In Europe, the royal families of the countries are responsible to produce the heirs to one day rule their kingdom. The Eldest, in most countries only boys, would achieve the position of King or Queen when they came of age. The King and Queen often choose someone for their child to marry. The King and Queen not only marry their heir to another high-ranked person, but often marry their other children as well to give them more power or help the bonds between the two countries.

Royal families are often filled with strife. Youngest children who want to become Queen or King are angered at their older siblings. Some Eldest fear their positions. Many times the betrothed children are angry at their parents decision and do not wish to marry their betrothed. Some times they find their betrothed to be quite handsome and friendly and are happily married. Other times, though, the two dislike each other and have no choice but to grin and bear it for the good of their countries. Worst of all, the betrothed are expected to marry and produce heirs...

In 1543, royals arrive at a large, late-night ball. The next morning, many are to be wed to their betrothed and officially announced as the Kingdoms heirs. Is one night enough to reveal their feelings to the ones they love and dislike and try and change their destinies their birth order and parents laid out for them?

THE CHARACTERS:

England:

Queen Jane (Age 47)- Queen Jane was married to the previous King, King James XII, but he died after she only had two children. As England allows, she is currently Queen but must give her son the position we he is eighteen. (NPC)

Prince Nicholas (Age 22)- Prince Nicholas is fierce and determined to be a great King. He is betrothed to Princess Luisa, who he despises. His father was killed by the Spanish in a battle, and the marriage is an attempt to bond the two countries though he hates the Spanish thoroughly. (RESERVED)

Princess Agnes (Age 19)- All she dreamed about was being queen, but she cannot-as her brother is eldest- she will remain fiercely by his side. She is currently married to a French Lord Aarón, but she hates him and instead seeks a different partner. (OPEN)


France:

King Devereux II (Age: 55)- King Devereux is hard working and sometimes a bit reckless when it comes to his kingdom. (NCP)

Queen Elaine (Age: 49)- Elaine is very loving of her husband, though she disagrees with him on many things. (NPC)

Princess Élise (Age: 25)- Élise is the eldest of the French royal family, but unable to become Queen as the traditions in France go. She is enraged at the unfairness to women and believes she is the rightful ruler of her kingdom. Léopold has always been cruel to her, and she would wish him dead if possible, though she couldn't do it herself. She is betrothed to Lord Roy of Scotland whom she actually feels great affection for; and hopes to plot with him against her brother. (OPEN)

Prince Léopold (Age: 24)- Prince Léopold can be a bit rude and unruly. Occasionally he can be offensive, but he has a nice side that many people just can't see. He is currently unbetrothed as his parents can't seem to find a match for him. (OPEN)

Prince Pierre (Age: 20)- Pierre is much more soft spoken and quite than his brother. He is at some times meek and prefers words over violence. He is the kind of person who could easily be taken advantage of, and he is betrothed to Princess Saundra of Scotts. (OPEN)

Princess Diane (Age: 20)- Diane is Pierre's identical twin sister. She is a lot more loud spoken than Pierre, and much braver, too. Despite the night-and-day contrast of personality, the two twins are always together. With her bravery, she has managed to convince her father and mother to not betroth her. She has an attraction to Prince Nicholas of England. (RESERVED)

Lord Ives (Age: 20)- He is a slightly homely, yet kind man. He is the most trusted of King Devereux and a personal friend who was nominated to be betrothed to Princess Agnes of England, but lost the bidding for her heart. (OPEN)


Spain:

King Carlos VII (Age: 67)- King Carlos VII is very close to death as he is an aged old man who has spent many years on the throne. He always wanted a son, but now he only has daughters who rarely take over. (NPC)

Queen Luisina- (Age: 50): She strongly dislikes her husband, who has had many mistresses and doesn't seem to like their daughters. (NPC)

Princess Luisa (Age: 23) - Luisa is very sensitive and shy. Not as social or intelligent as many Queens will have to be, she has heard her father talking about letting her sister rule though Luisa is the oldest. This has driven a rift between her father and herself as well as Adelita and herself. She is betrothed to Nicholas, but she is horrified to find that he hates her and her country dearly. She does hold secret affections for Prince Léopold of France-many others see him as horrible and rude, but she sees him in a better way; she knows their is good in him. (Reserved by Goldenflame)

Princess Adelita (Age: 21)- Adelita is party girl who dislikes responsibility. She has heard the talk of possibly becoming queen, and she loves the idea of the power. She is unbetrothed. However, her sister strongly disagrees. Adelita believes her sister is not fit to rule. Adelita does have a fatal secret of her own; she is currently expecting the child of Prince Fáelán whom she had met a few times at banquets and balls. Revealing her pregnancy would devastate her chance at the throne. (Reserved by Dark_Rose)

Lord Aarón (Age: 28)- Aarón is a pretty wicked man. While he is wealthy, he is cruel to women but has many mistresses, is very over-bearing, and wants dominance. He is married to Princess Agnes. (OPEN)


Scotland:

King Devin (Age: 35)- King Devin is a well respected King, and is very loyal to his Queen. He treasures his family. (NPC)

Queen Christine (Age: 33)- Catherine was born rather poor, but worked her way up and eventually was chosen to marry Devin. She was in love with him from the beginning and still is. (NPC)

Prince Fáelán (Age: 18)- Fáelán is a ladies man. He is with multiple women a day and practically craves intercourse. Women are attracted to him and he often brings them to his bedchambers and haves his way with them, though some are married. He had an affair with Princess Adelita and she is currently pregnant with his child, though he does not know yet. (OPEN)

Princess Saundra (Age 16)- Saundra is very determined and craves powers. She was horrified when her mother had her betrothed to Prince Pierre as she was only sixteen and he was not a high enough royal to give her a throne. She plans on using him for power and wants to feel no affection for him, but she dreads the meeting of her fiancé, and thinks she might fall for him, making her plans harder. She will meet him for the first time at the ball. (RESERVED)

Lord Roy (Age: 37): Lord Roy is a rather dashing man. He is betrothed to Princess Élise, and legitimately cares for her. Her desire for her brothers death might be too much for him. (OPEN)
