Introduction

Myths of the Forgotten

In this world there's a small town deep in the forest called Veraloia. It's a safe haven to the few mythical creatures that are still alive. Many races have become extinct when humans have destroyed the forests and the seas. There are no more fairies dancing around the pond in the moonlight, nor mermaids swimming deep in the ocean. Only handful of elves are still wandering the Earth, trying to find a forest that would still be pure, still be uninhabited by humans. The strongest, sneakiest, fastest and scariest races have survived. Kill or be killed. That's the rule you must follow in order to stay alive. But what will happen, when a rumor starts to spread? A rumor that these creatures still exist. Will the humans believe it? Will they go and hunt them? Will they try to get profit with their help? And what will the paranormals do, when humans are knocking on their door? Do they fight or escape? Do they want to cooperate?

Image

Setting
Veraloia is said to locate somewhere in the northern Europe, where there's still pure nature and areas where humans don't live but suits paranormals. Only few know that the town exist, and it's not easy to find as a magic barrier will try to confuse you and you will find yourself from the same place you left. It's said only those with pure heart are able to find the town.

This rp is set in the modern world, so weapons and other equipment must be from this world apart from few exceptions. Magic is also strong aspect and it's highly recommended that you read "Weapons, Technology and Magic -OOC" for detailed information.

Place descriptions and map are in the "Places -OOC."

H.O.N.
H.O.N. Stands for Heralds of Nature. It's a secret organization that hunts down mythical creatures and sells them - either dead or alive. They travel all over the world to find the last of survivors. The organization is well-hidden, only few chosen ones know it exists, however the members can be from all over the world. The members work in three person groups that are usually led by older member of the H.O.N. There can be hunters, medics, scouts etc. The organization itself is led by mysterious L that no one knows much about who inform groups by phone and never reveals his true personality. H.O.N has developed a special weapons against mythical creatures - however these weapons has their flaws. (Again please read "Weapons, Technology and Magic -OOC")

Characters

ImageYou can choose from five races of mythical creatures or humans. The more detailed description of the races, their skills and ability of magic you can find from "Mythical creatures -OOC". The CS can be also found from there.

Shapeshifter:
Shapeshifters have a human-form and animal form. They can have up to three different animal forms but only the strongest ones are able to control that many. Their characteristic depends on their main animal.

Tiefling:
Tieflings are half-demon, half-human. The humans have become a half-demon by a blood pact with a demon. They have an ability to control magic, depending on the pact either fire or ice.

Dwarf:
Fighting, drinking and eating is something dwarves hold high. They're strong but slow however the cover it with teamwork. Dwarves are the only ones who can forge mythical metal Naturite.

Valkyrie:
Winged female warriors. They have ability to fly and can also hide their wings to look almost like a human. A few selected among them can raise an army of ghosts.

Cerberus:
A three headed hellhound with ability of magic. They can control either fire, earth or shadow. Cerberus has no human form but they can change their size.

H.O.N.

October. Early morning. H.O.N office at Crambvoyak. Phone ringing demanding someone to answer.

As soon as the phone was lifted the person in the other end started to talk. ”It's L. I have a new client. Your shopping list is following. Two Cerberus tails. Minced and dried tiefling horns. And one Valkyrie. Alive.” That's all the voice said before hanging up.

The phone was put back down and a member of H.O.N. wrote the ”shopping list” on paper. He then walked downstairs to living quarters. It was a simple space with couple of couches and a tv. In corner was a small kitchen with tables, sink, and stove to cook food. The most luxurious part was that each member was allowed to have their own bedrooms for personal space but each two bedrooms shared same bathroom. He knocked on three doors to wake up one of the teams. ”James, Shane, Mila! Time to get work!” The man shouted a slided the piece of paper under the door to James' room.

Shena Savel

It was early morning, sun barely even risen yet when Shena was flying leisurely through the Alsangi Forest the spear in her hand as usual. In the chilly fall air the mist was floating above the ground as she was doing her usual round around the forest. She was looking for any sights of possible danger. Footprints, fabric from clothes, weird items, anything that might belong to humans. She hadn't had any luck that morning. Which was a good thing for the village but Shena was wishing to see at least something so the patrolling wouldn't be so awfully boring each time.

She arrived to the Verah Pond and landed down glancing to the sky. It was cloudy, might even rain later that day. Shena walked edge of the water kneeling down and took so water in her hands drinking. It was cold just like the air and ground, the winter was clearly coming soon. After drinking she stood up stretching and looked around her. Seeing no one she picked up her spear and starter running further away from the water as she struck the spear on ground swinging herself in the air and kicking the air before landing down. It was one of her morning routines to practice at the Pond when no one was bothering her.

Zollamairi

It had been a good night for Zollamairi.

It was still the wee hours of the morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise and the slim rays of light had entered the sky but had not yet quite filtered through the dense tree line. The mist that had settled, along with the dim light and mild chill of the morning, gave an eerie feeling to the forest - and rightfully so. This was the home to some of the last supernatural creatures in existence, Zollamairi included. They were all fleeing from creatures known as "humans" which were similar to imps in that they multiplied quickly and took over / looted vast areas. However imps were weak, fragile and unintelligent little pests whilst humans were not - this is why they prospered. As a whole, but even as individuals, humans better fit the definition of "monsters".

Humans were cruel, vile, unfeeling abominations who completely disregarded all others - including their own kind. They had no sense of compassion nor honor and were happy to commit murder (or worse) in order to fulfill their wicked desires. So greedy were these things that they had decided they must cover the earth so that no other creature could live. Then, when they'd accomplished that, they decided that this was still not enough and set out to extinguish these creatures altogether. Hunting them down and slaughtering them all, regardless of age or honor, then cutting apart their bodies and taking what they wanted before leaving the rest to rot away or burn. Zollamairi had seen it, had lived it, and had been forced to flee from it lest become another corpse to the burn pile.

Zolla, the center head, growled softly and both Lama and Iri joined in the the quiet sound in mutually agreement. Humans were the true monsters, they agreed. But, despite the disadvantage that all supernatural creatures (including Zollamairi) had been given by being forced to flee to this solitary forest hidden deep in the mountains, they were far from totally helpless. As if it reaffirm her point, Zolla sunk her fangs deeper into the object she was holding in her mouth and relished the taste and feel of hot human blood as it spilled into her mouth. Lama and Iri too were carrying the bodies of humans, one female and the other male, and they eyed the blood hungrily. The trio had not eaten for many days now, and as the sun rose above the tips of the trees and made their eyes water slightly, they were eager to return to their cave to enjoy their meal.

Just had the sun had come up and the mist was starting to disappear, they reached the cliffside hidden by heavy overgrown were they'd marked their territory. The dense brush that surrounded the area not only hid the stone underneath so thoroughly that Zollamairi had nearly missed it, but provided an excellent barrier against outsiders - unless a human were willing to be torn apart by the thorns and risk their limbs against the poisonous snakes who had their nests their, it was impossible for them to get past. Zollamairi, however, had fur and immunity to such venom and had quickly claimed the area.

Once past the brush, the stone walls of collapsed mountainsides made something similar to a maze and hide the rather small entrance to the cave that could easily go unnoticed. Inside the cave there was absolutely no light, no sound and air flow. It was damp and full of winding passages that seemed to go on for ages. Not only was getting to the entrance extremely difficult, but once inside the cave it would be all too easy for a human to lose their bearings and become hopelessly lost. It had happened twice before, judging by the old bones that Zollamairi had found the first time they explored the cave.

However, once past those two obstacles and upon entering the mouth of the cave, Zollamairi had no trouble finding the back cavern which they resided in. The ability to see perfectly in the dark as well as extremely sensitive noses had led them to a large underground cavern. Upon entering there was a large lake of crystal clear and freezing cold water, and across said lake was a large island upon which Zollamairi had made her bed using tuffs of fur and the shredded clothes of humans, all in a rather wide yet shallow indention in the ground. On the other side of the island, opposite to the entrance, sunken below the still water were the many many bones of humans. The flesh had been consumed by Zollamairi and the bones licked clean before being tossed into the water where the subzero temperatures had preserved them.

These human's bones would be no difference.

Making the leap from the entrance to the island, Zollamairi settled comfortably down before dropping the bodies and beginning to feast.

Mantra

The tunnel she crept through was barely big enough for Mantra to walk through. She ducked, slid, and stepped along the path through the tunnel and into a cave where she currently inhabited. She just finished stealing some weapons from a dwarf's shop on the outer range of the dwarf encampment around the Bronden mines. The sun was peeking out of the horizon now, illuminating the forest with a soft violet color, but before it was a black night with only a crescent moon to illuminate the lock on the door. She didn't like to break into the dwarf shops because they were unpredictably around the weapon shops when she didn't expect them. This time she got lucky and found just what she needed with no interruptions.

She dumped her long pack onto a rock crevice in the wall and pulled out her trophies. Two Naturite swords, one rapier, three steel swords, and a large array of daggers. She started to examine the daggers she found. She found drawers full of them behind the counter and dumped them all into her bag. She liked knives of sorts. They were easy to hide and discreet. She had a collection of them she kept with herself everywhere she went.

Some of these daggers she found in the shop were human-made weapons. There were labels on some of the items, indicating "ninja stars," "butterfly knives," "Army knives," "throwing knives," and "Switch blades" as some of the items. She was not a stranger to a few of these weapons. She had been attacked by a few of these weapons before. She held some of her own switch blades and butterfly knives in her trophy collection, along with the other items she has collected over the years. Like her favorite one: a black tiefling horn.

She picked up the ninja stars and admired their dark metal and sharp edges. Human weapons were usually never practical to her; they were more for show to her than for fighting. Most of the ones she collected were colored in bright, obnoxious colors that would signal anyone's whereabouts with ease. The other weapons she encountered, surprisingly, were very useful. These for example were black metal pieces that can hide on her person and can be used at night in the shadows without being spotted.

She put away all of the weapons back into the weapon bag, except for the ninja stars and the throwing knives and took them to her enchanted pack by the wall. She would abandon this cave today. A bit north of the mountain range where she resided was another cave that she suspected had been preoccupied by a creature. She heard activity there the night before as she was walking back to her cave and she decided that was too close for comfort. She knew an inn she could stay in and sell her pickings there. It was located in the town of Veraloi, and the townsfolk there are always looking for weapons.

She would leave in the afternoon, but for now she would rest. She slid her knives into her pack and dropped everything to the floor behind some very tall rocks. She stretched herself onto the floor, holding her weapon bag in one hand and rested her head on her pack. From there she muttered a spell around the rocks she lay behind, setting a trap in case intruders appear, and closed her eyes. She fell asleep quickly.

Shane Duggan

Shane jerked awake moments after hearing the knock on his door. Not necessarily from the knock itself, but from the feeling of falling over his laptop. Shane rubbed his temple as he leaned back against his headboard. He'd fallen asleep working upright in his bed, surrounded by pillows and a discarded blanket. Well working was putting it loosely. He'd been scrounging a social networking website meant specifically for myths that still had a couple of loyal members. He was weeding out which among them were myths and which were misguided teens who thought it was cool to share a myth's burdens. Normally he could fake enthusiasm with them until early morning, but he still hadn't gotten used to these northern European time zones. He swiped his hand across the touchpad and squinted as the screensaver disappeared. Too bright. he thought as his eyes wandered over to the time in the corner of the screen. 8:00! He would have been sleeping.

He considered how long he could wait in bed before someone inevitably came in to check on him. With a sigh, he cut his whining and rolled out of bed. Besides..
"They'd probably think I'd snuck out or something." After a wide yawn, he began stretching. He had a long day of probably more sitting around. He inspected his tail as he walked toward his suitcase and began pulling out clothes.

The thin charcoal striped tail extended for about 5ft behind him. It didn't seem like it had been that long since he'd had it trimmed but the tail had on faint scars from its last amputation. One of these days he'd have to ask if they'd cut it off for good, instead of letting it torture him. Almost as if in complaint he felt a pang of soreness that prompted him to begin stretching the limb while he focused.

Picking out his clothes, a wrinkled button up white shirt (irons are a weapon, they say) and some slacks, he walked into the bathroom and began washing up. He used cold water in the shower only partially out of courtesy to James. It would be great if he interpreted it that way, but truly it was merely more present on his half-abyssal skin. After about 30 minutes, he was ready and held his laptop under his arm as he walked toward the living quarters. If he was earlier than anyone else his space on the coach may be guaranteed. That made him smile slightly. It was the one part of the living area outside his room where it seemed like no one could watch or send suspicious glares. As he walked he stopped and leaned against the side of James'. Typically he was the first to learn what was on the agenda each day. Not that Shane had much intention of following but he'd keep it in mind.

"So Tank, what the plan for today?" He called into the room nonchalantly.

The sound of an accepting beep echoed through the living quarters of the H.O.N HQ, allowing the main doorway to be pushed open by a slightly damp hand, revealing the hunter which stood beyond. A slightly muscular man, dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark blue, sweaty T-shirt entered the room. The well known nasal scar and bright green eyes instantly gave off this man's identity as James Goldsworth, corporal of this Northern Europe's H.O.N hunter trio.

As he entered the room, a small smirk was given off towards the half-tiefling which leant next to the door to James' room as he wondered in his general direction. "Doors don't talk Y'know." He stated in a cocky manner, "Good luck getting today's plan from a slab of metal."
Without allowing his team mate to answer, James simply continued on into his room, unlocking the door with the same entrance card used to enter the whole building. A white card showing a bar code, a picture of James, his name and the type of tool he used, 'Combat Armour'.

It was only a few moments spent in the room before James had reappeared from within, carrying the note which was slid underneath his door and a spare change of thin clothing. Without any hesitation, James threw the note into Shane's direction with the words "Here's the plan" before making a beeline to the bathroom, passing Mila's room in the process to allow a few bangs to be made on the metal with his fist. "Wakey wakey, we got some shit to do. Finally." He called out as he walked off into the bathroom, allowing him to shower.

Again, this was a quick process as any excess sweat was washed off from James' morning run, he had dried himself thoroughly and dressed in his thin black body-suit which exposed his back. The set of still-healing holes was easily shown from this exposure, showing the parallel lines of holes which trailed down from the top of his neck to the bottom of his spine with two holes per spinal disk. All he had to do now is use all of his strength to carry his Combat Armour out of his room and rest it on the kitchen table, bringing it to the height needed to allow the painful-looking pins to perfectly slot into his holes as he reversed back into the armour.
The instant the pins were connected to his central nervous system, the armour activated. The back lit up a bright blue down the spinal area as the rest of the armour closed around his body, ready to deploy around his limbs and head on command. For something so heavy and powerful, one would think it would be a bulky device, but once worn, it showed to only add a few inches to the width of James' body as the triple layered plates independently moved side to side, up and down and diagonal all around as James moved around. Showing the intense programming thrown into this weapon to allow it to adapt to any kind of movement.

Mila Di Santo

Mila was still asleep when suddenly woken up by someone banging on her door shouting her name. She groaned, turned around on her stomach pulling a pillow over her head. Just when she thought it was quiet enough to fall back to sleep there was more banging on the door and James shouting. Mila groaned even louder reaching the alarm clock on her desk next to bed. 8:00. ”Oh for fucks sake it's not even noon!” she shouted through the door irritated.

She turned around to face the ceiling staring it. Why she had to be in same group with two men who were assholes and not even doing their job properly? Or one men and one creature they should kill in this case. Despite not being in the group for long she was bitter to whoever had put her with them. For first, they were both supporting roles leaving all the hard work for her. Back in Italy, she had used to do first the tracking, leaving most of the killing to hunters and soldiers, only attacking while truly needed focusing on using her healing arrows more. But now it seemed she had to do the killing as well. What the hell was point in team without any hunters?

Groaning once more she got up from the bed and got herself ready for the day. She walked to kitchen seeing Shane already there muttering ”good morning” and went to make coffee. If she had to be up so early she would refuse to do anything before coffee. She didn't pay any attention to the tiefling behind her nor when James came from bathroom to get his armor on. When the coffee was ready, she poured a cup for herself dropping a piece of sugar and took a long sip. Only then she turned around to face the two men. ”So what's the deal today? Something quick and easy I hope.”

The morning started out rather slow for Alice, whom awoke from a rather strange dream, it had something to do with humans and her escaping from them. It was interesting to her, since Alice had never truly encountered a human, so why would she judge them so much? Though admittedly, whilist reading she realized that all humans wanted was to destroy everything other than them. Though the morning was to start out almost as normal as possible, which was to tend to her garden, before heading out into the woods to make sure none of her snares were tripped, which happened every here and there with various animals wandering the forest. As she walked, she stopped by Vera Pond, feeling the wind had been changed over by it for some reason, since Alice checked here first, it wasn't normal to her, since she often got to here later. As she approached silently, she gave a small song, allowing for her to be a little more stealthy as she strung Byaku, ready almost to fire given the need.

As she approached, now drawing slowly, she saw whom it was, Shena. Relaxing much more, she approached Shena, now almost as if she wanted to be spotted, her breath easily visible as she walked to her Valkyrie companion, there was a chill that Alice finally noticed, easy to say, that Alice doesn't feel cold easily. Though finally she spoke, her voice cutting through the silence, "Shena, what on earth are you doing out here?" she asked, having never seen Shena out here before.

[font=Charlemagne Std] Mahalet Mahzun

For the first time in 20 minutes Mahalet didn’t hear the rushing of wind in his ears as he slowed himself for a landing. Approaching a short plateau in the side of the mountain he angled his wings down so that he could land on a small boulder. Just as his long crane-like leg touched the rock, he heard a gunshot from the direction he'd come from, causing him to take a few clumsy steps forward. Thankfully, he was able to dig his talons into the rock right before he would have fallen headfirst into the mountain. He swung back in their direction as he imagined the Dwarves' phantom laughter following him. Laughing not only at his near fall, but about he had failed to get any of their secrets about Nitrite and the mine. Again. He imagined they were halfway to some drinking hall celebrating by now. He raised an eyebrow.
Which meant the vault was ungau-another gunshot halted his fantasy. He crowed angrily in their direction as he turned his tail to them in contempt. Well for all their gunshots they hadn’t managed to hit hi- He squinted as he leaned in on a clump of broken tail feathers. He grumbled before sitting down and beginning to pull out the shafts. They'd only hinder him for when he decided to fly home, not to mention how they'd feel if he turned human. He looked up at the sky as he yanked a feather out. The sun was just appearing over the mending range causing the corners f his beak tock as he o raise in a smile. Yanking the last of his tail feathers out, he placed them into his bag (they'd be nice quill pens to sell later) before pulling out a small leather bound book. Placing it neatly on top of the bag, he hopped off the rock as he began shifting back to human.

After a few short breaths he felt the familiar tingling of his bones beginning to twist and rearrange back to those of a human. His skull condensed as his beak shrank back into teeth, hands forming from wing tips and many other alterations that he thankfully didn't have to think of. The tingling that ran over his body acted as an anesthetic grown from years of practice. Unlike changing into a snake as he'd done earlier this morning. He erased the thought before he began to change into one. After less than a minute he was human again and changed back into the clothes he'd stowed into his bag. Once the tingling had fully left his hand, he marked down all of the speculation he'd recently gathered on Broaden mines before tapping his pen on the book in frustration. His inside scoop on the mine had been running dry for.... well it had never been particularly flowing in the first place, but his repeated failure was starting to eat at him. He needed something to write and town gossip and histories were barely sufficient for his investigations. He slammed the journal closed before walking back towards the rock to sun himself atop it. It wasn't the best angle for it but it would do, at least until he thought of something else worth investigating today.

Mantra

A couple hours passed by, and she woke up. She immediately removed the enchantment from the trap she set and grabbed her belongings. She shouldered her bag and squeezed out of the cave and out into the daylight. Down the path and out into the woods, keeping by the trees, she walked straight in the direction of the town Veraloia. She kept her senses sharp around her, glancing at every animal and bird that goes by. The walk there would last the next hour and a half.

When she got close to town, she circled the woods to get behind the inn before she stepped out of the protection of the trees. Magical beings walked around town and down the streets. Dwarves, shapeshifters, a couple of tieflings like her as well. This was the only place of sanctuary for the creatures to live. Mantra herself started out here a long time ago when the town was built.

She approached the building and walked into the door. The first floor was a pub of sorts. Tables were set up everywhere, and a large counter at the other end of the room where the innkeeper stood. Since it was daytime, only a few people sat around a table. During the night time people would come in for a hot meal and a drink with lots of talking and music and noise.

Mantra walked across the room to the counter and dropped a few coins onto the counter. "The usual." She told the innkeeper. The man looked at her wearily but plucked the coins off of the counter silently. He pulled a key out of the shelf underneath him and put it on the counter.

"To the left." He said. Mantra snatched the key and went to the staircase on the left side of the building and climbed up to the hallway. The room was the last room in the corner of the corridor. She walked through the door and dropped her stuff onto the bed. She re-organized her collection of knives and daggers and gathered all of the equipment she would sell. Once finished with that task, she enchanted her room and traveled back downstairs to set herself up at the usual corner table. The sword bag still strapped on her back, she made herself comfortable and stuck a few knives into the table, standing upright so the colorful handles could grab attention. The innkeeper's maid scurried over in a nervous panic and set a tankard of ale down on the table along with a little bowl of peanuts before giving a curtsey and scurrying away. Mantra leaned against the wall behind her, kicking her feet up onto the table, and drank the ale. It was stale, like it was left out overnight. She didn't bother to wave over the maid again in case she had to deal with the blubbering again.

Mantra took out one of the butterfly knives and started flinging it around her fingers. This usually grabbed the attention of most anyone wandering in, and it did. One of the customers in the inn cautiously wandered over to her and slid in the seat across from her, watching her spin the knife around.

"Are you selling that?" he asked Mantra. She flung it at the table in front of him, making it stick right on the edge of the table and made him jump.

"That'll be useless to you," She told him. "But it's about 500 coins."

That made him gawk. "500! For this little thing?!"

She took out one of the Swiss army knives from her pack. "This would be of more use to you." She opened it all up. "Knife, screwdriver, corkscrew, filer, small clipper, fork, spoon," she slid it across the table to him. "All for the same amount of coins as this knife." She yanked the butterfly knife out of the tale and continued flipping it. The man picked up the Army knife and sat in silence for a few moments. He finally dug into his pocket and dropped a few gold coins. He was about to move to get up, but she flung that butterfly knife back onto the table next to his hand, making him jump again and drop the Army knife. She stared at him.

"Thats only 300." she said.

"I- I have the r-rest at home. I'll come b-back." He spluttered. She dropped her feet and leaned across the table to him, making him shrink back so far he fell off of the bench.

"Bring the rest then, and you can have it." She hissed. She grabbed the knives back and took the coins. She pocketed everything as he ran out of the inn and propped her feet back up. She figured he probably wouldn't show his face again for the rest of the day. Didn't matter. Either way she had her coins. The inn finally ceased of all it's conversation as they stared at her in fear. She knew some of the other customers were there when she brawled with another tiefling the last time she was here. The sound of coins hitting the table filled the air and almost all of the customers left the inn, except for one hooded figure. The innkeeper glared at her from the counter and stormed off to the back room, while the maid scurried back to refill her tankard. Mantra held up her hand to stop her and she froze.

"Make sure that ale is a new case. That last drink was too stale." she said. The maid blubbered some sort of answer and poured the ale into the tankard. Mantra picked up the tankard and took a drink as the maid stood there in some frozen stance. Mantra looked at the maid and the maid gasped in fear. Mantra raised her eyebrow at her.

"Better."

The maid scurried away again and didn't reappear for a long time.

Mantra munched on some peanuts, and watched now as the hooded figure dropped a few coins on his table and walked in her direction. She already knew who he was. He tossed a pouch onto the table. She picked it up and dumped it's contents out.

"This is more than what I asked for. Why?" she observed.

"That should make us even." he said. She glared at him and put the extra coins into his pouch.

"It does not." she said, tossing the pouch onto the floor at his feet. She reached behind her and took the steel sword she stole and dropped it onto the table with a clatter. "Take your sword and leave me be." She crossed her arms. "I will let you know when you're debt is repaid."

She heard him growl in irritation, but he took the steel sword, hid it under his cloak and stormed out. Mantra drank some more ale. Sometimes she wondered why she bothered dealing with people in the first place.

Shane bit back his response as James shoved past him. Another response to the door would only further fuel James' comment.
"Oh I didn't notice, the resemblance between you two is remarkable." He muttered the retort to himself as he folded his arms, tucking the laptop beneath his arm.
He turned his head when he heard the door open shortly after. He caught the list as it was thrown to him, stumbling to try and not drop his laptop at the same time. He was about to start reading before he noticed James once again walking away from him. He glared shoving the note into his pocket. If he read it now, he'd just have to read to the others later. He turned and began walking toward the kitchen, already thinking of how he would waste his time.

By the time he go there he only concluded that he would make enough coffee for the base. He considered how many had already made their own coffee and then how may would actually drink his. Frowning he put about half of the coffee beans back as he decided to only make enough for his team. As soon as he had finished with that he filled a thermos and set down with his laptop. So long as no one was watching he'd use it for more personal means. Searching his old informant name "el revenant" he sat back happily sipping as he watched the seeming panic that name caused among forums. Opening another tab he logged into one of the many websites he was monitoring for work before switching back to the panic. The good old days he thought with another sip.

Mila entered the kitchen with a muttered good morning and Shane gave her a mock salute. A bit to late he gestures to the premade coffee pot as she already began making her own. He rolled his eyes and refilled his cup. James too ignored the pot when he entered levying Shane grumbling in his chair.
"So what's the deal today? Something quick and easy I hope.” Said Mila, leaning against the counter.
Shane pulled the crumpled note from his pocket and began reading in an exaggerated fancy voice, "It's L. I have a new client. Your shopping list is following. Two Cerberus tails. Minced and dried tiefling horns. And one Valkyrie. Alive.” He raised an eyebrow at Mila and asked "Quick and easy?" in a barely sarcastic tone.

He resisted the urge to touch the ridges in his forehead, for once glad he didn't have honks to give. At the same time he was planning his own agenda. No one in the area was particularly technological which led him to believe he may have to be more involved in this mission than he liked.

Shena Savel

Just as she swung herself to air another time, Shena heard familiar voice behind her. Landing on ground she turned around lifting up her spear. "I could ask same from you, Alice." she said rather coldly, hating when someone interrupt her training. "Though I can guess. You're checking your snares like every morning. Which reminds me. You should think better where to place them. Just at morning found a young rabbit stuck in one. Had to free it." Freeing it in this case, meant cutting the snare in pieces but she wasn't going to tell that part aloud.

"And since you apparently have become blind, I'm training." she said answering to Alice's original question. She then spread her wings and with couple of steps from the ground, bounced herself in the air. "Now if you don't mind, I have work to do."

Zollamairi

After licking the last bone clean and tossing it into the submerged pile of remains, Zollamairi stood. Licking her paws clean of the blood from her meal, she could not help but to feel unsatisfied. Humans rarely provided an exciting or remotely challenging hunt, and she stretched her muscles which we sore from under-use. She craved something... challenging. Perhaps not even to eat, but something to get the blood flowing through her veins. There were a variety of deer native to the area which may make for the fine chase, but she wasn't hungry and deer never did well with the whole catch-and-release method.

"Perhaps,'" Iri suggested, a playful edge in her voice, "We may go play with the tiny humans."
"You merely wish to eat the tiny humans," Lama pointed out, sounding disproving, and Iri giggled madly.
"I must agree with Iri," Zolla said, "Perhaps not with eating the tiny humans, but she does have a point in that they would provide us some entertainment."

In agreement now, Zollamairi traveled to the entrance of her cave and took in a deep breath, relishing the scent of the forest and fresh air before bounding off through the woods. The time it took her to reach her destination was brief and as she neared it, Zollamairi shifted her form, turning into an average looking dog with long reddish-brown fur. There was a small human dwelling along the edge of the woods which housed two adults (male and female) as well as five children; a boy age 13, a girl age 10, two identical girls both 8 and one tiny boy who was only 5. As Zollamairi walked into the yard and began barking all of the small humans came running out the front door of the house, laughing and cheering about how "The puppy is back! The puppy is back!"

Though normally she despised humans, Zollamairi could not deny how nice it was to have her belly rubbed and her ears scratched, nor how tasty some of the food these small humans presented to her was. Eventually, when they grew large, she had every intention of devouring the entire household and fantasized about the looks on their faces when their "puppy" turned against them. However, in the meantime, she would take advantage of these human's trusting nature and use them as a source of entertainment.

Mahalet Mahzun

After about an hour of sunning himself, Mahalet eventually got over his mental rut. He ducked under a branch as he took a deep breath of the forest air. his hometown was never abundant with trees s the forest had always been an intriguing environment for him. Mind he'd never come in here as a secretary bird . That was hardly suited for this habitat, not to mention the predators it would have to compete with. No in ever way but for Mahl's human side it was inspiring to say the least.

Mahalet stood out like a sore thumb in his red harem pants and orange hoodie. The fact didn't go over his head and it was slightly intentional. Any predator would immediately notice him and upon realizing how inedible he was move on. Any hunter might see him and start talking of their kills if he was lucky. Unless in the odd event he scared off their quarry, in which case it wasn't a fool-poof wardrobe.

Mahl continued his daydreams and hardly realized when he came upon the edges of the woods towards human housing. Rolling his eyes, he languidly began putting on his hood to cover his head feathers and sunglasses over his eyes. He contemplated just turning around back into the forest but concluded there was probably something he needed in town. As great as Veraloia was he still needed his fix of modernity every now and then. Just before his glasses completely obscured his eyes, he caught a glimpse of children playing with their dog and smiled as he leaned against a tree.

He'd always considered learning to become a dog. Imagine all of the things someone would just tell a dog thinking it a normal animal. his own choices in animal were hardly inconspicuous or cuddly. And aside from stupidity and a general subservience to humans, they still maintained a wolf-like majesty. Something the cats he'd seen couldn't attest to. Although ths particularly reddish brown dog seemed to hold more of that wolven quality than he was used to. Perhaps it was in the familiar look in its eye or the power that seemed to resonate behind them. He was about to start writing notes for a story on humans playing with magical dogs or forces they don't understand (again) when the realization of who this dog could be connected.

Now that... is a far more interesting story He thought as he began writing down as many notes as he could on the area time, his reactions, the kids descriptions etc. in order to help him formulate an actual story later. More evidence might be needed though. He didn't know every cerberus in Veraloia but he could only imagine how interesting it would be if it as any of the cerberus he knew. There goes those tough.....façade is not the right word. he didn't doubt that a majority of the threats those Cerberus had made toward him were deadly serious. This ...would be an expose piece! Showing a softer side to those three-headed hell hounds. In his excitement he almost rushed without a single picture of the event. he was too invested n this story to be discredited as he had been before. He pulled his polaroid camera from her bag and snapped a couple of pictures of the house, kids and especially the dog. The sound of the camera shudder was nothing subtle and any above average ear would be able to hear it. Through the viewfinder he soon noticed that the mother was looking a him and beginning to move into the house toward the phone.

Accepting how much of a creep he must have seemed, he walked back toward the wood, waving the developing photos.
