Ryoko Ai Watanabe

Nickname:n/a
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race/Ethnicity: Half Japanese/ Half American
Orientation: Straight
Personality:Ryoko has a very strong personality. She tries to give off the persona that she is the biggest and baddest kid on the block, and honestly, she isn't as weak as most people think she is. This personality trait often tends to make people shy away from her but in her mind, it lets her know who is worth keeping around and who isn't. She is often outspoken and sometimes even rather rude to people at first. This is due to the fear of getting hurt by people. She knows she trusts people too much once she befriends them, even if she knows she shouldn't, which is why she tries to block everyone out. It is a sort of defence because of her own security problems. However, once she befriends someone, she gives them her trust and will defend them until she is dead (or unconscious). Ryoko has a bit of a problem with mood swings, however it is less of a medical condition as it is a mental issue that she herself has caused. When she is out with friends, she can be happy and friendly one minute, but at the sight of someone who looks like a threat, her mood changes completely and her guard goes up, causing her to snap very easily. Ryoko's parents have caused her to be rebellious against almost anything that asks her to conform. She is often in trouble at school and many label her as a 'problematic child'. Some think she acts up and smarts off so much for attention, however even she isn't sure why she does it.
Despite all this, Ryoko does have a softer side, though it is rare for anyone to see it. She has times when she breaks and times when she crumbles. These are very rare times, however if someone whom she trusts is around, she will spill her soul out to them.
Skin Tone:very pale
Height:5'5
Build:Skinny but obviously has a larger bone structure
Physical Description: Ryoko is a short girl with a larger bone structure, making her look a little over weight. However, if one was to look at her stomach, it would be obvious she is not over weight. She has a face similar to a child's, where it has a slight pudge to it. Her hair is a purple color at this moment, layered, and falls down to the nape of her neck in the back. Her bangs are long and often are in her face, falling just past her jaw. When her hair is not covering both eyes, one could see she has blue eyes that change shades.
Ryoko wears a little bit of everything, but she is normally clad in a tight fitting shirt that shows off her large bust and almost baggy cargo pants. The pants are long and flow over her feet and drag the ground, just the way she likes them.
Occupation: Student
Hobbies: Writing, drawing, walking around, listening to music, hanging out in cafes

Goals in Life/Dreams:Ryoko has a few aspirations, though no real plan for her life. She aspires to someday work on video games (the art aspect or possibly writing) or she would like to be a programmer for computers and write computer programs.
Fears:Having no one, being trapped underground, pyres
History: Ryoko was born into a middle class family in America. Her father was Japanese and had only been in America for a year when he met Ryoko's mother, who was American. It wasn't long before they fell in love and conceived Ryoko. Being so in love, the couple agreed to give the child a Japanese name, even though she was half American. Two months after Ryoko was born, the two got married.
Even as a child, she was very independent and didn't really like to get help from others, however, she was a sweet and loving child. She often tried to help others and was always praised for being such a polite child. Her love of computers started at a young age as her grandmother gave her own when she was only 6 years old. Her parents were fascinated at how proficient she was with them. This sparked a lifelong love of technology and eagerness to learn more about electronics. It wasn't long before she started looking up ways to enhance her skills from that of the average computer user, to those closer to a computer expert.
Two months after her 10th birthday, her parents got a divorce. Being a child, she didn't understand what was going on and when her mother remarried only a few months later, it devastated her. Her father moved several states away and she was never allowed to visit him because he lived so far away. Her mother tried to explain things as much as one can to a ten year old, but Ryoko would not listen to anything she said. In Ryoko's mind, all the blame was placed on her mother, since she had already replaced her father. To escape the pain of losing her father and having him replaced, she locked herself in her room and became obsessed with video games, where she could be someone else. She loved being in other lands and being someone else, as it kept her mind off of everything that was going on in her life.
Her stepfather was a surgeon at the local hospital and convinced her mother to become a nurse, as it would help the household. After four months, they were able to move from their two bedroom apartment into a three bedroom house. Ryoko was less than thrilled. She had fallen in love with the 'dirty' side of town she had grown up in. However, the move did not stop her from taking her 'trips' that she adored. Most of her days were spent walking around, sitting and drawing under bridges, or just chilling in one of the cyber cafe's she had found near their old apartments. It is here that she is social the most as one of the main guys who works there is her friend...best friend. She often spends her days there, writing in her journal or drawing random people that come through. When Casey is working, she sits at the bar area and will talk with him until his shift is over.
In school, she is the problem child. She cuts up and is a smart ass. If she makes it through the day with only two office visits, it surprises everyone. She has a few people she talks to on occasions, but for the most part, she is a loner.
To help her be more social, her parents decided to send her to a camp. This is where the story begins.

Slowly, the camp started to fill as people began to arrive on the first day. Many gathered before the councillor who gazed at his list and broke the crowd into smaller groups. One by one, the four were called out to be sent to camp 8, where they were to gather and get to know one another.

Before the four would get the chance, there was a freak snow storm, a complete change from the sunny weather that had been constant throughout the day. Bright lights stretched across the sky, similar to the northern lights. From the sky, lights beamed down to the four, right before they were suddenly sucked into a large portal in the sky....

This is where their adventure begins....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What an odd dream... I hope thats not how camp turns out! The group I was thrown in seemed like someone I would fight with or antisocial. I know I'm not a social bug myself but shit...."

Slowly, Ryoko forced her eyes open. To her surprise she did not see the cream ceiling she was accustomed to waking up to. Instead, her eyes stared at a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds. "What the-" She gasped rather loudly before noticing she was laying in grass. It was soft against her skin and was rather pleasant, except for the fact she knew she should not be laying in it. Quickly, she sat up and scanned her surroundings. She was surrounded by large trees, lush plants that looked well taken care of, and odd flowers she had never seen before. 'How the Hell did I end up in a forest?' she wondered while slowly getting to her feet. She felt slightly dizzy, so the simple task took longer than normal as she tried to make sure she didn't move too fast in fear she might fall down if she did.
Beside where she had been laying was her messenger bag, which she snatched up as quickly as possibly. It as heavy like normal. After scanning the inside of it rather quickly, she was relieved to see nothing was missing and her computer was still in there. 'Maybe this is some kind of weird camp prank or something...' she told herself while looking around some more. However, the more she gazed around, the more uneasy she became. Nothing in her surroundings seemed familiar. Everything seemed too green and the air smelled like a flower shop! There were no signs of litter anywhere, which you could find anywhere you went normally. Even the horrible odor that lingered when cars gathered in one place was missing, which was a smell that had filled the air at the camp when she and everyone else was arriving.

"Your awake!" A cheerful voice screeched from behind her, making Ryoko nearly jump out of her skin. She twirled around with both first up in the air, ready to fight. However, she was nothing but the trees and plants that had been there before. "Down here!" The voice added in a small giggle. Ryoko slowly let her eyes travel down to the ground like they do in the horror movies before something jumps out at them. Before her eyes even reached the ground, they caught sight of a small green thing with large eyes bouncing up and down. "Woa!!" She gasped while stumbling backwards. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before, other than possibly on tv!

The creature was about the size of a basketball and almost the same shape, as it only had a body, tail, and a pair of ears that looked similar to a cats. Green-ish fur covered its body and large amber colored eyes stared at her. Its mouth was gaping open like a child who just received all the presents it wanted for Christmas, however sharp fangs could be seen inside its mouth. There was also a long tail attached to the back of its body, with purple stripes at the end. It spoke perfect English, which was another thing that astonished her. “What are you?” She asked almost bewildered by the creature. Her curiosity moved her to a squatting position so she could look at the creature closer. Without thought, she softly set her bag on the ground next to her.
“I'm Nyaromon!!” It replied in a chipper voice, still bouncing. “You look like something out of a video game...” Ryoko mumbled while watching it. “I'm not a something, I'm a digimon and I'm your friend!” Nyaromon corrected with a smile, now sitting still. “I have been waiting for you for a long time Ryoko.”

Her eyes widened in shock as she gazed at the Nyaromon. “How do you know my name?” She asked, now a bit worried. Nyaromon rolled its eyes before giggling. “I know a lot about you Ryoko! I have been waiting my whole life for you!” For a moment, Ryoko wasn't sure what to say, that is, until her smart-ass side kicked in. “Shit, I guess I really do spend too much time online. And I know they say anyone can see what you put on the Internet, but this is a bit much...” With a sigh, she stood back up, holding the strap to her messenger bag in her hand. The gears started turning in her mind and she gave a small chuckled. “I've done this before..” She started shaking her head at the fact she hadn't thought of it sooner. “Its just a dream inside of a dream. All I have to do is wait till I wake up. Then everything will be normal again.” Though the thought was reassuring and quite possible, Nyaromon shook its body (since it had no defined head). “Its not a dream Ryoko, this is all real!” Nyaromon protested, a little upset that Ryoko didn't believe her.

After pulling the strap up to her shoulder, Ryoko noticed a small hexagon shaped device attacked to the end of the strap, which hadn't been there before. She pulled it off gently before examining it. “Whats this?” She wondered out loud. The screen in the center of the device made her think of a virtual pet game her mother had once bought her. “That’s a digivice!” Nyaromon informed her, again bouncing with joy. “Digi-....” Ryoko repeated before realizing that digi usually meant digital. “Yup, that confirms it, I have been spending wayyyy too much time in front of the computer!!” She told herself while shaking her head. The small digimon gave a confused and somewhat hurt look. “Ryoko, its not a dream... We have been waiting for you guys for a long time!!”
Ryoko nearly glared at the small creature. “You guys?” Nyaromon nodded, as much as the small thing could. “What do you mean, you guys?” Ryoko asked again in a low tone. “What others?” For a moment, the small digimon was puzzled as if it didn't understand why she would ask such a question. “Songrose, Ivan, and the other guy...” Nyaromon replied slowly.
Ryoko face-palmed lightly before sighing. Even if it was a dream, she didn't feel like being stuck somewhere with any of them. Of course, she didn't know any of them personally, but from her first impression when meeting them, she wasn't thrilled.

“Come on! Come on! We have to make sure the others are up!” Nyaromon called after hopping a little bit away from where Ryoko stood. After putting the 'digivice' in her pocket, Ryoko gave another small sigh. “Come on Ryoko!!” The creature urged again, still hopping off in the direction it thought everyone else would be in. After hanging her head for a moment, Ryoko followed the odd creature.

As the four campers followed the direction of their digimon, they all came to the same spot, where the digimon had planned for the meeting. Each digimon smiled and welcomed their friends and admired their new partners. The spot was a small clearing, but still very similar to the rest of the forest that the campers had been walking through.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryoko walked through the odd forest following Nyaromon. She was amazed at how fast the small ball could hop as she had expected to have to carry the small creature. She also admired the forest scenery as she followed the small cat-like digimon. It reminded her of something out of a video game or sci-fi movie with its bright and vibrant colors and with how everything seemed so alive. It truly was amazing to her, which helped comfort her that the dream would be a nice one.

"Here we are!" Nyaromon chirped as they entered a small clearing. It wasn't long before Ryoko could hear rustling around them and people talking, which let her know the others were close.
She watched as everyone emerged from different directions and her new monster friend bounced off to greet its friends. She wondered how long they had known each other and if it would be odd for them since their human companions didn't know each other very well. Though she wanted to keep her badass persona, even here, she decided to let it go for a little bit and try to be friendly towards the others. She forced a smile, which probably looked rather awkward to the others, then she waved. She had never been very social and she wasn't even sure how to be at this point, but at least it was some sort of effort.

"I see everyone else has a..." she paused before saying the word monster as she had learned they were digimon. She continued with this word instead. "-digimon also." For a moment, she tried to think of something else to say, however she decided to let someone else be the social bug and hopefully they would be better at it than she was.

"It's here, see?" Punimon said, happily. Songrose looked around as she entered the clearing, still holding the Punimon. She gave everyone a big smile as she looked around again. This wasn't exactly how it was supposed to happen, but it looked like she was going to make some new friends, anyway. Well, aside from Punimon; he had made it clear already that they were going to be good friends, so she wasn't too worried about that.

"Yes; it does look like we all have a digimon. And they're so cute, too," she added, squeezing her own Punimon lightly in a hug. She paused and looked around again, brightly. There were four of them...and they were all the same people she was supposed to be getting to know, anyway. So, even if they weren't at the camp, the end result couldn't be too different. They just had these digimon to be friends with, too. That should make things much better; it certainly meant there was more to take care of, though. She tilted her head to one side curiously.

"I guess...since we're all stuck here, we should try to get along." She paused, glancing around. While she kept a bright and happy appearance, she was very confused. She glanced at the trees, and then back to Punimon before looking to the others that had been transported there.

"Umm...does anyone have an idea of...why we're here? I mean...why that portal was even there in the first place?" She hadn't asked Punimon because she wasn't sure she should; what if he didn't know? And, if this was a dream, because she still wasn't entirely convinced it was all real, he might still tell her something she didn't expect. Besides, maybe someone else had a better idea than she could ever come up with.

"No one's here." Ivan stated matter-of-factly. Looking around the clearing. It looked very much like the brightly coloured rest of the forest. He couldn't really tell any difference and probably would've been completely lost if it wasn't for Chibomon pointing him. Of course he couldn't be sure if the digimon was actually directing him or pointing him in random directions. It had yammered on, asking him questions about who he was. Ivan gave the basic answers and didn't really ask any questions. Chibomon was being just a little too friendly for someone he just met.

"Just wait Ivan, they'll show up." Chibomon said with unerring optimism. Then stopped bouncing and shifting excitedly in the human's arms.

"Oh."

"Oh what?" Ivan frowned as he looked down at the cyan ball in his arm, Chibomon looked up, blinking his beady eyes attempting to look innocent. Ivan just sighed and waited for the answer.

"Well, I think we're in the wrong place." Ivan sighed with a little annoyance, he hardly let people get to him, but Chibomon instantly got beneath his skin. The usually reserved Ivan wasn't so reserved around the digimon, he didn't know if it was a good thing or not. Specially since the creature claimed they would be friends.

"Would you bounce if I dropped you?" The young man said out of annoyance. The digimon didn't quite catch the threat in what he said and admitted that indeed he would bounce. At which Ivan promptly dropped him. Chibomon did bounce a little and rolled over on to it's 'stomach' again, or what ever was the equivalent with the spherical creature.

"Why did you do that?"

"Look, you gave me wrong directions so I'm not carrying you. Just go ahead if you want. Can you?"

Chibomon looked a little disappointed at that but quite proudly proclaimed that he could and promptly bounced off into the undergrowth. Ivan followed, slipping his hand into his pockets. And pushing his way through the low and colourful bushes. He was glad that it wasn't someplace wetter, or he'd have to worry about leeches. Then again did they even have leeches where ever he was? Or was there something worse. He shrugged that thought off. He'd hoped not but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.

Up ahead he heard Chibomon's squeal of joy and entered the other area. He saw the two girls from his camping trip and another pair of the ball things. Obviously they were recovered and brought here by one each. Ivan simply lend on a tree at the edge and watched the other's before he got involved. He looked from person, Songrose seemed genuinely cheerful while Ryoko seemed to be faking it. To be honest he couldn't assume about either of them either way.

"Considering these little guys dragged us here I'm certain they know something or have some reason." Ivan added as he drew something out of his pocket. A strange sort of locket of sorts. He hadn't seen it before, yet another mystery. That one would have to wait and he stuffed back into his pocket.
