Sage Cartwright

What is it like to have a real family?

0 · 107 views · located in The Redbird Mansion

a character in “Never Had a Family”, as played by Everscale

Description

Name: Sage Cartwright
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Role: Orphan
Appearance: Streaming, ashy-blonde hair and large, soft blue eyes. She is not very tall, more average height for a girl, which makes her very short when compared to most boys. Her skin is very pale, because she tends to hole herself up in her room when she is sad, scared, or confused, which she often is. She likes wearing blue, mostly dark blues, because a very long time ago her father told her she looked good in blue. She is very thin, mostly because she is too shy to take more food, and doesn't eat when she doesn't really feel hungry. So she almost never eats a real meal.

Personality: She is one of those people who just doesn't see themselves clearly, at all. She doesn't see herself as pretty or strong or smart. She doesn't think that she is good with people. She has no real ego, and no belief in her own abilities. She doesn't need them; she simply does what she believes is right without thinking about whether it may or may not be possible. She would jump in front of a bullet to save a cat, because it is the right thing in her mind, and it would never cross her mind that it might get her killed. She is a hard worker; she does not like to be taken care of. She prefers to work for herself so that other people can do the same for themselves. She doesn't like people doing things for her because it makes her feel like she has to pay them back, and in a world like hers there is no guarantee that she will ever get to pay them back. She is usually calm, polite, but a bit shy and withdrawn, not participating much in the conversation and spending most of her time looking down at her fidgeting hands. Because she has never had a family, she is more comfortable doing household chores than playing games, and she is more comfortable with animals than people. She tends to get nervous in large, crowded places, and prefers to be curled into a corner in her room wrapped tightly in a blanket. What she does not realize is that this is an instinct from her lost childhood; she always wants to be in her mother's arms.
Likes: Animals, cleaning house, cooking, gardening, reading, heavy blankets, small spaces, zoos, theme parks, aquariums, libraries, amusement parks, feathers, bells, sun-crystals, martial arts, soccer, basketball, horses, thunder storms, high places
Dislikes: Hospitals, crowds in big places, very large dogs (until she gets to know them), pain, needles, darkness, being alone (she always had a room-mate in foster homes and in the orphanage)
Hobbies: Cleaning, mostly. It wasn't possible to have continuous hobbies, moving from place to place. Friendship-braiding and reading are the only things she kept with her.
Quirks: If she is scared, sad, alone, or confused, she will curl up in the corner behind her bed and wrap herself up in a blanket so she can't see. She fiddles with her hands when she is nervous or thinking. Hugs are her weakness. Give her a hug, and she might just melt in your arms. Literally; she will burst into tears in your arms. It is one of the only ways to get her to cry.
Fears: All of her dislikes, heights (or rather, falling from heights)
Life Goal: To have a real family of her own. And never leave them like her mother and father left her.
Occupation: Soon to be student

So begins...
