New Adventures in a Digital World

New Adventures in a Digital World

Four teens are suddenly sucked into a portal that sends them to a different dimension full of monsters and hardship. Will they ever be able to make it home and why were they ever brought to this place? ((Restart))

~Real World~

The world is much like our own. Technology seems to occupy everyone, as well as people's jobs (or trying to get a job). The economy isn't the greatest but everyone is doing the best they can. However, the weather has recently started to go berserk! It has been blazing hot with temperatures as high as in the hundreds in Alaska, when it is normally cold and snowy. In the middle of summer, many places that normally would have nothing but sunshine are experiencing freezing snow storms! Tsunamis have stuck places that have never seen such a natural catastrophe. Experts have yet to figure out why the weather has gone haywire, but some say it is our own faults.

However for four teens, all they are worried about is Summer Camp. It is a general camp, more of a vacation place than an actual camp. All their worries are gone and all they have to focus on is fun, and the camp is promising just that for most of them. Upon arrival, the four kids are told that they will all be staying together in one large cabin and are instructed to get to know one another.

However their fun is interrupted by some freak snow. The teens go out to investigate and that’s when everything changes. As they gaze up at the sky they see lights similar to the Northern Lights, however they are far from Alaska! From those lights, beams shoot down and presents small digital devices to each of them. As soon as they notice though, they are suddenly sucked into this weird portal like thing!!
This is where their adventure begins!

~Digital World~

The digital world is a place very similar to some of the places in our world, however still very different and dangerous! It is somewhat a primitive world but it still contains technology, some that exceeds any seen in the real world. The world is vast and is composed of two continents, Folder and Server. Within these two continents are very different places that range from standard looking cities to forest. The world is full of digital monsters that will either help or hurt you.
However even the once friendly digital beasts seem to now be evil for some unknown reason. Could it be that is why the children were summoned to this strange land?

The teens will wake in what looks to be a normal forest, however creatures suddenly appear and speak to them. These creatures, unbeknown to the teens, are called Digimon and have been waiting for these teens for a long time.

~Important Information~

Digimon: Your digimon will be assigned to you based upon your character. Some will receive the same digimon thats the digidestined started with, others will not. If you are completely and utterly satisfied with the digimon you receive, I will give you two options other than that digimon to chose from. Digivolution will be a mystery to you and when the time comes for your digimon to digivolve, you will receive a PM to give you the information you need.

Evolution: As I have stated, you will receive a PM to explain the evolution when your digimon digivolves. In order for a digimon to digivolve, it must acquire enough 'energy' which can be either consumed through food or fighting with other digimon. It could be said that by fighting other digimon, they acquire 'data', which helps digimon digivolve. However, Digimon with human companions not only need energy and data, but also energy from their human companion, as well as love or friendship from them. Digimon with human partners may digivolve at times if their human is in grave danger.

Listed below are the levels all digimon go through.
**Egg- At this stage, the digimon is only in an egg and waiting to hatch. The eggs are thought to be indestructible, but no one is for sure. When enough energy is obtained by these eggs, they hatch into baby digimon. This transformation can take anywhere from 24 hours to many years.

**Fresh/Baby- This is the stage just outside of the egg. These digimon typically are the size of basketballs and tend to look similar to fuzzy animals (though not necessarily like the animals we are accustom to seeing). These digimon have basic attacks that are used based on instincts. These attacks are small compared to what other levels can do. They mainly stun or blind an enemy so that the baby may make a quick escape or hide from an enemy.

**In-Training-This state is exactly what the name implies, a training stage. At this level, a digimon is typically the size of a cat or a medium sized dog but their appearance varies widely based on what type they are. At this stage, their attacks are quite stronger than the attacks from the baby stage, but still considered weak. With certain digimon, at this level they become pranksters and trouble makers. Just like with humans, this is sometimes simply a phase.

**Rookie- These digimon vary in size and shape. They can appear humanoid or completely alien and unlike anything you have ever seen. The size can be small as a kitten to as large as a bear. Their powers are stronger than they were however, they are not completely in control of their abilities.

**Champion- Digimon of this level are the most common to see around the digital world. When a digimon first digivolves into this stage, it is not uncommon for him to lose control and seem to be a completely different person (....well Digimon...). However if this happens, they often revert back and do not remember the damage they very likely caused. When a digimon (who is experienced in digivolving) digivolves into a higher level then de-digivolves, it will revert to this stage (unless it has used too much energy or has been defeated to the point of our death, a point where they revert back into the egg stage).

**Ultimate- This is the second most common stage of digimon found in the digital world. These digimon are at almost the highest level and should be considered dangerous if not a partner to a human. These digimon have the power to potentially destroy city blocks if provoked.

**Mega-The highest level of digivolution. Digimon of this level found out in the wild are often elders or feared for their power. Generally speaking, most digimon of this level have more of a humanoid form than any other level.

There will be a total of four people (aging from 17-21) who will be taken to the Digital World to face the dangers there.
(Ages are Negotiable but I would like to keep people around these ages).

Slowly, the camp started to fill as people began to arrive on the first day. Many gathered before the councillor who gazed at his list and broke the crowd into smaller groups. One by one, the four were called out to be sent to camp 8, where they were to gather and get to know one another.

Before the four would get the chance, there was a freak snow storm, a complete change from the sunny weather that had been constant throughout the day. Bright lights stretched across the sky, similar to the northern lights. From the sky, lights beamed down to the four, right before they were suddenly sucked into a large portal in the sky....

This is where their adventure begins....

"What an odd dream... I hope thats not how camp turns out! The group I was thrown in seemed like someone I would fight with or antisocial. I know I'm not a social bug myself but shit...."

Slowly, Ryoko forced her eyes open. To her surprise she did not see the cream ceiling she was accustomed to waking up to. Instead, her eyes stared at a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds. "What the-" She gasped rather loudly before noticing she was laying in grass. It was soft against her skin and was rather pleasant, except for the fact she knew she should not be laying in it. Quickly, she sat up and scanned her surroundings. She was surrounded by large trees, lush plants that looked well taken care of, and odd flowers she had never seen before. 'How the Hell did I end up in a forest?' she wondered while slowly getting to her feet. She felt slightly dizzy, so the simple task took longer than normal as she tried to make sure she didn't move too fast in fear she might fall down if she did.
Beside where she had been laying was her messenger bag, which she snatched up as quickly as possibly. It as heavy like normal. After scanning the inside of it rather quickly, she was relieved to see nothing was missing and her computer was still in there. 'Maybe this is some kind of weird camp prank or something...' she told herself while looking around some more. However, the more she gazed around, the more uneasy she became. Nothing in her surroundings seemed familiar. Everything seemed too green and the air smelled like a flower shop! There were no signs of litter anywhere, which you could find anywhere you went normally. Even the horrible odor that lingered when cars gathered in one place was missing, which was a smell that had filled the air at the camp when she and everyone else was arriving.

"Your awake!" A cheerful voice screeched from behind her, making Ryoko nearly jump out of her skin. She twirled around with both first up in the air, ready to fight. However, she was nothing but the trees and plants that had been there before. "Down here!" The voice added in a small giggle. Ryoko slowly let her eyes travel down to the ground like they do in the horror movies before something jumps out at them. Before her eyes even reached the ground, they caught sight of a small green thing with large eyes bouncing up and down. "Woa!!" She gasped while stumbling backwards. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before, other than possibly on tv!

The creature was about the size of a basketball and almost the same shape, as it only had a body, tail, and a pair of ears that looked similar to a cats. Green-ish fur covered its body and large amber colored eyes stared at her. Its mouth was gaping open like a child who just received all the presents it wanted for Christmas, however sharp fangs could be seen inside its mouth. There was also a long tail attached to the back of its body, with purple stripes at the end. It spoke perfect English, which was another thing that astonished her. “What are you?” She asked almost bewildered by the creature. Her curiosity moved her to a squatting position so she could look at the creature closer. Without thought, she softly set her bag on the ground next to her.
“I'm Nyaromon!!” It replied in a chipper voice, still bouncing. “You look like something out of a video game...” Ryoko mumbled while watching it. “I'm not a something, I'm a digimon and I'm your friend!” Nyaromon corrected with a smile, now sitting still. “I have been waiting for you for a long time Ryoko.”

Her eyes widened in shock as she gazed at the Nyaromon. “How do you know my name?” She asked, now a bit worried. Nyaromon rolled its eyes before giggling. “I know a lot about you Ryoko! I have been waiting my whole life for you!” For a moment, Ryoko wasn't sure what to say, that is, until her smart-ass side kicked in. “Shit, I guess I really do spend too much time online. And I know they say anyone can see what you put on the Internet, but this is a bit much...” With a sigh, she stood back up, holding the strap to her messenger bag in her hand. The gears started turning in her mind and she gave a small chuckled. “I've done this before..” She started shaking her head at the fact she hadn't thought of it sooner. “Its just a dream inside of a dream. All I have to do is wait till I wake up. Then everything will be normal again.” Though the thought was reassuring and quite possible, Nyaromon shook its body (since it had no defined head). “Its not a dream Ryoko, this is all real!” Nyaromon protested, a little upset that Ryoko didn't believe her.

After pulling the strap up to her shoulder, Ryoko noticed a small hexagon shaped device attacked to the end of the strap, which hadn't been there before. She pulled it off gently before examining it. “Whats this?” She wondered out loud. The screen in the center of the device made her think of a virtual pet game her mother had once bought her. “That’s a digivice!” Nyaromon informed her, again bouncing with joy. “Digi-....” Ryoko repeated before realizing that digi usually meant digital. “Yup, that confirms it, I have been spending wayyyy too much time in front of the computer!!” She told herself while shaking her head. The small digimon gave a confused and somewhat hurt look. “Ryoko, its not a dream... We have been waiting for you guys for a long time!!”
Ryoko nearly glared at the small creature. “You guys?” Nyaromon nodded, as much as the small thing could. “What do you mean, you guys?” Ryoko asked again in a low tone. “What others?” For a moment, the small digimon was puzzled as if it didn't understand why she would ask such a question. “Songrose, Ivan, and the other guy...” Nyaromon replied slowly.
Ryoko face-palmed lightly before sighing. Even if it was a dream, she didn't feel like being stuck somewhere with any of them. Of course, she didn't know any of them personally, but from her first impression when meeting them, she wasn't thrilled.

“Come on! Come on! We have to make sure the others are up!” Nyaromon called after hopping a little bit away from where Ryoko stood. After putting the 'digivice' in her pocket, Ryoko gave another small sigh. “Come on Ryoko!!” The creature urged again, still hopping off in the direction it thought everyone else would be in. After hanging her head for a moment, Ryoko followed the odd creature.

Oh my God, my head hurts... Ichisake thought to himself as he laid in bed. What a freaking bizarre dream... He reached up to rub his eyes, yawning. He felt for his bag, which was always next to him, and grabbed his cell phone out of it. As he opened one eye, he noticed it wasn't a cell phone...nor was he laying on a bed. Ichisake shot up, looking around. Where am I!? He thought frantically as he clutched his bag to his chest. It was light, lacking his laptop, but his pad of paper and pens were still in it. Green for when he was happy, red for when he was angry, and blue for when he was in a neutral mood. Most of the writings were in blue, as he wasn't one for extreme anger or extreme happiness. He was, however, calmed by the fact that these things were still with him.

While Ichisake stood up, making sure his legs were solid beneath him, he looked around. The item in his hand was strange, not a cell phone, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. It looked like something out of a video game, almost. As Ichisake looked around, he took a step forward.

"Hey! Watch where you're going, Ichisake!" he heard a voice from the ground around his feet. His eyes went to the ground, and he jumped back. "That's much better! Jeeze, you almost stepped on me!" the little blue, gray and black, floating blob said. Ichisake reached for his bag, fumbling for his note pad and a
black pen, the color he used for when he was confused or didn't know what mood he was in. "What are you looking for, Ichisake?" The little blob asked.

When he couldn't find his pen, he took a breath and asked in his low, bass voice, "What...erm...who are you? How do you know my name?" The little blob laughed. "I'm Yuramon! I'm your friend, and I'm here to help you!" Yuramon told him. Ichisake looked confused, but just shrugged. "Okay then, Yuramon, if you say so. I really have no reason not to believe you..." He said with a small smile.

Yuramon looked excited and bounced a little. "Yes! This is exciting! Let us go see if the others are awake," The little blob said as it bounced away. Ichiskae gathered his things quickly and followed, calling "wait up!" before hurrying after Yuramon.

Songrose stretched and rolled over, hoping to get back to sleep. That proved to be impossible, however, and so she sighed. Arriving at the camp, being assigned their camp, meeting the others of the group...and then the sudden snow and lights and portal...she wanted to see how the dream ended. The portal couldn't kill her; it had to have transported them somewhere, and she wanted to know! She sat up, rubbing sleep from her eyes, and looked around. Then she blinked.

This wasn't her bedroom. This wasn't any place she knew. It was much too clean, much too clear, much too natural to be any place she remembered. Where was she?

"You're finally awake?" she heard. Songrose searched around for the source, and finally found it. It was a little red blob with three horns. This was really odd. This had to be a dream, she guessed. So she could do whatever she wanted...right? She picked the blob up, examining it curiously.

"Who are you? What are you?" The thing blinked at her before giving and answer.

"I'm Punimon, a digimon!" Then it started squirming and trrying to jump. "Come on; let's go! We have to join the others, Songrose!" Songrose blinked, but released the digimon and reached out to grab her sketchbook, fortunately nearby. Her pen was still safely tucked into the spiral. She checked for her cell phone, but was briefly distracted. What was that? Attached to her belt loop? She shrugged it off and stood up as soon as she found her cell phone. No signal; figured. She put it away. It certainly did her no good.

She watched Punimon jumping around before stooping to pick it up. "You tell me where to go; I'll walk and carry you." That seemed like more fun. Besides, it was a cute little blob; she so very much wanted to carry it around like a tiny puppy. "If you don't mind, Punimon." Punimon tilted its head in one direction. "That way. Let's go!" It certainly seemed excited. Songrose was pleased, too. Not only did she get to carry this tiny, cute little creature, but it was looking like she was finishing that dream! This could be fun! Now she just had to meet the others Punimon had mentioned.

She followed in the direction Punimom had pointed, perhaps a little overly excited.

Something was wrong here. Notably the sense of openness, also the breeze brushing across his skin. He shivered in shock and sat up suddenly. He let out a sharp hiss and his hand shot to his head as he hunched forward. The sudden dizziness turned to painful rush of blood to the brain. If he had tried to stand up at this point he probably would've keeled over and returned to the ground rather violently. Slowly the white flashes behind his eyes receded and Ivan shook his head out. Finally he managed to grasp the weirdness that welcomed him. The feel of the the breeze brushed across his cheeks, filling his nostrils with the scent of the wild. It made sense, he looked around and there was not a single sign of the camp that he had so recently been attending. Instead there was lush grass beneath him, colourful flowers decorating it. Trees and bushes gave the area volume. No doubt about it, he had never seen this place before. He couldn't recognize the trees, or the flowers even though he hardly knew anything about them in the first place.

He tried to fathom what had happened, how he got here. He hadn't been drunk or high, he didn't touch the stuff. He'd had plenty of memory lapses before but not large ones. Nothing that would cover him actually travelling to this random spot and falling asleep. He reached up and checked. He felt the glasses still perched upon his head and he was still soundly clothed in his jacket. He finally manage to round out what he remembered: attempting to spend time with his new camp group. It hadn't particularly been a great experience for him. The sudden snow storm ruined everything. A blizzard he could only assume, that tended to be the explanation of sudden snow storms. Of course there wasn't a cloud in the sky before hand and he very vividly remember the lights. He had assumed that they were merely the sky, however odd that could be. Of course that was the until he felt the pull. Almost like being dragged into the lights. He had always been skeptical about the existence of a lot of things. Not disbelieving, merely skeptical. In this case the thought of an actual alien abduction was foremost on his mind.

He moved to stand up and only then, as he looked down to where he was going to brace himself he noticed the small creature next to him. It was about the size of a sports ball and a light teal colour. A small 'tail' extended from the top of its head. Ivan paused, he hadn't seen or heard of something like this. It was clearly a creature of some sort. The tail twitch and the ball inflated and deflated slightly as the breath wheezed from it. It was very clearly sleeping, whatever it was. Ivan looked around curiously. It was only him and this thing. Obviously it was reasonably tame since it was sleeping so close to him. He didn't have any idea of what he should do now. He settled for tenderly reaching towards the ball and gently rubbing his hand across the top of it. It stirred slightly, it's black orbs flicked open. Ivan smiled as the small animal seemed like a cat when woken. He liked cats.

"Hey! You're awake finally."

Immediately Ivan's hand froze as he looked down at the blu-ish creature. He was completely shocked, he had assumed that whatever it was, it was an animal. He now had to dispose of that assumption, that fact it spoke suggested otherwise. All he said was:
It seemed that the strange creature looked at him somewhere between annoyance, curiosity and happiness.

"Ivan. Why did you stop? I liked that."

"Uh. I'm sorry, you know me but I don't think we've been introduced." Slightly flustered the young man just attempted to deal with it as normally as he could. He did resume his petting and the creature's tail shivered.

"Oh. I'm Chibomon. I'm a digimon. You're a human. I'm you're friend."

"Uh huh..." Ivan responded, just nodding. He could feel a slightly rumbling in the creature as it pressed further into his hand. Chibomon seemed a lot light a child or a animal then he would think.

"Okay Ivan. Time to go find your friends. Can you carry me?" At first Sydney wasn't quite sure what the little digiminon was talking around. Then he remembered the other three that had been with him when the blizzard cropped up. He hoped that they were also dragged through the light to here. The sudden snow storm seemed dangerous to anyone caught out in it so long. You could say those three seemed to be the closest he had to friends right now. Perhaps he could add Chibomon to that group. He gently picked up the friendly creature and stood.

"That way." The little digimon said, the single blue appendage indicating whatever seemed to be a random direction. Without much disagreement Ivan wandered back in the direction. There wasn't much else to do other than listen to the blue ball. Syndey's hand casually checked his trouser pockets, confirming that he still had all his belongings.

As the four campers followed the direction of their digimon, they all came to the same spot, where the digimon had planned for the meeting. Each digimon smiled and welcomed their friends and admired their new partners. The spot was a small clearing, but still very similar to the rest of the forest that the campers had been walking through.

Ryoko walked through the odd forest following Nyaromon. She was amazed at how fast the small ball could hop as she had expected to have to carry the small creature. She also admired the forest scenery as she followed the small cat-like digimon. It reminded her of something out of a video game or sci-fi movie with its bright and vibrant colors and with how everything seemed so alive. It truly was amazing to her, which helped comfort her that the dream would be a nice one.

"Here we are!" Nyaromon chirped as they entered a small clearing. It wasn't long before Ryoko could hear rustling around them and people talking, which let her know the others were close.
She watched as everyone emerged from different directions and her new monster friend bounced off to greet its friends. She wondered how long they had known each other and if it would be odd for them since their human companions didn't know each other very well. Though she wanted to keep her badass persona, even here, she decided to let it go for a little bit and try to be friendly towards the others. She forced a smile, which probably looked rather awkward to the others, then she waved. She had never been very social and she wasn't even sure how to be at this point, but at least it was some sort of effort.

"I see everyone else has a..." she paused before saying the word monster as she had learned they were digimon. She continued with this word instead. "-digimon also." For a moment, she tried to think of something else to say, however she decided to let someone else be the social bug and hopefully they would be better at it than she was.

"It's here, see?" Punimon said, happily. Songrose looked around as she entered the clearing, still holding the Punimon. She gave everyone a big smile as she looked around again. This wasn't exactly how it was supposed to happen, but it looked like she was going to make some new friends, anyway. Well, aside from Punimon; he had made it clear already that they were going to be good friends, so she wasn't too worried about that.

"Yes; it does look like we all have a digimon. And they're so cute, too," she added, squeezing her own Punimon lightly in a hug. She paused and looked around again, brightly. There were four of them...and they were all the same people she was supposed to be getting to know, anyway. So, even if they weren't at the camp, the end result couldn't be too different. They just had these digimon to be friends with, too. That should make things much better; it certainly meant there was more to take care of, though. She tilted her head to one side curiously.

"I guess...since we're all stuck here, we should try to get along." She paused, glancing around. While she kept a bright and happy appearance, she was very confused. She glanced at the trees, and then back to Punimon before looking to the others that had been transported there.

"Umm...does anyone have an idea of...why we're here? I mean...why that portal was even there in the first place?" She hadn't asked Punimon because she wasn't sure she should; what if he didn't know? And, if this was a dream, because she still wasn't entirely convinced it was all real, he might still tell her something she didn't expect. Besides, maybe someone else had a better idea than she could ever come up with.

"No one's here." Ivan stated matter-of-factly. Looking around the clearing. It looked very much like the brightly coloured rest of the forest. He couldn't really tell any difference and probably would've been completely lost if it wasn't for Chibomon pointing him. Of course he couldn't be sure if the digimon was actually directing him or pointing him in random directions. It had yammered on, asking him questions about who he was. Ivan gave the basic answers and didn't really ask any questions. Chibomon was being just a little too friendly for someone he just met.

"Just wait Ivan, they'll show up." Chibomon said with unerring optimism. Then stopped bouncing and shifting excitedly in the human's arms.

"Oh what?" Ivan frowned as he looked down at the cyan ball in his arm, Chibomon looked up, blinking his beady eyes attempting to look innocent. Ivan just sighed and waited for the answer.

"Well, I think we're in the wrong place." Ivan sighed with a little annoyance, he hardly let people get to him, but Chibomon instantly got beneath his skin. The usually reserved Ivan wasn't so reserved around the digimon, he didn't know if it was a good thing or not. Specially since the creature claimed they would be friends.

"Would you bounce if I dropped you?" The young man said out of annoyance. The digimon didn't quite catch the threat in what he said and admitted that indeed he would bounce. At which Ivan promptly dropped him. Chibomon did bounce a little and rolled over on to it's 'stomach' again, or what ever was the equivalent with the spherical creature.

"Why did you do that?"

"Look, you gave me wrong directions so I'm not carrying you. Just go ahead if you want. Can you?"

Chibomon looked a little disappointed at that but quite proudly proclaimed that he could and promptly bounced off into the undergrowth. Ivan followed, slipping his hand into his pockets. And pushing his way through the low and colourful bushes. He was glad that it wasn't someplace wetter, or he'd have to worry about leeches. Then again did they even have leeches where ever he was? Or was there something worse. He shrugged that thought off. He'd hoped not but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.

Up ahead he heard Chibomon's squeal of joy and entered the other area. He saw the two girls from his camping trip and another pair of the ball things. Obviously they were recovered and brought here by one each. Ivan simply lend on a tree at the edge and watched the other's before he got involved. He looked from person, Songrose seemed genuinely cheerful while Ryoko seemed to be faking it. To be honest he couldn't assume about either of them either way.

"Considering these little guys dragged us here I'm certain they know something or have some reason." Ivan added as he drew something out of his pocket. A strange sort of locket of sorts. He hadn't seen it before, yet another mystery. That one would have to wait and he stuffed back into his pocket.
