【Be On The Lookout For...】
“Please don't stare at my scars...”

Image

☞Height☜
5'0"

☞Weight☜
108lbs

☞Eye Color☜
Brown

☞Hair☜
A mane of raven cascades down her back in soft waves and ringlets, framing a round, pale face.

☞Body Type☜
It isn't a well known fact, but the girl has serious muscles. Not in a manly way, but in a way that would surprise people. She's a not busty, but she's bigger than Cataleia.

☞Special Markings☜
Her flesh bares only one tattoo, found on the back of her neck - It is a bar code, given to her when Stryker found out what she was. Other than that, the only distinguishing marks she has are the scars on her forearms and neck side that come from three years of constant injections. Her back and arms are littered with scars from what looks to be where whips tore into her flesh, and as such she often wears gloves that extend to her elbows and never wears anything that might expose her back.

☞Extras☜
Her canines are similar to a dog's, like her father's.

【Behind The Mechanics】
“You wouldn't like it inside my head...”

Image

☞Likes☜
ImageHer father and brother.
They're the only blood-related family that's ever been there for her. They went to go see her mother once and try to work out them being a family unit, but she was far too set into her party-girl ways. She had absolutely no intentions of settling down and laughed in surprise when she found out that her daughter had actually lived. Needless to say, her father and brother lost their tempers and killed her. Orquidea has always stuck to them like glue except of course when she takes off for the circus. And when either of them leaves the school, she leaves the school.

ImageMechanic/Handyman work.
She normally hates touching things to get a glimpse of their past, but when it comes to tech and vehicles, she loves to see the full history behind them. She even uses it to her advantage to try and fix them. Knowing what went wrong with something helps her a lot so she doesn't have to spend forever trying to figure it out, giving her more time to come up with a solution. Working on vehicles in her past time is one of her more favored activities. She can often be found next to certain vehicles, writing down their story.

ImageWriting.
Orfelina loves old fashioned longhand writing. Within her possession are numerous poems, songs, and stories written by her derived from what she has seen and felt over the years. She has a shelf in her room dedicated to them - Though she has a safe in her room that she keeps her personal writings in, for fear of others reading about her darker side, her hatred for humans, and her twisted thoughts or her love letters never sent.

ImageHer Godfathers.
Remy LeBeau, Kurt Wagner, Steve Rogers, and Henry McCoy. She enjoys Remy's outgoing personality and his knowledge and respect for the Tarots, often reading his cards for him. Kurt has a calming presence and she enjoys learning gymnastics from him as well as reading with him. Steve is an old war friend of her father's from WWII. Lina likes his sense of justice and his old fashion ways. She admires that he clings to his traditions and hasn't let the new world taint him. Henry was always very nice and understanding and she often went to him with a problem when she knew her father and brother would do something drastic.

ImageTarot cards.
She was often deemed as a walking cliche gypsy - Italian girl with tarot cards and a seemingly free spirit. But she didn't care. Even though she doesn't need tarot cards to see the past, present, and future of people, she prefers them because they don't come with all of the emotional overload that her powers bring.

ImageSinging.
Not in front of people, of course, but she likes to sing alone outside. She can be found walking around the forest, the lake, or the labyrinth singing. Though, her singing voice is much more powerful that her speaking voice so people never make the connection.

ImageSociology and Psychology.
They are subjects that fascinates her and allows her to better understand people without having to speak to them. She loves being able to get inside people's heads and understand where they're coming from and why they do things.

☞Dislikes☜
ImageHumans.
She won't say so, but she can't stand humans. She harbors a deeper hatred for them than anyone could ever imagine. Of course, she would never let it show or say so, but there have been times when it has slipped up some. When it comes to dealing with humans, she can actually be really brutal.

ImageLoud, obnoxious people.
She enjoys serenity and quiet. When people talk loudly for no apparent reason, she will simply request their silence or leave. Typical Lina, of course. Though, she will blow up if her stress level is high. Which...actually seems to be a bit more often as of lately.

ImageBullies.
She's put up with them her entire life and now refuses to be pushed over any longer.

ImageSnobs.
Anyone who thinks themselves above others because of more wealth or looks will not earn her favor. She's been at the mercy of the wealthy and beautiful snobs far too many times to have any sort of kindness in her heart for them.

ImageHuman Government, Politicians, and Law Enforcement.
Since her childhood, she has never trusted the government because it was because of them Stryker did all that he did. He had secret funding to experiment on whomever he wished. She dislikes politicians because of how they portray mutants to be, going so far as to disgustingly slander the most honest of mutant politicians and have them turned against. Law enforcement makes her want to hurl when she watches the way they treat mutants. As far as she is concerned, its the '40s all over again and mutants are the new blacks.

ImageChemical Labs.
She has a pathological fear of them that stems from her early childhood memories of constantly being injected and force fed various chemical concoctions while under Stryker's care and then some more while at Xavier's to try and flush out what Stryker had put in.

☞Habits☜
Orfelina is constantly shuffling her Tarot cards and always has them with her. She has a need to keep her hands on something, so if not shuffling her Tarots, her hands are in her pockets, playing with her hair, or wringing her hands together. She also has a habit of wearing a toolbelt wherever she goes, always ready to fix something that's broken.

☞Fears☜

☞Aspirations☜

☞Secrets☜

☞Disabilities☜
Orfelina has a slight case of paranoia when in public, constantly looking around her, ready to defend herself against someone who might jump out to capture her and drag her back to Alkali Lake. She also has a stress-induced anxiety disorder which has often lead her to cutting herself.

☞Personality☜
Since she was young, Orfelina had always been shy. There were only a handful of people she truly opened up to besides her brother and father. She's had a connection with Remy, Joe, Kurt, and Cataleia. She generally stayed away from others unless she was called upon. Over the years, she did open up a little bit more to those around her and found that she had an aptitude for teaching. She would often tutor kids whenever she had the free time and was in a decent mood. Whenever she wasn't tutoring, she could be found tending vehicles with her father, doing gymnastics with Kurt, or playing cards with Remy. Ofelina is a bit sensitive, though she would never let anybody see her cry. When teased, she simply clenches her jaw and continues on until she can get away to a place on her own where she will often cry or simply tell someone about her offender.

She really is a kind girl, even though one would take a look at her working under the hood of a truck wearing ripped jeans and a tight shirt and expect her to be a tough girl. There are rare times when she will express anger, though when she does she is rather brutal about it. She has shown to be perpetually calm so long as Beauregard is in her presence, even with a human making verbal attacks. When physically attacked, she will use her gymnastic skills to evade and put herself in a position to place her fingertips upon them.

☞Mutation☜
Chronovision, Enhanced Brain Capacity, Peak Human Condition, Rapid Self-Healing, Animalistic Senses.

☞Mutation Capabilities☜
Like the Tarot Cards she carries, Orfelina can see into the past, present, and future. This has proven to contribute to her sensitive and empathetic personality. By placing her left palm(bare) on an object or person, she is able to see in only a matter of moments everything that has happened to them from start to finish. By placing her right palm(bare) on someone, she can relay what she sees from other things and people to their mind. Anyone holding hands with said person will see what they see and so on and so forth, allowing her to relay to several people at once. Using her fingertips rather than palms will relay her life, rather than that of another. As far as her ability to see the present, such is a form of astral projection. By focusing on a single person, she has the ability to see exactly where they are and what they are doing as though she were right there. The farther away the person is, the shorter amount of time she can do this. Her presence will not be detected because she is not intruding into their mind. As far as her ability to to see into the future, that is not always something that she can control. She can trigger it by grasping someone with both hands at once. Though there are times when visions simply come to her, causing her to enter a trance until the vision has passed. Her enhanced brain capacity came from an X-Gene that Stryker injected her with and found that it actually integrated to her perfectly, allowing her to store more information and boosting her memory. (Father's abilities will come later into the story)

☞Weaknesses☜

【A Glimpse Into The Past...】
“I don't want to talk about it...”

Image

☞History☜
Orfelina was born as a product of a one-night stand at a party. Her mother was an Italian mutant that had come to America in search of a good party and great sex. One of her more frequented partners was a man by name of James Howlett. When she was born, her mother had made the decision that she didn't want the child and decided to leave the newborn in a ditch on a stormy night. It was by fate's hand that a young William Stryker had found her. He had no idea that she was a mutant, taking her in. He had recently taken the life of his own son and thought that maybe this baby girl could make up for that loss, thinking she had been sent by God. But that wouldn't last for long because when she was but a few months old, her mutation began to manifest. After brushing her hands against him, grabbing onto him, she saw his past. At first, he was confused, thinking that it was just a flashback. But noticing that she was crying and refusing to touch him, he realized that she had invoked such memories.

Shortly after that, Stryker was torn between what to do. Should he kill her or use her for his experiments? Experimenting won out and she was no longer allowed to live in the home with Stryker, instead being kept in his lab underneath Alkali Lake. She was injected daily with a number of things – She was also injected with a few separate X-Genes, but showed no signs of adopting the powers. She was like her father in that way, able to reject foreign substance from her body such as the various viruses she had been injected with. It wasn't until she was three years old that she had a hope of salvation when her 'father' returned with a number of students from a place called Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Orfelina had often heard Stryker talking about the horrors of that place. Stryker would daily tell her that mutants were abominations that had no place in this world and it was her duty to help God's human children find a way to kill them. With this, he hoped to instill within her a fear of mutants as well as a hatred of herself. But it did the opposite. Every passing day, her hatred for humans grew stronger which would begin to show when she got older. As the students said, salvation did come in the form of a twelve-man team dressed in black. Orfelina as well as three others who weren't with Xavier's were rescued. The three others had been kidnapped from loving families and were returned. Orfelina had nowhere. She felt a draw to the one that they called Wolverine and clung to him like lint to a belly button.

The man seemed to be taken by the little girl and decided to take her under his wing after being unable to keep her away. When she was four years old, he had already gotten used to her presence and didn't seem to mind – He would often tell her that she reminded him of a girl he once knew. Little did he know that the girl he once knew was her mother; And he was the father. This was discovered shortly after Orfelina found out that James had no recollection of most of his life. She decided to return it to him using her powers. She had pressed her entire hand, fingertips and all against his face, causing his memory to return as well as transferring not just her memory, but everything about her starting at conception. After that, he was more protective of her than he had ever been. From then on out, he did all that he could to ensure that she would be able to get by in life. Orfelina was trained in marksmanship, boxing, mechanics/engineering, and acrobatics.

Like virtually everyone else, her first friend was the outgoing Cataleia. When she turned eight, she began to run away for months at a time; sometimes with her father, sometimes with her brother, and other times with the carnival to be a fortune teller. This, of course, often got her picked on. Around the age of sixteen, she began to date Markus Wagner after he claimed that she brought out his good side. That lasted for a year when she found out that he had been cheating on her and bragging about it the entire time. This lead her into further distrusting people in general, especially men. Though the only men she could never distrust were her father, Uncle Remy, Uncle Kurt, Uncle Steve, Uncle Hank, Javier, and Caelan.

By the time she was nineteen, she had committed ninety-eight off-duty human murders. Of course, she never told a single person though her father and brother suspected. They wouldn't say anything about it, knowing that she was smart enough not to leave behind a trace; she would settle things how she wished to settle them. While most everyone else had gone off to college, Orfelina simply took a road trip for a year and a half, building up her vehicular collection and worked in tandem with Tony Stark to modify her vehicles. The moment M-Day occurred, she left for a week to dole out punishment to any humans she could find, trying to rescue as many mutants as she could; her murder count increased to one-hundred and forty-seven. She then returned to Xavier's as though nothing had happened.

It was around the time of year that more mutants would come to Xavier’s and learn to control their power at the hands of a colorful variety of professors and various staff members. As Cataleia peeked out from behind the velvet auditorium curtains, she almost cried. Taking a deep breath, the woman checked her iPhone. It was almost four-thirty PM. She should begin her announcement. Slowly, she took a deep breath and summoned all of her courage and will power to walk across the stage with a bright smile. There was a round of applause and some cheers as she stepped up to the center of the stage; where there was no podium or microphone.

The woman who was glowing an array of colored lights parted her lips to speak, but was interrupted by a number of catcalls and wolf-whistles among a few comments; Cataleia was a rather beautiful woman; Her hair was jet black, cascading in thick curls down just behind her knees after years of only trimming dead ends. Her figure was to die for, as it showed in the outfit of choice for the occasion – A black body suit that showed ample cleavage and hugged every curve of her body, matching the heeled black boots that she wore, all made from unstable molecules - Much thanks to Reed Richards.

Cataleia almost always dressed in jaw-dropping clothes. But this was her uniform – She had only just gotten back from a meeting on board the UNN Alpha and didn’t have much time to change. Removing the smile from her face, she cleared her throat. “Welcome. Welcome one and all to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Although, most of the world likes to call it Mutant High.” She smiled at the soft laughs as she tried to lighten the tension in the air. “You are all here for a few reasons. One and most importantly
Is because you’re special. Gifted. Unique. You were blessed with amazing powers like so many others once were. And two
Is because most humans can’t recognize that. Don’t ever believe that you’re an abomination. That’s ignorance and stupidity. That is fear talking! People fear mutants because some abuse their powers. They hate the many for the actions of few. But do they hate their fellow humans? How many human rapists and murders are there that get off better than a mutant who robbed a bank?”

She was getting worked up now, her Hispanic voice tone growing a bit more powerful with each word, and so was the crowd. “I don’t like being in hiding. But we have to be the bigger people. We must wait. You are safe within these walls! Myself and every other member of the X-Men and anyone on my staff will die for any mutant that we can save. Those humans think us a dying people. But we won’t die. We won’t let them destroy us. Even if they did, more would come. Were we not humans once? What makes them think that they are safe from their own hidden genes? Yes. Mutations have vanished all of a sudden
But genes
they don’t just disappear. It is my theory that they have only recessed for a while. They will be back!” The crowd roared in approval.

“We will wait here. We will carry out normal lives here. We will show them that we are here to stay. Mutant and proud, we are the Children of the Atom! We are Homo Sapien Superior! Mutant and proud!” The crowd jumped to their feet, clapping, whistling, crying out and roaring in approval as she stood there with a smile on her face. “Thank you
” She held up a hand, motioning the crowd to hush. “Don't think that this crisis will get some of you out of school - We have your records and if you haven't finished school, you will do so here with some of the world's brightest minds as your instructors. And we will teach you
to control your powers and to fight with and without them. As of now, you are Apprentice X-Men. Each and every one of you. Because as of August 26th, 2012, the humans declared war. And with our numbers so low compared to theirs, we need every able bodied person. But I warn you
If you use your powers for malicious intent, your training will end.”

She grew serious, narrowing her eyes at that remark but soon returned to smiling. The entire time she had been speaking, not a single microphone of any kind was to be seen, though her voice was heard loud and clear. “But, for now. You must get acquainted with your new home and your new family. If you would all please retire to the lobby.” People had been there for a while, but hardly anybody interacted with each other and instead moped in whatever room they locked themselves in. Hell! Schedules hadn't even been made, maps weren't handed out. People just...hung around.

As far as the whole situation was co.concerned, Cataleia herself had decided that they would not openly wage war, but instead remain civil and continue on life as normally as possible. Not everyone was happy with the decision but there was no changing her mind. “You will get maps of the estate and room assignments and dinner is ready in the lobby as well.” The lobby was set up in a way to give the feel of a formal gathering, with a nice dinner buffet and soft music. She watched in silence as the seated crowd left, headed to the lobby. She exhaled slowly and turned around, left with her colleagues. “Well. Time for the meet and greet.” She put on a dazzling smile, showing no hint of stress before hopping off the stage and heading after the others.

Z alika had long since been ready, but she didn’t show her face until last minute. Dressed in the same uniform as Cataleia, even wearing her long, snowy hair down, she snuck onstage just as her friend’s speech began. The lightest of smirks danced across her face throughout the speech – Kitty didn’t speak very many words, but the ones spoken were indeed powerful. It showed through the positive reactions in the crowd. Though, Zee did frown as the X-Men were madeknown. The X-Men were once a secret covert ops team. Zalika only knew about them at a young age because of her mother’s affiliation with the team. But most students could go a while without knowing and they certainly weren’t put through training for it without some sort of assessment. Zalika had spent so much of her life training to perfection just to try out for the team and now people were just tossed onto the team! But
she did understand that they were low in numbers and they had to take what they could get. The X-Men would soon become an army if things escalated any further. Not that she had any such qualms with an army. The humans had several of their own, so why shouldn’t they? The mutant known as Tempest to many didn’t hate humans, per se. To many, it seemed she hated generally everyone. But those close to her knew better.

Zalika couldn’t stand the blindness of the humans, though she herself didn’t see humans or mutants as any different other than a single different gene. But according to Professor Xavier
they all had that gene. And Kitty was right
Many of them were human once
Why do so many humans think themselves exempt? Oh
right. They were protected by the grace of God. She shook her head at her thoughts. Where she came from
Wakanda
Such mutations weren’t mutations - They weren't demon powers. They were viewed as gifts from Bast. Though, those who used their powers for unsavory actions were thought to have been gifted by Sekhmet. Zalika shivered at the mere thought of the Lion Goddess – She had once nearly lost her life to that vile Goddess. Zalika herself thanked Bast and her mother for such gifts, and was rather dismayed that her mother had been among the many that had been depowered during the event that everyone had come to call M-Day. But, as Cataleia said: Mutations don’t just disappear. Orfelina agreed; and if anyone knew about mutations, it was the little gypsy. Zalika snapped out of her thoughts, hearing Cataleia address them.

She almost snarled at the idea of a meet and greet, her lips pulling back to reveal recently filed canines. She had all four of them done, deciding recently to complete her feline appearance. Her eyes were the beginning of this, though she was born with those. As of lately, she had been working a lot on her agility and flexibility. She had been seen lately with a pair of panther ears and a tail to match. Most of her friends assumed that it was another ritual to Bast, and they weren’t wrong. She was showing her dedication for Bast, requesting to be blessed with the abilities of the felines that she loved so much.

Sighing, Zalika followed suit of Cataleia, glancing behind her at a young girl who didn’t look any older than seventeen or eighteen. The girl was staring off into space, shuffling a deck of tarot cards. Shaking her head at the absent-minded young woman, Zee moved lethargically down the aisles and slipped past the doors, leaving them wide open. Once in the presence of others, she almost cringed at the sound of them all talking at once. Once upon a time, in her earlier childhood, Zee would have been bubbly and happy to assist. But now, she just wanted to go back to her attic.

Throughout the whole of Cataleia’s speech, there was a young woman on the far end of the line of people, staring off into space with bright chocolate-colored eyes. Her hair was a mirror of Kitty’s, though hers had been pulled up into a pony tail and had streaks of red. Unlike the others in uniform or professional ‘teacher’ wear, she was wearing a yellow and purple and a pair of baggy jeans that had holes in them. Her jeans, shirt, face, and arms were smeared in grease and her arms had plenty of cuts and scrapes among scars. Upon her hands were a pair of black gloves. About her waist, she wore a tool belt that was filled with a variety of everyday tools and a few other high-tech ones. Her figure wasn’t nearly as flattering as any of the other women on stage with her, being of athletic build. It looked as though she were only just now hitting puberty. Orfelina stayed in her daze until she could feel someone’s eyes on her, boring into her skull for a few moments.

She snapped back to reality, seeing Zalika staring at her before she had left the stage. A blush covered her face as she fidgeted before following suit. As she entered the lobby, she flinched at the number of people. It wasn’t much, certainly far less than the amount she grew up around – But most of them were strangers. She thought for a second that maybe this could be a new start for her. As a child, she was often the object of bullies for being born as basically a lab rat. Of course there were others, but she was the runt of the litter. She had a feeling that things would be better this time around – But she still didn’t want to hang around. Instead, she made a quick getaway and ran outside. She ran and ran and ran. She ran all the way down the driveway to the garage, not stopping to look back.

She needed to think. She arrived skidding to a halt at the doors, pausing to punch in the security code. Massive titanium doors slid open to reveal a large variety of vehicles: Custom cars, future car concepts, Harleys, dirt bikes. You name it, it was there. Lina made her way to a 2013 Mustang Cobra – She had a few connections – It was white as snow with a cobra design on the side rear half. She slid her hand along the side, looking underneath the hood with a smile of pride as she whispered. “Did ya miss me baby?” She sang softly her favorite song as she worked. It was a rap song, but she was a rapping failure so she had formatted it for singing. As she worked, her voice died to a hum and she let her mind wander. She began to think of the times she spent in the lab with Charles and Bruce, researching mutations. She knew for a fact that genes didn't just disappear. That was stupid. Human geneticists were claiming that normal genes had begun to attack the mutant genes, forcing it out. Biblethumpers were saying God was striking down the Devil's children...She still had research to do. But she needed to upgrade her equipment. Maybe she would get Tiny Toni to help.

Cortez and Zoey Craven stood side by side as they listened to the envigorating speech by Ms. Cateleia. Zoey's eyes were on the beautiful white haired African woman. Cortez wasn't actually paying any attention to her or Prof. Cateleia's particularly snug body suits - which was usually the case for him. He was listening to her speech, He felt every word the Hispanic woman spoke touch him deep down to his soul. He even cheered 'Mutant and Proud' with the others.

He was a Mutant and was very proud. He had 'MnP' tattooed on his left wrist. He'd witnessed the bigotry and hate firsthand himself like many others. His own parents disowned him. He looked down at his baby sister. Sweet kid. They'd abandoned her too or probably would have, had she not run away and he not found her. He probably would have gotten his ass kicked if it weren't for Lina. She had a vision that told him that he was gonna be beaten after his powers were discovered at a poetry slam. It was a pity. That particular poem he truely felt, which was probably why it started to come to life.

Oops.

He looked down at his sister as she looked nervous. Her face was completely blank of expression, which for him was a clear indication that her mind was elsewhere. "Hey, whatsamatter, Twerp?" He asked her and she snapped out of her thoughts and glared at him.

"Must you?" the 10 year old asked with a huff.

"Yes, but that's neither here nor there. What's up?"

He asked, actually concerned. She looked back at the crowd slowly dispersing. "It's just...There's alot more of them-"

"Us." Cortez corrected.

Zoey looked down. "There's alot more of us then I thought." She said. Cortez sighed and knelt down to speak face to face, placing his hands on her tiny shoulders. "Z. Look. You have nothing to be worried about. You're safer here, then with Mom or Dad or anywhere else." He said softly. She sighed. "I know it's just...I don't know..." She said and Cortez rose and scooped her up into a hug. "Look, I know you're not use to being a mutant yet but here. You're not a mutant, You're just Zoey Craven. Cortez's little sister. Although living in my shadow is probably way worse then being with the Normies." He said with a chuckle and she smiled. "You're a dork, you know that?" She said with a laugh. "Ehh. I've been told a few times." He said with a shrug and a goofy grin.

"Hey, why don't you go and get settled in?" He said and set her down. She smiled up at him and looked back at the stage. "You wanna see Professor Zee, don't you?" He asked and she smiled sheepishly. "You know, She doesn't say much aside from the fact that she's a little too old for you." He said and Zoey's eyes widen and she smacked him. "Hey. I don't judge. I mean hell, If she weren't married and couldn't kick my ass from here to Wakanda then yea. I'd feel her too." He said and Zoey just scoffed. "It's a wonder, we come from the same gene pool." She said and walked off. Cortez grinned. He knew him teasing her would take her mind off of leaving Chicago. It wasn't that long ago that Lina practically threatened to kill him if he didn't bring his ass. He wasn't going to because it was too far from Zoey but she was convincing and by convincing, it meant she told him she'd tell her dad.

Cortez wanted no parts of him which was probably why he hadn't asked her out yet. He'd been wanting to for a while now but...Mr. Howlett...not a man to be trifled with and though he had no real reason to fear him as he would respect his daughter -he already did- he just didn't want the man breaking him in half for going any further then first base with her. Cortez decided to keep it friendly. On top of that, She was his best friend. She kinda saved his ass and helped him get in the school and helped him get out to look after Zoey. So naturally he held strong feelings for her. Her dad was a hurdle but ruining their friendship was what stopped him from pursuing a relationship with her.

He decided to go let her know Zoey was getting settled and everything was good. Was it an excuse to see her...Yes but what's he gonna do?

He walked toward the garage where he knew she'd be. He heard rap coming from her Mustang and smirked. He liked that song. So, in typical Cortez fashion ,he began to sing the lyrics to get her attention. "So just take me home where the moon is mellow, then roses are grown and M&M's are yellow and the lightbulbs around my mirror don't flicker, Everybody gets a nice autograph picture, one for you and one for your sister, who had to work tonight but is an avid listener. Every songs her favorite song and Mics don't feedback, all the reviewer say you need to go and see that. Then everybody claps cause everybody is pleased and then they all take the stage and start performing for me, like Ha ha ha ha, Haha haha ha, Ha." He sang and grinned. "Sorry. That's my song." He said feigning a sheepish attitude.

"Hmm?" Lina looked up with a dimpled smile to see Cortez, offering a light wave with greasy, blackened hands. Cortez was a sweety even though he was spoiled - Lina had been rather taken by him for a while, though she was far too shy to say anything to him. Cataleia was always dropping hints for Cortez or training Lina how to interact with people she fancies. The results were always disastrous. Lina really just wasn't a people person. Even when she was working at Stark tower, Tony and Pepper had given her an entire floor to invent, build, and research. The only people she worked alongside comfortably were Tony, Pepper, Melody, Bruce, Benjamin, her brother, her father, Cataleia, Peter, and Zalika.

She wiped her hands on her jeans and grabbed her gloves, putting them on. Her power was one that generally required her to touch people or things to work in most cases, but after practice, she was able to touch inanimate objects with her hands without triggering a vision. She hated having to wear sweaters, jackets, gloves, and pants all the time in public because even the slightest brush against someone would trigger a vision if their skin contacted people. So she didn't really hug people, nor did she kiss, and rarely did she hold hands. It wasn't that she didn't want to. She just didn't like the emotional overload that came with the visions.

She turned back to her car with a smile. "I just fitted her with a new arc cannon. I'm working on a tractor beam. Whadaya think?" Her accent was lightly Italian, her voice soft as she reached into her car, tinkering with the engine.

Back in the lobby, Cataleia was laughing softly in a small circle or friends and new people as they all exchanged funny stories. A boy named Justin was just telling everyone how his ex best friend tried to hit on a girl, but Justin possessed his mind and made him tell the girl that he had herpes and a bad case of the clap for the fifteenth time in the past two months. Fucking hilarious!

Cataleia's face was as red as a cherry as she gasped for air. The dark-haired boy was smirking in victory as everyone turned red and guffawed like a pack of rapid hyenas. Cataleia's laughter was cut short as she felt arms around her waist pulling her into the empty hallway behind her. She inhaled deeply, filling her nostrils with the scent of Antonio Banderas Spirit cologne, Downy, and the light hint of grease. It was her...what was he to her? They dated on and off before and they slept together sometimes, but...she wouldn't say that he was her boyfriend or her lover. Silas was her best friend.

With benefits.

She.turned around in his arms and wrapped him.in a tight hug, basking in his scent. "That was the shortest speech I have ever heard." He looked down with those big chocolate orbs that were filled with adoration. Silas loved Cataleia with every fiber of his being; even though she was a century younger than him. He was enraptured by her beauty and her leadership. Plus the sex was great. She smiled up at him and chuckled. "But inspiring. And that's what matters."

"I thought it was great." Buck Rogers had come down the hallway, smiling softly as Cataleia gently pushed herself from Silas' arms to give Buck a tight hug. "Hey! What are you doing here?" Buck held her tightly, rubbing her back. "Your dad sent me. Benjamin should be here shortly. Aliyah is on mission with her parents." Buck had been sent specifically to guard Cataleia - And he sure as hell wasn't complaining. Cataleia ignored the possessive growl coming from Silas behind her. "Yes, because I need some big, strong man to protect me." She didn't mean for it to sound as bitchy as it had come out, but she wasn't pleased with her father sending body guards. She was Agent of the year five years in a row! She could handle her own.

Before Buck could explain, she was gone, storming up to her room to have a serious talk with her father. Buck and Silas were left to stare down before aggressively pushing past each other to go mingle.

Above everyone was a young man with dusty blonde hair, sitting with perfect balance on the chandelier, scanning the crowd for his aunt. His gleaming yellow eyes were soul-piercing and filled with loathing. All these people were here because of humans. Not his mother. Filthy, disgusting, stupid humans. He glared mostly at Buck - To Markus, he was just a lab rat. Like his goody-goody dad. Captain America. Pfft. Buck didn't belong here.

He watched closely as the African Princess strode about, keeping the order as people got their fill of food, got their room assignments, and slowly began to disperse. He looked away in disgust as the LeBeau boy sent a blush across the cheeks of an older blonde male. "Fucking queers." He hissed under his breath.

"You must be joking." Zalika canted her head to the left before squatting down so that she was eye level with the child. She flicked the dark panther ears that replaced the ears that used to be on the side of her head. "People fear me. They are wary and try their best to avoid me. I am not outgoing nor am I a kind woman. I am harsh and judgemental. I hit children your age when they misbehave. I have pulled guns on them just for getting on my nerves. Is this what you want? To grow to be silent and hateful? For others to listen mostly out of fear? I care not whether people like me - Only that they respect and fear me. It is fear that prevents mutiny. You want a better mentor for leading? Go to Cataleia. You want a mother? Go to Cataleia. You want to learn more about your powers? Go to Orfelina. I don't have the patience to play mommy right now. How do I know you're strong enough to be worth my time? I have little patience for childlike attitudes. You are not the first to ask - What makes you so special? Why me?"

Zalika grilled the girl like she was a fish. She wasn't one that was known for kindness or patience. It was rare that either of those virtues were expressed towards anyone that she didn't grow up with. She looked the girl right in her eyes, her own strangely mystic blue and green ones smoldering. "You can lead with love or fear. What is your choice?"

Cataleia waved absent-mindedly to Melody on her way back downstairs, heatedly spouting Portuguese at her father on the phone, heading outdoors with Buck close behind. Markus watched from above before dropping from his perch and landing with acrobatic grace, startling those who didn't see him. He snarled at them before disappearing in a cloud of orange smoke. He reappeared near the garages in a tree adjacent to where Florence was drawing. He watched with a canted head, his yellow-orange eyes gleaming with devilish mischief.

Silas ignored Cortez, roughly brushing past the boy to his sister. The two shared a long and tight hug, whispering to each other in a language that seemed to be a mix of some Native American, Italian, and French. Silas then held his sister at arm's length, smiling fondly before kissing the top of her head. Turning to leave, he regarded Cortez with a cold and hateful stare, baring fangs and growling before shoving past him again. Silas and Orfelina had a very close bond and they had both literally killed to protect each other from any and all harm - Physical, mental, and emotional. Silas didn't like the way Cortez's pheromones spiked when he saw Lina. It made him want to incinerate the kid.

He stepped back outside, not pausing as he spoke. "It's rude to eavesdrop, Florence. Nor is it polite to spy, Markus." He had smelt them both, not needing to look to know where they were. He ran his fingers through his black hair as he went on.

Julio winked and waved as the older man headed to bed. He learned that his name was Oliver and he was recently divorced. The Brazilian-Cajun chuckled, slinking his way over to Melody and her group of techies. "Hey. Guys." He wasn't the best English speaker and had only began to learn seven months ago how to speak it.

Zoey listened to Zalika. She didn't flinch when she snapped at her. Her eyes never moved from hers. She just listened to the Princess as she spoke. Absorbing what she said. Zoey began to think. It was true that Zalika was scary but maybe that's what drawn her to her. For Zoey , she said it this way.
If she really didn't like her she could have simply ignored her. If she were truly feared the way she said, she would not be married lest her husband was either seriously whipped or twisted in his own right. No. Zalika probably wanted to be that way and therefore push people away and it would work on most people. Say for someone light hearted and naive like Cortez would have stammered but No. Not Zoey. She was young but she was mature and not only that.
She liked a challenge.
Princess Zalika was definitely that and she would be her mentor.
One way or another. If child like tactics didn't work, which for Zoey, it usually did. She'd find some way to get her way. Some would call that spoiled. Maybe she was but Zoey didn't care for labels.

Throwing away her child like act of stammering and begging for empathy. Zoey's entire presence changed. From then on, Zoey treated this conversation like a chess match. Which Zoey took a little pride in. She got Zalika's attention. Not only that, She got her to talk to her, tell her what she liked and didn't and she'd given her a choice. She'd fallen for Zoey's gambit and now Zoey had the advantage.
Zoey's eyes never left Zalika's. “I didn't ask for a mother. I asked for a mentor.” She said, playing toward Zalika's wanting of respect. “I prefer fear.” She said simply. She knew this next play was a dangerous one. This would either get her killed or exactly want she wanted. Either way. She'd have Zalika's undivided attention.
“As for my abilities. I believe that is for you to decide.” She said and touched her hands to Zalika's arm. The world around them shifted and they were standing in Zoey's old bed room. “ You may shoot me for this, but, I figured. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” She said feigning humility. She smiled at the Princess.

Cortez looked at Silas. “O-Kay, Hello to you too.” He said rubbing the back of his neck. “ Anyway, Lina, I just wanted to let you know Zoey's sa-” It was then he felt a pulse. He had a strange connection to Zoey and he could tell when something wasn't right. It wasn't like he was knew if she was in trouble and it wasn't like he knew anything specific. He just knew something wasn't right. She was up to something. Zoey could be scary sometimes. He sighed. Ah...Zoey...What the hell? He thought. “ Uh, Sorry. Safe. Is what I was going to say. If you wanted to finally meet her.” he said with a shrug. She and Zoey hadn' t met yet. Cortez would talk non-stop about them to each other them, so it was about time they met.
