On the left side of her pelvis, right next to her hipbone, is a tribal panther tattoo. If she wears loose pants and lets them hang low, the upper half of the panther is visible.
Danny has hundreds of scars on her body from both trying to resist authority and inflicting the wounds upon herself. They are mostly located on her back, shoulders, wrists, and palms.

Abilities
Danny is not 100% human. Her genes are shared with a Black Panther’s, giving her abilities humans wish they could have. One of the more noticeable things about her is the fact that Danny has an extra set of black, furry, round-tipped ears sitting atop of her head and a thick, long, velvety black dull-tipped tail. Her senses are heightened so sharply that her strongest sense is actually her hearing. If she were to close her eyes, she could describe her surroundings easily using her sense of smell and echolocation. On each of her fingers and toes are retractable claws that are stronger than diamonds. Her canines can elongate and shrink at will. If she has enough power behind her swing, she can cut through almost anything. Danny’s body has a much higher physical capability than regular humans. She can run at almost 35 mph and is stronger than five fully grown men. She has an added sense of balance and always lands on her feet, not to mention she can land large drops without injury. She is more flexible than any acrobat dreams they could be. Danny can also talk to cats and see perfectly in the dark.

Because of the circumstances in which Danny got her powers, there were many side effects. Danny now has a very special form of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Inside of her mind is a the voice of the feline, animalistic instincts she has to resist every day. Danny has named her Onyx. Sometimes, very rarely, Onyx will mentally overpower Danny and take control of her body. When this happens, Danny’s eyes turn a bright gold color, opposed to their usual deep hazel. When Onyx is in control, the small sliver of mercy Danny has vanishes. Onyx will destroy everything in her path, and Danny will not regain control until she is either sedated or passes out from exhaustion.

Weaknesses
~Her Powers~
Danny’s extra physical attributes also provide her with weaknesses. Strong scents and extremely loud or high-pitched sounds can weaken or completely incapacitate her. If her tail is broken or dislocated, not only does it cause extreme pain, but she completely loses her sense of balance and cannot even walk.

~Onyx~
Danny has to deal with Onyx 24/7, which can be rather tiring. When Onyx takes control, she puts Danny into more dangerous situations than she would like.

Personality

{ | Temperamental | Intelligent | Secretive | Intimidating | Broken | Playful | }

Danny is extremely temperamental. Her mood can snap faster than a cheap rubber band. This also happens to leave her with a very short fuse, so bugging her isn’t the best of ideas. She also always has that look to her. You know the one. The shifty eyes. The biting of her lip. She almost always looks like she has something she’s trying to hide, which is almost always true. If she really wanted or had to, she would be able to hide it, but if not, its very easy for her to appear secretive. Danny, when not wracked with guilt and depression, can be very intimidating. She’s rather tall for her age, and her stance is dominating, with squared shoulders, glaring eyes, and a tense jaw. Like all cats, she’s cunning and intelligent, with a tongue as sharp as her claws.

Ever since she was taken to this place, Danny has been broken. This mostly has to do with the incident that lead her to being captured. She’s been even moodier. She used to spend her nights crying herself to sleep, self-harming, and attempting suicide. She hates herself for the monster she believes she is, though Onyx is generally the one to blame. Deep down, Danny is actually a very kind, heroic, merciful person. She used to be very playful and energetic, but living a nightmare can do so much to the spirit.

Onyx, on the other hand, is rather different than Danny. Onyx is very proper and old-fashioned to humans. She is utterly merciless, and will try to destroy anything in her way.

View on the Program
“The government has made some stupid ass decisions, and I would say this is one of them if I didn’t have a life sentence hung over my head. I think that some people deserve to be locked up forever. I may or may not be one of them, but I think that some people shouldn’t be freed, don’t deserve to be freed. I’m afraid this program may be giving privileges to people who don’t deserve it.”

Crimes
Danny is charged with 42 accounts of murder and 12 accounts of manslaughter that they know of. And the numbers don’t appear to slowing down. She was also charged with resisting arrest, though that is a bit more minor to the other things she’s done.

History
Many people wonder why Danny is the way she is today, but if you were to ask her directly, she would either start sobbing grossly or have a mental breakdown.
You see, Danny is one of those… “heroes” with sad beginnings. Those of which so sad, that she spends all day trying to forget only realize that it’s all she thinks about.

It was my fault.

Daniella Samantha Mixon was born to two well off people, her mother being a beautiful Brazilian woman and her father a rather rich American businessman. However, Danny’s birth was not well at all… she was born almost a month early. She barely weighed three pounds. The doctors told her parents that their baby probably wasn’t going to last very long…

After trying unsuccessfully before, her parents were desperate to make this baby work. They tried contacting dozens of specialists, they all told them that the baby was doomed to die before it even got to live. Well, all except one. Of course, this had to be the shadiest of them all. They informed the two parents that they were working on an experiment of sorts… that, if successful, would not only save their weak little daughter, but insure that she will be strong for all of her life. The parents were skeptical and asked if the experiment would leave her with defects. The doctor’s exact words were “They will not be defects, but blessings.”

A few days later, the two parents brought their sick little child to the disclosed location of the doctor’s lab. The doctor made them sign many legal contracts, so many so that they grew even more skeptical. After all the paperwork was done, the doctor took their child from their arms and went into a separate room, locking the door behind him.

The waiting seemed endless, although it lasted only a few hours. They two had to suffer through listening to the roar of machines and the crying of their baby girl, who sounded like she was in pure agony. The doctor stepped out of the room, covered in sweat and, seemingly, grime. Daniella was curled up in his arms, quietly asleep. The parents were utterly amazed. She had appeared to put on pounds instantly and was glowing with health. Mrs.Mixon reaches for her baby girl, only for the doctor to take a step away. “Now… About those blessings…” Her mother’s loud gasp echoed throughout the empty room as she saw the small, furry black ears on her daughter’s head.

My fault.

They tried. They really did. Danny’s parents wanted to make it work, but they couldn’t. They were too naive. Too stubborn. They didn’t even attempt to understand. When Danny told them that the voice in her head was making her do all these bad things, they wouldn’t believe her. Danny can’t remember when it was, but at some point, her parents just stopped caring. They were simply there to provide her with food, clothes, education, and a place to live. Danny had everything she wanted. Well, anything material. The love of her family was not something she could buy with her parent’s money. That’s when the insults started.

It was as if something snapped. They couldn’t keep up the charade for much longer. Her father started an argument out of nowhere, and it go out of hand. Danny was 17 at the time. He told her that if she didn’t get her emotions under control, he would have her ears, tails, claws and fangs removed. Danny was utterly terrified. He spoke of her like she was some out of control house cat.

The two stopped talking after that. Her mother, who was the more understanding of the two, was their only means of communication. But Danny could tell she was crumbling. After a tense high school graduation ceremony, Danny immediately moved from her parents’ house to attend college and pursue a field in film editing, voice acting, and screenwriting. It was at this college Danny met Rosalie.

Rosalie was a short, blonde, fiery girl that was in Danny’s Film Editing class. A chance encounter involving hot, spilled coffee and a light pink blouse led the two girls to becoming close friends, and not much longer after that, lovers.

I couldn’t control it.

Rose was all that Danny had to live for. The two were extremely close. They had been dating for about two years, when something happened. Danny had gone out, had a bit too much to drink, and Onyx took control in her mentally weak state. There had been accidents before, but nothing as big as this. Danny woke up in an alleyway, covered in blood. She could tell it wasn't hers. She ran to her apartment where she and Rose had been staying. Rose was utterly shocked as Danny told them they had to leave. Now.

Not strong enough.

Rose would not have left for anyone else. She had the strength not to look past Danny’s powers, but embrace them and even consider some of her feline aspects very attractive. She loved how Danny had such a gentle yet powerful aura about her, with sarcastic remarks and the cutest laugh to boot. The two packed their bags and moved to another state on the other side of the country. Danny changed her last name to Lynx, and shortened her middle name to Sam.

For a few months, it seemed as if things would go well. Things would work themselves out, and they would keep their heads low for a few years. Perfect, right? Wrong. Onyx, who had enjoyed her small taste of control after many years, wanted more. She pressured Danny constantly, trying to take control. One day, Danny was just so tired from working and so mentally drained by Onyx that she slipped up again. Onyx quickly took control once more, leading Danny down an even darker path. She came back the next day, and told Rose in a panic that they would have to move again.

Rose was furious. They had just settled in. Danny, who was under so much stress and fear, began to argue back. Before she knew it, her emotions got the best of her again and Onyx would take every chance she could get.

It’s my fault!

Danny woke up some time later. The first thing that consumed her senses was the smell of blood.

No...

She knew that smell. Where was Rosalie?

This couldn’t be… I didn’t...

Danny didn’t want to believe it. As she looked at the bright red blood spattered on the walls, a bile rose in her throat, along with tears welling in her eyes.

No! NO!

There wasn’t even a body. Onyx-, No, Danny, had quite literally ripped the love of her life apart. She was so mad at herself. How could she have done this? She retched up the contents of her stomach she was crying so hard. Onyx was merciless. Danny begged for a break, no more torture, but Onyx didn’t care. She enjoyed the freedom of being able to be her own being, but much stronger than any full feline or full human.

Onyx went on yet another rampage, but this time, got too careless. The police got word of the nature of the killings less than a day ago, and knew exactly who it was. They cornered her and tranquilized her, taking her to a “secure place”.

I am weak...

It didn’t take very long for Danny to make a name for herself. She would cry and yowl in agony at night, like that of a baby tiger stolen from its mother. She was moved from one cell to another constantly. One night, she was dragged, screaming and kicking, from her third cell. She had been scratching at the wall concrete wall, so much so that the tips of her fingers began to bleed heavily. They had assumed that she was trying to escape, but once they looked upon the scratches on the wall, they appeared to create some sort of flower.

Another night she had to be restrained to a bed because she was cutting her arms open. She was sobbing about how the pain distracted her from the throbbing of her heart.

After a few months, her suicidal actions appeared to die down, but so did Danny. She was broken. She would sit in the corner of her cell, facing the wall. She wouldn’t eat, drink, or sleep. She wouldn’t go to any counseling they provided. They grew desperate. One day, a guard who had thought that “her pretty face shouldn’t go to waste” simply asked what she wanted. She responded with one word: Music.

The guard pulled a few strings, spoke with her psychologist and the warden of the prison, and she was given an iPod and a pair of headphones. They told her that every time she was good, they would reward her by letting her buy a new song. It was like a treat. A treat that a dog was given after it had sat on command.

A few more months, and Danny was doing much better. They monitored the songs she bought and how often they were played only in an attempt to understand her mysterious nature. There were a few songs she played repeatedly every day. She would stand up and dance with an invisible partner, one that seemed shorter than her. She also appeared to dance the masculine part opposed to the feminine part.

They taught her new skills, and whenever she cooperated, she was rewarded with a new song. She learned how to fight, to hone her strengthened senses, to shoot a gun, to seduce a man or a woman, etc. Once she heard of Project Redemption, she immediately requested to be put into it. She was looking for redemption, but the only way that would happen would be if she were free from this hell hole of a prison.

Anything else?
Danny’s fears are not simple dislikes. They are pure phobias. Thunderstorms make her want to curl up in a small dark space and cry. The thought of going to the doctor to get patched up makes her shake with fear, and she will literally do anything to get away from said doctor.

So begins...

"Can't believe this is what they expect us to work with." Elena said as she looked over the files again, speaking more to herself than to her fellow Overseer, Aleka. Of course, she was relieved that she had a chance to get off of a life sentence, but she thought they would give her more than this group of misfits. She was told that the first couple Metas that entered the project would be highly experimental, but this bordered on ridiculous. Elena sighed deeply, closing the files and sinking back into her chair.

"At least we're getting a former CIA agent. He might not be completely helpless. The boxer might be handle himself too. And at least the kids have all killed someone. I mean, even though most of them weren't on purpose it's good to know they're somewhat capable." She nodded slowly, trying to convince herself. She toyed with the black rosary wrapped around her right hand, seeking comfort in the dark prayer beads. A man wearing a suit and sunglasses silently drifted into the room. "They're beginning to arrive." He said, no recognizable emotion on his face. Elena sighed once more, getting out of her seat. She looked towards Aleka. "Let's get this show on the road."

Elena and Aleka were chosen as the first two Overseers charged with leading the Metas "fortunate enough" to be apart of Project Redemption. They had been at the Institute, a secret government base that even the president didn't know the location of, for about a month to prepare for the first batch of super powered hoodlums to arrive for training. They themselves had been extensively prepped and given every possible fact on their team. It almost worried Elena that most of her new squad members lacked any real training, but then she'd remind herself that there was a time that even she had no real skills. She'd also remind herself that if she couldn't make them a proper unit, all of them, including herself, would be killed in combat or sent back to their various prisons.

They reached what resembled a large empty warehouse where their new friends were waiting for them, each flanked by prison guards or soldiers. "Hello everyone." Elena greeted with a small pleasant smile. "I'm Elena Estrella and this lovely creature to my right is Aleka Bellacour. We'll be your Overseers for the time you're a participant in Project Redemption."She took several steps towards them, the sound of her expensive heels echoing across the room.

"If you don't know what that means, it means we're in the same boat as you and we'll be leading this merry band of Metas." Her rosary dangled from her fingers, making small circles as she spoke. "We've all been chosen to create a taskforce that will be assigned high risk missions considered too dangerous for the government's more valued agents." Elena could feel some of the guards and agents in the room tensed up. She could practically smell how uncomfortable the truth made them. "For the next several weeks, you will receive training like never before. We will push your physical and mental limits so that you won't die as soon as we're faced with conflict. Then we'll be reviewed by a board of high profile military personnel who will approve us to move forward or disband us and shut down the program altogether."She smiled at them, running her eyes over the five individuals in front of her. They were a rather good looking group. "Welcome to the A Team. And by the way, the A stands for Anonymous, because according to the government, we no longer exist." More tension. More anxiety. More guilt. Elena shook her head and her hand went to the back of her neck.

"Every member of this unit has had a small device implanted in the back of their neck. It will act as a tracker, a communicator, and also a powerful explosive. If you try to escape, disobey an order, or get captured, your head will be blown clean off. As far as I know, none of us will survive something like that. Not even you Tin Man." She winked at the broad tall man, whose size contrasted greatly with the rest of the taskforce. "Questions, anyone?"

The ride to the Institute had been a long, awkward, and silent ride for Paris. Not because he felt awkward or because he didn't feel comfortable talking, but because a something resembling a high tech metal muzzle was placed over his mouth. His eyes were shielded by a dark visor that he could barely see with. Almost every inch of his skin was covered by the horribly tacky orange plastic of his modified prison jumpsuit. He chuckled inwardly. His guards had really learned not to take any chances. Paris was somewhat surprised that he managed to seduce three guards before the prison started to take extra precautions.

'This is some bullshit.' he thought as they road along. If the visor and that monster of a prison uniform wasn't enough, he was riding with his favorite four guards to mess with and his muzzle prevented him from making a single snide comment. There was no witty banter or sexual innuendos to keep them all occupied until he arrived at the James Bond Training Center. Well, he knew it had another name, but that's what Paris called it.

They arrived and he was escorted into a large building, similar in appearance to some sort of warehouse where a big drug deal would go down. This was so freaking cool. He felt like one of those cop dramas on T.V. There was four other people in the room and all of them just happened to be extremely attractive. He smiled thinly behind the muzzle. This would be a fun time. There was an exotic looking young girl with what looked like a cat tail, a handsome boy around Paris' age, a very official thirty something year old man, and a large man who could probably snap someone in half. It made him giddy.

Two women walked in, the energy in the room instantly shifting. One of them came forward, obviously latin, and spoke with extreme confidence and honesty. Paris found it incredibly sexy. The other woman was grunge chic with glasses and dreadlocks. 'Beautiful'. he thought. What a selection of flavors for him to try. The latina, Elena, asked if there were any questions. Paris' handcuffed hands shot up as he jumped up and down, resembling a student eager to answer their teacher's question.

Elena looked at the guards. "Take off the muzzle." They reluctantly agreed, swiping an access key through the back of the slip of metal. He gasped, a large goofy smile on his face. "Thank God." He laughed, dramatically stretching his lips. "Did you have a question?" Elena asked, a suspicious gleam in her eyes telling Paris that she read his profile. "Yessum. I was wondering if I'd have to wear this shit all the time, because it sucks major balls." Elena laughed. "Paris, right? Aren't you the one who convinced a group of his guards to assault their commanding officer?" Paris grinned mischievously. "Assault is a very harsh way to put it. If we're gonna be a team, we have to trust each other, right?" "No." Elena said abruptly. "Take off his visor."

"Yesssss." Paris said, his already large grin somehow spreading.

The guards arrived precisely a 6:00am, and seemed quite surprised to find Max Hill awake and leaning on his door in anticipation. The first guard pulled out a set of keys and began unlocking the complex door that separated Max and potential freedom. Max took a step back and allowed the guards to enter. "Today's the day isn't it," Max said with a smirk on his face. "I told you guys there would come a day where i'd get out of here," he continued.

"Remember you have that chip in your head mate," said one of the guards as he handcuffed Max and escorted him down the hall. "Specially designed for you. Make any wrong decisions and boom," the guard made a gesture that resembled an explosion. Max shook his head, and followed suit. The ticking time bomb in his head didn't make him feel particularly well, but at least he was going to do something, anything would be better than letting his potential waste away in a prison cell.

Many hours later the car stopped outside what was now some secret government headquarters. Max looked up at the building and smiled. It reminded him of his time in the CIA, a time where he was useful, a time when he was in his prime. I wonder what goodies they have in-store for me? he thought.

His escorts lead him inside where met was met by a group of people who stood still and quiet. Max peered around the room. Starting from his left there was a young man with a quiz-able look on his face and rather long hair. Next was an attractive young woman. Wait are those ears? And a tail? Damn Max what are we getting into here? Max quickly glanced away, making sure the woman didn't notice him staring.

Besides the woman was a beast of a man. Finally some muscle, Max thought. Suddenly two more women entered the room. They were both rather young and very unofficial looking, especially the one with that awful hair style and the glasses. The latino woman began to speak. She spoke of how this group of "metas" were now a top secret government response team. In theory the idea was great, but. Max looked around the room again. These people really didn't seem like capable at all. Max sighed. Who knows maybe they'll surprise me.

"Questions, anyone?" asked Elena, the latino woman, who was also the "overseer." Max didn't like that. Why wasn't he chosen to lead this team? What was so special about her? Although he wanted to raise this question he stood by and listened. There was no point and disobeying his leader, at least not right away.

Jayce was first to arrive at the secret facility and had the pleasure of watching everyone else arrive. He wasn't told much of what was supposed to go down, but he was told that it was important. and that if he did well he would be set free. He kept the thought of freedom in his mind as he watched everyone enter. He was very surprised to see that it was mostly children, or teenagers, or something. He couldn't really tell. All he knew was that he was a lot older than the rest, except the quiet man who had just came in. He was at least an adult. Jayce shook his head and waited like he was ordered.

Not before long two women walked into the room. A geeky white chick and a smoking hot Latino. Jayce perked up as the Latino, who introduced herself as Elena began to speak.

"Every member of this unit has had a small device implanted in the back of their neck. It will act as a tracker, a communicator, and also a powerful explosive. If you try to escape, disobey an order, or get captured, your head will be blown clean off. As far as I know, none of us will survive something like that. Not even you Tin Man," said Elena before sending a wink towards Jayce.

That sent a shiver down his spine, which caused the skin on his back to phase for a quick second. He wanted to make it out of this thing alive, and he had to rely on these kids to get there. Not only that but if they fail they don't even get a second try? This was looking more like a suicide ploy than anything.

"Questions, anyone?" Elena asked. Jayce was about to speak up when a blind folded kid began to jump around. The kids name was Paris, and Jayce could already tell it wouldn't be long before he would want to sock the kid right in the face. Once Paris finished his show Jayce spoke up.

"Excuse me but we're supposed to be a kick-ass military force right? Then why the hell do I feel like I'm auditioning for a freaking Disney sitcom?" There was a chuckle from the other older man.

Elena smiled at Jayce. "Appearances can be deceiving, my friend." She began slowly pacing back and forth in front of the five. She stopped in front of Daniella, gesturing with an open palm to the feline girl. "Daniella here has killed at least forty-eight people that we can confirm. That's six times the kills you have under your belt, Mr. Striker." She pointed to Syd, her eyes still on Jayce. "This young man can destroy an entire building and put it back together with his mind. Paris over there could turn you into a mindless sex slave after a single staring contest." "Hell yeah I could!" He called out with a grin.

She walked over to the large man, looking up into his eyes with a challenging gleam. "On the end we have Max, the only one of you with government training. He was a CIA agent." Scales slowly began rising on her face, like a disturbing ripple disfiguring the surface of a beautiful pond. Her pupils became slits and fangs peaked out from the bottom of her top lip. As soon as her horrible serpentine form came, it flashed away, leaving her gorgeous once again. "Don't judge something by the way it looks at first, amigo."

She moved away from him, back to Aleka's side, a smirk dancing on her lips. "So, Mr. Striker, if this was a Disney sitcom, I'd honestly watch it every week." Elena was amused. This man thought that he was more fit than these children? He was an athlete, not a soldier. "When we go onto these missions, keep in mind we won't be fighting in a boxing ring. If I may put it bluntly, when it comes to what we're going to do, you're on equal footing with our youngest members."

{ “I’m one of those regular weird people.” }

Being woken up early in the morning can make anyone grumpy, nevermind a girl who’s part cat. These people don’t seem to understand that cats spend most of their time sleeping and lazing around. Not only did Danny barely get any sleep, but the moment she was awake they were pushing her against a wall, attaching a thick metal band around her neck like a collar. Connected to the collar, of course, was a rather thick chain. Danny couldn’t help but roll her eyes. They had explosives in her neck. Like she was going to try anything.

Danny asked the guard one quick, short question, and the moment he grunted as a yes, she walked forward and grabbed her headphones and the small iPod. She slipped the headphones on her head, her human ears covered but her cat ears sitting perfectly undisturbed. She selected a playlist, and as a Lily Allen song began to thrum in her ears, she turned back to the guards.

The moment she faced them, they asked her to put her hands out. She did so begrudgingly, knowing she’d probably get beaten if she didn’t. They placed these metal covers over her hands that prevented her from unclenching her fist or using her hands whatsoever. She was going to ask if this was all really necessary when they put a muzzle over her mouth. It didn’t stop her from talking; it was simply the kind that prevented her from being able to bite anyone. A sharp tug on the chain told her that it was time to leave. Her sharper glare remained locked on the guard as she walked forward and out of her cell.

The ride there was arguably one of the worst she has ever had. The containment part of the truck was stuffy already, never mind the extra three guards sitting back there with her. She hated the small space. Her jaw and fists were both clenched throughout the entire ride.

Once they entered the building, Danny’s gaze immediately began sweeping the room back and forth, taking in everything around her. She observed the recruits standing nearby, and the fact that most of them were men made her roll her eyes once more. When everyone had arrived, the two women standing in front of them introduced themselves as “Overseers”. Danny listened attentively to the latin woman’s whole spiel, her tail flicking back and forth behind her, displaying her interest. Her eyes kept darting over to the woman next to the woman who was talking. She intrigued her more that the one who was talking.

After the little speech, a few of the people around her asked a few questions. One of the younger males already annoyed her. She had always hated those that were too… boisterous. The extremely large man made a smart remark about the odd group around him. "Appearances can be deceiving, my friend. Daniella here has killed at least forty-eight people that we can confirm. That's six times the kills you have under your belt, Mr. Striker." She knew this wasn’t something that she should take pride in, but she couldn’t help but stand up a bit straighter.

As the woman turned into some sort of reptile before her eyes, Danny took note of that. She also made sure to remember the others’ powers as well. Every power has its weakness.

Once the snake lady was done putting the large man in his place, Danny cleared her throat. She attempted to raise her hand, but they were trapped together by the odd cuffs. “When can we take these things off?” She grumbled, her tail lashing back and forth and her ears twitching with irritation. She glanced over at the guard holding the chain, her steely stare making him stiffen slightly.

The truck rocked a bit on the seemingly endless ride to the unknown destination not much was known about this mysterious "special training" all Syd knew for sure was it was a way out and that's all he needed to know. Over his eyes was a blindfold that let no cracks to let light in no clue of what was going on around him, the cuffs around his wrists didn't help much either so Syd just sat in silence the entire ride there pondering what this whole program would be about and whether or not he had made the right decision. When he had finally changed his mind it was too late, they were already there so he tried to internally talk himself back into it as two guards ushered him out of the truck and removing the hand cuffs.

One of the guards leaned down as he was unlocking the cuffs and whispered in Syd's ear, [b]"no funny business or you can say goodnight." with his last few words he tapped something metal on the back of Syd's neck he immediately moved his hand back to feel it wondering what the guard was talking about. But before he could ask the blindfold was removed and Syd squinted, after so many years of being in total darkness and finally being able to see it felt like a miracle. Syd blinked a few times to get used to the light coming from a building just ahead of him a few seconds before he was pushed toward it. He looked around as much as he could drinking it all in before entering the warehouse when he entered he dropped his head seeing that there were already people here and he decided not to make eye contact with any of them keeping his head low and walking over standing just a few feet away from everyone else and keeping his hands by his sides.

He only looked up for a minute when two women one was very pretty wish dread locks and glasses and the other seamed strong and walked in command as they entered the room then put his head back down listening intently to one of the girls speak at the mention of the head explosives Syd's head shot up and his hand practically lept to the back of his neck finally understanding what the guard had meant. His eyes wide with fright it took him a few minutes to grasp the gravity of the situation, when he snapped back to reality his hand fell to his side head feeling a bit light people were now asking questions and he looked at their faces as they did so but only in quick glances.

First there was the outgoing kid who looked around his age and a bit cute too until the woman Elena said something about a sex slave and Syd shook his head hating people who could mess with your mind. The next was the big guy which Syd made a mental note to stay out of the way of him, next to him was a shorter but still older looking guy who was from the CIA? Damn, now Syd felt very under qualified for this job. Finally there was a girl with... was that a tail? Um.. ok yes, that is a tail there is a girl on the team with a tail. Great.

When Syd heard his name he looked up then back down hating what was being said about him though he knew it was true it didn't take away from the fact that he still hated what he could do. He had so many questions to ask like why they had to have the head explosives, why wasn't he told about it and was anyone going to talk about the elephant in the room in the form of a girls tail? All of these swirled around his head making him feel nauseous but he held them in not wanting to speak at all, not yet at least.

"Excuse me but we're supposed to be a kick-ass military force right?," started the tall man, Mr. Striker "Then why the hell do I feel like I'm auditioning for a freaking Disney sitcom?" Max nearly bust out laughing, but happened to only let out a chuckle. The man had a point, to some degree.

Max had spent a few months chasing down Metas all across the globe back in the day. He had a target once in Peru, a seventeen year old male, couldn't have been more than 120lbs, five-foot five. Seemingly nonthreatening in every sense, but the kid was deadly. He had to have been, you don't get on the CIA's list for popping bubbles. Max reminded himself to think in the same regards about everyone present. They may not look like much but they're here for a reason.

Elena Estrella walked around the room. As she passed Max he felt an eerie sensation. There was something strange about the woman, something evil. He raised his eyes and took a glance at the woman's face. Max swore he saw it twitch, shift, change for a slight moment into something reptile-like.

She went through the crowd, giving Striker a brief lesson on everyone's past. Apparently there were some heavy hitters in the room, he'd have to pay attention to everyone's capabilities. Luckily Elena didn't give away anything of his besides his old job. That comforted him a bit. In games like these it was best to remain a secret for as long as possible. Max knew it would be smarter to wait until everyone else showed their hand before revealing his.

Max looked about the room again. Everyone seemed to change after Elena spoke. They were serious, anxious, ready. And so was he. What types of missions would Washington not want to risk their won men for? Why bring in the enemies? What were they going after? Max took a deep breath and told himself that he would find out soon. He just needed to get through the introductory hand holding.

Suddenly Max felt a buzz. A jolt rang through his brain. He turned towards the guard behind Daniella. He had a phone, probably in his pocket. Max smiled and let his brain connect with the device and started searching.

Jayce watched as Elena responded, listening carefully as she spoke about the others. His first impressions were wrong. These kids were freaking deadly, and deadly freaks.

"When we go onto these missions, keep in mind we won't be fighting in a boxing ring. If I may put it bluntly, when it comes to what we're going to do, you're on equal footing with our youngest members." Hell was she right Jayce told himself. Jayce then nodded.

"Understood." he replied.

Aleka spun around in her chair slowly as her eyes skimmed over the files until she finished and got bored and just spun around slowly. "Can't believe this is what they expect us to work with." Elena spoke, Aleka's fellow Overseer. Aleka stayed quiet but her expression agreed with Elena, this group was going to be a handful. Alex was having second thoughts now, not about agreeing to be an overseer but playing nice with the men of the group as she was told too. When the government guy walked in Alex eyed him from the corner of her eye with a bit of hostility but didn't let him see it as she sighed and hopped off her chair.

Elena looked at her for a second "Let's get this show on the road." Alex nodded with the smallest reassuring smile on her lips, almost twisted into a devilish grin. "Let's" As soon as they reached the large empty warehouse, Alex paid no attention to the guards but quickly scanned over the group. "Hello everyone, I'm Elena Estrella and this lovely creature to my right is Aleka Bellacour. We'll be your Overseers for the time you're a participant in Project Redemption." snapped back to reality from the introduction Alex raised her hand slightly and gave a wave then crossed her arms as Elena took control of the Conversation.

Alex didn't mind really it actually took a weight off her shoulder and she had more time to look over her new members. She started with the smart mouthed one, Jayce striker. Oh how he already rubbed Alex the wrong way but his smart remark did earn a small smile from her when Elena began to school him, honestly she tried not to laugh but eventually a chuckle escaped her lips. Alex's gaze next fell on the young pretty boy, Paris. He seemed nice, deadly yes but nice enough to be on neutral grounds with her for now. Next was the CIA agent Max Hills, hell even his name sounded all freaking secret agent. Alex rolled her eyes slightly then on to the next one which happened to be a rather young tanned woman but to Alex's surprise she caught her glancing at her, Daniella was her name.

She held her eye contact for a split second before Alex noticed her ears and tail, that's when Alex's eyes lit up with curiosity. She sure was an interesting one. Last but not least Alex's gaze fell upon the young Syd, a painful ping was felt in her chest as she saw how much he resembled her brother. Oh how she misses her family so much and this boy just struck a chord in her that made her look away blinking rather fast to expel the tears forming in her eyes. 'Damn it Alex, get ahold of yourself' taking a deep breath, Alex turned her head back to the members and kept her head high. "When can we take these things off?" her attention was caught once more by Daniella's question. Alex bit her lip for a second after thinking about it then looked over at the guards and signaled them to take off any restraints the group had on them. " No need for restraints am I right Elena? I mean I think the explosives in them are enough to keep 'em at bay no?" Alex's accent was slightly present but she didn't care.

"No need for restraints am I right Elena? I mean I think the explosives in them are enough to keep 'em at bay no?"

Elena nodded in agreement. "Claro, claro. And boys," She looked towards the guards. "After you're done, you can take one of those rare coffee breaks and relax for a bit. We've got this handled." The guards did as she said, disappearing into the halls connecting to the warehouse. "Alright friends, let's get this party started." She walked towards Alex, placing her hand gently on the other woman's shoulder. "Hey Alex, how about we go around and each tell a little bit about ourselves?" She turned to the group, a smile on her face. "Let's get everything out in the open and let our new team mates what we're capable of." Admittedly, it was an unusual request for a starting band of secret agents, but people loved their secrets. A team, especially of individuals who had lived lives like theirs, couldn't trust people they didn't know. Elena used similar tactics when she first started training groups of mercenaries and hitmen and found that it helped the team dynamics. She looked at Max, who had remained quiet the whole time. She read his file, which had not painted a picture of a shy man. He must've been looking for an edge, waiting to show what he was capable of until everyone else had tipped their cards. "I'll start."

"As I said, my name is Elena Estella. I'm currently one hundred and thirty years old." She smiled. "My family ages well." She laughed shallowly before continuing. "I was arrested for running an international network of assassins and some say that I am...or was a prominent boss in the criminal underworld. I also owned a couple illegal brothels around the states, but it was mainly the killing for money that got me arrested. For a good portion of my life I was better known as La Conquista. My power set isn't the most interesting." She shifted fully, scales rippling over her body. "Basically, I'm half snake. I'm strong, I'm venomous, I'm flexible, and I can talk to snakes. Feel vibrations, flicking my tongue, and all that jazz." She smiled pleasantly, as if she had told them she liked apple empanadas and long walks on the beach. "Who's next? Spare no details! Alex and I have already read your files so we'll call you out if you've missed anything of value."

"Hey Alex, how about we go around and each tell a little bit about ourselves? Let's get everything out in the open and let our new team mates what we're capable of." A grin grew on Alex's face slowly until her fangs were peeking out. " Yes ma'am!" she responded rather pumped as she removed her long sleeved shirt so it won't get burnt. Underneath it she wore a tight black tank top that clung to her lightly toned abs. Alex watched as Elena introduced herself and bit her lip as she thought about what to say. "I was arrested for running an international network of assassins and some say that I am...or was a prominent boss in the criminal underworld. I also owned a couple illegal brothels around the states, but it was mainly the killing for money that got me arrested. For a good portion of my life I was better known as La Conquista. My power set isn't the most interesting." She watched everyone's expression as Elena changed right before their eyes with that same wide grin on her lips. "Basically, I'm half snake. I'm strong, I'm venomous, I'm flexible, and I can talk to snakes. Feel vibrations, flicking my tongue, and all that jazz."

"Who's next? Spare no details! Alex and I have already read your files so we'll call you out if you've missed anything of value." stepping up Alex opened her mouth to speak as she tied up her locks into a ponytail. " I guess I'll go next, Again as you all know by my lovely partner over there I'm Aleka Bellacour but please call me Alex. On the streets I was known as Vesta which means sacred fire in Latin. I was also known as the Daughter Of Dragons because of this." Alex sucked in some air before she blew out a small steady stream of flames out from her mouth. She closed her mouth and continued to talk making a small fire appear on her finger tips and playing around with it like a small ball on her fingertips. " I can create, manipulate and eat fire and I'm also fire proof. I was arrested for breaking a lot of things, Burning a lot of things, beating a lot of guys half to death but they deserved it and hacking into government files and selling information. They saw me as a threat to national security which I'm pretty honored actually but anyway they also suspected me for harboring a biological weapon. I mean now that's ridiculous, I'm a scientist yes but I'm not on that level yet." a smirk appeared back on her face as she bowed like an englishman and winked towards Danny. " Glad to be teaching you guys."

Just as soon a Max connected to the guards phone he left the room. Damnit Max thought. He hadn't been connected long enough to learn anything of real value, all he was able to gather was that the bastard was cheating on his wife. If Max was able to stay connected for at least another few seconds he would have sent the wife a message informing her of her husbands infidelity. What a shame

Elena continued talking, and Max had seen correctly. She was what Max called a Phaser, a person who could change the physiological aspects of their bodies into something different. It was a pretty common Meta ability, one that Max assumed a few in this room would have. There were already two, Elena and Daniella. "Who's next?" Elena asked. The room stood silent for a brief moment after Alex nearly singed the hair off his face, then Max took a step forward.

"I'm Max Hill, former CIA. I won't go into the boring details of my past, I'm sure you can guess what a CIA agent does. I have a peculiar set of powers." Max took a breath. SO much for letting everyone else go first. "I can control technology, my brains basically a super computer. It may not seem like much at first but get me within 100 feet of the President, Pentagon, or Silo and I can launch our nukes anywhere I choose." He paused again, watching the reactions. "My second ability allows me to manipulate photons into any shape or density of matter you can imagine."

Image

Max Hill seemed like a serious man. Tactical, evocative, and cocky. His power set was quite interesting and could become very useful. Jayce would have to make sure to become friends with him, that super computer might come in handy at some point. After Max spoke Elena have a quick remark and looked around the room for another volunteer. Jayce decided that he should get on better terms with the team leader so he puffed out his chest and spoke.

"Hey everyone. I'm Jayce Striker, former US boxing champion from Chicago. If you've seen the news a few years back then you probably know what I do." Max scrunched his eyes and let his body change. Suddenly his skin shined like chrome, his muscles became small fibers of a metal alloy Jayce still couldn't understand. After a few seconds he returned to normal. "I'm basically a tank with large biceps. I'll probably be taking most of the shots for you guys." Jayce nodded and let out a small smile. "That's all I guess."

{ “Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye.” }

This was the part where Danny began to pay even more attention to what was going on. The woman named Elena’s powers seemed rather similar to her own in the sense that she’s also part animal. But something caught her eye while she was showing off her snake-y abilities. The woman, named Aleka, has just taken her shirt off, leaving her in a tight black tank top.

Danny watched, even more entranced, as this Aleka, now Alex, showed off her fire abilities. She wasn’t sure when she started, but Danny started making a deep, quiet grumbling sound in her throat. Her tail swayed this way and that, showing her increasing amount of interest. Danny paused as Alex looked at her and winked. She froze, her body tensing, and felt a bit of warmth flooding her cheeks.

As she stood there, utterly shocked and frozen, Danny tried to scrape up the little amount of dignity she had. She continued to try to pay attention to the others, but was failing rather miserably. Once the two larger males introduced themselves, Danny stepped forward and cleared her throat.

“My name is Daniella Lynx, but please, call me Danny. If you couldn’t tell…” She walked slowly in front of the group so she was on the other end of the line of recruits. Her tail moved behind her, her ears flicking slightly as she stopped and turned to face the Elena and Alex in front of her. She made eye contact with Alex as she spoke. “... I happen to be part feline. Panthera pardus, black panther, to be specific. I can’t exactly demonstrate my abilities, but I can tell you that I have already memorized all of your individual scents.”

Danny shrugged. “There are a lot of things I can do…” She held out her hands as inch long claws grew from each finger tip. She opened her mouth as her canines elongated so much so that they poked out from underneath her upper lip. “My claws are about as hard as diamonds. I use them as, well, weapons. I can also use them to climb walls and stick to ceilings.” She resheathed them, blinking slowly. “I can run fast and am very strong. The only person in this room I couldn’t beat in an arm wrestling match is Tin Man over here.” She nodded towards him. “For the past few months I’ve been training in martial arts and different forms of fighting.” She shrugged as if she didn’t know how to kill a man within seconds in dozens of ways. “I can see in the dark and my hearing is actually my strongest sense, opposed to sight.” Her ears twitched once more. “I can tell you that the guard who was keeping me on a leash,” she grimaced, “appeared to be having some heart problems he should probably get checked out.”

Danny lowered her gaze to the ground once more. “Well, there isn’t really much else for me to say. Hmm… I can do this.” She widened her stance slightly, shut her eyes, tilted her head up, and let out a sharp, loud snarl that sounded exactly like one that a big cat would produce. The sound echoed throughout the empty warehouse. She shut her mouth and stared back at Alex, tilting her head to the side ever so. “That can be very helpful when attempting to intimidate someone who is not so easily intimidated.” Her eyes flashed a golden yellow momentarily and she blinked, showing an innocent facial expression.

Paris jaw slightly dropped, partly amazed and partly intimidated by his new team mates. He was really intimidated by the fact the could probably all kill him (well that intimidated him tremendously), but more so because it made him seem so much less special than he was. No one could actually see what his powers could do. He didn't change into some kind of snake demon when was entrancing someone or into a robot cyborg thing when he was reading minds. He wasn't afraid to admit to himself that he was kind of jealous. He wished that his eyes turned pink or something extraordinary happened to make him appear more godly when he used his abilities. Maybe he could talk to some of the doctors here and see if they could do some kind of meta-plastic surgery. Yeah, he'd do something like that. That could work.

The cat girl went, her roar still reverberating off the walls and Paris saw an opportunity. He stepped forward, a pleasant grin on his face. "Hi everybody. I'm Paris Malum, nice to meet you all. My power is transforming into a reptilian robot panther, so this is kind of awkward. I sorta feel like we all wore the same dress to a party." He shifted his weight to his other foot, scratching the back of his head. "I was arrested for eating a class of kindergarteners." Elena coughed and gave him a stank eye. He shook his head and laughed under his breath.

"Fine, fine. My real powers include something called Enchanted Allure, creating illusions, and telepathy. It basically means I can make people do what I want, fuck with their heads, and dig around and see what's going on in there. I can suck the life out of people too. I'm also really good at giving head, so just putting that out there." He thought for a second, bouncing slightly as he pondered what else to tell. "I didn't actually commit any crimes myself, but I've accidently driven a lot of people crazy in my time. It's never on purpose, but sometimes shit just happens. Ooh, my doctors diagnosed me with Histrionic Personality Disorder, so that's fun and right now I'm willing to put money that Feline Wonder and Grunge Spice over here are going to hook up in the first three weeks." He smiled a happy innocent smile and stepped back into line.

As the group of individuals introduced themselves Syd instead of becoming afraid he chose to close the gap between him and the group, found himself inching closer to the group not becoming fearful but feeling at ease that he wasn't the only one that had something potentially dangerous about them. With each person that told who they were and what they could do the more relaxed he became until everyone had finished and eyes were moving toward him making Syd feel uncomfortably hot. "Oh.. um.... hi my name is Syd... um Oswald, and like what Elena said before I can destroy objects and manipulate the broken pieces and uhh...."

Syd looked over at Elena wondering if he had to demonstrate his powers remembering that he had only used it twice in his life and he didn't like the bitter feeling in his stomach when he let himself use his strange ability. He glanced over at the guards standing around and shifted from foot to foot wondering if even a demonstration of his powers would be enough to get his head blown off.

However not wanting to show weakness in the event that he became the punching bag of the group he chose not to show how small he felt the first day. So instead he looked over at a crumbling rock formation off to the side. There was a click in his mind that turned on his gift this was a safety precaution that he had put on himself suppressing that part of him that could do what he was about to demonstrate.

The next thing that happened was Syd lifted his hand in a fist palm side down focusing on one of the larger of the crumbling rocks. When he was about ready he took in a deep breath before opening his fist splaying his fingers outward in a sudden burst the rocks broke apart unfortunately the blast was more that Syd had intended and a chunk of rock came flying towards Elena's head. Acting quickly Syd moved his left hand to stop it seconds before it hit, the rock was only an inch wide on all sides but it was centimeters from her face.

Syd's eyes were wide in fear and shock and his mouth had dropped open slightly, hand still outstretched holding the rock in midair. Somewhat unsure of what to do he moved his hand tossing the rock away stammering, "I, uhh.... I mean...... umm... I didn't mean to." It was all he could get out he felt embarrassed and ashamed that he didn't have better control over his abilities like everyone else as he realized a bit too late that maybe a demonstration was a bad idea. No shit.

Alex kept Daniella's eye contact the whole time she spoke and when that roar came out of her mouth she was amazed. Alex thought it was totally brilliant a perfect way to intimidate someone. “That can be very helpful when attempting to intimidate someone who is not so easily intimidated.” and boy was she right, Alex did feel a bit intimidated and more so when the woman's eyes flashed a beautiful yellowish gold color.

When Paris was up next Alex couldn't help but to chuckle at the boys antics. When he began to speak about his powers though her attention was caught. It was kind of scary thinking about how someone can mess with your head like that. "I didn't actually commit any crimes myself, but I've accidently driven a lot of people crazy in my time. It's never on purpose, but sometimes shit just happens. Ooh, my doctors diagnosed me with Histrionic Personality Disorder, so that's fun and right now I'm willing to put money that Feline Wonder and Grunge Spice over here are going to hook up in the first three weeks." with that last sentence a small smirk grew on Alex's face as she looked to the side a temporary hiding her flushed face before she looked back at Paris and spoke. " I'll put 10 bucks on that bet." she said jokingly with her arms crossed.

Finally the last one came up, Syd and he may have reminded Alex of her brother in looks but not personality. "Oh.. um.... hi my name is Syd... um Oswald, and like what Elena said before I can destroy objects and manipulate the broken pieces and uhh...." Alex watched as he spoke, he was quiet and shy not like her brother who was the life of the party and just loud period. She watched as the young man made some movements with his hands and a crumbling noise was heard and before she knew it Elena almost got hit with a piece of rock that was floating mid air because Syd had stopped it. "I, uhh.... I mean...... umm... I didn't mean to." Alex gave a look to Elena to make sure she was okay before she turned back to side. " It's alright, nobody got hurt and plus thats why me and Elena are here, to train and teach you how to use your powers."

Even with her superhuman reflexes, Elena couldn't have moved in time to dodge the debris flying towards her. She managed to close her eyes and cover her face with scales, which would have provided at least some protection from the rock. She slowly opened her eyes after the projectile still hadn't made contact with her face and sighed in relief after she realized that she was safe. It wouldn't have killed her, she had lived long enough to know that, but head trauma was always a bitch to heal quickly. "It's really fine, Syd. I'm okay. We all slip up from time to time." She smiled at him, feeling a pang of sorrow in her stomach as she looked at his guilty eyes. He was so innocent. Someone like him didn't belong in here. She straightened her spine, ready to address the group again. He may have not belonged in there, but at this point it didn't matter. They all had to buckle up and do what they had to do.

"Alright friends" Elena started. "As Syd just demonstrated, some of us can't confidently use our abilities and that's fine. Others can. As a team, it's important that we recognize this and help each other out." She toyed with the rosary, it's familiar form still in her hand. "After all, we're each other's tickets out of here. For the next couple weeks we'll be training for intense combat situations, as well as various skills that will help on our missions." She ran her eyes over the group. They were quite the misfit bunch. "Now that we're all enlightened about our fellow team mates, how about we get to some action? Follow me, kiddies." She walked, gesturing for the team to follow her as she walked across the warehouse floor and went around the corner. There was a red door that she pushed open, revealing dark room. "It may not look like anything right now, but Alex and I had a good time playing around in here." She grinned at her fellow Overseer as she walked into the center of the room.

"Training room?" she said loudly, as if she was speaking to the air. "Yes?" A feminine synthetic voice asked. "How may I help?" "Sparring. Seven People. Let's go with a tranquil forest in autumn for the setting." "Running your request through now. I'll see what I can do." Elena looked over to her team with a smile on her face. "You guys are gonna flip. This is crazy." With a bright flash, the dark room changed and shifted, until all of a sudden they were outside in a wooded area, red leaves covering the floor. Elena smiled as she spun around. "Alright, we're going to break into pairs and see how you guys hold up against each other. Don't go too easy on each other, we have meta-medics near so let each other have it. I want to see Jayce with Syd, Paris with Max, and Alex would you mind jumping in and going a round with Daniella?" Elena knew what she was doing, as was indicated by the slight smirk tugging at her lips. "Alright, everyone, get to it. We'll go three rounds, I'll tell you when the round ends, and we'll switch partners every round. After, you'll each go a round with me." She laughed, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "First round starts in 3..2..1..GO!"

{ “I’m always up for a game of cat and mouse.” }

Danny stood there, both in complete awe and suppressing her urge to fangirl, as the entire room changed its appearance. Holy shit! This is amazing. Its just like Professor X’s training room… She touched one of the trees, smiling widely. Her ears twitched as she heard Elena begin to speak again.

“I want to see Jayce with Syd, Paris with Max, and Alex would you mind jumping in and going a round with Daniella?”

Danny couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Great. This is going to be just like high school again… Not to say Danny wasn’t unhappy with her partner. She wanted to get to know Alex a bit more anyways, but now she had to find ways to get back at both Paris and Elena for their snide comments.

"First round starts in 3..2..1..GO!"

It was as if a buzzer went off in Danny’s head, she took two large steps backwards away from Alex, keeping eye contact with her. It was time for her to show off just how many advantages she would have. “I guess I’ll play defensive.” Danny flashed a toothy smirk. “Catch me if you can!” And with that, Danny turned on her heel and sprinted in the other direction. She knew Alex would have to give chase, but the other girl didn’t stand a chance against Danny’s enhanced speed. Suddenly, a voice rang out in her mind, making Danny’s entire being tense.

Step on the roots. Your steps will be larger and slightly slower, but you will create very little sound.

Danny had forgotten about the massive amount of dead leaves on the ground. The entire forest could probably hear her stomping away. If Alex was still keeping up, it was most likes on hearing alone. Danny was like a blur as she bobbed and weaved through the thick tree trunks.

She cannot see you right now. Up.

Without a second thought, Danny turned sharply and darted up a tree, her claw unsheathing to give her more traction. She stopped when she was high above the forest floor, her brown jacket and dark pants helping her to blend in with her surroundings. Danny easily jumped from tree to tree, making sure to avoid the leaves that would create quite a bit of noise. She kept going until she spotted Alex again.

Danny’s entire form was hidden by the leaves and branches of the tree. Lowering herself onto the ground, she remained hidden and began to execute her master plan. Danny “placed sounds” exactly where she wanted to. She would snap a twig in one place, dart silently to another place, and then step on some leaves. She would occasionally let out a taunting growl, which would echo in every direction.

Danny was making it seem as if she was everywhere around Alex. She was trying to confuse her and get her frustrated. She retreated back up into a tree and hid, watching the girl below her closely and, quite literally, like a predator stalking its prey.
