Schuit

The wanderer

0 · 138 views · located in Streets of Manhattan

a character in “null”, as played by Schuit

Description

Schuit wears a dark mask and hood, mostly for filtering air and providing shade however, when speaking to someone he trusts, he naturally lowers the mask to be polite. He's a very timid guy, at only 17 when the final bombs were dropped, now he's 22 and has grown to be cunning and strong. Schuit always has his bow and a small sword he had since he was a kid. although at the time the sword was just for decoration, and the bow was for sport, now it's changed. He's sharpened the sword to be useful, and the bow is his source of survival. Schuit is very good at gauging the weather, and tracking. He almost has a 6th sense when it comes to being watched, of course, he always thinks someone is watching him. He stands at about 5' 10'' and has no scaring on his face, and minimal scaring across his body.

So begins...

Schuit Walks slowly in between the abandoned cars, The only sounds that of his footsteps, and the wind. On the ground in front of him is an old sign that Reads: Manhattan - one mile.
"Manhattan huh? Maybe I'll be able to stay a while." He says to himself.
He continues walking towards this ever looming city. It's the only city he's seen with so many tall buildings left standing.
Schuit looks in a few cars as he passes, and doesn't find anything of interest, just some moldy clothes, or long expired food.
He continues his trek towards the streets of Manhattan.

As Schuit is walking through the empty street, He hears a noise, as if someone had kicked a rock. Schuit Immediately crouched down and drew his Pocket knife. He stayed low, and silent as a ghost as he glanced around him. Perhaps he was hearing things? He was almost to the edge of the city, and could see the tall, abandoned buildings looming over him, as if they were giant gravestones in a graveyard. It actually gave him the creeps, but He may be able to call it home one day.
He Hears the same noise again, a scratching noise. Schuit presses his chest to the ground and looks under the cars around him. Then he sees it, A fox digging against the center divider. Although schuit was almost out of food, he decided pull his bow on it. He's always had a soft spot for foxes.

Schuit Finally Reaches the streets of Manhattan. He immediately begins to check around through cars for supplies. He stands right outside of an old seven eleven, when he sees a jeep. It's the only thing he has seen with the doors closed. As he approaches to search for food or water, he sees a body lying curled against a smaller body. From his angle it looked as if the two were asleep, but as he walked around he saw what had truly happened.
"Damned fog got to these poor souls while they slept."
Schuit hated seeing dead kids, it's what he always hated about the war, Civilian Casualties.
He thought back to when the last of the bombs fell. An all in one Pissing contest between all of the major powers of the world, all sending their nukes and gasses to as many places as possible. Bastards.

As Schuit continues his endless search, he decides to take a break, a nice breeze has swept through and he's began to work up a sweat. He lowers his hood, and pulls down his mask and inhales deeply with his eyes closed.
Upon opening them he sees a store ahead. The store has an anti-burglary gate around it, keeping people from smashing through and stealing anything. and although the glass beyond the gate is broken, the gate is intact, which means there could be things of use inside. He begins to walk quietly towards the building.

Schuit Began Yanking on the gates of the shop across the street from the seven eleven. He gave it about 2 tugs before he realized it was stupid. If yanking it worked, The gate would no longer be here.
He pulled out his pocket knife and began to hammer on the lock. On the third hammer two things happened, The lock broke, and Schuit's hand slipped past the blade, cutting his hand open.
"Damn!" He yelled through clenched teeth.
Pulling an old red scarf out of his backpack, he cut a piece off with the knife as he's done so many times before, and wrapped it around his hand.
After his hand was wrapped, he turned his eyes towards the shop, and dragged the noisy metal gate aside so he could reach the doorway.

As Frankie was approaching the Seven Eleven's door, he heard a cling clang sound coming from behind him. "What the fuck was that? He perked his head up to see through the fog. Not such luck, he couldn't see anything. A few seconds passed by before Frankie gave up and turned around. As he was about to start again, Frankie suddenly heard another cling. The second and third noise were rather new. The sound of a gate opening was overshadowed by a painful "Damn! causing Frankie to go on the defensive.

After a few moments of silence, Frankie decided to investigate the cause of the noise. Swerving through the few cars that were left on the street, he crossed the street unnoticed. Focusing on the building in front of him, he noticed a shifting silhouette about to enter the door. Shifting his body so he can see if he could recognize the man, Frankie bumped into an old rusted wrench making a significant clank. Shit! He cursed, causing him to act quick so he wouldn't be seen. But it was too late. He felt a presence behind him.

"and you're following me because...?" Schuit asked the man after maneuvering past him quickly and silently after hearing the wrench.
"I thought someone had been following me since I entered town, but I couldn't quite see who."
Schuit began to eye the man, to see if he was a threat. Although Schuit's instincts normally told him to fight now, ask questions later, The man in front of him didn't seem to pose a major threat, his body language wasn't showing aggression, and that was enough for Schuit to not draw his sword, although his hand lay ever so softly on the pommel just in case.

[Sorry I didn't post, I passed out then slept in late]

Mark had been walking for a while with his guard up. 'If I'm correct there's a 7 Eleven just down the street' he thought and continued walking with silent steps. He soon heard noises as he approached the shop.
Humans, talking. Not animals scavenging or anything. He became more alert as he wandered stealthily through the fog, still not making any noise. 'Two people....' he thought. 'Don't get caught' he nodded to himself.
While he heard the two talking, he was able to see the gate through the fog. 'Don't make any noise...' he thought. Easily with the fogs help, Mark slipped passed both the men and through the gates.
He glanced behind him, making sure they both didn't notice him, and continued walking. If they distracted each other, he had nothing to worry about, and he wouldn't need to join that chat either.
He entered the 7 Eleven silently, and glanced around. Nothing caught his eye immediately. He walked over to the desk, hopped behind it, and searched through everything. 'Nothing.... there better be things around the shelves.' he thought nervously and walked out from behind the desk. Mark searched through the shelves, taking small bags of chips as quietly as he possibly could. As well as some small granola bars. 'Wish they had twinkies' he joked in his head.

Mark heard the scream and nearly jumped out of his skin. 'What the hell!? Who's screaming?!' he thought looking around quickly. He walked up to the rooftop of the 7 Eleven and crouched down. He could see both the men still, but no one else. 'That sounded like a girly scream, but no ladies...' he thought and chuckled quietly still searching around. 'Why the fuck would you be screaming at a time and place like this?' he thought and shook his head. 'Up here seems safe for now' he nodded to himself, and sat down with his head hung low.

Frankie looked at him with relief. "Oh no don't get me wrong," he began as get propped himself up from the ground to face him."I haven't been following anybody. I just got here myself, and I heard a noise behind me and I was worried someone was getting attacked." Frankie looked at the man hoping he believed him. The man seemed to loosen up, but the way his hand was positioned around his weapon clearly meant he was still cautious."So are you from around here?" He asked hoping to get to know the guy."What's your name man?
