Introduction

London, early 1800's:

Beasts and fiends have been seen walking the streets. People have been reported being possessed and mutating into unholy creatures. The dead rise and walk the streets yet again. The city panics and looks towards themselves and possibly some mercenaries to deal with these threats. People have said that, in legend, a very powerful demon who was sealed in this very city (where is currently unknown to anyone, or at least, no one wants to say...) is responsible for the events currently taking place.

Many people falsely believe they have the ability to combat these monsters, but only meet an early grave. Soon, a curfew is placed on the town, and after the sun has set completely (and when the worst of the worst come out to hunt) everyone is instructed to bolt their doors and barricade their windows. Many go insane daily, due to the snarls, barks, growls, roars and moans from outside. And even the rare scream of an unlikely victim, or foolhardy hero. These beasts intend to put you out of your misery, but not before having fun with their food first.

To those powerful enough to combat these forces, they bathe in demons blood daily. They are praised and worshiped. Many, though, get smug and too confident. This is their undoing. They believe they can delve deeper into the mystery, and die trying at the hands of whatever it may be. With no witnesses besides an old legend, no one knows what stands at the bottom of this mystery.

Zombies roam the streets. Gargoyles claim the skies. Giant spiders await their prey in alleys. Hounds from hell burn their enemies with a breath of fire. Demons claim more lives everyday, and night. All of their goals are the same: To make dying on Earth, a living hell.

The inhabitants of London wait anxiously for the hero who will raise this dark cloud from their city.

Connor tried desperately to stay awake during the long nights, leaving the day to go about other business, and sleep where he can. He groaned as he stretched outside the front door of a smithy. His arm was sore after leaning on his arm in the shop for some time, falling in and out of sleep. He walked towards a small cafe that was boarding up before the sun completely set.

Hoping that he would be able to sleep tomorrow, he sat down and leaned on the outer wall. People walked by. Some gave a slight reluctance to having to walk by him, others gave a small wave, and others just ignored his presence completely. He was still hopeful that eventually he could fix what he had done in the past. This was the only way he knew how to get rich quick. Hopefully he'd be able to live beyond getting rich.

Strutting down the street with my sword on my back, I reached a stop. Gazing up at the Unfamiliar Building I looked at the note I had in my hand.

Nottinghill Ln, 7790

Gazing up at the sign above me, 7790, And glancing back at the pole, NottingHill Lane. I was sure this was the right house.

Giving the broad door three hard knocks and stepping back I caught a glimpse of the sun.

It's gonna be Nightfall soon..

The door opened slightly, as if the Person behind the door was hesitent.

I peaked around the door. "Sir? It's Lakota." I noted.

The door opened. I scanned the mans face. Wrinkley with grey bushy eye brows and a rich colored red robe, He waved me in.
I stepped into the faintly lit room. It was empty except for a single chair and fireplace. I listened to the crackle of the wood and turned my attention back to the man.

"You have business with me..?" I asked. But I already knew he did. Almost everybody in this town did. Business is what we called it. But we all knew otherwise.

He handed me an envelope. "I want this..this thing.. dead." He rumbled. His voice was deep and hoarse.

"Consider it already done." I replied heading to the door. He grasped my arm.

"Make it pay for its Vile Sins.." He said, clearly having vengence in mind. I related to the man, I knew the feeling, and still had it, somewhere deep in my horrid mind.

I nodded and walked out of the house. The door shut behind me with a thud. Click click Click. Went the locks.

Opening the envelope, I took out a picture. It had what seemed like a zombie in a bright red vest. This one will be easy to spot.. I thought and headed up to my usual spot.

Tara was walking around the outside of the palace, her silk cloak covering her as she walked around, knowing that she would be getting a leture if she was caught outside right then, but she needed to get out of there, she didn't need to stay in there at that point, she felt like a fox trapped in a cage. Tara looked around to make sure that known of her guards had found her yet, when she noticed no one was around she quickly shifted into a black fox, leaving her cloak on the ground for the guards. She wagged her tail and start to make her way away from the palace to go and try and cause trouble for someone Those guards are horrible at keeping a eye on me, mind as well have something else watch me like a toad or something Tara thought to herself as she continued to walk the streets as if nothing was really wrong with a fox being around. Tara looked at the sky and saw the sun starting set, and smiled to herself, and started to run quicker.

Tap, tap, tap...

"Sun's setting."

Tap, tap, tap...

"We should get home soon."

Silence.

Emery paused and glanced up from his book once the familiar sound of his sister's footsteps ceased. Even if they hadn't, he would've known to shift his attention to Essery right about know. This is the part where she said...

"Should."

That pouty look of hers, her folded arms, right on cue. It seemed like they went through this exact same conversation every day, and Emery was well aware that they'd be stuck in this rut for a long, long time. As sweet and innocent as she looked, Essery wasn't a person who'd take 'no' for an answer. Sighing, Emery continued on, and his sister was at his side again in a heartbeat.

"What are you so afraid of?" Essery asked, as if she didn't know already. "We know what we're doing!"

Normally, this would be where Emery stopped in place. Today, he decided to mix it up by simply slowing down. That was about all the variety he'd be getting today.

"No, no we don't. I'm not afraid, I just have more common sense than you do. You need to stop doing this, Essery. You're going to get us killed." he explained once more. As tiresome as these repeats were getting, Emery made sure to treasure them. After all, this might be the last time he'd ever say those meaningless words.

"Yeah, right!" Essery scoffed. "We do it all the time, and nothing bad has ever happened! You're just being pessimistic again. Lighten up!"

"Nothing bad has happened yet. I think you're just being too optimistic. We aren't trained, we're easy prey. If a monster even glances at us, our deaths are near guaranteed. I know you love what you do, but is it really worth gambling your life over? Our luck might be running out, Essery. Don't get cocky."

Essery fell silent after that, but Emery knew that wasn't any indication that she was giving up. No, tonight would be another night sneaking out past curfew, another night of Emery being dragged along by Essery, another night to live in constant fear of death, another night with death miraculously avoided. Just another average day.

Hopefully.

The door to the side of him suddenly opened, and a young man's head peeked out. Connor just tilted his head upwards a bit, and looked into the sky, watching the sun battle the oncoming darkness in a losing battle.

"Y-you understand what to do right?" The man spoke, in a low, whimpering voice, as though he had been crying just moments before. Connor did nothing but nod as he stood back up, and stretched yet again. "And I want proof! I want to see for myself..." His voice trailed off, and he walked back inside and shut the door. A few bangs were heard as some nails, obviously used in previous nights, went through the door and made new holes.

"Onwards..." Connor muttered to himself. He was headed to the graveyard. Someplace he wouldn't want to be caught dead at- never mind alive. But the dangers are going to come at a good price, so it made him feel just that more encouraged to head anywhere near that place. The lower the sun sets, the worse things get...

He barely thought about it, but knew that one day, he would have to face his own "demons", instead of dealing with other people's. My family. All that happened within one night...the pain caused...all because of greed. The least he figured he could do was keep everyone else out of his "personal space"...bad for business...

While the graveyard was a very, very stupid place to go in his opinion, it might hold great treasures. It's basically grave robbing, but the graves are above ground. The only bad thing is that the graves fight back. And zombies aren't the only things that hang out there. Zombies, ghosts, imps, the usual right? Just maybe that's all that's there...

Leilana smiled at her father. "Go father, go home while its safe. I will finish up here and be home in a few hours". "Yes, while its dark!" the old man said excited, Leilana came over and hugged her father warmly. "Please father, we cannot live our lives in fear. Please go home." The old man sighed, "Its just, you are all I have left of your mother". Leilana smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "I love you father, go home, have a cup of tea, I'll be home before you know it". Her father sighed and then nodded. He quickly left the museum, he was afraid, like so many other humans, but he just wanted his daughter safe.

She finished setting up the new exhibit and turned off the lights. The new exhibit was a new discovery in Egypt. She had never had much interest in Egypt, mostly because she didn't have time to research anything else. She looked at the sandstone slab that had hieroglyphics and touched it. "If only walls could talk" she said before finally leaving the museum for the night.

She put on her coat and made her way home. She tried to stick to the main roads but she kept her eyes about making sure. She passed a police officer who nodded to her. Most well informed people of the city knew about her father, and had seen her leaving the museum late at night. Not very respectable for a lady, but then she was helping out her father who was getting older so they ignore it. Leilana hated the quiet of the night, and every sound made her tense.

I had been sitting in wait for God knows how long. I stood when I caught a glimpse of what I had been looking for.
I snorted.
God? I thought sarcasticly.
I hopped off the tree and smirked. I wonder where he had gone.

Silently making my way across the field I slid between two buildings. Slowing my breathing down, I listened.

Calls from above was all I heard. Nothing new. Gargoyles were always the ones up first.

I sniffed out the air and decided it was safe enough to go without a blade in hand. It would only slow me down.
I moved down between the buildings and came to an opening. I scanned the road.

At first glance it would seem desserted. Empty. Safe. But I knew better. Nothing was ever safe.
Knowing this, I still walked casually onto the road. Buildings on either side, Gargoyles above me, It was the worst possible scenario. Well.. Almost the worst. I gazed up at the buildings, too narrow for gargoyles to sweep down. Good.. This is good.
I let out a loud whistle and pulled out my sword. Sure enough, a Zombie in a bright red vest appeared from behind a building, Along with a couple of friends. It's blinded eyes searched wildely. I smirked.

"Oi, Over here." I tapped my sword against the ground.

The dumb ones came at me first almost immediatly.
I stepped back and swiftly decapited one, not having enough time to bring my sword back down on the other one, I kicked it in the chest. It fell to the ground with a thud. Without giving it a chance to recover, I sliced the sword through its eye and out its skull.

Then came the smart ones. Taking the time for advantage, three zombies came at me, claws first.
Dodging one of the ugly bastards, I thrusted the sword straight through the skull of another.
One made a sound that could only be classified as gargling, charged at me. I jumped back and pulled my sword out of the ones head, bringing it across the one that was charging at me, right below the ear. I watched it tumble to the ground. The last one froze, then fled into the alleyway. Smart choice.

I stared at the zombie in the Red Vest, which had been watching. Pack Leader? It didn't matter either way. I was sent to do a job, and I wasn't leaving til I finished it.

Holding the sword in one hand, I waited for it to makes its move.
The Pack Leaders were always the smartest..
It seemed to smile, showing off all its rottened and decayed teeth, along with its bleeding gums.
Something was different about this one.. & I was about to find out.

Walking along peacefully enjoying the night life his key chains jingling giving him away to every known being in London. Alex started to whistle a tune he enjoyed he felt very alive at night unlike in the day. He looked up and saw nothing so he decided to jump up. He ran to the wall and ran up it for a few seconds then he jumped off it to another wall then back to the other one in a couple of seconds he was on a roof Alex sighed and said to himself "Damn why do they make the houses so big?" he walked and saw a black shadow with red eyes staring at him. Alex waved at it "You want a snack?" the demon moved closer to him Alex took it as a yes.

Alex smiled "Well then you will have to fight it to get it." he grabbed a key chain that had a scythe with a blade on each end. Alex held it and then with a black spark the key chain transformed to what the key chain was. Alex spun the scythe and the demon came at him Alex took one of the blades and drove it into the demons back the creature roared in pain then lashed out at Alex. Alex didn't avoid the lash in time and was hit in the leg he winced in pain a little then threw the demon into the air and then slashed it into with the scythe.

Alex jumped down and saw a fox walking out load he said "Well there's a sight you will never see a fox walking in the street's I must be as mad as the people say I am." he looked at his scythe and threw it in the air it transformed back to a key chain and hooked to Alex belt. He then sighed "Damn if there was something to do." he went back to the pain in his leg it was hurting him but he shrugged it off for now.

The sky was beginning to turn a dark purple. The colors dancing in the sky would've been brilliant if it wasn't for the current scenario. Connor was sent to kill a former relative of the cafe's new owner. Former relative due to her current condition. She had been out too late one night, and nobody would risk opening their doors to let her, and whatever was chasing her, in. So Connor is being sent to make sure she stayed dead.

He was barely through the gate before he started hearing things which would stop any normal persons heart. The entire ground under him seemed to move, as he heard scratching sounds coming from new graves, and other, indescribable noises coming from the already open graves. He was running out of time before this place became a death trap.

Mia Gibbs...now where are you? He slowly drew his sword, trying to make his presence unknown to anything outside, at least, not yet. The directions given to him would mean that the grave he was looking for would be somewhere near the center of the cemetery, close to a tree or some sort of plant. He just wanted to walk in, kill what needed to be killed, and maybe have some fun along the way. He didn't want to go into someplace where a lone person would be considered suicidal. The only thing that made COnnor want to go, was the chance to find some impressive heirlooms, or some expensive jewelry.

Lexi sat on the bridge... just a jump would end her nightmare, she clutched her violin "Sacred trees and groves so sweet let all your lullabies sing for when the end will come let all their happiness fall." She sang as she placed her violin into the right position and played. when it was over she sat crying on the bridge singing "happy children smiling children always bring peace... and when they cry their hearts will stop and all will be lost." she rubbed her eyes hard so hard they looked red "mother loves her children, mother wants them home cause she does not know that they are gone...mother cries to be with them, mother sings to be forever in their hearts, forever in this land in a nightmare bad a bland she will cry." Lexi climbed back over the bridge and walked in the dark dangerous streets crying "forever in this land bad and bland." she landed onto a bench in front of the cafe she hated being a siren she would drain life from them it made her feel bad every night she would go to the bridge and try to jump but never could. She watched as a man walked by but he seemed to be in a rush was it about that poor girl being hunted down? everyone knew about it, but Lexi didn't want to bother the man. she sighed and slowly got up and made her way home but stopped and sat in front of a rose bush garden. Lexi was depressed and sad, but everything seemed to be so perfect except her.

London had always been a favorite city of his. The light was turning to its darker hues as he made his way out of the old abandoned church that was his current location of bases. Hezubah Crynor's purple eyes shone through as he climbed up the nearest fire escape and onto the rooftops. Ahhhh London! Minus the blood shed and the smoke filled skies, it was always a favorite. The demon hopped along faintly, eyes already alert for what mischief could be ready for him. He was near the parks, where the water ran through softly. At least a peaceful spot...until the monsters came out.

The demon stooped down, his black hair hanging over his face as he slithered down a nearby wall, then disappearing into the city streets, eyes wary and magic ready if need be...though, he was more than able to take care of himself if needed.

I'm running out of time if I intend to get out of here alive. Connor could see less and less as the town began to become engulfed in the deadly shadows of night. He finally made it to Mia's grave, but the worst had happened. Mia wasn't in there, which meant she was out here. This presented a problem. And so did the sound of a low moan coming from somewhere behind him. Oh, bloody hell... He held his sword up in front of him, and searched the slowly oncoming darkness frantically for anything moving. He saw nothing. Not on the ground. Not in the ground either though.

"This isn't good." He muttered to himself. "Mia! I'm looking for you, you annoying lit-" Before he could finish his sentence, a child appeared before him and kicked his leg, in a sort of playful manner. Connor jumped back and put more of his weight on his left leg. The other had become a little sore, though he didn't want to show it.

"You were going to call me a name!" The girl complained and folded her arms.

"I was just going to call you a little brat, as all." He pointed his sword down, seeing how the little whatever-the-heck she'd become wasn't going to do anything immediately. "If you don't want me to call you a name, then why don't you just tell me what you would like right now, eh?" Children...is ignorance really bliss? This was his plan to interrogate the child and figure out exactly how he would have to kill her.

"I would like to go home now. But I can't. Because daddy won't let me in any more." She didn't really seem too sad about that ordeal. "So, instead, when I woke up, I went to someone else's house!"

"And what did you happen to do there?" Too easy. Maybe it was worth it to go here.

"I'm not sure, but I felt much better afterwards. I felt like I had a nice, cool drink when I finally left."

Children are idiots. "Ah, so you're a vampire then." Connor nodded and began thinking of a plan. A very simple plan, seeing as a child wouldn't put up too much of a fight. "Now, whaddya say I help you, 'move on' as they say?"

"No. I think I like being here. I don't wanna move."

"Well, you don't have much of a choice." He lifted up his sword again, and took a little aim. "Ready, Mia?"

"No. I said I don't wanna move!"

"Then what in hell's name are you gonna do here?" His irritation was getting obvious in his voice.

"Well...right now I'm feeling a little thirsty."

...oh...that's just grand. You provoked a child. "You wouldn't hurt the guy that's helped out your dad so many times would you?" The girl only grinned. ...Bloody hell...

Leilana had made it home without any encounters. As she came up to her house she saw a girl sitting in front of the flowers. She tensed, but she didn't look like the normal creature that wandered the streets at night. She came up to the girl, "Are you lost?" she asked. Leilana had hired a gardener to take care of her mother's roses, as it was the only thing left they had of her, and he did amazing work. The roses had never looked more amazing. Leilana get her hand on her pistol, in case this girl was more then just a girl.

Leilana looked at her oddly. "If you like the roses, come back in the morning and I will give you a green root so you can grow your own. And life if a gift, learn to enjoy the small things when life is tough, its what helped me get over mum". Leilana was close to her family so she got over it by enjoying the little things. The taste of fresh coffee, the taste of fresh pastry, a perfect summer day, reading book by candlelight, in time she wasn't thinking of her mom in a sad way. She shrugged as the girl walked away, watching her go. Whether she should be or not, she didn't really feel threatened by her.

He landed on a low window ledge and grinned down at him. "Didn't your mammy tell you not to shoot at strangers?"He grinned, his fangs showing through as he let out a hiss, his tongue sticking out. "I don't have to hurt you. I have new friends that can do that!" The girl looked around the cemetery, looking for something specific.

Connor thought about her words for a few moments. What is she talking about? "Wait a second...you wouldn't."

"Oh, I would." She spread her bat wings, which looked premature and unusable, but she was apparently able to fly with them anyway. Connor swung his sword down, vertically slashing down her stomach as she flew upwards. She let out a piercing scream, one that only a child could possibly let out, yet somehow worse on the ears. Connor covered his right ear with his free hand. He shook off the pain and begin to realize the horror of his situation. All around the graveyard, whatever hadn't already left to begin their hunting, clawed their way to their feet.

"Ugh. Zombies. I hate them." He lifted up his sword and slowly spun around to get a look on his surroundings. If I'm going to die, I'm going down fighting. "C'mon! The dead is damned if they attack me!" Connor quickly looked for an escape route, and the only one he could see was the gate at the front entrance. Grand. One side of the cemetary to the other. Looks like I'm a one-man army tonight. He looked up a final time and saw the child snickering in the air, as the blood dripping from her wound slowed, and then stopped dripping completely. "I'll be back for you in the morning. Better find a good hiding spot for your last game of hide-and-seek."

Mia stopped snickering and folded her arms again. "Hmph. I don't wanna play hide-and-seek. I just wanna watch you play tag with my new friends!" Connor looked back ahead to the horde about to charge at him, apparently waiting for someone to attack first. And Connor planned for that person to be him. I think maybe I should've bought that gun when I had the chance. Connor sighed and made ready his attack.

Lexi nodded to the girl as she left perhaps she would come back tomorrow she was walking up the road that was separated from all the other roads cause it had trees leading up the hill to the mansion on the cliff. while walking she noticed a man with a knife Lexi stopped recognizing the man in the wanted papers he had murdered 5 women on of them was her dearest friend, Maxie, Lexi pulled the knife out from her boot. the man smiled a creepy smile Lexi drew closer to him, the man came closer to her only a few feet away "you killed Maxie didn't you." Lexi asked the man smiled.
"ah that girl the one with red hair and blue eyes? ah yes i remember her oh i had some fun with that one, she begged and begged." he laughed, Lexi clutched her knife.
"your a bastered!" Lexi screamed at him, then pulled out four more knives "I'm going to play with you for a bit." she smiled then slowly backed away into the forest hiding in the trees as she watched him walk beneath her. "you cant find me!" she laughed then jumped to another tree.
"come on out don't hide like they all did!" he yelled Lexi smiled.
"I'm playing a game with you don't you understand? you have to find me before i get board and decide to kill you." Lexi giggled "hurry up I'm getting board." She yawned then jumped to another tree.
"stop your game right now!" he yelled "I'm s-sorry."
"you can say that when your burning in hell. Whops times up!" Lexi jumped down from the tree onto him the knife was stuck in his arm another in his leg the man struggled and cried in pain then for help he started to struggle. "stop struggling because it will all be over soon." Lexi smiled and pulled out the knife in his arm licking the blood off "you have fowl blood you know that?" she whispered in his ear then smiling "let a scream out to show the world that you are dead come on." Lexi pulled his hair "i know you want to." he let out a little yell but not good enough "louder i know you can." he yelled loud enough to hear it if you were in town "good enough I'm done with you." Lexi had her hand in the air and it came down across his neck. Lexi smiled got up and walked all the way back home he was dead and she knew that.

Connor thrusted his sword ahead of him as he charged the horde. He continually sliced at anything that was in his way ahead of him. He knew that there were dead behind him as well, there terrible noises filling the cemetery. He couldn't help but become extremely nervous. All around him was the smell of decaying flesh and death. There was nothing he could do but hope that he would make it to the other side and get to the gate. But, his mind kept flashing back to that terrible day just a few days ago...it seemed like yesterday...

Before any of this had happened, before the invasion of demons and monsters, Connor lived with his parents and younger brother in peace, even though they were living in poverty. Even though it was before the time of the monsters, one had made it's way into Connor's brother's window one night. Hearing his scream, Connor was the first there. When he got there, he froze in fear from what he saw...

Just then, Connor was snapped from his little flashback by Mia, who grabbed him by the shoulder with her claws, and dragged him up in the air. Connor couldn't help but scream in pain. She had created a flesh wound on each of his shoulders. They would heal, but it hurt a hell of a lot.

He was pretty high at this point, but would rather risk falling to his death, then being this child's next meal. So, he took his sword, and maneuvered his body in the girl's claws. He tried to time it perfectly, this way he could get a shot at her heart. Lunging his sword behind him, he clipped his arm, but caused a fatal wound onto Mia as well. She let out another of those screams as she dropped Connor.

Connor could only look down for a split second as he landed on the roof of a house, and tumbled down the slope. He was only able to grab onto the edge with his right arm. He looked down and saw not too far a jump. He felt the warmness of his blood flowing down his arms, and didn't think about staying on that roof any longer, so he let go and dropped. He fell, about twice his height, into an alley.

Landing on his back, he kept his head from hitting the ground too hard. His whole body was sore at this point, but he knew he couldn't stay there. He would have to find a medic. And fast...
