Introduction

After "The Last" events...

Naruto's actions had left a long lasting peace between the five great nations of the shinobi world. There was no more wars for many a year, and the villages prospered. This did not last forever of course, as the Feudal Lords who ruled the nations were not as changed as the Hidden Villages. In time these lords came to see their shinobi forces as too passive in military matters and so the Hidden Villages were named as traitors to their own nations and attacked by armies of mercenaries. The Fifth Great Ninja War began long after Naruto's death, but his memory still stained the Hidden Villages with pride.

Fifth Great Ninja War

While the fighting was fierce and the death toll high, the war was unable to be stopped until one or both sides were consumed by the hate and mistrust that had brought it about in the first place. For an entire year the war waged on, the Hidden Villages retreating to the neutral Land of Iron until they could take back the lands they had been driven out of. Eventually the shinobi villages won out over the Feudal Lords and defeated their armies. Now the governments had changed hands, the Kages now in control over the entire nation, not only their ninja villages. The only case this was not true for was the Hidden Mist Village, who's population had been annihilated early in the war. As retaliation the other Hidden Villages wiped the land clean of human life, leaving the islands barren as a monument to the war.

The Religion of Purge

The void of power in the old Land of Water did not stay vacant for long. Immigrants from another land sailed to the archipelago and claimed it for themselves, bringing with them their bloody religion of Purge, worshiping a god who was nameless and cherished self mutilation and human sacrifice. It was not for many years that these immigrants would be known to the remaining villages, and when they found out what these people did they all decided to leave them to their own devices as long as they did not provoke the shinobi world.

The Loss of the Biju

After the Fifth Great Shinobi War, the Biju had all miraculously disappeared. No one knows how when or why, but all nine tailed beasts had vanished without a trace. At first many believed that a group similar to the Akatsuki of old had stolen them, but since no group had made themselves known it was assumed that none existed. Theories had been proposed that perhaps their lifespan had been reached and they simply withered away, or returned to the realm from wince the Ten Tails (and by regard the Biju) had come. It has only in the last few years been learned that a temple hidden to the far east had been erected and there the Biju have been sealed into each a statue of said Biju. The Gedo Meza statue is also there sealed in a separate chamber guarded by an old sage. Only potential guardians of the temple or those who wish to become Sages may enter the temple, but many leave offerings outside the front gate.

The Uchiha

During the time between the Forth and Fifth Great Wars, Sasuke made true on his vow to restore his clan, but because of the Uchiha's fate of a cursed life their numbers have never fully returned. Only a handful of families are scattered around the world, their total numbering somewhere between 100 and 140 clan members. Sharingan holders are even rarer, and most have been hunted for their eyes or are hidden in the villages secret Anbu corps. During the war the Uchiha took both sides, hiring themselves to the Feudal Lords as mercenaries. Because of this the Uchiha are mainly outcasts when around other shinobi and are seen as no good trouble makers.

Present Day

As the shinobi world presses on into the future, technology has grown into a comforting stability instead of focused on war.(Modern day technology, minus guns of course) Communication has been drawn closer together and is bringing people together from around the world. But rumors have been spreading about a new group of people calling themselves the "Shojuko". These people do not yet have a known motive, but their name has been seen everywhere and so far no one knows what they want. This instability in the peace has turned the Kage's attention back onto the threat of war. Tensions have risen as threats and speculations are abound. And the question you should ask of this is....

...Where do I fit in?

Arc I: Whispers of Treachery

This tale begins in a time of confusion nearly 100 years after the Fifth Great Shinobi War has ended. Rumors are circulating throughout the villages and over the Internet about recent terrorist events that have been appearing. Bombings in The Hidden Cloud, kidnappings and disappearances from many nations, mysterious tellings of a group known as the Shojuko, and sightings of strange creatures affiliated with violence throughout the shinobi world. These stories and accounts are beginning to make the populace of these nations ask questions of their government, putting pressure on the Kage and other leaders to give them answers. The Kage are all on edge as they try to find out who or what is responsible for the unrest and balance their normal duties along with these pressing issues.

Meanwhile, the Shojuko are on the move. They are still looking for more members but are acting in secret and running from the Anbu of multiple villages hunting them down. They have the upper hand, but stealth is still their strongest weapon. They are searching for something, or someone, and it does not seem like they will stop at anything to reach their goal.

Far to the East on an old island, a temple lays silent but for the sounds of shinobi training for combat. The four guardians of this temple know it used to be the ruins of the Jinchuriki haven, but now it is used to keep the Biju and Medo Geza statue hidden from the world. The old sage who holds this statue captive in his seal senses it might be time to set things in motion. He considers sending one of his guardians to the ninja villages, and set the hands of fate to their beginning.

For now, the ninja villages know little of the situation and life goes on as usual. People come and go, things are bought and sold, life continues as it always did, only now you hear the rumor hear and there about things stirring in the dark. What part will you play? Well, now is the time to decide. Arc I:Chapter I: Set the Stage
