captain Georges and I will be taking you to Mako Island. The ride will be approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, so sit back and enjoy!"

Henry yawned, putting an arm around Morgan. He knew that she didn't mind. She was probably the gayest thing on the planet and Henry's heterosexual charms did not faze bed. But she was one of his close friends, besides Colin and Amber. His face flushed as he thought about Amber. He had liked her for a long time, but he didn't know how she felt about him. He was too scared to confront her.

The two looked up at the night sky. It was truly a moment to bond over as the two liked astronomy and joined the Astronomy club too. Morgan could see the Big Dipper and possibly a bit of Orion's Belt but she was too tired to talk. Once they got to the island they would have to start hiking to their camping spot.

Morgan wasn't listening as Henry dragged on and on about what happened in May when a freshman told him she liked him and how it was super awkward. Henry's straightness really got on her nerves sometimes. Ever since her break up with Marie, things hadn't been the same. She was constantly questioning her self worth. Morgan coughed uncomfortably.

"Morgan," he called out. "Are you even listening to me?"

"To be honest, I'm not," she shrugged. Her cerulean orbs darted towards the sea. She always wondered what was down there. Perhaps there were other life forms similar to humans that lived in the great depths of the sea. She wasn't talking about mythical sea creatures. The girl was an amateur scientist who had no love for anything that wasn't "factual."

Henry was the same way, he hated the stories his mother used to tell him because they weren't real. He didn't want to break her heart of course, so he pretended he liked them. "How long until we get there? It feel like years since we left."

"It feels like," she corrected him, emphasizing the word 'feels.'

"I know, I was just messing with you." He reached his hand over and ruffled the brunette's hair. He remembered when he had horrible English. He knew vocabulary but had horrible sentence structure. He would always get laughed at for short hard-to-understand phrases. Morgan winced, swatting his hand away,

"Stop it." She grit her teeth, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.

"I don't want to, cause it's funny to see you annoyed." He grinned.

"Whatever," the teenage girl huffed, looking out front of them. It was hard to see at night. She didn't know how ships navigated themselves in the dark. They probably had some fancy GPS system or a government organization that tracked the boats and gave them directions. It was stupid thinking, but she couldn't help it.

Colin barely suppressed his laughter. "I think I can arrange that." If anyone was fit to make Amber late and annoy her mother, it was Colin. Now, Colin hardly knew the woman, and he'd only even met the new boyfriend briefly once or twice; but Amber hated them and that was enough for Colin, teenage solidarity and all. Besides, they robbed the poor girl of weekend fun time, and that was just rude. Utterly deplorable behavior, as far as Colin was concerned. What good was a weekend if you couldn't spend it enjoying life with your friends? They even took away her phone- the horror! Colin couldn't imagine. Of course, Colin's parents, unconventional as they were, spoiled all their kids rotten more often than not, so just about any form of strictness would seem unfair to him.

"Darn right I do!" he agreed triumphantly. He'd probably be making it up to her for the rest of the night, in any way he could, even though technically this time it really wasn't his fault he was late. That reminded him, though- didn't Henry mention something about a project he needed to go to Mako for? He knew Henry liked Amber, and although he wasn't 100% certain, he got the feeling Amber liked Henry too. This could be the perfect opportunity to whip out his wingman skills. The boy was a little busy minding the boat, though, and wasn't actually sure his friend would be at the island.

When they reached Mako, Colin hopped into the water and dragged the small boat about halfway onto the beach, then dropped the anchor just in case. His dad was always warning him not to mess the boat up scraping it on rocks or anything, so he didn't want to try to bring it all the way onshore, but it would be a lot worse if the boat managed to float out to sea without them in the night. He helped Amber get out without getting unnecessarily wet, then started unloading all their gear; he'd refuse any help from her on that task, as part of making it up to her. Once everything was unloaded, though, he pulled out his phone to send a text to Henry.
Hey man. You on Mako tonight or did I imagine that conversation?

Henry felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He rose a brow absent mindedly as he pulled it out of his pocket. It was from Colin. He smiled lightly, opening the text and then reading it. Morgan leaned over, taking a look at the text, "Ew Colin," the girl retorted. Henry rose a brow, merely laughing at her reaction. He did not wish to bother with her disliking to his best friend. Then again, Henry did have a crush on Amber.

"Too bad you're gay. Then we could have had a killer double wedding," Henry responded, feeling proud when the girl looked at him with disgust. Her features softened a bit once she saw the island in the distance. She got up from her seat, giving Henry a little shove before climbing down the steps. The male followed after her, "Did I piss you off? I'm sorry," he said quietly.

"Relax," the girl responded, crinkling her nose. It was true that Morgan was sensitive and tended to shut up whenever she didn't feel comfortable. She knew Henry was joking, but it still hurt a bit inside. They climbed off the boat onto the small dock and made their way onto the island. Morgan was surprised to find that it was just a dinky little dock that was about a few feet wide. Then again, the ferry didn't dock completely so they sort of had to "jump out."

Henry checked for cell service. He had about two bars, enough to send a text to Colin.

To Colin:
Yeah, Morgan and I just arrived on the ferry. Want to meet up? She refuses to talk to me because I told her that she could get married to you.

Morgan was watching him text the entire time. Her eyes narrowed as she attempted to take the phone from his hand, "You swine! Now he's going to make fun of me!" Henry let out a loud cry as the girl leaned over and bit his thumb. He was distracted, so Morgan snatched the phone from his hand and sent another text.

To Colin:
Ignore him, he's an ass. -M

Colin wrinkled his nose at the mention of Morgan, and sighed heavily when he received a text from her despite it being from Henry's phone. Sometimes he felt something for the girl, but other times, he thought anyone would be crazy to like her. She was always so rude, and thought she was better than everyone. Plus she seemed to hate him, and he never understood what he did to make her despise him so much. It wasn't like he was mean to her; he liked her half the time. Yet, she always seemed disgusted by his existed.

He was still looking at his phone when he responded to Amber, half involved in the conversation while the rest of his attention was focused on typing. "I say right where the forest meets the beach. We can use the trees for extra shelter just in case, plus you can lose service so your mom can't call, and we can still come hang out on the beach." Meanwhile, his smile was slightly returning.
What, no double wedding? That's a shame.
He looked up again when she continued. He was about to remind her that he had made it in less than two minutes so she wasn't supposed to have any extra s'mores, but he let it slide with a lighthearted chuckle. "Alright, just a sec." He sent another text quickly before sticking his phone back into his pocket.
Yeah, let's meet up! I'm camping with Amber on the west shore. ;)
When he was done texting, he jogged up toward the treeline to start setting up the tent, then a campfire.

Henry smiled down at his phone, responding with a quick 'okay.' He grabbed Morgan's hand and squeezed it, "They're down at the west end of the beach. Try not to be in a pissy mood okay?" He smirked, pulling the girl's hand and dragged her down the beach. Morgan scowled, yanking her hand away from his. The two walked in silence as they looked around for Amber and Colin.

"I was hoping that it would just be you and I. I'll be studying fish and you can sketch whatever the hell you want. I mean why couldn't we gone to a different island?" Morgan whined, rolling her eyes. She was stubborn and preferred to stick to the plan. The plan was Henry and Morgan camping time. There was no Amber and Colin. Although she loved her best friend, she had standards when it came to schedules and that.

"Mooorrgan," he pouted, seeing his two friends in the distance. "Yo! We're here!" he shouted to his two friends with a big smile on his face. He was mostly smiling at Amber though. The girl was mesmerizing but probably not into him. He knew he had a lot of flaws and was bullied constantly. If it weren't for Morgan, he'd probably still have no friends and hate every second of his life. Morgan gave her two friends a half hearted smile as she grabbed Henry's arm tightly and walked towards them. "Heya," she said quietly.

THe singing was Nina's favorite part of the celebration. After there were games and eating but the singing was the best part. O had suggested that Nori sang one of her own moon songs which wasn't a bad idea. No one else seemed to object and she began to sing. It was a beautiful song and everyone stayed quiet until the song was over. When it was Nina swam up to her That was great Nori, you'll really have to teach us that song. Then you won't have to sing alone next time! She said with a smile, she hoped Nori would teach them before the next full moon.

After the singing it was time for the feast but Nina wanted to get her new shell where it belonged. Nina smiled, "I have to put this shell with the others, She turned to Nori, "Would you like to see my collection? I have so many shells. I keep them in the moon pool. She said and dove underwater and swam towards the moon pool entrance. The entrance was hard to see if you didn't know where to look, there were lots of underwater plants covering the entrance. It wasn't like that before but the pod had feared humans would find it after a few had swam a little too close tot he entrance.

She swam through the vegetation and smiled when she rose to the surface of the pool. Inside was beautiful. The walls looked as if they were made of class and shimmered in the moonlight. Straight above the middle of the pool was the opening where the moon would pass over. A mermaid in the pool while the moon passed over was harmless, but you could always feel the magic coming from the moon. There were small step like stones all around the pool where the mermaids sat with only their tails in the water.

Nina swam to the right of the pool and pulled out one of few chests she had full of shells. She opened the chest and placed the shell on top of the many others inside. If you didn't know any better you would think most were just the same as others but they weren't, there was always a change in color, shape or design even if it was the smallest thing. Form time to time she would empty all of her chests and admire her shells as she washed them in the salt water.

"I say right where the forest meets the beach. We can use the trees for extra shelter just in case, plus you can lose service so your mom can't call, and we can still come hang out on the beach." Amber like that he knew just what she was thinking when it came to her mother. She chuckled and turned to him ready to respond but saw that he was focused on his phone "Who are you texting?" She asked, if she actually thought about it she'd have known it was Henry the two were as best of friends as she and Morgan were.

She found the perfect spot for their tents and began setting up her's. She climbed inside, allowing Colin to deal with the fire, and unrolled her sleeping bag. as she crawled out of her tent she gave a suggestion,Why don't we go exploring? There is a lot of this island we haven't seen yet." Once she was up off the ground again she noticed two people joining them. She smiled Morgan and Henry, she sent them both a smile and nudged Colin knowing that he had done this. He knew how she felt about Henry and he knew that Henry was the only thing that made her feel fuzzy?

Amber could also tell the Morgan wasn't expecting to be joining them. "Come on Morgan. We don't bite. She said jokingly, she then turned to Henry "What are you guys doing here anyway? Painting? She asked, Henry's painting were beautiful they were one of Amber's favorite things. She remembers the first time he let her see one, she was really amazed and she told him so.
