"C'mon Lady Luck, don't abandon us now," he said with a sigh.
"Oh please don't start with that gambler crap again Koh. You're a shitty poker player and you know it," Roark replied, peeking into an alley.
"Only because Tarin hides an ace down her cleavage."
"You really believe that don't you?" Roark said pityingly.
As they spoke, something shifted in the snowbank behind Roark. Koh went rigid.
"Don't... move..." Koh said in warning.
Roark cursed. "Another Frosty?"
"Must have gotten buried in the snow."
"Lucky huh?"
Koh inched forward, axe ready as the frozen corpse rose from the snow. It regarded Roark with dead, frosted eyes, and tilted its head as it took a shambling step forward. Before it could take another, Koh charged it and removed its head with a swing of his axe. It collapsed in a heap.
Roark breathed a sigh of relief and faced Koh. "Remind me never to..."
Something chittered loudly behind the big man.
"What the hell was..." he began, interrupted by the spike of ice spearing him from behind. Blood spattered the snow as the giant ice scorpion pulled its victim into the shadows of the alley.
"Roark!" Koh shouted.
"Run!" Roark yelled weakly, before a sickening snap silenced him forever.
Koh cursed and ran for a place to hide.
Trying to stay warm, Coars did something most would do when trying to warm their hands, breathing onto them for warmth.

He looks for an exit, wondering how he got here of all places as he had been in the museum before hand.
"How much time has passed me by?"
Though as he gets close, Kohran runs into the station and right past Coars. "I wouldn't go that way!" he called back. The strange shriek outside that followed was probably why.
He keeps following Kohran, having not seen an exit down there from before that he would have realized, but thinking perhaps there may be something worth it following this one if just to get away from what made that shriek. He wasn't sure yet how to do much of his 'power' after all.
The ice construct began to descend the stairs after them. Koh pulled Coars down onto the tracks to hide.
he had whispered back, but keeps down on the tracks, focusing as he keeps ready, wondering what he was going to have to do.
He could hear that icey thing coming, and he was willing to bet his flames could at least give them better odds, but he followed the one that was actually trying to help him.
Koh nodded and motioned Coars to move down the track in a crouch. As the sneaked towards the tunnel, a pair of frozen undead shambled out of the dark ahead of them.
"Please tell me you're armed," the stranger implored, "A chainsaw would be nice."
Coars moves for the two undead, glancing back quickly at the noise from the construct before breathing in deeply, holding it, then breathing out hard at the two shambling undead, spreading his flames hard at them.
Dragons are known to be many things, but for Coars, he was going to change to one. A minor grouping of scales formed on his chest, above his heart. He'd gained a bit of dragon toughness to his core.
Unluckily, the scorpion noticed this and released a terrible shriek that sounded like some diabolical instrument in Hell's orchestra.
Koh was too busy processing what he just saw to react.
Coars was going to run with Koh until he couldn't, though he imagined he'd be able to melt their way into a safer spot by the time whatever that thing was following them lost interest.
"Clearly that thing killed me because that did not just happen!
The creature crashed through the icicles hanging over the tunnel opening behind them and crushed one of the ghouls' skulls as it passed with a sickening crunch. As they ran down the tunnel, it was clear the beast had the advantage in mobility. But as luck would have it there was a service door ahead on the left, and it was ajar.
He looks to the ajar service door and begins for it, "This way before it's too late!"
"Come on, be enough to stop this thing." he mutters under his breathe. A hallway would be great right now, and he'd be able to do something possibly to slow that thing down for them both to get out alive.
"Not good enough!" Koh said urgently, "C'mon!
As they fled around the corner ahead, the door exploded off its hinges as the creature scrabbled into the maintenance tunnel. Even in these awkwardly narrow confines, it was disturbingly quick.
He looks to Koh at that, not knowing his name but knowing they had to be careful about it.
"We're in trouble, I know so..I'd best do what I can now.." he looks back and breathes hard down the corridor at the creature, moving back away from it.
Koh could swear the closeness of the intense heat this time was making him feel funny, but he chalked that up to the fear-and-adrenaline-fueled wonder of the situation.
"I don't know who or what you are, but I sure hope you're enough of a killer to end this thing!"
With that line, he breathes in once more, and blasts the slowed construct with another rush of magic intent on stopping it fully while they have the chance. He had hoped for a corridor for escape, but this made sure there wasn't anyway to go but back to keep from being hit by his flames.
"That was for my friend you damn ugly bug!" Koh shouted at it.
Then he drew his pistol on Coars. "Not that I'm not grateful, but humans can't do that. What are you?"
He looks back at Koh at that, then sighs gently as he looks to the pistol before holding up his hands.
"See? See this? Surrendering. Not going to blow on you. Not my intent to burn people. However, what I am is, well I should say who. I'm Coars Mythal."
He then grunts, "Really though, you can put the gun away. Though you'll probably hate the explanation of what I have to do to save us all. So I'll just get that out of the way. To stop our world from becoming a big ball of ice, I have to assemble an army. Only way to do that, spread the power of the Old Deities who aren't around anymore. How do I know this? Dragon King basically rescued me and told me that the way to win is to breathe. So, it's possible you'll change too."
He ahems, "As for the what of that, I'm becoming a dragon I believe."
He doesn't lower his hands, leaving it in Kohs' hands.
He looks to Koh again, "So, going to introduce yourself since we're not in mortal peril right at this second?"
He ahems, "Oh and yes, the thing on my chest are scales that you possibly can see."
