Rya Hallot

Personality:
For the most part Rya can be quite quiet around others. Not because she is shy but more because she does not instantly trust them or have the confidence in herself to get to know them. Once you get to know her Rya is fiercely loyal and can be described as friendly and almost mothering, her father says she gets this from her Mother. Rya lacks confidence in herself, even though she has a well established team. This all comes down to the fact she does not feel comfortable in herself.

If there was anything dis-likable about Rya it is how protective she is about the people she loved which include her Pokemon. She was once told by a certain Professor about how fierce and loyal the Officers in Kanto were and she always thought that he was talking directly to her.

Biography:
[i] Rya lives in Sinnoh in SunnyShore City. Her father was a fisherman and she never met her mother. Her father once found a PokeEgg stowed on his boat, he assumed that it had been left by a passerby who couldn't be bothered with a baby Pokemon and so he decided to give it to Rya. It hatched into a Shinx.
Rya had loved her little pokemon so much but he was killed by a wild Pokemon. It is something which Rya does not talk about to anyone, in fact she tries to forget.

Rya had been 13 when the incident had happened and it was not until she was 15 that she decided to start her journey with Pokemon again at the Evergrande University, with her excellent grades it had not been hard for her to get in. She had already previously caught an Aipom before applying to the University and had acquired a Ponyta from the local stables she had been working in ( it had been a runt so she was given it for free). It was on the day she was leaving that her father gave her a final leaving present. A Piplup, which she loves dearly.

Once Rya arrived at the University she became a religious attendee of Professor Redwoods classes. Whilst on campus she went on an excursion to a local cave where she ran into a Gible. It took all three of her Pokemon to take it down but Rya managed to catch it and train it up through love and care and hard work. t is through this system that two of her Pokemon have evolved and she owes it all to Professor Redwood telling her that Pokemon were friends. It was for that reason she decided to join a few other on the way to help out Kanto.[/center]

Rya slept comfortably. In her dreams she was lost with Zephina in the mountain. Every corner the pair turned looked the same. However, Zephina's light was so calm and relaxing and she was warm.

It wasn't until she found herself forcabley floating in the air with Ryan that she began to wake.
'Ryan what's going on I-'
Before she could finish her sentence she was transported back home. Back to the classroom she had studied in. Rya stirred and opened her eyes, Ryan was holding on to her and she brushed him away quickly.

Her first reaction was to cry again but her emotions had a totally different idea, rage had set in.
' Who the hell brought us here!' She scorned until her gaze met the Professor.
He had brought them back after everything. She stormed forward till she was inches from him.
' This best be a joke RED! Yes... you are now Red to me, the name that's hated in Kanto because he gave in! I can see why Brock disliked you so much. You have made us give up at the first hurdle! Did she die in vain! DID OSHA die in vain? Send us back NOW!'

She was shaking in rage. She had lost so much within the last few hours and now it was over. Was he blaming her loss? Was she the reason they were sent back?
' You are a coward! Send me back... Send us back we had so much to do!'

Jack sighed a relieved sigh seeing friendly faces when he arrived in Cerulean City. "What happened?"

Jack rolled off the back of the Dodrio to stand on his feet and tell his story to who he could only assume was Nurse Joy. The looks on the faces of the listening people were shocked. No one could believe that Daemon Corp would go as far as to flow the path through the mountain. After a while Jacks arm was bandaged and he started getting restless. This is when Misty came to him offering some one on one training. Excitedly Jack accepted the offer wanting to further improve himself.

Such went Jack's day training with the old Gym Leader so that he would be able to take on Daemon Corp. This is when he made a promise to himself. "No matter what happens, even if I have to go on alone I will stop Daemon Corp. for what they've done to the Pokemon and my friends. They aren't going to get away from this."

Red stood patiently as she let loose her anger on him. Every word cut like a knife, but his feelings would have to take the toll, if that was the only way to keep them safe. No, it wasn't the Empoleon's death that made him bring them back. Red had already caused enough problems in Kanto before he started to meddle again, and now this Jack boy may have been killed as well. It's not these kids' problem, so why should they give their lives to save it?

Rya had stopped scolding him, and demanded to be sent back. His answer was simple. "No."

He walked past her quietly and shut the door in her face, leaving Ryan and Rya alone together.

-----------------------

Image

The whole exchange took Ryan by surprise. Rya hadn't spoken a word wince the cave, and when she jumped up to stop the Professor he had to admit, it scared him. He could see from here that Rya was holding back tears as she screamed at Redwood. All the grief from Osha's death was being funneled straight at him. Ryan felt a twinge of sorrow for the old man. What could have happened to the mighty Red to bring him to this state?

Rya finished, and Redwood simply told her 'no' and left. Rya stood for a moment, stewing in anger, and hatred, before she just dropped to her knees again. Rya was broken, and there was nothing Ryan could do to fix her.

He stood and approached her. He knew they would have to go back somehow, and he had an idea. He knelt down next to her.

"Rya, were going back tonight. I promise." He gave her a small reassuring smile, then dropped to sit next to her. They would have to bide their time until nightfall but then, then they would have their chance to return to Kanto.

Ryan silently leaned against Dio while Rya carved the tree. It was odd, He had always been the tallest member of the team, but now Dio and Chloe towered over him. He silently looked over his team. They had grown so much in such a short time. Dio and Chloe just exuded power, much more than they ever had before. The thought of his team getting stronger and stronger... he had to admit, he was excited. They could only get tougher.

They were right back where they started, but things were so different now. There was little left of the ignorance they had when they left. He and Rya knew the how cruel the world truly was. They knew what it was like in Kanto, and that was exactly why they were headed back. They weren't naive anymore. This time they were ready, and this time they wouldn't be under the thumb of some old codger. It was never really Redwood's call. It was always Ryan's. He got the team together. He spoke up to Redwood. He planned this mission. This was his game, and they were gonna play it his way.

Rya finished her ritual and the group stood for a while unmoving. The sun had been set for some time when he finally stepped forward away from his team and put his hand on her shoulder.

"It's time." She turned away from the tree for the first time. She had been crying. Not the misery drenched cry of loss she'd had in the Pokemon Center. This one was her shedding her shell of innocence. She was crying away her doubts and her fears. From now on he knew, this would be a whole new Rya.

"Call everyone back, I've got a plan."

As Ryans hand connected with Rya's shoulder she felt his passion surge through her. She knew what it meant.

Her team stood diligently awaiting their orders. The feelings were mutual for each pokemon there. It was time to go back.

'Let's hear it! If you have a plan Ryan I will be beside you the whole way!'
She took his hand in hers and squeezed tightly. If she had learnt anything from this whole journey it was that Ryan was the best partner anyone could ask for and it was time to prove her worth.

She put her hand into her bag. She dug to the bottom and pulled out a rare candy. It was for Zephina. Rya had been saving it but she knew that if they were going back to Kanto, she needed her strongest team.

All he needed was Constantine. He asked Rya to stay back and wait for him by the tree, and that he would be back soon. He could tell she wasn't pleased with letting him take care of it himself, but all he needed was Constantine.

Night had fallen, and the Professor had gone to sleep. Ryan knew the Professor used to fall asleep in his office when he was busy, and he would definitely have been busy tonight. He gripped the Pokéball tightly and slid the door to the classroom open, moving inside without a sound. If all went according to plan, this would be an easy job.

He dropped the Pokeball to his side, doing his best to cover the light of Constantine's emergence. The salamander Pokémon dropped to the floor, making himself as small as possible. Ryan smiled, he had to admit Constantine was well trained. He leaned down. "Alright bud, it's your moment, make me proud." The Quagsire nodded and slid off toward the Professor's office. Ryan had his own destination.

The Professor had a completed Pokédex. He had to, if he truly was the Pokémon master everyone made him out to be. And if he had a completed dex, he would have to have at least one of every Pokemon in Kanto. Ryan would just have to steal the right one. He slowly made his way to the Professor's desk and took a seat. The man would have his Pokémon stored in the box system, and Ryan was sure he'd be able to get in. He winced as the light from the monitor temporarily blinded him. A password screen... of course. He went to work.

Meanwhile, Constantine had slid into the Professor's office and was keeping close watch on the slumbering Pokémon master. If the Professor showed even a slight chance of awaking Quagsire was to use Yawn and put him back under. So far all was going well, but there was no telling whether or not the man would wake up, and if Ryan could get out in time.

*Rejected*... *Rejected*... *Rejected*...

"Damn..." Ryan whispered. His queses were not working.. "Come on old man... what is it?" A thought entered his head... what if..?

"S-i-l-v-e-r" Ryan whispered as he typed. *Accepted* Ryan had to stifle his celebration, as to not wake up the old man. He quickly found the folder wherein Redwood kept his Pokemon. It would be simple, just choose a Pokémon, and it would materialize into the Pokéball placed on the pedestal. He knew just the one he needed. Ryan placed the empty Pokéball in the slot and searched for the Pokémon he needed. He knew all along just what he wanted, and when he found it quickly started the process. The machinery sprang to life as the Pokémon was being transported, and it was making a bit more noise than Ryan would have liked. He leaned over the desk to see the office door. He hoped Constantine had it under control.

After a few minutes a beep told him it was done. He swiped the Pokéball and left the chair in a rush. He pulled Constantine's ball from his belt and returned him. He'd done well, and they were nearly home free. He slid his way back out of the classroom and jogged down the hallway back to the tree where he'd left Rya. He slid to a halt next to her and produced his new Pokéball.

"Rya, everything went perfectly, It's time we head back." He tossed the ball and let out his new partner. It felt odd having a Pokémon that didn't belong to him, but it was a necessary evil. The two of them were greeted with a sleepy stare by the same Abra that had originally taken them to Pallet Town. Ryan smiled at Abra. "Hey pal, we need your help alright?" He dropped to one knee to speak more comfortably with the Abra. "You up for saving the world?" He held out a hand, and took Rya's hand with the other one. Abra looked hesitant, and he didn't blame it. This whole situation was pretty jarring. He just really hoped Abra would trust him.

Abra finally reached up and and took Ryan's hand, and they were gone.

----------

Ryan knew he'd never get used to that teleporting thing. He could have sworn he'd seen the sun, but that was impossible. There was no sun in Pallet Town, too much smog. A few blinks and there it was. Something was wrong. They weren't in Pallet. He sat up and looked from side to side. All he could see was water. Were they on an island? He spun around and looked behind him. Yup... they were on an island. The giant volcano towering over them pretty much proved that. They were on Cinnabar Island.

When Ryan explained his plan Rya was not happy he was to do it himself but she trusted him.
He left her by the same tree in which she had carved Osha's name.

She had returned all of her Pokemon but she felt this was as good a time as any to release Zephina. She grasped the Pokeball tightly and released the Ponyta into the crisp night air.
It gave a small whinnie and Rya quickly wrapped her arms around the horse, hushing it as she did so.

'Look Zephy, we are going back. We have lost so much but we need to go back... For kanto'
The Pony grunted as if to say she wanted to go back too.
'Now before we left home the first time, Dad gave me this and I want you to have it'

Rya pulled out a rare candy and began to unwrap it. She knew it was time for an adjustment in her team, each pokemon was getting stronger and they couldn't be the best they could be if she didn't start acting like a true trainer.

'I think you know what this does but only take it if you are ready!' She held the candy out in front of the Ponyta, who ate it eagerly.
There was a small flash of light. Rapidash emerged.
It was truly amazing to watch. Rya began to cry and held her team mate.
After a few seconds Rya heard shuffling behind her, Ryan must of been finished so she quickly returned Zephina before readying herself for the journey.

___

The pair were transpoted back to Kanto, alongside the Abra. The air was thick and very different from the last time they 'visited'.
'I am guessing this isn't were we last left off?' Rya asked as she tried to make out her surroundings

Ryan rubbed his head, the sunlight was giving him a headache. His vision was finally adjusted enough to where he could keep his eyes open long enough to figure out what was going on. Rya was nearby, in the same stupor as he was. "I'm guessing this isn't where we last left off?" Ryan nodded silently at the question. They most definitely weren't in Pewter City.

Ryan pushed himself to his knees and sat back on his feet. He could see clearly now, and his eyes locked on the Abra who was sitting quietly in the grass. Ryan produced a Pokéball and brought the Pokémon home. "Thanks bud, glad to have you." He took a moment to look at the ball. Number six. It had taken years, but now his team was full... A twinge of guilt hit him. He hadn't lost anyone so far, and he knew it was coming, but Rya had lost her partner. He didn't know how much that must've hurt. Until he experienced it he would never be able to sympathize with Rya.

He shook his head and stood up for the first time. He took a quick spin to familiarize himself with the surroundings. This was what he knew. They were on an Island. Most likely Cinnabar Island, based on the volcano, but there was no guarantee they ended up in Kanto at all. If they were on Cinnabar, all they would find were ruins. The volcano had decimated the whole island decades ago, and soon afterward the epidemic began. There was no way anyone could've rebuilt the place.

"Well..." He put his hands on his hips and turned to Rya. "Whadda ya think?" He was at a loss here. Time to brainstorm.

Rya looked at her surroundings, it was a rather desolate place surrounded by water. Her mind instantly jumped to the conclusion they were on Cinnibar.
When they were taught about the Island from Red, he had spoken of the Volcano and an old Gym leader who fought with fire. She was actually rather glad they hadn't been transferred to Cerulean to meet with Misty, the water type trainer. Rya wasn't sure she was ready to meet the woman just yet, especially after losing her own water type.

She watched as Ryan pulled a puzzled face. The team was a little stranded now. Since the Island was surrounded by water it would be hard to leave it without a boat or a water type and they only had Constantine.

She put her hand to her head and let out a sigh, they had came to their first hurdle within five minutes of being back.
'It seems like we have hit a dead end. Maybe we should look for a boat or something. I doubt there will be anyone on the Island'

Ryan rubbed his head. She was right, they were probably alone here, and without Osha they would have a hard time getting off. He knew nothing more about Cinnabar than that there used to be a gym here, but that was a long time ago. The old leader, Blaine, was probably long dead by now. They had no help, no way to contact anyone, and no decent way off the island. Hooray.

He racked his brain for anything on Kanto Geography he may have learned in Redwood's class. He recalled a week or so in which the professor had discussed it, but it was very basic and he couldn't recall a whole lot of it. He crossed his arms in frustration and dropped his head. Something caught his eye, and he cursed himself for forgetting about his Pokétch. He tapped a few buttons on the watch, hunting for the "map" function. With a beep a map of the Kanto region appeared, but he couldn't see it. The glare from the sun was blinding. He turned his back to the sun and scanned the map for Cinnabar Island.

It seemed the island was directly south of Pallet Town, and southwest of Fuschia City. The best bet would be to head back to Pewter to speak to Brock. The Ex-leader wasn't a fan of Redwood, so he would help them out. Hopefully...

He clicked off the Pokétch and turned to Rya. "So we're about 2 hours south of Pallet... and double that southwest from Fuschia. We can go either way, but Constantine might not be able to take us to either on his own." He got an idea...

"We should explore a bit. Maybe we'll get some training in." he said with a smirk. "Who knows what on this island."

Rya nodded, exploring the island was probably the best idea. By the looks of things it was pretty desolate but maybe they would be lucky and find something that could help them.

Rya decided now was as good a time as any to release Zephina. It felt befitting that her newly evolved Rapidash should get to see the once great fire island.
She plucked the pokeball from her belt and a bright light shone to reveal the now, much larger horse type.

Placing a hand on Rapidashed back, Rya smiled eagerly. In truth she was glad to be back in Kanto, no matter how desolate. However, the sooner they got off the island and back on track the better.

' If we are exploring, I reckon Zeph will want to help. Do you want to lead the way Ryan?'

Ryan thought about that. "I was actually thinking we split up," He craned his neck to the volcano looming over them. It sat right in the middle of the island, so it made sense that if they both went around different directions they would eventually come back to each other on the opposite side. "We can go opposite directions around the mountain and meet up on the other side." He could sense some resistance from Rya on this. "I just want to cover more ground, and get outta here as soon as we can."

Split up....
Rya gulped a little. Though she understood why Ryan had suggested it, she was a little hesitant to agree.
' Okay. I suppose that's as good a plan as any.'

Zephina lowered herself down so that Rya could climb on top of her.
' Though I think I might get to the other side before you at this rate'

He hadn't realized she'd evolved Zeph... She was magnificent. He stepped forward to run his hand along the Rapidash's firey mane. It was probably one of the most beautiful Pokémon he'd ever seen, and Rya looked perfectly at home riding her.

"Rya. She's amazing."

He dropped his hand to his side with a smile. Dio would love to see the new Zephina. He tossed the ball and Dio appeared with a bright roar. After a bit of confusion, Dio focused on Zeph. He approached her slowly and eyed her carefully. After a short stare down Ryan could see what he assumed to be a smile cross the Typhlosion's face before he sent a ball of fire into the sky above the two of them. Zeph answered with the same gestured.

Ryan had to laugh. The partnership between these two was unbeatable. He looked up to Rya and smiled. It was so simple for the Pokémon to connect, people were more difficult. He wondered if he and Rya had the same chemistry. It was possible.

"C'mon Dio, We wouldn't want to lose to them would we?" Dio happily growled in agreement. Ryan hopped on top of Dio. Wasn't as natural of a ride as Zeph, but it worked. "See ya on the other side. Dio took a few steps forward, but Ryan had him stop for a bit. Without turning back to Rya he spoke, "Be careful." It'd probably be a while before they met up on the opposite side. He knew she didn't need a reminder to be safe, but saying it made him feel better. If only just a little bit.

He kicked his heels and Dio sauntered off around the west side of the mountain.

Dio and Zephina were almost in perfect sync together. It was nice that both teams could connect so well.
As Ryan set off on the back of Dio one way, Rya kicked her heel softly into Zephina's side and the pair headed along the opposite side of the island.

It was somewhat odd riding on top Of Zeph now, she was a lot higher from the ground than before, which took a little getting used to. Luckilly the Horse Pokemon could sense a little of Rya's apprehension and took things smoothly to begin with.

Rya imagined that this island was once truly beautiful, it was a shame to see how desolate it had become. Though she couldn't complain, riding on the back of her newly evolved Rapidash certainly made the journey sweeter.

As the pair galloped through darkened terrain, the smell of old ashes clogged the air. Zephina had been riding for a good 40 minutes or so, it was probably a good time to take a rest and let the remainder of the team stretch their legs. Rya knew full well that Squishy would enjoy the environment and that Tai was probably missing her attention.
The gallop broke down into a small trot before the pair stopped beside an old unused building.
In it's day it would of most likely been a grand mansion, Rya could tell this from the carved pokemon that lay outside.
Even though the carvings were molded and doused in ash, she could make out that one was a Growlithe and the other was a Vulpix.
She placed her hand on the dog pokemons head and pushed aside the dust. Her will to save kanto was growing stronger by the minute, there was beauty here, even under all the smog.

Rapidash began chuffing in the background. Bringing Rya back to reality. It was time to let everyone out.
Three beams of light danced into the air, bringing out her remaining three pokemon.
Rya had forgot how small her team had become. Though they were still strong, it hit her again that Osha was no longer here.

About an hour after they'd separated all Ryan could see was the mountain looming over and the dusty ruins of the island. Dio seemed to feel quite at home among the ash and volcanic rock. Every now and then he would shove his face into piles of ash and giddily blow it away into a cloud. Sure it was fun for Dio, but the clouds of ash had painted Ryan grayer and grayer as the trek went on. After a while he could hardly breathe anymore, so he let out Constantine to give him a little misting every now and then.

This was unwise. You never quite realize how hot it is until you get wet. It only makes the sun shine brighter and harder. After a little while Ryan knew he needed to get out of the sun. Sunburn was the least of his problems, but he still didn't want to put up with it.

He had been sticking close to the mountain. He could still see the ocean to the west, but north and south was just the mountain. Eventually he found a small inlet in the mountain and slid in there to take refuge from the blistering sun. Dio leaned down and bounced Ryan off onto the rocks below, where he proceeded to have a seat against one of the walls. He lazily tossed out the rest of his team, they were probably getting pretty antsy. Constantine instantly waddled over to take the seat next to Ryan, as per usual. Chloe and Hector sat together as normal, though Hector looked displeased that Chloe could no longer lie on top of him. As she was about 7 feet tall now, this was no longer a possibility.

Leon had not had a wealth of time to get to know the rest of the team, but for now he was pecking curiously at Mancini's head. Mancini, ever the oblivious one, didn't seem to mind, so Ryan let it go and took a look around the cave.

He hadn't noticed at first, but the walls were strangely smooth for a cave like this, though he attributed that to cooling lava. It just seemed... artificial. They were just inside the cave, and it went much deeper it seemed, but past this point was pitch black.

Ryan was not eager to explore another cave at all. After the Mt. Moon incident, caves were a touchy subject. Unfortunately, after twenty minutes of staring at nothing curiosity got the best of him. He shook his head and pulled himself to his feet. "C'mon guys, we're going spelunking." With a few quick flashes everyone was back in their balls, save Chloe, Dio, and Constantine. It wasn't safe for Leon, and Mancini and Hector were just too slow. He needed Dio to light the way, and Constantine would be extremely helpful if they were attacked inside a volcano. Chloe just didn't want to go back home.

So they carried on, exploring this unknown volcano cave.

The group took a small rest.
Rya handed out some Poffins that she had spare. The sight of berries was rare in Kanto and she doubted there would be any on the island.

After a small break, Rya returned Squishy and Rex, who surprisingly were beginning to get on well.
Tai refused to go back into his pokeball and took pride position around Rya's neck.
Zephina bend down to allow her owner to get on her.
' You truly are beautiful Zephina.'
Tai let out a loud high pitch whine.
' You are too Tai but let Zephy have her moment'
She petted the small purple monkey that sat keenly on her shoulders.

Before long they were back out on the open terrain. Though Rya really liked Ryan, she had to admit his idea of splitting up was a good one. For the first time in a long time she was beginning to feel different, like a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
Of course Tai brought her back to reality now and again by pulling on her hair.

Rya decided not to approach the mountain that loomed over the island. Instead she stuck to the coastal route. Zephina slowed to a trot when they got close to the ocean. The sea was choppy but still calm enough to travel on.
In the distance Rya could see a small black dot. Curiosity began to strike her as they got closer.

It was nothing like the caves of Mt. Moon at all. The walls were smooth, way smoother than volcanic rock should be. He had to wonder weather or not the cave was artificial, or if was some freak accident that made the cave this way. There was also the smell. Sulfur and ash. It was killing him. If he didn't find some fresh air soon he would surely lose a lung. Glances to Chloe showed that she was feeling the same way. In contrast, Dio was completely in his element. Ryan had never seen it so comfortable with it's surroundings. It was also pitch black, the only light coming from the fire adorning Dio's shoulders. Ryan walked tentatively, close to Dio, and ran his fingertips along the walls. There seemed to be a pattern to the wall, but it was too dark to be sure, even with Dio's light.

All they'd done was travel up, and up, and up... Ryan knew they were no longer facing the direction they'd entered, but the twists and turns of the cave had him completely disoriented. More to the point that it wasn't a natural formation, the path was the same width in its entirety, and did not branch off at all. Just one straight path...

"Roaaarrr!!"

Ryan's head whipped around at Chloe's cry. Had she been attacked? Dio quickly turned to face her just as Ryan made it to her side. Chloe was standing alone, looking no worse for wear. She was fine, she had just run into a rock. Ryan chuckled and patted the giant bears stomach. It's alright Chloe, just a rock.

But that caught his curiosity. For their entire journey not one rock had been out of place. It was a perfect semi circle path since they'd entered. How strange for a lonesome rock to appear just now. "Dio, can ya come here for a sec? With a grunt the Pokémon approached, and as such the area brightened up. The rock Chloe had bumped into was oddly squared. He ran his hand across it. It was very smooth, like glass. Other sides were rougher, but still not like a rock. Not enough light. Ryan turned to Dio. "Can ya pump it up a bit bud?" Dio dipped his head and his neck exploded. Tongues of flames licked the ceiling while Ryan shielded his eyes. He might've overdone it a bit.

But for once he could see clearly what was in front of him. It wasn't a rock. It looked like a screen. He came closer, running his hands down the sides. The thing was about 4 feet tall and rectangular, with a large screen right on top. There didn't seem to be any buttons on the side to turn it on, or any kind of cord to power it, as if there were any power plants around here.

"C'mon ya bastard. Gimme something." He tapped the screen several times, but no dice. "C'mooooonnn" He groaned as he angrily punted the machine. A sharp pain traveled up his leg and he cursed himself. "So stupid"

Suddenly the light got a bit brighter. Ryan looked up from his damaged foot to see a dim light coming out of the screen. "Dio, tone it down bud. The flames fell away and Ryan was left with only the dim screen, which was getting brighter as time went on. He blew the decades of dust from the screen, and could finally make out a few words.

"Yes or No: Caterpie evolves into Metapod."

Ryan raised an eyebrow. What could this be? There were no buttons to give the answer. And he had no idea what would happen when he did answer.

"Yes...?" A loud 'DING' echoed through the cave. Ok. Now what?

Nothing followed the Ding, nothing at all. Nevertheless, filled with questions and confusion Ryan decided to press on. This place was only getting odder and odder. There was no telling what he would run into as he continued on.

Zephina trotted heavily as the trio journeyed to the unknown black dot on the horizon.
With each mile, it began to take shape and form into a much larger black dot.
The dot became a mound after a few minutes of riding.

As the team got close enough, Rya could tell what the unknown dot was.
It was a grave.
Well a memorial.

Rya hopped down from Zephina and released her team.
The memorial was a large carven stone. It looked like volcanic rock but Rya couldn't be sure.
It had a message engraved into it.
Well it had many messaged carved into in.

There was one that stood out.

Here he lies.
A warrior. A fighter. The hope of Kanto
With a heart that Blazed brighter than any before.
Life was unfair to take away, Kanto's only true saviour
Blaine

Rya placed her hand upon the stone. Clearly the people of this Island loved this man.
She looked to he base of the stone, it had small tokens of memory placed at the bottom. Though none of these were new. Meaning that no-one had visited the memorial in months, maybe even years.

' Guys, come here. Let's pay our respect before moving on'

Her team came close.
Zephina seemed to understand the situation well but the others just stood silently around her. All except Tai, who began foraging in the tokens people had left for the great leader.

'Tai!' Rya grabbed the Aipom for his hoarding and held him tightly in her arms.
He gripped something tightly in his small hands.
Rya placed him back on the ground and held her hand out to him.
At first Tai refused to give up his prize but Rex managed to get him to give it up.
In Rya's hand he placed a small badge. It was faded but Rya recognised it to be the volcano badge.

Ryan threw his hands in the air in disgust. After what felt like miles of walking, and four stupid quiz machines he was losing his mind. The air was getting thinner, so he knew he was headed up, but where in gods green earth would he find the exit to this mountain. For a fleeting moment the thought of a dead end crossed his mind, but he wiped it just as fast. That was too disappointing a possibility to entertain. There was an exit, he just had to keep going. By now the only member of his team still walking with him was Dio. The others had gotten tired and were having trouble with the stale volcanic air. He couldn't blame them, but he had to keep going, if for nothing else, but his pride. This mountain trek would not be for nothing.

He jammed his hands into his pockets and moved past the latest machine. Dio whined with boredom. He rubbed the Pokémon's head, [b]"It'll be alright bud, just a little bit longer.

A short ways up the path Ryan came across another quiz machine. With a hard sigh he stopped in from of it, brushing off the gathered dust and setting the screen alight. A new question appeared just as it always had before.

Pokémon of the same type and level are not the same.

"Ugh, True!"

With a soft ding the computer shut down like all the others before had. Yet another correct answer, yet another dose of nothing happening. He grunted and continued on. He just wanted to get out of here. This was becoming a great nuisance.

He noticed the turns in the path coming sooner and sooner. This must mean he was approaching the summit. Good, at least he was almost done with this cursed mountain. His heart fell in agony when another quiz came into sight. Behind it was a wall... A dead end. He swore quietly to himself and blew the dust off.

TM 28 contains Tombstoned?

This was the first one he'd actually had to think about. Ryan wasn't a wiz at TMs. Though he was a wiz at Pokémon moves, and Tombstoned was not a real move. False[b]

A ding... and nothing.

Ryan had the urge to scream, but swallowed it. There was no use. Nothing was in this stupid mountain. He patted Dio's head, defeated, and turned around to head back. Hopefully he wouldn't be too late meeting up with Rya.

'CRAAASSHHHH'

The mountain quaked beneath him. Rocks fell from the ceiling. Was the mountain exploding, just like Mt. Moon had? Ryan covered his head and dropped to the ground, pulling Dio back into his Pokéball. Ryan flashed back to Mt. Moon and relived the explosion there. The falling rocks, Osha protecting them, their split with Jack, their rescue by Brock. Everything was hitting him at once, and all he could do was shut his eyes and try and push the memories away.

A minute later the mountain calmed and everything fell silent. Ryan uncurled himself from his position against the wall and slowly opened his eyes. It was so bright. He thought to tell Dio to tone it down, but Dio was in his ball.

He rubbed his eyes vigorously, trying to bring them to focus, and after a few seconds his sight had returned. The huge wall behind the last quiz was gone, and in it's place stood a gigantic hole in the mountain leading straight to open sky. He cautiously walked forward. He wasn't sure if the mountain was settled, or if the floor would fall out from underneath him. Carefully stepping he made his way to the hole and peered out. He was extremely high in the air, and had to make sure to brace himself, to keep the wind from throwing him from the tunnel. He was facing the opposite side of the island from where he and Rya had landed. There were a lot more ruins on this side.

In the distance he could make out an overgrown settlement which must have been Cinnabar City. It was a good mile from the base of the volcano. To his left he spotted his point of entry, by the telltale rocks he remembered. If he had made it this far, how far had Rya made it? He gazed to the left, searching for her, but he knew there was no way he'd be able to spot her from up here.

Eh, it doesn't really matter at this point. His main goal for now was to find a way down the mountain. He wanted to make it to the city if possible.

He tossed a ball, sending Leon sailing into the sky. The bird spun in the air with glee, glad to be in open sky once again.

[b]"Leon, find Rya, and show her where to meet, alright?"
A nod and a coo and the Pidgeotto was off in a tear.

Ryan smiled and looked down the mountain. "Now how do I get down from here?
