Penelope is average. She is of somewhat average height, 5"6, and of average weight, 118 lbs. She has full light pink lips that contrast nicely with her pale skin and are usually parted, bearing her somewhat uneven and large... Teeth. She has a slightly pointed nose and straight dark brown hair that reaches just past her shoulder blades. Her uneven bangs are usually pinned to both sides of her head and brushed over. Thin, defined eyebrows that highlight her forest green eyes and a slender build, Oakley High has yet to see if she has the qualities to be one of the Des Verter girls, or maybe even a cheerleader for her flexibility.

Peneleope's sense of style is casual, nothing too showy. She is always seen with a necklace looped around her neck, it's a gift given to her by her mother. She always enjoys a small accessory to top off any outfit. Scarves, necklaces, earrings, etc.

She tends to bite her nails a lot and she can never say Guatemala. It always comes out as Guatel-mottle. Pen mumbles a lot, too.

Pen is very flexible, personality-wise. She wouldn't dare stand up to someone, even if what they're doing is wrong. Instead, she continues to live her life around the obstacle. She can't help but take everything seriously. After seeing what others have gone through, she can't determine what people mean by joking. She does everything to her best effort. Well, most things. Pen has an extremely low self esteem and gets hurt easily. Though, she doesn't show it. She covers up her hurt with a casual, unsuspecting smile so as not to burden anyone. Penelope can be quite clumsy, which often gets her in trouble. She doesn't believe in luck, as she always seems to run into trouble. She may seem careless at times, though really, she is observant of her surroundings. Pen enjoys humor, it makes her day, even if it's just a little giggle.

Penelope was born in Nebraska, in the small town Ashton. Population, just about 200 people. Going through childhood, her father, Aiden Hersch, was never really there for her. Only her mother, Jules. For those five years of Pen's life, everything seemed fine as it is. Her mother would always pick her up for school just on time. Though, one fine Tuesday morning, her beloved mother never came. Penelope, being the patient person she is, waited. Alas, she could wait no more and returned home. For once, Aiden was home. She soon found out that Jules had abandoned the family. Pen was heart-broken and blamed it on herself. Jules had been the hard worker of the home, and without her, Aiden wouldn't be able to afford whatever he was doing. Aiden began moving all over the state in search of jobs. Pen stopped making friends. At one school, people had found out she liked the same sex (too)and teased her brutally. She went into depression, but soon got over it. She vowed never to tell a soul about it again.

Now, her father found a job in California, requiring him to be away from home for long periods of time. Aiden, not wanting to deal with his daughter, shipped her away to Oakley High Boarding School.
