Oceanside Orphanage

0 INK

These orphans come from many different backgrounds, but they all ended up in the same place. But is there more going on than they originally believed?

1,636 readers have visited Oceanside Orphanage since Aquamarine created it.

Introduction

Image
Image
Oceanside Orphanage was erected in the late 1700's and ever since the building has gone through minor changes along with other buildings being added onto the property. Ever since it was erected there was never a moment in its time that the place wasn't full or close to being full. The staff at Oceanside find it very sad that so many kids go through their lives without an actual family to call their own. Of course throughout the time, the kids who spent any time here grew to call this place their family, they never really knew anyone else.

But of course, every place has its secrets right? Well what would you do if I told you that the secrets of this orphanage were beginning to fall to pieces, many of them were beginning to come out into the open because some of the orphans were out looking for the answers to many different questions. The things they uncover are far from what some of them could have ever imagined. But what exactly is it that they uncover? Will any of them get adopted and have a chance to be in the family that they always wanted? Well, the only way to find out is to climb into their shoes.

Dialogue Color: #00ff66 || Location: Dining Room

ImageJessica sat in the dining room early in the morning eating breakfast, every now and then glancing over at her younger sister who still hasn't said a word since the day they were admitted into the orphanage. Jessica wished she would be able to find out what was always on her sister's mind, but she knew it was a loss cause. Amber never said anything, no matter how much Jessica wanted to hear her little sister's voice it was just useless to get her to speak.

This was one of the many reasons she hated her father so much. The man ruined Amber's life. She didn't care that he ruined her own, all she cared about was her sister. She promised herself she would get Amber out of there the day she turned eighteen, she would adopt her and give her the life she always deserved. The life their parents should have given them.

She lifted her juice pouch up into her hands and took a couple sips from it before setting it back down on the table. Juice pouches were like cigarettes to her. She was addicted to them, point blank. She won't drink anything out of any other container unless she really had to. This was one of her weird quirks that always seemed to get people a little curious about the way she was. Which honestly, she didn't care what people thought.

After sitting there for a few minutes in nothing but silence, she glanced over at her sister again and gave her a soft smile before speaking. "I have a performance tonight. Do you want to come?" she questioned, hoping that her sister would take the offer it would do her some good to get out for a change. She always seemed to coop herself up and always seemed to be alone. It wasn't healthy for a teenager her age. She needed to socialize.

ImageAmber sat at the table with her older sister, trying her best to keep away from eye contact. Her sister always seemed to be looking at her as if she were goingt to break down at any minute, which honestly wasn't going to happen. Amber just didn't want to speak to anyone. She felt guilty about everything that happened and she just couldn't seem to get the picture of her father shooting her mother then turning the gun on her out of her head. It was very traumatizing.

The female sighed a bit as she ate breakfast and stared down at the plate, playing around with her food between bites. She could feel her sister's eyes on her every passing second until finally she spoke. "I have a performance tonight. Do you want to come?" In return, all Amber did was shake her head, she wasn't ready to get out. She didn't even want to leave the girl's room to get breakfast and doing their schooling everyday. What honestly made her sister think that she would go out to a public place?

Amber knew Jessica cared, but there was a difference between caring and being overprotective.

ImageNate was so thankful it was finally Saturday, there were no classes which meant he had the freedom to do as he pleased all day. Which of course meant that he was once again going to go out and try to have sex with women, maybe even try to get a fling with some of the other orphans in the orphanage, it would be an interesting day. He slid his leather jacket on over his white t-shirt and stepped out of the boy's room and headed down to the dining room. He mind as well eat first right? Maybe even mingle a bit?

After getting his food he headed into the sitting area and noticed that Jessica and Amber were the only ones there right now. He sighed and took a seat at one of the empty tables. He already tried getting with Jessica and that didn't turn out very well in the end, he definitely wasn't going to do so again unless he knew what her weaknesses were. As for Amber, she never spoke so that just made things boring all together. Besides, Jessica would murder him if she found out he was trying to get into her little sister's pants.

The male sat there, eating his food and hoping that some of the other girls would come down to the dining room. He needed some entertainment in his life.

ImageNikolai sighed as he watched Nate leave the room. He couldn't believe that the boy was sleeping around with girls as if they were nothing more than placed on the earth to please him. Yeah, he knew it was wrong of him to judge people, but he didn't understand why anyone would do that kind of thing.

The male just shrugged his shoulders and followed Nate out the room and into the dining room. He took a seat at one of the empty tables, finding it useless to sit with Nate, knowing that he would just judge him on his abstinence. Those conversations never seemed to end very well.

As for sitting with Jessica and Amber, he didn't see the point. The two of them looked like they were discussing something and he didn't want to intrude. So once again he sat there, eating breakfast by himself. Something he happened to do almost every morning.

Isabella woke up early as usual. Her hair was tied back in a french braid with little pieces that escaped throughout the night sticking out. She crawled out of her bed quietly and walked over to the bathroom trying to faded in with the shadows that the early morning sung hadn't taken away yet. Once in the bathroom Bee took out the braid letting her long chocolate hair breathe. She very rarely wore her hair down in front of anyone. As she undressed to shower thoughts of the nightmares she's been having reemerged from the back of her mind. She never told anyone why she was really in the orphanage. As she delicately washed over her olive colored body with strawberry body wash she took deep strong breaths trying to calm her nerves. After about fifteen minutes Isabella decided she better get out of the shower before someone wakes up. She wrapped herself in a white fluffy towel and tip toed back into her "Bedroom". Once in the sanctuary of the four small walls she let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding in.

After drying off and getting dressed Isabella looked at the time. "It's already Eight'O'Clock." She gasped and looked in the mirror. Her long chocolate hair fell wavily down her face. She decided not to waste any more time and left it down. She prayed this wouldn't cause unwanted attention. As she walked down the stairs to the dining room she held her head up high and smiled politely at anyone who looked at her. Her footsteps were light but felt so heave to her. As she got closer to the dining room butterflies stormed her stomach. She walked in slowly and sat down at the farthest table. She grabbed a book from one of the tall book shelves and started to read it paying no attention to the other orphans. Hm Maybe this is why no one approached her.

ImageDiamond got out of the car, biting her bottom lip a little nervously as she looked up at the building in front of her. "It'll be alright, Diamond." Her social worker says, her voice a little too chipper for Diamond's liking. "You'll really like it here." She continued, opening the trunk of the car. Diamond huffed quietly, grabbing her luggage out of the trunk. At least she was able to keep some of her belongings, she couldn't imagine having to wear some of the cheap clothes she'd seen other kids at her school wearing. She grabbed out two of the five, light pink, Louis Vuitton suitcases. The case worker opened her mouth as if to say something, but closed it once more, shaking her head slightly. The woman had tried to get Diamond to limit her wardrobe to one bag, two at the most, but Diamond wasn't having any of that, she can throw pretty impressive tantrums when she has to. "I-I'm not sure there will be enough room for all your luggage dear." The social worker said cautiously as she grabbed two more of the bags.

Diamond looked at the worker like she was crazy, "There's hardly anything here." She argued, and to her there wasn't, considering she'd had two rather large walk in closets before all of this. The social worker sighed, shaking her head once more before leading the way to the front door of the orphanage. A few moments later, the door was opened by a rather pretty middle aged woman with long brunette hair. "Oh, you must be Diamond." She said, giving Diamond a kind smile. "I'm Heidi, welcome to Oceanside." She said as Diamond and the social worker walked into the entryway of the building. Diamond didn't say anything, her eyes quickly scanning her surroundings as the woman, Heidi, talked to her social worker. When Heidi turned back to Diamond, the social worker went to retrieve Diamond's last piece of luggage out of the car for her.

Heidi gave Diamond a quick tour of the orphanage, when they got to the girls' room, Diamond's eyes widened, finding out she'd be sharing a room with at least six other girls. "Wait, you're serious?" She asked in disbelief, seeing all the beds in the room, some with girls still sleeping in them, a sinking feeling settling into the pit of her stomach. Heidi didn't comment Imageon Diamond's disbelief, knowing all about the girl's entitled life, who her parents had been, she'd actually been a fan of Diamond's mother. "Just set your bags by your bed and I'll take you to the dinning area so you can meet some of the other kids." Heidi said, giving her a kind smile. Diamond sighed, walking over to an empty bed and setting her bags on top of it.

Heidi then led Diamond to the dinning area, where she saw three girls and two guys. "Good morning guys." Heidi said to the orphans already gathered. "I'd like you to meet Diamond. I'm sure you'll make her feel welcome." She said, giving Diamond a reassuring smile. Diamond glanced at the four occupied table, one with two girls, the two guys were sitting at separate tables, and there was another girl sitting by herself reading a book. "If you need anything I'm sure Jessica wouldn't mind helping you out." Heidi added, nodding her head in Jessica's direction, showing Diamond which of the girls she was referring to. "A-alright," She stammered slightly, feeling very overwhelmed by everything.

Heidi turned and walked away, leaving Diamond with the others. Her hand immediately went to the gold, heart shaped locket around her neck, fiddling with it nervously, glancing around the room once more before slowly making her way over to the table with the two girls. "Hi," She said a little lamely, glancing between the two. Normally, Diamond was anything but shy, but after everything that's happened these past two weeks, she kind of feels like she's been tossed into the ocean, getting tossed around by the waves, and she doesn't like it one bit, feeling rather disoriented. On some level she still hopes that this is all just a bad dream, one that she'll wake up from very, very soon.

Another night reliving the moment she was told that her mother had taken her own life. Another night remembering how it felt to finally be alone and lose both parents. Three hours of interrupted sleep would quickly take it's toll on Lucy today. Rolling over onto her side, Lucy moaned gently under her breath. Was it really worth getting up? It was a Saturday. That meant no schooling, no homework and she had no plans in the social world whatsoever. But, the other orphans wouldn't let her sleep in - either by keeping her awake with their noise or by trying to be 'supportive' and encouraging her to get out of bed. It was easier just to drag herself out from under her covers, momentarily lingering on the annoying fact that she had unfitted her bedsheets during her night terrors. Great. She hated having to try and stretch those things back over the corners of her mattress.

Lucy padded barefoot over to her vanity desk, plonked herself down on the plush vintage style chair and stared at her red rimmed eyes and bed messed hair in the mirror. What a mission. She quickly set about taming her blonde curls and pinning them away from her face, secured with a wide alice band. Once that was done, she applied just a touch of make up to remove the drowsiness from her eyes and changed into a white blouse, sky blue cardigan and navy skinny jeans. That should be enough for them, right?

Deciding she was dressed enough, Lucy made her way into the dining room kitchen where the other orphans were already awake and eating. "Morning..." she mumbled, waving absent mindedly at the table of orphans. What sad life we all have... She helped herself to a bowl of cereal and cold milk then perched on the edge of the kitchen counter, checking her Facebook on her phone. She preferred to keep herself to herself most days, but there were always those who wanted to converse at this ungodly hour. Who was awake so far? There was Isabella, Nikolai, Nate and the cute Fitz sisters. The quiet one, Amber, was classically beautiful Lucy thought. But, Jessica? She was something else. Since she got here, Lucy couldn't help the occasional 'oggle' at the more talkative sister.

But, she was not in the mood for flirting this morning and as the two girls were already in conversation, Lucy sipped coffee in between bites of cereal, and moved from checking her Facebook on her mobile to scrolling through her Tumblr. Just a tad gadget happy. As she did, Heidi entered the room followed by a social worker and a rather preppy looking posh girl. Huh...she looked like a brat. Not normally someone that Lucy made an effort to speak to, but if the girl came to here it wouldn't be an issue. Lucy could play polite.

A small groan escaped Lena's lips as she rolled over in bed. It was always hard for her to get up in the morning sure, she was always the first one out of the girls up but she never felt better until she had been up for awhile. She quietly climbed out of bed, undoing her arm band and putting it on the nightstand next to her bed. She carried her small insulin pump with her to her trunk. She pulled out one of the dresses she made.

The sun was just starting to rise as she hurried into the bathroom. She waited until she was inside to turn it on. She undressed and changed into the dress. She pulled the pump through her armhole and stored it in the pocket of her dress. She sighed softly. Even the other kids around there treated her like a freak because she was sick. She could still do everything they did. She just had to be careful. She left her PJs on her bed before creeping downstairs.

She said good morning Robin on her way out. It was kinda a habit of hers to go outside and watch the sunrise over the water. She had been there for so long, Lena got away with a lot. But it's not like she didn't follow the rules, she just had been following them for so long that they let some things so to give her a little more freedom. And it wasn't like they didn't know where she was. She did they every morning since she was about ten.

Lena sat outside for a long while. This it when she got ideas for her different outfits, she drew the patterns in the sand with her fingers to get an idea of how she would need to piece it together. She smiled at the drawing of a peasant top. She's pair it with a nice fitted pant and maybe some sandals. Pulling her insulin pump out of her dress, she looked at the time on it. 7:15 AM. She hadn't meant to stay out there that long. She put the device back into her pocket and hopped up.

Brushing the sand off outside, she finally went inside and washed her hands before making herself a plate. She took a seat across from the new girl and smiled at her. She couldn't remember when she was first brought here, but she knew it was harder the older you got.

"Hi, I'm Lena. That's Jessica and Amber, they're sisters." She explained, glancing over at them. Those two always seemed to be in their own world. "Hey guys." She said to them, hoping to draw their attention to the new girl. Sure, Amber didn't talk but she would at least smile.

'Why does morning have to be so hellish?' Grace thought to herself, keeping her eyes shut even though the light from the window was falling directly in her eyes. She frowned, opening her eyes as she sat up. "I'm up, I'm up." She muttered to the sun as if it was her own personal alarm clock. She climbed out of bed and struggled off her pjs, not bothering to leave the room. They were all girls. She grabbed a pair of jean shorts and slid them on. She was just buttoning up a plaid shirt with the sleves ripped off when she saw Ms. Heidi and this new girl walk in.

She didn't bother buttoning the lower buttons when she heard the girl ask Heidi if she was serious. She just tied it in a knot. "You can bet you're bleach blonde hair she's serious." She said dryly, walking out of the room sandals not even buckled up. Rich girls. Sure, Grace was one herself but at least she didn't come out all high and mighty when she got here. Her parents had just been murdered and none of their friends wanted her, even though they'd get money to keep her. She knew she hit rock bottom. She couldn't stand girls like Diamond who hit rock bottom and didn't realize it yet.

Taking two stairs at a time, she hurried downstairs into the kitchen. Her eyeliner was smudged from where she left it on the night before, and she couldn't care less. She made a plate of eggs, bacon and carefully positioned a bowl of cereal on her plate and carried a mug of coffee- black like her soul- over to Lucy. She set her stuff to the side and hopped up on the counter next to her, sipping her coffee.

Glancing at the Tumblr feed, she nodded her head in support of what she was looking at. "I made some more jewelry last night before bed. Can you help take pictures in the best light and upload it to Etsy?" She asked Lucy. They were far beyond pleasantries by now. In fact, Grace liked Lucy so much that she would call Lucy horrible things, though the other girl- hopefully- knew she meant them lovingly. When she said she hated someone, especially to their face, it meant she loved them.

She picked up her plate and started eating. She waved her fork at Diamond when Lena- the princess and longest resident of Oceanside tried to include her. "We've met."

Zach, as usual, was the last one out of bed. He had fallen asleep in his jeans and his shirt. He sniffed at himself. No smell. He was good. He sat up and slid on his tennis shoes. He laced them up quickly. Before going downstairs, he made a pit stop in the bathroom. He wasn't surprised to see all the faces that had greeted for the last five months. He was surprised to see a new blonde among the girls.

He shook his head. This place was going to go on overload with all these girls around. Then again he was used to living with girls. His dad left when he was only ten. Zach had always been really interested in dance and since his mother was a teacher, he was always learning. His dad thought that was a waste of time and even assumed that he was gay because he liked to dance and he was good at it. He didn't care too much about his dad and was much happier living in a orphanage than with that scumbag. The last two years with his mom, she suffered with leukemia so he spent a lot of time taking care of her and trying to find his dad to help. She just wanted to see him one last time. But the jerk didn't even bother to show up to her funeral.

He figured he was better off. After grabbing a plate, he sat down at the table with Nik. He liked the other boys just fine, but Nikolai was easier to get a long with than Nate. Nate seemed only to have one goal. Sleep with all the girls. He wouldn't doubt if he tried it with Heidi or Robin at least once. He gave Nik a short nod and started drinking some water. "There's a dance competition today. Think you can help me map it out on the bus route?" He asked. The one thing his mother asked of him was to keep dancing. He wouldn't break that promise with her.

Jessica looked up at Heidi when she entered the dining room with a newcomer. The girl looked extremely bratty but Jessica knew she would have to deal with it. Since she was one of the most friendly people at Oceanside, she was always the person Heidi went to to show the newcomers around. Which she didn't really mind having the responsibility, she just wished Heidi would beImageable to trust some of the others with it as well. Of course that would be far from ever happening because of the way some of the others were, but she always had that small bit of hope in her.

Jessica glanced over at Diamond when she finally stepped over to the table. Though just before she had the chance to respond to her, "Hi," Lena walked over and beat her to the punch, introducing everyone who was already at the table. And once again, she wasn't able to speak when Grace approached the table. She didn't really mind the two of them speaking to Diamond first, but Jessica just wished she could at least get a word in.

Finally after sitting there for a couple moments in silence, she was able to speak. "I know how tough it can be getting used to this place. But you'll get used to it whether you want to or not. After breakfast I can show you around if you'd like, or if you'd rather explore by yourself that's always fine too," Jessica stated before sipping from her juice pouch once again.

After waiting on hearing Diamond's answer, she turned to all of the girls at the table, including Diamond and spoke up once more, "I was wondering if you guys wanted to tag along to my performance I have tonight. It's going to be at the park, I'm hoping to have at least one person there to support me. Of course if you all are busy, I understand. Another performance by myself won't kill me."Image
Deep down Jessica was a bit nervous asking Grace, Lena, and Diamond to attend her performance, especially Diamond since she doesn't really know her. But she figured that maybe it would be nice for Diamond to some how feel included. Of course if she made it completely obvious she wanted to be left alone, Jessica would do just that because she never wanted to make someone feel uncomfortable.

At that moment, she noticed that Nate was glancing over at the table where the five of them were sitting. He was staring at Diamond like he had a purpose of pursuing her. The brunette sighed and rolled her eyes before looking over at Diamond as if to warn her in case Nate was someone she didn't want to deal with. "Not trying to cut into your personal business, but just wanted to warn you about that guy over there," she pointed over at Nate. "His name is Nate, he's the player here at Oceanside. He looks interested in you. So just wanted to warn you in case he was someone you didn't want to deal with. If it's that case, I'd tread lightly if I were you."

After warning Diamond, she glanced back over at Nate, finding that he noticed what she was doing. Nate looked over at her with an unpleasant look, but honestly she didn't care. At least she warned the girl about him. If she wanted to be around him after that, it was on her, at least Jessica warned her.

The second Heidi stepped into the dining room with little Miss Princess standing beside her, she immediately knew she wasn't going to like her. Just by the way she dressed and held herself she could tell that Diamond seemed to care about nothing but herself. Those were the kind of girls she always wanted to keep away from. The drama just wasn't worth it.ImageWhen Diamond made her way over to the table and gave her, "Hi," the girl waved her hand at her and rose to her feet just when Lena made her way over and introduced everyone. The table was beginning to get too crowded, she never really liked being around so many people. Though the moment Grace made her presence, she knew it was more than time for her to get up and leave before she had one of her silent episodes.

With the tray in her hands, Amber walked away from the table and dropped her trash in the trashcan before setting the tray on top of the trashcan and walked out of the dining room as she slid the headphones back over her ears. Amber heard about a dance competition that was going to happen later today and hoped that she would be able to attend, to at least watch the dancers. She was far from ready to be the center of attention, it would probably just make her have a breakdown. But then again, almost everything makes her break down these days.

The very moment she was out of sight from all of the other orphans and the staff, she started dancing down the hallway and made her way outside by the water. This was her favorite place to dance and just cut loose, be herself again. Of course if anyone caught her dancing, she probably would find a different place but as of right now, this was the perfect spot. Amber always came out here when everyone was at meals or busy doing homework so she would have the time to be alone.
Image
As she was dancing, she noticed drawings in the sand, she crouched down in order to get a better look at them and noticed it was clothing doodles. Lena must have been out here earlier. But then again that was never surprising. Ever since she met Lena, she knew that she came out here every morning to have her alone time as well. Thankfully the two of them have never crossed paths while they just wanted to be alone.

Amber sighed as she stood back up and started dancing again. She hoped that she would be able to be comfortable around crowds again, but ever since her father ruined the rest of her life, she couldn't seem to be the center of attention again. The entire town knew about what happened. At least the ones who paid attention to the news and were old enough to understand what happened. If she is able to collect herself and be in public again without worrying about being judged, she would be able to get up in front of crowds and dance again.

The brunette heard that one of the orphans was entering the competition, but she wasn't exactly sure who it was. Maybe she'd find out if she is brave enough to step out of the orphanage to attend this competition. Which she would honestly doubt since she isn't even comfortable being with her own sister in public yet. But, things could always change, right?

Dialogue Color: Sea Green || Location: Dining Room

Nate smirked when he noticed Isabella step into the dining room. She was one of the few girls he hadn't spoken to yet. So maybe it was time to make himself known to her. So that was exactly what he was going to do. He stood to his feet and made his way over towards her and sat down at the table across from her. "Sorry to interrupt, it looks like you're quite enjoying that book. ButImagejust figured I mind as well give you some company since no one else seemed interested in doing so." At that moment, everyone in the dining room was interrupted by Heidi, introducing a new girl to the ever growing family of unfortunate kids. He was honestly shocked there hasn't been incredibly young kids here in a while. Which he didn't really mind. Kids were highly annoying and always seemed to get into things they shouldn't.

The moment Nate landed his eyes upon the newcomer, he sent a wicked smirk her way. Whether she noticed the smirk or not was a different matter all together, but he just couldn't help himself. She was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. But of course, the second he heard that Jessica was going to be the one basically mentoring her for the next couple days he sighed. Every time a girl came to the orphanage, Jessica warned them about him. Most of the time it worked, though some of them still didn't seem to care. Nate just hoped Diamond was going to be one of those girls.

When Heidi walked out and Diamond approached the table with Jessica and her technical mute sister, he sighed and returned his attention back to Isabella who still hadn't seemed to have said a word to him. "So, what's the book about?" he questioned, once again trying to strike up conversation.
Image
Nate noticed that her hair was down, something that didn't happen very often and it just made Isabella look so much more beautiful than he originally thought she was. Times like this he wished he had spoken to her sooner instead of hoping that one of these days Jessica would give in. But he knew that was a lost cause. The other girls, they were a bit difficult as well. He would have to feel them out and figure out how to get into their vulnerabilities, which was going to take some time. But of course, if he wanted the girl hard enough, he would work hard until they finally just give in. Some times taking a break from them in the long run if needed and focusing his attention on a different girl.

Nate knew that once he was around Nikolai, he would give Nate his daily lecture about waiting until marriage, and blah, blah, blah. He just wished that Nikolai would understand he isn't like him. Nik can lecture him all he wants, nothing he says will ever settle in Nate's brain. It hasn't so far, so what makes the guy believe it ever would.

Nate could sense that Jessica was beginning the warning lecture with Diamond. Which he was spot on about. He glanced over at the girl's table for a quick second and noticed Jessica pointing over towards him. He gave her a disgusted look before looking back over at Isabella, hoping that she would at least say something.

Dialogue Color: Purple || Location: Dining Room

Nikolai was met by Zachary in the dining room just as Heidi stepped in with a new girl. He shook his head, immediately feeling pity for the girl. He knew that Nate was going to go after her sooner or later, he always did with the new girls. Which meant it was time for another talk with the guy. But now wasn't the best time. He would get to it some time that day though.Image

After listening to Heidi introduce Diamond to the steadily growing group of teenagers, he moved his attention over to Zach who seemed to have something he wanted to talk to him about. Of course it involved dance, just as he thought it would. "Yeah, sure. I'll help out. Where is this competition anyway?" he questioned as he took a bite from his muffin and set it back down on his plate.

He's been trying his best to keep his thoughts of what happened the night before to himself, but it was a bit difficult to do. He wanted to find out if anyone else was experiencing anything weird lately. For the past couple of weeks, it seemed as if the building was taking on a life of its own. At that thought he shook his head, this is just some Rose Red crap, there was no way that was true. I just need to stop watching so many horror movies, he thought to himself before letting out a soft sigh and leaned back against the back of the chair as he tried his best to focus on the conversation with Zach.

Nikolai was actually stoked that Zachary wasn't going to let anything stand in the way of making his dreams of dancing come true. He wished some of the others here had that mind set as well. At least they would attempt at trying to move on and start the life they all truly deserved. Though the main one he always seemed to worried about was Amber. The poor girl never spoke and she always pushed herself away from everyone. He wanted to help, he just wasn't sure how to do it.
Image
Nikolai overheard Jessica warning Diamond about Nate. Which honestly wasn't that difficult to do since his table was right beside theirs, just close enough to overhear a few things. He just hoped the blonde would take Jessica's advice, she was always so smart and knew just how to handle certain things a lot more than most of them who ended up here. Nikolai quite enjoyed having talks with Jessica because out of everyone else in this place, she seemed to be the only one who knew exactly where he was coming from. They thought more alike than anyone else truly believes.

"I feel bad for Diamond, you know Nate is going to end up attempting to pursue her. I just hope she is smart enough not to let him get to her. All he's going to end up doing is breaking her heart," he stated, completely changing the subject. Which he didn't really mean to do. He was still going to help Zach, he just couldn't keep that thought to himself. "I wish I could find out why Nate is the way he is, so that maybe I could help him grow to change into the better person I know he can be deep down. Sorry, I'm rambling again aren't I?" he stated as he returned his attention to Zachary.

As Isabella's golden brown eyes scanned each word from her book until something caught her attention. No, not something, someone. Nate Saintjames to be more exact. She pealed her eyes off the intense page in her book to show him some sort of attention. She gave a polite smile and smirked at him. As she was about to reply back to him Heidi walked into the room with a blonde haired girl. Isabella never paid much attention to the other people in the orphanage she pretty much kept to herself just like Amber. The only difference is Isabella talked but only when talked to. She was never the one to strike up a conversation with someone else.
Isabella looked up as Nate was sending the new girl Diamond a wicked smirk that sent shivers down her spine. The rumors seemed right, he was a player. Not that Isabella minded she could use a friend and she knew she wasn't much of Nate's type.
Image
As Hedi walked over to Jessica's table it reminded Isabella of her first day there. Everyone was very welcoming but it wasn't the genuine welcome. It was the fake 'Oh we are so glad we got to meet you', 'Why are you here', 'You seem so nice'. And of course all of the warnings of who to hangout with and who to avoid. Nate was on the top of the list of people to avoid.
Isabella was doing a great job of lying under the radar until today. As she was stuck in her thoughts as Nate caught her attention once again asking her what her book is about. This caused Isabella to pause and made her think diligently on what she was about to say. " Its about a women who moves to a new house in the middle of the no where with her abusive husband. He ends up dying on the first day there due to his excessive drinking problem. He suffocated in his sleep and his wife went delusional. Its pretty gruesome." She laughed and waited to read his facial expression.Isabella had always been an exceptional reader of people. It was a gift most people would say. But to Isabella it was more of an annoying habit of hers.
Isabella took off the oversized mahogany sweat shirt she was wearing. She fixed the perfectly fitted white tank top that clung to her body like a second skin. She moved her long chocolate brown hair to the side and fixed her gaze back on Nate. She gave him a bright smile showing off her pearly white teeth and laughed lightly waiting for his response. "You don't strike me as much of a reader." She rose her eyebrow and smirked at him causing her to give him a playful eye roll. Image
Isabella looked around and noticed Nikolai and Zach talking at one table and the rest of the girls at another table. She wondered why Nate would sit with her. For over a year she sat by herself in the corner of the dining room reading a book or drawing. Most of her time was spent either working out or in her bedroom. So why was today so different. Of course she knew she was overthinking everything like she always did. She took in a deep breath and let it out lightly. She shifted in her seat and pulled her leggings down as she made herself more comfortable in her seat. She put her feet up on the chair across from her allowing her light brown boots to rest considering they were already hurting her feet.

Poor girl. That man whore was already eyeballing her, as well as having to suffer through the traditional farce greetings that one was offered on their first day. Lucy remembered hers all too well - depressed and suicidal, she spent most of it in tears or bleeding on the bathroom floor. For the majority of her 'settling in time' here she was drugged up; sent into a 'calm' state through anti anxiety medication or anti depressants. But, that was in the past. Although, as she set down her phone and absent mindedly stroked the wide, still pink scars littered across one of her forearm, she realised how easily she could end up in that state of mind.

Lucy was dragged out of her rather sad train of thought by a rather close friend of hers. Grace's cheerful voice was something that Lucy was incredibly grateful for, especially at this moment in time. She nudged the girl with her elbow and offered her a warm smile; her usual greeting for who she would call the closest thing to a best friend. "Hey bitch, what do you need me for now?" she teased, winking at the girl. "I made some more jewellery last night before bed. Can you help take pictures in the best light and upload it to Etsy?
"Ahh yeh. Should have known you'd want something!" Lucy loved teasing Grace - they had that kind of relationship. The kind where they could tease and sass each other and know that neither truly meant it. At least not in a negative way.

Grace was probably the only girl here that could coax Lucy out of a stupor and give a positive attitude to the otherwise sour girl. Lucy would probably go as far to say she felt something more towards her, but convinced herself that she didn't. Smirking to herself, she collected her bowl and cup and moved them to the sink, scrubbed them clean then dried them and popped them away where she found them. She was a very clean housemate, trying to make as little mess as possible. Despite adoring Grace, taking the photos sounded like a very energy consuming task. Grace was always so bright and excited about it, and Lucy just struggled to summon that energy. With a sigh, she turned and offered a bright smile to Grace.

"Alright, let's do this!"

Diamond glanced between Jessica and Amber for a brief moment, feeling a little self conscious, something she's not used to. She's been feeling a lot of things unfamiliar to her over these past couple weeks. When another girl walked over to the table, Diamond mustered up a smile. "Hi," She repeated as the girl, Lena, introduced herself and the other two girls, Imageapparently sisters. Diamond's attention was drawn to another girl as she sat down, one she'd seen earlier when Heidi had been showing her around. She frowned slightly, remembering their short interaction, just as Amber got up and left the table. 'Hmmm, guess she's not one for crowds,' Diamond thought, watching the brunette walk away.

When Jessica spoke up, inviting them to a performance later on that night at the park. Diamond smiled, glad to be invited as well. "A performance?" She asked curiously. "Are you a musician?" Diamond had always loved watching her mom perform, it was like she was a completely other person while on stage, more than just her mother, but a woman who was adored by millions of fans.

Diamond was pulled from her thoughts when Jessica spoke up once more, she glanced over at the guy that she pointed out, calling him out as a player. Diamond had to admit the guy was good looking, definitely the type of guy she'd go for, but she was a little put off by Jessica's words. She had no intentions of becoming some guy's play thing, but she was never one to judge someone based off of what other's thought. She liked to make her own judgement before deciding whether or not to be friends with someone. "Thanks for the warning," She said, her eyes lingering on Nate a moment longer before turning back to Jessica. She planned on getting to know the guy, but she would also keep her guard up, she had never been just a one time thing or a fling, and she didn't plan on starting now.

ImageJessica was honestly surprised at Diamond's sudden interest in her performance. She didn't seem to be the kind of girl who would be interested in something like this unless it was a huge, popular concert. But then again, who was she to judge?

"A performance? Are you a musician?" "Well, kind of. I just sing. I've been trying to get known around so I could start a career in music. Been singing for years now. You can come if you'd like. I know it would probably be nice to get out," Jessica answered.

As much as she appreciated Diamond's interest in her music, she wished Amber was interested like she used to be. Here lately all she seemed to be interested in was being alone. It worried her.
Image
When Diamond thanked Jessica for the warning about Nate, she just nodded her head and glanced around at the other girls. Wondering what they were thinking about her performance. The last few they hadn't attended, but she figured they would want to get out tonight as well. But if no one wanted to go she wasn't going to force them to. It would just be nice to have some support.

She lifted the juice pouch back up to her mouth again and took a couple sips from it before setting it back down on the table and taking a couple bites from her cereal. Many times in the past Amber would question why she would have juice when there was milk in her cereal, but Amber never understood. Jessica needed to have a juice pouch at every meal and frequently throughout the day or she wouldn't feel like herself. It was a strange thing, she knew it but she didn't care what people thought of it. It was who she was.
