Tsuro Hozuki

It was another rainy morning, water flowed past Tsuro as he stood on a maintenance path at the point where a large storm drain released into one of the canals that fed the excess water into the large body of water that surrounded the village. True to it's name, the Hidden Rain Village was subject to almost daily rainstorms. Tsuro found that he didn't mind it nearly as much as other people might. After all, the feel of the rainwater falling from the heavens to land on his skin was actually rather soothing, much better than the miserable desert that characterized the Hidden Sand. He allowed himself to enjoy the sound of water flowing by and the feel of raindrops hitting his face for a few moments as he levelly surveyed a row of buildings across the canal before turning and walking back the way he had come. It was a bit of a walk back to the maintenance shaft that led up to the abandoned warehouse the Akatsuki were using as their base of operations in the city, and the underground storm system was labyrinthine enough that most people would get lost after spending much time down there. Kira had been a major help in mapping out the system and helping familiarize the rest of the Akatsuki with it such that they could now navigate the system without difficulty, a fact that would no doubt serve them well in the days to come.

Returning to the warehouse base, Tsuro left behind the sound of rushing water and was left only with the sound of the rain pattering down on the warehouse roof. He had finished briefing the Akatsuki members last night. They had gone over what plans they could make, though there wasn't a lot they could do but wait for the right opportunity to present itself, and perhaps lure their prey off away from others. That would require more on the fly planning and exploiting those opportunities as they arose. It had been almost a week since they had infiltrated the Hidden Rain Village, and they hadn't been idle. Other than setting up their hideout, they had conducted general recon of the village and their targets. With this, they had learned a good deal about the opposition they faced. They now knew that each jinchuriki had a number of personal guardians who would doubtless interfere in their attempt to capture them. Over the course of their surveillance they had acquired some good information on both their targets and their guardians that would help even the playing field, despite their numerical and geographical disadvantage.

Now that it was time to get moving, Tsuro gathered up his gear, strapping his short samurai sword and his ninja tool pouch to his waist before donning the black and grey poncho and wide-brimmed straw hat characteristic of the village's civilians. Tsuro gave the final brief to the other members of Akatsuki. "Alright, this is it. Our recon phase is over, if you have an opportunity to get the jinchūriki or kill their guardians, take it. We're at a disadvantage numerically, so work as a team. Strike hard, strike fast, and get out. The tunnel is clear, time to move out." Moving to the entrance to the storm system, Tsuro pried open the cover and indicated the other members needed to move out. "Kira with me, let's move."

------

The rain was already falling at the jinchūriki compound as the day began. The compound was an austere place of low, grey, stone buildings, with the exception of the wooden house the ninetails had built for himself. It was set up as a designated safe zone for the jinchūriki so that they could sleep without having to worry about catching a knife during the night, guarded by Hidden Rain shinobi.. As far as the jinchūriki and their guardians knew, it was a day like any other.

Asura Senju

Wake up you lazy ass, you've slept enough already and you have things to do... The voice of Kurama rang out in his head and snapped him from his slumber, the wonderful dream about his harem of beautiful kunoichi, a reoccurring dream for Asura. Shut up... Can't you see I was enjoying myself. Kurama was always bugging him, not that he minded, Kurama and Asura had been on outstanding terms for a long time and that hadn't changed even with all that had happened in the last years, in fact they had only become closer. For those years he had spent alone, on the run and away from people, Kurama had been his support, the one person, and he did consider the tailed beast a person, for him to rely on. Even more than when he was young that was true, and even with how intrusive his friend could be he would have it no other way. Just get up, you have shit to do today and I get bored when all you do is sleep, at least move around a bit and think about doing SOMETHING. Asura sighed, his eyes opening to reveal the dark room he called home. It was a rather extravagant room, created using his own wood release so he didn't have to stay in the drab metal buildings that were so common in the Hidden Rain Village. Aside from being rather large, not to mention having some beautiful design from the mind of Asura, there was also a good bit of material goods scattered about, the most interesting being the over-sized bed he was currently lying on, as comfortable as they came and fit for a king, something he had acquired since his arrival. It made it all the harder for him to get up and he had learned the best way to get out of bed was similar to removing a kunai from the leg, quick and without hesitation, difficult but manageable.

That was what he had done, moving quickly off of the heavenly bed and onto his feet, moving away from it and over to the fridge, knowing few things could rouse his mind more than food, though a beautiful woman would do the same. He reached inside and grabbed a couple of rice balls, eating them with one hand as he used the other to slide on his usual attire, including the face mask, a piece of his outfit he kept on for the mysterious angle, not to mention it was always fun to keep people guessing as to his intentions. He kept it down for the moment of course, eating the food came first and only when he had finished scarfing them down did he move the mask up over his mouth and nose. It was only then that he dared to go see what time it was, opening up the thick curtains and laughing to himself, "Okay I'm lazy..." He muttered, Kurama only acknowledging with a slight grumble. It was nighttime already, he had ended up napping through the previous day and no doubt everyone else was already asleep. Not that he minded, in fact Asura liked the idea of some time to himself, none of the others in the little compound sectioned off for himself, the other jinchūriki, and their guardians would be awake. He couldn't be sure, there were a few more odd ones among the group but it would limit the chance of running into others for until morning at the very least.

Regardless he was already up and going back to sleep was no longer an option and so he headed out of his room and into the compound set aside for those protected by the Village. As he stepped outside he did as was his habit, looking around the compound and taking everything in. The area wasn't exactly impressive, the buildings made of stone not serving more of a purpose than a place to sleep. It had been that way for awhile, talks of giving them more appropriate housing had arisen but the village voted for safety over comfort of living. Asura had taken it upon himself to upgrade his own accommodations, he could have probably done it for the other as well but if they had a problem with the grey stone they didn't show it. He shrugged, that wasn't really his problem, it was just the cards they had all been dealt, a small little walled area for them to sit under guard, it could have been worse.

Asura didn't plan on lounging around the compound, he finished his little survey and then took off, walking off in a leisurely manner, making his way to a spot he had found that was nice and secluded. At first it had been a location he used for naps, to escape the questioning ninja who always wanted to talk his ear off, but it had turned into much more. He now used the location for training and as far as he knew nobody had yet to discover the location, though he was sure if someone wanted to find him bad enough it would be discovered and ruined. That was why he generally used it at night and kept a clone or two as a sentry, keeping them in more obvious locations and letting them be found first. He didn't do that this time, he was training and it was nighttime. Yes, training during the night, or anytime he could get away from prying eyes. It wasn't that Asura was paranoid, he just disliked being watched, having others know his habits, especially those involving training in any way.

He ended up training for quite some time but in the end he had decided to take another nap, becoming bored after hours of touching up his techniques. So he slept, sitting up against one of the many buildings of the industrial city and nodding off, a bitchy muttering from Kurama coming as he did. Of course he didn't nap long, the rain drops pattering against his face and rousing him from slumber. With a sigh he stood again, he figured it was going to be another dull day, even more with rain being a factor. Ever since arriving he hadn't been able to go on many missions, he spent most of his day eating, training, or wandering around the village. He did make some time to speak with the large amount of kunoichi in the village but even that was limited and he hadn't gotten to know the other jinchūriki or guardians much at all, tending to stick to himself, still not able to settle in after what happened in his own village, what he had done. The thought alone caused him to grimace and Asura pushed the thought out of his head, he didn't want to think about that and he began walking away from his secret area, moving through the streets, watching as shops were peddling wares to early risers and as some shops just began to open. The rain didn't stop anyone in the village from going about there day and Asura had become use to it as well. He even stopped at one point and grabbed a bit of street food but after that he made his way back towards the compound, he wasn't sure what he was going to do but he might as well be around, people tended to worry if he was just gone, especially the guardians, whether it was his own or others, each of them being assigned because they worried about the fate of the jinchūriki, as well as being strong enough to hold the position.

Mei Hoshigaki

Uhggg.... Why are you up now? spoke Isubo, talking to Mei in her own head, while said woman was out in the middle of the night in full combat gear. It was not uncommon for ninja to wear combat gear when on night missions or traveling, but Mei was in the Hidden Rain, not a mission. I'm training, what do you think I'm doing? She spoke back to him in her head. Isobo might be a tailed beast, but even he came to fear Mei a little bit. She was always on 11, never quitting anything, to the point of self-destruction. He admired her training, but it was the middle of the night, and he knew training in secret was sometimes necessary, but she honestly over did it. I know you want to be the best and shit, but get some Kami-damn sleep. I’m bored watching you practice the same move over and over again. Whined Isubo. Mei blew him off and set up her tactics one more time.

She was in the training fields of the village, so it was highly unlikely that anyone would see her at this hour. She liked the hidden Rain, it was similar to the Mist, large metal buildings, although they were fewer in the Mist, and most importantly, it was damp everywhere. In the Mist, it was foggy, so condensation created that effect, here however, it was just rain. It made her feel at home a little bit. But she shook the thought. Her current training involved killing an enemy without using water, and only the Hidden Mist Jutsu. She was good at this, but she needed to get better.

The training dummy was in the middle of a clearing, standing at a typical stance of an enemy. Mei then used Hidden Mist Jutsu to create the large field of mist and then she would focus Charka in her feet, increasing her speed. She used this to hop from tree to tree, and every other time, she would throw Senbon at the target. Senbon by themselves weren’t that dangerous, but when used at high speeds and correct targeting, deadly is what they were. After five minutes she came down and saw her target looked like a porcupine needles almost everywhere. It was a definite kill, and each spot hit would disable the target, she was indeed raised by the Mist.

She collected her gear and heading back to the compound, getting a long deserved sigh from Isubo. She reached the compound and went to bed, with Isubo saying before she fell asleep, Perfect as always Mei. Just remember to be a girl in between killing things. She smiled and fell asleep.

When she awoke the next day, Isubo complained about sleeping in, to which she yelled at him. She open her fridge and got out some Dumplings she had been keeping from a shop in the village. She loved cold dumplings, and so did Isubo. She geared back up, tied her headband around her forehead and headed out. Not many people actually knew her that well. It wasn’t like this was a vacation, but even her guardians seemed slightly disinterested, and she knew that was because of her. She wasn’t the easiest person to get along with, she was always high maintenance and she knew it.

She made her way into town and actually bought a dress from a store, something she would never wear in front of anyone, it was sleek and red, and she just wanted it. Returning to the compound, she wondered if anyone would try and catch her if she ran off, most likely her guardians and maybe the jinchuuriki, but most other people wouldn’t out of pure fear. She smiled at that thought, others had come to fear her a bit, and she walked into the compound feeling a little better. Isubo rolled his eyes at her.

Ryke Uchiha

"Shen! Shen!" Ryke screamed. He was running through the woods as fast as he possibly could, turning and turning, searching every direction. "Shen this is not funny!" he yelled. His brother kept appearing behind trees off in the distance, too far for him to reach quickly, and even when he did reach them his brother would be too far away again, laughing from behind another tree. Ryke continued running, continued trying to catch his brother. He couldn't remember the exact reason he was chasing Shen but he knew that he needed to catch him to save him. No matter what he would yell his brother would keep running farther away, laughing as if it was a game of cat and mouse. Ryke was running for what seemed like an endless amount of time, never making progress. Finally though, he saw Shen up ahead just walking through the trees, still in the opposite direction, but at least not moving too quickly for Ryke to catch. He sprinted even harder toward him, making sure he didn't get away this time, but as he did his chest suddenly grew heavy, his legs began to feel like bricks, and he could hardly breathe. He tried to push through it, ignoring his fatigue to reach his brother and save him, but the closer he got the more exhausted he felt. "Shen!" he yelled again. Sweat was now completely covering Ryke's body as he used all of his energy just to maintain a jog in Shen's direction, and soon his muscles were in such pain that walking was all Ryke could bear. He continued forward though, and it seemed that he really could reach his brother, he was so close. Ryke reached out his hand, attempting to grab the little bit of Shen's red shirt that hung out slightly, but the closer his hand got the more painful his entire body became, until the point that he was screaming just to move his leg another step. As his hand came within just inches of reaching his brother, the exhaustion overwhelmed him completely, and he could go no further. Ryke stood in place, helpless to save his brother, his immense sweat camouflaging the tears that were rolling down his face. His brother simply continued to walk away from him, disappearing into the distance.

Ryke awoke, breathing heavily and staring up at the ceiling; the dream he just had was a recurring dream for him. However, it had been almost a year since the last time he had experienced it. Over the years Ryke had been experiencing the dream less and less, which makes sense since it was 21 years ago that his brother died. Of course, the dream still always made him remember his best friend who was taken from him. Over the years he had tried different things to change the outcome of the dream including confronting his father and even going out into the woods to try to make peace with what had happened, but the outcome of the dream has always been the same, Shen is always just out of reach. Ryke sat straight up in bed, wiped away the sweat from his forehead, placed his legs in a crossed position, and close his eyes, immediately beginning his morning routine of a brief meditation. Meditation was one of the few things in the world that brought Ryke peace of mind. For him, meditation and genjutsu were where his mind flourished, things became clear, his thoughts could flow and there were no distractions, whereas in his normal state his mind would often feel cluttered with many different thoughts. He began to meditate on where he was in his life at the moment. He had come to the Hidden Rain Village with the main task of being guardian to Asura, carrier of the ninetails, and he was lucky enough to have qualifications to do so because of his Anbu training. He decided to follow Asura out of the Hidden Leaf Village because he disagreed with the village and the way they handed over the jinchuuriki so freely. Ryke had always been suspicious of the Akatsuki because his father always told him not to trust the Akatsuki, and despite some resentment toward his father, Ryke respected and trusted his father more than anyone else. Of course, even with the trust toward his father, Ryke did not immediately distrust the Akatsuki for no reason. It was not until they deceived everyone by making them think that the jinchuuriki could be left alive during the removal of the tailed-beasts, at that point Ryke had decided that his father was right. And so, when Asura left the village to take refuge with the Hidden Rain, Ryke followed, believing that the greater good was protecting the innocent.

Overall Ryke didn't care much for the village, not because of the constant rain, but just because there was never much to do. He has always loved to meditate and greatly enjoyed his periods of calm, but in between he had also always loved adventure and a good bit of a challenge. That is part of the reason that Ryke felt so comfortable in his guardian position. Speaking of guardian, Ryke had not seen Asura in about two days because he tends to go off to a location that Ryke has yet to find. Mostly out of boredom, Ryke stood up, stretched his arms outward, threw on his clothes, and headed out towards the town to see if anything interesting is going on.

Kira Hyuga

The Akatsuki organization had become Kira's life, it wasn't the perfect fit but she could see her own goal being accomplished with help from the skilled members within the Akatsuki and for the moment that was enough. Besides, since joining she had come closer to her goal than she had ever managed to get on her own. With that being said she was focused on the Akatsuki mission as well, for the time being it was the priority, as for the moment she could further her own goal no more. Her own goals had to wait, she had to wait for the right time to take action. As far as timing went it was convenient timing for her mission to be put on hold, the Akatsuki forces had recently moved into action by infiltrating the Hidden Rain Village and surveying the last remaining Jinchuuriki and their guardians. It hadn't been difficult to infiltrate the village and mapping it out had been even easier for Kira, her eyes and skill set allowing for easy navigation and recon in the otherwise congested and industrial village. It hadn't all been easy of course, they had taken great pains to discover certain things and to establish a true presence in the area, a secret base not exactly being easy to find. Well easy maybe but not one that provided secrecy as well as being centrally located and allowing for all of their needs to be met. Easy or not they had done so, they had found a warehouse that suited all of their group and individual needs, or at least that was true for Kira. She had a little area to herself in the compound and inside was a rather dull and unimpressive room, though there were a few secrets here and there. Kira didn't need much, only privacy, so it didn't matter to her, she was more interested in things such as secrecy and base security than luxuries and if she, which had been taken care of.

Kira didn't look after the details of base security herself, she had been the scout and cartographer of sorts, making maps with specific targets routes and key locations. Tsuro had taken care of that aspect of things. Tsuro, the leader of the group, he was an odd man not because his manner was different or awkward but because his motive was murky. Everyone who had joined the ranks of the Akatsuki had a clear goal, one that they had to make a least partially clear before they joined, the man in charge was much more vague about his reasons. He was steadfast to the cause which was all she could ask for, not to mention capable, but she still had some curiosities that hadn't been sated. She would figure it all out in time, for now she listened as that leader prepared his gear and began to speak, her own equipment being readied long ago. "Alright, this is it. Our recon phase is over, if you have an opportunity to get the jinchūriki or kill their guardians, take it. We're at a disadvantage numerically, so work as a team. Strike hard, strike fast, and get out. The tunnel is clear, time to move out." She had assumed they would be taking action soon, she had done as much as she could for now as farm as scouting and preparing went, she was ready and so it seemed Tsuro was as well.

"Kira with me, let's move." Her eyebrow raised when her name was called, she hadn't expected to be paired with Tsuro but she didn't say a word, a simple nod being her confirmation before she followed him out of the compound. She watched him closely as they made their way to the heart of the city. She had a feeling he was wary of her, she hadn't done much in terms of solidifying relationships or getting to know the other members during her brief time among the Akatsuki ranks. Perhaps that was the reason the man had chosen her to partner with him, a strategic decision to watch over the more mysterious of his group and ensure no nasty surprises awaited him. He would be bored if that were the case, as much as she liked laying traps she didn't have any in store for him and that was no likely to change anytime soon. It was amusing though, the thought that she wasn't trusted. There was the possibility she was completely wrong, in which case none of it mattered, but she liked being pessimistic, her life had proven that being optimistic only allowed for more devastating things to happen and she was done allowing such disappointments to blindside her. However her attention shifted once she laid eyes on the compound, the buildings all belonging to the targets they would be crushing over the next period of time. A smirk crossed her lips beneath her mask as she eyes the lone wooden building. The Nine-Tails. She found him to be an arrogant one, not that his arrogance was completely undeserved but it was a nice weak-point which he made so obvious. Things were becoming fun.

Yuuto Shīru

The man that was Ryo Sabaki would walk solemnly down the grey streets of Amegakure towards his home. Dressed in the traditional Ame-nin attire it would be clear to anyone observing that Ryo had either returned from a mission, or patrol duty. The answer was the latter. It had been a month since Ryo had being withdrawn from the Ame sensor division to serve as a sensor in the jinchuuriki compound. Not that this was a bad thing, being promoted to the new position was an honour, not to mention the benefits and income it would bring his family. Nonetheless work was tiresome as the protective unit at the jinchuuriki compound was constantly on guard for any wishing to infiltrate the compound or attempt to harm the jinchuuriki inside.

Ryo lived, as most do in Amegakure, in a high rise flat and apartment building. Ryo entered the building, finally getting out of the gloomy weather of the hidden rain village. With a sigh of relief, Ryo pressed the key into the lock of his apartment door, and moved inside to his awaiting family. Ryos four year old boy Ryoichi ran at his father, tackling into his knees. Ryo rubbed the boys head affectionately as his son beamed up at him, looking over to his wife Miya, who smiled that special smile reserved for him.

As his wife and son went to bed, Ryo bade them goodnight and retired to his small study. Ryo's work did not end when he left the compound, there were reports to be written, chakra frequencies to be observed. At least that would be the case if Ryo existed, for Ryo had not been Ryo for two whole weeks, and in his place, in his study seat sat an impostor by the name of Yuuto Shīru. At the beginning of their operation Yuuto had being tasked with infiltrating the compound in some form, using his genjutsu abilities to assist him. Yuuto could not take all the credit for his successful infiltration, as it had being Kira who had chosen Ryo as Yuuto's victim, which also served Kira well, removing one of the pesky sensors who kept jamming and interrupting her work. It was an easy task capturing Ryo, those who have emptied their chakra and exhausted themselves are hapless prey to genjutsu of any kind let alone Yuuto's. Helpless and blind, Ryo had walked right into Yuutos spider web, shortly being locked away inside Yuuto's Kuchiyose: Iron Maiden.

This wasn't the first instance of Yuuto's deceptive infiltration methods. No, for years Yuuto had terrorised the village of the hidden mist, using his genjutsu to start clan feuds in his ever continuing hunt for the whereabouts of his sister, who had been kidnapped by hidden mist-nin. However skilled in genjutsu and impersonating others Yuuto was, any guise, especially in such a secure and strict facility such as the Jinchuuriki compound would be uncovered eventually. It was time to move on, and moving on to another guise required the removal of any connections to his previous mask. Not that this bothered Yuuto his victim was no longer of use, and any sort of moral obligation he felt towards his 'hosts' family was drowned out by his utilitarian ideals.

'That fate of mankind is shifting out of balance, and the upholding of such balance outweighs a few mere lives'he thought, preparing to decide on the best way to euthanise the connections to his 'host.

Yuuto had many options, each unfortunately with a consequence. He could murder the family now, with any method he desired, but their deaths would rouse curiosity, and curiosity is a dangerous thing. On the other hand he could always release Ryo from his Kuchiyose, if Ryo's mind was still intact that is, the poor man had being locked in that nightmarish contraption for a very long time now. An apartment fire would wipe all evidence and lead to no suspicion, but releasing Ryo and tampering with the mans memories would be best. Unfortunately Yuuto lacked the time and method of which to do such an act, so he had to resort to what he did best.

------
Ryo opened his eyes slowly, risen by a thumping and agonising pain in his temple, his hand instinctively rising to rub it. His hand met his temple and he, with horror, felt the familiar damp wet texture that any ninja knew all too well. His eyes still adjusting to light, having being trapped in darkness for almost a two weeks, though Ryo knew little of what had occurred, or that an immense time had passed since he had last scene light, even if the said light was the glow of moonlight at dusk. The only thing Ryo truly remembered was the cackles of a mad man, before he had being trapped in some sort of iron maiden, and then the sinking feeling one develops in their stomach when falling from a high height. He struggled to get to his knees, wondering where the source of blood had come from, for it was not his own. Moving around on his knees he slowly recognised the surroundings to be the furniture of his apartment, to his horror, close to where he had being lying he found his tanto unsheathed and drenched in blood. Frantically scrambling to his feet, using the walls and furniture to support himself and moved towards his sons bedroom, catching his breath at the door and placing his hands on it for support. The door was hot and as he opened it slightly hot tendrils of flame lashed out into the hallway. Ryo cursed loudly slamming the door and scrambling towards his bedroom. To his horror the white sheets of his and Miyu's bed were stained red, unable to gaze upon the site of his dead wife, he fled the room, moving into the hall that had now begun to set aflame. He knew these flames were not natural, for they chased him to the study. He collapsed, his back resting against the door, staring dumbfounded at the blood on his hands.

'Surely this is a dream' he thought desperately. 'This cannot be'. And all at once, Ryo remembered the cackling of a man prior to his capture. Knowing that this had to be a genjutsu Ryo calmed himself focusing on the remaining chakra in his body. By stopping the flow of chakra in his body and then applying a strong surge of chakra, stronger than the caster of the genjutsu, that is the process of Genjutsu Dissipation, Ryo became free of the genjutsu. Ryo sighed in relief, however his short moment of calm was usurped by the immense heat coming from underneath the door. Broken, Ryo rose from his slumped position and moved towards the desk to find work he had being working on open as he had left it. On top of this work was a rope, fashioned into a noose. Ryo cursed loudly, coming to the realisation that this was a reality that he had constructed for himself. He had murdered his family, destroyed his home, and now was planning his suicide. Though Ryo failed to understand why he had done such a thing, he followed suit, accepting that he had perhaps lost his mind, and that deaths sweet embrace would finally deliver him from his madness...

-------

Yuuto glanced down at his pocket watch. Ten minutes had elapsed since Ryo had hung himself, and as he placed his fingers on the dead mans neck he confirmed the death of his previous victim, Ryo Sabaki. Yuuto yawned, swiftly leaving the dead man in his studying and opening the door to the main apartment area. The apartment was intact, no flames, no blood stains. While Ryo had being able to reverse the original genjutsu placed on him, his exhaustion and lack of chakra, and perhaps due to Yuuto's skill in Genjutsu, had caused him to be unable to see that he had fallen prey to Demonic Illusion: Double False Surroundings Technique. For Yuuto had placed three identical Illusions over Ryo, so that even if he managed the strength to reverse one of the illusions, he would still perceive the illusion as reality. The flames and blood that Ryo had felt were only in his mind. For genjutsu controls the flow of chakra to the victims cerebral nervous system, thereby affecting their five senses. Any pain he felt was from trauma, and anything he saw was false images, illusions that Yuuto had constructed. Now that everything was taken care of, Yuuto departed from the building, now making his way towards the Akatsuki hideout under cover of darkness, he yawned loudly, hopefully Tsuro had thought of something interesting to task him with.

Kaoru Fuoka

Kaoru gave a sigh and relaxed further into the hot water, feeling the tension in her body ease with each passing second. It was just what she needed after an early morning training session.

"It's official," she spoke aloud, pure bliss rolling off her tongue. "Amegakure has the best bathhouses ever. Of all time."

"I am inclined to agree."
Kokuo, the Five-Tailed Beast, stated, his voice deep and booming within her mind. "The water has a nice feel and texture to it."

Kaoru gave a snort, shaking her head. "That's not surprising, coming from the resident Dolphin Demon. You'd like anything about the water. Even if it was toxic and poisonous."

"True. But still, this feels nice."
Kokuo responded cordially.

Kaoru had to give the Tailed Beast that much. Demon, human, Jinchuuriki, or whatever; there was no denying that this hotspring felt so damn good.

It made Kaoru wish she could spend eternity in this bathhouse, just washing her troubles away. No more Akatsuki, no more hiding in Ame, no more worrying about what was happening back home in Iwa...no more conflict or pain or anything. Just eternal bliss. How nice that would be...

Unfortunately, that just wasn't possible. She had too many responsibilities and troubles for that to even be a remote possibility. Still, it was a nice thought...

Kaoru soaked in the steaming water for another five minutes, enjoying its soothing effects. Then, with a good deal of reluctance, she slowly stood to her feet, and walked out of the water. She dried herself with a towel, and put her clothes back on. She stretched her limbs for a moment, working some feeling back into them. With that done, she left the bathouse, and drifted back over to the compound where the Jinchuuriki were housed.

Life in Ame was...something. It definitely wasn't home. Iwa was a proud and stout nation, and everything about the Stone's very nature was molded into the earthen buildings of the Land of Stone. Ame...well, it felt like the exact opposite of Iwa. And it wasn't too surprising. The qualities of the Rain were different from the qualities of the Earth. Still....it made her quite homesick. She had grown up in Iwa, and it had been the only home she'd ever known. Ame wasn't too bad in of itself, but...it still didn't feel like home to her. It probably never would be...

But would that be so bad? After all, she wasn't going to spend the rest of her life in Ame, was she? Kaoru rather hoped not! It was dangerous to venture outside the protective walls of Ame right now, of course, and trying to go back to Iwa now would probably get her killed. Still...she wanted to go back home one day. She was still a proud Kunoichi of Iwa, and she was still loyal to her Village and to her Tsuchikage father. The current political climate prevented her from going back home, but perhaps one day, things would be different. Maybe things would die down, after a few years or so, and she could finally return home...

Maybe it was naive of her to believe that. But still, it was something to hope for, something to achieve. As long as she had some sort of goal, she had a purpose in life. And at the moment, that was enough for her.

"Have faith, little one. I am confident that you will return home one day." the voice of Kokuo rang demurely inside her head, projecting confidence to her.

Kaoru didn't answer it, and felt a flare of annoyance that it invaded her thoughts. But the Gobi meant well, and it had been nothing but kind and cordious to her since being placed within her body. And their thoughts were largely shared between them both now, too. So it wasn't right to scold him over listening in on thoughts he couldn't help but hear. Even if he was a bit noisy at times. Kokuo truly did mean well.

"Thanks, Kokuo." she replied at last, mentally smiling at the Tailed Beast. "I appreciate your reassurance."

"You are welcome, Kaoru."
the Gobi replied, a pleased note in his tone.

The young Kunoichi continued her way to the compound, and eventually arrived. She wandered over to the small metal building that was, essentially, her new home, and walked inside. She moved into her bedroom, and picked up a small book that rested on her nightstand. Now that she was done training for the morning, a little more relaxation couldn't hurt; and besides that, the novel was quite good, too. She was eager to finish it.

Kaoru opened the book and continued where she had left off.

Kaido

Kaido gave a pleased smirk, his finger delicately testing the tension on the trip wires leading to the multitude of traps he had recently armed. His segment of the warehouse was more than living or training space, it was an operating room and research space. He was keen on keeping his secrets heavily guarded so that if anything were to go wrong he would be able to destroy the evidence of his research in a moments notice. After all it would be poor publicity to have his dead soul cadavers brought to the light of day.

With a content sigh he straightened his back, stretching his arms above his head with a well earned yawn. “I suppose it’s time to acquaint myself with the locals.” He mutters to himself as he dawns his robes. He was cautious to not be seen entering or leaving the warehouse, choosing to take back alleys out into the main streets.

He wore a friendly demeanor, giving a smile or kind nod to those he passed on the streets. His long pipe hung from his lips as he strode, a sweet smelling mixture cascading from the bowl. His home acclaimed villages umbrella kept over his head shielding him from the daily rain of this place.

“I wonder where a man could get a decent drink around here.” he says with a light hearted chuckle glancing down the sides of street. He starts heading to the more commercial segment of town. Despite his relaxed demeanor he was acquiring information and as always looking for potential research subjects.

Asura Senju

Asura arrived back to the compound soon enough, he was a bit wet but the rain didn't bother him enough for the ninja to avoid getting wet. In fact he always joked that it made him look good, sexy, and he wouldn't give up a chance to have feminine eyes following him. Of course that wasn't the only reason, sometimes he simply enjoyed the feeling of the rain water, and while it meant he had to change, not wishing to be soaked for an extended duration of time, it did make it normal for him to walk around in the rain. Besides, in the hidden village it was nearly impossible to stay dry when it rained unless one walked around with an umbrella all day and Asura would be damned if he was about to tote around something so tedious. While it was still raining it was useless to change though, especially with him, and most likely everyone else becoming use to the constant downpours that plagued the village. Sure there was the occasional shine of the sun but it never lasted more than a few hours. It seemed backwards, much like the current situation with the Jinchuuriki, their own villages forcing them to flee instead of working with them, everything was backwards.

As with the rain Asura dealt with the circumstances that had driven him to flee his old home, his only real reminders being his memories and some personal effects, though his guardian evoked a similar remembrance. The man who had vowed to protect him was an Uchiha, Ryke was a good shinobi and a decent guy, rather odd but Asura wasn't one to judge, not being who he was. They hadn't known each other well before, they had fought together several times but not in the same unit and while they were both powerful they had much different styles of fighting, styles that countered different ninja and thus they were often used in separate capacities. That being said the Uchiha was doing his best to keep tabs on Asura, watching over him and always seeming to be prepared for whatever trouble would eventually befall them. Asura had done his best to keep a distance, the memories associated with the village which the man evoked not exactly being pleasant, at least not the ones which plagued Asura's mind as of late. It wasn't easy, not when the ninja was tasked with protecting him but so far he had managed to keep a relatively good distance between them, keeping to himself and going about his own business.

Asura went inside his place when he finally reached the compound, ignoring other people and heading inside, grabbing up a few things, including some extra money, before heading right back out. There was no point in staying inside his house, there was little to do inside when he was alone and it wasn't as if adventure or beauty would just come walking through his door. Well it had happened once but that was not how things usually worked out. So he went back out towards the town, walking casually and without much care for anybody watching him, which happened quite often. The Jinchuuriki had received a relatively warm welcome from the Hidden Rain, they had been eager to assist the hosts in keeping their lives and depriving the Akatsuki of the last remaining tailed beasts, and they seemed particularly happy to receive such strong support from such actions, many ninja following the Jinchuuriki to the village, as guardians if they were strong enough and as mere supporters if they were not. It had brought increased prosperity to the industrial village and made it easier to defend the precious remaining beasts at the same time.

So people were glad to have them, at least most were, not only due to their belief that the Jinchuuriki were innocent but also due to the economic wealth and power that they brought with them. Asura didn't care too much about that however, he was more interested in some company, food, and perhaps a bit of Sake. Hell if he got bored enough he would even play some card or find a good place to nap, the latter being one of his favorite activities, whether it be without or after having company. In his time in the Hidden Rain Village he had yet to find a favorite spot to spend his time, he had a few inns and bars with decent service, to him that being reasonable prices and beautiful serving girls, but the industrialized city had a good deal of businesses and he had yet to investigate them all. Besides, he had never found one that contained everything he wanted of a high value. He had found places with great food, found places with good sake, beautiful women, comfortable seating, and a few places with great prices, but never any with all of them. There always seemed to be something lacking and most of the time it was the food or the women, sometimes both. He was still on the hunt for the perfect place to call his usual, as much as he hated being consistent and easy to read he wanted a spot that he could rely on to keep him relaxed and happy. He was intent on finding it and for the time being that was recon, looking around aimlessly, the best way to do things in his opinion.
