The clashing of swords and the yelling of a crowed roared through the village. The civil war raged on, many people laying dead in the mixture of blood and mud. It was brutal, brother against brother, children screaming and running around. All this destruction, all because some people were pro-magic, while others were not. People screamed insults at each other, the anti-magic side pushing their way through the village, and towards the castle. They had enough of their magic loving king, and his peaceful ways.
Caspian was sitting in his counsel room, pacing. His servants had dressed him in battle armor, just incase the riot got inside the well protected castle. He held his helmet in one arm, his long white hair flowing just past his shoulders. "I refuse to stand here and let my people slaughter each other! I must go out there and talk them down!" Caspian yelled to one of the few counsel members who had not fled in fear. "My lord, we must keep you safe! They are after you, they say you are getting weak, and that you're going to let the magic's come right up to us and slaughter us."
Caspian's face got red with anger. "Those people are foolish for believing that! I have a plan to stop this Wizard, Adjoran, I just need to call them at the right time." Absentmindedly Caspian put a gloved hand on the satchel he wore around his waist. It held a white horn, gold decorating the rim beautifully. It would be hard to believe that the horn was thousands of years old. The counsel member looked confused. "Call how, my Lord?". Caspian ignored the question, biting as his lip in thought.
"Perhaps now is the proper time to call them… It is getting bad…" There was a loud bang, doors flying open. The counsel members stood, drawing the swords at their side, quickly stopping however upon seeing who had entered. A young handsome man who was a spitting image of a young Caspian walked briskly into the room. "Father! They are getting closer!" The boy said, addressing Caspian. The King looked more nervous, nodding curtly. "Very well… It has to be done…" He reached into the back, but stopped at the sound of shattering glass. Before he knew what was going on, Caspian was grabbed and pulled forward as citizens climbed through the now broken windows that were in back of Caspian.
There was yelling, and the sound of metal against metal as the guards fought the rioters. Caspian was rushed out of the room quickly, but they were stopped quickly when a wave of villagers rushed into the hallway. They tried to turn and go another rout, but that one was being filled with angry villagers as well.
Caspian pulled his large sword out, not bothering to struggle with his helmet. Throwing it to the side, Caspian blocked a man wielding a metal spike. Parrying the blow he pushed the man back, knocking over multiple people. Him and his son fought, but did not kill, the citizens, working their way to a door leading to a watch tower. Slamming the door closed, and blocking it with a unlit torch, Caspian and the prince ran up the tower stairs, throwing the trap door open. Climbing through, Caspian looked over the side, into the court yard of his castle. It was full of battling people, some citizens fighting in his honor while others fought both the guards and the people. The anti-magic people, dressed in blood red scarves, seemed to be winning and getting into the castle. "What are we to do?!" The prince said, looking fearfully to his father.
Caspian, grave faced, pulled out the horn in his bag. His son looked at him like he was crazy. "What will that do?" Caspian grabbed his son by the shoulders, looking him in the eye. "Remember those stories about the four great sibling Kings and Queens? Well they are true, all of it. This horn," He lifts up the horn, "Will call them back here. They will help us, everyone is loyal to them. I'm afraid I wasn't as great a ruler as them, but I hope you will learn from them, not me…" Caspian hugged his son tightly, the locked trap door being banged upon from the inside. Caspian put the horn to his lips, and blew hard.

He was on his laptop in a coffee shop. Ear buds in, coffee cup half empty, his fingers flying wildly over the keyboard, his imagination pouring over the virtual page. Vadik paused his typing to take a sip of coffee, glancing over the paragraph he just finished. It was written beautifully, a fantasy story about two women, a apocalyptic space station, and a god. Grinning and rubbing his lightly bearded chin, Vadik looked up from his laptop. Multiple girls were glancing at him and giggling when they caught his eye.
The writer sat back in his chair, stretching and smiling to himself. What a wonderful day it was. Looking up at the ceiling, Vadik noticed something. A shuttering ceiling tile. Eyebrows furrowing together, he watched it shake more and more violently. Looking around, no one seemed to notice the angry tile. Vadik was about to say something to the gentleman next to him when he sudden felt a sharp pinch on his leg. Visibly jumping Vadik smacked at the pained spot, thinking to find a hand or something causing the pain. Instead he felt the same pain on his shoulder blade. Jumping up from his chair he looked around. People now noticed his strange behavior, staring at him as he flinched at another pinch in his hand. "Who's doing that?!" Vadik called through the store. People looked at him like he was wearing a straight jacket.
The ceiling tile continued to shake like it was having a seizure, but now other things were doing it too. A coffee cup on some ones table was shaking and scooting around. A cookie rack on the store counter. More and more things joined in, to the point where it looked like there was an earth quake was going on. "What's going on?!" Vadik yelled, starting to get freaked out. The sun light shining through the windows was starting to get brighter. Suddenly wallpaper on the wall started to peel off, like being ripped off by an invisible force. Things started to slide away, but no one seemed to notice except Vadik. The movement started to get faster, and before he could react, Vadik was squinting in the blazing sun, on his hands and knees in the sand. Seagulls squawked in the distance, and the sound of crashing waves could be heard. Vadik squinted through his longer, dark hair, trying to figure out what the hell happened.
First he was in a coffee shop, and now he's on a beach almost like the ones from Normandy. Looking up at the cliff Vadik could see the ruins of a extremely old castle. The architecture looked ancient Greek, from what Vadik could see. Standing up, he wobbled on the sand, sneakers sinking into the soft white sand. He was completely alone, and slowly the panic started to settle in. Eyes widening Vadik tried to calmly start walking. He got a few steps before bursting into a sprint towards the mountain. "Help! Someone help me! Anybody! Help!" Vadik found a rocky path up the side of the cliff. Running up it, he continued to yell loudly, hoping that maybe some tourist or something could help him.
Reaching the top of the cliff Vadik stopped dead. The ruins were defiantly ancient, almost invisible under the vegetation that completely covered it. He could tell that the ruins, once a palace, had been absolutely beautiful in its day. Taking in his surroundings, Vadik started to walk around. Although there was grass all over, there were pieces of marble floors, and walls. The pillars still stood, although it seemed like a lot of them were destroyed.
Walking to the edge of the cliff, Vadik could tell he was in a massive room, nothing there accept a few bits of wall, and a raised portion of the floor. There were four broken circles on the small 'stage', where thrones use to be. Vadik slowly took in the destroyed scene. It made him very sad, like a ruined painting. Sitting down on the steps, he put his head in his arms, eyes stinging. He sat like that for a couple minutes, but the sound like a whip cracking was what made him look up, and towards the beach. There was a figure there, stumbling in the sand.
Vadik's heart raced as he jumped up. Rubbing his eyes hard to make sure he wasn't seeing things, he called out, "Hey! Hey you!". Sprinting from the ruins he hurriedly went down the rocky path he took, stumbling a few times and falling. Racing onto the beach he went over to the figure, who was now standing. Sliding to a stop Vadik stared. She looked just as lost as him.

She sat huddled under the over hanging lid of a dumpster. She had slept inside that night, but could no longer stand the smell so she hopped back out only to find it starting to rain. She hated the rain. Pulling the lid over her head offered little for protection as the rain came down harder and the wind started to blow the drops to her face. Standing and picking up her backpack she walked to the back of the cafe.

She still had some money left that her mother gave after her last visit to her parents home. Mother had begged her to stay and live with them. She could find a job and settle down, but settling down was the last thing on Derowynn's mind. She wanted to see as much of the world she could and hitch hiking from place to place had given her chance to do just that. It was not a glamorous life. She often slept outside, as this past night, in order to save money for food and such, but she was having an experience of a life time and would not change her life for anything.

Walking into the cafe, she sat in a corner booth. She wished to stay as far from the other customers as possible. Some because of her garbage can scent and some because she didn't wish to have someone talk to her. She was not the chatty type and hated to have to pretend that she was interested in anything that anyone else had to say to her. Once the waitress took her order of eggs, bacon, toast, and a cup of coffee, she left for the bathroom to freshen up some.

Looking into the the mirror of the bathroom, she sighed as she tugged at her hair. She looked like a wet rat and had the scent to accompany the look. Turning on the water, she held a hand under it until it was properly warm. Derowynn slashed some water on her face and let out a sigh, somewhat of relief, somewhat of still being a bit tired. That was when she heard the gurgling sound of water. She looked at the sink, but the water seemed to be flowing down the drain just fine.

Soon, her feet felt more wet, if that was possible. Looking down she saw she was standing in a small pool of flowing water. Turning on her heel, she looked and saw the source. The water was flowing from a stall. Undoubtedly, a toilet must have been plugged and was overflowing. Wading through the slowly rising water, she pushed at the stall door. It was unlocked and opened easily. To Derowynn's surprise it was not a toilet overflowing that she saw, but a bubbling brook...in the stall, and pine trees behind it where the wall should be.

Looking back out to the sink and mirror, she discovered them missing. She seemed to be standing knee deep in the middle of a forest brook. Quickly she made her way to the bank and stepped out of the water. Looking around she saw no sign of the bathroom or the cafe for that matter. Looking up she saw blue sky peeking through the tops of the majestic pines. Slowly she wove her way through the trees. The further she walked, the thinner the trees became. Now she could see out quite a distance before her.

After what seemed to be about a fifteen minute walk, she heard a louder sound. This sound was also water, but like waves crashing on a beach. It reminded her of the time she spent a few months wandering on the coastline. The thought brought a smile to her face. Moving faster she soon found herself at the edge of the forest and looking out at the beach and ocean. Derowynn stood there for a while taking in the scene. The warmth of the sun felt good on her face and even seemed to be drying her off.

Stepping out onto the beach, she took off her shoes and carried them as she let her feet sink into the soft sand. Her attention was on the water as she watched the waves crash on the beach and then get pulled back into the ocean they had come from. All was peaceful, just the sounds of the gulls letting out an occasional squawk and then "Hey! Hey you!" Looking around to where the sound of the words were coming, she saw a man running down a set of stone steps towards her. Derowynn was not sure what to do, so she just froze in place.

The mystery woman just stared at him like he had horns on his head as Vadik babbled, "I was in this coffee shop, and all of a sudden there was this earth quake, and before I know what's going on, I'm here! I was all the way in Brooklyn, and it's suppose to be winter, but it's so warm here, like it's never even seen snow! How did you get here? Where am I? Can you help?" The woman just stared. Vadik looked the woman up and down. She wasn't dressed in any tourist clothing, and she looked incredibly dirty. There was no way she was from here, or was suppose to be here. "My name is Vadik... Vadik Nadir. I'm a writer, if that calms you. I'm not here to hurt you. I don't even know where here is..."
Vadik took a few steps back, stumbling a bit as his shoes. His outfit wasn't exactly beach wear. He pulled off his jacket, a white button up under it. "There's some old ruins up there that I was looking at... They look extremely old, but no one's really touched it. There would be graffiti all over the place if someone actually found it. That or lots of people." Vadik pushed the hair out of his face, looking up at the crumbling walls. He clicked his tongue "It would of been beautiful in its day, I can tell you that." Without warning he started walking over to where he came down, hoping that maybe they would find something. "If it's a tourist place, that might be closed, maybe there's a pedestal telling us where we are," He looked back at the girl to make sure she was following, flashing her a smile. Still holding onto his jacket, Vadik climbed the crumbling stairs once again.
He explored a bit more, glancing over his shoulder to look at the mysterious girl a couple of times, in hopes that she might actually say something. However she remained quiet, just taking in the view around her. About two hours passed before Vadik gave up on his search, going back to the throne room ruins, sitting down on the steps. For a split second he looked absolutely hopeless, like they would never find out where they were, and how they could get home. He however remained optimistic. "Well it could be worse," He was saying more to himself then the girl, "At least it's not cold, or raining. And the view is extremely nice, like I would of loved to see this place back in its day." Sighing Vadik gave the area one last swoop of the eye, freezing when he noticed something on a rather large solid wall. A secret door, which had been pried open a long time ago. It was almost invisible under the vegetation that had taken over, but it was still visible.
Quickly getting up, Vadik went over to the doorway, pushing aside all the vines. "Hello... Where do you go?" Prying the door open Vadik looked back at the girl. Giving her a small shrug as if saying 'why the hell not?'. The door lead to a dark stair case, which spiraled downwards, into the cliff. Going down about a story, the stares expanded into a dark room. It was almost impossible to see anything, the light from the stairs not helping. It was, however, visible that there were four chests on the opposite wall, statues of people at each chest. Vadik went over to the chest farthest to the right, a tall and elegant man standing behind it. Opening the unsealed chest, he reached inside, recoiling when his hand touched something cold, and leather. Glancing back at the woman, Vadik raised an eyebrow, clicked his tongue, and plunged his hand back into the darkness. When he pulled it back out, he was holding a magnificent sword, a golden and tarnished lions head as the pommel. Vadik dropped the ancient sword as if it was on fire, shock written all over his face. He turned to the woman. "Who are you? What the hell is this place? Why is there some sword laying around like it's meant to be here?" Vadik started to back away, like he was staring eye to eye with a bear.

She stared at the man, turning around again wondering where she was and what had happened to her bathroom. Was she sleeping and this was a dream? Did she pass out and this was some vision of her unconsciousness? She had no idea. He continued to speak to her and seemed to want her to follow him up the steps to whatever laid beyond. Looking back to the ocean she was unsure what to do, but as he started to ascend the steps, she decided to follow.

"There's some old ruins up there that I was looking at..." Derowynn heard him say. She thought he had mentioned a name too, but was too much in her own world trying to figure things out at the moment to really catch it. She could hear that he was still talking, presumably to her, but she couldn't really understand what was being said as he was too far away at this point. Taking one last look at the ocean, she turned and quickly made her way to where the steps were and followed them up to where she had seen the man go.

As she got closer she could hear he was still speaking. He had stopped and was looking out over the scene spread out below. " And the view is extremely nice, like I would of loved to see this place back in its day." She turned to look and a slight smile crossed her face as she saw the beach below with the ocean spreading out as far as the eye could see. She continued to look as he walked over to another area. "Hello... Where do you go?" she heard him say and turned to see what he might be talking about.

He was standing by a wall and seemed to have found a door that led into a passageway. Derowynn watched as the man disappeared inside and turned to follow. She stopped when she made the entrance. It was dark inside and there appeared to be a stairway leading down. Sounds from the man echoed back up to her, so she decided to make her way carefully down the steps. Reaching the bottom, the steps stopped in a dark room. The man was there standing and looking at something. She cautiously walked up behind him and then stood next to him.

As Derowynn looked, she saw the four chests sitting there. The thought went through her mind that perhaps they contained some sort of treasure. A grin crossed her face at the thought. "I could use some extra cash" was said silently through her mind. Derowynn watched as the man approached one of the chests. Perhaps she had seen too many of these sort of movies, but she was waiting for some sort of trap to spring and perhaps injure or even kill the man. Slowly he opened the chest and reached inside. Her mouth dropped a bit as he pulled out the sword and turned it around over and over to examine it.

While he was examining the sword, Derowynn decided she would take a peek into another of the chests. She went to one that had the statue of a woman standing behind it. It was hard to make out details of the statue in the dim lighting so she just went to a knee and push the top of the chest to open it. It seemed to open easily, more so than she had expected. Looking inside, she could not see much, but did recognize a shape of something lying on the bottom of the chest. Reaching in she took hold of the object and pulled it out. A smile crossed her face when she saw the quiver and bow she was holding in her hand.

She stood and looked over at the man who was still examining the sword. "Look!" she said to him as she held out the bow for him to see.

The woman seemed completely unaware that Vadik had been freaking out. She simply pulled out a bow and arrow, and showed it to the man. Vadik paused, giving the woman a confused look, eyebrows furrowing together. She was defiantly something... Wordlessly Vadik went over to the woman, taking the bow from her hands. He grabbed the string and pulled back. The bow creaked slightly, but didn't break in his hands like he thought. Looking impressed he handed the bow and arrow back to the woman, and one of the few dusty arrows from the quiver, looking it up and down. There were hammer marks on the arrow head, as if it was hand made, and the feathers on the arrow were real, not the fake plastic everyone has today. "These are made in a old way, but.... They don't look very damaged from age, like they should be." Vadik put the arrow back, and went over to the sword. He pulled it out of the sheath, looking at the blade. He could feel that there was writing, just like he could feel the hammer marks on the arrow head, but it was too dark to read them. "Let's search the other two, see if there's anything else in there," Vadik suggested, going over to the other two chests.
Going to the last one, a young female statue behind it, he opened it. Feeling inside Vadik frowned. It was mostly empty, but what he pulled out was a small dagger. It was attached to a belt with some sort of weird bottle on the other side. Looking back, Vadik saw the woman pull out a thin sword. It wasn't as bulky as the sword that Vadik held, but it looked light weight, and just as sharp as his. "Let's go back up, and examine this stuff," Vadik suggested, leading the way back up the stairs.
Squinting in the bright daylight Vadik looked first at the sword he was holding. The writing on the blade read "When Aslan bears his teeth, winter meets its death" and on the other side, "When Aslan shakes his mane, We shale have spring again". Vadik raised his eyebrow, staring down at the shining blade. "What the hell does that mean?' He asked, glancing at the woman. Looking at the red leather sheath he was holding, Vadik noticed something scratched in it. "Rhindon". Still looking confused, Vadik looked at the sword. "That must be the swords name," He thought aloud. Looking at all the other weapons none of them were written on, nor did they have names.
Vadik clicked his tongue, looking back at Rhindon. The sword was about his size, and could be very valuable if they made it back home. He was about to say this to the mystery woman, but stopped when he heard something. The sound of hooves on stone. Eyes widening, Vadik threw the sword over his back, using the leather belt attached to the sheath to hold it across his back. Still holding the dagger belt Vadik ran towards the noise. It was farther away, but the sound of leaves and grass being moved around could be easily heard. Vadik ran through a wall of trees, the sound coming from the other side. He stopped dead in his tracks, however, when he saw what was making the noise. A man- no a horse- but actually both at the same time. A man torso melted into a horses body. The centaur looked startled. His skin was dark, and he had long black hair. The horses body was a deep chestnut, the same black hair for a tail. Vadik stared at the man-horse-thing, flinching when he suddenly talked. "What are you doing in Cair Paravel? Where did you find that sword?" Vadik just stared, his face slowly turning a ash white. Without warning, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and he fell straight backwards.

Derowynn had followed the man up and out of the lower level, back to where the entrance was located. The bright light of the sun made her close her eyes for a few seconds, but the cooler breeze blowing off the ocean felt good as it hit her face and blew her hair about. As the man looked the sword over closer, she did the same with the bow and quiver, admiring the craftsmanship of both. She didn't know much about weaponry, but it was easy to see that this was not a cheap store bought item.

Derowynn heard the noise just as the man did. She was not sure what to do. Her immediate thought was this may be someone who could help explain where in the world they were and how they ended up here. Her next thought was it could be danger, so she quickly moved to the entrance in the wall again to find a place to hide as she watched to see what would come through the trees.

The man seemed to be brave? Curious? Perhaps a bit...daft? What was he doing? Why did he not go to take cover as she had, she wondered as she saw him sling the sword over his shoulder and onto his back. She was about to speak out when she saw him take a few steps towards..."What in the hell is that!" ran through her head as the creature walked towards the man. It was the upper half of a man and the back half of a horse. A small gasp escaped her before her hand reached her mouth to cover her.

The strange creature spoke to the man, but not loud enough for her to hear what was being said. Then, the man fell over backwards. Another gasp came from her, this time loud enough for the horse man to hear. He looked her way and then back at the fallen man. Reaching to its back, the creature pulled out a great long sword and looked back at the doorway that Dero was sitting in. Derowynn's hands were shaking as she looked at the bow and the quiver she held. She pulled an arrow from the quiver, it rattled all the way out as her shaky hand pulled on it. Having never used a bow before, she looked at it and wondered where the arrow was suppose to go.

The clacking of the creatures hooves could be heard, but she didn't look up, focusing on how to put the arrow onto the bow. "Dammit!" she cursed aloud as she thought she had it figured out, but when she raised the bow to point it, the arrow fell off. As she bent to grab the arrow, the tip of the creatures blade blocked the way of her hand to reach it. Looking up, Darowynn gasped and fell onto her bottom. A look of terror was in her eyes as the creature looked her over. A look of disgust crossed it's face as it's nose wrinkled up and took a step back from her. "You smell horrible," the centaur said. Derowynn felt her face turn red and now instead of fear filling her up, she was filled with insult and hurt. Standing up, she looked up at the centaur and replied back, "Well, you have a horse's ass!" Looking over to the man on the ground, still motionless, she pointed, "And what did you do to him? Is he dead?" she asked, a hint of alarm in her voice. The centaur turned his head to look at the man lying there and shrugged. "I don't think so."

The centaur turned from Dero and walked back to the man on the ground. He nudged him a bit with the sword he held, but the man did not move. It could be seen that his chest was rising up and down, so the centaur turned and looked at Derowynn, who was now standing next to him. Once again his face was contorted and he took a step away from her saying, "He appears alive.
I think he likely fainted. Perhaps your odor was too much for him."
Derowynn frowned at the creature and pushed past him to kneel next to the man and look him over. She nodded her head in agreement and then stood back up. "I think he'll live," she said, and then walked back to pick up the bow and arrows she had left behind. Holding them up for the creature to see she asked, "Do you know anything about these?"

The Centaur snorted at the question, as if it was a stupid question. He grinned, looking at the girl, but the grin fell as the confused look in the her eyes never went away. "If you do not know the story of the Sons of Adam and the Daughters of Eve, then you must not be from around here... The weapons you carry are the weapons of our four great kings and queens, all siblings. The sword he carries," The horse-man gestured towards Vadik with his sword lazily, "Is Rhindon, King Peter the Magnificents' sword. That bow and arrow is Queen Susan the Gentles'. She also had a horn to call for help, but King Caspian has that. That sword," He pointed to the thin blade, "Is King Edmund the Justs', and that dagger is Queen Lucy the Valients'. They all have seen battle many times."
There was a pause as Vadik started to move a bit, but not wake up. "I think we should take him back to my heard, we can make sure he is okay." The creature looked back at the woman, who looked skeptical. "My name is Rafa. My heard is not far from here, just a mile or so away. I promise not to hurt you." Rafa put his sword back into its sheath, on the side of his horse body. "Please, follow me. We can get you cleaned up and smelling better as well... I think you should keep the weapons, they might do you some good." Rafa walked over to Vadik, who was moving his head a little, like a dog having a dream. The centaur knelt down low, picking Vadik up like he was as heavy as a pillow. Standing up Rafa put the writer across his back, face down. He looked back at the woman, then started to walk through the trees.
The walk was simple enough, staying on the cliff, which lead into a forest. "Those ruins were the Kings and Queens palace at one time. Cair Paravel is what it was called. It was our capitol over 1350 years ago, when the sibling rulers were still with us. It was a beautiful place, I've been told. My grandfather served in the royal army, fighting side by side with the two brothers. He told my father his stories, and then my father told me." Rafa smiled at all the memories. "The Kings and Queens grew up here, ruling all of Narnia. But then they disappeared for 1300 years. Humans found their way here, and tried to push us magical creatures out. The siblings came back, but young again. They fought side by side with our current king, Caspian, then left once again back to their lives in London, what ever that is. Then King Edmund and Queen Lucy returned one last time to help King Caspian. That was fifty years ago. They haven't been seen sense. We're all afraid that they will never come back." Rafa was no longer smiling. He looked tired and ragged, worry making him look older. "We magic folk face persecution once again. This time, however, we have the Wizard Adjorn with us. He will push out the humans, make Narnia pure again." Rafa glanced at the woman, his eyes widening slowly. "Humans no longer belong in our world."
Rafa stopped, his hand reaching for his sword. Before he could draw it, however, Vadik shoved himself from the ponies back. Drawing his own sword, he slashed at the stunned centaurs side. The blade easily sliced through Rafa's hide, blood spraying from the 3 foot long cut. Rafa yelled in agony, bursting into a gallop, running through the trees. Vadik looked stunned, clutching the sword handle with both hands, shaking slightly. Looking at Derowynn he asked, "Are you okay?"

Her eyes went wide as she saw Rafa look at her. It was a look that was serious and filled with ill intent. Feeling completely defenseless, she took a step back and started to search for a place to run to when the man whom Rafa had been carrying stirred. She watched as he jumped from the centaur's back and used the sword he had carried to slash a gash into the side of the centaur.

Blood from the creature sprayed across her face and covered her from head to toe. She stumbled backwards as the centaur cried out and then ran away. "Are you okay?" she heard the man ask. All she could do was stand there, stunned. She felt that this must all be a dream. The overflowing toilet, the forest, the ocean and castle ruins, the bow and quiver, the centaur, and yes, even this man standing before her. If she just would open her eyes everything would be better. She would be lying in the dumpster and could get up and out to go get some breakfast.

Closing her eyes, she slowly reopened them expecting to see the lid of the dumpster. Instead, she saw the face of the man staring at her, a question in his eyes. She shook her head and looked around. She was still standing in the forest and believed she still heard a faint cry of the wounded centaur. She looked back at the man and slowly nodded her head before breaking down in tears.

"What is this? How is it that I am here? Where are we and, and who are you? she asked, her voice cracking at times as she struggled to regain her composure. She didn't wait for answer. A sudden thought gripped her with fear. What if this beast came back or sent others to come back for her and the man. Grabbing his hand, she tugged at him and said, "We need to get out of here before that thing comes back for us. Now! Lets go!"

She didn't wait for him to respond. Dropping his hand, she started to take off running in the direction they had come from. She ran as fast as she could for as long as her body would allow. Finally, fatigue took it's grip on her and sent her to her knees, gasping for air to refill her lungs with. As she tried to regain her strength, she looked up to see the ocean shore in the distance.

"If only I could get back there," she thought, "perhaps then I could find a way out of this horrible place and get back to my cafe in Denver." She was about to stand again when she heard the sounds of the man now coming up from behind her. Fear once again gripped her as she saw him running to her with the sword in his hand. She saw what he had done with it once, and she did not wish to be the next victim. Holding up her hands to protect herself she screamed out, "No! No! Please don't kill me!"

Vadik flinched at the girls yelling. She seemed to be freaking out now, finally asking the question of 'where am I' and 'who is this man with me'. She had run off so fast he had no time to put Rhindon away as he ran after her, which only made her freak out more. Quickly swinging back, causing the woman to scream more, he sheathed the large sword, putting his hands out and kneeling down, so they were eye level, he calmly said, "My name is Vadik Nadir. I'm from Brooklyn New York. I have no idea where we are, but I promise you, actually promise you, that I'm not here to hurt you. We're in this together." Vadik slowly shuffled forward, still kneeling with his hands up. Getting close enough to the woman he slowly put a hand down, placing it on her knee, carful not to scare her.
"Let's get back to the beach, were you were going. Maybe we can find a cave or something, and rest for the night." Vadik was now looking over the girls head, at the crashing waves just past the tree. It was starting to get dark now, the sun going down fast. Slowly standing, he held his hand out to the dirty woman. Helping her up, he picked up his jacket, which he managed to save from Rafa. Starting to walk past the thin line of trees, he went to the edge of the cliff. It was the same beach, but they had strayed away from the Cair Paravel stairs, which could be in any direction. Instead of wasting more time, and possibly getting into more danger, Vadik started to climb down. It wasn't hard, or too steep, this part of the cliff sloping a little, but he still frequently looked at the woman next to him, just to make sure she was okay. After about two minutes of silence Vadik started to talk. It was sort of silly things, just like the weird people of Brooklyn, how he was originally from Texas. As they reached the bottom of the cliff, however, he frowned, jumping down a few feet onto the sand.
"You know, I haven't really had time to think of this... But why us?" He didn't look at the woman, feeling she would look at him like that was a stupidly obvious question. "It's just, we're not exactly very crazy people. You, no offense, seem to be homeless, and I'm just a writer. This place actually looks like something I'd write up. I just feel like I'm dreaming. That thing back there, Rafa I think I heard him call himself- I woke up much earlier then you guys realize -said this place was Narnia." Vadik was now walking along the beach, looking at the cliff to see if there were any actual caves. He didn't trust the safety of Cair Paravel anymore, seeing as it was such a well known spot by things like Rafa. "I might have an active imagination, but there's no way I could dream up such a background as that guy told us." Vadik paused, seeing a small dark hole, barely big enough for him to walk into. Slipping inside, the hole opened up to a medium sized cave. It was about 50 feet back, and 25 feet wide. Looking back at the woman he smiled a little, something finally going successful.
It was even colder in the cave then it was out on the beach. It was also much darker, and the lowering sun did nothing for the cave. Handing the woman his jacket, he said he'd go out to try and find drift wood, mentioning the lighter he had in his back pocket. "I can say something before I enter, so I don't spook you," The man offered as he walked out of the cave. Not hearing a answer he shrugged, assuming that meant she would prefer him to do that. It took him about thirty minutes to find any wood on the beach, but there were lots of sticks at the base of the cliff from trees. Coming back with a rather large armful of wood he made a kinda loud whistling noise before entering the cave, grinning a bit. "I got wood!" Setting the tinder down, he started to build a fire, before realizing that he had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Frowning, he looked at the woman. "Any advice here?" Five minutes later a fire was build and going, lots of extra sticks and branches to fuel it through the night.
Laying back in the sand, head on his arms, Vadik stared up at the ceiling as the light danced across it. He didn't realized how tired and how much of a head ache he had until he actually stopped to think about it. 'this will all go away in the morning' he thought contently, his eyes drooping. Before he let himself sleep, however, he asked the question that was asked many times. "What's your name, anyways? I've told you mine twice now." He looked over to the sitting woman, grinning a bit.

The warmth from the fire felt good as the cave was a bit damp and very cool. Derowynn held her hands out towards it's warmth, watching the flames dance and flicker inside the wood they were consuming. She started to realize that she truly did smell bad. It had been awhile since she bathed and she knew this needed to be remedied soon.

"What's your name, anyways? I've told you mine twice now." Her head jerked up as she heard Vadik speak again. She gave a sheepish smile before speaking to him for the first time. "I apologize for being so quiet. I didn't mean to be rude. I guess I am just, I don't know, shocked? confused?" A sigh escaped her as she poked at the fire with a stick, watching the embers float up into the damp air of the cave. "My name is Derowynn Hopkins. Dero is fine. I'm not homeless. My folks live in Lincoln, Nebraska. We were a military family so always moving from place to place and even after my father was discharged, we continued to roam around the country in an RV. I guess that wanderlust never left my blood and I decided to continue wandering when they decided to stay put."

Pulling off her shoes and socks, she stuck her feet by the fire and let out a bit of a satisfying sigh as if this felt good and was just what she needed now. "I was just in Denver. I love the mountains. And yea, I know, I stink. I took refuge in a dumpster to sleep so I didn't need to spend money on a motel room. I was working my way back to Lincoln and funds are short. So, you do what you need to do."

Looking up at Vadik she had a look of worry on her face. "I'm afraid, Vadik. What is this place and what was that thing that we saw back there? And what if there are more of them or even worse? I just want to go back home. I am done wandering. I will go to Nebraska, get a job and settle down. I don't want this. I want to go home!" At this she broke down crying. Her face went to her hands and she pulled her knees up to her chest and made herself small.

Vadik's eyes went wide as Derowynn, or Dero, started to cry. He hurried over to her, taking off Rhindon, sitting in back of her and wrapping his arms around her tightly, gently rocking. It felt a little weird hugging a stranger, but they were stuck here together, so might as well make the most of it. "We'll get home, don't worry. You heard that thing back there, those four siblings went home many times, you just got to find the right way. You're not alone in this, we'll figure out how to get home together." Vadik closed his eyes softly hushing Dero, still rocking side to side. He didn't let go until Derowynn stopped sniffling and crying. "Get some sleep, okay? I'll watch, make sure none of those things get us."
Scooting away, Vadik grabbed the sword again, standing up and putting his jacket on over the sweat and dirt stained white shirt. "I'll let you know if anything bad happens," He said as he walked back into the cold night. The moon was massive in the sky, a full circle directly above Vadik. Not wanting to stray too far from the cave, Vadik sat in the sand, leaning against a large rock that was half buried in the sand, like a bolder that was shoved off the cliff. Nothing happened for the longest time. So long that Vadik accidentally fell asleep at one point. When he woke up, however, he woke up to singing. Confused, Vadik opened his eyes. He glanced into the cave mouth to see the fire had died, and Derowynns sleeping form. The singing wasn't coming from the cave, but instead from the ocean.
Standing up, Vadik looked out, the moon just above the horizon. Walking forward a bit, he could see 3 shapes moving in the ocean. 3 girls were waving at Vadik, singing to him. Mesmerized Vadik walked to the waters edge, staring out at the girls. The singing was pulling him in. He didn't even realize that he was walking forward into the water, the waves hitting his shin. The singing continued to pull Vadik in, so mush so that the fish tales flicking around where the girls legs should be didn't even bother him. The water was waste high now, and Vadik was almost there, reaching for the girls. Now that he could actually see them, they were beautiful. Flowing long hair, strong features, beautiful smiles. Vadik smiled back, not even hearing the yelling of Derowynn behind him. He just simply kept wading out to the girls. The water was shoulder high, and he was struggling to touch the sea floor. He was within touching distance of the first girl, who was smiling seductively at him. Reaching out, Vadik grabbed the womans outstretched hand. Then, he was under the waves, the woman holding onto him, dragging him further out to sea. He let her, not struggling, keeping his eyes closed in the salt water, just smiling away, listening to the singing.

Derowynn turned over in her sleep, waking up to see the last of the glowing embers starting to fade out. Sitting up, she rubbed her neck. She had certainly slept on the ground before, but the rock of the floor of this cave didn't do much for sleeping comfort. The light of the moon was shining through the crack of the cave that served as it's door. Standing and stretching, Dero made her way to the door and looked out.

It hit her then that there should be someone else here, Vadik. Where was he? Derowynn looked around and scratched the back of her head. Yes, she was grimy and would fix that this next day. Perhaps a trip back to the brook in the forest that she had entered in on would serve the purpose. She seemed to remember some pools of water as she had walked through the forest.

Looking down at the ocean, she thought she saw some movement. Rubbing her eyes, she strained to see. Yes, yes there was someone or something down in the water close to shore. Vadik? Yes, it appeared to be him, but who or what was there with him? Not waiting to find out, she quickly made her way to the water where Vadik was. "Vadik!" she shouted down from behind him, but he seemed to not hear and kept wading out more. There were three other forms there too. But only heads seemed to be bobbing out of the water.

She called out his name again, the man was in the water up to his shoulders now. She followed in behind him and was waist deep in the water when he noticed the look of the creatures with him. They looked hideous and their eyes glowed red. Derowynn knew then and there this was trouble. She was just about to grab Vadik by the shoulder, trying to keep her head above the water, when he went under.

Her eyes were as wide as saucers as she watched and then heard the cynical laughter of two of the creatures that were looking at her and then waved a hand at her as if to say good bye. Quickly Derowynn went under the water and reached out with her hand. Nothing. She could feel or find nothing under the water. She as quickly losing air and needed to surface when something hit her outstretched hand. Feeling it again, she grabbed at it and found it to be Vadik's leg.

Grasping to it as tightly as she could, she started to tug the leg back towards the shore. There was resistance and at first, she felt herself being pulled further into the depths of the ocean. Her foot then found a large rock on the ocean floor and Dero was able to use it to stop from being pulled and then as leverage as she pulled back again. She tugged with all her might until Vadik's body seemed to float to her. Turning to face the shore, she made a few quick strokes to make way to it. A short time later, she was able to pop her head out of the water and gasp for air.

Soon Derowynn was able to stand and be out of the water enough to breathe. She pulled Vadik to her so she could get his head out of the water. Once she did, she noticed he was unconscious. Tugging with all her might, she made her way to shore and reaching it, pulled Vadik out of the water collapsed next to him. Turning to him, she could see he was not breathing. Rolling to her side and making it to her knees, she checked him for breathing and hearing or feeling none, she did a few pumps on her chest like she had remembered from a CPR class some years back.

Doing some more compressions, she finally bent over him, tilting his head back and breathed into his mouth. She did this a couple more times when Vadik started to cough. Dero watched him as he coughed and spit up water. Satisfied he was now breathing on his own, she collapsed back to the ground out of exhaustion and laid there trying to catch her own breath and rest for a moment. Sitting up suddenly as she thought of the creatures, she scanned the water, but saw nothing. She laid back down and asked in a soft voice, "Are you ok? Ya gonna make it?"

Vadik didn't say anything for a long while, still panting and coughing up a bit of water. He lay prone in the sand, his face tilted into it. Opening his eyes when Dero asked if he was okay, he looked at her, nodding his head. "They were singing, so I just followed it, and then I couldn't stop following it..." Vadik tried to stay calm. The entire time him and Derowynn have been here he didn't burst out, but at this very moment Vadik wanted to scream his head off. To yell at the world asking 'why me' and to just throw a temper tantrum. He didn't, however. Getting up slowly, Vadik started to walk back to the dark cave. It was almost time for the sun to come about, but Vadik was too tired, mentally and physically, to care.
Grabbing Rhindon off the ground, where he had left it, Vadik went into the cave, went to the farthest wall, and just plopped down, taking off his jacket and using it as a pillow. His back faced the cave entrance, but he heard Dero following him. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms. "Thank you," He mumbled before slipping into a light sleep. When he woke up the sun was up, and Dero was gone. Eyes going wide, Vadik grabbed his sword and sprinted out of the cave calling Derowynns name. He ran around, managing to find the stairs to Cair Pravel. Sprinting up them, he almost ran right into Derowynn. Her hair was wet, and her clothing seemed to be damp, like it had been washed. Although she still had a tiny hint of garbage smell still on her, she looked clean and fresh.
"You scared me! I thought someone had dragged you away or something!" Vadik suddenly hugged Dero tightly, ignoring the fact that he was getting sand all over her. Pulling away after a second He looked down at his own clothing. Although not as filthy as he could be, he was still covered in dirt, salt, sweat, and other things. Clicking his tongue Vadik asked, "Mind showing me where you went?" Following her, Vadik smiled when he saw the beautiful brook. It was a good size, and the current wasn't too strong. Stripping off his sword and jacket, Vadik knelt down, scooping up handfuls of water and splashing it on his face. He started to unbutton his shirt, glancing around the surrounding woods. Dipping the white fabric into the water, he worked on scrubbing off the dirt. He hadn't realized how helpful soap was until now.
Vadik squeezed as much water out of his shirt as he could, he hung it up to try on a tree branch. He was about to start pulling off his shoes to wash his socks when he heard rustling. Vadik looked around. Derowynn had left him to clean up alone, going off somewhere he didn't know. Stumbling over to Rhindon hurriedly, he ripped the sword out of its sheath, gripping it with two hands as the rustling continued. Vadik almost dropped the sword when he saw what was causing the noise. A old man, his left arm in a sling, and with a limp. Behind him seemed to be an army, some with their swords drawn, others just staring at half naked Vadik. "Well this is a very welcome surprise," The king-like man said, grinning to Vadik. Vadik didn't return the smile, still holding his sword tight, looking at the old man. His hair was long and white, and honestly Vadik had no idea why this limping old geezer was walking through the woods with an army. "I guess you don't know who I am. My name is Caspian, I am the king of men," He paused like this should mean something to Vadik. Caspian's smile faltered a little, confusion flashing across his face. He glanced down at the sword Vadik was strangling, comprehension and realization flooding his face, then it was replaced with extreme happiness. "The horn! It still works!" He looked back at the man standing closes to him, who seemed to be a younger version of himself. The young man, probably about Dero's age, looked like he was about to burst out in tears.
Vadik stood there, very confused as the two men embraced like Vadik was their savior. He shifted backwards, looking at the entire army around him. "My boy, you look so confused! Let me elaborate; I called you here using Queen Susans horn, although I did expect the Pevensie siblings," Caspian said, face smeared with tears. Vadik didn't know what to feel. Anger flashed through him, just as strong as when Dero fished him out of the sea. This man was the cause of Vadik and Derowynns suffering. He ripped them away from their lives and threw them into a world that should stay in the books. Vadik must of shown his rage, because multiple soliders started to grip their swords, about ready to pull them out and attack. "I am truly sorry, and I wouldn't have blown the horn unless I absolutely had to," Caspians smile faded, a sad look on his face. "I wonder if Ed and Lu are okay," He whispered to himself, eyebrows furrowing in thought. "Why the fuck did you bring us here?" Vadik demanded. Caspian looked up, being brought out of his thoughts. "Us?... There's two of you?" Vadik cussed up a storm in his head, cursing his slip up. Caspians smile was back. "If you could please go and find your partner, I can then explain where you are, and why you are here, back at my camp." Vadik hesitated for a moment before nodding. Caspian was the first human interaction him and Dero have had in the 24 hours they've been in Narnia, and he seemed genuine, although Vadik still was timid around the old man.
Picking up his damp shirt, sword, and jacket, Vadik started to walk back to the cave, frowning when he looked back to see the boy he assumed was Caspians son following him with three more guards. Passing through Cair Paravel Vadik walked down the stairs. Derowynn was standing on the beach. When she turned, seeing the movement on the cliff, Vadik was surprised to see she didn't bolt instantly. Looking like a child being brought to the principle, Vadik went over to Derowynn, giving her a little nod as if to say 'everything will be okay' turning and looking at the prince, arms crossed.

Derowynn stood looking at the waves crash onto the beach and then go back to their source. Her view of them was different today than it was yesterday though after the event of last night. She wondered what those things were and what else might be hidden under the waves. She never believed in sea monsters or any sort of strange creatures she read about in fairy tales, but now her view of that was different.

She wish there could be some new clothes to put on, a warm bath to be taken and warm food to be had. She wished she could get back home and stay there. This experience has zapped her of any desire to travel about anymore.

Dero heard them coming down to the beach and turned to see Vadik with a small entourage behind him. She was relieved to see this group seemed to be human and started to think that perhaps they knew how to get out of here. Their dress seemed to be something out of a Renaissance Fair. She wanted to giggle at first, but the looks on their faces were quite serious, so she held back the giggle about to escape her.

Biting her lower lip as she watched them approach, she finally said to Vadik when they were in ear shot of her voice, “Did you find some new friends, Vadik? Can they help us find our way home?” She was hoping a smile would cross his face as an answer to this question, but Vadik seemed to be in a serious mood. Dero just stood there quiet, waiting for what would happen next.

Vadik had told the guards to stay back as he talked with Derowynn. They obeyed, standing by the stairwell while him and Dero walked more towards the sea. Vadik stayed a bit back, tucking in his wet shirt like an annoyed teen. "They're the ones who called us here," Vadik mumbled, looking over to Derowynn. "Their king, Caspian, says that we are to follow him back to camp, so he can explain the reason we are here. I don't trust them very much, but I don't think we have much of a choice." He glanced back at the young prince, who was watching Vadik with a hard gaze, as if challenging him to run. Vadik simply tilted his chin up, trying to make himself look a little bigger then he already was. "Let's go grab the rest of the stuff from the cave, and we can then follow this lot to hopefully some beds. And food. Food sounds fantastic right now," Vadik said the last part with a watering mouth, eyes unfocused slightly as he thought of steak and burgers.
Shaking his head, he lead Dero back to the cave, the guards going back over to them. "Our camp is about two miles from here. Many people will be glad to see you two... Your Majesty's," The prince added the last part with a slightly sour look. Vadik gave the kid a weird look, but didn't question why he was calling them that. Going into the cave Vadik handed Dero the sword and the belt with the dagger and bottle. "I'll keep the bow and Rhindon, the dagger will fit your waste, and it wont hurt for you to carry the sword." Vadik grabbed the quiver of arrows, tying the belt around his waste, and put the bow next to Rhindon on his back. Still grave faced, he walked out of the cave, the prince smiling to him a little. "Are you ready to go?" Vadik nodded, letting Dero go ahead of him, keeping an eye on the men around her.
They traveled back up the cliff in silence for a while before the prince spoke again. "My name is Dakari, by the way. I don't think I got your guys' names." Vadik glanced at the prince, Dakari, before saying, "I am Vadik Nadir. She's Derowynn Hopkins. I'm from Brooklyn, she's from Denver." Dakari's eyebrows furrowed in though. "I have no idea where those two kingdoms are..." Vadik looked at Dakari like he was stupid, then remembered that they weren't in the United States anymore. "They're cities, actually, on a continent called America. Brooklyn is the farthest North East you can go, really, and Denver is almost in the middle of America," Vadik patiently explained. Dakari nodded, his face showing the slow comprehension of what Vadik said.
The group soon reached Caspian once again. When the old king, leaning against a tree, saw the two of them, his face broke out into the biggest smile imaginable. "Remarkable! You're not siblings are you? I just assumed that there were going to be four of you, but it makes sense now to have two rulers, not four." Vadik had so many questions, but instead he just kept quiet, going up to Caspian with a quiet Dero. "This is Derowynn. She's the one who showed up with me." Caspian still smiled, bending down and kissing Dero's hand softly. "It is a pleasure, my dear, truly... I am sure you two are hungry. Let us go back to camp, and feast! I shale answer all your questions after we've got full belly's, and plenty of laughter!" And with that, the king turned, and was on his way. Vadik glanced at Derowynn. He was still tense, but seemed to calm down a bit more.
The army of about a 100 men started to move, talking amongst themselves in groups. Vadik and Derowynn stayed close to Caspian and Dakari, who were chatting away happily. Vadik simply took in his surroundings. The forest was absolutely beautiful, and full of life. On multiple occasions Vadik saw deer, and squirrels, some of them actually talking to the group. They walked for about 15 minutes before Caspian actually noticed the bow on Vadiks back. The old king stopped walking, staring at the bow. "I see you have found her bow and arrow," He said in a loud whisper. Caspians eyes were wide, and watery, like the bow and arrow was a familiar ghost. Vadik raised an eyebrow, taking the bow off his back. "We found all our weapons in a hidden chamber... I know this belonged to the eldest girl, queen Susan. Did you know the old Kings and Queens?" Caspian slowly nodded, still staring at the bow. "We fought together against my uncle. Then again when a dangerous mist attacked the people here... That was just Edmund and Lucy, however. Peter and Susan got too old to come back to Narnia... Susan was the first girl I ever loved..." Dakari shifted uncomfortably, glancing between his father and the bow. "She was always so amazing with her bow, as if she was an elf." Caspian had started to cry, reaching out for the ivory handle. Vadik recoiled a bit, taking a step back. "I'm very sorry she is gone. I can tell she meant a lot to everyone here," Vadik said in a genuine voice. Caspian took in a shuttering breath, giving Vadik a sad smile. "I am too, my boy..." And with that Caspian kept walking. Dakari gave the bow a cautious glance before following his father. Vadik looked back at Dero, giving her a 'what was that all about?' look.

As they reached the camp, Derowynn looked in amazement at the site. It reminded her of a carnival or circus perhaps. Large colorful tents were set up, not random willy nilly, but in a well designed order. Banner and flags fluttered in the breeze that made it's way to this opening in the middle of the forest. The outer pickets gave a salute to their king, prince, and other officers as they passed by, and strange looks at Vadik and Derowynn.

Vadik and Derowynn were taken to separate tents. Derowynn watched, a bit concerned, as Vadik and her were separated. As he disappeared into a tent about twenty steps away, two young ladies came out of the tent in front of her and gave Dero a smile and curtsey. Derowynn was not well versed in proper etiquette, especially the etiquette that would be used in the setting of a court, so she simply gave the two ladies in front of her a slight bow at the waist. They two ladies, approximately Derowynn's age gave each other a sideways look and grin as one, who called herself Elizabeth, took Derowynn by the arm slightly about her elbow and led her inside the tent.

Inside the tent, Derowynn saw a tub filled with water that was steaming. Next to the tub was a table with an assortment of jars and flasks containing a variety of colored liquids. “A scout was sent ahead and told of your coming,” said Elizabeth, “so we prepared to receive you.” With a slight grin she continued, “He suggested you would need a bath and change of clothes.” Derowynn looked over to the other girl, whom she later found out was named Marribeth, as she heard her giggle a little at this news.

The two ladies helped Dero out of her clothing and then into the bath. The warm water felt so good on her sore muscles. At first it felt a bit too hot, but in a short time Dero found herself lying back and allowing the two girls wash her body and hair. Once they finished, they took her from the tub and and dried her off. After applying creams and perfumes, they handed Derowynn some underclothing to put on. Marribeth helped Derowynn into a corset, which Dero immediately started to complain about as it was uncomfortable.

Elizabeth then had Derowynn sit down and she took to work fixing Derowynn's hair. It seemed like she took forever to comb and brush through the snarls and after that braid the hair and afix ribbons and bows in it. As they were just about finished, Marribeth brought over a gown for Derowynn to put on, “You must look proper for the banquet with the king and prince,” she said. Derowynn just stared for a moment. She was not one for wearing dresses, but this gown was beautiful. Sh reached out to touch it, allowing the soft fabric to flow between her fingers as her hand moved down.

Elizabeth and Marribeth helped Derowynn into the gown and placed slippers on her feet. When she was done, the two, Who Dero found out were twin sisters, took a step back and admired their work. “It will do,” Elizabeth said with a grin. Marribeth nodded and then said, “We must get her to the banquet tent.”

The ladies took their leave from the tent and as they stepped outside, Vadik was also leaving his tent. Derowynn saw Vadik had also been given a make over and felt her cheeks blush a little. Turning to follow the ladies she gave one more look back to Vadik and then went on her way.

Vadik felt like 5 layers of skin has been scrubbed off him. The people who groomed him were also ladies, making the bath very uncomfortable, seeing as one of them was giggling like a maniac while the other just blushed and refused to look anywhere past his neck. After a few minutes of worrying that the girls were going to cut his neck while cleaning up his beard, Vadik quickly took the straight razor and mirror, saying he would do it himself. Cleaning up the edges, and getting rid of the stubble on his neck, Vadik then allowed the girls to help him dress. He wore a simple leather tunic over some pants and a shirt. His boots were stiff, one of the girls mentioning that they were brand new, just for him. Vadik also struggled with the leather cuffs they attached to his wrists, not use the weight and slight mobility restraint if they slid to high up. After putting Rhindon around his waste, leaving Susans bow next to his old clothing, and straightening his tunic, Vadik was ushered out of the tent into a large flow of people dressed just like him, almost all of them men. He didn't get the chance to look and see Dero, already being pushing into a large group that blocked his view of the tent. Shrugging it off, figuring he'd see her sometime soon, he followed the crowd.
There was a massive table set for 12 people, but only on one side. Two seats in the middle were the largest and most elegant. The rest of the area had pillows and small coffee tables set around it, most of the soliders sitting there, while the table was filled up by high ranking officers. Caspian and Dakari were sitting in the large chairs, Derowynn next to Dakari. Vadiks eyes went wide seeing her, properly groomed. She was very beautiful, and seemed to blush as Vadik stared at her. The two girls that groomed Vadik lead him up to the table. They curtsied to the king, pausing and looking at Vadik expectantly. Confused for a few seconds, Vadik stared at them before on of them motioned for him to bow. 'Oh' Vadik mouthed, bending a little at his waist. Caspian laughed loudly, having already helped himself to a bit of wine. "My child, there's no reason for you to bow. Come, sit!" Caspian pointed to the empty chair next to him. Vadik went over to the chair, glancing at Derowynn, raising his eyebrow slightly.
After sitting down, Caspian stood up. The loud chatter in the crowed stopped instantly. The King lifted his bejeweled goblet, smiling like Santa Clause. "To our new guests," He bellowed, "May they stop Aborjan, and rule just as well, if not better, then the four siblings!" Vadik leaned forward a bit in his chair as the crowed cheered, looking to Dero with a 'what's going on?' look. Caspian took a gulp of his wine, sitting back down, still smiling. "What do you mean by that, sir?" Vadik asked. "Don't you see, boy? That's why you're here, that's why I called for you! Narnia has picked a new King and Queen, and that happens to be you and Miss Hopkins." Vadik frowned, sitting back in his chair. "I thought you were king, though," He continued. Caspian was carving a large turkey in front of him. "Aye, I am King, but only king of my own kingdom. You two are the rulers over all Narnia. So you guys are technically higher then I am on the food chain."
Vadik was about to ask more questions, but when he saw the steaming food brought before him, all questions left his mind. He didn't realize how hungry he was until then, his mouth watering and stomach rumbling. Vadik helped himself, scarfing down food happily, trying not to moan at the fantastic taste of everything. He even liked the wine, despite not being a massive alcohol lover. Vadik didn't push for anymore information on their being there until after everyone had eaten their fill, and now everyone was just sitting by the torchers, talking. Dakari had gone off to woo some girls, leaving Dero, Vadik, and Caspian sitting at the table. Vadik turned his chair a bit, looking at the lounging King. "Who's Aborjan? Why do you think it's us that is suppose to slay him? Not to burst your bubble, but neither of us are much of a fighter." Despite obviously doubting Caspian, the old king still smiled. "My boy, Narnia does not make mistakes! When I first met you, your instincts told you exactly what to do, and how to move. You know when to be careful around people, and when to give up the fight and trust them. I'm certain Miss Derowynn here is a very convincing talker, when she does converse," Caspian turned to Dero, grinning to her.
Vadik shifted in his seat. Although still not believing Caspian, what he said did make sense. Even though Vadik was a writer from Brooklyn, being here just felt right. Rhindon in his hands, Susans bow on his back, it all felt natural, like he was suppose to be wielding such weapons. Vadik looked to Derowynn, wondering if she felt the same way with the weapons given to her. Clicking his tongue, Vadik took a sip of wine. "And what about Aborjan?" He repeated. Caspian frowned at the name, looking down at the table. "He is a wizard. A sorcerer claiming to be the real king of Narnia. He's a hater of men, and a corrupt ruler. He wants to kill all things mortal, claiming that death is the lowest thing imaginable. He's afraid of it, constantly trying to find ways of immortalizing himself. You want to know what the funny thing is? Aborjan hates all humans, but he himself was once human."

She knew it would happen. Before she even started to eat she knew she would eat way too much food. The smell of the food as it was set before her was almost too much for Derowynn to handle. She could not remember the last good meal she had. It had been a couple of days at least and she was starving.

As the crowd around them started to leave, Dero sat pat and held a hand to her stomach. In her mind she cursed the corset as it seemed much tighter now and seemed to be digging into her sides. She could hardly wait to get back to the tent and undress. For a brief moment she thought of taking the gown and corset off right here and sitting in only the bloomers she was wearing to cover her bottom half.

Looking over to Vadik, she listened to the conversation that he was having with Caspian as she slowly sipped the red wine from the goblet it was in. The taste of the wine was sweet and satisfying. She closed her eyes for a moment to relish the taste and the sense of safety for perhaps the first time since she arrived in this strange land.

“He is a wizard. A sorcerer claiming to be the real king of Narnia.” she heard Caspian say about this man he called Aborjan. This made her open her eyes. She listened as the king explained more to Vadik about this awful man. The she finally spoke, “I don't understand. You say it was you who called us here. Why us? As Vadik eluded to, we are hardly soldiers. Surely there must be some mistake. Surely you must know how to send us back.

Caspian looked over at Derowynn, a somewhat sad look on his face. “I know this must be all a bit of a surprise for you, but mark my word, there is no mistake. I blew the horn and it was the two of you it summoned. The horn holds powers to bring those to the land that it has chosen as it's champions.”

Derowynn took another sip of her wine and giggled a bit. Perhaps it was the wine or perhaps just a response to the king and his words. “Well, my dear Caspian, I think your horn made a mistake this time. I don't know the first thing about fighting and I don't believe in things like wizards and magic...or weird creatures like that half man half horse thing we saw. I am sure I will wake up from this dream soon enough and be back in the comforts of the dumpster I was sleeping in.

Caspian sighs and looks back to Vadik and then to Derowynn again. “My dear, the sooner you come to grips with the realization that you are here, this is real, and the horn does not make mistakes, the better off you will be. “ Letting out another sighs, Caspian rises from his chair and turns to the two. “It would be good for all of us to get some rest and speak about this some more in the morning. I bid you good night.” With that he gave them a short bow and turned to walk out of the tent.

The ladies who attended both Vadik and Derowynn moved to them to guided them back to their tents. Dero looked at Vadik, “Do you really believe all of this? I mean, is this for real? Does he really believe we can help him in his fight?”

Vadik crossed his arms and frowned at Dero's question. He thought for a moment before answering, "I don't think he's entirely wrong. I cannot deny what I have seen, and I know that I can not dream all of this up, even as someone with a active imagination. It all seems very bazar, but maybe Caspian is right, there is a reason we are here." Vadik could tell this was not the answer Derowynn wanted. He stopped walking, looking sternly, "I'm not 100% about it either, but these people are the only ones who have the answers on how to get us back home, Derowynn. Let us play along for a while, and see if they really are true or not." Continuing to walk, they were lead to separate tents. The beds were as soft as a cloud, and the blankets were extremely warm in the cold night. Vadik did not realize how tired he was, and how much he wanted to sleep in a bed, even after one night of sleeping on the ground.
When he woke up, he could tell someone was sitting on the end of his bed, softly touching his leg. Vadik didn't open his eyes, half expecting to be back in the cave with some mermaid or centaur stroking his leg. When he did, however, he saw it was one of the girls who dressed him. She smiled seeing him awake. "Master Nadir, I see you are a sound sleeper." Vadik did not answer, staring at the girl with a weird face. "My name is Rowen, his Majesty assigned me to you, as a personal servant," The woman said with a small smile. Vadik slowly raised his eyebrow. "Caspian wants you to be my secretary?" The woman, Rowen, looked confused at this, Vadik only just remembering where he was. "That's a thing from back where I'm from, sorry... So you're here too...?" Vadik sat up, pulling his leg out from under Rowen's hand. "Whatever you want, my lord. Bathing, grooming, fetching you food or drink. I am your to command," Rowen smiled again, looking almost like a goddess with her beauty.
Vadik stared at her for a second before asking "Where do you come from?" Rowen looked taken aback by the question, furrowing her eyebrows. "I am from Galma. It is a island off the beach where Cair Paravel is," She obediently answered. "And how did you come to be here?" Vadik asked, tilting his head. "My family left Galma when I was a teenager. We moved into King Caspian's kingdom, my father becoming a very trusted councilor for the king. When the castle was attacked, everyone fled, and so now we are here. I wanted to be useful, so I told King Caspian to put me wherever he needed me." Vadik nodded once and a while as he listened to the story. "And where is your father? Does he know you're being... Put under my command?" Rowen's eyes instantly started to water. Vadik regretted his question at once. "My father died when the castle was taken over. Many people hate King Caspian and his court for being such magic lovers..." Rowen started to cry, looking away to hide her face. Vadik sat awkwardly for a second before shuffling over, hugging Rowen. She jumped slightly, looking up at Vadik very surprised, like she expected him to do nothing. "I know how it feels to lose the ones you love, and all I can tell you is that the wound will always be there, but it will get better." Rowen cried for a while, Vadik not moving away until the tears reduced to sniffling. "There we go," Vadik smiled, wiping away a tear, "All better now." Rowen gave him a small smile, mumbling her thanks.
"Rowen! Hurry up and wake him! Breakfast is almost-" The second girl who had bathed Vadik had come in, but stopped upon seeing the two hugging. Her jaw dropped, and her eyes went wide looking between the two. "No, no, no, no, it's not what it looks like," Vadik said, leaping off of the bed, but the girl was already gone. Rowen jumped up too, chasing after the girl yelling a inaudible name. Vadik stood there dumbfounded before gathering himself up and getting dressed. He continued to wear Rhindon, but left the bow leaning against his bed. Walking out into the beautiful clearing, Vadik went back to the 'mess hall', sitting next to the very happy Caspian once again. "I hope you like Rowen, my boy, she's very loyal and will serve you well!" Vadik silently nodded, grabbing some sausage from a platter that was being passed around. "After breakfast, you will be taught how to actually use that sword of yours, and the bow. Speaking of which, Susan never got around to naming it, like Peter named his sword. Sense it is now yours, what would you like to call it?" Vadik thought for a long while before saying, "Arwen. I shall call it Arwen."

Derowynn woke to someone running past her tent and the sound of a voice saying, "No, no, no, no." Opening her eyes, the tent was flooded with the light of the rising sun. She sat up on the bed, her hand landing on the pillow were a wet spot was located. She quickly picked up her hand and looked at, then grinning she took the back of her hand and wiped the side of her mouth to find a trickle of drool still there.

Elizabeth and Marribeth entered the tent at that moment, both giving a curtsey to Dero and it was Elizabeth who spoke first, "Mi lady, how are you on this fine morning? The king awaits you at the banquet tent where breakfast is about to be presented. We are here to tidy you up and dress you.

Derowynn nodded and swung her feet from the bed and stood up. Marribeth quickly came to her and undid the ties that held nightgown in place. The gown slid down her torso and ended in a heap around her feet. Derowynn blushed bright red as she stood naked in front of the two women who seemed to not mind at all. Elizabeth came with a sponge full of warm scented water and wiped down the entire body of Dero. Marribeth came up next and dried her body off with a towel of the softest material she had ever felt.

After giving Derowynn a few mists of a perfume, they gave her a fresh pair of bloomers and fitted her with a corset again. A light gown was put on her that was cut low in the front revealing her cleavage, which once again made her blush. Sitting her down, Elizabeth started to work on Derowynn's hair as Marribeth put shoes on her feet. The whole process took all of fifteen minutes. There was no doubt in Dero's mind that these sisters were very good at what they did.

As if on cue, Dakari poked his head into the tent and asked if "Lady Derowynn ready to be escorted to the banquet tent. She looked at the sisters for their approval. They both nodded and Derowynn walked towards the prince who held a crooked arm out to her for her to take hold of. This she did and the two made their way to the tent.

When they entered the tent, Derowynn saw Vadik already seated and eating and speaking with Caspian. Dakair took her to a seat at the left side of Caspian and helped her take her seat. Caspian turned to Derowynn and smiled, "And a very good morning to you, Lady Derowynn. I do hope that you found the rest last night to be refreshing."

Derowynn nodded her head and said, "I did indeed, Caspian. You certainly do treat your guests well here." Caspian frowned a bit at this statement and slapped his hand on the arm of his chair, "Ahh, yes, well, I much rather be hosting you and Vadik as guests in my castle and not some army tent. But, that day will come, I know it will. Vadik and you will see to that as you both lead us to victory over Aborjan." Dero just nodded a little, her eyes meeting with those of Vadik. Her gave a sense of uncertainty. She was not certain what his eyes were saying.

Vadik glanced to Dero, who was giving him a weird and uncertain look with her eyes. He raised an eyebrow slightly to shower her he agreed with whatever she was feeling. Looking back at Caspian he continued to politely smile, eating despite the feast he had yesterday. "Today the captain of my guard will train you how to use the weapons you carry. Specifically a sword, although he will also show you how to use that bow, Arwen," Caspian said after a sip of his goblet. Vadik shifted slightly in his seat. "If that is what is required of us, then we will do it." He glanced back at Derowynn, a frown flicking across his face. If Caspian was taking the time to teach them self defense, then that meant they weren't getting home anytime soon.
Vadik ate his food in silence, getting up once finished. "I'm going to tour the camp, collect my thoughts," Vadik said, pushing his chair backwards. Caspian smiled and nodded while Dakari stood up as well. "Would you like me to show you around?" Vadik shook his head. "I'd prefer to figure my way around myself, thank you Dakari," He said as he walked away. It didn't take long before Derowynn found him, and started to silently walk beside him. "I want to go home... Not fight somebody elses war," Vadik growled, dodging two solders who walked between them. "This is all insane, but what's even worse is that I'm starting to get the feeling that we really are meant to be here." Vadik noticed Dero give him a weird look, making him frown. "I know all you want to do right now is just get home, so you're not even paying attention to any other emotions, but when you really sit down and think about it... Personally I'm already forming some sort of bond with this life style. You know, fighting, making decisions, working with people for a common goal. I mean that's what me and you are doing right now, we're working together to go home, but maybe this is our home..."
Vadik stopped walking. He shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. Clicking his tongue, Vadik mumbled, "I know I sound crazy talking about all this emotion stuff, but this might actually work out. Not the war part, that part's still messing with me, but the instinct to step up to this so called throne..." Sighing Vadik looked around the busy camp, watching the people talk, or deliver something, or sharpen tools. It was amazing to watch, and to be in the center of. Turning to Derowynn, Vadik asked, "What do you think?"

"What do I think?" Derowynn responded to the question, her face turning a slight shade of red, "What do I think?" he voice now elevating and nearby people stopped doing whatever it was they were doing and turned their gaze upon the two. "I think you are going mad! That's what I think! I think you feeling that in some way this is all rational and that perhaps you and I both belong here is lunacy! That's what I think!" Dero turns her back to Vadik and walks a few steps away from him before turning back to face him.

"How in the world can you think any of this makes sense and that in anyway, shape, or form either of us belong here? This is some sort of bad nightmare and both you and I need to wake up from it. I cannot explain why we are here, how we got here, or if any of this is actually real and that is what scares me the most! And I certainly will not put my life in danger to fight for some old man who claims to be a king and says he called us here to be his champions. How can any of that make any sense to you? What kind of nut job are you?" Dero continued with her rant.

Now moving back to Vadik and getting into his face, her finger pressing into his chest, "You can take that fancy sword you found and seem to have fallen in love with and go and learn how to use it so you can die for that old man for all I care, but I have no intentions of picking up a weapon to fight in a war I am not part of for some whack job that for all I know is a figment of my imagination. It's bad enough that these two women come in and undress and wash me. How degrading! And now he wants us to learn how to fight so he can use us in this war of his? I don't think so! You can do as you wish, but I am looking for a way to get out of this bad excuse for a dream and get back to where I belong!"

Elizabeth now came running up behind Derowynn and started to take her by her arm, "Mi lady, we should go back to your tent. You seem to..." Derowynn quickly turns on her, brushing Elizabeth's hand off of her arm and then pushing her to the ground. "Get your hands off of me! I don't want you or your sister anywhere near me! Do you understand me?" Derowynn is about to go and kick at Elizabeth as she tries to pick herself off of the ground when Dakari runs up behind her and puts her into a bear hug. "Mi lady, what seems to be wrong?" he asks her, but by this time Derowynn is kicking and flailing as Dakari starts walking towards her tent with her under his control.

Elizabeth gets up and brushes her off as Marribeth comes running now quickly behind the prince and the hysterical woman he is dragging away. Elizabeth bows before Vadik and says, "My apologies, mi lord. We will work to get Lady Derowynn under control. She seems to be distressed and perhaps some sleep will aid in her recovery." At this Elizabeth runs to the tent which by now Dakari and Marribeth have entered with Derowynn. Her shouts and screams are still heard and the people in the area are still standing and looking from Vadik to the tent and then back to Vadik.

Caspian now walks up to Vadik and puts an arm around his shoulders, "I am certain this whole thing is a shock to the both of you. No doubt the distress of the lady has sent her into this rage. Please do not take anything personally. At some point, I know you will be allowed to leave this world and return to your's if you so choose. Whoever is in this world will always have the power to summon you back such as I summoned you this time, but when your work here is done, Aslan has always allowed for those summoned to return to their own world." Caspian patted Vadik on the back and said, "Come, let me take you to the training grounds."

His wooden sword slammed against Vadik's knee, knocking him onto his side. Vadik gasped, all the air leaving his lungs, just barely rolling away from the second blow in time. On his back, Vadik kicked the heel of his boot in the captain's leg, pushing the old man backwards. Standing up, despite screaming protest from his knee, Vadik grabbed his sword on the ground, parrying a swing from Ben, the captain of the guard, and hitting him in the shoulder with the hilt of his sword. Ben smiled, stepping back, walking in a circle with Vadik. A large group had gathered around the makeshift fighting ring, cheering and whooping with every attack the two men made. Ben's style of teaching was to teach you the basics of sword fighting, then throw you right into the center of it. Vadik had now learned how to properly hold, swing, parry, and block a sword. The fight had gone on for about twenty minutes now, and Vadik was learning fast.
Ben lunged forward, swinging down onto Vadik. Vadik blocked the sword, throwing Ben off balance, then spun, swinging his wooden sword straight into Ben's lower back. The captain instantly fell to his knees, yelling "You win, you win!" Vadik quickly took multiple steps back, grinning at the loud cheers of the men. "You learn fast, good sir!" Ben stood up, laughing and smiling wide, patting Vadik on the shoulder. "I have a good teacher, but you over estimate my abilities, it was just beginners luck. Let's go again, but this time don't hold back." Ben nodded, throwing his sword to the side. "Give us the training swords, we shall have a real battle," Ben said to one of his men. Vadik dropped his wooden sword, eyes going wide when he saw what the 'training swords' were. They were real metal, and their blades were dull, but could still break skin if you were hit hard enough. Grabbing his sword, Vadiks wrist instantly flopped downwards, the weight of the sword much different from the wooden ones. The good thing about Rhindon is that it's light, and feels balanced in his hand, but these swords were damaged and seemed to have been made poorly.
Vadik and Ben fought for another 20 minutes, Vadik holding himself well, but still loosing the fight all the same. By the time dinner came around, Vadik was nursing a split and bloody nose, as well as multiple bruises on his arms and side. His knee that was hit by the wooden sword was swollen to hell, and gave him a heck of a limp. Rowen had found him trying to get to his tent, hissing and cursing with each step. "Master Nadir!" She rushed to his side, inspecting his slightly bloody face, and bad knee. "Let's get you to your tent, sire. I can heal you," Rowen said, giving Vadik a smile. Putting his arm around her, Rowen lead Vadik to the tent, laying him down on his bed. Pouring some water into a bowl, Rowen grabbed a strip of cloth, and started to wash Vadiks face. She was quiet, but Vadik could tell that she wanted to ask something. "What is it?" He asked. Rowen hesitated, but then asked, "Is Lady Derowynn refusing to help us?" Vadik frowned, but nodded a bit. "She's not exactly happy with her situation. She's too homesick to see that you guys really do need our help. It's hard to let yourself believe all that you guys are telling us, I'm still not sure myself, but the stress and impossibility of this all is too much for Dero." Rowen was quiet for a while, washing the blood off the cloth. "What makes you accept all of this so easily, for the most part?" Vadik thought for a while. "I cannot deny what I've seen. That angry centaur, Cair Paravel, the fact that one moment I was in a coffee shop, and the next it was being ripped away from me. Caspian gives me no reason not to trust his word, and I'm the type of guy that will do what he can if he sees someone in need. I don't care what you say, about me and Dero being chosen as your King and Queen, all I care about is helping your world fix itself. Even if that means fighting in a battle. I've accepted that I'm stuck here, I might as well make the most of it."

She woke up some time later, not sure where she was or what time it was. Looking around her surroundings, it appeared to be the tent she was given for her lodgings. The tent flap was open and she could tell from the lamps lit inside and the dim light outside that it must be dusk. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she let her feet touch the wooden platform that was there as a tent floor. Her was was still spinning. Derowyn had only been drunk once in her life, and this was how she remembered that as feeling.

She felt the bed lower next to her and then an arm go around her waist as a hand lit upon the hand she had resting on her thigh. Looking over with a jerk, she saw Elizabeth there. "Where did you come from? I didn't see you when I woke," Dero said. Elizabeth gave a her a soft smile and her hand slowly rubbed up and down Derowynn's arm. "How are you feeling, mi lady?" Elizabeth asked.

Derowynn shook her head a bit, "Like I have been out drinking. I had this dream that I was with Vadik and we were walking and started to argue, then you were there and somehow lying on the ground. And then I was drug into a tent by Dakari. Ugh, I need to stop eating so much, it is playing games with my mind." Elizabeth just gave her a smile and didn't tell her that it wasn't a dream and that they had to give her a sedative in order to help her settle down. She just continued to rub Dero's arm and speak softly to her. "Would the lady like to have some supper? The meal time has past, but King Caspian ordered that food be set aside for you. I could send for Marribeth to fetch it for you if you should like."

Derowynn just put up a hand and shook her head 'no'. "I don't think I could eat right now. My stomach isn't feeling quite right. Perhaps I had too much wine and don't remember." Elizabeth stood up and turn to Derowynn, holding out her hands to her. "Perhaps a bit of fresh air will do the lady good? Come take a walk with me." Derowynn looked up at the woman, not sure if she really wanted a walk right now. Looking back at her pillow thought it might be a better option, but before she could refuse, her hands were taken and she was pulled to her feet.

The two women took a slow stroll around the camp grounds, then Elizabeth led Derowynn through the forest and up to a hill. Several of Caspian's soldier were standing there, fully armored and armed. She could see they were looking out into the distance. Derowynn looked to where they were looking and could see smoke rising in the air from flickers of what appeared to be hundreds of small fires. "What is that?" Derowynn asked. One of the soldiers who appeared to be the leader of the assembled group spoke up. "Those are the campfires of Aborjan's army. We have been watching for several days now. Each night there are more fires telling us more of his followers are arriving. Soon it will be too late for us. If we do not attack soon, he will overwhelm us and all will be lost."

Derowynn frowned a bit and turned to look at Elizabeth. "Why did you bring me here? What is it you thought would happen? Did you think I would say 'Let us attack now'? I have told you I wish for no part of this as I have no skill or ability to help you out. However it is that I came t be here, well, it was a mistake. All I want is to go home."

Elizabeth sighed, "That may be, mi Lady, and perhaps going home would be what is best for you, but it would not be what is best for us. If you were not intended to be here, the horn would not have brought you to us. You have a purpose for being here and the sooner you come to grips with that and figure it out, the sooner you will be able to go back to your proper home." By this time Elizabeth spoke with a bit of fire. She was no longer seeming to worry if she was using proper protocol with Derowynn, she was just upset.

Derowynn watched as Elizabeth turned and started to walk away. It then hit her that she did not know the way back to camp, especially now that darkness had fallen, and she better follow along. "Hey! Wait for me. Elizabeth kept right on walking and Derowynn took off after her in a slow trot.

Vadik woke up slowly, his face buried in the pillow, then he rolled onto his back, and finally opened his eyes after a few minutes. All his muscles were screaming in pain, and his nose felt blocked, like it was swollen. Groaning, and wincing, Vadik sat up, looking in the small mirror propped on a dressing table. His nose was indeed black and blue, a nasty cut on the bridge of his nose. Lifting up his night shirt Vadik could see many bruises on his ribs, like he got into a brawl. Which is exactly what he did.
Vadik put his shirt down, hearing Rowen walking into the room. She smiled to Vadik, softly grabbing his chin and lifting his face up. Inspecting his nose, Rowen frowned a little bit. "He went too harsh on you for your first time fighting. Ben should know better," Rowen mumbled. Vadik smiled, pulling Rowens hand away. "Thanks for your concern, mom, but I'll be okay." Grunting, Vadik got up, slipping on his usual daily outfit, with little help from Rowen this time. "After breakfast, we will take your measurements for armor, then you will be taught how to use Arwen, your bow," Rowen explained, like she rehearsed it. "If you'd like, between those times we can explore the surrounding woods, I can answer your questions about Narnia, and its people." Vadik smiled and nodded, slipping on his boots. "That sounds great! Mind if Derowynn comes along? Despite her reluctance to be here, she might enjoy learning about everything."
Rowen raised her eyebrow, looking confused. "Although it is not my place to ask, sir, but why do you forgive Lady Derowynn so easily? She yelled at you, called you crazy, in front of all your subjects. If someone did that to King Caspian, they would be locked up." Vadik shrugged a little. "There's two ways I can handle what happened yesterday. I can completely ignore Derowynn, and pretend she doesn't exist, or I can get over it, and forgive her for blowing up. Trust me, a few days ago I would have blown up just like her because I was so stressed out, but now my questions are finally being answered. I just hope Derowynn will relax once she actually understands." Rowen tilted her head a little bit as she listened, nodding at the end like she understood. "Let's go to breakfast, then I will show you to the armory to get your measurements."
At the dinning tent, Vadik saw Derowynn was already there. He smiled to her, sitting next to her. "Me and Rowen are going for a walk after a few things, before lunch. We wanted to know if you'd like to come. We could actually learn about these people, hear their history. I thought it'd be fun," Vadik smiled wide. "Think about it. If you wish to come, meet us here in a hour and a half." Vadik started to eat his food, talking with Caspian who was explaining one of the weirdest journeys Vadik has ever heard. He was on a ship with Edmund, Lucy, and their cousin. The cousin was turned into a dragon, and they had to fight a giant sea monster in evil mist, all because they needed to get magical swords to wake up some important people. It was all very bazar, but it was a great book idea.
After breakfast, Rowen lead Vadik to a large tent, a stocky man writing something down with charcoal and parchment. It looked like inventory. When the man saw Vadik, he instantly bowed. "My lord! How great to see you! I assume you are here to be measured!" Vadik nodded, smiling. "Fantastic! Step on this pedestal, and I will measure you!" The measuring took about thirty minutes, and the decision on what to make the armor look like took another hour, seeing as Vadik had no idea what the names of the styles were. When they were finished, Rowen and Vadik made there way back to the dinning tent to see if Derowynn actually wanted to go with them on their informational nature walk.
