It was the summer of 2016. The summer that changed our lives forever.

We were just kids. We were stupid and reckless, we didn't know where we were going or how we were getting there. All we knew was we wanted freedom.Most of us thought we were on this worldly journey. We thought that we were above the domesticated creatures surrounding us in our grass covered cages. We thought because we didn't listen to pop music and we had dreams of living in New York, that we were the most posh people in our small towns. We were determined to prove this by moving out of mom and dad's homes and moving to the big city. Others of us were born in the city. Born with an understanding of harsher truths than those who's parents guarded them from things that would crush their naive minds.

We were strangers bonded by the need for affection, for a sense of family. We were all so young when we moved from our respective homes from the lives we know on this undetermined journey to find this sort of sense. We all ended up in the same crappy building starving for life and finding excitement in the wrong places. We spend our days scrounging up funds while actively avoiding any job or obligation that will force us to do some sort of menial work or wear a suit.

We pursued romance and friendship. We mourned the loss of our relationships whether at home or abroad. We started out as eight strangers but quickly became eight friends on a adventurous, wild, romantic adventure to find out who we are. Most of us had no money and barely could afford the houses that we lived in but we were somehow, someway joyously happy, at least most of the time. We sought out our identity in every aspect of the way. Were we heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or otherwise? Were we conservative, liberal, did we even care? Did we want a family? A relationship? Most of all were we happy? Really happy, not just the facade of happiness forced upon us by our domineering culture.

God, we wanted to be happy so bad. We wanted to be remembered and important. We had big dreams with all the motivation in the world but we had no one to believe in us except for each other. We had bosses who could care less about us and relationships based on a grain of salt and parents praying that we'd see the light and marry susie homemakers and accountants. But we had each other and back then.. that was enough.

The Director
|| NAME || AGE: 18-25 || OCCUPATION || SEXUALITY || Alfred Enoch || DIALOG COLOR: ||
"One of the few of us that actually came from a well to do family, he could have done anything he wanted. He had a family that would have happily paid for any of his endeavors when he got out of college but he decided to take his own path. He had to work really hard to prove that he was on of us. I mean look at him, have you ever seen anyone more clean cut. I remember the first time I met him I thought he was some sort of brooks brothers models. But he had some depth hidden in him. I think he had this wild streak of independence. It was endearing. "

The Rebel
|| Payton Vaughn || AGE: 24 || Barista || Sexually Fluid || Zayn Malik || DIALOG COLOR:#B22222 || TAKEN by shy_tink_faerie
"He never knew what he wanted. He only knew what he didn't want. He didn't want a nine to five, he didn't want a suit, and especially didn't want the picket fence and the wife and the two point five kids. He was silent and broody and undoubtedly sexy in the best way possible. It made every girl within a twenty mile radius want him and every man want to know what his problem was. He was our little heartthrob and he loved every second of it. "

The Cool Girl
|| NAME || AGE: 18-25 || OCCUPATION || SEXUALITY || Zoe Kravitz || DIALOG COLOR: || RESERVED
"She was so cool that everybody just sort of drifted to her. She never really pursued friends they just gravitated to her like she was the sun in our little misguided universe. She never really noticed how much of an effect she had on all of us. She's known the rebel and the dancer her whole life the rest of us just sort of came along. "

The Debutante
|| Nell Martin || AGE: 20 || Waitress || Heterosexual || Taylor Marie Hill || DIALOG COLOR: #769A6B || TAKEN by me
"Little miss popular. I never really understood why she wanted to hang out with all of us. Like prep she came from a well of family, not like his family but pretty damn close. We thought she was with him at first because they grew up together. At first we thought she was just getting off hanging out with the low lives but I think she actually liked it. I think she liked that she was different from her family. I think they never accepted her, not like we did."

The Sex Icon
|| Amaris Malone-Jones || AGE: 20 || Dancer || Pansexual || Normani Kordei || DIALOG COLOR:#BF8080 || TAKEN by Girl2Fine2
"She was the wild child of the group. She grew up here so she knew the in's and out's of everything and everywhere. I'm not talking rich new york, no the gritty part where tourist don't go. She started dancing at this club when she was like seventeen and has been dancing since. She made the most sense out of all of us to live here. She grew up like thirty minutes away so unlike the most of us she stayed close to her family. "

The Jock
|| Kayden Moore || AGE: 22 || OCCUPATION || Bisexual || Cody Christian || DIALOG COLOR: || TAKEN by Shudderfox-
"Meathead. Jock. Asshole. You name it he's been called it. He was kind of a jerk but he was the most loyal jerk that you could find. He really is a asshole and he really did care more about working out than any of his jobs. But he has wicked hot eyes and somehow has a way into any clubs, probably because at one point he was a bouncer at one of them."

The Loner
|| NAME || AGE: 18-25 || OCCUPATION || SEXUALITY || Colton Haynes || DIALOG COLOR: || RESERVED
"He didn't really need to hang out with us, hell half the time he didn't even want to, yet somehow he did. I can't tell you much about him considering I barely know his last name but I can tell you that he stuck around and helped us whenever we needed it. He was a good guy with an old soul. You know the type, like they'd seen a lot and been through a lot so they have this tough skin around them."

Image

ImageImage
The Good Girl
|| Rosaline Andrews || AGE: 23 || Student || Heterosexual || Sophie Turner || DIALOG COLOR:#004d00 || TAKEN by Immayahoka
"She was the daughter of a preacher and a do gooder mom. We kind of took her in because she was like the lost little lamb. I mean how could we not. We found her when her she found her boyfriend in their bed with a woman who wasn't her. She was sad, lost, and as of that moment homeless. She moved in with our jock and the two of them have been really close since. She might be the only person he's really sweet to. "

Please reserve roles. Please don't just assume they're yours. I don't mind competing for roles but if you do your character sheet needs to be in at least a day after the person your competing with.

Please don't start drama in the OOC. If there is a problem then you can either pm that person or pm me and I can talk to them.

If I come off pushy please let me know. I'm used to rp'ing on tumblr and I'm sure the way you do things there is different from here.

Please have a character in at least by the end of the week because I think I'm going to start on the weekend.

350 Words or more per post please

The character sheet isn't mine but I would like you to have everything on it.

The sun rises over New York signaling the dawn of a new day. As the city wakes up you hear the indisputable sounds of New York. A patron flags down a taxi driver so she can get to work on time. A siren rushes past your window as a police officer drives by risking his life to protect the peace. People talk on their cell phones as the rush by. It's always go, go, go for the city that never sleeps.

It's two o'clock now so most people are getting off of workand going back to their mundane picture perfect lives. However, the residents of Chelsea, a Manhattan based community if artists and dreamers alike, are beginning their days. Well their real days at least. Yeah some worked day jobs in the morning but the real Chelsea life was at night. Even though they lived in Manhattan they didn't live a rich lifestyle. So most of their jobs were what you'd expect them to be: mail couriers, waiters and waitresses, baristas, cooks, etc. Some had night jobs like DJ's and dancers but they were a minority as well.

The Residents of 449 West 22nd street were especially excited today because it was New Years. This meant that they would have their annual New Years party. A potluck they did every year where they all got drunk, ate great food, and talked about all the shit they went through that year. It was a time for reflection that they cherished. The whole gang got to get dressed up all pretty and bitch for a whole night and with their view of the ball dropping they can watch a new year begin. A year they'll swear is going to be different. The party usually ends with a mainly drunk group of them sagging off to their rooms and reconvening the next day for waffles at the diner that Nell Martin worked at.

Eleanor Theresa Martin hated her job with a passion. She worked at a 70's themed diner and drive in so she had to wear skates all day. The uniform was created by some old pervert so it was tight and tiny and every time she bent over to give patrons their food her cheeks came out of her shorts and whenever she lifted her arms the top rose scandalously. The only good part of this job was that the tips were amazing and she got free food. She eyed the clock as she skated to one of her tabled where a group of athletes from some college near by sat. Every time she bent over to put their food on the table they would not so discreetly check out her ass.

"Anything else I can get you boys? " She said in the peppiest voice she could manage. As someone who naturally had a softer voice, well not naturally because it tooks years of speech therapy to develop her voice that her parents found most pleasing, she found that doing the peppy sassy voice she was instructed to use was exhausting.

A guy snatched up her hand and closed it within his own two large ones, a move she was sure made all the girls swoon because if she was some hapless college girl she would have fell right for it, but she knew his type, and said in a deep voice, "You could give me your number? She resisted the urge to giggle and walk away but instead she just nodded, pat his hand, squatted to get at exactly eye level and said confidently while looking in his eye, "Never ever in a million years would I give you my number "

Then with a flip of her hair and her hips swaying she walked away. As soon as she got back in the kitchen she started jumping up and down with excitement. She always saw Amaris do moves like that but she, herself, had never done it. Usually she would just blurt out no and walk away. She felt confident and cool and couldn't help the excitement that bubbled up in her chest.

She untied her apron and clocked out before grabbing her coat, because a halter top and shorts in New York in December were a nightmare, and untying her skates. With a overdramatic sigh, she slung the skates in a bag and slipped on her pale blue uggs.

When she made it back to the apartment she glanced up the staircase that led to her apartment. The old building had one of those vintage lifts from when it was a warehouse but she never trusted that thing so she trudged up the three flights of stairs to her floor.
Her apartment was small but it was cozy. She had at least fifteen pillows in the apartment, seven on her bed alone, she had the comfiest furniture so a lot of her friends would come by and just hang out there. She also had the nicest TV thanks to her dad's co-worker who's bank account she hacked into. Her bedroom wasn't in a room, rather it was divided by ivory curtains which she parted until she went to bed. It was cute and very feminine but she loved everything about it, because it was hers and only hers.

She leaned down to pet her cat, a ragdoll with small blue eyes that lazily gazed at her as if it was allowing her the pleasure of touching her, bitch. But she loved her cat, she loved all cats. She even took care of the neighborhood cats.

Her counter was covered messily with materials to make dessert for their New Year's potluck. Nell could not cook. She could make a really good sandwich, ramen cooked to perfection, and she knew all the her favorite take out restaurants numbers but she could not cook. She could bake though and she was a great baker. She was so good she contemplated opening her own Bakery if she had the funds. Today she was making an apple pie. Last night she had finished the rice crispy treats.

Once her pie was in the oven she started on the task of getting dressed. By then it was around seven o'clock, thanks to her getting distracted by a new episode of catfish and the fact that she stopped to order some sushi. Who can watch catfish on an empty stomach? She took a quick shower and took care of her teeth and hair, which she simply swirled up into a bun, aside from long tendrils of curls which refused to stay in. She bit her lip as she stood naked in front of her closet. The only things from her old life that she kept was her clothes, shoes, and cat. So she had an abundance of options. She settled on a strapless scalloped dress and some nude strappy heels. she finished the outfit with a necklace that a previous boyfriend had bought her.

All she needed now was a smile, and her source of that smile was a little yellow container filled with her newest vice. She received some experimental antidepressants from this therapist that she used to date. She popped two in her mouth and washed them down with a sip of water. Then avoiding the mirror she walked back into her kitchen and opened her fridge to retrieve some ice cream. Except for some ungodly reason there was none. " Shit, shit, shit" She cursed silently as if someone was going to come chastise her.

She walked out of her room and down to the second floor to Zach's apartment. She knocked on his door and shouted, well as much as she could because she didn't really shout," Open up Zack I need Ice Cream and I know you have some."

Payton - or as he preferred Zac - had gotten up early that morning, as Espresso Yourself had opened early and would be closing early due to the New Year. He was dressed in his uniform, which he hated with an extreme passion, wishing that the owners of the place weren't as hipster-y as they came. As he took order after order and made sugar-loaded "coffee" after sugar-loaded "coffee," Zach's day was - to his relief - flying by. About ten minutes before he would be closing up, a woman came in, dressed to the nines in high heels, a short dress, and perfectly styled hair.

"How can I help you?" he asked politely as she approached the counter; he wanted to get her out of there as quickly as he could so that he could go home. "Don't you people serve just plain black coffee?" she scoffed, obviously unimpressed by the shop's menu. "Yeah. It just isn't on the menu." He rang up a black coffee on the register, and looked back up at her. "That'll be $3.17, ma'am." He hated being so formal with people. "'Ma'am?' How old do you think I am?!" Zac had to seriously resist the urge to roll his eyes. Thankfully, she didn't continue and simply paid for her coffee. After she'd left, Zac quickly cleaned up the store and locked up. He made his way quickly to his apartment; it was already four o'clock in the afternoon.

He climbed the flight of stairs to 2A, stepping through the door and into his small apartment. It was a mess as usual, clothes pretty much all over the place, bongs of all shapes and sizes and baggies of weed spread across the coffee table, the pillows on the couch strewn about upon it.

He went into the bathroom and stripped, ready for a well-deserved shower. Once he'd finished, he quickly got dressed into something comfortable, a tank top that showed off his tattoos and black jeans. It was December, but he always overheated if he wore jackets. He laid down on the couch, and absent-mindedly fell asleep.

He woke up when he heard a knock at the door and a voice along with it. "Open up, Zac! I need ice cream, and I know you have some."

He shook his head, knowing exactly who it was. He made his way to the door and opened it, leaning on the door frame, looking at Nell and smiled with his lips, his teeth staying hidden. "You just had to wake me up. I haven't even managed to smoke a bowl yet," he said, stretching and letting her in, shutting the door behind her. "Do you just assume I have ice cream because I'm a stoner? Because if so, you're correct in your assumption." He made his way to the fridge, clicking open the freezer. "All I have is vanilla. I mean, it is my favourite, so it's all I buy." He shut the freezer, handing Nell a pint of the ice cream.

"I've got to get my dish ready for the potluck. Skedaddle," he said jokingly, holding the door open for her. When she'd gone, he sat on his couch again and smoked a bowl as quickly as he could. He wasn't much of a cook, but he was great at making beef and potato samosas. They didn't take too long for him to make, just the prep and baking them for thirty minutes. He made forty of them, hoping that it would be enough, but he figured that with all of the other food, it would be. He wrapped the batches in tin foil and stuck them in a bag, placing a few heated bags in with them to make sure they stayed hot.

He zipped the bag up, slinging it over his shoulder. He locked up his apartment and headed up to Nell's apartment to stave off his boredom while they waited until the party. It was getting late-ish at this point. He knocked on her door. "Nell, it's Zac. Let's chill before the potluck." He could smell what he could have sworn was apple pie, and he hoped that it was, his munchies making him crave it.

Nell had gratefully accepted Zach's ice cream and went back up to her apartment to finish prepping her pies. By then she had this sort of warmth surrounding her, thanks to the sips of season Jack Daniels. Winter Jack, or Tennessee Cider was her very favorite drink because it was smooth and sweet and she mixed it with warm apple cider for a winter treat.

Her music blasted through the her speakers and she danced around the room occasionally rapping lyrics. "Northside coolin', shorty, yeah that's where I stay. Heard you was a lame boy, get up out my face"She sang playfully running her hands down her body and nodding to the beat. She grabbed a rice krispy treat off the counter and stuck it in her mouth. She took a bite out of it and resumed rapping through the song, "I need a thick redbone shorty where I lay. Bad bih in LA, tell me that she'll make the trip "

She took the pie and placed it on a stand and secured it up there before adding a light dusting of powdered sugar on top. She eyed the ice cream while applying the sugar and considered if it would be wise to have a small bowl of ice cream before dinner. I mean technically she was an adult, she could have ice cream before dinner if she wanted it. It seemed juvenile even debating it with herself. Just as she stuck a spoon in the smooth creamy dessert she heard a knock on the door and the unmistakeable silky voice that belonged to Zack. She licked her lips and eyed the ice cream one more time before yelling, "Yeah I'm coming just give me two minutes.... I'm um naked " She winced at the stupid lie and scooped a hefty spoonful of ice cream into her mouth. The moan that came out her mouth was more sexual then it probably should be and so loud that she feared her friend had heard it. She inwardly groaned and made a face.

"I'm such a spazz "She whispered to herself before walking to the door. She opened the door and fixed him with a open mouth smile. "Are you here because your high and I have the best munchies or did you crave my amazing company? " She said letting him enter her apartment. She sniffed the air and groaned, "Do I smell Samosas? " She made grabbing motions in the air, " Can I have one now rather than later? Pretty pretty please"She poked her lip out and widened her eyes. She batted her long lashed jokingly before snatching the bag away from him.

As soon as she bit into one of the flaky savory treats she moaned and nodded appreciatively. This time she didn't even care what her voice sounded like. All she knew was that if she was the queen of pastries then Zack was the king of Samosas. She leaned over her counter which she was leaning on and grabbed her warm glass of spiked cider and took a sip as she finished chewing. "Want some, it's spiked apple cider and it's warm and delicious. I'm pre-drinking so when I get up there I'll be too tipsy to feel the cold. Last year I made the mistake of trying to be cute when we celebrated at the club and all I drank was shots of vodka and I didn't wear a coat. Remember? That year you guys had to help me get home because my whole body was numb and I was drunk. "She scrunched her nose at the memory, "Being carried on the subway was not a good look. I looked so trashed. "

She turned on him and pointed at him with her drink, " And you assholes took pictures." She said in the closest voice she had to a semi-yell. Addicted to my ex came through her speakers and she rapped along to the lyrics."I, I show up to all of her family events cause her momma still love me " She rapped, she grinned at Zack and grabbed a rice krispy, which she handed to him, before plopping on her couch. When he sat next to her she bit her lip and grinned at him, " Any chance you saved some weed for me..."

By the time the Brooklyn-loving West Indies girl returned to her apartment, the warmth emanating from both her stove and oven hit her directly in the face upon opening the front door. Which was exactly what Amaris had been planning for. She had started prepping her meats last night for their little New Years shindig just before going out to shake her ass off for the remaining money she would need to buy the alcohol...since she planned on getting people fucked up tonight. Sure, she was making food to befit the wintry climate since outside was no joke and the warmth that kissed her skin was a welcome sensation as the cold had bit into her dark flesh, but she and alcohol were the best of friends. At least, now that she was older. Amaris was a part-time bartender, after all. It should come to the surprise of no one that she intended to live up to her transposed occupation, but for free this time. The scent of cooking meats and broth mixed headily with the jasmine incense that normally permeated the air of her one-bedroom lodging.

Closing the door behind her, Amaris shrugged off her sleeveless jacket and scarf to reveal the outfit from underneath. It was easy to assume, considering the different clothes and the sneaking in occasional brand clothing, that Amaris either had a Sugar Daddy or was doing a lot more than dancing at night. But the truth of the matter was that she was a Goodwill's kind of girl and no matter which one you went to, there was always some dumb soul that gave up an item that was worth more than Amaris' rent and then priced down to the amount of money she would pay at stores like H&M. Which was right up her alley, thank you very much. So, when her friends would joke around about her Mystery Sugar Daddy because Amaris was being so stylish, she never actually denied it - just let them think what they pleased. She still paid for her rent and occasionally getting them all white-girl-wasted.

The heels of her knee-high boots clicked along the wood floors as she headed into the kitchen area, and Amaris set down her two heavy brown paper bags on the counter before checking on the food she was preparing. She spent a lifetime hustling for good deals on every single thing she owned or purchased, so she went the extra mile in terms of getting food for the night. She didn't make it often, but she was using her grandmother's oxtail recipe from Speighstown, Barbados with rice and peas cooking in another pot. The meatballs were halfway finished, so she could take them out and start working on the honey-chipotle sauce from the recipe she had found in her grandmother's cookbook. Turning the stew up just slightly on the stove, she washed her hands first before getting the meatballs out of the oven and letting them sit on the counter. While Nell had the most comfortable furniture (since Marie's didn't count as she had a very plush mattress cover that gave the illusion of her bed being naturally soft, so it wasn't real), Amaris made sure to keep her fridge the most stocked and she had the most counter space - which was convenient for moments like these when she was cooking for everyone.

With nothing close to being fully done save for the rice and peas, Amaris set to starting on one of the drinks she learned how to make at the club. To keep with the season, she was making the Baked Apple which included Everclear, Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum, and Apple Schnapps. It was a shot that she was going to make everyone at least do one of when they came upstairs, so when she was done mixing, she poured a bit of the contents into four shot glasses. Everclear was the most potent of all of the alcohol she bought, so she wasn't surprised by the sharp burn that assaulted her throat the second she tossed one of the glasses back and swallowed. Humming, Amaris grinned and grabbed the other three, deciding to head to Nell's apartment for a little bit. At least one person winded up in the brunette's place during the day, might as well get people to try shit.

Making sure her keys were still in her jacket pocket, Amaris closed the door behind her with her hip and headed upstairs to Nell's place. She had to kick the door a few times with her heeled boots to get attention as she yelled, "Open the door and love me, Nelly! I bring test-tasting gifts!"

"Are you here because your high and I have the best munchies or did you crave my amazing company? Do I smell Samosas? Can I have one now rather than later? Pretty, pretty please?" Nell pleaded. Zac rolled his eyes. "You do know that if you were anyone else, I would say no, right?" he said playfully, flashing her a side smile before taking one of the Samosas out for her. She let out a moan that blatantly told him that his Samosas were as good as ever, if not better. She grabbed a glass of cider. "Want some? It's spiked apple cider and it's warm and delicious. Being carried on the subway was not a good look. I looked so trashed." She didn't look too particularly happy about recounting the event.

"No, thanks. And how could I forget? I'm the one that had to carry you, and I hate the subway." He shuddered at the thought of the subway. She turned to him, pointing at him with her glass. "And you assholes took pictures." He stared back at her, an expression that read "really?" written across his face. "I didn't. Our other asshole friends did," he laughed. Her speakers started blasting Addicted To My Ex, and as per the usual, she was rapping along. It sounded weird hearing a female voice rapping the lyrics. He laughed again, and she handed him a rice krispie, just what his munchies were needing. She sat on the couch, and he took the seat next to her, shoving half of the rice krispie into his mouth. She looked at him, biting her lip, and he gave her a look. She piped up: "Any chance you saved some weed for me?" Her voice sounded innocent, though her request was not. He smiled. "Ho cod I fuh-get?" he said, mouth still full of the rice krispie. He swallowed it and repeated himself. "How could I forget?"

He leaned back, sliding a baggie out of his pocket. He reached into his other pocket, pulling out a small, glass pipe. "Did you really think I'd come unprepared? You know I don't drink, so I have to keep myself fucked up somehow," he said, nodding in affirmation to his statement. He packed the pipe with the Pitbull Marijuana, a nastily strong strain, and they smoked a few rounds, the THC kicking in very quickly.

There were a few loud poundings on Nell's door that made Zac jump. The weed was definitely working. He heard a familiar voice through the door. "Open the door and love me, Nelly! I bring test-tasting gifts!" It was Amaris, and Zac knew the party would be starting asap. Amaris was always giving the group things to try; she loved to test things on everyone. He smiled at Nell, who looked like she was feeling just as fucked up as he was. He jumped up, getting slightly lightheaded from getting up too quickly, and made his way to the door, opening it. He smiled a toothy smile at Amaris. "You have definitely come to the right people for taste-testing."

Nell nodded slowly she understood that Zack didn't drink so of course his only way to lose himself at parties was to smoke a lot of weed. She watched as he packed the pipe and as lifted it to his lips, noting that it was actually quite the erotic thing to watch. When he passed it to her she repeated the same motions that he did. She leaned up against him, and watched him lift his head to blow out a thick cloud of smoke. She blew in too deep, to quickly, on one of her puffs and ended up coughing so she leaned forward and took a long sip of her drink, which she forgot was alcoholic but who cares.

It was no secret little Eleanora Martin could not handle alcohol, not even a little, in fact she couldn't handle most things. One summer she managed to get a big deposit from one of her father's associates and she took everyone to this music festival that was in D.C. She didn't remember a lot of the events because she paid thirty dollars for a ring pop laced with Molly.... Except one thing, at one point she fell asleep in some girls tent and she tried to have sex with her. She passed out in the middle of it and woke up, per usual when she got really messed up, in Zach's arms in the backseat of the 70's van they rented to drive to the festival.

But then that's how Nell and Zach were. She was close to everyone in the group. Amaris was like a older sister to her, always giving her advice on things she had no understanding of. Keira was like the coolest person she had ever met, she was so mature and she didn't care what people thought about her. Rosaline and Nell had a complicated relationship where she liked Rosaline but she also envied her and didn't like to be around her. Kaiden was brooding and manipulative but somehow always there for her. And Fletcher, well he was always there quiet and unassuming.

Nell and Zach were just..different. They had different rules and they had a different vibe around them. Zach didn't lecture her about her drug use, even when he had to take care of her because of it. Zach came over to her house and cheered her up after every bad break up. Zack was.... Zach. Most of her friends she saw as a family and he was family too, but at the same time she didn't see him as a brother or a cousin she just saw him as "her zach".

After a few rounds that were quite strong, Zach always had the best, she was surprised to hear a banging on her door. She flopped back against her couch and snickered, "Oh God we're being robbed ", but when the banging was followed by "Open the door and love me Nelly! I bring taste-testing gifts" she giggled a little and watched him open up the door, flashing Amaris one of his toothy grin's when he opened it. "Zack I think it's the sexiest robber in New York, but she's not very good because she brought things to me " She joked. Like Zack, well like the whole group, the sight of Amaris with containers of food got her excited. She always had some sexy exotic cuisine for them to try.

She vaguely heard Zach say, "You've definitely come to the right people for taste-testing." She sat up quickly, mistake, and said, " Lets head to the roof!" She went for her pie but then reconsidered because that seemed like a really dumb idea. "Zach can you carry that to the roof? " She asked as she slipped on her long tan coat. She grabbed her polaroid camera and shoved it in the pocket before grabbing the rice krispy treats which were already in a container and grabbing Zach's samosas. She turned Maris around with her shoulders as they headed up to the roof.

Kayden Moore collected jobs the way a streetwalker collected johns and blew through them just as fast. No pun intended, depending on the job. From waiter to custodial work, cashier to bouncer. To be honest, being a bouncer was the only job he really enjoyed. For someone who detested any kind of work with a passion (because if youโ€™re working, youโ€™re not working out), it was reasonably decent. His physique was an asset, for one. And thereโ€™s nothing more fun than throwing someone out of a place, or looking at beautiful people all night. As he sat on a workout bench watching his latest client attempt to curl a measly fifteen pound dumbbell, he wondered to himself why he even quit the bouncer scene in the first place. Oh, right. Working all night leads to sleeping all day, and even Kayden had to admit he didnโ€™t want to run as bad as he wanted to fucking sleep. Itโ€™s not even like the pay was better than his current job; personal trainer at the gym. Heโ€™d managed to scam all the gym newbies into paying him an extra few dollars per hour since they didnโ€™t know any better, and none of them had the inclination to ask around about a more typical, reasonable personal trainer rate. โ€œThatโ€™s great,โ€ Kayden offered his client half heartedly, his attention divided between not really giving a flip about the service heโ€™d sold his soul to for the past couple of months, and a pair of legs on the stair master to his left. The man he was โ€œtrainingโ€ said something in response but Kayden didnโ€™t catch it. Clients were always saying something. Asking something. Doing something wrong. Unsure. He really didnโ€™t have the time or the patience. Guess he was going back to the club.

Eventually, praise God, the session ended and Kayden could reclaim the meager percentage of his focus that was dedicated to work and dial one hundred percent back into himself. He flew through a workout as quickly and efficiently as he could manage before the gym closed early for the day, then made his way back to his apartment. It wasnโ€™t anything special. He was sure most of the tenants - his friends - could attest to the same. But he made the one bedroom home work. Kayden dropped his gym bag to the ground once he got in, tossed his keys somewhere. He intended for them to land on the coffee table, but the floor was good enough. Kayden stepped over various items of clothing, shoes, towels, and whatever else was on the ground in his bedroom. Never one to keep things tidy, he figured it was easier to find stuff if it was out in the open. If that means leaving it on the ground then so be it. To be fair, though, his cat had a hand in the dysfunction that was his living quarters. Where was his cat anyway? Most people knew Kayden had a tendency to treat his pet with more respect than even his own friends, but it wasnโ€™t his fault. They shouldโ€™ve been cuter. For a moment, Kayden called the felineโ€™s name but figured the cat was probably asleep somewhere when he didnโ€™t show himself. Kayden had other things to focus on anyway, like getting ready for the party that was supposed to be going on later today.

After Kayden got out of the shower, he opted out of the usual gym shirts and joggers in favor of something more fitted to life outside of the gym. He couldโ€™ve tried a little harder. "Could have" being the operative word, as he figured him showing up was good enough and his face tended to make up for his lack of effort when it came to affairs such as these. Right? Sure. Kayden kicked his dirty clothes to the side as he left the bathroom and headed into the kitchen, the sight of dirty dishes piled up making him run a hand through his wet hair in despair. Of course he forgot he was supposed to cook something for the party. โ€œYouโ€™re supposed to remind me of these things, Cake,โ€ he called out to his pet, mostly joking but slightly frustrated by the fact that his own irresponsibility sabotaged his life on the regular.

ImageNot that it really mattered. He had several bottles of Bacardi in the fridge and drunk people donโ€™t exactly take note of who brought what food dish. Or he hoped so. Kayden bounced on his heels, eyes scanning the sparse cabinets and the open pantry, trying to do the math as to whether or not he could throw something together with the few food items he had left. Donโ€™t ask him why he didnโ€™t go shopping before hand (completely forgot) or how someone so health and fitness conscious made it through life without buying food (hardly in the apartment; Chipotle was life). Eventually he just shrugged his shoulders. Kayden made it through life relatively stress free despite his lack of preparation and consideration for this very reason; he just didnโ€™t care. โ€œThey know what the deal is, huh, Cake?โ€ Kayden laughed, picking up the sleep-disorientated animal after he found it hanging out in one of the empty cabinets. Anyone who gave Kayden a task and expected him to do it was only setting themselves up for failure.

Kayden set some food and water out for his cat before finding an empty cardboard box and setting all the alcohol inside of it. Then he pulled on some shoes, just some black converse, and left the apartment altogether. Was he early? Late? Kayden honestly couldnโ€™t tell you the details of the party, only that he was going with a box full of liquor. (Of which, better be appreciated). It wasnโ€™t long before he could hear someone out in the hallway trying to get in someone elseโ€™s apartment. It wouldnโ€™t surprise him if it was Nellyโ€™s. She had the nicest set up of the whole group, and itโ€™d be a lie to say Kayden hadnโ€™t taken advantage of their friendship just for the opportunity to stay in a well furnished and homey apartment. Thatโ€™s not to say he didnโ€™t love her, or his other friends for that matter. She just had what he wanted yet lacked the ambition to attain for himself.

His earlier assumption was right when he saw Amaris calling for Nelly to let her in. Kayden sauntered up behind her just as the door swung open. โ€œIโ€™m hurt, Amaris, maybe I wanted to taste-test,โ€ he said, feigning emotional hurt and throwing an arm around her shoulder as he shifted his box of alcohol to his other arm. โ€œYou gotta leave a glass outside the door or punch me in the face or something next time -- just so I know you notice me, babe,โ€ he teased. Kayden took back his arm and stepped out of the way as Nelly and Zac came out of the apartment with items to take to the roof. He briefly wondered where the rest of the group was, but figured everyone would wind up in the same place anyway.

As Nell grabbed up his Samosas and other things, he picked up the pie she had asked him to grab. Why she thought it was a good idea to have him carry it was beyond him, but maybe it was because he had a slightly better handle on himself when he was high. As they were about to leave, Kayden sauntered up to Amaris, complaining that he hadn't been asked to taste test anything. Zac rolled his eyes at him; he was always flaunting himself and his perfect, pretty boy body.

When they got to the roof, Zac set the pie down gently on one of the tables, glad he hadn't dropped it on the way up. He wondered where everyone else from their group was; it was already almost nine o'clock at night. It had felt like the hours after his shift had ended had just up and disappeared from his day. He figured it was because of the weed. It was top of the line, and it got him fucked up quickly. He made his way to the roof's edge and pulled out his pipe and another small baggie of weed. He had a tendency to pretty much always carry about five or six of the baggies on him at all times. He packed the pipe and lit it, inhaling a heaving intake of smoke. He remembered the first time he'd done so - had practically coughed up a lung. Now, he knew what he was doing, years of practice definitely helped.

He was excited for the night, for the new year. He just hoped that no one got as fucked up as they had last year. As one of the only ones who didn't drink, he was usually in charge of taking care of the others. Him, and Rosaline. She was the other one that ended up in that spectrum of the group when it came to partying. Though, unlike him, she never ended up getting high. She was straight edge, or at least he was pretty damn sure she was. She didn't seem to do anything reckless, and he never quite knew how to feel about it. He had always surrounded himself with people like him, in the aspect of rebelliousness, at least in some way. She was the exception.

He glanced over at Nell, who was sitting down. He could tell that the Pitbull had hit her hard, and he laughed. It was always entertaining to watch her. He wondered if she had taken any pills before he'd seen her. She had a slight problem with taking prescription medication that wasn't hers, and while he never stopped her from doing it, he had never really approved of her doing so. He wasn't big into hard drugs or things of the like. He had never been to a "Skittles party," and he had never bothered with anything stronger than marijuana, not even Molly or other forms of ecstasy. He just enjoyed the strongest and best strains of weed that he could get his hands on instead, and they got the job done in his opinion.

ImageSitting behind a desk, content but remotely bored, he tapped his fingers on the smooth polished wood. Ever so often he looked up at the clock, he knew he had somewhere else that he needed to be. Work was nice and all, he loved to read so the library was like a safe haven for him. Books were always just a thing he could easily get lost in. Books were nice, but so was being with his friends. Unfortunately he had about thirty more minutes before he could get off. Fletcher had tried to convince his boss to let him off early, but the answer had been a no for whatever reason. At this time there was anyone here: a janitor, a lady reading, a young boy on a computer, and Fletcher. That was all.

A hand rested on his shoulder causing him to jump. "Relax, Fletcher," the voice said with a laugh, "I'm just here to let you know you can leave now. I'll watch over everything." Staring at his boss it didn't take long for the glare to merge into a smirk. "Are you sure I can leave early?" His boss laughed and patted him on the back, "It's New Years, go have fun." Without saying anything Fletcher nodded his head and rose to his feet. I have to hurry and get ready, entirely he groaned as he made a quick jog from the building and out into the streets.

It wasn't too cold outside nor was it warm. Instead of focusing on the temperature he kept his mind on getting back to his apartment. Maneuvering past people on the street caused him to get pushed and bumped into, even a few people screaming back at him as he moved by. "Touch me again see what happens you-" "Sorry!" Apologizing back loudly before a stranger could finish what they were saying to him. Who thought it would be so congested at this time.

***

Before he knew it he was back in apartment 3B. "What should I wear tonight..." Softly speaking to himself he rushed over to his closet and began looking through his options. He wasn't sure what to wear, at this moment he only had on a thin jacket and blue jeans, he could wear that to the party, but he wanted to try a little harder than that.

As he moved around shirts back and forth, hangers clinging, he finally came to a decision. Quickly unzipping his jacket he threw it to the floor, followed by him pulling out a light button-down from his shirt. Putting his arms through the sleeves and then fumbling with the buttons for a couple of seconds it didn't take him long to get it on. Fletcher knew he wasn't dressed up, in fact he was still pretty casual, but he also knew it was better than wearing a jacket.

Once that was all done he rushed into the kitchen, slung the refrigerator door open, and pulled out the poorly made meat load that was prepared for the potluck. Despite the appearance the flavor of the thing was fantastic. Time to go.

***

It didn't take long for Fletcher to reach the party, not seeing anyone downstairs he wondered up to the roof. "Sorry for being late." He stated to the others while he put his food down.

Keira had the day off as requested by herself. She didn't want to work today especially since it was New Years and her friends, along with other people were planning on meeting up on the roof to watch the ball drop. It was an unusual way to watch it but she didn't care as long as she was around people that she liked and loved. She had spent most of the day shopping around the market, getting items ready to make her sandwiches for the event tonight.

After entering back into her apartment, she had sat the groceries down and exhaled, while resting her hands upon her hips. "Well, let's get cracking." She had while prepping the sandwiches up. She had even cut them down to be the size of finger sandwiches. She had added a bit of ham, turkey along with bacon, lettuce and tomato with a single spread of mayonnaise on them, too. She had bit into one of them to taste test them and she closed her eyes then let out a soft 'mmm' of sensation.

Keira had wrapped the sandwiches up after putting them on a tray then sat them down in the fridge while getting ready to meet everyone. She had went ahead and showered, lathing her body with her new scent Apple Cinnamon as she eventually stepped out of the shower. After emerging herself from the shower, she dried herself off, brushed her teeth and combed her raven colored locks of hair. She knew that people maybe surprised that she didn't have her braids in for tonight but she decided to try something new. Keria had emerged from a lightly steamed bathroom and got dressed.

She had adorned her body with a dress that was blue in color, strapless on one side while the other side had a full sleeve. She had placed upon her feet open toed heels, which were also blue in color as she stood up, walking around to make sure she could actually walk in them. Keira went back inside of her bathroom and applied a light coat of makeup to her face and a dab here and there of lip gloss to her lips. After that was done, she grabbed her coat and place it on herself, buttoning it up and tying the strap. Keira walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge, grabbing her tray of sandwiches. "Let's get this party started." She muttered to herself while walking out of her apartment, making sure it was locked before going up to the roof, where everyone else was already at.

"Hello, guys!" She slightly screamed while waving her hand from side to side as she walked over towards the group with a smile, sitting her sandwiches down then giving every single person a hug. "So, what are you guys talking about? Anything interesting?" She had asked while stuffing her hands into the inside of her coat pockets, looking at everyone.

By ten Nell and the residents who had showed up already, which was pretty much her, Zach, Amaris, Kayden, and Fletcher. They had extended an invitation to some of the residents near by and they were encouraged to invite anyone they were friends with or worked with if they wanted. Nell set up all the food that people had brought on the tables that leaned up against the brick walls. She placed Amaris's oxtails, rice and peas, and meatballs first on the the first table. Next to it was Zach's samosas, which she kept sneaking bites of, beside that was Fletcher's meat loaf. The second table had her desserts and third table had Kayden's drinks.

She was flitting around the roof setting up while her friends began lounging around on the mismatched chairs that sat on the roof. The roof was the product of tenants present and past. A long grey sofa lined the west wall. Wooden tables sat against one table. A long string of lights was strung up that gave it a warm hazy glow. Blankets and pillows scattered all over the sofa. Tarps were folded next to the sofa. A very large tapestry lay on the ground as a makeshift rug. A fire pit sat in front of the couch. A small green house was in the very south of the building. Though more often than not it was used to store the pillows and blankets in such. At one point it was used to plant weed though nobody ever copped up to who was the one that grew it. At the time only three of the tenants that live there now were residents.

By eleven guests they had invited had shown up as well. The guest ended up bringing spicy wings, one of them brought various juices, potstickers, churros, a jello cake, baklava, shish kabobs, and two of them brought pasta In all including the eight residents who lived in the building seventeen people showed up. Nell pulled out her camera and started taking pictures of her friends lounging on the sofa's. Most of the pictures were candids but a few of them came turned and posed for her. She was taking a photo of Amaris when she heard Keira yell out, "hey, guys She turned to her friend and smiled. "So, what are you guys talking about? Anything interesting?"

Nell turned around to her and smiled, "Not much we just got here. " She motioned to the food on the tables, "Food's done though and Kay brought a ton of alcohol so help yourself. I also bought some festive plates, cups, and cutlery. It should be on the second table. " She added while walking to the table and making herself a drink. It was a simple mix of vodka and lemonade. Nell never really drank straight alcohol. It was always a mix of some sort. By eleven she was passing quickly into drunk territory. Unfortunately Nell was always first to get smashed. She always pre-drank, usually took a pill, and Zach usually indulged her if she asked for some weed.

As a thought burst into her head she jumped a little, spilling a bit of her drink on herself, and pointed at her friends, " Somebody do shots with me." She set her drink on a small table on the corner next to the sofa and headed to the drinks table where she lined up five shot glasses. She poured a generous amount of tequila in them and winked at her friends before handing each of them one, except for Zach of course. With a bright toothy smile she said confidently, "Shots " And downed hers easily.

Amaris grinned the second the door was flung open and not because she was able to see Nell's smiling face, but when she heard Kayden's voice from behind her. Steps in general, when they emerged from her back, always made Amaris tense, but upon hearing the male's voice, she couldn't the expression that formed on her face as she tossed a flirtatiously lifted eyebrow his way and purred, "Awww, poor baby! How could I not notice you?" It probably didn't help to stroke Kayden's ego, but flirting was too much in Amaris' nature for her to feel bad for it. Besides, if he got too arrogant, she'd come up with something later. Before the conversation could continue, however, Nell was turning her around to head to the roof and soon enough, the party was starting.

Some time, after guests started showing up, Amaris had coerced one of their neighbors into helping her bring the oxtail stew, the rest of the honey-chipotle meatballs, and rice and peas from her apartment, along with the alcohol she had bought. Because, despite the fact that everyone brought at least some kind of alcoholic beverage, no one could ever have enough alcohol. And of course, she had to pose when Nell pulled out that camera of hers. Amaris never failed to pose, even when Nell was taking pictures of people eating. She was just in the middle of laughing at a face one of their neighbors made in one of their poses when she heard Keira behind Nell. While Nell greeted the other brunette, Amaris caught sight of Fletcher and waved at him, "Hey, Fletch! Come drink with us!"

Though, it appeared, Nell had somehow beat her to the chase, as the brunette beauty bounced on her toes after spilling a bit of her drink and demanding that someone do shots with her. Chuckling, Amaris launched out of her seat, wrapped an arm around Keira to pull her longtime friend along, and bound over to the girl just as a shot was placed in her hand. "What did I tell you 'bout these baby shots, Nelly?" She demanded playfully before tossing back the shot easily. Her throat was too accustomed to the clear liquid for the burn barely even existed. She glanced at Keira with a grin. "This is why I'm the bartender here and that one," she nodded over to Nelly teasingly, "is the lightweight."

ImageRosaline's room looked like a tornado of paisley, flowers, and bright colors and smelled like sandalwood as she tried to decide what to wear. Her bright red hair was blown repeatedly from her face as she looked at the chaos and destruction. Her apartment was as old and colorful as you could get in this day. As soon as she saw it she had to have it. It was a little more color and pattern than most people's tastes but she'd always liked things like that. There was simply no decision to be made though on the clothing front so she dramatically threw her hand over her eyes and bent to reach whatever piece of clothing called to her. She pulled up a heavier garment, Wool? Fantastic! It should be freezing. She opened her eyes to reveal a very colorful and flowery dress that's probably been at the bottom of her closet since she moved. Quickly, she threw on some thick black thermal leggings and a high collar white button down before slipping on the dress as well as some bright orange mary-janes. Her style didn't always make sense to everyone, but the more colorful she could be the better. Color always made her happy.
She brushed her hands over the front of the dress and smiled. She didn't wear perfume often, opting to use her beauty oils as they gave of a fresh woodsy scent. However, the smile she sported moments before was hastily replaced with a gasp as she finally looked up at the clock and realized just how late she was. She hated tardiness, but she was so damn scatterbrained it was any wonder she even made it to things on her own. A distressed mantra fell from her lips as she scurried to round up the food,
"nononononononononononononononononononononononono"
And believe that there was plenty to gather. First she pulled out the two fruit tarts from the refrigerator and had those in separate boxes in no time flat. Then she opened the oven and grabbed some pot holders to remove the turkey she had simmering. Turkey is a staple holiday meal after all. Then waiting in the microwave were her, "stillfamousbutnevergoodenough" Chocolate Chip cookies she baked just that morning. Turkey took a long time to prepare after all and she liked to cook. No one would expect any less. She checked her Mickey Mouse watch and began to load up her arms. Placing the cookie tray on top of the large container holding the steamy turkey, Rosaline grabbed a tart box in each hand and grunted at the obvious heavy wait. Thanking the skies above that she at least had enough foresight to open the door before she loaded herself down, she stepped across the threshold and kicked the door shut with her foot, the door locking automatically. She stopped though and squinted her eyes before she cave her hips a shake. She nodded triumphantly as she heard her keys jingle against her phone in the pocket of the dress and looked at the stairs challengingly.
"It's just you and me my old foe"
With one last giant breath, she began at a quickened pace up the stairs to the roof. Luckily it wasn't a very large building but ,naturally, it lacked an elevator. By the time she got near the top she was heaving breaths and trying her damnedest not to fall back down the stair to her doom. She quickly pushed the door open with her foot and, with a new burst of energy, swiftly power walked to where she could see food clearly piled and organized,
"Heavy Heavy Heavy HEAVY." And as she reached the table she set the turkey down at an angle on the side and slid it further onto the table so she wouldn't hurt the tarts that she perched next to it. She wiped off the imaginary sweat that had accumulated on her forehead and gave a beaming smile to everyone.
"WHEW!", she placed a hand on her hip crooked her thumb at the turkey, "That is one Big Bird." She chuckled lowly at her bad joke and began unwrapping the food to display.
