Paris: the epicenter of fine art, dining, and class. Culture resonates through the very foundation of the city; in the wide, tree lined boulevards, in the narrow cobblestone alleys, and, of course, within the charming cafes and designer boutiques threaded along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

The city lures in young romantics from across the globe, hoping to find themselves in architecture twined with history and elegance or a glimpse of purpose in the twinkling Seine river. Or, perhaps, in a chance encounter with an ephemeral muse. Many find new facets of themselves in this bustling city drenched in charm and sophistication.

Whatever the purpose of the visit, however, there remains one unshakable truth: For however long or fleeting the stay, Paris becomes a part of any who enter and breathe the unmistakable perfume of a city so full of life.

The École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) is a highly competitive university in the instruction of the arts. Located across the Seine from the Musée du Louvre in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, it is the ideal location for budding artists.

As a distinguished and elite institution, artists of all walks of life vie for admission. Whether it be paints and canvas or stage time and critique, students are supplied with the tools and resources necessary to help further their talents. Those enrolled are offered life changing opportunities that would otherwise remain unavailable to them. The institution provides promising students with an audience of great influence in their chosen field and ensures a high employment rate after graduation. French citizens have an obvious advantage in enrollment, but this year the school is pushing for cultural awareness and acceptance, reaching out to other art institutions across the globe and offering students a chance to transfer and learn in a city of such rich, artistic history.

As a part of ENSBA’s goal to challenge and diversify their students, each transfer student will be paired with a local of promising talent. Together they must work together on, and finish by the end of the semester, a collaborative piece highlighting both student's talents. Their assigned partner is not chosen at random, but instead pulled from a small pool of students who volunteered. Students are not generally provided housing, but those involved in the transfer program will be provided a rental studio, a great incentive considering the exceptionally expensive cost of living in Paris.

This limited offer will be available to ten students; five global transfers and five locals. A five bedroom suite in an attractive location near the Luxembourg garden will be provided for those qualified.

Stay in the boundaries of this website's rules. No one wants to read explicit smut or gore. That's what fanfiction's for.

As far as reservations go, please use the ooc tab. I would appreciate it if you would include a brief synopsis of your character (gender, major, etc.), along with your request

Don’t feel pressured to choose the same major as someone else in order to ensure you’re paired up, I’m not going to be selecting transfer/local pairings based on similar majors (if there is a specific partner you would like feel free to pm me)

Be vocal in general in the ooc tab. We like feedback and collaboration when it comes to plotlines and such.

There’s really no length requirement, I’m a firm believer in quality over quantity. I do, however, think it’s nearly impossible to write a satisfying post in a single line. But who knows? Maybe you’ll surprise me

An upsetting trend I've seen recently on this site is kicking people from a roleplay if they don’t post by a deadline. Don't stress about that. This RP was designed as a source of entertainment, not anxiety. We're pretty chill

If you do find that you will be unable to post for an extended period, let us know in the ooc tab. I’d hate for anyone to think you just up and abandoned us

I'd like for all characters to have a hex code, inform us of your code choice in either a pm or through the ooc tab

Take full advantage of the ooc tab. Collaboration is what makes these roleplays so much fun!

"... Door 301," glittering green slid from crumpled paper in hand to metal plaque affixed to a sturdy wooden door. His small smile of victory slipped from Basile's face as his key fumbled out of his grasp and he cursed under his breath, "Merde!" Stooping down, Basile glanced both ways, relived his folly was left unnoticed. Clearing his throat and brushing off his knees as he stood, the ginger quickly unlocked the door and made to enter... Only to find himself stuck. "Merde," he all but whined as his overstuffed duffle and suitcase refused to budge from their snug position in the doorframe. Basile tugged a few futile times before he collected himself and pulled, sending himself stumbling through the narrow doorway with his freed luggage.

Basile side eyed the door with as much seething heat as he could muster and straightened. Lifting his chin, the ginger lugged his bags through the short entrance hall and gave a low whistle. The place was definitely smaller than he imagined, but the two story windows were a definite nice touch. Basile set his stuff down by the spiral staircase and wandered further into the living area.

"Anyone here?" Answered with silence, Basile decided to get more aquatinted with his new home. The floor was a lovely polished wood and the upholstery a supple black leather. Basile smiled as his hand trailed along the back of the couch and he wandered towards the wall of windows. He couldn't help but grin; they had an absolutely stunning view of the Luxembourg gardens. Turning to face the direction he'd entered, Basile found the kitchen and dining table nuzzled under the extended loft. It was all very modern. He could definitely get used to this.

According to the crumpled page still clutched in his hand, Basile's room was upstairs. Grabbing his bags, he all but jogged up the spiral staircase. There were three bedrooms upstairs, and he was assigned the one furthest to the right. There were two windows, one on either side of the door, which, to be quite frank, was rather odd. Windows on the inside...? Though he did suppose he'd rather have a view of the inside of the apartment than the hallway.

Basile was pleased to find he was the first to arrive as he walked through the door and threw his duffle on the bed to the right. First come first serve! He quickly began unpacking, his clothes taking up the majority of the meager closet space. No need to fret, he left enough room for his roomate. Maybe not quite half... But enough.

Posters soon covered the wall his bed was snug against and green leafy houseplants took over his windowsill and dresser. Taking a step back, Basile allowed himself to admire his handiwork. He was nowhere near completely settled in, but he was doing a fine job so far.

Adeline was glad the building had an elevator, if they hadn't she would've been forced to drag all of her luggage up three sets of stairs in order to get to her new dormitory. She was amazed at how much stuff she had. She hadn't realized how much random crap she owned until she'd started packing up her room.

"I wonder if anyone else has this much stuff in their possession..."

Looking up at the door before her, she was excited to see that the plaque read 301, which meant she wasn't lost. Adeline opened the door quietly and carefully walked inside, not wanting to scare anyone who may have gotten there first.

Adeline surveyed her surroundings, making notes in her head about random things like how big the kitchen was and what fabric the furniture was made of. It was the view from the huge windows that caught her gaze. The Luxembourg gardens - beautiful as always - were framed almost perfectly by the flawlessly clean wall of glass. The view was one thing she hadn't had before, at home or her old dorm.

Well, at least I'm here to enjoy it and not at home or otherwise.

It looked as if no one else had gotten there yet, and according to the paper she'd memorized earlier her bedroom was on the second floor, so she lugged her things up the stairs and went about trying to remember which one was hers. It was the middle room, which was somehow pleasing to her off and ecstatic mind.

The room wasn't too big nor too small, which Adeline liked. She'd grown up with a huge bedroom and had always been surrounded by too much space, whereas her old dorm room had been tiny, with barely room to walk around due to her abundance of belongings. This size was absolutely perfect for her.

Adeline didn't want to do anything that might upset her new roommate, so she simply left her bags in a neat pile by the door, then walking back out into the hall. She'd find something to do eventually. Curiously enough, she could hear footsteps coming from the room next to her. Quietly she stepped to the door and stood beside it in wait. After what may have been a long or short amount of time, a very tall boy exited, and Adeline proceeded to scare him senseless with a loud shout.

"Je suis désolée! I just knew someone else was here and couldn't help myself~"

Adeline smiled wide and took a fanciful bow, trying to imply sarcasm with her actions. "My name is Adeline Baudin, and its awfully nice to meet you kind sir~" She straightened herself and laughed lightly before waving and skipping off down the hall, not even giving him a chance to answer before she was gone.

From what she could tell, everything in the dormitory was rather modern, from the leather furniture in the parlor to the chrome appliances in the kitchen. Modern was nice. It was a relief that they didn't have old furniture that would break every other day and such, it was quite annoying when things did that.

Hm, I wonder where everyone else is...oh well, I guess I just got here early~

Adeline plopped down onto the couch and pulled out her phone, snapping a picture of the view from the window and sending it to both her sisters.

Sterling settled against the polyester taxi-cab seat, mentally willing away the headache that began to bloom. After the painful experience of air travel (including a minor incident involving Sterling, an idiot passenger, and their incessant kicking her chair), she allowed herself to splurge a bit and take a taxi instead of trying to decipher the complex Paris Metro with all her luggage. She wasn’t a masochist. She also didn’t have the patience for the bullshit all public transportation brought. Her souring mood made the cheaper option unbearable.

Watching the gorgeous architecture of the city blur (and largely unimpressed by it), the cab maneuvered through winding streets and heavy traffic. Although the ride seemed to last forever, the driver didn’t feel the need to fill the compact car with conversation, which suited Sterling just fine. As plain white car slowed to a stop in front of the vast building; “That will be 32 Euros, mademoiselle,” informed the balding driver.

Digging through her oversized, overstuffed bag, Sterling successfully located her wallet among the debri. She nodded toward the man as she handed him the fare, scowling over the loss. She would need to convert more dollars into euros at this rate. Pulling herself out of the cab while lugging a carpetbag, purse, and pillow, Sterling was silently relieved that the driver was kind enough to unload her eyesore suitcase and giant portfolio. So relieved that she bothered with a “Merci” toward the driver. Situating her luggage, she entered the modern, air-conditioned building and found her way to the elevators.

Waiting for the elevator to reach her floor, Sterling located the package ENBSA had sent with all the necessary information and room key. Slipping the key into her pocket and rereading the slip of paper with the suite number and room location, she felt confident in surviving the last step of travel.

Dragging the deadweight of all her worldly possessions, Sterling fumbled with the key, cursing quite loudly, until the door clicked open. Not giving much of a fuck about the apartment’s furnishings and layout, she briskly advanced into the suite, pushing the door closed with her foot. Sterling ignored the blonde who was getting cozy with the couch, in favor of dragging her shit up spiral staircase. “Motherfucking shit fuckers, who designed dumbass, two story suites,” she muttered harshly as her suitcase wheels banged against each step.

The ordeal was soon over, and she was out of breath. Sterling ought to exercise more, but she loved herself too much to put herself through the pain of working out. Reaching the right-most room, Sterling dropped her portfolio and floral carpetbag onto the ground against the wall. She was more gentle with placing her purse on top of her suitcase and pillow. Stomping into her new room, Sterling faced a tall ginger. She gave him and the room a perfunctory once-over before leaving. First impression-wise, she didn’t like him. He looked snobbish and pretentious. The room, however, suited her (the plants were a nice touch). Although Sterling was used to sharing a room with two other boys, so she knew how to work with small spaces.

Mierda.”

Swinging open the door again, Sterling hauled in all her crap. Decidedly ignoring the confused roommate to situate her luggage on the bed as a staging point for unpacking.

Cecile felt like barfing when she sat down on the train to get from her small town to the big city, Paris. She looked at her backpack full of her art supplies, and her suitcase full of clothes, and other necessary things- Like candy. The train was pretty rough, since it halted every 10 seconds, and made this annoying sound every time a person got out their seat. Cecile held onto her bag and suitcase carefully, not wanting her poor tablet to be crushed if she dropped her bag when the train halted. Thirty minutes later, Cecile stepped off the the train, like a drunken monkey, trying not to barf her insides out. She stumbled out of the train station, to be welcomed by traffic, and honking horns. It was always busy near the train station, so she didn't really care. Cecile flipped out her phone and called her favorite taxi company to come pick her up. While she was waiting, she looked around, and saw one little tree planted beside the train station. It looked funny because that small little tree was just sitting there alone, it almost made Cecile want to run over and give it a hug. Soon the taxi was here, and she jumped in, telling them to drive to Résidence Sarrhail. The guy driving was surprised she was going there, but she shrugged it off, and took the back roads to try to get there faster.

Maybe the taxi was a bit worse than the train.. The taxi driver took the back roads (which Cecile didn't mind), but he kept hitting bumps, swerving, and speeding up, which made Cecile even more motion sick. Cecile clutched onto her seat belt, taking deep breaths, she tried not to freak out, but if he hit one more bump, Cecile was about to go psycho. Soon he made it onto the main (paved, thank god) roads, and drove good enough that Cecile could take out her sketch book and draw, without stabbing herself with her pencil. She decided to sketch a humanized form of that little tree earlier, surrounded by a bunch of civilians, which represented the cars, and the traffic station. Cecile put away her pencil and grabbed a green pen, to outline the tree, to make her stand out from the crowd she drew. She soon finished it, and put away her sketch book just in time for the taxi to screech to a halt. He turned around and gave her a friendly smile. He asked for the money which she gave extra, and he called out. "Merci, mademoiselle!" {Thanks miss!} Cecile turned around and smiled back. "Pas de problème!" {no problem!} Cecile said in the nicest tone possible, and walked off to the ENSBA dorms, to travel to the suite.

When she got inside the suite, she could hear people inside already, and she smiled. "Thank god I'm not the only one here.." Cecile muttered under her breath and looked up at the spiral staircase. She groaned, but then just got over herself and grabbed her suitcase and traveled up the spiral staircase, to the bedrooms. She took the farthest left one, and sat down on the bed, taking a deep breath in. 'I hope no one heard me.. I need to calm down before I could go talk to anyone..' Cecile thought, and sighed, then she remember the blonde at the couch downstairs. 'Crap! She probably think I ignored her!' Cecile thought again and mentally slapped herself, she wanted to make a good impression, but that idea soon vanished. Soon she sat there at her bed, doodling on her tablet.

mac#2032B4 - DIALOGUE
mac#B81E21 - THOUGHTS

The narrow streets, romantic architecture, even the numerous tourists; this was every bit the Paris he'd seen and read about. The cab's interior felt as cramped as the roads, as he'd insisted on sharing the space with his carry-on and portfolio, instead of placing them in the trunk with his single piece of heavy baggage, filled with some jeans and majority of his drafting materials. The latter was a rather bulky and fragile group of items, so he'd been forced to stuff most of his clothes into the duffle next to him.

The journey to France had been exhausting, to say the least. It involved two four-hour stopovers, and his flight landed him in Italy to meet his sister who'd been temporarily living there for the past few months. The stay had been brief, lasting a mere two days before he boarded the train to Paris. Finally, this short cab trip would hopefully prove to be the last leg of the road and Wyatt could only sigh in relief as the cab rolled to a stop just in front of his building. The gardens just nearby would be the famous Luxembourg Gardens, he supposed. He'd probably take a stroll to get his bearings once he'd figured out his living space and roommates, the latter of which he'd likely have the most trouble with.

When he'd pulled on the strap that held his drafting materials and searched his pocket for his wallet, the driver had already removed the his luggage from the trunk. "Merci." While he'd resolved to avoid speaking the local language for fear of being ridiculed, Wyatt could spare a simple thank you for him as he handed over his pay.

The blue-haired man took a moment to absorb the sight of the entrance, committing the architecture to memory. Without wasting another moment, he grabbed ahold of his things, and entered the building, quickly locating the elevator. Shet. Anong door ulit? (Shit. What door was it again?) When the elevator doors opened to an empty hallway, he maneuvered his things outside with only one hand as his other looked through his phone for the email detailing his living arrangements. He had the key in that same hand, ready for use.

A smug smile broke out as he found the exact email he wanted; Wyatt's good mood grew he realized the suite was the door just ahead of him. "Door 301. Bless technology." The door had been left slightly ajar, although he couldn't hear much movement from within. Placing the unneeded key in his pocket, he used his weight to push open the door, dragging along his things.

There was only one other person in the living room as he passed through, and gave the interior an unseen nod of approval. Blue eyes strayed towards the narrow staircase that would lead up to his room. He gave his things a pointed look, and then stared at the staircase. Oh boy. If he wanted to be gentle on his stuff (in which case he certainly did), then it'd be best if he did two trips instead of one. "Excuse me." With a heave, he lifted the duffle bag onto the sofa and used it to keep his portfolio from rolling to the floor. If the blonde said anything to him, Wyatt ignored it in favor of bringing the largest, and heaviest, of his baggage up the steps.

"Ah. Hello." When he'd peered through, he hadn't been expecting someone to already be in the room. And Wyatt certainly hadn't been expecting a female to be his roommate, even if he had read her name prior to today. He had nothing against the idea, he was just surprised that co-ed rooms were alright with the school.

He forced it the rest of the way open, bringing in the luggage that felt gargantuan in their shared room. Right now, his partner lay on the left bed, although the very existence of his bag was going to prove a problem for them both. "I'll... find someplace else for this once I've unpacked." He spoke in English, uncertain if she understood. Logically, he knew that speaking in French would make this entire ordeal much easier, but like hell he'd let a local hear his botched accident. With all of his strength, he lifted the baggage onto the free bed, laying it flat there so it wouldn't take up the room's floor space. "I'm guessing you're Cècile. I'm Wyatt, your partner and roommate."

"Hai, wakarimashita ("Yes I understand")", Erza voiced in her native tongue as she leaned against the nearby wall, one leg comfortably propped up. She was currently standing in a moving train car, ready to step out, however her mother called, insisting on giving her "tips" about the "strange world" of France.. Of course, Erza would indulge her, because she surely wasnt dumb enough to suppress her motherly instincts, otherwise it would be the end of her. She chuckled, remembering her adorable yet angry mother thumping around-"Anata ga chūi o haratte imasu! (Are you listening!)" Erza blinked, "ah.. hai hai. (yeah yeah)".

Her mother sighed. 'Of course she would be in a hurry.' A gentle smile pulled on her lips, 'Its nice to hear Erza excited about something.' For anyone to hear this, people would look at her like she was crazy, because Erza's voice? Totally monotone. If anything, it seems like she didnt want to be there, but no one should ever underestimate a mother's knowledge about her own children.

"Mā, jibun jishin o tanoshimu, Furansu wa hijō ni utsukushīdesu. (Well, enjoy yourself, France is very beautiful.)" "Shitte imasu, Sayōnara okāsan (I know.. bye Mom) Merci" Waiting a moment for her mother to drop the line, she lowered the phone, before taking up her bags to leave the moving car. It was when she left the underground subway when she finally agreed with her mother, 'France is beautiful.' Not only that, it was definitely aesthetic in every form possible.

The warm smell of french food slipped under her nose, while the sight of couples in love came trotting by.. Her usually apathetic silver eyes softened, 'Very beautiful.' Taking a moment to revel on this unique stage, she continued on towards the designated loft that the school kindly provided. But as she walked off, she felt lingering eyes trail along her body, particularly women, which was strange until- 'Ah. I forgot.' She glanced towards a nearby store to study herself in the reflection, only to see a masculine version of herself. He was tall, adorned with a loose fitting baseball tee and a simple gaunt pair of jeans, nicely matched with some grey combat boots- while his black hair was gently pulled back in a high pony tail. The reflection smiled wryly, 'I look pretty good.'

Tucking a strand of hair behind her ears, she continued forward, enjoying the scenery as she made her way. Unfortunately, sightseeing was kept short for the loft was closer then she expected. "Cute." She commented, casually looking over the building, before entering the elevator, her bags tucked under her arms...

"Room 301." She stared, "Hm." She noticed the door slightly ajar, 'Guess I'm not the first.' Kicking the door gently, she entered, dropping her bags as soon as she found a nice place to leave them- the corner. It was then that she truely looked around her new living space, only to spot an unfamiliar stack of luggage. 'She's here before me too huh.' Erza thought, 'Adeline was it?' She began to picture the female who took the role of "Adeline". A chuckle left her lips, "Charming I bet."

Taking her leave from the separate room, she made her way to the others, wondering if the local or transfer students were there. But she immediately stopped when bright blonde caught her eye. A brow arched doubtfully. It couldn't be.. "Miss Baudin?" (French) She said, in a subtly curious tone. Her japanese easily turning into French, as she assumes it was the best language to converse with a Local student.
She lifted her hand, giving a curt wave. "I'm Erza, and if im correct, Im your.. partner." She smiled softly, "Nice to meet you."

As the cab came to a stop in front of an apartment building Adrian couldn’t help but look at it in wonder. If it hadn’t been for his scholarship a room as luxurious as the one he would be living in wouldn’t have been possible - no, he would be staying at his aunt’s with her three cat’s, and as a constant reminder of his situation he’d be wearing cigarette smoke as cologne.

”Pourriez-vous ouvrir le coffre ?” The cabbie nodded and lethargically stepped out of the drivers seat to open the trunk. His suitcase was worn and there were patches of discoloremtent, but Adrian hadn’t the heart to throw it away for it held many memories that would have otherwise been lost. His camera bag however had been a present from his mother, and the one thing he truly cared about aside from his camera.

Quickly he threw his camera bag over his shoulder, set his suitcase down, and paid the cabbie his due. The door slammed shut and with it the car that represented the end of journey.

        ▬ ▬ ▬

He took a long hard look at the number plaque and decided that despite his inner worrying he would grow up and face the people as he normally would - silently. The door was open and he had to wonder about the sanity of his dorm-mates. ’Don’t they know anyone could come in and possibly murder them?’ he thought to himself but knowing it was a rhetorical question left it be.

With a steady hand (which surprised even himself) he opened the door and was not at all surprised to see that despite a more ‘worn down’ exterior the interior looked more modern than the initially expected. Instead of gray carpeting beautiful dark wood ran across whole floor, and by the living room a large window looked out into the city. ’It must be beautiful at night,’ Adrian didn’t stare for too long however and walked to a room on the left side of the living room and poked his head in to see if it was vacant. It was and he was especially content with that for in the case of a fire he wouldn’t have to run down a staircase before running down another flight of stairs.

He set his suitcase down along with his camera bag by the left side bed, and took out his DSLR camera and hung it over his neck. There were memories to be created and Adrian was sure to catch them. It wasn’t anything news worthy, he noted, but rather a fraction of time he could have to himself.

With a new sense of purpose he walked out of his room with camera in hand and what he thought was a friendly smile on his face. His face twitched and his teeth were no longer bared; trying to interact with people was hard, and getting them to notice him was even harder.

He sighed in resignation and passed the two people in the living room without so much as a glance, and headed straight for the kitchen. The only thought he he could think of in order not to become a ghost was to make food and the chances of seeing a fully stocked refrigerator was slim.

With his eyes closed he opened the fridge and let out a noise of displeasure upon seeing that there was absolutely nothing. It was to be expected though, and he would just have to think of another way to start a conversation without him actually initializing it.

A sudden noise and a body seemingly apparated from nowhere had Basile quite nearly leaping out of his skin. With a startled yelp, the Bluetooth speaker he was carrying flew from his hand, fumbling about just out of grasp before he finally found purchase, clutching it firmly to his chest. "Wh-what the hell?" Utterly bewildered and panting lightly, the redhead watched as the girl darted away, startled mind sluggish to keep up. "I- Okay... Then. Right." Basile rotated back towards his room, brow furrowed and blinking slowly.

As he was in the motion of placing down his speaker, the booming clap of a door being thrown nearly off its hinges sent it once more into flight before being crushed against his sternum. The ginger, frozen and hunched over his catch, whipped his head towards the entrance. Basile found himself blinking at what could only be described as a tiger of a woman. Her upper lip seemed to curl away from sharp canines, a growl ready to rip through her throat. Basile gulped. But before he could wrap his frayed wits about him, the woman stomped away. He flinched back as the door slammed behind her.

Just as he began to ease back into a sense of relative safety, the door swung open once again, the fierce women prowling closer. She moved past him, however, and Basile allowed himself to breathe.

Realizing he was still clutching the speaker in a vicelike grip, Basile relaxed his arms and gingerly set it on the dresser.

The ginger watched as what he could only assume to be his roomate unpacked. He waited a beat or two before clearing his throat, not used to being ignored. Choking down his sense of unease and throwing on one of his most winning and irresistibly charming smiles, Basile stuck out his hand. "Hello, you must be mademoiselle Santos. I'm Basile Roux. It's a pleasure." His English was heavily accented, but he'd never go about fixing it. It drove women mad. "Did you take a flight from Spain? No, no you look much too terrible for such a short flight..." The ginger removed his outreaching hand and thumbed his lower lip in thought, "Ah! It was Mexico, oui?"

They did pair him up with another Asian! How could they? Well actually it was very simple. Out of the five people Vinh could be paired up, two were Asian which gave him a forty percent chance of being stuck with an Asian and given the chance between something desired with greater odds and something undesirable with lesser odds God loved giving him the undesirable option. It wasn't like he was repulsed by the idea but rather that he'd basically been paired up with Asians his entire school life even when they had nothing in common. At the very least this person was from Korea so he supposed that he could learn a thing or two about her country.

Dragging his rolling suitcase around, Vinh tried to find his room but instead saw some people in the living room. Should he forgo finding his partner and just talk? He looked at phone before frowning and shaking his head. He wouldn't know what to talk to them about and these sorts of things were better done in groups anyway. He found his room and knocked on the door a few times (perhaps hoping that Choon-Hee was already in there) before unlocking and finding a near-empty room. It seemed that she hadn't arrived yet so he had free pick of both bed and closet. Did he want to be by the door or closer to the walls? Did he want the right side of the closet or the left? He didn't particularly like being by the door as it meant more disturbance when coming in and out of the room (as well as his mother's old tales about feng sui), but it also meant easier sneak outs (not that he would be doing much of that in college).

"You know what? Screw Mom. I'll sleep by the door if I want to!"
he exclaimed as he tossed his backpack onto the bed.

He took to unpacking his knick-knacks, laptop, posters, and decorations but gave none of that love to his clothes which remained inside of his suitcase. Vinh wanted his side of the room littered with posters of various video game characters and musical figures. His desk would be equally littered with paraphernalia, but have enough space for his cardboard box which housed most of his equipment. Even though the school provided its own studio he loved his equipment to bits and the last thing he wanted was for his mother to rifle through his drawers while he was off in ENSBA.

Adeline watched from her spot on the couch as other members of the dorm began arriving, most either ignoring her or not noticing her at all. Someone with blue hair. A brunette. An even taller person with blue hair. Adeline watched them all, not creepily, but out of boredom. Her cell vibrated and she found texts from her sisters.

In replying to her siblings, Adeline missed the black-haired figure that passed by her, barely hearing the opening of a door upstairs. "Miss Baudin?" She hung her head over the back of the couch and smiled up at who she assumed was Erza Hart.

"Oui! Ce'st moi~"

Adeline closed her phone and shoved it in her pocket, hopping off the couch and skipping over to where her new roommate was. "So, you're Erza. Your name is another version of Elizabeth or Elsa and means 'God is my Oath,' but from what I can tell, you don't really seem all that religious, though I could be wrong~"

Smirking slightly, Adeline took a bow that was more for show then for honor, making it seem as fancy and sarcastic as she could. She laughed as she stood back up and introduced herself. "My name is Adeline Baudin, you can call me whatever you like. My first name means 'Little Noble' but I doubt you'll find me as noble as that sounds, I'm really more of a rebel. Its nice to meet you, by the way!"

Adeline spotted Vinh going up the stairs, and would have said hello to him, but figured her new roommate was priority and she could talk to him later.

It wasn't until she looked back to Erza that she started to take not of her appearance. Masculine. That was the first word that came to mind, and not in a bad way either. Erza was actually quite attractive, and though her sense of style was much simpler than she was used to, it wasn't even close to unfashionable.

"Ah! I didn't know which side of the room you wanted, so I didn't unpack yet."

Skipping up and into their room, Adeline spun around in a circle to face the door and smiled. "I don't really mind where my stuff goes, so you get first pick~" Humming quietly, she walked over to her suitcase and sat down on it, turning to her cell as to not put pressure on Erza for speedy choosing.

So far this Erza girl - or guy, it was too soon to tell how Erza wished to be called - wasn't so bad. Adeline's previous roommate, an upperclassmen named Genevive, had been a bit...well, annoying. She'd known the woman since her sister Anette was in High School, and ever since she'd first met Genevive the woman had been dating guy after guy after guy. Adeline doubted that Erza was of the same stature.

From what Adeline had been told, Erza was a Double Major, with both Theater and Music. It was interesting that someone would be able to juggle two different career paths while still having a social life. Well, not that she really knew if Erza had a social life, but assuming she did have one, it was interesting.

"I hope this isn't too forward or anything, but I hope we can be friends."

Adeline hadn't ever had too any real friends in her nineteen years since her mother had always kept her busy with the violin. She hoped Erza would be her first.

Who the hell is this pompous ass? Probably her partner and roommate, but still. Who the hell is this pompous ass. Sterling turned from all her material possessions and watched him unimpressed as the ginger’s face contoured into smile. Objectively, he had a handsome smile and face; if she was into arrogant white men, which she really wasn’t because she loved herself too much to mess with white boys. Although Sterling doubted her roommate would realize that particular fact anytime soon.

The white boy held out his hand in an attempt at formalities; Sterling just arched a well-maintained eyebrow at the offending appendage instead of completing the banal ritual of introduction.

"Hello, you must be mademoiselle Santos. I'm Basile Roux. It's a pleasure," the French man drawled, the French dripping from his words. She rolled her eyes, more bullshit pleasantries. He continued in the hard to follow accent, "Did you take a flight from Spain? No, no you look much too terrible for such a short flight...Ah! It was Mexico, oui?"

Her jaw dropped, then her mouth formed a sneer. Sterling was astonished. She paused for a moment to compose herself enough to not murder the presumptuous dick; it would be too much effort getting another partner. Murder charges would be unpleasant so early in her life. But to assume her nationality...incurred a wrath that wouldn't be easily quelled.

With a fistful of Basile’s shirt, Sterling yanked him down until they were centimeters apart. “I’m fucking American. Bitch,” she bite out, flaunting her bleach white teeth. “And it really isn't a pleasure, polla.”

Once she was certain he was quivering with fear and a few shade paler than his white before, Sterling released her iron hold on his now wrinkled shirt. She took a deep breath and turned around to start unpacking her bedsheets (she desperately needed a nap). Successfully pulling out the bedding, Sterling set the rest of her luggage on the ground; quickly and skillfully, she made her bed worthy of her sleeping form. However, she gave up unpacking the rest of her possessions in favor of searching for substance in the kitchen. Airplane food was not edible, so Sterling had forgone food for too long.

Erza stared as she continued to speak, finding it interesting that the girl brought up such peculiar subjects such as name meaning as a first impression. But no matter how amused she was, her face didn't betray her, and it remained cool with just a dot of a smile. A little habit of hers from acting all the time, she fervently sticks to her role no matter what, and right now- her male like persona was what she was. Besides, it was hard for her to be easily open about her excitement, she was always the reserved type, even as a child. 'Old habits die hard I suppose...' So no matter, she would refuse to beam on about name meaning.. (no matter how much she liked the topic). "My name is Adeline Baudin, you can call me whatever you like. My first name means 'Little Noble' but I doubt you'll find me as noble as that sounds, I'm really more of a rebel. Its nice to meet you, by the way!"

But no matter the reason, she couldnt help but feel her light smile twitch upwards just a tad bit more. 'How lively.'

"A rebel hm? How fun." She replied in a teasing manner, as she followed. But as she did, she noticed in the corner of her eye another role coming on "stage". A man, a rather good looking one, and from what he was doing she could only assume... 'Looking into the refrigerator even though there is obviously nothing in it..? Can he not just talk to us?' She thought, musingly, finding it quite cute, 'Oh well.' Who was she not to assist her new fellow student.

Taking a moment to think about how she could naturally include him in all this, she was shaken out of thought when Adeline spoke up once more in their room. "I don't really mind where my stuff goes, so you get first pick~" She nodded, giving her an appreciative look, before slipping back into tho- only to snap out of it again.

"I hope this isn't too forward or anything, but I hope we can be friends."

She blinked, her usually indifferent expression gone and replaced by a slightly shocked one. 'Thats new.' No one asked her like that before... if anything they snooped around her, trying to sneakily get into her life, probably due to her prestigious upbringing. Of course, she never really cared for it, but now that Adeline asked, Erza wondered how lonely she truly has been without her doting parents around. They were the only ones she talked to..

Without thinking, a grateful smile pulled at her lips, a usually rare occurrence (has hell possibly frozen over), "I would love to, Adeline, I really would." Her sterling silver eyes gleamed warmly, obviously happy about what happened, but suddenly they returned to their usually apathetic look as she realized something. She pounded a closed fist against her open palm.

"Ah, thats right." Without warning, she stepped out of the room, and peered into the kitchen. "Hey." She called out, clearly looking at the man, "Would you like to be friends too?" Initially her tone was rather monotone, but a soft welcoming smile began to etch itself onto her lips, while she watched the silent man for a reaction. 'How could I forget.' Erza thought, chuckling at her stupidity, 'I could make friends, this is my chance.'

Now perhaps she was a bit... too blunt, but anyone could tell she had the best of intentions. "And seeing how there’s nothing to do with the kitchen," She added, remembering how his search for food went, "Perhaps you could later... help me.. us move our things?" Erza wouldn’t openly admit it now, but despite how "masculine" she appeared, she was pretty weak... Comically so. How she survived stage practice was beyond her. "If you cant do that (Due to his partner making an appearance) maybe afterwards, grocery shopping?"

Female Day: Belle

Dialogue | #BDA0CB

Heels clacked loudly against the concrete of sidewalks, not in the least bit rushed as Belle made her way into the wrong direction. Oblivious, although having lived in the country, and the city itself, for her entire life, the street signs and sounds of cars whirring by still managed to get her turned around. As dizzying as all the noise was, she wasn't the least bit disoriented and happily clacked her heels against the crack in the side walk, feeling that there was something stuck on the left heel. When she was satisfied that whatever it was had been removed, she continued her way onwards into the unknown.

It took another hour of walking, a stop off at a coffee shop, three thrift shops, and two boutiques, before Belle finally decided that if she took any longer reaching her destination that it would be nightfall before she reached it. While she wasn't at all concerned about being a lady walking the streets of France at night since she could easily handle herself if need be, she was more focused on the issue of not getting to greet her roommates. Surely, the foreigners would be exhausted from their long day. It was just a pity that they would probably be too tired for her to show them around the town (as if she knew where she'd take them anyway).

Hailing a cab, Belle pushed in her large suitcase, the kind that looked as if it could contain at least two bodies if she were the, er, sociopathic type. She hauled it into the cab with ease, stretching out her arms to give them a rest after spending the day wandering around aimlessly. The cabby was happy to take her to her destination, even going as far as shaking his head and denying her money when she they arrived. While Belle was flattered, she still tossed the owed amount in the man's direction, thanking him for the courtesy, and dragging her suitcase along with her towards the building.

This, she thought, gazing up at the building in question, the place she would be staying for as long as requested, the place where, hopefully, her dreams would be realized, This is the place.

When Miss Belle arrives, she arrives in style.

The door did not simply open. There were no polite knocks, no creaks of the hinges when she turned the knob. Rather, Belle purposely, quietly, subtly turned the knob so the door would open just enough, and when she was sure she wouldn't knock it off its hinges, she kicked it straight it. There wasn't a single sign of hesitation as it crashed against the inside wall (thankfully, only leaving the slightest of marks, as this was a practiced initiation and a perfected one at that). Seeing the people inside, her eyes glistened with glee at the very prospect of getting to meet new people. Not just people- Artists!

Oblivious to any current conversations being held, Belle did what she did best and claimed the attention of those in the vicinity, her voice loud, bright, and booming as she greeted the others. "Bonjour, mes gâteaux sucrés! Miss Belle has arrived to the floor. I'm excited to meet you all, especially the newcomers." And by that, she meant the foreigners, of course.

Belle circled the room, swiftly and excitedly shifting from one person to another to shake each hand, taking one of the other's in two of her own. She grabbed them each by the shoulder, greeting them with a kiss to each cheek, finally settling back to the door when she was finished to carefully shut it and grab her bag. With her suitcase in hand, she gave them each a curt wave, smiling ear to ear. "I'll be back in two clicks of these heels to collect names."

Truth told, Belle did just as promised. She found her room, dropped of her suitcase, heels, and scarf, and paraded back into the main room, opening her arms out wide. "I'm so late! Mes excuses! I want to meet each and every one of you by name- Oh!" She paused, scanning the room to see if she could guess the answer to her next question. When she couldn't, she curtly clapped her hands together. "Which one's my lucky partner? Don't be shy, we have to meet right away!"

Basile's eyes fluttered wide as he was yanked forward, caught in the tiger's claws. That. That didn't go as planned at all. One second Basile was smiling and undoubtedly charming his way into his new roomate's heart, and the next he was staring down his own demise.

“I’m fucking American. Bitch." The ginger instinctively tried to pull back, his beautiful nose dangerously close to gnashing teeth. “And it really isn't a pleasure, polla.” Basile stumbled back as the ferocious women tossed him away and returned to ignoring him. The gall. He straightened out the new wrinkles in his shirt and opened his mouth to retort, but quickly snapped it shut when her glare caught his eye. Instead, Basile made a disgusted noise in the back of his throat and stomped out the door. It was certainly not a retreat, no the battle had just begun. Basile just really needed a smoke.

'Pollo', Basile scoffed, clamoring down the stairs, who the fuck is she to call me a chicken? "Salope." He muttered under his breath, digging out a cigarette and lighter from his pockets. The ginger abjectly ignored the other roomates in favor of scanning the apartment for an open window.

Stalking across the small living area, Basile approached the East wall. The sun was starting to set and a Monet of lights began to paint the city; no doubt a breathtaking sight for someone who hadn't spent their entire life here. Basile grumbled in irritation, unable to find a way to open any of the windows. "What's the point of a wall of windows if you can't actually use them." Basile wove his way through the small gathering in the kitchen and examined the microwave. He sighed, desperate times call for desperate measures, and turned on the exhaust fan.

Lighting up his cigarette, Basile leaned back against the stovetop, careful not to jostle any knobs, and tipped his head back, exhaling a plume of smoke. He watched as the fan quickly took up the majority, saving him the trouble of disabling the smoke director. He smiled faintly around another intake, at least the American couldn't ruin smoking for him.

Cecile was enjoying the peace and quiet, right when she heard the other participants flood in. A lot of them made noise, he could hear yelling in one room, and downstairs- The sounds of footsteps. But she kept still on her bed, sketching on her tablet, wondering when her partner would get here. But obviously she had to jinx it, thinking 'when her partner would get here', because a minute later, a tall- Blue haired (?) guy came walking in. She looked him over, trying not to look like a complete retard sitting on her bed, doodling. But he came in with a huge set of luggage. Cecile popped up, suddenly feeling the urge to help him with his luggage when he spoke- "I'll... find someplace else for this once I've unpacked." He said, and Cecile nodded. She stood there like an awkward piece of furniture, not knowing what to do- Or say.

"I'm guessing you're Cècile. I'm Wyatt, your partner and roommate." He said, well- Wyatt said, nonchalantly. Cecile suddenly realized he was only speaking English, maybe he didn't like speaking french- Or doesn't know it? Cecile then realized she was standing there- Not saying anything to him, as he just introduced himself. "Oh! Yes, you must be Wyatt! Nice to meet you." She spoke fast, because she had no clue what to say, or do. She wanted to ask him if he knew French, but that would come off as rude, and she didn't want him to think of her as rude. "So-" Cecile thought of something to say, to break the ice, that awkward tension between them. "What's your major? I'm a digital artist." She hummed, holding up her tablet, with the little doodle of a manga school girl on the screen. She looked at him, waiting for a response- Hopefully he doesn't think her major is stupid.

.....................................Choon-Hee Song

As the plane approached its destination to the city of love, a young Korean woman plastered her face against the window next to her. A soft smile crept to her rosy lips as the decent beneath the clouds revealed more of the beautiful scenery. The sky was blue, the clouds were stretched like pulled cotton, and the city below was sprawled out in entrancing geometric shapes. What a day to start a new adventure.

After moving at a snail’s pace through customs and retrieving her luggage, Choon-Hee Song exited the airport with a spring in her step - overwhelmed with excitement to embrace her new home. The hustle and bustle of Paris reminded her of home in Busan, South Korea, just without the salty air from the sea port. People and cars rushed past, unaware of the curious young woman watching them with growing amazement. She had never been outside of her own country, never been exposed to a different culture in such an intense manner, and to think she was blessed with the opportunity to finish her studies in one of the most famous cities in the world! Her exhilaration could not be contained.

Seeming to forget that she was due to arrive to the student apartments, Choon-Hee clutched her powder blue sunhat to her head and hurried off to explore the wondrous new city. Shop after shop lined the enchanting cobblestone streets enticing her with beautiful handmade bobbles and trinkets. Her large rolling luggage clacked against the cobblestone loudly earning confused looks from the locals, which the young woman did not appear to notice. Absorbed in her own amazement, she wandered about the streets taking in all of the intricacies of the ornate architecture and the vibrant culture surrounding her. Only the smell of freshly baked bread from a nearby bakery snapped her out of her trance, as she became aware of her monstrous hunger.

After purchasing a scrumptious chocolate covered pastry from the bakery, Choon-Hee seated herself at a small table outside to admire more of her surroundings. The multicolored boutiques across the street humming with people, the sweet sound of fluent French buzzing in the air, and the chocolaty goodness of the pastry combined into a serene sense of happiness. She must capture this moment. Digging through her backpack, she gently retrieved her beloved Nikon camera, secured it around her neck, and then proceeded to snap photos of the street and the people walking down it.

Suddenly Choon-Hee’s attention turned from the whole of the street to a singular figure. A woman cut through the crowd, striding confidently in heels, dragging a large luggage in tow. The scene’s aesthetic resonated within the photographer – she must act quickly before the moment was gone forever. Like a lioness readying to pounce, Choon-Hee lowered herself to get a better angle. Her brow furrowed in concentration. There, perfect! Her camera snapped multiple times, capturing the scene in a pristine manner.

As the woman became only a blot in the distance, the photographer triumphantly straightened herself and proceeded to investigate her prize. The soft smile returned as she flipped through her recent photos, pride swelling within her especially when viewing the newest snapshots of the mysterious woman.

Choon-Hee’s musings over her handiwork were cut short after the atmosphere began to turn from a bright blue to a soft sleepy orange. Looking up into the sky, the young woman started in realization that night was approaching and she had no idea where she was in relevance to where she needed to be. She fished her phone out of her backpack as she returned to her seat by the bakery and typed in the name of the apartments where she would be staying. The phone reported back that it would take around fifteen minutes by car to arrive at Résidence Sarrhail, prompting a frown from the student. While Choon-Hee would never pass up the opportunity to take a walk during a sunset, she was beginning to feel the exhaustion from the long flight creep up on her. She quickly hailed down a cab, relieved when she was able to rest her aching legs for a little while.

Once she arrived at the apartment building, Choon-Hee paid the driver with euros and a polite “Merci” before he waved goodbye and proceeded to his next customer. The young woman then began to make her way up to door 301, excited but also somewhat nervous to meet her new roommates. She wondered how it would be like to live with nine other artists – like living in an intense bubble of creativity. When she arrived at the door, she searched again in her bag for her key, noting that a number of voices could be heard from within. As usual, her lollygagging caused her to be late, but at least she had gotten some good shots during the day. The door opened with a click of the key and she dragged her luggage over the threshold and then quietly shut the door.

Many of her new roommates were gathered on the main floor introducing themselves to each other. Before introducing herself, Choon-Hee took a second to scan each new face. A light-haired man stood looking into the empty fridge, a short blue-haired woman was investigating the kitchen, a tall ginger-haired man was curiously leaning backwards under the microwave (was he smoking?), a dark haired woman was standing in the doorway addressing someone, and – wait, what? The young photographer’s face flushed slightly as she recognized the woman in the living room; she was the confident woman Choon-Hee had photographed while in the city! Frozen in the doorway, Choon-Hee came to the realization that not only was the confident woman even more radiant up close, she also was her roommate. She had photographed her roommate.

Her blush deepened in her embarrassment and she sheepishly sneaked away towards her room, hopping that she was not noticed – although improbable with so much luggage weighing her down. Entering her room, she parked her luggage near the empty bed, laid her backpack down, and then sighed both from left over embarrassment as well as exhaustion. Next time she has luggage, sight-seeing will not be an option. She turned around and caught sight of a dark headed boy unpacking various videogame related posters and figurines. Assuming he was her partner, Choon-Hee took a small step closer and gave a small bow along with a smile. “Bonjour, you must be Vinh. I’m Choon-Hee Song. It’s nice to finally meet you!”

.
.

There were many things Adrian had been prepared for, but the almost comical personalities of the apartment attendees was not one of them. Watching from the safe environment that was the kitchen he let the scene before him roll out wondering when it would be appropriate to insert himself into the conversation.

The girl with blonde hair was peculiar, for it wasn’t very often that someone would introduce themselves with the knowledge of not only theirs but the other person’s name as well. As she rose from an exaggerated bow she commented on the fact that she hadn’t decided which bed should be hers.

Adrian rolled his eyes in a way that said more than he ever could. Adeline was a character, and if he hadn’t the foresight to look up the other members of the house hold he would have incorrectly assumed her to be a thespian.

Slowly Adrian was beginning to realize that he would be better off in his own room waiting for his room mate than interrupting a ‘declaration of friendship.’ But as he was about to do that a voice called out to him asking him the very same question.

“Would you like to be friends too?” he stopped in his tracks and looked at the person in question. It was a bit awkward for someone to ask if they could ‘be friends’ for Adrian thought it to be a natural occurrence rather than a forced one, but despite that fact he couldn’t help but smile and nod in acceptance.

“Um, bonjour Je m'appelle Adrian, enchanté,” he walked toward the pair and reached out his hand in hand shake. He realized there that Erza despite appearing male had smaller hands than he anticipated, and upon further notice had a higher pitched voice than the average male. “That’s fine with me, and I do believe shopping is in order.”

However as Adrian was to ask what room they were in a woman with a pretty shade of red (blonde?) hair came flying in and took the apartment by storm. But as quickly as she came she left and Adrian could only pale when he realized which room she stormed into.

Having read about his partner he knew they would be a bit eccentric, but what he was presented with was something more than that. “Which one's my lucky partner? Don't be shy, we have to meet right away!” Adrian didn’t want to speak up, but knew it was rude to ignore her request and as such introduced himself the same way he did when meeting Erza and Adeline.

“Do you need help unpacking Miss Belle?” he completely ignored the fact hat he too also had to shove his clothing into a closet, but he didn’t have very many things so he thought why not procrastinate. “We were going to head out to the store afterwards, would you care to join us?”

The sound of the vent turning on however caught his attention to a woman with blue haired trying to do the same thing he had a few minutes earlier, and a man smoking underneath the stove fan. These people were hardly what Adrian thought his college life would bring, but it just as welcome as anything else he encountered.

“If you must smoke, please step outside to do so.” Adrian didn’t hate smoking nor was he against the act, but the smell would stick to anything it could and never go away. He had learned that from years of living with a daily smoker, “And we’re about to head out for groceries, or if any of you would rather we could dine at a restaurant,” he directed his first statement more at the female, but let the question be open ended so anyone could answer.

A girl with short black hair walked into the apartment and blushed when she caught sight of Belle and quickly turned toward the last remaining room. He quirked an eyebrow up but decided her behavior was nothing unusual. “So, what room have you two claimed?”

"I would love to, Adeline, I really would."

A bright smile crossed Adeline's face as she heard those words, and she was glad she'd made the decision to ask. She watched Erza walk out into the hall and followed her out, silently eavesdropping as she asked the blonde boy downstairs if he also wanted to be friends. This Erza character was pretty awesome so far.

Adeline listened quietly as the two conversed, observing their words and everything else in the room: the blue-haired woman who had come down to search the refridgerator, the ginger male who was smoking near her. She didn't react very dramatically when the door crashed open, though her curiosity perked up. Slowly she scooted to where she could see the pretty woman who had entered.

The woman introduced herself as Miss Belle, and Adeline made the assumption that she meant Cyrille Bellerose. She called out to the group asking who her partner was and the blonde male - Adrian, as she'd learned his name was - claimed the position. The two seemed like complete opposites in Adeline's eyes.

Adrian offered to help Belle with her immense luggage, and then invited her and the others in the room to join them on their quest for groceries, which Adeline thought would be more fun with more people. The more the merrier, right?

"Maybe we could have the whole dormitory join our shopping adventure~"

Adeline spoke, directing it towards no one in particular, and continued watching the events below. A black-haired girl walked in and Adeline noticed her walking into Vinh's room. She still had to say hi to him, since she hadn't earlier. Her attention was directed back to Adrian when he asked her and Erza which room was theirs.

"Ours is the middle one! It satisfies my aesthetic~"

Her views on silly things like aesthetic made life more interesting for Adeline, despite how simply random they were. "So, do you guys think we'd all be okay going grocery shopping at night? My sisters say all the creepy people go roam around after dark." Adeline laughed playfully at her own comment.

Adeline pulled away from the railing and went back into her room, searching through her bag and pulling out her purse before hopping back out into the hall, closing the door behind her. "So, who all wants to come along?"

Hopping over to the room left of hers and Erza's, Adeline knocked lightly on their slightly open door before poking her head in. "We're all going grocery shopping, if you'd like to come along!" She waved to them and went back over to Erza. Grabbing her wrist, she gently pulled her new roommate with her down the stairs to where everyone else was, letting go at the bottom and skipping over to Vinh's room and also poking her head in. "Hey Vinh, Bella Ragazza, the great moi was wondering if you two would like to accompany us on our grocery shopping trip~"

Adeline sent a wink and a double-guns finger motion towards them and popped back out of their room, leaving them to their decision, and walking back to the group. "They'll come if they want to~ Anyways, we should go before dark."

"Quoi de neuf?"

The question (really more of a statement) was short, instinctive, and informal. It was so informal in fact that he wondered if the girl learned it in any of her French classes (Korea had those right?). Vinh supposed that "bonjour" would have been the more appropriate response as they didn't know each other very well but considering that they were roommates they might as well get to know each other. He wasn't much for formalities and unless she was a language fiend he hoped that she wouldn't mind either. Plus there was also the fact that he was busy breaking out the personality ware.

In this case, personality-ware referred to things that would make him jump out as "gamer-EDM-guy" because it was simply easier to have someone else start a conversation about something someone saw than have Vinh do all the work. From what it seemed, she had her own fair share of interests (although she'd yet to hang them up on her wall) so he could at least ask now that she'd already initiated the conversation. He popped out the bottom of the cardboard box once he finished unpacking and slid it under his bed before turning over to face his new roommate and talk to her in full.

"You're a photography major right?" he asked, holding out his hand to shake, "I think I met a few of you on the way here."

That was partially a lie as he only met one of them, but there were probably tons floating around campus.
